00:00:00.000 And then the worst president in the history of our country took over.
00:00:03.880 And look what happened to our country!
00:00:06.360 What happened to our country?
00:00:11.720 On Saturday, July 13th, I went down to Butler, Pennsylvania
00:00:24.260 to see former U.S. President and Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump at his rally.
00:00:30.000 I went down with my brothers to get content for this show.
00:00:32.760 We wanted to hear from Americans about why they were voting for Trump
00:00:35.840 and what they thought about Joe Biden.
00:00:37.380 We never expected to witness an assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump that day.
00:00:43.960 We arrived early.
00:00:45.480 The mood was very upbeat as thousands of people trickled in.
00:00:49.480 I have never seen a political rally of such magnitude.
00:00:53.160 We began interviewing from people to hear about why they were voting for Trump.
00:00:56.280 We heard things like,
00:00:58.340 I like his stance on the economy.
00:01:00.120 Or I like his policies on the border crisis.
00:01:02.960 It was an extremely hot day.
00:01:04.300 It felt like 34 degrees Celsius that day.
00:01:06.760 But that didn't deter the thousands of people who were eager to hear
00:01:09.740 their former and perhaps future president speak that day.
00:01:13.080 I was fortunate enough to be in the media booth where I had shade and water.
00:01:16.380 But I saw multiple people in the crowd pass out.
00:01:18.780 Medics were quick to arrive on scene.
00:01:20.240 Finally, at around 6 p.m., we heard that the former president had arrived
00:01:25.200 and that Donald Trump would soon take the stage.
00:01:28.120 I rushed to the front of the media tent, eager to get the best possible view
00:01:32.100 of the president who I had never heard speak before
00:01:35.300 and was admittedly very curious and excited to see.
00:01:38.740 The president hadn't been speaking for very long, just a couple of minutes,
00:01:42.400 talking about the state of disrepair in America under current U.S. President Joe Biden.
00:01:47.100 When shots began to ring out across the crowd, just to the left of me,
00:01:51.740 the audience immediately fell to their knees,
00:01:53.920 as did Donald Trump, who was quickly swarmed by Secret Service agents,
00:01:57.840 who jumped on top of the president to protect him in an incredible act of bravery.
00:02:02.000 For a couple of seconds, nobody moved.
00:02:04.540 And I honestly wondered to myself in that moment whether Donald Trump had been killed.
00:02:09.120 A couple moments later, his Secret Service agents rose to the ground,
00:02:13.180 as did Donald Trump.
00:02:14.140 I could see the blood trickling from his ear.
00:02:17.700 And yet, he pushed his arm through his agents and began pumping it in the air,
00:02:23.060 chanting, fight, fight, fight.
00:02:29.560 The crowd returned in kind, cheering for their nominee and chanting, USA, USA.
00:02:37.480 The president was then whisked away.
00:02:39.700 It would take a little while to learn exactly what had happened.
00:02:42.020 And for a bit, there was speculation that maybe we had only heard fireworks go off.
00:02:46.440 Maybe the president was bleeding because of how hard his Secret Service agents tackled him.
00:02:51.100 We would soon learn that the president had, in fact, been hit by a bullet that grazed his ear,
00:02:55.520 and that he would be okay.
00:02:57.100 One member of the audience was struck and killed by the gunfire,
00:03:00.360 an American patriot and volunteer firefighter,
00:03:02.720 and at least two others were critically hurt.
00:03:05.640 As I walked out of the grounds, I was in shock.
00:03:08.120 I looked over at my brothers and I realized all the footage we had captured that day was obsolete.
00:03:12.980 Nobody cared about Joe Biden anymore,
00:03:15.100 or whether Donald Trump's policies on the border or the economy were better.
00:03:19.100 The story was now what had happened that day.
00:03:21.400 Did security fail?
00:03:22.800 And how did a shooter get just 150 yards from a former president,
00:03:26.420 close enough to shoot him in the ear and to kill an American patriot?
00:03:29.800 How did the American people feel about what had happened? 0.94
00:03:32.680 How did they feel about the division in their country, and how would that heal?
00:03:35.700 And where do we go from here?
00:03:37.640 I asked all those questions and more, and you'll hear them next.
00:03:41.060 I'm Rachel Parker, and this is Rachel in the Republic.
00:03:52.720 You know, what happened? Do you even know if it was a gunshot?
00:03:54.980 People thought it was fireworks.
00:03:56.780 Yeah, I thought it was fireworks.
00:03:57.820 Because I looked over, I was right by the fence, not too far from the fence,
00:04:01.700 and all of a sudden, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.
00:04:05.500 It was like five shots or six shots total.
00:04:07.660 We're about 50 feet from the bleachers, and we heard pop, pop, pop, pop.
