00:00:29.940 organization or with this statement but in full transparency I thought that was important to say

00:00:34.280 and I wanted to make this video just to sort of clarify what is going on in that particular region

00:00:39.660 and what are the couple things that are wrong with Mr. Angus's statement because there are a couple

00:00:44.020 things that are actually critically wrong that most Canadians do not necessarily know. Now I'll start

00:00:48.820 off with the first part and that's the title of the article we shared which basically says

00:00:58.360 what is a settler, what is a Palestinian, what is an Israeli Arab, what are all these things.

00:01:02.320 Now if you look at the map of Gaza and the West Bank and Israel it's one of the more popular type

00:01:08.360 of maps you would get out there. That border between Israel and the West Bank often that border is

00:01:14.080 referred to as the 1967 border. That's actually the 1948 border that is basically the armistice line

00:01:19.640 where the war in 1948 stopped. So that's it's called the green line again because the story is

00:01:25.940 that one of the people whipped out a green pen to sort of demarc that line the ceasefire line and

00:01:31.200 that is what is known as the 1967 borders that is prior to the 1967 war the so-called six-day war. Now

00:01:39.040 after that war Israel took control of Gaza and what is known as the West Bank or Judea and Samaria.

00:01:44.380 It's called the West Bank because it's the West Bank of the Jordan River from the country of Jordan.

00:01:48.380 If they have ever wondered why that is. Now there are two types of people who would be living there.

00:01:53.920 There would be Palestinians and settlers, Israeli settlers. Now those terms are very loaded but

00:01:58.700 Palestinians themselves you could be a Palestinian and live in Israel proper and have Israeli citizenship

00:02:03.880 or you could be a Palestinian who lives under Palestinian authority rule and that would be in

00:02:08.280 the West Bank and so you are not a citizen of Israel if you live in the West Bank and are under

00:02:13.780 Palestinian authority rule but you are a citizen of Israel and you would get the vaccine 1.00

00:02:17.640 from the Israeli government if you live inside Israel proper. Now settlers are Israelis usually 0.86

00:02:23.560 Jews who want to move to Judea and Samaria which is the spiritual and ancestral homeland of the Jewish

00:02:29.840 people. These are cities from the Bible where events in the Bible took place important to Judaism

00:02:36.000 to Christianity so it's not just you know kind of random places out there that Israel you know

00:02:41.000 captured from another country in war and the areas are disputed as opposed to necessarily occupied and

00:02:55.340 trying to keep this strictly to Charlie Angus's statements because that's important to us here

00:02:58.960 in Canada. All right so that covers in a basic nutshell maybe Palestinians, Israeli, Arab settlers.

00:03:05.100 Now what is the other issue in Charlie Angus's statement and why I think the organization might

00:03:10.660 have accused him of promoting so-called anti-semitic conspiracy theories? That is because later on in

00:03:15.740 the statement he talks about the fact that Israel, the Israeli government, carefully controls who gets

00:03:20.620 in and what is allowed into the Palestinian territory. All right so the problem is that this type of 0.98

00:03:27.120 language makes it sound like Israel is solely responsible for everything that goes on into Gaza and even

00:03:31.880 possibly the West Bank but anyone who looks at a map can see that Gaza does not just border Israel

00:03:37.180 it actually borders another country and that country is Egypt. Egypt also has a blockade on Gaza for the

00:03:42.480 very same reason that Israel does and that is because the government in Gaza is Hamas which is listed as

00:03:48.080 a terror organization in Canada as well as a number of other places. So for Charlie Angus to really just

00:03:55.380 focus on criticizing Israel or talk about you know criticism of Canadian policy toward Israel because of their

00:04:01.380 blockade of Gaza there's almost never and I mean almost never I've almost never maybe once or twice

00:04:07.040 in my life seen people discuss the fact that Egypt has a very similar if not tougher blockade against

00:04:13.920 against Gaza that is again because the government is a terrorist organization and they have ties to the

00:04:19.040 Muslim Brotherhood and to Iran both of which Egypt is not happy about and so they maintain a very strict

00:04:24.380 blockade on the Gaza Strip as well. Now if you want to talk about you know things that are allowed or not

00:04:30.180 allowed into Gaza then I'm gonna see if we can put up links to a Twitter feed and the hashtag I believe

00:04:36.340 is the Gaza you don't see and it talks about all the really high priced and you know five-star hotels

00:04:41.640 and elite things in Gaza which you would not necessarily expect if you just listen to some of

00:04:46.720 the mainstream coverage about you know about the Israeli-Arab conflict and about what is happening

00:04:51.480 in Gaza so we'll put up some of those pictures and maybe some of those links as well in the comments.

00:04:55.480 So in a nutshell I think that is the issue and people need to know or at the very least should

00:05:01.020 keep in mind that when you're criticizing Israel it is obviously 100% okay to criticize the country 0.99

00:05:07.080 but there are many sort of touch points where these things tend to bleed into anti-semitism and that

00:05:12.160 usually is around focusing on Israel as the sole cause of problems or not discussing in this case

00:05:18.240 the fact that Egypt also plays a role in the blockade of Gaza. Now you know I'm not trying to accuse

00:05:23.620 Charlie Angus of anything in particular in this video I just wanted to clarify those particular

00:05:27.840 statements I mean that's for you know beneath Canada to address or discuss with Charlie Angus
