Juno News - Is Poilievre attracting swing voters？

00:00:00.000 Bring it home! Bring it home! Bring it home! Bring it home!

00:00:06.000 It is now time where we must decide whether we're going to choose a party that is asking for a fourth mandate

00:00:18.000 and that puts us in a weak economic position in face of the threats from Donald Trump

00:00:26.000 or if we want change to put Canada first

00:00:34.000 We're going to have some taxes!

00:00:37.000 Who's ready to build some homes?

00:00:41.000 Who's ready to bring home the Canadian promise?

00:00:48.000 Noah Jarvis, True North. I'm here in Toronto where Pierre Poliev just held his kickoff rally

00:00:54.000 for the 2025 election campaign. Poliev hammered on issues like affordability, promising to get rid of the industrial carbon tax

00:01:02.000 and also promising a big middle class tax cut

00:01:06.000 Trump's tariffs and Carney's carbon tax will send hundreds of thousands of Canadian jobs moving south of the border

00:01:15.000 there will be a large sucking sound of Canadian jobs leaving the country if the Carney carbon tax on steel, on fertilizer, on aluminum

00:01:25.000 on basically every industrial product that we rely on for our modern civilization faces this new tax

00:01:32.000 I will get rid of the carbon tax on consumers

00:01:35.000 I will axe the entire carbon tax law for everyone, for everything, for good, for real, for a change!

00:01:46.000 Pierre Poliev also hammered on issues like crime, promising so quote unquote jail not bail for repeat offenders

00:01:53.000 Poliev also talked about why he believes Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberals do not deserve a fourth term in office

00:02:02.000 The crowd was electric, I was told that around 2,500 people were in attendance

00:02:06.000 However, after I was given this estimate, hundreds more people filed into the room

00:02:10.000 you can, I guess that about 3,000 people were here today

00:02:15.000 all energetic, cheering very loudly, with chants of axe attacks and bring it home

00:02:21.000 Bring it home! Bring it home! Bring it home!

00:02:24.000 It seems as if Pierre Poliev's campaign has started off on an energetic and loud note

00:02:30.000 Look at this! Amazing! My friends, I love you too!

00:02:37.000 Will Pierre Poliev be able to maintain the momentum and overtake the Liberals in the polls?

00:02:45.000 Or will Mark Carney be able to withstand the pressure that the Conservatives are applying and win a fourth consecutive term?

00:02:52.000 So what are your thoughts on the rally that you came up to?

00:02:54.000 Fantastic! Pierre said a lot of really good things

00:02:57.000 We need to bring our country back

00:02:59.000 You know, he's the only one who's standing up to a lot of things going on right now

00:03:03.000 He's saying a lot of things that kind of are turning people and saying

00:03:07.000 You know, yeah, these are problems in Canada

00:03:09.000 but not just about the problems, it's also about the solutions

00:03:11.000 How are we going to get there?

00:03:13.000 And now we're starting to come out with a lot of good solutions to bring back our country

00:03:17.000 to make sure that it's a safe place

00:03:19.000 You know, where you can unlock your door a little while

00:03:21.000 not worry about getting dragged out of your car

00:03:23.000 Yeah, we want to protect, you know, licensed firearm owners

00:03:27.000 which is a big thing for me

00:03:29.000 We want to make our streets safe again

00:03:31.000 and they're not safe right now

00:03:32.000 So I stand fully beside Pierre and the message

00:03:36.000 We'll talk about that

00:03:37.000 You're a firearms owner, I presume?

00:03:38.000 Yes, I am

00:03:39.000 So could you tell me how the Liberal government's gun grab has affected you personally?

00:03:44.000 Personally?

00:03:45.000 Funny enough

00:03:46.000 They spent billions of dollars on this gun grab

00:03:48.000 and they haven't collected one firearm from a citizen

00:03:51.000 This is something where, you know, you can't have rampant crime happening in the streets

00:03:58.000 while completely disarming licensed and vetted citizens

00:04:02.000 It's not right, you can't do that

00:04:04.000 So at the end of the day, you know, like Pierre says

00:04:07.000 you know, the Liberals are more after taking Grandpa Joe's hunting rifle

00:04:11.000 They want to protect turkeys from Canadians while unleashing criminals 1.00

00:04:15.000 and you just can't have that

00:04:16.000 What are your thoughts on Mark Carney?

00:04:18.000 Mark Carney

00:04:20.000 Mark Carney is, he's the epitome of globalists

00:04:24.000 You know, everyone says, you know, he's this banker

00:04:27.000 I know tons of people in the banking industry

00:04:29.000 I can't just take one and say

00:04:30.000 Okay, he's going to be the next Prime Minister and goes

00:04:32.000 Oh, he's a banker

00:04:33.000 That doesn't work

00:04:34.000 It doesn't work that way, right?

00:04:36.000 So Mark Carney

00:04:37.000 If you want to look at where he's going to take Canada

00:04:39.000 Just look to the UK

00:04:40.000 It's brutal what's going out there

00:04:42.000 The average person in the UK is $30,000 worse off than before Carney got in

00:04:47.000 Their economy is decimated

00:04:50.000 Their streets are decimated, rampant with crime

00:04:52.000 You have these no-go zones in the UK

00:04:54.000 It's become a surveillance state

00:04:56.000 It's in major trouble

00:04:57.000 That's exactly where Carney's going to bring Canada

00:05:00.000 If he gets, well, he's in

00:05:02.000 But we got to get him out

00:05:03.000 Any closing thoughts or message you want to say to our viewers?

