00:00:00.000 The tyranny we have witnessed in Canada in recent weeks should shock and dismay people all over the world.
00:00:06.060 In an advanced Western democracy, the peaceful movement of patriotic truckers, workers and families protesting for their most basic rights and liberties has been violently put down.
00:00:20.200 President-elect Donald Trump has begun filling key roles in his incoming administration, and it's spelling bad news for Canada's liberal leaders.
00:00:32.200 While key figures like Elon Musk and Mike Walls have expressed their support for the Canadian freedom-loving patriots that make our country great, they've frequently expressed disdain for the progressive and authoritarian policies pushed by our Prime Minister and his lackeys.
00:00:51.700 Trump himself is no fan of Justin Trudeau, and as Canada continues to diminish on the world stage, our frosty relationship with the most powerful nation in the free world will only continue that decline.
00:01:04.700 Our NATO partners don't like him. Canadians don't like him.
00:01:09.700 What will it take for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to finally take the hint and resign?
00:01:15.700 I'm Rachel Parker and you're watching Rachel in the Republic.
00:01:21.700 Hey, everyone. Welcome back to Rachel in the Republic. I'm your host, Rachel Parker.
00:01:33.700 We're going to be taking a look at some of the figures that Donald Trump has announced for his upcoming administration.
00:01:40.700 You would be shocked at how many of these people have commented on the political scene up in Canada
00:01:46.700 and certainly commented and criticized on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for many of his authoritarian policies.
00:01:53.700 So we're going to take a deep dive into that today, starting with Mike Walls, who has been announced as Trump's national security adviser.
00:02:00.700 Walls has a long and storied history of criticizing the Trudeau liberals and supporting and encouraging conservative leader Pierre Polyev.
00:02:10.700 In May, Walls reposted a video from Polyev depicting the conservative leader mocking Trudeau for his national housing plan.
00:02:19.700 Walls claimed that Polyev's party would defeat the liberals in a 2025 election and reorient Canada in a better direction, saying, quote,
00:02:26.700 This guy is going to send Trudeau packing in 2025, finally, and start digging Canada out of the progressive mess it's in.
00:02:35.700 His trolling of Trudeau's nonsense worth a watch.
00:02:38.700 He's also frequently criticized the Trudeau liberals for their fallen foreign policy approach.
00:02:45.700 In 2021, Walls slammed the Trudeau government for abstaining from voting on a motion that condemned the Chinese Communist Party for committing genocide against China's Uyghur Muslim population.
00:02:57.700 You guys probably remember that that motion passed unanimously in the House of Commons, but Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his entire cabinet abstained from that vote.
00:03:06.700 At the time, Walls said,
00:03:09.700 As I told the At Free Beacon, it's a great first step for Canada to recognize the ongoing genocide.
00:03:14.700 But shameful of Justin Trudeau abstained that Justin Trudeau abstained from the vote.
00:03:19.700 We stand with our Canadian allies who are opening the door to Beijing boycott 2022.
00:03:26.700 The year after, Walls once again criticized the Trudeau government also on China, this time for allowing a Chinese government owned firm to purchase a Canadian lithium mine at a time when the United States and its allies were beginning to take a firmer stance against the communist regime.
00:03:43.700 Walls said at the time, we need answers on why Justin Trudeau's government allowed the sale of a lithium mine to a Chinese state owned entity at such a critical time to secure energy independence.
00:03:54.700 Was the Biden administration consulted per our agreement with Canada?
00:03:58.700 And finally, Walls is one of the many critics who have joined the chorus calling on the Canadian government to spend more on defense spending.
00:04:09.700 He has said that the United States indirectly funds the welfare states like Canada, Germany and France, adding, well, adding quote, our defense budget shouldn't subsidize Germany, France and Canada's welfare states.
00:04:22.700 We deserve better from our NATO allies.
00:04:25.700 And I think that most Canadians would agree that we would like to see our government spending more on the defense budget and less on things like tampons for men.
00:04:35.700 Moving into another new government administration and the appointments for that.
00:04:39.700 I know that you guys will be particularly excited to learn about this one.
00:04:42.700 Trump has announced a Department of Government efficiency and that will be headed by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
00:04:49.700 Now, if you guys spent any time on X, you'd know that Elon Musk is a big fan of the Canadian people, but is very critical of the Trudeau government.
