JustPearlyThings - TRANS Should be Banned in Certain Sports

00:00:00.000 in sports that trans people should be banned from would you agree with that 1.00

00:00:07.280 it's hard because say for example you take a i don't know you take a trans woman okay they

00:00:16.320 i don't know i don't to be honest i don't know the process but like if you had a chance

00:00:21.680 woman who had been taking puberty blockers from young um therefore did not necessarily go through

00:00:27.920 puberty um as like a cis man um who then started taking hormone therapy to develop as a female 0.51

00:00:40.800 and therefore has no hormonal um

00:00:47.840 advantage and so i don't know how many hours they put in i don't know how much they've worked out

00:00:54.160 i don't know all it but if they are on the same sort of hormonal level if that would make a

00:01:00.560 difference if that would give them an advantage or if that would be them on a level playing field with

00:01:05.840 someone like you yeah i don't know so i do think that there are certain sports where it is a little

00:01:15.360 bit dangerous and sometimes it can be um irresponsible to put someone into a situation

00:01:24.240 for example like you said boxing or like a combat sport if someone like for example if they got to

00:01:31.840 a certain age um where they've been through puberty they've been in the gym you know they they they

00:01:37.520 trained as a boxer as like a cis man for years and years and then decided to transition and enter into

00:01:43.760 women's league i think that might be slightly irresponsible like the the level of strength 1.00

00:01:48.960 and power that that person has over a cis female might be insane but then like i said before i know

00:01:54.240 some insanely strong cis females so again i can't give you a definitive answer i can't say whether or not

00:02:01.760 i think it's good or bad i do think that sports has an insanely positive um uh like repercussion on

00:02:13.680 on on on the person who takes part in it like you as a sports person that's your i can imagine

00:02:18.240 that's your move in meditation when i play ice hockey that's my move in meditation nothing outside the

00:02:23.280 ice ring matters it's like everything that's going crazy in my head just goes into its beautiful filing

00:02:28.560 cabinet and it everything just makes sense for a while and so to to take that away from someone who is

00:02:38.080 merely trying to live the life that they feel is right for them who is not hurting anyone who's

00:02:42.720 not going out of their way to to cause malice or anything like that i think that's harsh but but

00:02:48.720 i think it does hurt people because it hurts like it's kind of like if i train for 16 years just to

00:02:53.760 have opportunity taken and given to someone that i would say has an advantage like i don't think

00:02:57.920 there's any amount of drugs that you can make it equal because i think i think at the end of the day

00:03:02.240 like you still are what you're born 100 and it's it's it's it is always going to be a hard situation

00:03:11.120 and i do think it's always going to be something that should be seen case by case because it also

00:03:16.160 you know there's so many things that that go into it it's the person's mentality you know like you know

00:03:22.080 if you go into something like boxing are you just trying to score points you're trying to be malicious

00:03:25.440 and hurt your person time boxes usually get to like pick who they're fighting i i think i think

00:03:31.440 the issue was there was a case a couple years ago where they didn't it was um someone who i could be

00:03:36.800 wrong but i i think they didn't disclose they were trans i don't know and then someone got hurt i'm

00:03:43.280 i'm pretty sure the only one i know they did know she was trans but i don't know all i know is that

00:03:49.360 yeah i just think if you sign up for it yeah yeah because there are girls out there who crazy enough 1.00

00:03:54.480 to be like hell yeah they like the competition i mean i will say there is one benefit to

00:04:00.720 i won't say training with men because there's training with trans women but but let's just

00:04:04.240 say both if they have an advantage is it does push you to be better because you know you've got that

00:04:11.120 competition to compete with but with team sports it's really um complicated because it's not just one

00:04:17.840 person versus one person it's not just you know like i don't know swimming where it's everyone's

00:04:22.640 running in a line or what swimming in a line it's a little more complicated when it's team sports

00:04:27.600 what did you guys think of late leah thomas did you guys agree with that i think that the way that

00:04:33.440 they dealt with leah thomas was really bad because so that she won fifth place right joint with another 0.98

00:04:40.800 girl and then they said we're going to give the trophy to the leah thomas and i'm like do you think

