00:00:00.720 Last week the Federal Immigration Minister Ahmed Hassen was going after the tone of those
00:00:06.040 who had criticized his government's immigration policy.
00:00:09.620 This week he's going after their citizenship, namely Lisa McLeod, the Provincial Immigration
00:00:14.680 Minister in the new Ontario government, who Ahmed Hassen called not Canadian for her daring
00:00:20.640 to criticize the federal government's mishandling of the asylum file.
00:00:25.220 This is what Minister Hassen had to say about her.
00:00:28.040 Program seekers are processed in a separate queue at the IRB and all the other regular
00:00:33.820 immigration programs are processed by IRCC.
00:00:36.780 And conflating the two knowingly is irresponsible, it's divisive, it's fear-mongering and it is
00:00:43.180 not Canadian.
00:00:44.180 Lisa McLeod, who's served numerous terms in the Provincial Legislature, who's now in Cabinet,
00:00:49.580 Lisa McLeod, who has always been an incredible patriotic woman and always a great advocate
00:00:54.000 for her province and her community, is now not Canadian because she espouses a position
00:00:59.780 that is different than that of the federal government.
00:01:02.740 This is the Justin Trudeau, Ahmed Hassen government. 0.99
00:01:05.740 You're either with us or you're against us and if you're against us, you're not actually Canadian.
00:01:10.280 Whatever happened to a Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian. 0.51
00:01:13.220 I mean, the federal government under Justin Trudeau thought that if you committed a heinous
00:01:18.160 act of terrorism, you should still keep your citizenship.
00:01:20.960 But Lisa McLeod dares to say Ahmed Hassen screwed up and oh, well, she's not a Canadian, folks. 0.92
00:01:25.960 It's amazing how much of that double standard is really coming back to bite them in the rear
00:01:29.640 ends.
00:01:30.640 It's not just Ahmed Hassen, though.
00:01:32.740 Gerald Butts, who is Justin Trudeau's principal advisor, called Lisa McLeod and, frankly,
00:01:37.780 her supporters alt-right for having, again, a very legitimate skepticism for the federal
00:01:44.720 government's mishandling of immigration and asylum seekers.
00:01:48.580 When the workload is adding up, the border workers are not being given the resources they
00:01:53.280 need and Canadians and provinces specifically are left footing the bills.
00:01:57.640 But if you criticize them, you're not a part of their country.
00:02:01.020 See, my country is one where people have the right to disagree with their government.
00:02:04.840 Maybe that's not the Justin Trudeau, Ahmed Hassen approach, but it's all the more important
00:02:08.360 that voices like Lisa McLeod stand up and speak out.
00:02:11.740 For the True North Initiative, I'm Andrew Lutton.