00:04:58.700 He has a lengthy history of criticizing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
00:05:02.700 In July 2023, when Trudeau blamed America's right wing for Muslims opposing the alphabet soup curriculum in Canada, Musk was all of us when he responded with a clown emoji.
00:05:16.700 As I often say of this government and of just this time and place in history, you have to laugh or you'll cry.
00:05:23.700 In response to new regulatory controls the Liberal government announced in October 2023, Musk said Trudeau is trying to crush free speech in Canada, calling it shameful.
00:05:35.700 And just earlier this month, Musk wrote on X that Trudeau will be gone in the upcoming election.
00:05:41.700 Now, as I mentioned, that Department of Government efficiency will be headed by two major key players in US politics.
00:05:48.700 Elon Musk, but also Vivek Ramaswamy, whom I'm sure you all remember, actually ran for the Republican and he ran in the Republican presidential race and eventually dropped out and endorsed Donald Trump.
00:06:01.700 He was a big fan and was one of the candidates who really never criticized Trump during that race.
00:06:07.700 And I think his long term plan has paid off for him with him now having this key role in the Trump administration and the new agency that it will be creating.
00:06:17.700 Now, Vivek is so critical of Canada that he actually thinks that the US should not only build a wall along its southern border with Mexico,
00:06:26.700 but also along its northern border with Canada, which is the first time I've heard that policy proposed.
00:06:33.700 But he actually said it during the Republican presidential debates.
00:06:36.700 Take a listen.
00:06:37.700 The candidate on the stage, as far as I'm aware, who has actually visited the northern border.
00:06:42.700 There was enough fentanyl that was captured just on the northern border last year to kill three million Americans.
00:06:48.700 So we got to just skate to where the puck is going, not just where the puck is.
00:06:52.700 Don't just build the wall, build both walls. Can't just complete the wall, use the military to seal the Swiss cheese for the tunnels that they're actually building underneath that wall.
00:07:01.700 So there you heard him say he was one of the only presidential candidates to actually visit the northern border, which is true.
00:07:08.700 He did go and visit the northern border and show how easy it is for people to walk back and forth for migrants and illegals to walk back and forth between both borders,
00:07:18.700 which is a major concern for Canada right now. As I just discussed yesterday on the Rachel Parker show, the Trump administration, one of his key promises is he will be cracking down on illegal immigrants.
00:07:29.700 They will be deporting illegals. And so a lot of illegals who are in those northern states, they're going to be looking for their next move.
00:07:37.700 They are going to be looking for an escape for a way out in Canada is all too obvious a choice considering how easy it is for them to walk across Roxham Road in New York into Canada where they will be received.
00:07:49.700 They will be put up in a hotel and the Canadian taxpayer will be on the hook to pay for their food for their hotel and even for their security.
00:07:57.700 I was reading the other day, I don't know why migrants coming into Canada need security, but apparently we are on the hook to pay for all of that to the tune of $208 per migrant per day.
00:08:09.700 So there, you know, is a real argument for that border wall to be built. I think even for Canada, I think that we could benefit it. And here we are once again, we're relying on the United States to assure Canadian security because our own government is unwilling to do so.
00:08:25.700 Now, of course, I've saved the best for last of this conversation, that of Donald Trump. It's no secret that Donald Trump is no fan of Justin Trudeau and of key people in Trudeau's cabinet like Chrystia Freeland.
00:08:40.700 I know that you guys always hate when I play Freeland clips. We'll have one coming a little bit later. But I wanted to first address this clip of Donald Trump speaking at CPAC back in 2022.
00:08:50.700 I suspect that most of you have seen this clip before, but I think it's always worth a refresher.
00:08:55.700 I know it came up on my timeline during the final days of the US presidential race and I had forgotten how much support Trump has shown for the Canadian people.
00:09:06.700 And I don't mean government bureaucrats. I mean the true Canadian people who stood up for Canadian freedom and democracy during the 2020 COVID pandemic, if we can even still really call it that.
00:09:18.700 And, you know, Trump gave a very vocal note of support for the truckers at CPAC. Take a listen at this clip from him.
00:09:27.700 The tyranny we have witnessed in Canada in recent weeks should shock and dismay people all over the world.
00:09:34.700 In an advanced Western democracy, the peaceful movement of patriotic truckers, workers and families protesting for their most basic rights and liberties has been violently put down.
00:09:47.700 Their assets and life savings have been frozen.
00:09:57.700 They have been slandered as Nazis, racists and terrorists. These are the names they've been called.