00:05:05.000 Save Canada

00:05:06.000 Save Canada

00:05:07.000 That's it

00:05:08.000 Cut down the signs of our government

00:05:09.000 Save our country

00:05:10.000 Make it a good place to raise your family

00:05:12.000 Make it so young people have hope again

00:05:14.000 And that they know they can

00:05:16.000 They can afford a house one day

00:05:17.000 And they can take care of a family

00:05:19.000 Have children

00:05:20.000 And they're going to have a career where that pays

00:05:22.000 Not where the government's going to take

00:05:24.000 You know, 30, 50 cents on every dollar that they work for

00:05:27.000 You know, we need to strengthen our country and our economy

00:05:31.000 That's all

00:05:32.000 What are your thoughts on the rally that you attended today?

00:05:35.000 Well, it's a pretty overfull crowd

00:05:39.000 Pretty high intensity

00:05:42.000 Very emotional to a lot of people

00:05:45.000 So, what made you a peerfully conservative supporter?

00:05:49.000 I'm a swing voter

00:05:50.000 I just want to see what he's saying

00:05:52.000 And I'm just tired of 10 years of liberals

00:05:54.000 I'm not a huge fan

00:05:57.000 But I just 10 years of...

00:05:59.000 I like...

00:06:00.000 I like democracy

00:06:01.000 I like changes in government

00:06:02.000 That's all

00:06:03.000 And how about you?

00:06:04.000 I just can't stand Trudeau

00:06:06.000 Alright

00:06:07.000 So, what are some of the policies that Pierre talked about

00:06:09.000 That you guys really were fond of?

00:06:11.000 Okay, so basically

00:06:13.000 Getting rid of the carbon tax

00:06:16.000 Which is, you know, it's a good thing

00:06:18.000 Yeah, yeah

00:06:19.000 Well, housing

00:06:20.000 Bringing more housing

00:06:21.000 Crime and...

00:06:22.000 The catch and release are prime policies

00:06:23.000 Like, it's just like...

00:06:24.000 There's just no...

00:06:25.000 Current world...

00:06:26.000 You know, car...

00:06:27.000 Car thefts

00:06:28.000 Crime

00:06:29.000 Inflation

00:06:30.000 Printing so much money

00:06:31.000 Like, I'm in banking

00:06:32.000 I know when you print money a lot

00:06:33.000 You get inflation

00:06:34.000 So as a senior, I don't like the inflation

00:06:36.000 In fact, my kids can't get jobs

00:06:37.000 It really takes me off

00:06:38.000 So, I don't get to add to that

00:06:39.000 I guess one of the biggest things from me is like...

00:06:41.000 As well, just...

00:06:42.000 The gun ban that they're trying to impose

00:06:43.000 Is just pure pure-mongering idea

00:06:44.000 There's no issue with legal gun ownership

00:06:45.000 And yet...

00:06:46.000 I don't own a gun...

00:06:47.000 I don't own a gun...

00:06:48.000 I don't own a gun...

00:06:49.000 I don't own a gun...

00:06:50.000 I don't own a gun...

00:06:51.000 But they spent, like...

00:06:52.000 So much money...

00:06:53.000 And having even confiscated a single gun here

00:06:55.000 It's insane

00:06:56.000 So, wasteful, yeah...

00:06:57.000 Wasteful...

00:06:58.000 Wasteful, but I'm not spending...

00:06:59.000 Right?

00:07:00.000 So, I mean, you're a banker

00:07:01.000 What are your thoughts on Mark Carney?

00:07:02.000 Well, I'm retired

00:07:03.000 Oh, he's a guy...

00:07:04.000 I'm retired

00:07:05.000 Oh, he's a guy...

00:07:06.000 He's a guy...

00:07:07.000 He's a guy...

00:07:08.000 He's a guy...

00:07:09.000 He's a guy...

00:07:10.000 He's a guy...

00:07:11.000 He's a guy...

00:07:12.000 He's a guy...

00:07:13.000 He's a guy...

00:07:14.000 He's a guy...

00:07:15.000 The guy...

00:07:16.000 He's a guy...

00:07:17.000 Yeah...

00:07:18.000 I mean...

00:07:19.000 Oh, he's a banker, but I think he's a rich elitist guy. 0.97

00:07:23.000 He's filthy rich. I'd like to know his assets, how rich he is.

00:07:26.000 I'm looking for a guy who's more middle class to run the country,

00:07:29.000 to know what the challenges are of housing and inflation.

00:07:33.000 I don't want another guy with a silver spoon.

00:07:35.000 And that was Trudeau. He had a silver spoon.

00:07:37.000 And Carney's got a bigger silver spoon.

00:07:39.000 So I'd like to see someone who's, you know, more middle class.

00:07:43.000 He understands the challenges of the common person.

00:07:47.000 And I don't think he does.

00:07:49.000 Especially since he hasn't worked in Canada for the past 10 years.

00:07:52.000 No, he hasn't even been here for 10 years.

00:07:55.000 Because like I said, I'll give Pauline a chance.

00:07:58.000 If he does screen up, I'll hire him. 0.89

00:08:00.000 I'm not a diehard conservative, but I'm willing to give somebody a chance.

00:08:03.000 That's all.
