00:00:00.000 The past couple of weeks has seen mass shooting attacks in the U.S. in Gilroy, California, El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. 0.99
00:00:17.000 The media in both the U.S. and Canada has been overwrought trying to blame President Trump only to find out as more information came out that all the shooters were socialist supporters or anti-fuck crackpots. 0.97
00:00:29.000 But that didn't stop the howls of outrage from the political left calling for gun control and in that I include the mainstream media in Canada.
00:00:38.000 Yet barely noticed in Toronto last weekend at least 16 people were shot in 12 separate incidents prompting calls from the usual suspects like former councillor and sitting Liberal MP Adam Vaughan calling for the city to ban handguns.
00:00:53.000 We need to know that when someone buys 10 handguns why they're doing it and I think if the data shows that there are certain patterns that need to be regulated that's how you do gun control.
00:01:04.000 This is not unusual. He's been bleeding the same nonsense since at least 2012.
00:01:10.000 There are still four and a half months left in the calendar year and Toronto has already recorded a record 238 shootings, more than all of 2018.
00:01:20.000 That's more than one a day.
00:01:22.000 Clearly there's a problem.
00:01:24.000 But the problem is not guns or legal gun owners and no amount of legislation from city council or the province or even the federal government can change that.
00:01:34.000 The issue was illustrated in a press conference held this week by the OPP discussing their efforts in Project Skylark and their investigation targeting biker gangs.
00:01:45.000 Fifteen full patch members of either the Hells Angels or their puppet clubs, the Red Devils or the Hooligans were taken into custody and a large quantity of drugs seized including 12 and a half kilos of cocaine, hundreds of 50 microgram fentanyl patches, 12.2 kilos of marijuana and 2,000 hits of methamphetamine.
00:02:06.000 There were also allegations of human trafficking.
00:02:09.000 Now, biker gangs running drug networks or being pimps is nothing new. That's their stock in trade and has been for decades. 1.00
00:02:17.000 The interesting tidbit in the press conference was that the OPP seized 11 firearms.
00:02:23.000 Again, not that that was surprising, but that 8 of the 11 were illegal weapons.
00:02:28.000 And that, in and of itself, illustrates why politicians like Vaughn are just whistling Dixie.
00:02:34.000 Firearm violence in our cities has everything to do with the illicit drug trade and organized crime and their puppet street gangs.
00:02:40.000 They don't give a fig what laws are passed. Their whole existence is about defying the law.
00:02:46.000 The problem in Toronto was created by these mean-well politicians like Vaughn and John Tory.
00:02:52.000 When they told the Toronto Police Service to end their policy of carting, they gave carte blanche to gangs to do whatever they would
00:02:59.000 with a level of impunity confident in the knowledge that police would not stop and check them.
00:03:04.000 It may be politically correct for Vaughn and Tory because the majority of those folks checked by police were black.
00:03:11.000 Well, newsflash. The majority of crimes, especially violent crimes in Toronto, are committed by folks from the black community. 1.00
00:03:20.000 They are vastly overrepresented in that category, given their percentage of the overall population. 0.97
00:03:27.000 Take a look at the Toronto Police Most Wanted poster. It's posted regularly online. It's easy to find.
00:03:34.000 The reality is that police know their streets and their neighbourhoods.
00:03:38.000 They check folks not because of their race, but because of their activity.
00:03:43.000 That is lost on the vacuous politicians like Vaughn and Tory.
00:03:49.000 And that is why shootings in Toronto are at an almost 30-year high.