00:10:05.700 They've been arrested and charged with phony crimes. They've been falsely accused of loyalty to foreign powers.
00:10:15.700 I watched them. I saw those maple leafs all over the flags and the love for their country.
00:10:21.700 Plenty of Americans were there, too, and they love our country.
00:10:24.700 They're being hunted down like enemies of their own government and treated worse than drug dealers and murderers or rapists.
00:10:33.700 A line has been crossed. You're either with the peaceful truckers or you are with the left wing fascists.
00:10:41.700 And that's what's been happening. And it's been a strong line.
00:10:44.700 We stand with the truckers and we stand with the Canadian people in their noble way to reclaim their freedom.
00:10:53.700 So there you hear Trump give a strong show of support for the truckers and for everyone in Canada who is fighting for their freedoms back during the COVID-19 pandemic.
00:11:04.700 As I suspect most of you were in your own ways, whether that was joining the convoy or holding your own protests in your local town or maybe going down to Cootes.
00:11:13.700 I suspect that most of the people who watch the show were in some way engaged in seeking to have their civil liberties returned to them.
00:11:20.700 And certainly hearing that show of support from Donald Trump back in 2022 is a very powerful moment for the Canadian people.
00:11:27.700 And of course, our trucker convoy was recognized all around the world.
00:11:31.700 And we hear Trump giving his support there.
00:11:34.700 Not only is he supporting Canadians, but he's also decrying Justin Trudeau and the Liberal government for the authoritarian policies that they put in place during COVID,
00:11:46.700 but also for the authoritarian crackdown and that they responded to the trucker convoy,
00:11:51.700 which of course was with a basically a military response to the Canadian people and then even taking things further with freezing their assets and their bank accounts.
00:12:02.700 And you hear Trump use the words there that the Canadian people who fought for their civil liberties were being hunted down and are treated worse than than real criminals.
00:12:13.700 And that's still the case in Canada today.
00:12:15.700 We still have criminals who are let out on bail to continue repeating crimes.
00:12:20.700 It's just a small number of criminals in Canada who are repeating continuous crimes over and over and over again.
00:12:26.700 But I guarantee of you guys, why don't you just try it?
00:12:29.700 Try not paying your taxes to the Canadian governments for like a couple of years, like one to two, just just wait and find out what happens.
00:12:36.700 I assure you, you will not be given any lenience.
00:12:39.700 But, you know, maybe if you are living in a halfway house and you stab someone, you'll probably be shown quite a bit of lenience in what Canada has become today.
00:12:49.700 So you can hear Trump.
00:12:51.700 He gives a strong show of support for the Canadian people and at the same time decrying the measures that the Trudeau liberals have used to crack down on the Canadian people.
00:13:01.700 Now, there's another clip of Trump that I quite like.
00:13:04.700 Like this was taken during the NAFTA negotiations.
00:13:08.700 You probably remember that during the last Trump administration, they had to negotiate a new NAFTA deal and it did not go very smoothly for Canada.
00:13:18.700 Take a listen to what Trump has to say here.
00:13:21.700 Mr. President, Susan Lee from Fox Business.
00:13:23.700 Did you reject a one on one meeting with the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau?
00:13:27.700 Yeah, I did.
00:13:28.700 Why?
00:13:29.700 Because his tariffs are too high and he doesn't seem to want to move.
00:13:31.700 And I've told him, forget about it.
00:13:33.700 And frankly, we're thinking about just taxing cars coming in from Canada.
00:13:36.700 That's the mother load.
00:13:37.700 That's the big one.
00:13:38.700 We're very unhappy with the negotiations and the negotiating style of Canada.
00:13:44.700 We don't like their representative very much.
00:13:47.700 They've taken advantage.
00:13:48.700 I love Canada, by the way.
00:13:49.700 I have so many friends.
00:13:50.700 I have everybody.
00:13:51.700 It's so many friends.
00:13:52.700 But that has nothing to do with this.
00:13:54.700 I'm representing the United States.
00:13:57.700 Mexico was totally, I mean, they were great.
00:14:00.700 By the way, the new president has been great.
00:14:04.700 The deal is done.
00:14:05.700 Now it has to go through Congress and, you know, a lot of things have to happen.
00:14:07.700 But we've done.
00:14:08.700 Bob Lighthizer, who's here someplace.
00:14:10.700 Where's Bob?
00:14:11.700 Bob.
