Every year, this century-old story is told. The massive steamship, the Komagata Maru, entered Vancouver Bay carrying 376 supposed immigrant families. They were denied entry and sent back to India by racist Canadian border agents. This tall tale is presented as proof that Canada is and always has been a racist country. 00:00:00.000 The Komagata Maru is described as a national shame.

00:00:06.480 The massive steamship SS Komagata Maru entered Vancouver Bay carrying 376 supposed immigrant families.
00:00:14.880 They were denied entry and sent back to India by racist Canadian border agents.
00:00:20.380 This tall tale is presented as proof that Canada is and always has been a racist country.
00:00:26.680 Justin Trudeau pandered every year during his tenure, taking the spotlight that he loved so much
00:00:32.940 to issue a breathless apology to Sikhs everywhere. Jagmeet Singh used it as evidence of systemic
00:00:39.680 racism and uses it today to justify modern mass immigration policy. Even Pierre Poliet calls it a
00:00:47.880 quote, shameless mark on our history. But what actually happened and what aren't they telling
00:00:53.040 you. The year is 1914. Canada, as we know it, is a new country. It hasn't even been 50 years since
00:00:59.700 John A. Macdonald laid the groundwork for a confederation. The population is only at 7.9
00:01:04.840 million. And the Komagatamaru, chartered by Punjabi businessman Baba Gurdit Singh,
00:01:10.180 no relation to Jagmeet Singh, is carrying 376 radical Sikh militants from India,
00:01:17.360 almost all adult men. But that raises the next question. What was their actual goal?
00:01:22.620 because once you begin to question that, the narrative that we had been told begins to fall
00:01:28.200 apart. You see, Canada's border agency at this time refused any immigrant vessel from anywhere
00:01:34.220 that did not arrive via a direct route. It was called the Continuous Journey Regulation and
00:01:40.320 especially on the eve of World War I, it was an effective strategy for avoiding stowaways
00:01:45.380 and extremists from entering the country. The ship intentionally did not sail directly from
00:01:51.420 India to Canada in order to contest immigration laws. It stopped repeatedly along the way,
00:01:57.820 stopping at Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Yokohama, specifically to break the continuous journey
00:02:03.220 regulation. Most of the passengers aboard this ship and the organizers of the Komagatomaru journey
00:02:09.440 were part of a political extremist organization known as the Gadar Movement. Canada was an easy 1.00
00:02:16.060 target for the gadar radicals whose goal was to destroy the british empire through canada as a 1.00
00:02:21.780 young country with limited capacity and limited infrastructure to deal with a floating humanitarian
00:02:27.520 crisis they thought we were an easy target now here is what might surprise you to this day
00:02:33.280 global communists celebrate this event take this historical archive from the global marxist
00:02:40.200 authority who recalls the event with fond red fervor. Many of those aboard the Komagata Maru
00:02:46.760 were activists and sympathizers of the revolutionary and anti-colonial Gadar party.
00:02:51.880 This was a party organized to wage a national liberation struggle against British domination.
00:02:57.320 It was heavily influenced by socialist ideas. When the Komagata Maru arrived in Vancouver Harbor
00:03:03.240 there was a standoff lasting two months ending with Canada compassionately allowing 24 passengers
00:03:09.640 to disembark, mostly women and children, which notably increased the female Sikh population
00:03:14.960 in Canada at the time by around 800%. Fun fact, of the 2,342 Sikhs that were counted in the 1911
00:03:23.360 census, only three were women. The remaining 352 men stayed on board and were sent back to India.
00:03:30.960 Canadian authorities didn't hesitate, they didn't improvise, they enforced the law, and the illegal
00:03:36.680 migrants knew this was going to happen. The ship was forced to leave. No mass arrests, no police
00:03:42.760 brutality, no violence. Just a return trip back to British India. But the radicals aboard the 1.00
00:03:48.880 Komagatamaru, they didn't stop there. They began plotting again. This time, an overt terrorist
00:03:54.920 assassination of border agents in Vancouver. The one death in the entire Komagatamaru story in
00:04:00.940 Canada wasn't even a migrant. It was William Hopkinson, a Canadian immigration official who
00:04:07.380 was killed in broad daylight. Last year, your tax money went to the funding of a Punjabi-language
00:04:14.880 movie honoring and celebrating the death of William Hopkinson. Interesting. The assassin Muah Singh
00:04:22.900 is regarded as a martyr among many Sikhs today. The city of New Westminster, British Columbia
00:04:28.720 officially declared that January 11th would be Mewa Singh Day.
