00:00:00.000 Do you want to know what I think is perhaps one of the edgiest things you can do right now in
00:00:09.580 Canadian current affairs discussions? It's posting a picture of the current curve of coronavirus
00:00:16.300 cases in Canada. Yes, that's right. But how can that possibly be? Statistics about coronavirus
00:00:22.620 cases, isn't this just, you know, verified government data that all media have that should
00:00:27.260 be in news stories every day and so forth? Well, yes, you'd think it should be. I mean, back several
00:00:32.800 months ago when coronavirus cases were rising quite a lot and hospitalizations were unfortunately
00:00:37.720 rising, there was a lot of news about it. It was being amplified by pretty much everybody all the
00:00:43.400 time. But yet now there's less discussion of those figures and certainly less amplification of it and
00:00:50.100 less public health officials drawing attention to it and far fewer of the doctors you see on
00:00:55.840 television drawing attention to what the numbers are right now. It's almost like there's some
00:00:59.520 unwritten rule that you're not supposed to talk about it, which is what leads me to conclude it's,
00:01:03.660 I don't know, an edgy thing to do or something. Well, what are the numbers then? Well, the numbers
00:01:08.900 are numbers that are plummeting, precipitously dropping. Back around the first week of January,
00:01:16.480 Canada had almost 10,000 cases per day of coronavirus. But in the five weeks since then,
00:01:22.760 it has dramatically dropped to just over 2,000 cases, a massive decline. And thankfully,
00:01:31.220 hospitalizations have decreased drastically as well. All other indicators are coming down.
00:01:36.800 This is good news. Is it not coronavirus is a bad thing? Growing cases is a bad thing.
00:01:41.900 Hospitalizations, obviously we wish those people well. Is it not good news that all those numbers are
00:01:47.120 going down? Is it not news that should be celebrated? Is it not news that should be sung from the rafters?
00:01:52.300 All those people out there, the doctors who are on television, who are saying, we got a lockdown
00:01:56.240 society, we've got these awful numbers and so forth. Why are we not hearing more from them saying,
00:02:02.040 hey, we're really happy to actually see the situation improve? I mean, we had hospital
00:02:08.180 administrators who were going on television saying, look, the system's about to collapse.
00:02:12.000 It's awful news. We got to lock her down. Where are they now saying, okay, guys, good news. The system
00:02:16.800 is certainly nowhere near about to collapse anymore because the numbers have gone down so much. So
00:02:21.580 fantastic. And we want to get the word out there. What on earth is going on that this is not
00:02:26.540 being discussed anymore? Instead, all of the focus is on, hey, maybe there's these new variants out
00:02:31.820 there. Well, there are these new variants out there, but maybe they're going to explode. They're
00:02:35.680 going to skyrocket in this uncontrollable way. And we're going to be back to the way things were before
00:02:39.540 and so forth. Okay. Well, we haven't seen that happen so far in any other jurisdiction across
00:02:44.580 North America. All jurisdictions are seeing the numbers rapidly decline. Maybe things will again
00:02:49.800 get bad, but perhaps we can hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and also acknowledge this
00:02:56.700 good news while it's currently happening. But instead, unfortunately, that good news is not getting
00:03:03.860 out there. It's not being discussed as much as it should be, and it's not being celebrated. Why is that?
00:03:09.780 good news.
