Juno News - The Liberal Long-Gun Registry Lives On

In this episode of the Andrew Lawton Show, I discuss a story from the Toronto Sun by Brian Lilly, who will be featured in the upcoming documentary, Assaulted: Justin Trudeau's War on Gun Owners in Canada. Brian Lilly uncovered evidence that the RCMP kept a copy of the long gun registry, which was supposed to be destroyed by the Crown in 2012.

00:00:00.000 you're tuned in to the Andrew Lawton Show

00:00:05.600 many of you may know I certainly hope you do because I've been telling you enough I am producing

00:00:14.040 right now a documentary on firearms owners in Canada called assaulted Justin Trudeau's

00:00:19.180 war on gun owners and if you stay tuned I think we'll have some little sneak peek footage to show

00:00:24.820 you in just a couple of weeks from that it's coming along really well but we got so much

00:00:28.940 footage going across the country that we are dealing with a lot of stuff to sift through right

00:00:34.000 now but the real narrative behind this is that ordinary people in Canada who happen to be gun

00:00:39.780 owners are continually persecuted by the government their rights their lives their livelihoods just

00:00:45.520 don't matter to the government as much as those of non-gun owners do and that's why this story 0.89

00:00:51.120 piqued my interest from Brian Lilly at the Toronto Sun who will actually be in the documentary

00:00:55.780 Brian Lilly has uncovered evidence that the RCMP kept a copy of the gun registry the long gun

00:01:02.260 registry which was repealed and whose data were supposed to be destroyed by police agencies

00:01:08.120 which he has gotten from a criminal defense lawyer by the name of Ed Berlew who was sifting through

00:01:13.680 documents sent over disclosure documents by the crown regarding his client and he found evidence

00:01:20.300 he says that the RCMP kept a copy of the national gun registry despite parliament ordering it destroyed

00:01:26.880 in 2012 the registry had been on the books for about 22 years it was repealed by the conservatives

00:01:34.680 and not just stopped but stopped with a directive that all of the records from it had to be destroyed

00:01:40.520 because the rationale was that government did not deserve to have records of every long gun and every

00:01:45.840 shotgun non-restricted firearms that was that were owned by law-abiding gun owners but this lawyer saw

00:01:53.540 documents from 2019 that had information that only could have come from the registry which he says is

00:02:01.160 proof that someone within the RCMP deliberately lied to parliament and the courts and moreover he found

00:02:07.520 evidence that this document had passed through numerous departments from the RCMP to the OPP and all of

00:02:14.100 these other places so the document wasn't just stored but was being disseminated and the big problem

00:02:20.440 with this is that this means that information that should not exist in a government database was not

00:02:26.640 just being stored by the government but passed around as though it was not something that was supposed

00:02:30.920 to be destroyed as though the government believed it was its right to keep this information now one of

00:02:36.500 the things is that the information would be for a lot of people outdated if the government has in 2019 a

00:02:42.720 registry that was last updated in 2012 firearms could have changed hands a number of times but that

00:02:48.980 almost makes it worse in a way because someone who was on the registry is owning a firearm in 2012

00:02:54.880 and then in the last nine years may have sold that gun or given it away suppose that gun turns up in a

00:03:01.860 crime scene now we know that law-abiding gun owners are not the problem but I'm speaking hypothetically

00:03:07.880 at this point well now police have this secret registry that they will use to tie this to someone

00:03:14.140 else and what they do with that information I have no idea but I assume they're holding on to it

00:03:19.720 for a reason because otherwise why would they after it was ordered destroyed and Brian Lilly and you should

00:03:26.840 read his piece it's fantastically done Brian Lilly knows that the RCMP did not respond to requests for

00:03:33.040 comment a lot of people have suspected this going back to 2013 in High River when RCMP officers were

00:03:39.900 going into people's houses and removing their guns the question was well wait how do they know which

00:03:43.800 houses how do they know which guns and this starts to tell us a little bit more of the picture of the

00:03:49.240 why and how now this is proof that gun owners are under a continued assault which is exactly why I'm

00:03:55.240 doing the project that I'm doing in assaulted Justin Trudeau's war on gun owners and it's also why the

00:04:00.840 point I've raised bears repeating that if you are not a gun owner you still need to understand that

00:04:05.820 what's happening is a violation of rights and is government overreach and if they're going to do

00:04:10.780 it with gun owners there's no guarantee they will not do it with you as well and that's precisely the

00:04:17.360 point here and why no one should just say well I'm not a gun owner it doesn't affect me no if governments

00:04:22.060 are behaving like this it affects everyone if you liked watching this clip of the Andrew Lawton show