00:04:12.620 Well, I thought it was firecrackers going off.
00:04:15.140 And I'm thinking, why are there firecrackers?
00:04:17.180 And then I looked at the stage, and about six Secret Service guys had already jumped onto Trump.
00:04:22.780 We were literally like 20 feet away, so there were two people that were shot in the stands that were down.
00:04:29.340 So they came and grabbed them and took them out, but we thought they were the shooters.
00:04:33.480 So it was a lot of confusion.
00:04:35.760 Bullets went about 20 yards over me.
00:04:37.940 It ricocheted off the John Deere, I believe, and there was a gentleman shot not far from me.
00:04:43.440 But it was crazy.
00:04:45.560 It's amazing.
00:04:47.140 So you saw someone got shot?
00:04:48.960 Well, yeah, they brought the guy down out of the grandstand.
00:04:52.860 He was shot, yes.
00:04:56.020 And then there were people all over the ground.
00:04:58.760 I'm just, I'm livid.
00:05:00.840 Like, you know, everybody was having a good time getting along here, supporting each other.
00:05:04.560 The fellowship, the energy, and then all of a sudden, you have this evilness come over.
00:05:10.720 And, like, the sense of fear just wiped over everybody.
00:05:14.320 And everybody hit the grass so fast.
00:05:17.020 But the way they came together around President Trump and how everybody hugged each other in the stands, I just can't believe this happened here today.
00:05:25.920 I mean, it's scary.
00:05:27.540 You know, one minute you're selling food and just trying to get by for the rest of the day.
00:05:32.380 The next minute you hear shots.
00:05:34.220 I told everybody, I said, go in the car, go in the truck, everybody in the truck, everybody go.
00:05:37.100 That shot's fired.
00:05:37.720 Go, go, go.
00:05:38.200 And then we stood there and waited.
00:05:40.760 And as people were evacuating, then somebody came up and said, hey, there's a suspicious package.
00:05:44.860 Everybody's got to get out.
00:05:45.620 Get out now.
00:05:46.120 Everybody get out.
00:05:46.760 So I made sure all these guys got out here and we're all safe.
00:05:49.320 I feel bad.
00:05:51.920 I feel bad this happened.
00:05:53.360 I feel worse now than after it occurred.
00:05:55.580 I think it's now just starting to get to me the magnitude of what happened.
00:06:00.360 Incredibly sad day for our country in the United States that this could occur again, that we can't settle our differences the way they should be settled through dialogue.
00:06:11.940 Shock, dismay, anger, but also hope and optimism for President Trump based upon the way that I saw him leave the stage.
00:06:23.720 How do you think this is going to impact the president's campaign?
00:06:25.660 Is he going to be able to hold events like this?
00:06:27.560 That's a good question.
00:06:31.160 I don't know.
00:06:33.180 Because if he can't be secure here with the security he has, how can he be ever now?
00:06:38.380 Well, I think he's used to taking risks with the security around it.
00:06:44.140 I mean, that's a possibility.
00:06:45.560 In fact, I was thinking on the way here, what if somebody would bring a gun?
00:06:49.860 Like, they check everything.
00:06:51.000 And I ask security, have you gotten any contraband yet?
00:06:55.820 And they said, yeah, we got a couple knives and stuff.
00:06:59.180 And I thought, you saw the list.
00:07:01.300 Don't bring that stuff. 1.00
00:07:02.860 You know, don't be stupid. 1.00
00:07:04.120 No, nothing will stop them. 1.00
00:07:05.840 You know, see this?
00:07:06.940 Never surrender.
00:07:07.700 I think it would obviously be prudent.
00:07:10.220 We are not going to see wide open rallies like this anymore.
00:07:14.940 Or I would assume that we would not.
00:07:17.600 But I can't imagine he's going to stop campaigning.
00:07:20.620 I just think that the level of security for him will be raised to the highest bar.
00:07:27.940 Everything cleared for conceivable distances.
00:07:31.600 He's going to continue campaigning.
00:07:33.100 The last thing he's going to do is hide out in his basement and campaign from there like Joe Biden does.
00:07:38.060 This has never happened.
00:07:39.300 The last time this has happened in my lifetime was Ronald Reagan.
00:07:42.080 I was a boy.
00:07:43.320 This is just crazy.
00:07:44.640 I don't know what they'll go for the convention being this upcoming week.
00:07:48.860 I'm just glad that everyone's safe here.
00:07:52.760 And again, pray for those who were actually hit with the bullets.
00:07:57.360 And with Trump coming out in that moment and putting his fist up, what do you think that says about him?
00:08:00.400 Well, I did happen to get that on my video.
00:08:03.300 That he, at first, you know, I thought maybe he was in bad shape.
00:08:06.920 But I did get him.
