00:00:56.380 to speak to an advisor free of charge bet mgm operates pursuant to an operating agreement with
00:00:59.500 i gaming ontario yeah wait for the red it's just the people that are like yeah it's way harder
00:01:04.820 i don't i'm not making as much money but then you go to the restaurant on a monday night it's packed
00:01:11.220 you can't even get a table yeah it's a bit of a contradiction right like they they because they
00:01:15.920 don't have enough money to buy let's say a house but they have enough money to just like kind of do
00:01:21.520 useless but then that's that's a crazy thing there's tiny house now you could buy a house
00:01:27.420 for 30k dude like if i could buy a house for 30k when i was 19 i would probably still live in
00:01:33.280 california but that's the weird thing too is like it's only not enough money if you're trying to
00:01:39.480 live like everybody else i guess you think that's what it is it's just like like there's like a
00:01:44.960 i think that's america's created uh or people in america have like a certain standard of living
00:01:51.340 that they don't want to go below well yeah there was a thing called cribs mtv cribs
00:01:57.100 you know what i'm talking about gold cribs yeah yeah dude i was like watch cribs and then pimp my
00:02:02.760 ride yeah but i never really liked the pimp my ride but the cribs i was like this is ruining
00:02:07.660 people i was saying that like 20 years ago because now people are saying they all start to have this
00:02:12.420 mindset like yeah i should have a tv that like comes out of the countertop when i'm in the jacuzzi
00:02:17.700 you know that they all and it's well multiply that times a billion now that's instagram because
00:02:22.720 instead of just cribs it's on like one you know one hour out of the week people are just scrolling
00:02:27.640 and they're saying like yeah i should have this i should have that they're like i don't have enough
00:02:30.360 money for all these things it's like yeah but a generation before you didn't have any of those
00:02:34.720 things they weren't they weren't going out to eat multiple days a week they weren't like
00:02:38.460 so i i don't know dude it's it's a weird deal like the price of everything has skyrocketed the
00:02:43.420 Homie, Joe Brown, hit me up from Tennessee and said, look at this.
00:02:47.180 I thought he's from Georgia.
00:02:48.000 Well, no, he's traveling because he's a big dog at work now, too.
00:02:50.660 And he's like, look at these prices.
00:02:53.960 He's like, you're the first person I thought of.
00:02:56.520 And it was like just outrageous prices on the menu.
00:02:59.540 And I was like, yeah, but the place is packed.
00:03:01.060 He's like, yep.
00:03:02.580 Like, people don't care.
00:03:03.860 And I don't know how many of those people are putting on a credit card.
00:03:06.580 So then if the steak that used to be $35 is like $80 now, and you put it on a credit card
00:03:12.000 and don't pay it off at the end of the month,
00:03:13.800 you end up paying $100 for the same.
00:03:15.580 You know what it is, man?
00:03:16.520 And it's something that I see I'm learning from you.
00:03:21.620 The onesies and twosies idea.
00:03:23.520 Don't make that face at me.
00:03:24.400 Well, no, I don't like when you say that
00:03:25.820 because your whole thing is like your audio is weird.
00:03:28.140 My audio is weird?
00:03:29.160 Oh, wait.
00:03:30.300 Just my audio?
00:03:31.620 They sound distant.
00:03:32.660 Everyone's audio is weird.
00:03:33.780 Hold on.
00:03:34.480 Boom, you guys missed a lot of good conversation.
00:03:38.360 Did they hear any of it?
00:03:39.600 They did.
00:03:40.020 They heard it, but it was poor quality.
00:03:41.800 Joe Brown heard it.
00:03:42.580 He's right.
00:03:43.100 I was in Nashville at a steakhouse.
00:03:44.720 All right, we're going to start from there.
00:03:46.260 But the idea of onesies and twosies that you do at the shop,
00:03:51.060 I fall into this trap even as a small business owner of a dude that's like,
00:03:55.680 we're going to make like a big, like the big lump sum now.
00:03:59.020 You know what I mean?
00:03:59.700 Like this large thing and then grab it and chill for a little bit.
00:04:04.300 But it's not about that.
00:04:05.240 It's about this constant grind of $1 here, $1 here.
00:04:09.540 and i think people see a large price tag let's say for a house or a car or something that's like
00:04:15.660 unattainable and they go i got a couple thousand dollars but i don't have five hundred thousand
00:04:21.160 dollars so i'll just spend this little bit here and i have enough to live and you know i don't
00:04:25.920 really need to work every day because i don't have the higher goal to save up you know what
00:04:29.600 you know i'm saying yeah i think that's what it is that's been my life dude is i'm like
00:04:33.660 when i when i was uh 18 when i first like got my own place i paid 750 a month for a trailer
00:04:40.020 in a trailer park in livermore and i was making like 350 400 a week dude and i was like paying
00:04:46.240 not just my rent but then everything for my vehicle my food everything bro so i had like
00:04:51.460 no money like i had to have every cent budgeted but like you look at people if they spend 100
00:04:56.060 bucks a week on going out to eat if you take 100 bucks a week and just put it in a savings account
00:05:02.000 what is that at the end of the year 52 weeks is that five g's at the end of the it's five g's at
00:05:07.460 the end of the year and the thing people lose sight and then if you have that in like a um
00:05:11.660 three or four percent interest account like you got to get them online and they won't do it at
00:05:16.180 the bank like bro that just snowballs dude like like aiden had uh like nine or ten k in a um in
00:05:23.760 a cd at the bank that was paying five percent he's made a thousand bucks on his money just sitting
00:05:28.800 there over i think it's been two years now or a year and a half whatever it is but it's like
00:05:33.260 it snowballs well debt does the same thing it compounds like so if you're in debt and then
00:05:38.240 you're like paying the interest and you keep paying and paying it compounds to the bad but
00:05:42.980 if you do the flip but you're right people are like yeah but it feels good to spend 100 bucks
00:05:47.100 at a restaurant right now well because you're compounding interest on something that i can't
00:05:51.300 have now right there's like the delayed gratification and that is definitely lost that's
00:05:57.120 something that we don't practice i i mean i get it for young people i understand it like you're
00:06:01.740 living right now and everything's moving fast but like in general i don't as a as a culture as a
00:06:07.160 society we don't really do that you know what's a good thing dude is um buying gold and silver
00:06:12.980 because like people you still are kind of uh scratching that itch to like accumulate to like
00:06:19.700 get stuff but you're not you're just you're saving yeah but it's exciting if you have just a bank
00:06:24.560 account and see the dollars go up in the bank account too like it's exciting once you get that
00:06:27.960 ball rolling but like to buy gold and silver especially if you buy cool coins that you like
00:06:32.680 that's like a cool way for people mentally to to still be like collecting and you know buying and
00:06:39.160 accumulating but they're actually accumulating money it's just a different kind of money it's
00:06:44.680 interesting because it's getting into the same subject that uh we're going to be talking about
00:06:48.580 today with the g campbell morgan series we're talking about john no we're talking about john
00:06:52.340 the apostle are we later yeah i think so yeah let's go i missed last week so i know i think
00:06:56.940 you did andrew last week people liked it okay i gotta re-watch that episode i didn't watch it
00:07:01.520 or i gotta read the uh the chapter on him but uh this part with john i think i it's not that i see
00:07:09.460 myself as john or in john but like you see characteristics of that so like this guy is
00:07:13.820 the one of the sons of thunder he's a dude that's like moving and a guy that's doing things and i
00:07:20.260 don't know if he's necessarily thinking so much about the future but he's asking for things and
00:07:24.860 he's doing things right now rather than bargaining with the future and i think jesus the great
00:07:30.040 physician john that's your take on him as he's like bargaining he's ready to do it now it seems
00:07:34.680 like he's yeah it seems like he's a kind of dude that's like if if you're out there being brash
00:07:39.560 and bold you're a dude that's like about it right now you're not a dude that's planting seeds
00:07:44.480 necessarily for later you know what i mean that personality type so i i wonder if that app that
00:07:49.580 applies to today but um he doesn't stay that way right john ends up john ends up growing in what
00:07:57.440 in what jesus taught him yeah he's interesting i mean i think as we unpack it you find out he may
00:08:03.400 even be from like a wealthy family because we unpack the story and then that's always intriguing
00:08:08.980 man you know what god does with somebody who's like comes from wealth as opposed to somebody
00:08:13.020 who's got nothing to lose if you will in the natural realm and then he ends up using him for
00:08:18.560 like you know potentially one of the greatest things that's ever happened in human history
00:08:23.900 like it's the the book of revelation has revealed the jaw it's like i mean people who else would
00:08:28.800 you compare like who's the second biggest prophet of end times like nostradamus and it's still not
00:08:33.500 even close to what revelation is who's nostradamus exactly you see exactly i'm just saying like people
00:08:39.580 that predict end time stuff oh we're doing the chat okay no no we're not doing the chat i was
00:08:45.120 just seeing if anybody was into the gold and silver.
00:08:46.960 I mean, Qui-Gon's into collecting coins,
00:08:48.540 but I don't know what that means.
00:08:50.060 If that's just like the pennies from the certain years
00:08:52.380 and the dimes and nickels and quarters from certain years,
00:08:54.680 that's a rad thing.
00:08:55.760 I think that's a great hobby.
00:08:57.240 Yeah.
00:08:57.740 But I mean, investment-grade bullion is like a little bit different.
00:09:02.820 Yeah.
00:09:03.060 I mean, you gave me some silver too for my birthday,
00:09:06.020 which is cool.
00:09:06.560 It's always nice.