00:04:46.560 leah thomas should have been allowed to swim though um under the rules that they put in she didn't do 1.00

00:04:53.120 anything wrong i'm asking your personal so i mean she was quite significantly bigger than the rest of

00:05:03.440 them right and lung capacity is actually really important with swimming um i don't know my height as

00:05:09.360 much but sometimes i i mean i need a yes or a no she only came fifth right though no they was she 1.00

00:05:19.040 won a different one yeah there was more than one event i only heard more about the person because

00:05:23.680 the other person didn't even get to hold the trophy because they said leah thomas is gonna get it and 1.00

00:05:27.840 i'm like that's really cool because my my issue is with it is again it's like we we train especially

00:05:33.360 in women's sports we train so long and there's no money in it there's like no money at the end of that 1.00

00:05:38.720 so it's like you train your whole life for a couple opportunities that you get and so she trained

00:05:44.560 like and especially just like as an athlete i know how long we like look forward to our senior

00:05:48.960 year of college like that's like you've trained your whole life this is the best you're gonna be

00:05:52.800 you're probably not gonna play after this she gets to that moment and it it's taken from her if i'm

00:05:57.680 being honest because i i just don't think it's fair i mean i can hypothesize now how i would fix

00:06:03.040 these situations at least temporarily for in the meantime with something like swimming it's really easy

00:06:07.360 right so you simply just have additional trophies and then you give them one for whatever number

00:06:13.760 that they represent but the cis women aren't losing out so if there are say it's a qualifier there are

00:06:18.960 20 places but one of them goes to a trans woman just let the 21st place go in as well no i just i

00:06:25.120 just don't think we should be forced to compete with them like even even if it's an individual sport

00:06:29.520 that way no one's really losing out right if we have additional trophies we can say

00:06:33.360 cis women first second third if um leah thomas comes but then we have to make all these exceptions

00:06:38.640 like i just i just think it gets confusing and i just think we should stick it to biological men

00:06:43.360 biological women can i make a point like is it really a competition if everyone's a winner 1.00

00:06:50.080 i mean that's not everyone's a winner they would only place if they match the time or come in between

00:06:55.760 at the time of a cis woman so it wouldn't be like it's better than what is now right it would be better 0.95

00:07:01.280 than what's now because otherwise the trans woman would simply just take the place that won't be an 1.00

00:07:05.760 additional place for a cis woman let me ask i'm looking at compromises rather than saying yeah 1.00

00:07:12.400 yeah i'm just trying my best so what about for i'm just i'm just interested in if the same worry and

00:07:18.720 concern would apply for transgender people who have gone from female to male because then it would be 1.00

00:07:25.520 surely on the on the basis of your philosophy it would be a disadvantage for the trans man

00:07:33.120 up against cis men you know and i think that i just think it should be fair because you know

00:07:38.160 like if a trans man was to go against a cis man and bearing in mind the trans man has again

00:07:43.760 transitioned late in his life and has gone through female puberty yeah i don't know if they're gonna be 0.52

00:07:51.440 at the same level as a cis man but does it mean does it mean that they can't participate you know

00:07:56.640 i know i think no i i think it should be biological men biological women i think that's how we should

00:08:02.160 we should slip flip it but i i don't think okay and and you can't take drugs obviously to be in the

00:08:08.000 women's league i think it just has to be on biology i mean they can participate but they'll lose 0.99

00:08:13.520 okay it depends on the story all right okay so i can speak about i don't i don't think it depends at

00:08:20.720 all i think two leagues biological men black and white this should be a great area all right let me

00:08:27.920 speak so with gymnastics you have an advantage if you're shorter you can do more rotations obviously

00:08:33.600 more women tend to be shorter than men you also have an advantage i've seen the flips i've seen the 1.00

00:08:38.720 flips yeah simone byles is four foot ten i know no she she's very good but i'm saying the men 1.00

00:08:44.640 like they go higher when they when they jump off the no so like with gymnastics it's not just being

00:08:50.960 shorter that's beneficial but it depends on the discipline i will say there are some disciplines

00:08:54.880 within gymnastics a trans man would not have fun with like rings for example is all about upper body 1.00

