Juno News - Mark Carney is trying to evade the media about potential conflicts of interest

On today's show, we have a special guest on the show to talk about the scandal surrounding Mark Kearney and his conflicts of interest with Brookfield Asset Management, and how the media should be doing its job and covering it.

00:00:00.000 So we reported this over at Juno News, that the Conservatives demand that Mark Kearney reveal his Brookfield stock options.

00:00:07.840 And so one of the things that we learned is that he got a multimillion dollar stock option deal.

00:00:12.740 So, Desmond, even if he puts his money into a blind trust, he knows that he has a lot of money in Brookfield.

00:00:20.600 And there was a report that just came out as we were coming on air that shows that while he was chair of Brookfield, the company's assets increased by like 20 percent or something like that.

00:00:30.760 Whereas in Canada, they actually decreased.

00:00:32.420 So Canada, they lost jobs.

00:00:34.800 Obviously, they moved their headquarters out of Canada, even though it's a Canadian company.

00:00:38.020 It's now majority of its assets are in the U.S. and American companies, which goes to show like even a Canadian asset management company doesn't want to invest in Canada because of these liberal policies.

00:00:47.500 But I think that this is a bigger issue. I know it's a bit complicated and maybe it's not, you know, really easy for Canadians to understand. But the more you kind of look into his finances and the way it's structured and this wine trust and his refusal on him saying, what possible conflicts could I have? And now coming out, admitting that he could have conflicts and that he's going to allow the ethics commissioner to create a screen.

00:01:10.160 this was reported in the national post you can see there carney admits to potential conflicts

00:01:13.760 of interest with brookfield after saying like 24 hours earlier like what possible conflict

00:01:18.960 um could i have in fading outrage i you know i think that that it is shown that there is a

00:01:24.160 problem here that even the media can't ignore what do you think i i think the fact that you

00:01:28.880 have legacy media commenting on it is a very big signal that obviously there is something too big

00:01:34.880 to ignore and you know conflicts of interest they arise all the time with various politicians that's

00:01:40.480 it's not like this is anything new the amount of money that he has it's not like that is anything

00:01:45.360 new you know it doesn't really at the end of the day it's annoying to me because obviously

00:01:50.320 you're being touted as an outsider who is i've been around the world i know what to do i know

00:01:55.520 what canadians want i'm like you haven't even lived here in 10 years up until january when you

00:01:59.760 a lot of property um but okay um like i just think overall you know he's so unbelievably

00:02:05.440 unrelatable and it's bizarre the shielding that's happening and the fact that finally you have some

00:02:11.600 people saying that something here isn't right and we're going to start calling you out on it

00:02:16.240 to have him react in such a way is just bizarre to me um and also you know more than that it's

00:02:22.960 been shocking to see the left eat itself alive right now and the amount of people who have been

00:02:29.040 coming after Rosemary Barton for her follow-up question. Oh, she was so disrespectful. How is

00:02:34.960 she so disrespectful for saying what she said? That sounds like good journalism, actually. Thank

00:02:41.300 goodness. Maybe we can get back to more of that because that's how it should be. You're supposed

00:02:44.680 to press and get answers rather than shield people.