00:09:07.980 You put it in the...
00:09:09.060 Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:09:10.520 Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:09:11.520 I'm not supposed to say that.
00:09:12.820 No.
00:09:13.120 I mean, as long as we're talking about birthdays.
00:09:15.900 Oh, yeah, that's right.
00:09:17.560 Hey.
00:09:18.920 Shout out, Anchovy Apostle.
00:09:22.240 Okay, we got to get cooking in the story, though, here in a minute.
00:09:25.400 Okay.
00:09:25.780 All right, but we have gifts to open.
00:09:27.220 Okay.
00:09:27.780 I think your birthday is not even today, though.
00:09:29.600 So it's tomorrow, right?
00:09:30.620 Well, this just says birthday, boy.
00:09:32.860 Okay, Matt.
00:09:33.580 This one does say Matt.
00:09:34.460 A lot of T's.
00:09:35.600 A lot of T's.
00:09:36.340 Very cool.
00:09:36.880 Wow.
00:09:37.180 You got a wrapped present, too.
00:09:39.040 This is classy, bro.
00:09:40.460 It is.

00:12:07.460 she's from that's the town i know but it sounds like it means something i think it means beer
00:12:11.460 beer yeah genesee isn't there a beer that's uh genesis uh there's something like that
00:12:18.700 i had no idea okay that was very cool man i really appreciate it now we're going to start
00:12:24.180 rocking the uh then we're going to start rocking the john the apostle from g camel morgan you guys
00:12:29.440 ready let's do this okay so we wrapped up andrew what what are we in like the fourth one yeah
00:12:39.680 okay all right john the apostle here we go you guys ready in dealing with the subject of our
00:12:46.040 lord's methods with john the apostle i show i shall proceed upon the assumption which is a
00:12:52.620 reasoned conviction that the disciple whom jesus loved referred to in the gospel is john himself
00:12:57.600 and that he wrote this story of jesus so you know all the places where it where it refers to like
00:13:02.220 the um the disciple whom jesus loved he's writing about himself isn't that rad yeah yeah i think
00:13:10.100 that's rad though that that's his identity his identity isn't even that the one who loved jesus
00:13:14.780 He's like, dude, my identity is like, I'm just the guy that Jesus loved.
00:13:19.160 I think that's a rad identity.
00:13:20.960 But it's neat that he refers to himself as that.
00:13:25.820 If these things be granted, one of the outstanding facts in his narrative is that of his reticence in referring to himself by name.
00:13:33.280 As a matter of fact, he never names himself in the gospel.
00:13:36.740 Moreover, his reticence in referring to those to whom he was related is equally marked.
00:13:41.200 he never mentions his brother's name or his mother's name or the name of the virgin mother
00:13:46.000 from the synoptic writings we know that john was the son of zebedee and salome
00:13:51.320 it is well to remember that while zebedee and his two sons john and james were fishermen
00:13:56.620 it does not necessarily follow that they were poor men i always say that i always think like yeah
00:14:02.340 they weren't poor they had a fishing business yeah but it's weird i think a lot of people do
00:14:07.140 they imagine them as being fishermen and they're picturing them like fishing off a bridge and like
00:14:11.660 eating their fish over like a garbage can fire they probably yeah they probably do and they
00:14:16.560 probably eat over you know then they probably dress like crap they're fishermen i don't know
00:14:20.440 but they make money that fish was probably like so healthy too though dude the same way you
00:14:24.760 you usually kind of dress like but but you got money like what okay no wait so they said geneseo
00:14:31.660 means beautiful valley or pleasant valley that makes sense it's beautiful there dude great apples
00:14:36.180 too it sounds it just sounds like a word that means something like dude so she was from the
00:14:42.060 middle of nowhere like before social media and stuff so when we met i was like so what did you
00:14:47.340 do growing up she's like oh we'd have like hot cocoa around the fire i was like yeah like what
00:14:52.700 else she's like yeah like hot cocoa around the fire they do like warm apple cider or something
00:14:58.080 yeah and just like watch movies and just like live out in the country man i was like wow this
00:15:03.020 is i was like this is crazy but that's why she was afraid of everything when i met her
00:15:06.500 she wouldn't drive over bridges she was afraid to swim she was afraid to snorkel she wouldn't
00:15:11.640 drive over bridges no no i was trying to give her directions one time and she and she got all weird
00:15:16.200 on the phone because it was like we didn't have gps right yeah and i was like what what's what's
00:15:21.760 wrong and she's like well that's you have to go over a bridge i was like yeah she's like well i
00:15:26.020 don't i don't i don't drive over bridges i was like well i don't understand what you're saying
00:15:29.780 you can't you can't go off the road either way it doesn't matter if you're on a bridge or not
00:15:33.640 you can't just go off the road you got to stay in the lane right but she was just like i don't know
00:15:39.120 it's so wild now because even if you live in the country you're so connected to everything it kind
00:15:43.240 of doesn't make a difference anymore but back then it was still so different your mindset was
00:15:46.980 so different if you lived in the middle of nowhere but there was a college there so that was chill
00:15:51.160 So, all right, back to this.
00:15:56.460 Mark and Luke both refer to the fact that Zebedee had hired servants.
00:16:00.540 It is also quite clear that Zebedee and his sons were in partnership with Simon and Andrew.
00:16:05.080 Salome, the mother of this man, was the sister of the Virgin Mary.
00:16:08.800 This will be found by reference to Matthew.
00:16:11.620 I hate Roman numerals, dude.
00:16:14.240 Matthew 27, 55 and 56.
00:16:17.680 And John 19, 25.
00:16:21.640 He's just making the point that Salome, the mother of John, was the sister of the Virgin Mary.
00:16:27.280 And he references those two points to prove it.
00:16:29.700 Therefore, after the flesh, he was a cousin of Jesus.
00:16:33.440 Hmm.
00:16:34.480 Because you hear about John the Baptist being a cousin, but it's like their parents were cousins.
00:16:37.840 Like Elizabeth was the cousin of Mary, if I remember right.
00:16:42.880 But actually, John the Apostle was an actual cousin.
00:16:46.700 Their moms were sisters.
00:16:48.580 That's interesting.
00:16:49.240 It is equally evident that Siloam, whether in her own right or not, we cannot tell, was a woman of means, if not of wealth.
00:16:58.980 Luke has given us eight, that's in Luke 8.3, Roman numerals again, the list of a company of wealthy women who ministered to the necessity of Jesus, and Siloam was one of such.
00:17:11.580 That's intriguing.
00:17:12.460 That's intriguing.
00:17:13.120 Like, Jesus had money.
00:17:15.100 He had money.
00:17:15.680 There was wealthy women pouring into his ministry, if you will, giving him money.
00:17:21.040 He had a dude named Judas who was in charge of the money.
00:17:24.640 They had money, and yet we don't have a record of him begging for money.
00:17:29.300 We just have the record of him being cared for, people giving him money, but not the record of him asking for the money, which is wild.
00:17:37.380 I don't know.
00:17:38.120 I've always noticed that.
00:17:39.120 I've always noticed it like, okay, he operated with money.
00:17:41.240 He had money.
00:17:41.820 People were donating to him, if you will, but he wasn't asking for it.
00:17:45.680 like that's the model. And I would say the same about Paul, like Paul, where you see him asking
00:17:50.460 for money, it's for the poor at Jerusalem that he had made orphans and widows in his previous life
00:17:56.260 before he was converted. So that's a different thing too, man. That'd be like me and knowing
00:18:01.160 all the people I turned into junkies and then trying to, you know, take up an offering to go
00:18:05.720 help junkies. Right? Like if I just, if I still had that with me my whole life, you feel like
00:18:09.520 Paul kind of had that with him his whole life, but it's intriguing to see that these guys have
00:18:13.600 money but you don't see him begging for it and also why wouldn't he have money what do you mean
00:18:20.580 jesus well it looks like he forsook his career i mean like he was a carpenter he had some kind
00:18:26.060 of income yeah he tells all these dudes to follow him they had some kind of income
00:18:30.060 and they and they forsook that and went into to work on behalf of the kingdom of god so it's kind
00:18:35.660 of like yeah where'd they get the money from i don't know wealthy people were pouring into what
00:18:42.200 they were doing which so that's part of the game and i think we brought up passages last week or
00:18:47.180 two weeks ago where it says like don't muzzle the ox it treads out the corn like yeah pay these guys
00:18:51.260 doing the work but you don't see you don't see like especially like creative ways of trying to
00:18:57.040 take in money right right okay these references will help us to realize yeah i think as the story
00:19:04.420 goes on you realize yeah john kind of looks like he came from money these references will help us
00:19:10.620 to realize that John was not a poor man in our sense of the term. Those times were simpler and
00:19:16.040 better times in that matter than those in which we live. It's funny how people say that. He's
00:19:20.440 writing in the 1800s. Yeah, yeah, exactly. And he's saying like, oh man, the old days were better
00:19:25.940 than this. Isn't that wild? Is he saying that? Read that sentence again. These references will
00:19:32.600 help us to realize that John was not a poor man in our sense of the term. Those times were simpler
00:19:37.940 and better times in that matter than those in which we live i think we talk about it like think
00:19:45.780 how good the food was yeah but i'm not so sure that's what he's talking about what do you mean
00:19:51.420 he might be saying it's easier now or better now in the 1800s no i just no no i have i got to think
00:19:59.500 about that sentence but it's fair all right those times were simpler and better times in that matter
00:20:04.740 than those in which we live.
00:20:06.240 It is also to be remembered that John had a house in Jerusalem.
