00:00:31.520 conduct and radicalization. One of the questions presented to soldiers in this survey asks them if
00:00:37.840 they have purchased quote extremist merchandise such as a make Canada great again hat in the last
00:00:43.860 two to five years. Apparently the military seems to think that rooting out those dangerous right
00:00:48.860 wing extremists that want to make Canada great again is a priority. Not, you know, fixing whatever
00:00:54.580 this is. Or perhaps trying to solve the attrition and recruitment crisis. Or the dire equipment and
00:01:01.660 ammunition shortage. Yes, we are supposed to be on a war footing. We share a northern border with a
00:01:08.020 country that is at war with an ally. But right now, rooting out those extremists is more important.
00:01:13.680 Make Canada great again in the eyes of our military, in the eyes of our last line of defense is now an
00:01:20.760 extremist slogan. Now on this show, we are going to be exposing the entirety of this survey sent out to
00:01:27.320 Canadian soldiers. A survey that we have exclusively obtained here at True North. But before we do, be sure

00:01:53.680 soldiers on deployment is shockingly very concerned now about the prevalence of right-wing extremists
00:02:00.660 in the ranks. How did this happen? We're smarter than this. Apparently not. And just a few months ago,
00:02:06.420 NATO was telling Canada to prepare for war. So of course, the Canadian military leadership in an effort to
00:02:12.780 battle-harden our troops and get them focused on killing the enemy, they have decided to send out
00:02:18.720 this independent survey to try to combat right-wing extremists in the military. Can't think of a better
00:02:25.260 way to prepare for war with Russia and China. This survey is part of a larger independent study
00:02:31.280 led by Ontario Tech University and University of New Brunswick titled, Hateful Conduct and Right-Wing
00:02:37.100 Extremism in the Canadian Armed Forces. So the survey begins by asking soldiers if they suspect members
00:02:43.640 of their current unit or members outside of their unit to belong to extremist groups. Following that
00:02:49.220 set of opening questions, they are then presented with this series of questions asking them if in the
00:02:54.640 past two to five years they have done any of the following, which include liked an extremist group post on
00:03:01.860 social media, donated to an extremist group cause, purchased an extremist group merchandise, such as
00:03:08.820 a Make Canada Great Again hat, provided strategic advice or training to an extremist group, or formerly been
00:03:16.020 a member of an extremist group. The questions continue and get more bizarre, such as in the past two to five
00:03:23.280 years, have you sported a tattoo or clothing with extremist symbols or phrases, verbally or physically
00:03:29.400 attacked a member of a racial, religious, sexual or other minority group because of their identity,
00:03:34.920 provided military weapons or other resources to an extremist group, searched for and watched extremist
00:03:42.000 music and or videos, or openly displayed extremist symbols such as a swastika or a confederate flag.
00:03:50.060 By the way, what is extremist music? I can't imagine what that might be, like confederate war songs?
00:03:56.100 And imagine being stupid enough to say yes to any of those questions. But the survey just gets
00:04:02.560 weirder. You see, the questions then transition to asking soldiers to indicate to what extent they
00:04:08.220 agree with the following statements. And we're going to read these statements out to you.
00:04:11.820 To what extent they agree with the statement,
00:04:13.880 Jews have too much control over important institutions like the media, politics and the economy.
00:04:19.980 Or, Canada appears to be moving toward fascism under the current government.
00:04:24.140 Non-white immigration trends are a threat to white people. Immigrants bring with them values that
00:04:30.120 don't belong in Canada. The federal government is corrupt and untrustworthy. Minority groups are
00:04:36.140 provided with too many supports. There is a natural hierarchy among races. Preferably blacks and whites
00:04:43.240 should not get married. Jews have too much influence in Canada. The federal government restricted
00:04:48.940 personal freedoms too much during the COVID pandemic. Oh, I don't know how anyone could possibly,
00:04:54.140 answer that question. They didn't restrict anyone's freedoms. Jews try to take advantage of having
00:04:58.760 been victims during the Nazi era. And the Muslim culture fits well in Canada. So the survey goes on
00:05:04.800 with the following statements. It is a good thing to allow marriages between two men and two women.
00:05:09.900 Women should take their role as wives and mothers more seriously. We need to protect our own culture
00:05:14.860 from the influence of other cultures. The majority of Muslims find terrorism justifiable.
00:05:19.700 When jobs are scarce, men should have more rights to a job than women. There is nothing immoral about
00:05:25.180 homosexuality. And then here is the last page of statements. I would be reluctant to send my
00:05:30.840 children to a school where the majority of pupils are immigrants. Canada is letting in too many
00:05:35.360 immigrants into this country. The Canadian government favors immigrants over veterans. The current government
00:05:40.500 does not support military personnel or those who have served. Being gay is still considered a negative
00:05:45.980 factor toward occupational progression. And there are too many minorities in the military. So those
00:05:51.100 are the questions asked to Canadian soldiers in this survey, which of course the military seems to
00:05:56.760 think is very important. What exactly do the people behind this survey and the military think they're
00:06:02.700 going to get out of this? Do they genuinely think extremists are going to answer yes to any of these
00:06:07.300 questions? That the data they're going to get from this is actually valuable in any way? And furthermore,
00:06:12.880 take a look at some of these questions. I mean, yes, there are obvious questions in this survey that
00:06:18.960 an extremist would agree with quite obviously. But then there are questions like the federal government
00:06:24.660 restricted freedoms too much during the pandemic. Are you an extremist for saying you strongly agree
00:06:30.120 to that question? Are you an extremist for saying you strongly agree to the statement that the Canadian
00:06:35.840 government favors immigrants over veterans or that the current government does not support military
00:06:41.220 personnel or veterans? Both of those statements one could easily argue is true. How many newcomers do
00:06:47.080 you see in this country on the street, homeless, begging for money and lining up for food banks or
00:06:52.460 addicted to drugs? You see a lot more veterans than you do new immigrants. That's for sure. And how about
00:06:57.440 the question Canada is letting in too many immigrants into this country? The majority of Canadians strongly agree
00:07:03.600 or somewhat agree with that statement. So are the majority of Canadians now extremists? Or the statement
00:07:09.520 that we need to protect our culture from the influence of other cultures? Wanting to protect
00:07:14.700 your culture is not extremist. It's human instinct. Now the woman behind this research study is Dr.
