In this episode, Laura Williamson interviews Florida gubernatorial candidate Dean Phillips about his campaign and why he believes the Democratic Party should allow anyone but Joe Biden to be on the primary ballot in Florida. She also talks about why she thinks the Democratic National Committee should allow other candidates to run against Joe Biden.
00:00:17.000President Eisenhower said the American mind at its best is both liberal and I actually live in Florida.
00:00:33.000I'm a journalist and I've been going around covering the various political events.
00:00:37.000And one thing that is actually very important to majority of Americans, not just Republicans, is election integrity.
00:00:43.000And what I find to be really troubling, even as a conservative voter, is the fact that the DNC threatened the New Hampshire Democrat Party With, I guess, what would you call it?
00:00:55.000Sanctions, I suppose, if they allowed for other candidates to participate in the primary, such as yourself and Dean Phillips, running against Joe Biden.
00:01:04.000And so, what I wanted to know is, how do you feel about David Plouffe, who is Barack Obama's former campaign manager, obviously he worked with Joe Biden as well, literally telling Democrat voters and Democrat mega donors like Reid Hoffman To not only vote for,
00:01:20.000but donate to Nikki Haley, who is a warmonger, instead of the Democrat candidates.
00:01:26.000I mean, you would think that somebody like David Plouffe, who worked with Obama, who claims to be a progressive, right?
00:01:32.000He's always talking about community organizing.
00:01:35.000Why are they telling Democrat donors to give their money?
00:01:38.000And it's not just Obama, it's Hillary Clinton and her donors too.
00:01:42.000Telling Democrats and Democrat voters Vote for Nikki Haley, right?
00:01:47.000And you have Reid Hoffman, who's the second largest donor to the Democrat Party after George Soros, who literally just gave a quarter of a million dollars to her PAC. So what do you think about that, especially given your anti-war position?
00:02:00.000Well, first of all, she is to the right of Donald Trump, and particularly on issues of war.
00:02:05.000You're right, that woman is chomping the bit.
00:02:15.000I was specifically about a letter from David Plouffe or Reid Hoffman.
00:02:18.000However, when you first started talking, I thought you were going to ask me what do I feel about the fact that Florida has just taken its dictates from the Florida Democratic Party and kicked off anyone but President Biden from the primary ballot there.
00:02:33.000And the law in Florida is if there's only one name, they're not going to have one.
00:02:37.000So I thought you were going to ask me how do I feel about the fact that the Florida Democrats can't even vote?
00:02:48.000And that's why my point is, is that we all, over 70% of Americans, and this was a poll conducted by CNN, published by them, believe that our elections are not legitimate because they feel like there's a uniparty.
00:02:59.000And personally, like, I'll just be honest, I am a Trump supporter, but I resonate with a lot of what you say, particularly with regards to the system being rigged, the system being unfair, You know, the need to get out of foreign wars and conflicts, and I believe that his policies support that.
00:03:12.000However, I do think that we need to address this idea that it's the parties that are going to decide who our candidates are, because just like they're not allowing for Democrats to vote for who they want to vote for, whether it be in Florida, where, just for the record, I apologize for Ron DeSantis.
00:03:31.000But also, too, you see the same thing happening to President Trump right now with the ballot removal cases.
00:03:37.000Do you also feel then, as a Democrat candidate, that if you want to have You know, your voice heard and you want to be on the ballot instead of the DNC deciding that it's just, you know, Joe Biden acting like a dictator.
00:03:48.000Don't you also think that it's wrong for the Democrats and the Secretaries of States to be removing Trump from the ballot?
00:03:53.000Shouldn't we allow for the people to decide?
00:03:55.000Because I personally think that it's wrong.
00:03:57.000And I just went to Dean Phillips's event to ask him the same question and he kicked me out.
00:04:01.000So I came and I appreciate you answering my question, even though his signs say everyone's invited.
00:04:08.000Well, first of all, what has happened, speaking as a Democrat, what has happened on our side in Florida, in Tennessee, in North Carolina, in Wisconsin?
00:04:37.000And let's be very clear, many Democrats are very aware, probably a lot of people in this room are very aware, it's not good for us when they kick Donald Trump off those ballots because that makes him more of a martyr in the eyes of many of his supporters.
00:04:52.000So I don't think the Democrats are looking at things like, oh, we can get him off the ballot.
00:06:10.000But you know, on the other hand, on something like that, who people vote for is their business.
00:06:15.000And if I've learned anything from being in the Granite State, as the Granite State is going to vote for who they want to.
00:06:20.000And the beauty, actually, of this state is that there's an independent streak here, and I don't think anybody is going to do what anyone, the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, David Clough, or Marianne Williamson, tells them to do.