00:20:10.720 You can reference like John chapter 20 verses 1 through 10 and like John 19, 27, because
00:20:17.260 some people might be like, wait, how's he coming up with that?
00:20:19.060 But those are the references.
00:20:20.840 He was in that house.
00:20:23.580 It was in that house he gave shelter to Peter after he had denied his Lord, and surely it
00:20:29.620 was to that house he first took the mother of Jesus when she was committed to his care
00:20:33.380 in the dark hour of the cross.
00:20:34.740 Because it's interesting because, like, he says, woman, behold thy son, son, behold thy mother.
00:20:41.940 And then it says after that that John took her to his own home, right?
00:20:47.080 But they're all there on the day of Pentecost, too.
00:20:49.340 They're all in Jerusalem.
00:20:50.760 Yeah.
00:20:50.960 And so if John had took Mary to his own home, like, they're still there at Pentecost.
00:20:57.560 Mary's there in the upper room, and it says, like, the 120, and they were there, and it says, and Mary.
00:21:03.040 so they're all there so it looks like that's where he's able to draw his conclusion john must
00:21:08.100 have had a home in jerusalem which kind of lends to the idea that they had money right yeah you
00:21:12.940 got to have money in a major city because they were in galilee they're operating in galilee
00:21:17.540 they're out they're operating in capernaum and then jerusalem is not you know it's it's a it's
00:21:21.960 a ways away from there so sounds intriguing
00:21:25.760 so that would be a good example though somebody who can still rock with having money
00:21:32.880 right we're aware of the dangers of money especially the stuff we've been unpacking
00:21:36.200 lately you can't serve god and mammon but there's people that can do it faithfully you know the
00:21:40.020 thing is i think this is what he's saying even though we did have money i think the living
00:21:43.980 conditions and the standards of the standard of living is going to be generally the same
00:21:48.520 yeah fairly low dude i would say that today i would i would say that like as long as you have
00:21:55.320 like a home a bed and a pillow a shower um enough food your body is always giving you signals

00:22:33.660 Water, electricity, air conditioning, if you live in Florida, a car, right?
00:22:39.240 Like, like to me, I'm like, if you have those things.
00:22:42.360 You're living better than, you know, like you would want to rent out John the Apostle's house in Jerusalem in 0 AD.
00:22:49.520 no right you wouldn't want to live there that's like and that dude is rich you know you definitely
00:22:54.640 have it as good as those people i'm just saying you have it better the people i know that have
00:22:58.880 like mansion houses multiple houses potentially even like you know uh airplanes or boats like
00:23:08.920 that's that doesn't make their life that much better it really doesn't like like if you if
00:23:14.860 you live in poverty and you don't have like a bed and a pillow and a shower and a home and food and
00:23:19.920 water and an air conditioner yeah that sucks you know it's like it's like uh when we were on the
00:23:25.340 cruise we have let's like oh there's a tv here and a bed and a couch and a fridge it's like it's
00:23:30.340 kind of like my house but i'm on the ocean yeah okay like it's that much better i don't know
00:23:37.700 you could look at the ocean but like realistically do we do you need that to live dude that's a thing
00:23:43.360 in the human experience it's like say you drive a super fancy car right people sit tell me i should
00:23:48.100 get a nicer car it's like after i don't know six weeks it's just your car yeah like you drive an
00:23:53.700 eighty thousand dollar vehicle like in six weeks it's just your vehicle and also like does it my
00:23:58.920 thing with the cars is like did i get there right right right what's the purpose of this thing a to
00:24:04.700 b like what am i you know and it's like oh but in the beginning it's so exciting i have this super
00:24:08.780 fancy car maybe it makes me look cool it's like yeah but in six weeks it's just your car when it
00:24:12.760 wears off that's the that's honestly the worst part because now you got this shiny thing that
00:24:17.620 you like that looks quite dull yeah but all these things we have to realize that after six weeks it's
00:24:23.080 just our it's just our stuff so if whether it's a mansion you know if it's a mansion then you end
00:24:27.500 up like oh i just have a lot more to clean now yeah it's like i don't know people should be
00:24:31.460 mindful of that not be trapped by the uncertain riches right i think that's what uh uh g camel
00:24:36.720 morgan is talking about here when he when he said that about uh his wealth that sentence for some
00:24:42.520 reason that sentence i like you get a new phone and it's it's a weird one you get and you peel
00:24:47.300 like the plastic off and you're like oh yeah this thing is but this thing's with you all day and
00:24:52.820 within three days you're used to it right that's what i'm saying about everything it's like i'm now
00:24:58.740 i feel dead inside a bit look at this thing this thing is amazing it does so much shit and it's
00:25:03.120 just like everything in life is like that dude yeah it would be it would be better to be living
00:25:08.440 in this time where
00:25:10.140 you could possibly
00:25:12.240 appreciate some of these things more.
00:25:14.760 So if he's a rich
00:25:16.340 dude and he's walking around with the apostles,
00:25:18.600 they're still kind of like
00:25:20.020 appreciating the same things.
00:25:22.000 The standard of living isn't that
00:25:23.600 extraordinary. I don't know. That's why I just want to
00:25:26.280 have things that get better and
00:25:28.220 get cooler. The ultimate is the Bible.
00:25:30.380 The Bible to me is the
00:25:32.160 exact opposite of that. It's not like
00:25:34.040 six weeks in to reading the Bible and you're like,
00:25:36.000 man, it's like the longer you
00:25:38.080 read it yeah the better it gets the more you can cross reference the more things start making sense
00:25:42.880 i don't think that's ever runs out i don't think there's ever a man who like got it all figured out
00:25:47.280 from the word of god i think anybody who fell in love with the word of god just kept going after
00:25:51.440 it and it kept them excited their whole life it's like the only thing that's most like that and a
00:25:56.000 marriage can be like that too you could get the marriage better and better but that's really hard
00:26:00.000 right because people just get used to each other and you can start to really point out the flaws
00:26:03.760 in one another but you can though yeah if you cultivate it to like make it better it can get
00:26:08.900 better and better and i think that's what's exciting about seasons like in a food forest too
00:26:12.760 is like it's changing i think god loves us that's why he gave us seasons it's a lot different from
00:26:17.540 a car though a car once you drive it off a lot it's well no it's decreasing in value so yeah
00:26:23.140 the other things that you're talking about at least have the potential to increase that's up to
00:26:26.940 you yeah and they just they keep this sense of adventure with it when it comes to like farming
00:26:31.520 and stuff is like this stuff's changing man like you're growing a thing like it's growing up it's
00:26:35.600 producing fruit you got to cut it you got to cut it you got to prune it it goes dormant then the
00:26:40.280 fruit comes back next year and like you just have these processes that keep you fresh man there is
00:26:45.000 yeah man raising a squirrel right now is a process for me that i'm like it it's actually really
00:26:49.840 exciting because we had one dude we had the same thing i don't know you must have rescued it out
00:26:55.740 of a tree or something the mom abandoned it he walked up to the house and he was like climbing
00:26:59.360 up my leg i was just standing there no way yeah yeah and came right to you like that came right
00:27:04.380 to us and he's yeah he's like on my shoe so i was like all right there's something wrong i wouldn't
00:27:09.020 usually pick up a random squirrel because i'm like maybe he'll go back but i'm like if he's
00:27:13.160 climbing up your leg that means that mom's not here that's wild yeah so we're like all right
00:27:17.520 we got to figure out how to take care of and luckily david knows everything about taking
00:27:21.300 care of squirrels how does david know he's raised six of them or so what oh that's right he had all
00:27:26.380 the weird pets but yeah we had we had one it used to like chill in a shoebox and then we did it for
00:27:31.540 like a week or something and jess was like i'm done with this i can start like squeaking sort
00:27:35.740 of like squeaking like wanting the food and stuff yeah yeah she's like i don't have time for this
00:27:39.460 and we took it to the shelter like the squirrel shelter whatever it is all right well we'll see
00:27:43.360 how long this lasts but i'm excited about it keep reading okay we know one other fact concerning
00:27:48.200 john that he was a friend of the high priest it is quite true there may be different interpretations
00:27:53.600 of the reference mr morton this is him just referencing an og mr morton in his remarkable
00:27:59.260 book uh in the footsteps of jesus that's the name of the book by mr morton has endeavored to account
00:28:04.740 for john finding access to the palace by saying that he probably sold fish and knew the household
00:28:09.780 so saying like how did john have access to the high priest and uh this guy mr morton is making
00:28:14.780 the point well he sold fish and that's how he knew him he sold him coffee possibly the only remark i
00:28:20.680 have to make on that is that it is entirely gratuitous in view of the fact that the New
00:28:25.480 Testament distinctly tells us he was a friend of the high priest. So it's not just fish, you know,
00:28:30.400 he was a friend of the high priest. This, of course, was the reason why he had access to the
00:28:35.000 high priestly court. Then, moreover, we are familiar with his intimate friends, his own
00:28:39.440 brother, James, Andrew, and Simon. And as in other cases, this fact must be taken into account in
00:28:44.560 thinking of the man. In looking at him, we may very rapidly follow in chronological sequence
00:28:50.040 the places where he appears in the gospel narratives.
00:28:52.140 We first see him with Andrew following Jesus as they left John the Baptist.
00:28:56.460 He is next seen about 18 months later when Jesus called him to leave Zebedee
00:28:59.980 and told him he would make him a fisher of men.
00:29:02.680 Then we find him among the number of the apostles chosen by our Lord.
00:29:06.780 Once more, we see him sent forth with the other apostles.
