Summary

In this episode, I sit down with my good friend and colleague, Dr. Kelly, to talk about why women are attracted to dangerous men and why we should all be worried about what men do to us. We talk about how dangerous men are to us and how we should be prepared to protect ourselves from them.

00:00:00.000 if men weren't disposable, we would have been a dead-end evolutionary experiment.
00:00:05.580 It wouldn't have happened if we didn't protect women at all costs. And though reason out the
00:00:12.660 window, you have to protect females if you want your species to continue, at least with human
00:00:18.000 beings. We did that for a long, long time. And it's become, I think, a sort of a rote set of
00:00:25.700 expectations in our species that somewhere at the base of our biology is protect women using men's
00:00:34.020 power, force, strength, whatever their lives, their lifeblood, to continue the species. And I think
00:00:40.380 that gets expressed in all kinds of crazy ways. It doesn't mean that we're bound to do it this way.
00:00:47.540 Obviously, we can rise above some of our programming, but I do think there's a biological
00:00:54.400 component of this. I just don't give it all. I'm not a determinist in that way. I don't give it
00:01:02.080 all the weight. Well, I almost think that way, patriarchy, that's why it's made sense for so
00:01:09.400 long because women don't really get oppressed under it because men have an innate instinct to
00:01:14.800 protect us. Right. And the rules of patriarchy says you're going to be protected by men, women and
00:01:24.400 children first. That's patriarchy, which was never a form of oppression. It was a form of privilege for
00:01:30.060 women, a wonderful thing to have. And women have squandered that, unfortunately.
00:01:38.280 Yeah, I heard you could put your husband in jail if he didn't pay the bills. I'm like, there's a lot
00:01:48.900 of women out there that would love to trade it back. You know what I mean?
00:01:57.020 Oh, yes. And, you know, there was times where if a man struck his wife, he would be whipped
00:02:03.280 publicly. There were many years where if a woman committed a crime, a husband would suffer the
00:02:10.920 punishment for it. I recommend Christina Hoff Summers, Who Stole Feminism, for a lot of the history
00:02:16.960 on so-called patriarchy. It's a great read and very enlightening about just how much privilege
00:02:26.400 women have always enjoyed. Oh, so that would probably go in the face because the number one
00:02:36.640 pushback I get is the abuse of men are just going to abuse you. The men just wake up and think abuse.
00:02:43.160 How am I going to abuse women today? And if we give them too much-
00:02:46.040 You're going to twirl the mustache while you think of ways to oppress and abuse.
00:02:49.940 It's so ridiculous.
00:02:54.620 Yes, it is. It is ridiculous. Feminists will find abuse under every rock and in every dark corner.
00:03:04.200 It's all over the place for them. But it is just part of the feminist narrative that men are abusers.
00:03:11.560 Men are protectors. They always have been. And yes, there is a small percentage of men that are
00:03:18.040 jerks and do terrible things. And that guy that comes home after thinking, I'm going to put my
00:03:24.620 wife in her place. He does exist. He's one in a thousand, but they're out there. And feminists
00:03:31.840 have painted all men under that guy's image. Well, it's funny. I think that we do that because
00:03:38.140 we love these terrible men. Oh, we love them. Like Ted Bundy. We love Ted Bundy. You know, it's like
00:03:44.420 I was like, maybe we think that because we just love them so much. We're like, we love these abusive
00:03:50.900 men. You know, for years I spent working, you said you didn't know what it meant. I worked in
00:03:57.180 substance abuse, alcoholics, drug addicts, that sort of thing. And I can't even tell you how many
00:04:02.960 women I canceled over the years that were in like their fourth marriage with their fourth abusive
00:04:08.540 alcoholic husband. And if you ask, are we seeing a pattern here? Even some of your peers would get
00:04:19.700 angry about that, implying that there's some responsibility. But yes, women are attracted to
00:04:26.300 dangerous men. That is a truth that we're not supposed to say, but it's still true.
