00:00:24.680Former Calgary Flames' great and Canadian Olympian Theo Fleury has made no secret of
00:00:29.520which side he's on, the pro-independence side. Let's have a look at one of his recent tweets.
00:00:36.500Let me spell out what a stay vote really means. It won't be read as Albertans are happy. It'll
00:00:42.700be read as permission, permission to keep doing everything they've been doing, only worse because
00:00:48.960the only province with the spine to push back has just folded. Our guest today is Theo Fleury.
00:00:55.140Welcome to the show, sir. Thanks, Mark. Good to see you again.
00:00:58.300Good to see you as well. Have you voted yet?
00:01:01.880I'm going to probably go either tonight or tomorrow.
00:01:04.880Is there any doubt which side you're going to support?
00:01:08.500Yeah, well, I'm only answering one question, and that's the meeting to get to the next meeting, to get to the next meeting, to get to the next meeting.0.96
00:01:20.480us well it sounds like you're not too confident this thing's ever going to happen um but you're0.92
00:01:27.740going ahead with it in terms of voting for option two correct yeah well there's there's no possible
00:01:34.000way that uh ottawa is going to allow us to get to the next step so you know but i'll go vote you
00:01:42.160know because it's my right and uh you know we'll see what happens well how are they going to prevent
00:01:47.820I mean, if the majority of Albertans, well, they'll figure something out, they'll figure something out, you know, you know, they, they always do, um, you know, it, you know, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.
00:02:06.180And since, uh, you know, the, the COVID craziness, that's, that's how I see it.
00:02:14.400You know, we've all been living in insanity and, you know, I work in the field of trauma, mental health and addiction and we have a mental health crisis.
00:02:24.580We have a addiction crisis and, you know, who are the biggest perpetrators of trauma? Government, right?
00:02:32.260When you can't afford to feed your family, when you can't afford to put gas in your car, when we have 3 million people lining up at food banks, you know, nonstop every day, that's trauma.
00:03:41.360but you know theo if you do go your own way if alberta does become its own country you're
00:03:45.920still going to have a government it'll just be the government of alberta but it'll be the one
00:03:50.880it'll be the one that we choose right because right now there is not one party in canada
00:03:58.320that represents the patriot's voice in canada and the patriot's voice we just want to be left alone
00:04:05.920Like, we know how to make money, we're entrepreneurs, we're hard workers, we're, you know, we're so many things that we don't need, we don't need any advice or decisions made for us.
00:04:20.200We were doing just fine until, you know, Trudeau got elected in whatever that was, 2015.
00:04:29.660What about those who say that Canada has a rich history, that there's been so many Albertans, for instance, who fought?
00:04:35.920uh side by side with their fellow canadians in the second world war and in korea and the first
00:04:42.200world war taking part in other uh conflicts like the ones in afghanistan there's been so
00:04:47.760many patriotic fighting for those guys we're fighting for those guys because how are you
00:04:52.680fighting for them for freedom freedom we're doing the exact same thing but we're doing it in our
00:04:58.320own country now which is even more crazy when you think about it you know we're fighting for those
00:05:04.440people. You know, we're fighting for our freedom. Get out of our lives. Government, get out of my
00:05:10.240life. I do not need you. You are, you're dumb. You're idiots. You have no idea what the hell
00:05:16.580you're doing. You know, $1.5 trillion in debt. Like my kids, kids, kids are going to, they have
00:05:24.660no future. So I'm fighting for them and their freedom to, you know, to have a decent life.
00:05:31.080not asking for extravagant things just want the government the hell out of our lives that's it
00:05:39.240and and to me that's even speaking i see do you think it's the same country as it was when
00:05:46.820you know no grandfathers so not even close not even close no uh-uh no and uh you know when our
00:05:56.880Prime Minister takes a bunch of his friends and goes to China and sits in front of Xi Jinping
00:06:02.560and goes, we're all in on the new world order. Well, if you look up what the new world order
00:06:08.120is, you don't want any part of that at all. Well, yeah, part of that new world order
00:06:15.840is opening the door to millions more immigrants. That's part of the new world order. As far1.00
00:06:21.920as I could see, the Prime Minister has made it clear he wants to open up the borders to
00:06:25.940millions more people and uh i'm not so sure that a lot of canadians are about are comfortable with
00:06:32.420that i mean we had millions of people come in during trudeau's time and now it would be pop
00:06:38.340the brakes a little bit for a year or two and now we're going to go right back down that road
00:06:42.620of uh bringing in people that we don't have the housing for we don't have the jobs for
00:06:47.140so is that an issue in alberta i think it's an issue all over the world right now you know um
00:06:55.320You know, you look what's happening in the U.S., you look what's happening in the U.K., you look what's happening in Australia.
00:10:21.800yeah there's a danger that we're going to sleepwalk our way into it with people not realizing
00:10:28.160yeah that we are doing that like it's a slow drip like they don't just come in with tanks and
00:10:32.840you know army and everything and just take it over it's a slow it's a slow drip and and for
00:10:38.380the last 11 years it's been a slow drip drifting towards you know that that c word that you know
00:10:45.840And, you know, we've had 150 some odd years of freedom in Canada.
00:10:52.220So we have no idea unless you've actually been to a communist country or you've sat down with somebody who, you know, went through the Bosnian War and Yugoslavia or, you know, I roomed with Sergei Makarov for four years in the Calgary Flames.
00:11:09.080And he told me the stories about living in communist Soviet Union and how he only saw his family maybe, you know, once, once a year, but the rest of the time he was, he was in the army training and, you know, and all that stuff.
00:11:27.320So yeah, I, I know what communism is, you know, and, uh, and I believe that that's the road where we're at it down.
00:11:35.960Have you spoken to many people about how you feel about this stuff?
00:11:39.080I mean, I know you're online, but, um, do you spend much time sort of, uh, with,
00:11:45.020you know, face to face with friends, family, that sort of thing.
00:11:52.880I would say most agree, you know, uh, I don't really hang around
00:11:56.860with too many liberal people, that's for sure.
00:11:59.440Um, but, uh, um, yeah, I would say because I live in Alberta, you know, we're, we're a very conservative, uh, province and, uh, you know, most of the circles that I run around in are, uh, are conservative ones and people are concerned about their livelihoods, concerned about their children.
00:12:23.120Um, you know, I have an 18 year old daughter who, you know, uh, has done high school and she wanted to get into the workforce and it's been absolutely impossible for her to find something that, you know, sustains her and, and her, you know, where, where she lives, her car payments, you know, her insurance, you know, you name it, all that stuff.
