Justin Trudeau is a weak leader. That s obvious to most Canadians, the CBC's Rosie Barton excluded, of course, but never in the past five years of his administration has it been more obvious than in the days since he awoke from his slumber and finally started taking action against the coronavirus pandemic.

00:00:00.000 the fact that Justin Trudeau is a weak leader is obvious to most Canadians the
00:00:09.880 CBC's Rosie Barton excluded of course but never in the past five years of his
00:00:14.880 administration has it been more obvious than in the days since he awoke from his
00:00:18.800 slumber and finally started taking action against the coronavirus pandemic
00:00:25.240 US President Donald Trump banned flights from mainland China on January 27th the
00:00:32.480 Prime Minister only gave the same order in mid-march some six weeks after the
00:00:38.040 US president he announced he was banning international inbound travel for anyone
00:00:43.600 who was not a Canadian or had permanent resident status in Canada days later it
00:00:50.040 took another week for the Prime Minister to announce he was finally closing
00:00:55.220 Roxham Road the illegal border crossing between upstate New York and the
00:00:59.420 eastern townships in Quebec even at that it took several more days from the
00:01:05.720 announcement until the crossing was finally closed and the RCMP could stop
00:01:10.880 acting as bellhops and go back to doing their job it also seems that despite the
00:01:18.800 supposed closure of Canadian border to international visitors there are still
00:01:24.040 inbound flights from Europe and Asia daily landing at YVR in Vancouver and YYZ in
00:01:31.720 Toronto as recently as today the Prime Minister in the first week of March
00:01:37.920 appointed a coronavirus committee headed by the Minister of Health Patti Hajdu who has
00:01:45.360 an arts degree in graphic design advising the committee which lacks a single
00:01:50.800 health care professional is dr. Theresa Tam Canada's chief doctor who was Hong Kong
00:01:56.620 born in the days after President Trump shut down flights from China Tam decried
00:02:03.280 what she called quote racist acts unquote in Canada linked to the corona virus
00:02:08.860 outbreak racist Canada is home to the second or third largest Chinese population
00:02:15.160 outside of Asia depending on who is counting heads the chief public health
00:02:20.080 officer herself is Chinese born in Hong Kong how could she decry this country as
00:02:26.560 racist against Chinese when she immigrated here got her MD worked in
00:02:33.160 government as a senior bureaucrat and has sent and since June of 2017 has been the
00:02:39.760 highest-ranking medical officer in the country that doesn't sound like a racist
00:02:44.260 country to me more accurately she sounds like just another sanctimonious liberal
00:02:49.660 bureaucrat president Trump on the other hand appointed a White House coronavirus
00:02:56.980 task force headed by the vice president its members consist of dr. Anthony Tony
00:03:03.220 Fauci the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases dr.
00:03:09.040 Deborah Birx the US global AIDS coordinator dr. Jerome Adams the US surgeon
00:03:14.800 general and dr. Ben Carson the HUD secretary and a pediatric neurosurgeon and
00:03:21.160 finally dr. Robert Redfield the director of the Center of Disease Control in
00:03:25.900 Atlanta all very serious professional people in Canada well not so much but the
00:03:33.640 most glaring difference occurs daily when the president and different members of
00:03:39.580 his task force hold their daily press briefings the president usually leads the
00:03:45.580 announcements part and then takes questions from the assembled media
00:03:49.480 sometimes for well over an hour Justin Trudeau has also taken a holding daily
00:03:55.240 press briefings he is alone at the podium outside his residence at Rideau cottage he
00:04:02.740 gives a briefing in which he doesn't say much of anything really and then
00:04:07.720 repeats it all in both English and French he takes a few mostly softball
00:04:12.980 questions from a pliant media if he is asked a tougher question what tumbles out of
00:04:18.820 his mouth is nonsensical word salad and a lot of stammering and stuttering he
00:04:24.580 doesn't actually answer the question and that excuses himself and retreats back
00:04:29.420 inside to his self-imposed exile in quarantine take a look at what he said
00:04:34.760 Friday when asked if it was smart to go ahead with the planned April 1st carbon
00:04:40.640 tax increase he stammered and stuttered and the reporter finally said you didn't
00:04:46.940 answer what was essentially a yes or no question she then asked to follow up and
00:04:52.820 what came out of his mouth was literally unintelligible baffle gab about a price
00:04:59.360 on pollution that would return more money to Canadians than it took right Mullen
00:05:04.640 global news agriculture groups and others are urging your government to drop
00:05:08.720 the plan to increase the carbon tax as of April 1st is that something you're
00:05:11.720 considering um we know that it is important that we put more money in the
00:05:17.300 pockets of Canadians at this point when they're stressed our plan on pricing
00:05:23.300 collusion pollution puts more money upfront into people's pockets than they
00:05:28.760 would pay with the new price on pollution we're going to continue to focus on
00:05:33.060 putting more money in people's pockets to support them right across the country we
00:05:38.160 know that this is an important measure for for for the future and we're going to
00:05:43.880 continue to ensure that we are thinking about the future while at the same time
00:05:49.220 we ensure that people can afford to make it through this crisis in the best
00:05:55.880 possible way we continue we continue to make sure that people have more money in
00:06:05.960 their pockets because that is how we designed the price on pollution huh only
00:06:12.560 Justin Trudeau would think it's okay to raise a tax during a pandemic that has
00:06:17.720 put so many Canadians onto the unemployment rolls his government seems to
00:06:24.140 feel it needs to throw money at to bail them out but then let's squeeze some more
00:06:29.800 of it out of Canadians by doubling the carbon tax this is not a serious leader for