00:07:21.580 Barbara Perry, the anti-hate researcher from the Ontario Tech University. Now Dr. Perry is credited
00:07:29.560 for coming up with a list of allegedly 300 active right-wing extremist groups in this country.
00:07:36.320 Now this list of 300 active far-right hate groups has been cited by the Canadian government for
00:07:42.660 justification to advance anti-hate and censorship legislation. But when True North back in 2022
00:07:49.200 sought access to that list of 300 active far-right hate groups through a freedom of information request,
00:07:55.960 Dr. Barbara Perry went to extreme lengths to prevent that list from being released. And recently,
00:08:01.160 actually, an Ontario Privacy Commissioner ruled that that list would remain private. So we as Canadians
00:08:08.140 aren't actually allowed to know who these 300 active far-right hate groups are. But Dr. Perry gets to
00:08:14.740 work alongside the Canadian Armed Forces and try to run a study to root out and combat right-wing
00:08:20.840 extremists in the military. Because that's the issue that we need to take seriously right now.
00:08:25.140 That's the real concern right now. But let's get into the details of the military. The biggest issue
00:08:29.480 facing our military, as every Canadian knows, is the fact that no one is signing up and too many
00:08:34.740 troops are leaving. Right now, the military claims to have a force of 63,000 soldiers, well below the
00:08:41.380 authorized strength of 71,000, a shortfall of approximately 8,500. The Canadian military seeks
00:08:47.980 to have 5,900 new recruits each year, a target they have not reached for several years in a row.
00:08:54.100 And there are reports that upwards of 9,000 troops are leaving each year. So you do the math. Now,
00:09:00.680 you would think that Canada, with our longest coastline in the world, would have a world-class
00:09:05.900 Navy. But right now, our Navy is far from it. In fact, last year, the Vice Admiral of Canada's Navy,
00:09:12.480 Vice Admiral Angus Topps, she made a YouTube video telling the world, actually, that there weren't
00:09:17.340 enough sailors to operate our fleet. And one of the new efforts by the Royal Canadian Navy to try to
00:09:22.780 get new sailors into the ranks is apparently to scrap one of the Royal Canadian Navy's traditional
00:09:27.980 marching songs, Hearts of Oak.
00:09:30.020 Come cheer up, my lads, tis to glory be steer, to add something more to this wonderful year.
00:09:39.780 Heart of Oak, according to a Defense Department spokeswoman, is too sexist and too colonial for the
00:09:47.260 modern Royal Canadian Navy. As she says,
00:09:50.240 First performed in 1760, Heart of Oak contains language that does not align with the values and
00:09:56.240 ethos of today's Royal Canadian Navy or the broader Canadian Armed Forces. Specifically,
00:10:01.620 it includes references to colonialism and slavery and language that is not representative of all those
00:10:07.600 who serve in today's Navy. Furthermore, Bill Blair, Canada's Defense Minister, has endorsed the
00:10:13.480 scrapping of the Royal Canadian Navy marching song saying, I think the Royal Canadian Navy has every
00:10:19.660 right to continue to advance and modernize. And if they want to have an anthem that's appropriate
00:10:24.220 for them and theirs alone, how can we say no?
00:10:27.360 How about no?
00:10:28.640 Canada's a diverse country. We need great people in the Canadian Armed Forces and great people for us
00:10:33.420 includes great women, great Indigenous candidates, great diverse Canadians are all part of what makes
00:10:39.480 a great and strong Canadian Armed Forces. Actually, you know what makes a great and strong Canadian
00:10:44.000 Armed Forces? Strong and lethal soldiers. Deadly soldiers. A military that is able to kill the enemy
00:10:52.160 and win battles. Not diversity. Not more women. The majority of the members of the Canadian Armed Forces
00:10:59.060 are white Canadian men. Why is that such a bad thing? The majority of people who want to sign up for
00:11:04.800 the military are likely white men. Don't you think you should be trying to appeal to the people that
00:11:10.340 are most likely going to sign up for the military in the first place instead of denigrating our history,
00:11:15.080 denigrating our country, humiliating our troops with tampons and mail washrooms, telling patriots
00:11:21.340 and nationalists who want to make Canada great again that owning a hat that says make Canada great
00:11:27.500 again is actually extremist? That's the insane part here. Our military leadership probably thinks the
00:11:32.600 majority of Canadian troops who are likely white men and are patriotic and nationalists, they probably
00:11:39.920 think that they are extremists. That's insane. That is absolute insanity. So I asked the question
00:11:45.620 again and it's a common question of this video. Why is the Canadian military doing this to itself?
