00:00:00.000 Canada is a great country. Canada is worth defending. And yes, Canada is worth celebrating.
00:00:12.640 Hi, I'm Candice Malcolm, founder of True North. And look, I won't deny it. This is a tough time
00:00:17.640 to celebrate Canada. It's been a tough year for Canadians. The media and our Laurentian elite in
00:00:23.980 this country have basically turned on Canada. They've definitely turned on our founding Prime
00:00:28.860 Minister Sir John A. Macdonald, and they've turned on an early failed policy that Canada once had
00:00:34.340 to educate and assimilate the country's First Nations people into the broader Canadian society.
00:00:40.380 But here's the thing. The media and the Laurentian elite in this country have never aptly represented
00:00:46.740 Canada. They don't really understand Canadians. And so it's their myths that they've been propagating
00:00:52.640 about the country that are falling apart and now crumbling. Look, there's no doubt that Canada has
00:00:58.260 made a lot of mistakes. All countries have. Our political leaders are often misguided and they're
00:01:03.960 often just plain wrong. But we have the mechanisms in place in Canada to protect ourselves from
00:01:10.180 tyrannical governments, to vote out bad politicians, and to elect new governments. That's part of the
00:01:16.420 reason why people come to Canada from all over the world. That's why Canada routinely ranks at or near
00:01:22.320 the top of global indexes, measuring economic freedom, quality of life, happiness, good governance,
00:01:28.360 and safety. Canada is one of the least corrupt countries in the world. And yes, Canada is also
00:01:34.360 one of the least racist countries in the world. So this Canada Day, join me in ignoring the media
00:01:40.480 narrative, dismissing the Laurentian elite, and laughing at the petty woke mob who are trying to erase
00:01:46.700 our history and tear down our past. Canada is great. You know it. I know it. And despite what
00:01:53.540 some misguided people on the internet may think, Canada is definitely worth celebrating. So happy
00:01:59.500 Dominion Day from all your friends at True North. There are a lot of reasons that Canada is worth
00:02:05.820 celebrating. This is a country with a beautiful landscape, a rich history, and a long record of
00:02:12.520 tradition through our institutions and the way we honor historic figures. It may be frustrating to
00:02:18.840 see people wanting to tear these down now, but it doesn't take away from the fact that Canada is a
00:02:24.220 nation built upon its history, and by and large Canadians are proud of that history. Another thing
00:02:30.380 as well is that Canada is bigger than the government of the day. As a country, we've been through a lot
00:02:36.760 and will continue to strive to be better and thrive. Happy Dominion Day.
00:02:43.080 Why is Canada still worth celebrating? Well, I'll be honest, after 15 or 16 months of lockdowns and
00:02:48.960 witnessing the hypocrisy and power grabbing of public officials and politicians during this time,
00:02:55.360 and now with a housing crisis and inflation and debt and high cost of living, and a government that is
00:03:01.480 trying to censor free speech on the internet, between all this, it's hard to feel particularly
00:03:06.120 celebratory this year. However, I try to remember that Canada is, in the grand scheme of things,
00:03:11.720 a safe, predictable, and low-crime country, and it's also peaceful, and it's a beautiful country.
00:03:20.920 So when I celebrate Canada Day this year, I will remember those things. Although it's been a rough
00:03:27.880 couple of years with the re-election of Justin Trudeau, and then the failure of a response to COVID-19,
00:03:34.680 we have to remember that Canada is still worth celebrating. I'm actually the first in my family
00:03:40.440 to have been born in Canada, and I feel truly blessed to have been raised here. Sure, Canada has its share
00:03:47.800 of issues, but it is still a liberal democracy, which allows champions like Adam Skelly and pastors
00:03:55.560 Arthur Pawlowski, Tim Stephens, and James Coates. These people haven't given up on Canada, and neither have I.
00:04:03.160 So if you don't feel like celebrating Canada Day this year, consider celebrating these freedom-loving,
00:04:10.200 tyranny-fighting Canadians. I'm going to celebrate Canada Day this year because I haven't given up yet,
00:04:17.400 and nor should you.