00:04:34.640 The radicals aboard the Komagata Maru, their goal was never to integrate into Canada.
00:04:39.560 In fact, it was the opposite. 0.84
00:04:41.440 The Gadar movement was intentionally trying to undermine the Canadian and British war effort.
00:04:46.800 Look no further than the documented evidence of the Hindu-German conspiracy,
00:04:51.760 where German authorities worked alongside Gadar movement radicals in Canada and the United States
00:04:58.600 to ship arms to radicals in India on behalf of the Germans
00:05:03.340 to attack British officials and military personnel.
00:05:07.960 So think about this.
00:05:09.480 While our Canadian boys were over in France and in Western Europe getting slaughtered in the fields, 1.00
00:05:14.500 we had people from India entering our country, 0.98
00:05:18.080 working with the enemy to undermine the Allied war effort.
00:05:21.020 And we're supposed to honor these people as martyrs.
00:05:24.660 However, politicians today will breathlessly tell you 0.73
00:05:27.520 that the Komagata Maru story was a national shame and that Sikhs built Canada. Now the evidence of 1.00
00:05:34.000 course says otherwise, but you didn't need me to tell you that. According to the World Sikh 1.00
00:05:37.920 Organization itself, the population of Sikhs in Canada in the early 1900s was not millions,
00:05:44.080 not hundreds of thousands, not tens of thousands, and not a single percent. In 1911 the World Sikh
00:05:51.040 Organization reports that the Sikh population was two hundredths of a percent of the national
00:05:55.920 population. Just a couple thousand spread across the Canadian frontier. The political leaders in
00:06:01.380 our country today intentionally twist the facts of this story into morally blackmailing Canadians
00:06:07.220 towards their policies of mass immigration and extreme multicultural policies, leading directly
00:06:13.380 to their practice of refugee intakes, student visa extensions, and citizenship pipeline for
00:06:19.400 temporary foreign workers who become Liberal Party voters before being replaced at Tim Hortons by
00:06:25.400 the next wave of temporary foreign workers. Remembering the Komagata Maru as proof that
00:06:30.280 Canada has a racist past with racist laws is not just false, it's immoral. The real tragedy here
00:06:37.320 is the lesson that we learned nearly a hundred years after this incident. These laws were
00:06:42.340 originally in place to prevent the destruction of social cohesion in Canada, and ironically,
00:06:47.140 removing these laws has led to that social cohesion being destroyed. Over the past decade alone,
00:06:53.340 Canada has seen a huge increase in the number of Indian separatists. 0.91
00:06:56.900 And they're doing exactly what the passengers aboard the Koma Gautamaru in 1914 envisioned for themselves. 0.99
00:07:03.540 Evade the law, exploit Canada for revolutionary purposes, 0.58
00:07:07.780 manipulate the system, deal and sell illegal drugs and firearms,
00:07:11.880 cause rampant extortion crimes,
00:07:13.920 and continuous infighting in our streets over their foreign issues.
00:07:17.900 The truth of the matter is,
00:07:19.840 countries have borders and laws for a reason.
00:07:22.800 and enforcing them protects the country.
00:07:25.220 Apologizing for enforcement teaches the public to see borders as something shameful
00:07:30.020 and conditions us to accept the erosion of our sovereignty.
00:07:33.860 And as we all know, history is rarely as clean as the plaques would suggest.
00:07:38.320 There was a permanent Komagatumaru memorial on Vancouver's Coal Harbor,
00:07:42.580 one of the most esteemed waterfronts in the country.
00:07:45.440 Large steel red panels lined in rows and rows,
00:07:48.720 plaques illuminated by gold, a sign where their side of the story is engraved.
00:07:54.220 But is there any memorial for William Hopkinson,
00:07:57.180 the man who was shot dead in cold blood for enforcing the immigration laws at the time
00:08:01.980 against the Gadar movement and the passengers aboard the Komagatamaru?
00:08:07.100 Who remembers his name?
00:08:09.560 A man who died serving his king and country.
00:08:13.180 Meanwhile, the city of Vancouver also added Komagatamaru Place
00:08:17.720 as an honorary name at Canada Place.
00:08:20.640 These are permanent moral markers built into the city itself.
00:08:26.160 Talk about a national shame.