00:14:12.700 Bob Lighthizer has done a great job of negotiating, as they have.
00:14:16.700 But the deal is done.
00:14:18.700 It's up to Congress.
00:14:19.700 But Canada has treated us very badly.
00:14:23.700 They've treated our farmers in Wisconsin and New York State and a lot of other states very badly.
00:14:29.700 Dairy products, 300%.
00:14:31.700 300%.
00:14:32.700 How do you sell a dairy product at 300%?
00:14:36.700 The answer is, you don't.
00:14:38.700 What it is, is a barrier.
00:14:39.700 It's basically, they're saying, we don't have any barriers.
00:14:41.700 By the way, it's 300%, so you don't send it in because you can't compete.
00:14:45.700 So Canada has a long way to go.
00:14:47.700 I must be honest with you.
00:14:48.700 We're not getting along at all with their negotiators.
00:14:50.700 We think their negotiators have taken advantage of our country for a long time.
00:14:55.700 So there you hear Trump go in on the Canada negotiator.
00:15:00.700 We don't like Canada's negotiator.
00:15:02.700 We're not getting along with Canada's negotiator.
00:15:04.700 Do you guys remember who Canada's negotiator was at the time?
00:15:08.700 It was then finance minister or foreign affairs minister, Chrystia Freeland, who's now our deputy prime minister and finance minister.
00:15:17.700 And she is the one who is going to be responsible for heading up negotiations with the new Trump administration to try and cut Canada a deal as Donald Trump has promised to implement tariffs on Canadian goods coming into the United States.
00:15:31.700 Probably the worst pick for the job because of all the nasty things he's had to say about her in the past, acknowledging that he didn't like her, that they didn't work well together.
00:15:41.700 Chrystia Freeland was asked why she thought she would be the best person for this job considering her difficult history with Donald Trump.
00:15:50.700 Here's what she had to say about it.
00:15:52.700 He doesn't like you very much.
00:15:54.700 Donald Trump has said that he doesn't like you very much in the past.
00:15:56.700 What makes you the best person to lead the Canadian government's efforts here?
00:15:59.700 I think that President Trump will obviously speak for himself and I would never put words in his mouth.
00:16:07.700 But in my experience, President Trump respects strength and he respects people and countries who are strong and clear in defending their countries, in defending their national interest.
00:16:25.700 I would actually agree with what Freeland said there.
00:16:29.700 I would agree that Donald Trump does respect people who show strength and that he does respect leaders who defend their countries.
00:16:39.700 Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Chrystia Freeland certainly haven't and are not any of those things.
00:16:46.700 They do not show strength.
00:16:47.700 They, in fact, show weakness and they have not shown an ability to be able to defend Canada as a sovereign state.
00:16:55.700 We don't we aren't not meeting our NATO commitments.
00:16:58.700 We are not paying enough in to the defense budget to meet our NATO targets.
00:17:03.700 And we have an open border that migrants and illegals from the US are walking across into Canada.
00:17:09.700 And instead of showing hard lines saying you have to come here the legal way, we welcome them in with open arms and put them up in hotels and pay for their pay for their food, pay for their security to add to the tune, as I said earlier, of $208 a day.
00:17:23.700 I know a lot of Canadians who could use an extra $200 a day right now, maybe even extra $200 a month.
00:17:30.700 And I guarantee you that the Trudeau Liberals will not be giving them that.
00:17:34.700 So even as it spells bad news for Canada as a whole, while we still have the Trudeau Liberals up in Ottawa, I am going to be watching the situation with Chrystia Freeland trying to negotiate with Trump's team with absolute glee, because I'm sure we will be getting a lot of juicy content out of it.
00:17:54.700 And it is hard to want to see Freeland succeed and for Canada succeed when Freeland has treated Canadians like dirt.
00:18:01.700 She was the one who announced that we would be freezing that the government would be freezing Canadians bank accounts during the Freedom Convoy.
00:18:08.700 Meanwhile, Donald Trump stood up and spoke up in defense of civil, of civil liberty loving Canadians.
00:18:16.700 All right, everyone, that's all we have time for today on Rachel and the Republic.
00:18:20.700 Let me know in the comments section below of the new Trump admins that we discussed today, which one is your favorite and who are you most excited to see perform once Donald Trump is inaugurated in January.
00:18:32.700 Hope that you guys have a great rest of your week. I'll see you in a few days. God bless.