00:09:00.080 strength that's gonna suck but when it comes to like floor exercise um um and also i i see it the 0.97

00:09:07.840 other way around as well a trans woman would not have an advantage because she's going to be taller 1.00

00:09:12.160 for example when you're doing beam having smaller feet is an advantage and being shorter men struggle

00:09:18.720 on the beam that's why they don't do it as a thing like men and women's gymnastics is pretty different 0.99

00:09:24.880 there's only like a couple of shared disciplines within the two um which is vault and floor um the

00:09:30.960 bars are very different for both because they're adapted so like flexibility is the biggest one in

00:09:36.720 gymnastics and women are more flexible than men so if being shorter is a benefit and being more

00:09:41.840 flexible is a benefit then it makes sense that okay maybe maybe there's specific things in gymnastics

00:09:49.360 but i still think biological men biological women to avoid all this confusion because by that logic then

00:09:55.680 the women would go into the men's league and then they would be at an advantage i i my gut is telling

00:10:01.040 me my gut's telling me the guys would still win but but you know i could be i don't know gymnastics

00:10:06.800 like that so they are quite different in gymnastics would you say that the spots where both men and

00:10:12.640 women have like the same like disciplines would you say the women are more athletic or better 1.00

00:10:18.000 gymnasts than the guys i think women are better at floor there's a reason why female gymnastics has the 1.00

00:10:22.640 highest viewership in the olympics i don't think i don't think it's because of i think you don't

00:10:28.880 think simone biles is good no i think so you think simone biles is more um is more is a better gymnast

00:10:36.080 than the best male gymnast so because the gymnastics is about flexibility rather than just pure strength

00:10:42.880 except for rings potentially um pommel horse to an extent yeah like no gymnastics is not about

00:10:50.000 flexibility flexibility flexibility is something you need to do gymnastics gymnastics is about

00:10:53.920 pulling off um skillful manoeuvres so like flexibility and so if you're short which women 0.98

00:11:02.000 tend to be shorter than men on average you're able to do more rotations on floor exercises than you are

00:11:07.840 as a man but you can you just listen you just listed a couple with less inertia you said rings yeah rings

00:11:15.280 trans men would probably yeah but the whole the whole point doesn't even really matter because if you're 1.00

00:11:19.680 saying women have the advantage then it would just be vice versa so i'm saying to avoid the confusion

00:11:25.040 it should just be biological men biological women i understand that it's like it feels good to simplify

00:11:30.400 things that way and it's not necessarily a wrong opinion to have um i i will say like although trans

00:11:37.680 women are a protected class and you know i'm pro-trans i'm not anti-trans in any way at all so are women

00:11:45.200 women are a protected class um and that becomes an issue when it seems like both sides are complaining 1.00

00:11:52.240 about their hurt feelings so for me i want to wait what do you what do you mean hurt feelings well

00:11:58.720 because i would say from the athlete's side we're not complaining about our hurt feelings we don't

00:12:02.560 want to get hurt so the two main complaints are both sides saying i'm uncomfortable for one reason

00:12:08.080 or another and i'm like i don't care if you're uncomfortable for either side it's irrelevant to how we're

00:12:12.720 going to fix the issue um and the other issue is like acceptance that is being forced to a point

00:12:21.680 where i think that to be fair i think trans women have been told a lie which is simply that reducing 0.57

00:12:27.200 your testosterone just fixes everything magically and i think they believe it um because they've been

00:12:32.480 told it who wouldn't believe things that they've been told and if certain governing bodies every

00:12:38.000 governing body in sports is different right so not every governing body allows x y or z is variable

00:12:47.120 but i do think that it's the governing bodies and sports themselves that kind of let this situation

00:12:52.480 get to the point of where it is like i don't have any ill will towards the trans people in this

00:12:58.800 discussion that's not really their fault it's like yeah but it's not about ill but we're just talking

00:13:03.920 about policies so it's not about what should you do it's like what would the policies be should

00:13:09.360 they be allowed and if i'm well i and so and so i'm a proponent of the same as him i'm like

00:13:14.880 it's variable i understand so it's yeah it depends on the sport
