The stay-at-home order has been on the books for a few days now, and a lot of people are not even aware of it. Is it because they are unaware of how extreme the order is, or because they just don't care?

00:00:00.000 hey folks i'm down here by the boardwalk of the beaches area of downtown toronto
00:00:10.640 it's not very busy right now because it's early in the morning but i gotta tell you the past
00:00:15.060 couple days it has been packed people getting in walks getting in exercise playing some sports
00:00:20.940 erecting volleyball nets on the beaches yesterday i was traveling from one end of toronto to the
00:00:26.720 other driving across the highway you look out on the streets you see places are pretty much packed
00:00:31.660 outdoors you pass soccer fields and people are playing soccer there are people who are going
00:00:36.460 downtown for a protest in queens park to protest the lockdowns the stay-at-home order there's also
00:00:41.280 a whole lot of people coming into downtown to participate in protests related to what's going
00:00:45.480 on in the middle east right now lots of people doing all that sort of stuff and you say fury
00:00:49.800 what's the big deal why are you telling me this i mean this is a pretty common thing for a a nice
00:00:54.300 warm day spring day summer day in downtown toronto people making their views heard on political
00:00:58.840 issues and people just live in their lives well the reason i'm telling you is because all of those
00:01:03.420 things that i mentioned they are illegal you can't do it you'll get at least a 750 fine if you do it
00:01:10.360 supposedly according to the letter of the law guess what people are not following that anymore people
00:01:16.920 have made the decision forget about it i don't care or maybe they just don't even know about it so a few
00:01:22.960 days ago doug ford reinstated the stay-at-home order until at least june 2nd apparently some of
00:01:29.280 his advisors said you got to do it longer than that you got to do it well into june not just a
00:01:33.180 two-week extension you got to do a four-week extension now i've previously said that i think
00:01:37.760 a lot of people just don't realize how extreme this stay-at-home order actually is how it is illegal
00:01:43.020 to meet a friend grab a starbucks coffee outside from the pickup window or what have you and then go
00:01:48.520 sit at a picnic table together and and uh share that coffee well you know chatting about what's
00:01:53.240 going on that is illegal actually on multiple fronts you can't access picnic tables so there's
00:01:58.140 one fine against you and you can't meet someone uh who is not within your own household outdoors
00:02:03.040 you're saying fury is is that true can that really be yes that's that's in fact the case that's the
00:02:08.180 letter of the law even though out of ontario's approximately 15 million people there were probably
00:02:13.160 millions of instances of breaking the stay-at-home order that have gone on just this weekend alone
00:02:18.760 and i gotta wonder what is the point of having this law in the books not only having on the books
00:02:24.020 in the first place but extending it well into the summer when it's kind of obvious that hundreds of
00:02:29.040 thousands of people millions of people are going to say i don't actually want to follow this either
00:02:33.020 because they're unaware of how extreme the law is so they don't know they're breaking the law
00:02:36.680 or because they just say forget about it screw it now i had originally anticipated that
00:02:41.480 we would see crowds really increasing at the protests against the lockdowns because of these
00:02:46.400 new measures and we did see that the queen's park protest uh uh just on saturday was much larger than
00:02:51.720 they have been in the past but at the same time i don't think that's the big protest movement we're
00:02:55.900 seeing what the big protest movement is is just all of these people saying yeah thanks but no thanks
00:03:00.980 we just don't care that ontarians are saying we're aware of the stay-at-home order or we're not
00:03:05.900 but whatever it is we're gonna make our own informed choices
00:03:11.480 so
00:03:13.480 you
00:03:14.480 you
00:03:16.480 you
00:03:18.480 you
00:03:20.480 you
00:03:22.480 you
00:03:24.480 you
00:03:26.480 you