00:08:08.120 I saw that.
00:08:08.880 And that makes me feel good.
00:08:11.020 A lot of people were turning towards the media and yelling shame on you afterwards.
00:08:15.620 You are.
00:08:16.400 Why is the media?
00:08:17.140 You.
00:08:17.700 Why?
00:08:18.220 You.
00:08:19.100 Why is the media?
00:08:20.440 You.
00:08:21.120 Do you think the media is to blame in part for this or at all?
00:08:24.720 No, I don't think the media is to blame at all.
00:08:26.920 I really don't.
00:08:27.800 I just think it's the brainwashing of, you know, they see the right as the evil and against everything.
00:08:37.100 That just shows you right there that that's not what it is.
00:08:41.200 You know, if anything, there was so much love here and so much compassion for everybody.
00:08:48.980 That should show what we stand for and what we're about.
00:08:52.300 No, I don't know anything about the media.
00:08:53.920 I don't know what they didn't do anything.
00:08:55.240 What are they doing?
00:08:55.760 Well, I don't know what they're talking about with the shame.
00:08:58.040 That was probably before or after.
00:08:59.720 Media didn't do anything but records like you guys are doing right now.
00:09:02.200 The media have been lying about what's about Trump for how long now.
00:09:06.080 The four years he was in and the four years that he had or three and a half years he hasn't been in.
00:09:10.520 This is who we blame.
00:09:11.340 The media.
00:09:11.960 They've carried on this narrative that is fake.
00:09:14.600 It's a hoax.
00:09:15.580 And then Biden and all this.
00:09:17.580 He's a felon taking him to court.
00:09:19.360 That's that's all a hoax.
00:09:20.780 None of it is true.
00:09:21.920 And that's why these sort of things are going to happen.
00:09:25.760 A lot of people just don't even follow like mainstream media anymore.
00:09:28.840 They follow YouTube and different channels and people who actually do the research and you know are are at the events and you know follow what's going on.
00:09:38.000 I'm only laying the blame at the feet of the shooters or shooter whoever they are not blaming anybody else.
00:09:44.000 I think the Secret Service always does as fantastic a job as they can protecting the people that they are supposed to protect and balancing that need for protection with the need for the public for access and for their protectees to to you know do what they need to do politically in our realm.
00:10:02.520 If the shooter came from that area right there and no one cleared that room no one cleared that that building right there that's no good.
00:10:09.320 That's no good.
00:10:09.880 Someone failed.
00:10:10.580 Someone needs to get fired. 0.99
00:10:11.880 So you think people need to be taken responsible for this like his Secret Service.
00:10:15.260 I don't know who.
00:10:16.220 I don't know who.
00:10:16.660 But whoever's responsible for clearing that area where the sniper was or where the shooter was you know and someone didn't do it.
00:10:24.940 Why what I don't know what someone messed up.
00:10:26.940 It's just horrifying and there were snipers on the roof so it's like how did they not see wherever these gunshots were coming from.
00:10:35.080 Like people were definitely hit by bullets and then there were other people near us that had the bullets just miss their heads.
00:10:40.040 They could hear them swishing over their heads.
00:10:42.380 I don't know how the hell the guy got up there.
00:10:43.920 They said that they said yeah they said they got the guy.
00:10:47.580 I don't I don't know.
00:10:48.340 I heard Trump got hit in the air but yeah not not in a million years would I expect something like this to happen.
00:10:53.560 I'm not surprised it happened.
00:10:55.060 I figured that somebody would make an attempt on him.
00:10:57.300 I mean they're trying to take away his Secret Service for a while there.
00:11:00.780 What are you feeling about the state of the country that someone came and showed this is my understanding this has never happened.
00:11:05.060 It's messed up.
00:11:05.360 It's really messed up that the state of the country is at this at this phase in our country right now.
00:11:12.640 I hope we can fight through this.
00:11:14.500 The evilness in the world today that somebody would come here on such an innocent event and shoot shoot at the president shoot at whoever and not have that like there's no conscience whatsoever.
00:11:30.160 You know there's a lot of bad people in this country and it's obvious everyone said they were going to take a shot at him and today was their day they tried.
00:11:38.260 Where do you think you go from here nowhere but up he's still going to keep running he'll still be our president yeah he'll get things back in order as a nation we've we've just got to focus on solving our differences in a better manner this is not the way it's not the way everybody knows this is not the way getting Trump in office is going to hail this country that's how I feel.
00:12:04.980 Okay everyone that's all we have time for today thank you so much for tuning in to this very special episode I hope you appreciated the content that I was able to capture in the moments following the failed assassination attempt of former US president and Republican presidential nominee he will be confirmed this week at the RNC and we'll have more content for you guys on that this week.
00:12:33.160 I hope to see you then God bless.