00:29:10.160 These are the only references to him during the first three years of our Lord's ministry,
00:29:14.320 except that he was associated with Peter and James in the visit to the house of Jairus.
00:29:18.320 In the final six months, he is seen first in the same company on the Mount of Transfiguration.
00:29:23.800 Then we see him angry with one who had cast out demons in the name of Jesus,
00:29:27.600 but who is not acting with the company of the apostles.
00:29:31.660 Remember that story?
00:29:33.200 Yeah, yeah.
00:29:33.620 And Jesus tells him, leave him alone.
00:29:35.500 Yeah, he says, hey, we've seen this guy.
00:29:36.840 He's casting out demons, but he's not with us.
00:29:39.220 We should rebuke him.
00:29:41.080 Jesus says, what do you?
00:29:41.840 No, no, no, no.
00:29:43.360 Here it is worthy of note that we should not have known of this fact,
00:29:46.800 except that john himself has confessed it as a mistake made by himself so if you read that story
00:29:53.620 um it says right it was when the lord had an answer to their inquiry about greatness set a
00:30:01.760 child in the midst that john told this story so so jesus set a child in the midst and said you must
00:30:06.240 be like a child and in that context that's when john admits to hey we told this guy to stop because
00:30:12.260 wasn't part of our group and g camel morgan is making the point that it's uh it's worthy to
00:30:16.500 note that we should not have known this fact except that john himself had confessed it as
00:30:20.260 a mistake like john was saying john was admitting it to jesus saying hey as long as we're talking
00:30:25.060 about you know being childlike like i made a mistake you know i rebuked this guy because
00:30:29.380 he wasn't part of our group and jesus says yeah man you think it's bad now where do you see like
00:30:34.660 2026 bro and people say oh you're not part of our group you're out what's the age difference between
00:30:39.780 jesus and john do we know you know uh no i don't i think it's it feels like it's
00:30:47.620 a lot what do you mean that john's way younger yeah i don't know man i don't know if g kimble
00:30:56.020 morgan gets into it did you read ahead does he get into it uh i don't remember no it's
00:31:00.820 something i'm wondering i think i think legend has it that he's younger because he outran peter
00:31:07.060 to the to the tomb but who knows if peter was older than jesus i don't know yeah off the top
00:31:13.140 of my head i don't know soon after that we see him going through samaria with jesus and desiring
00:31:18.360 to call down fire upon a village that had refused hospitality to his lord you like that i know you
00:31:22.920 like that story yeah man yeah they refused hospitality to jesus and john goes you want
00:31:26.980 us to send fire down from heaven it's biblical precedent for that and jesus says no you don't
00:31:32.720 know what spirit you're of that's not what we're doing mark gives us an account of his coming with
00:31:37.460 his brother to jesus seeking the position of power in the kingdom matthew in this connection shows
00:31:42.220 that they made their request through their mother that's when the mom came and said hey can my sons
00:31:46.660 have you know one sit at your right one sit at your left when you come into your kingdom
00:31:50.140 here too it is well to remember that however we may be tempted to criticize them for the request
00:31:55.300 it is arresting that they were asking it in dark days when our lord was telling them that he was
00:31:59.500 going to die, strangely perplexing them. Nevertheless, they believed he was somehow
00:32:04.080 coming into the kingdom and so preferred their request. We're talking about that earlier that
00:32:08.380 like, it seems a little shady and selfish, but they wanted in on it. They wanted to be close
00:32:13.060 to him. They want to be a part of what he's doing. And even when people do things in like shady ways,
00:32:19.320 when they value the kingdom of God, somehow that's like, God values that. He says, okay,
00:32:24.180 you see the value in this that's good which is really the story of israel jacob when he gets
00:32:30.360 given the name israel right you look at his life you know especially compared to esau it's like
00:32:34.840 he did some shady stuff esau seems like more of the chill dude but ultimately esau didn't care
00:32:39.860 about eternal things and jacob did even though he was a little sneaky about it some would say a lot
00:32:46.180 sneaky there's there's a lesson in that man yeah why like why is it serpent and gentle as doves
00:32:54.120 man there's like but it's also that like what were we talking about the at the top of the show
00:32:58.120 the guy that's kind of like sitting back and just you know make if you're sitting back and you're
00:33:04.280 making you're making your salary that guy's gonna stay where they're at but the dude that's out
00:33:08.600 there like getting a little bit at a time over a long span of time and just keep on grabbing and
00:33:15.520 grab and it's like that's the guy that actually gets it that's the guy that gets it yeah yeah
00:33:20.760 i don't know yeah that onesie twosie thing over time is the whole idea of a food forest bro the
00:33:26.420 entire food forest is made of one day i planted five banana trees over there one day i planted
00:33:32.800 three persimmons in the back one day i planted two mulberries over there one day i planted all
00:33:37.320 the mexican sunflower for support species one day i planted all the clumping grasses for chop and
00:33:43.040 drop like what it's just it's like oh there's this whole farm of like food and stuff it's like
00:33:47.200 yeah but it was just a series of a couple hours here a couple hours there full day here full
00:33:51.720 weekend there but it you know just slowly but surely adds up it's like i think that's like
00:33:55.680 business ownership versus being employed somebody just gets what's like i i get what someone gives
00:34:02.200 me versus i go out and i actually make and then take my own stuff if that makes any sense here
00:34:07.960 you take your own stuff for sure i take a lot of my own stuff
00:34:10.980 again he was one of the four who sought the explanation of the Olivet prophecy he went
00:34:18.380 with Peter to prepare the upper room for the Passover at last we see him with the same two
00:34:23.200 Peter and his brother taken into Gethsemane and then presently following the Lord into the
00:34:28.140 judgment hall it is evident that while there he was watching Peter and saw him in the moment when
00:34:33.420 with a broken heart he went out into the night it is equally evident that he followed him and
00:34:38.480 took him to the shelter of his home.
00:34:40.520 Then he was at the cross, near enough for the Lord to address him directly
00:34:44.240 and commit to his care, his mother.
00:34:47.100 Beyond the cross, he is seen on the resurrection morning,
00:34:49.500 investigating the mystery of the empty tomb
00:34:51.260 and indeed apprehending the full meaning of what had happened
00:34:53.720 when he entered the tomb.
00:34:55.220 Then weary of waiting, he joined the company of those seven who went fishing
00:34:58.660 and was with Christ on the morning by the sea.
00:35:01.520 Yet later he is seen in the upper room.
00:35:03.520 After Pentecost, we have a glimpse of him at the beautiful gate with Peter.
00:35:06.980 Presently, he has seen going through Samaria, the very region where he had desired fire to be called down, preaching with Peter.
00:35:15.860 I think we just read that the other day where he goes to Samaria after Philip was doing his thing and Peter and John come there and lay hands and they receive the Holy Spirit.
00:35:22.080 That was the same region where he said, should I call fire out of heaven?
00:35:25.180 Yeah.
00:35:26.160 We have one other historic glimpse of him in the letter to the Galatians when Paul went to Jerusalem.
00:35:31.540 John was one of those who interviewed him.
00:35:33.900 At last, we see him in Patmos for the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
00:35:38.300 And necessarily, his name is also found, his name also is found upon one of the foundation
00:35:43.500 stones of the city of God.
00:35:46.180 Now, as we pass these incidents in rapid review and memory, that's rad how G. Kimmel Morgan
00:35:50.780 just lists the whole thing out, like everywhere he's found.
00:35:53.400 I cannot help feeling that he was a man who perhaps as a fisherman was out of place.
00:35:58.560 I know that feeling.
00:35:59.220 we might say that he was a dreamer, but we will change the word and say he was a mystic.
00:36:05.200 We may change that again and describe him as a seer and a poet. These very words, dreamer, mystic,
00:36:10.540 seer, poet, put him out of the realm of interest to multitudes of people. And yet we venture to
00:36:15.120 say that there is not one of the disciples of Jesus named in these gospel narratives
00:36:18.700 in whom the common multitude of Christian people are more profoundly interested than in John.
00:36:23.880 Isn't that interesting? He's saying you start talking about like mystics and poets and
00:36:29.020 Sears. And people are kind of like, yeah, I'd rather just watch the ball game. Yeah. You know,
00:36:33.500 there's not many people drawn to that, but in some way, like everyone's favorite book is
00:36:37.420 revelation. Yeah. And people are just drawn to John. Not everyone, but I don't know most people
00:36:41.780 years. John was a man who gained proof for himself by insight rather than by deduction.
00:36:47.180 I'm not suggesting that he undervalued deduction. His gospel would contradict any such view for
00:36:52.300 throughout it. He is massing evidence from which deductions may be made. Nevertheless, for himself,
00:36:58.080 I repeat that his proof came by insight. When we take up the first of the letters that bear his
00:37:03.200 name, we mark the mystical qualities characterizing them. That which was from the beginning, that which
00:37:08.900 we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we beheld and our hands handled
00:37:12.840 concerning the word of life, that which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you also. That's
00:37:17.960 from 1 John. I believe that's 1 John in the very beginning. Yes, he had seen, he had heard, he had
00:37:23.600 handled. But when he saw, he saw far more than others did. Yes, he had seen, he had heard, he
00:37:31.420 had handled. But when he saw, he saw far more than others did. When he heard, he heard what others
00:37:36.900 did not hear. When he handled, he became conscious of matters not patented to the common crowd.
00:37:42.340 John was a man who was ever looking for the invisible and seeing it, listening for the
00:37:46.900 inaudible and hearing it, feeling after the intangible and sensing it. Moreover, John was
00:37:52.940 a great lover, loving with ardor and force. The word love became the very keynote of his writings.
