Juno News - 'Leave the kids alone!' The largest protest against gender ideology in Canadian history

00:00:00.000 Leave our kids alone, leave our kids alone, leave the kids alone, leave the kids alone. 1.00

00:00:20.460 Harrison Faulkner for True North, the largest protest against gender ideology in Canadian history took place in our nation's capital yesterday

00:00:28.000 and I was on the ground to capture the scenes.

00:00:30.840 Organized by Chris Elston, better known as Billboard Chris, and student activist leader Josh Alexander,

00:00:36.700 hundreds of parents, children, and students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds

00:00:41.580 showed up to peacefully reject gender ideology and indoctrination in Canadian schools.

00:00:47.440 Now on the other side, hundreds of counter-protesters also showed up to disrupt the event,

00:00:52.140 block the planned march, and in their words, drown out the hate.

00:00:55.820 Despite the fact that the protesters were far more peaceful than the counter-protesters were.

00:01:00.680 But nonetheless, there they were, making most of the noise, causing most of the trouble,

00:01:04.660 disguising their faces whether it was in black block like Antifa, or they were wearing masks,

00:01:09.620 and of course, waving their rainbow and transgender flags.

00:01:13.420 I approached the group of counter-protesters to see if anyone wanted to talk to an independent journalist

00:01:17.920 and explain why they were there, and as you can see, the group that was there to apparently drown out the hate

00:01:23.780 wasn't so happy to see an independent journalist wanting to ask them some questions.

00:01:29.360 We're going to try and ask some people why they're here, what brought them out.

00:01:33.800 Whoa! 0.71

00:01:34.700 We're going to ask some people out here what brought them out here,

00:01:37.260 and what their issue is with some people opposing gender ideology in schools.

00:01:41.920 We're going to try and block, you can see, the counter-protesters.

00:01:46.080 And here come the sirens.

00:01:48.000 Here come the sirens.

00:01:50.060 Is this what protecting transnational schools did?

00:01:53.820 What is the cusum?

00:01:57.780 What is the cusum?

00:01:58.520 What is the cusum?

00:02:03.400 What is the cusum?

00:02:05.420 What is the cusum?

00:02:06.120 Now, leading up to this protest, groups like Horizon Ottawa,

00:02:09.640 anti-hate network and other far-left organizations tried to rally the troops to oppose this protest

00:02:16.660 organized by billboard chris a press release put out by horizon ottawa labeled the event an

00:02:22.480 assembly of transphobic fascists they also went on to say that there's a growing connection between

00:02:27.740 the anti-transgender movement and white supremacists and as you can see now that wasn't

00:02:33.300 exactly what it looked like on the ground we've all seen the reports and viral videos coming out

00:02:37.720 of our schools these days at some point in canadian history our schools went from looking like this

00:02:43.760 to looking like this

00:02:52.540 and the parents that showed up to this protest yesterday aren't happy about it one bit take a

00:03:11.440 listen at what they have to say we teach about this and they are kids and even the baby my son

00:03:17.740 he's in kg2 they start to learn him in 21 of june they have a pride they have a celebrate for kids

00:03:24.040 like i don't know like what kind of life you are live and in this canada it's a freedom it's a

00:03:30.080 freedom for everyone well i think it's horrible because it's it's an agenda that's forced on our

00:03:36.320 children against parents wishes against parents knowledge and it's like the state is trying to

00:03:43.680 inculcate certain values in our children that we may not share and sort of separate them out from us

00:03:49.520 our kids are suffering from be witnessing things that they have never seen before they don't know

00:03:54.400 how to process it they don't know how to understand it school is for education for learning about math

00:04:01.120 english science that's that type of stuff not for them to learn about um other sex you know and they

00:04:09.920 are just children they shouldn't be learning about this stuff and i believe that they should just leave

00:04:17.280 the kids alone we're just here to support the children basically um adults we're fine with them

00:04:22.960 doing whatever they want all we all we're asking is that children be left alone that their innocence

00:04:28.080 and purity be left intact that's it we are protesting the uh shoving of their ideology to our kids in

00:04:35.600 school inappropriate media inappropriate content in school environment and it's none of their business

00:04:42.640 who's sexual who has what sexual uh preference and it's not for kids to be exposed to that it's not

00:04:49.440 an education for our kids education it's mass history geographic this is not an education we're here to

00:04:56.480 protect our kids there were some political figures in attendance as well yesterday on the conservative

00:05:02.080 side derek sloan the former conservative member of parliament and also conservative leadership

00:05:06.560 candidate spoke with true north about what his message would be to conservatives at both the

00:05:11.040 provincial and federal level who don't seem willing at all to fight back against gender ideology

00:05:16.480 here's what he had to say about that this is a lightning rod issue it will it will become more so

00:05:21.440 as more people wake up to it uh be at the front of the train not the back unfortunately the

00:05:26.880 conservatives are very afraid to touch social issues of any stripe they need to remember that all

00:05:33.280 issues are on the plate when it comes to winning over voters and in this particular crowd there's a

00:05:38.640 diverse crowd here there's a lot of muslims there's a lot of people from various backgrounds these are

00:05:43.200 voters but more than that this is the right thing to do and leadership should always do the right thing

00:05:49.280 whether it's popular or not on the counter-protester side ontario ndp provincial politician joel hardin

00:05:56.400 was there wearing a rainbow suit and waving a transgender flag before the event on thursday joel 0.98

00:06:03.680 hardin stood up in the provincial legislature queens park and called the event a hate rally watch this

00:06:10.320 we are sadly having to oppose an anti-transgender anti-queer hate rally that's happening at the foot of the

00:06:16.400 street hardin disappeared before i could catch up to him and ask him a few questions about his

