True North swayed media narrative on UN migration compact

00:00:00.000 It's no surprise that there exists in the mainstream media an anti-conservative bias,
00:00:06.960 but it is important to understand exactly how pernicious that bias is,
00:00:10.940 especially when it comes to issues like immigration,
00:00:14.240 and more specifically the United Nations Global Compact on Migration,
00:00:18.240 a very dangerous and concerning agreement to which Canada is now, thanks to Justin Trudeau, a signatory.
00:00:24.440 There was a lot of media coverage about the UN Global Migration Compact,
00:00:28.620 but now we have some independent research showing just how important True North's voice was
00:00:34.460 in counteracting the tone that the mainstream media had on that.
00:00:39.540 True North reached out to Mission Research,
00:00:41.800 which is a private and independent media analysis and market research firm,
00:00:46.760 to do an analysis using Mission Research's proprietary technique
00:00:50.820 on the tone, coverage, and placement of mainstream media coverage of the UN Global Migration Compact.
00:00:58.620 According to the research, which was commissioned for True North, but done independently,
00:01:03.740 the mainstream media did cover it, and specifically they looked at about 150 different articles,
00:01:09.260 and using their own techniques, determined that Justin Trudeau had a score of minus 1.7,
00:01:17.400 a media impact score, which means that his pro-compact position,
00:01:21.780 the position of the federal government was evaluated negatively on average across the multiple news outlets
00:01:29.320 that were included in the research.
00:01:31.460 Andrew Scheer had some of the coverage that Justin Trudeau did, not as much of course,
00:01:36.440 and his anti-compact position was evaluated in a neutral way.
00:01:41.120 It had a score of minus 0.8 across 97 articles of coverage.
00:01:46.340 Now, these numbers out of context might not mean anything to you,
00:01:50.320 but Mission Research went one step further.
00:01:53.300 They took out of their analysis anything that was connected to True North,
00:01:57.680 most notably Candace Malcolm's columns at the Toronto Sun,
00:02:01.140 of which there were a great many,
00:02:02.520 because quite frankly, True North voices were among the only people really driving the discussion
00:02:07.540 for much of the time in which the UN Global Migration Compact was in the news.
00:02:11.420 When True North voices were taken out of the mix,
00:02:14.280 Justin Trudeau's score actually improved by 55%.
00:02:18.740 It went from minus 1.7 to minus 1.1,
00:02:23.060 which is indicative that the coverage was still critical,
00:02:26.080 but getting to that point of it being neutral territory.
00:02:29.860 Now, as far as the mainstream media is concerned,
00:02:32.340 neutral coverage is still fair.
00:02:34.400 I'd rather it be neutral than unabashedly shilling for Justin Trudeau,
00:02:38.340 which we did see in a couple of isolated examples,
00:02:40.800 and are going to continue to see headed towards the election.
00:02:44.140 But what this research proves is that the True North voice is genuinely giving a perspective
00:02:48.960 on these issues that is not being heard in the mainstream media.
00:02:53.260 And it's important that we keep that up.
00:02:55.380 This is a grassroots initiative,
00:02:57.200 which means anything we do is being done,
00:02:59.540 not just for the average ordinary person in Canada,
00:03:02.580 but we only get to do it when we have support from those very people.

00:03:08.220 if we're not getting a piece of that $595 million government bailout fund,
00:03:12.560 our support is coming from you.
00:03:14.400 Sometimes people will chip in $100, $200.
00:03:17.100 Other times they'll give us $10 a month
00:03:19.160 by joining either the Heritage Club or the Patriot Club.
00:03:22.160 But this is important.
00:03:23.920 I don't share this just to be a fundraising appeal,
00:03:26.380 but I do share it so that we understand
00:03:28.440 exactly what it is that we are doing
00:03:31.000 when it comes to the media landscape.
00:03:32.600 You see, without True North,
00:03:35.080 the media was going to be fairly uncritical of the UN Compact,
00:03:39.180 reporting that, okay, Justin Trudeau is signing this,
00:03:42.080 but not really delving into the meat of what it is
00:03:44.780 that is so dangerous and damaging about that compact.
00:03:48.540 And that's where we came in.
00:03:50.060 Some people might have thought that we were beating the drum too hard,
00:03:52.660 but it was important to do so because no one else was.
00:03:56.760 And when we look at these numbers,
00:03:58.220 we see exactly how true that was.
00:04:00.220 True North has always been and will continue to be
00:04:02.880 standing up for the things that the mainstream media doesn't care about
00:04:06.160 or is against Canadians on.
00:04:08.600 And when it comes to surrendering our immigration file
00:04:11.460 to the United Nations,
00:04:13.380 there is a clear answer,
00:04:15.580 and that's that Canada should not be a part of this.