00:37:58.960 The energy of this love created his dynamic. He was capable of being intolerant, as his statement
00:38:04.040 concerning the forbidding of a man revealed. He might even be vengeful, as his desire to call down
00:38:09.040 fire proves. He was self-confident, as his request for position and power shows. This request was not
00:38:15.580 a desire for notoriety, but for the opportunity of the using of ability. Now we inquire as to
00:38:21.600 our lord's methods with this man like i'll say so he was inquiring not for notoriety he doesn't
00:38:28.200 care about other people but he was inquiring about the power the usage of that power right
00:38:33.280 he was saying like hey give me a it's like the guy who's on the bench and he's saying like hey
00:38:37.220 put me in coach let me let me get it's not i'm not trying to be a big shot but i want to help
00:38:41.140 the team yeah like i'm not i'm not here to sit on the bench like i want to help i want to get in
00:38:45.440 the game he's he's saying that's what john was doing when he said he wanted to sit at his right
00:38:50.360 hand or his left when his mom. It's not just like vain stuff that's like. No, it's like, hey, put me
00:38:54.800 in the game, which I can relate to that. The first time I read a Bible, I was like, I want in on this
00:38:59.620 story. Like, like clearly this story is not done. Like, like clearly if this story is accurate,
00:39:05.580 what's being told in the Bible, this story is still going. Your body is always giving you
00:39:10.760 signals. Whoop helps you understand them. Whoop is the wearable health and fitness coach that

00:39:39.460 i want to be in the story i don't care what it is you know i don't i don't care exactly what that
00:39:44.900 looks like, but I want to be part of the story. You know what I'm saying? It never crossed my
00:39:49.260 mind that I was like, okay, here's a Bible. I'm reading all this. My takeaway is now Christianity
00:39:55.680 is my religion. And I will go to a building one day a week to, you know, further my religion
00:40:02.240 called Christianity. Like I, that thought never crossed my mind. It was completely foreign to me.
00:40:06.820 Like my thought was, oh, okay, this is the story of life from God's perspective. I want to be part
00:40:13.040 of this story so clearly like i'm not i'm not looking at this like i'm going to be a spectator
00:40:17.840 to this religion i'm looking at this like i'm going to be part of this story i'm going to be
00:40:22.680 engaging in this story i'm going to do something in this it's all going to be this continuous story
00:40:27.260 and somehow by the grace of god i want to be in it does that make sense i feel like that's like
00:40:33.340 a rational view of the bible it's like oh okay this story is still going yeah it's i mean it's
00:40:40.340 a rational view of of your faith but uh do most people try to actually partake in it it's it's
00:40:48.660 like it's a bit of an abstract question right i don't know i i don't think they do but i don't
00:40:52.860 know why i think they think maybe because of the world you know they have the world kind of pushed
00:40:58.180 in on them that they're like yeah well i'm not i mean that's not my job my job is i work in a
00:41:03.220 coffee shop but there's a guy whose job it is to like have the microphone on sunday morning like
00:41:07.640 yeah that guy is part of the story but like i'm not i just work in a coffee shop but i i don't
00:41:12.900 think that's right thinking i think right thinking is like hey i'm i'm in this story yeah i want to
00:41:18.180 be in this story yeah you do work in a coffee shop but what could you do in that in that coffee shop
00:41:23.600 what can you do as that tool you know what i mean right hands in there pick something up and
00:41:28.380 ultimately it's like just saying here you go god do whatever you want like that's ultimately all
00:41:33.100 any of us can do. Okay. Now we inquire as to our Lord's methods with this man. I love that
00:41:41.560 that was all just a setup because this is what the whole book's about, right? Is how Jesus is
00:41:45.900 dealing with people. Now we inquire as to our Lord's methods with this man. So different from
00:41:50.320 his friend, Andrew, and also from Simeon. The first action was that taken when John was with
00:41:55.600 Andrew. He challenged him as he did Andrew as to what it was he was seeking. Remember when he said
00:42:01.980 to Andrew, what, what seek ye? And then, and then they say, where do you live at? Where do you stay
00:42:07.720 at? Or no, you weren't in on that last week. That's what he says to Andrew. Cause it's kind
00:42:12.260 of beautiful that he says, Hey, what seek ye? And G.K. Morgan's talking about like, he's asking all
00:42:17.940 of us that like anybody who's coming to Jesus, he's going to ask you, what are you doing here?
00:42:22.660 What are you, what are you seeking? You want to be cool in the culture? You think it's going to
00:42:26.940 be good for business. You want to make some more contacts and be a part of a cool, like country
00:42:30.660 club vibe but it's church people like what exactly is it you're trying to get here yeah that's what
00:42:35.640 he said to andrew and john he said what's seeking and then they say where do you where do you live
00:42:41.360 where are you staying at something to that extent and then they went home with them they said we
00:42:46.280 we actually this isn't like a one sentence conversation like we need to talk to you the
00:42:50.400 rest of the day and they go talk to him the rest of the day which is really intriguing
00:42:54.840 so he challenged him as he did andrew as to what it was he was seeking and then gave himself to
00:43:01.460 him for the rest of that day as we watch this man we can imagine how even then he was looking
00:43:06.740 for the invisible listening for the inaudible questing for the intangible there is a sense
00:43:11.460 in which that question of jesus was intensely poetic to this the answer to jesus had to have
00:43:17.040 been like i don't know what do you mean if you're seeking the inaudible you know you're listening
00:43:23.340 for the inaudible and you're trying to touch the intangible when jesus says hey what are you looking
00:43:28.040 for the answer is i don't know yeah i might have some clues i have this scripture you know we have
00:43:34.000 these prophecies of the messiah we have a general direction but i have no clue what i'm looking for
00:43:38.840 yeah could you tell me yeah i think that's a healthy place to be right i know i say that a
00:43:43.320 lot but it's like anybody today who has all the answers to all the things man who just says here's
00:43:48.680 my doctrine here's my theology like i can put it in a statement i can put it in a creed i can just
00:43:53.520 say a b c d e i don't know man i don't know that's kind of what i remember i told you when i uh when
00:43:59.880 i first started playing in the churches like that was the question that i asked these guys
00:44:03.640 i didn't even real i mean i didn't realize that it was like yeah you did i do remember you saying
00:44:08.700 that i was like what are you doing here i was happy to help with that process over the weekend
00:44:12.200 that was that was fun but but yeah it's like that is i don't know why what led me to ask that
00:44:19.320 question but it's it's a it's a great question yeah what are we doing here no it's like the
00:44:23.580 question yeah so it's the question like there should be if if i ever go to a 501c3 system
00:44:28.840 again i'm going to try to be the door greeter you know like the guy that shakes the hands
00:44:32.260 not like hey how you doing it's like what are you doing here yeah i love that as they walk in
00:44:37.600 you give them a track and you go what are you doing here i would love that that would be like
00:44:41.700 so fun man to just like talk to people like hey what are you doing yeah in general yeah like well
00:44:47.840 no just like oh your family was always christians you live in the south so you just do it or you
00:44:53.600 figured out you could make business connections here or any of the other things that could possibly
00:44:58.540 be dude he's jacked yeah he is jacked or like are you walk through are you just here are you like
00:45:03.720 curious for the kingdom of god like what yeah like what are you doing here and most people don't know
00:45:08.780 and that that might be okay too it would be it'd be a great conversation dude i might be the door
00:45:14.820 greeter you guys have a door greeter at your church i don't know probably hey guys are we
00:45:18.640 doing a show later no what's going on with this guy yeah we'll call later we'll call you don't
00:45:23.860 call us we call you all right i'll see you in a little bit later bye hey keep it up do a good
00:45:29.300 you keep it up that's gonna be the door greeter at the church i might find a church to do that at
00:45:36.060 yeah that's it's it's a great question and and you're always gonna get
00:45:41.440 like like befuddled no i don't know there might be some real ones dude i've got a feeling there
00:45:47.940 are a bunch of real ones if you ask me i listen i think i would consider myself sort of a real
00:45:52.220 you ask me what are you doing i'd be like no i think you might even be like that whole scenario
00:45:57.080 where you said you got a you got a minute yeah this may be more than one sentence answer oh yeah
00:46:01.520 yeah yeah because i gotta explain to you and i still don't know we're just i'm kind of like uh
00:46:05.760 feeling blindly for what i'm doing but i'm going in a certain direction what are any of us doing
00:46:09.600 here you know that's a fair question what is love all right that's enough okay there is a sense in
00:46:16.380 which that question of jesus was intensely poetic to this man john it would demand that he should
00:46:20.800 investigate himself and all those inner promptings and desires of his nature and reply to this word
00:46:27.060 of the Lord, this man, in common with his friend Andrew, immediately enrolled himself as a disciple
00:46:31.580 as he addressed Jesus as rabbi. The next words of Christ again had a fuller meaning for John,
00:46:38.180 come and you shall see. In this connection, it is interesting to turn over to the book of
00:46:43.020 Revelation, where there we read, the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show unto
00:46:49.300 his servants, even the things which must shortly come to pass. And he sent and signified it by his
00:46:54.140 angel unto his servant john who bear witness of the word of god and of the testimony of jesus
00:46:59.740 christ even of all things that he saw so that is intriguing that like jesus tells him in this first
00:47:06.460 encounter this early encounter come and you shall see and then in revelation he's telling them
00:47:12.620 uh the word of god and of the testimony of jesus christ even of all these things that he saw
00:47:17.600 Like Jesus did show him.
