00:00:00.000 Now that the Prime Minister is back from his taxpayer-funded, sun-filled vacation in Florida
00:00:11.000 for spring break, it seems that the SNC-Lavalin scandal is not going anywhere anytime soon.
00:00:19.040 The Prime Minister undoubtedly hopes his budget, which comes out tomorrow, will dominate the
00:00:25.320 news cycle and take SNC-Lavalin out of the headlines, but I don't think that's going to happen.
00:00:31.520 Today, the scandal claimed its fourth high-profile resignation, that of the Clerk of the Privy
00:00:37.980 Council, Michael Warnick.
00:00:39.760 Now, whether Michael Warnick retired, resigned, or was pushed out, I think remains to be seen.
00:00:48.320 Equally, the Prime Minister then appointed anti-pipeline activist Joyce Murray to the
00:00:55.060 position of President of the Treasury Board, one of the highest-profile positions in Cabinet,
00:01:00.100 and from which all of the money that government runs on flows.
00:01:04.420 It's difficult to see how that squares itself with the acquisition that the Government of
00:01:11.600 Canada did for the rights to the TMX pipeline that they acquired last year for $4.5 billion.
00:01:18.760 But worse than that, much worse than that, the Prime Minister appointed former Liberal Cabinet
00:01:28.320 Minister Anne McClellan to look into the SNC scandal and see how it was handled and to
00:01:35.820 make recommendations to government.
00:01:38.020 Prime Minister, Canadians expect and deserve to have faith in the institutions and the people
00:01:43.780 who serve in this.
00:01:44.540 The events of the last few weeks have raised important questions about the relationship
00:01:49.140 between the Federal Government and the Minister of Justice and Attorney General.
00:01:53.420 I'm therefore announcing that the Honourable Anne McClellan will serve as special advisor
00:01:58.040 to examine these questions and provide independent recommendations to us.
00:02:03.200 As former Minister of Justice and Attorney General and Deputy Prime Minister, she is uniquely
00:02:08.960 suited for this role.
00:02:10.200 Her work will be another important step towards maintaining Canadians' confidence in their institutions.
00:02:16.280 Well, that's rich.
00:02:17.920 First off, McClellan was a senior Cabinet Minister in the governments of Jean Chrétien, and then
00:02:24.040 following that as Deputy Prime Minister in the government of Paul Martin.
00:02:28.120 She was as close to the levers of power as you could possibly get.
00:02:31.640 And I might remind you that while she was the Justice Minister from 1997 to 2003, liberal
00:02:39.820 scandals that bubbled to the surface in those days were so prevalent, and she did nothing.
00:02:47.020 She turned a blind eye to them.
00:02:49.260 There was Shawinigate.
00:02:51.100 There was Shovelgate, the HRDC scandal, the billion-dollar boondoggle, the granddaddy of the
00:02:58.580 mall sidewinder, and then finally ad scam, which prompted the Gomery Inquiry and ultimately
00:03:05.300 toppled the government of Paul Martin.
00:03:08.280 There's no doubt, as Justice Minister, all of these things happened directly under her eyes.
00:03:14.300 And now she's expected by this Prime Minister to look into another Liberal scandal, into another
00:03:21.840 Quebec company buying influence in the Liberal Party of Canada and the government of Canada,
00:03:27.520 Canada, and it's just absolutely ridiculous.
00:03:30.920 Couple that with the fact that Anne McClellan also sits as a mentor on the board of the
00:03:35.720 Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation, you can see clearly that the conflict of interest that
00:03:42.680 is prevalent throughout all of this, this only exacerbates the scandal, in my view, and
00:03:49.420 shows just how tone-deaf the Prime Minister is to all of this.
00:03:53.200 For True North, I'm Leo Knight.
00:03:57.520 It's not clean.
00:03:58.480 It's done well.
00:03:58.820 It's done well.
00:03:59.400 It's done well.
00:04:00.520 It's done well.
00:04:02.020 And I'm 25 when we're done well.
00:04:02.560 We're all about to hear from the luz provocation to the whisky disaster.
00:04:03.620 We everything that attempts to get a fear as a hydro in the face doing very well.
00:04:05.160 It's been the first thing that we're trying to under profile, in this case, this past
00:04:08.360 is definitely going somewhere else and we're trying to stress out эту
00:04:21.620 att eagerly find out how to treat people with their license to achieve their plan.
