00:00:00.000 The other day a Toronto business leader drew my attention to the fact that Jerry
00:00:09.540 Butts, Justin Trudeau's former right-hand man, was singing the praises of the
00:00:13.740 International Monetary Fund promoting a hashtag green recovery, talking about how
00:00:19.320 now during the coronavirus a lot of the stimulus measures we're seeing taking
00:00:23.760 place need to do so with a green agenda in mind, supporting all these different
00:00:28.400 green initiatives and making sure to price carbon right. What does that mean, pricing
00:00:34.300 carbon right? I think that's sort of implying that carbon pricing needs to be
00:00:38.480 higher than it is right now. This business leader was very concerned that
00:00:42.440 someone so close to Justin Trudeau, previously one of the guys pretty much
00:00:46.200 calling the shots, was endorsing such a notion. I mean at any other circumstance
00:00:51.360 wouldn't we call this just crass opportunism for people to look at this
00:00:55.140 and go, now is our time to strike. And yet this is happening left, right, and
00:00:59.940 center. It's not being properly reported on, it's not being properly discussed, that
00:01:03.880 there are so many people out there in the corridors of power who are flirting with
00:01:07.680 this idea that now is their opportunity to basically fully bring in a green
00:01:12.560 agenda that decimates so many other parts of the economy. Very bad of course to the
00:01:17.620 oil and gas sector, but detrimental to manufacturing in general. It's just awful
00:01:22.640 that there are other people who are doing things right now that we would say, oh
00:01:25.520 you're trying to profiteer off of the coronavirus circumstance. Those people
00:01:29.880 are denounced, yet we see the climate evangelists, they somehow get a free pass
00:01:34.760 for all of it. This is not the right time to be doing this. This is a time when
00:01:39.640 people are putting ideologies aside. For instance, I'm someone who doesn't
00:01:43.020 particularly care for deficits. I think they're pretty darn bad. Canada is on its way
00:01:47.760 to a 200 billion dollar deficit. I remember back when I was upset when it
00:01:52.740 was a 28 billion dollar deficit. Now it's going to be close to 10 times as
00:01:57.140 much as that, but we understand the situation. We understand that now is
00:02:01.500 different. Well, I think the climate alarmists need to realize that this is a
00:02:05.460 different period as well, and there just is not time for this, and we should not
00:02:09.700 have patience for this right now. The truth is that the green agenda is going to
00:02:13.660 have to be shelved, and it's going to have to be put on the back burner. For
00:02:17.280 now, well, I think for always, but I'm not ideologically predisposed to that, but
00:02:22.440 those individuals who are, well, they need to take the high road, and they need to
00:02:26.620 just calm it, cool it, and put their agenda aside, and realize we need to work
00:02:31.380 for the common good right now, because the green agenda is not, of course, about the
00:02:35.680 common good. It's about putting a certain ideology ahead of others, and when we see
00:02:41.380 that we're talking about shutting down the oil and gas sector, getting rid of
00:02:44.500 entire fields of work, and prioritizing others, that's just not it right now.
00:02:48.960 We're supposed to be all in this together, and the recovery should be we're all in
00:02:53.640 this together as well.