00:47:19.860 That's crazy, huh?
00:47:21.340 Here we have the same word.
00:47:23.680 John's the only, like, I think he's the only apostle that didn't die a brutal death, right?
00:47:27.840 Do you want to ask him what he's looking for?
00:47:29.240 Oh, I don't care.
00:47:30.120 He's just rummaging through.
00:47:32.580 Yeah, like a raccoon in a dumpster.
00:47:34.360 Yeah, very much so.
00:47:36.700 You okay?
00:47:36.920 Maybe if we find out what he's looking for, we can help him out.
00:47:39.300 Black rubber gloves?
00:47:41.120 There's no rubber gloves in here.
00:47:42.720 Remember we had them here?
00:47:43.820 No.
00:47:44.320 They might be in the back.
00:47:45.360 they'll probably why would anybody have rubber gloves here he's gonna do some weird stuff
00:47:49.960 enjoy your show enjoy your show enjoy your show see you soon i'll get all this cleaned up man i
00:47:57.160 got birthday presents from anchovy apostle i know how you get goodbye bye yeah john's the only one
00:48:04.380 that didn't get like flayed or cut in half or burned i mean we're dependent on church history
00:48:09.060 for that right so who knows in the end man who knows what you can trust outside the bible but
00:48:13.760 I've heard that, too, that, like, they tried to boil him in hot oil and he didn't die.
00:48:18.520 Oh, I haven't heard that.
00:48:19.900 I just heard that he, like, was old when he wrote the book of Revelation and then died after.
00:48:24.620 Who knows, dude?
00:48:25.840 But then there's this weird thing said by Jesus, which I think he's going to get into.
00:48:29.240 What is it to you if he tarries?
00:48:32.040 What is it to you if he tarries till I come back?
00:48:36.240 And then this rumor went around that John wasn't going to die.
00:48:39.940 Oh, interesting.
00:48:41.560 Yeah, we'll get into that.
00:48:42.620 We'll get into that.
00:48:44.660 Here we have the same word, the verb Ido, E-I-D-O, with reference to vision.
00:48:49.680 Said Jesus, come and you shall see at the very beginning of his ministry.
00:48:53.880 And in the last writings, he referred to the things that he saw.
00:48:57.580 Christ invited the seer to see, promised the questing soul of the poet that his quest should be answered.
00:49:03.720 And now in his old age, he says, I saw.
00:49:06.500 This word spoken to Andrew unquestionably had a differing interpretation for John, according to his own personality.
00:49:13.760 damn he invited this year to see is a a banger line i know but that's wild too he says this word
00:49:21.040 spoken to andrew unquestionably had a differing interpretation for john people do not like that
00:49:27.160 right people like no the bible is a cold dead textbook two plus two is four that's it two plus
00:49:33.620 three is five that's it and somebody says yeah but two times three is six no no no no no there's
00:49:38.640 one way to take this gk morgan says this word spoken to andrew unquestionably had a differing
00:49:44.340 interpretation for john your body is always giving you signals whoop helps you understand them whoop
00:49:50.760 is the wearable health and fitness coach that provides personalized insights until your sleep

00:50:17.880 is like the word of God, like speaks to us all in different ways, man. It's not just a cold dead
00:50:23.040 textbook that you just gather your doctrine and your theology from. And that way you can be right.
00:50:27.560 Other people can be wrong. There's nothing wrong with having right doctrine. We all have doctrine,
00:50:32.060 right like we all have our belief structure if you will with them doctrine theology eschatology
00:50:36.520 whatever i think there's yeah as i'm going through more of this there are like very thing
00:50:41.560 very specific things that we have to be have to be uh we can't budge on as far as doctrine goes
00:50:48.100 sure sure like jesus is god yeah amen these are things shout out to sparrow i know she has hold
00:50:54.000 ups on it but like like things like that or she's over that doubting the sovereignty of god like
00:50:59.000 there are certain doctrinal beliefs where i'm like once you start to stray from that you're way off
00:51:04.360 track other little things like i'm not gonna i can't argue with you people sure sure but but
00:51:09.400 more than that like reading the bible is about life yeah and so that's why like as you're reading
00:51:14.200 it some passages speak to your heart more than they do to somebody else you're the way you
00:51:19.240 interpret it the way you receive it is different than how other people interpret it or receive it
00:51:23.640 based on your life based on how you're going to apply it to your life this is why jesus was
00:51:27.800 speaking in parables as well i think to uh sure yeah keep the message like hidden from those who
00:51:33.980 didn't want to hear it but also to open it up in different ways for the way other people different
00:51:38.680 people hear it yeah two apostles right next to each other but they're fundamentally different
00:51:42.440 people like even in the parable of the sower where he says if you understand this you'll understand
00:51:46.220 all things it's like he says yes so a sower went out to sow some seed fell on the ground some fell
00:51:52.460 on like shallow ground uh with where it was rocky and so it rooted it didn't get eaten up by the
00:51:57.420 birds but didn't go very deep and others started to grow good but got choked out and then some fell
00:52:02.340 on like good soil yeah that passage in itself certain aspects of one of those four destinations
00:52:09.620 of the seed will speak to each person a little differently like like some people will say dude
00:52:14.980 i'm just like the one where the seed just fell on the ground the birds came and ate it some people
00:52:19.000 will go past that they'll say well no no i'm i don't really know man when i first got it i got
00:52:23.740 it. But man, it was, it has been really shallow in my heart. It didn't really take off. Do you
00:52:28.300 see what I'm saying? So it's not just cold dead doctrine. Like, okay, three plus three is six.
00:52:32.340 It's like, no, no, this speaks to everybody's heart, man. Like you identify with one of those
00:52:36.820 seeds, or maybe you identify in all four. Maybe all of us kind of have found a time where we
00:52:41.480 identified in all four of those seeds, but like, there's a takeaway for your life in the word of
00:52:46.260 God. It's not a cold dead textbook. And that's what G.K. Morgan saying, he's saying this word
00:52:50.260 spoken to Andrew unquestionably had a differing interpretation for John, according to his own
00:52:55.680 personality. Presently, we find our Lord calling this man to leave his fishing boats and his nets
00:53:01.660 in all the business of the common days. To him, in conjunction with Andrew, Simon, and James,
00:53:08.120 he said, I will make you to become fishers of men. This word, of course, applied to the four,
00:53:13.260 and it had a distinct reference to their callings in life. Our Lord making use of that calling
00:53:18.040 to illustrate on the higher level that which should be their business in the work of his
00:53:22.820 kingdom. For purposes of illustration, I may say that our Lord never said to me, I will make you
00:53:28.260 a fisher of men. This is G. Kim Morgan saying he never called me to be a fisher of men. In the year
00:53:33.520 1886, I sat at a teacher's desk. This is a great, it goes hard, man. In the year 1886, I sat at a
00:53:41.900 teacher's desk, loving my work, teaching boys. There came a day when Jesus passed me at the desk
00:53:46.800 and said, come after me and I will make you a teacher of men. I have no hesitation in making
00:53:51.820 that affirmation. He called for the consecration of a natural capacity to his business. That is
00:53:58.540 exactly what he did with John. He asked for the dedication of the skill and ability he had in his
00:54:03.480 earthly calling to the higher business of the kingdom, which he was bringing in. That goes
00:54:08.800 hard, dude. That's really this whole next study. This next straight Bible episode is like, don't
00:54:13.840 be anxious for these things don't be anxious like look at the birds they they neither uh sow nor
00:54:20.620 harvest nor store up god takes care of them he's like don't be anxious for those things but seek
00:54:27.000 the kingdom of god right like ultimately that's what he's getting at it's like hey take these
00:54:30.880 things that you have and that you do in the natural realm and apply it to something deeper
00:54:35.540 apply it to something more meaningful like you're a fisher of fish let's make you a fisher of men
00:54:40.320 you're a teacher of kids in a school to make you a teacher of men yeah what do you like it's it's
00:54:45.640 that question what are you looking for and if you go i don't know but this is what i can do
00:54:50.820 they'll find a use for you god will find a use for you to do something amen yeah but yeah when
00:54:56.860 i read that i was like yeah uh fisher a teacher of men i was like what a what a great line too
00:55:01.260 man this guy's just this guy should have been a rapper spitting bars he is but it's like this
00:55:07.200 thing we've got to we've got to be we've got to have like a hearing heart man we got to know
00:55:12.700 yeah what can i look at my life and see where god called me from this to this and g camel morgan
00:55:19.740 could yeah he loved his life he didn't he didn't say he was trying to get out of being a teacher
00:55:23.600 he loved it but then god called him to something greater presently john was among the number of
00:55:30.420 the 12 whom the lord called and set apart first to be with him and then to be sent forth it was
00:55:35.860 in this connection that he surnamed him and his brother Boanerges. We are all familiar with the
00:55:41.240 correct interpretation of Boanerges as sons of thunder. I think, however, we should not forget
00:55:45.960 that when our Lord spoke of these men in that way, he was referring to natural capacity,
00:55:51.000 unrealized and unfulfilled, but now to be realized and fulfilled. This is a big topic, dude.
00:55:59.000 This is a big topic. He's talking about their potential. Yes. Which is a thing when you deal,
00:56:04.560 like I feel like when you look at Jesus now he's dealing with people he's always dealing with them
00:56:08.940 in their full potential that's ultimately what it always is which sometimes can get you in trouble
00:56:16.520 if you're like a boss in a coffee shop you look upon people in their full potential and then you
00:56:21.760 let down yeah you see them as that and then it makes it a little complicated if you're a boss
00:56:28.480 and you have to keep order and you have to like keep the shop running but you're looking at people
00:56:33.020 and knowing they're capable of more.
