00:00:00.000 After weeks of investigation and coordination between 300 investigators in a number of departments in Canada and the US from the FBI to the RCMP to Fintrac to CSIS,
00:00:14.000 the RCMP has arrested two individuals in Kingston in connection with a terrorist bomb threat.
00:00:21.000 Now police insist that no one was in imminent danger but they had enough evidence to arrest two males, one of whom is a 20 year old, the other is a minor,
00:00:31.000 as such cannot be named but has been in fact charged with counselling someone to use a bomb.
00:00:39.000 Police say that in the course of their investigation they discovered trace materials from improvised explosive devices
00:00:46.000 and even so the 20 year old who has not been charged as of recording this video but has in fact been arrested by RCMP was identified not by police but by his own family.
00:00:58.000 His father identified him as Hassam El Zahabi, a refugee originally from Syria but someone who came to Canada in 2017 from Kuwait.
00:01:08.000 The family was a privately sponsored refugee family sponsored by four churches in Kingston.
00:01:14.000 The case is still young and some facts are still to be seen but we know there was a terrorist bomb plot and police thought it was relevant to arrest two particular people in Kingston,
00:01:24.000 one of whom was a Syrian refugee.
00:01:26.000 Now this comes just hours before Justin Trudeau would take the stage in Miramichi New Brunswick
00:01:32.000 and say that the real issue with immigration comes from the fear-mongering that conservatives,
00:01:38.000 that people like me and my colleagues at True North, people like Andrew Scheer and Maxime Bernier put into the discussion.
00:01:45.000 Trudeau said the 2019 election is going to be one where immigration is front and centre but he says the fear-mongering is the problem.
00:01:52.000 Now it takes a special lack of self-awareness to hours after police arrest a refugee as part of an investigation into a bomb plot
00:02:02.000 to then say that it's the people that criticize Justin Trudeau's refugee and asylum plan that are the problem.
00:02:09.000 And remember Trudeau's comments in Miramichi New Brunswick also come one day after a story I discussed here at True North
00:02:16.000 wherein a woman was charged by Canada Border Services Agency for allegedly smuggling in illegally to Canada asylum seekers in exchange for money.
00:02:27.000 Proof that the Roxham Road border crossing which is not officially a border crossing but has been treated by illegal immigrants as some sort of a highway into Canada
00:02:38.000 has become subjected to an organized, systemic and networked abuse.
00:02:43.000 Canada's immigration and asylum system has become targeted by people who want to break Canada's laws.
00:02:49.000 And the fact that a refugee has been arrested as part of a terrorism investigation is something that in and of itself should give Trudeau cause
00:02:57.000 to question not whether Canada should ban refugees that's not what's being discussed here
00:03:02.000 but at the very least whether Trudeau could stop looking at people raising questions as being the problem.
00:03:07.000 Justin Trudeau is far more outraged that people dare criticize his government's record on immigration
00:03:13.000 than he is on the people who use Canada's immigration system to cause harm to Canada's institutions or indeed to Canadians.
00:03:20.000 For True North, I'm Andrew Lutton.