00:06:21.120 decision to call the event in the legislature a hate rally i also had the chance of course to catch

00:06:27.200 up with both organizers billboard chris and josh alexander here's what they both had to say about

00:06:32.800 the event amazing this is the biggest protest in canadian history i think when you combine the

00:06:39.040 counter-protesters i think this is the biggest protest and counter-protest in the world there's probably a

00:06:44.560 thousand people here so at least it's amazing we're starting a lot of conversations which is my goal

00:06:51.360 the only thing that can ruin this is if people started getting violent so my goal is always to

00:06:55.760 have conversations and to start conversations and we're achieving that goal big time today so gender

00:06:59.680 ideology is actually deeply homophobic when you look at all the academic studies that have ever been

00:07:03.680 done into gender dysphoria 80 to 90 of these kids simply grew out of it when they went through puberty

00:07:09.520 puberty itself was the cure for gender dysphoria in almost all cases now we block the cure 1.00

00:07:14.160 but a majority of these kids historically actually grew up to be gay it makes a bit of sense when

00:07:18.400 you think about it an effeminate little boy might grow up to be gay but my message is one of true 1.00

00:07:25.360 body positivity my message is that there is no right way to be a boy or a girl if a girl is more 0.99

00:07:30.480 masculine if a boy is more feminine beautiful no problem if a girl wants to climb trees and play in 0.98

00:07:34.880 the dirt and hates wearing dresses she's a beautiful girl she's not trans and we need to get away from 1.00

00:07:41.600 this idea that just because children don't conform to sexist aggressive stereotypes that they were

00:07:46.000 born in the wrong body that's a psychologically abusive thing to teach a child and this whole

00:07:52.160 pronoun business as well when you use the wrong pronouns for a child what you're essentially doing

00:07:56.640 every time you do that is you're sending a message that that child was born wrong that that girl should

00:08:02.080 have been a boy or that boy should have been a girl and these kids are in school now receiving this

00:08:06.480 they're being reaffirmed thousands of times throughout the school year that they were born

00:08:10.000 wrong and so now they believe that the only way they'll find true happiness is by getting puberty

00:08:15.280 blocking drugs cross-sex hormones and surgeries that's nonsense we should be telling our kids

00:08:20.640 they're beautiful just as they are if they want to do something as an adult to modify their body

00:08:24.080 that's a different conversation so ultimately this is about education over indoctrination that's a

00:08:28.800 provincial issue and steven lecce the conservative so-called conservative education minister in ontario has

00:08:35.280 overseen the radical expansion of gender ideology in our schools what's your message to steven lecce

00:08:40.640 the education minister and also at the federal level conservatives who seem to not want to touch

00:08:45.120 this subject with a 10-foot pole this is a far-left political ideology that floated around academia for

00:08:50.480 decades and it's now emerged into the mainstream and they've been very successful in pushing this

00:08:56.720 because they say this is about helping children to be who they really are really is cutting off body

00:09:02.320 parts of a child helping them to be their true self i don't think so is stopping the physical

00:09:06.960 development of a child helping them to be who they really are it's absolute nonsense this is like a

00:09:11.760 cult that has permeated all of society and now it's in all of our schools and we can't let that remain

00:09:18.960 our children need to learn how to read write do arithmetic they don't need to be learning about

00:09:24.800 sexual orientations in kindergarten they don't need to be learning that maybe they're trans 0.87

00:09:28.560 in grade one or two this is just total nonsense leave these kids alone let them grow up stop

00:09:34.880 telling them that they're born in the wrong body quite an impressive turnout um i'm i'm excited to 1.00

00:09:40.240 see that people from every uh perspective have come here um obviously i disagree with the multitude of

00:09:46.800 them but um i think it's important that we have discussions it this has been a little more of a

00:09:51.200 hostile environment so it's been difficult to do so but uh we have been able to have a few uh successful

00:09:57.360 dialogues there and uh yeah all in all i'm happy we're starting conversations and that's what's

00:10:02.240 important i've been uh speaking and standing with and uh supporting little muslim boys that are no 0.99

00:10:09.760 taller than my knee we're uniting we're standing together and that's what's important this isn't

00:10:13.840 about hate we're actually uniting we're bringing people together under one common goal which is to

00:10:18.000 protect the kids from this gender ideology politicians need to you know get some rocks and 1.00

00:10:23.440 do what needs to be done um i mean all of canada has thrown their support behind pierre pauliev 0.98

00:10:28.800 he is a coward i i hate to say that the leader of the conservative party of canada is a coward

00:10:33.200 but uh he is and he's not alone um i have i have an issue with any politicians that's sitting on the 0.99

00:10:38.000 floor and ignoring these issues right now like we said the chance here are leave the kids alone 1.00

00:10:42.320 children cannot consent um it's pretty basic stuff uh there shouldn't even be a debate here

00:10:47.920 um but uh no it's not hateful at all we're here with the message of love and we've been giving out bibles and

00:10:52.080 preaching the gospel and giving the true the the the one greatest love story in history which is jesus

00:10:56.560 christ on the cross so i would say this is a message of love think the tide is going to turn

00:11:00.800 think this is going to finally go the opposite direction eventually i think we're getting there

00:11:04.720 uh young people aren't going to buy into this for very long and that's obviously their number one

00:11:08.160 target right now they want to get to the youth and uh it's important that we uh be there and they

00:11:12.400 know that they have people that support them and that will support the truth and uh i mean a lot

00:11:17.280 of people ask why we choose to give out bibles here whether it's a street preaching gig or

00:11:20.960 a protest and uh i'd be i mean i don't see why they can't be the same thing we're going here

00:11:25.600 kids are taught a lie and we're giving them the truth

00:11:34.960 oh