00:56:34.740 And so you have that in you
00:56:35.840 when you're trying to correct people
00:56:37.140 and you have that in you
00:56:38.080 when you're trying to set expectations
00:56:40.220 and you have that in you
00:56:41.640 when you're trying to keep the boat moving.
00:56:45.760 And sometimes it's like,
00:56:47.200 yeah, but these people aren't at their full capacity.
00:56:49.900 They're not operating at their full potential.
00:56:52.700 It could be disheartening.
00:56:53.740 You want to help them get to that.
00:56:55.240 But you treat everybody like that.
00:56:56.640 You treat like the stranger when you're talking.
00:56:58.880 I was thinking about the disposition that you have
00:57:00.820 when you're talking about like,
00:57:01.900 like yeah yeah we're like all human beings like we're all like the same thing at the same time
00:57:05.940 on the same place in the same geographical location what a miracle that is it's like
00:57:10.240 why shouldn't we talk and it's like in a sense you're looking at somebody's you're looking at
00:57:14.980 their potential yeah and i see it too but then there is the propensity for that potential to be
00:57:20.120 and it's like almost 100 of the time to be like squandered or like you're not yeah but if you can
00:57:26.000 help somebody on that journey to get to that destiny that god's created for them and to get
00:57:30.800 to that full potential of character that god has for them that's like a great thing but it can be
00:57:35.900 sucky for you in that process yeah jesus jesus could do that like i know like i'm like i can't
00:57:41.160 there's so many people that you look and you're like i can't help you there's nothing i can do
00:57:44.860 to help you like i i understand the potential here and and in a way it's like it drags me down
00:57:49.600 so that's why i'd rather not even yeah well in a business it's a matter of like like you say
00:57:54.260 next shooter like you're like you're not stepping up and doing what you got to do next shooter
00:57:57.960 but then as a man like as a businessman that's the right thing but then as a man of god it's like
00:58:03.300 no let me try to cultivate this a little more and then you have to try to figure out at what
00:58:07.520 point do you throw in the towel and say okay i've done everything i can i'm trying to help
00:58:10.920 that might also help cultivate that person yeah the finally saying hey enough yeah yeah you're
00:58:16.780 right you're right all right he had uh unfulfilled but now to be realized and fulfilled he had
00:58:21.960 surnamed simon rock the one thing which at the moment he was not we talk about this a lot
00:58:27.780 mm-hmm peter in this story is not a rock like that like that you called him satan like a couple
00:58:35.040 verses after that that's the story of peter dude like he is not a rock but he will be but jesus
00:58:41.020 calls him that yeah but the one thing he was capable of becoming simon rock the one thing
00:58:48.280 which at the moment he was not but the one thing he was capable of becoming if a true principle
00:58:53.780 were found and applied. So with John and his brother, there were within them dynamic forces
00:58:59.040 revealed in the stories we have already considered in the action of John. And our Lord now used the
00:59:03.840 descriptive name as intended to show that there should be a fulfillment of that natural capacity.
00:59:09.700 I mean, that's ultimately what God's doing, right? It's just cultivating us into that full capacity
00:59:13.840 for his purposes. This can get real tricky though, man. I've been reading a lot more about
00:59:22.800 some of these like weird mega churches like the elevation hill song all these guys they they get
00:59:27.760 real close to uh a kabbalistic mysticism where they're where you're proclaim like like you're
00:59:34.140 manifesting a thing and this is so close to that where it's like your potential your your destiny
00:59:40.260 is right there and it's like it's it's cool but i think the difference here is that
00:59:46.420 and again slightly off topic but makes sense when you frame it and it's important to frame it this
00:59:53.140 way these guys are talking about like becoming or fulfilling the person that you're supposed to be
00:59:59.140 but never asking if it's in god's will kind of taking it into their own hands yeah trying to
01:00:05.260 cultivate people into what they want them to be right yeah but the sermon on the mount is like
01:00:09.060 it's points back to like the will of the father constantly yeah and that part is missing in that
01:00:14.520 doctrine in that part of the church, but like it's snuck in there and the congregation hears it and
01:00:21.060 it's in some of the music too. You're right. You're right. I mean, this is the, this, I mean,
01:00:24.980 I know I say it a lot, but like the job of a dad or a pastor or a boss is to create an environment
01:00:32.420 where those that he's responsible for can thrive. Right. And what is thriving? It's guiding them
01:00:38.920 into that destiny that God's created for them, helping them find their way, helping them cultivate
01:00:43.560 their character but if you take out that uh your body is always giving you signals whoop helps you

01:01:16.700 The will of God here.
01:01:17.960 And just make it, how can you benefit me?
01:01:20.020 What's your destiny, Matt?
01:01:21.440 Drugs?
01:01:21.940 I can be a guy that gives you drugs.
01:01:23.820 Right, right, right.
01:01:24.460 That'll be your destiny.
01:01:25.460 But that's not the will of God.
01:01:26.780 So it's like, if you take that part out of it, man,
01:01:29.000 it's like you're detrimentally on the wrong track.
01:01:32.080 And I feel like that, I don't feel like that,
01:01:34.100 that is what's happening with some of these things.
01:01:35.840 But you see like that fine definition there.
01:01:37.680 Yeah, it just comes back to something we said in Jude a long time ago.
01:01:40.020 Like the difference between an apostate and a true man of God is an apostate will sacrifice the good of the people for personal gain.
01:01:47.700 Like the man of God will sacrifice personal gain for the good of the people.
01:01:51.180 Like that's ultimately the big difference, man, is like the wolves in sheep clothing.
01:01:56.100 What what better description?
01:01:57.840 They'll sacrifice the good of the people for their own gain.
01:02:01.500 Yeah. Right. But you see the man of God, he's sacrificing and losing his own personal gain for the good of the people.
01:02:07.600 that's part of the game if you're going to be called into that role you're talking about is
01:02:12.360 like people who have this system or this business and they're trying to cultivate people in the best
01:02:16.920 thing that they can get out of them yeah i mean yeah yeah and it's and it's not always god it's
01:02:24.280 not god's will right a lot of the time like that's that's like i think david nails that all the time
01:02:28.420 he's like we he goes well if i'm doing something i i gotta remember to include god in that because
01:02:33.840 we just do stuff we do what we want all the time and you really do you can go pretty far doing what
01:02:39.120 you want but if it's not including god then now you're now you're dabbling in that weird space
01:02:43.100 but these guys here are obviously on the they're on the right track where they they have a specific
01:02:48.240 destiny and they're dealing right in front of god and he's going to tell them he's telling he's
01:02:53.240 seeing their potential and helping them fulfill what they're actually supposed to do or be
01:02:57.280 continue yes sir now as we have seen in the story of john there came three special hours
01:03:05.060 when in association with two others his brother and peter he was with the lord when the rest of
01:03:11.540 the 12 were not present in the house of jairus raising his daughter at the mount of transfiguration
01:03:16.880 and finally in the garden of gethsemane perhaps one may not be dogmatic as to the reason why
01:03:22.080 these three men were taken by the Lord on these three occasions. Personally, I do not for a moment
01:03:27.620 believe that they were so taken because they were favorite disciples. I rather believe that they
01:03:34.300 were taken to places of special revealing because of dynamic weaknesses within them. If we take the
01:03:40.580 central one of the three occasions, that of the transfiguration, let it not be forgotten that he
01:03:45.640 left nine men in the valley. Now I submit it takes more trustworthiness to remain in the valley and
01:03:50.740 face the demon, then go to the mountain to the place of vision. Interesting take. Interesting
01:03:56.600 take by G. Kimmel Morgan. However, to return, John saw his Lord on these three occasions in
01:04:03.300 a special way. He saw him first as master of death as he laid his hand on the dead child and
01:04:08.040 said, Talitha Kumai. He saw him on the Mount of Transfiguration, metamorphosed the one man
01:04:14.720 who came to the realization of the fullest meaning of human nature and who might have left the
01:04:19.960 earthly scene without dying. He saw him then as the realizer of life at its highest. Then he saw
01:04:26.480 him in Gethsemane, this master of death, this realizer of life at its highest, dedicating
01:04:31.620 himself to death. Again, we have an account of three occasions upon which our Lord sharply
01:04:36.680 corrected him. He corrected his intolerance when he confessed it, as he said to him concerning
01:04:41.680 the man whom he had forbidden, forbid him not. This is Jesus rebuking John. Forbid him not,
01:04:47.700 For there is no man which shall do a mighty work in my name and be able to speak evil of me.
01:04:53.060 For he that is not against us is for us.
01:04:56.160 He was thus correcting his spirit, which was that of complete loyalty to the Lord.
01:05:00.720 So you're talking about earlier, but which conceived of his own position and that of his fellow apostles as being so important that anyone else doing anything in the name of Jesus, but not in association with them was to be forbidden.
01:05:14.160 What a word to the denominations, dude.
01:05:16.680 Yeah.
01:05:16.900 especially the ones who say there's only salvation through our system what a word man he thought he
01:05:23.840 was thus correcting his spirit which was that of complete loyalty to the lord right he was loyal
01:05:29.440 to the lord but which conceived of his own position and that of his fellow apostles as being so
01:05:35.080 important that anyone else doing anything in the name of jesus but not in association with them
01:05:40.820 was to be forbidden what a word man it's a it's a body dude the body is vast toenails don't look
01:05:48.640 like elbows and elbows don't look like eyeballs and eyeballs don't look like lungs and lungs don't
01:05:53.300 look like hearts and hearts don't look like fingers and you know what i mean like the body
01:05:57.540 of christ is the body of christ and it looks different right it's all the thing it all has
01:06:01.900 in common is love like that's how he said all men will know you're my disciples by love but like we
01:06:06.640 look different. We operate different. We're all part of that same body. He sharply rebuked him
01:06:12.760 also when he manifested the vengeful spirit that would feign call down fire out of heaven.
01:06:17.340 Again, the action of John was that of loyalty to his Lord, but it was manifesting itself in an evil
01:06:22.740 spirit. The Lord said in view of this fact, you know not what manner of spirit you are of.
01:06:29.840 Having said this, he gave John an example of the true spirit as he quietly passed on his way
01:06:34.240 without any manifestation of recrimination or action of revenge.
01:06:38.600 Once more, he rebuked his self-confidence very beautifully and very tenderly,
01:06:42.480 but nonetheless definitely when he and his brother sought positions of power.
01:06:46.700 Said Jesus, are you able to drink the cup that I drink
01:06:49.260 or to be baptized with the baptism that I'm baptized with?
01:06:52.200 And then amazingly, they replied, we are able.
01:06:54.840 He did not deny it.
01:06:56.120 When he's talking about that, he's not talking about the baptism from John the Baptist.
01:07:00.820 Is he talking about what it's about to happen to him?
01:07:04.240 yeah there's a lot wrapped up in that it's definitely not talking about the baptism of
01:07:08.100 john the baptist because interestingly they they were disciples of john john was so they would
01:07:12.920 already been baptized by him and so he's not talking about that he's saying are you able to
01:07:16.540 drink the cup that i drink or to be baptized with the baptism that i'm baptized with i think that's
01:07:20.800 just that suffering of the cross that he's about to go through that submersion right it's that cup
01:07:25.100 that he has submersion right he's he's i mean he basically is uh the submersion for him is down
01:07:32.000 into hell like that's where he goes for three days right like he's in the earth he's saying are you
01:07:36.000 guys able to do that and they don't but they don't know what he's talking about but it's interesting
01:07:39.400 they say we are able and he didn't deny it but admitted them to that fellowship and told them
01:07:43.800 that they should drink that cup and be baptized with that baptism you know and then also other
01:07:47.940 places speaking of a baptism of the holy spirit and fire he's saying like yeah you're going to
01:07:52.360 get a part in that you know the same way jesus was baptized in the holy spirit uh when he's
01:07:57.920 baptized in water by john the baptist and the holy spirit descends and remains
01:08:01.920 john and and uh john and james who are talking to him right there they're baptized in the holy
01:08:06.920 spirit later too do you think uh that's probably a separate point when we're doing communion and
01:08:13.480 they they go you know take this cup and drink in remembrance of me when when we're talking about
01:08:18.460 the cup there uh it it's it reminds me of like you know jesus's prayer in the garden where he's
01:08:24.800 Like if, if you can pass, if I can pass this cup, like what is that?
01:08:29.280 Is that cup?
01:08:29.860 Does that cup signify suffering?
01:08:31.880 So you're saying like when we take the cup in communion, we're signing up for suffering too.
01:08:37.140 Yeah.
01:08:38.600 Yeah.
01:08:39.180 Yeah.
01:08:39.480 We're saying to the death.
01:08:40.720 It's, I mean, it's like, we're saying like, Hey, like communion is saying like, I'm with
01:08:44.820 you to the death, Lord.
01:08:46.580 It's like, but then it's like, it's weird.
01:08:48.320 Cause it's, it's the wording is tricky.
01:08:50.720 Like do this in remembrance of me.
01:08:52.400 It's like, like, we're remembering.
01:08:53.360 Are we just remembering?
01:08:54.800 or is i mean i wouldn't say just that's a big thing dude yeah it's like you're gonna be on
01:09:00.060 the earth and you're gonna walk this out till you're 120 years old like don't lose sight of
01:09:04.900 what you're doing here you know like we're doing talking about lately like what are you doing here
01:09:08.420 do this in memory of me in memory of me don't forget this yeah i mean how many times you tell
01:09:15.200 israel like coming out of egypt remember like remember what i did don't don't lose sight of
01:09:19.940 like what i brought you out of that's a big deal that's a big deal dude because all of a sudden
01:09:25.580 you can end up with a nice little life and you got a wife and kids and the money's okay and you
01:09:30.300 got a nice little farm and everything's good and all of a sudden you forget like where you came
01:09:34.300 from you forget like what you've been saved out of and i think it does matter that he says do this
01:09:39.260 in memory of me like remember this whole story before they give you that uh uh whatever the
01:09:45.460 sacraments or whatever you want to call them for communion it should be it's that question there
01:09:50.240 that he's posing to to john where he's like do you think you think you can do this yeah you're
01:09:55.900 right they should bring that up yeah before you before they give it to you be like do you think
01:09:59.360 you can do this but no matter what they should be bringing up the one corinthians is it chapter 11
01:10:03.560 where he says you guys are taking this unworthy and people are sick and dead among you because
01:10:07.400 of that like this is not playtime they almost never say that you're taking the body and blood
01:10:13.700 of christ this is not playtime it's heavy it's heavy man that's the problem you start getting
01:10:20.380 these gk1 morgan sermons it goes too deep dude it does bro people are like no we just want to hear
01:10:26.200 like sweet things and do the sweet songs and i want to come out feeling good and refreshed with
01:10:31.420 like happy stuff which i don't know i come out of this being refreshed it just hits harder
01:10:36.200 you're a masochist i don't know what that means but i would guess you are if you call me that
01:10:42.380 Okay, he did not deny it, but admitted them to that fellowship and told them that they should drink that cup and be baptized with that baptism.
01:10:48.100 That day, he revealed to John that the weight of the position of power in his kingdom was the way of the cross, of the passion, baptism, of suffering, and of sacrifice.
01:10:57.020 So that kind of answers what we're talking about.
01:10:58.860 They had a good way to travel before they arrived, but what is noticeable is that he did not sharply rebuke them, but revealed to them the secrets of the power they sought.
01:11:06.160 finally in watching our lord's dealing with john we are impressed with the wonderful confidence
01:11:12.040 which jesus which jesus had in him we have two illustrations of this fact one which moves upon
01:11:19.520 a very simple level and is yet sublime and one which is wholly sublime the first was that he
01:11:24.420 trusted his mother to his care your body is always giving you signals whoop helps you understand them

01:11:57.300 That in itself is full of suggestiveness as to the character of John.
01:12:02.380 The other is wholly sublime.
01:12:04.000 When God authorized his son to send to his bond servants a revelation of himself in glory and grace and government, this was the man he chose.
01:12:13.320 He sent and signified it by his angel to his servant John.
01:12:17.020 This is we have already seen.
01:12:18.560 John is careful at the beginning of the book to tell us.
01:12:21.460 As we thus pass over, that's what he's saying.
01:12:23.020 like it's incredible that he trusted john with taking care of his own mother it's incredible
01:12:28.820 that he trusted john with the revelation vision to pass on to the church forever like it's
01:12:35.480 staggering this book is this book is incredible because as you go chapter by chapter it's going
01:12:41.320 to bring out characteristics and uh like more like the importance of these dudes that were around
01:12:46.680 him the disciples like you know it's like i don't know not up until recently have i given much more
01:12:52.420 thought to like just how special these dudes were individually yeah but i don't think any human
01:12:59.700 today is less special than them dude no that they're humans today are all shades of these guys
01:13:05.060 like you have like parts and and personal characteristics of of all of these people i
01:13:10.740 think the job here is to find where that like where some of that where some of them are in you
01:13:16.500 here and g camel morgan does a great job of yeah but also laying this out ultimately it's like
01:13:22.180 just submitting yourself over to god to let him bring you to your full potential like that's all
01:13:27.620 it is dude any of these so like like we say oh man he trusted john with his mother he trusted
01:13:32.500 john with the vision on the island of patmos like yeah that was only because john had submitted and
01:13:37.780 cultivated the character of god in his life it wasn't because john you know had some great
01:13:42.340 Like, I don't know. I feel like all humans are born with great destiny, but it's like, who satisfies that destiny? Who fulfills it? It's the one who surrenders to God.
01:13:50.260 Sure. That's the underlying theme here. But like, like this dude, he's dissecting it in such a way where when you do ask somebody, like, what are you doing? And you go, well, I'm not sure. Like, it's, the vision is kind of blurry. If you read this and you kind of go through it, it clears up a lot of, it should clear up for me, at least, like, as we were going through it.
01:14:08.540 like, well, what are you doing? It's like, okay, it's becoming a little bit more clear because I'm
01:14:12.980 seeing all the examples of what happens here when you do this underlying theme.
01:14:17.500 Yeah, that's ultimately what we're hoping for everybody is you read these stories of how the
01:14:22.760 physician deals with individuals, right? And is in his own unique way with each person. And then
01:14:28.740 hopefully by doing that, we're going to say, yeah, how's he dealing with me? Yeah. Like,
01:14:33.640 like I see how he's unique dealing with, with each individual. I want to start to be more aware of
01:14:38.840 like what he's doing and how he's dealing with me. And I want to be more paying attention to
01:14:43.740 how he's dealing with my wife. How's he dealing with my daughter? How's he dealing with my son?
01:14:47.040 Like, how's he dealing with anybody in my sphere? I want to be aware of that. I don't want to screw
01:14:50.780 it up. Like if God's dealing with you in a certain way, I don't want to get in the middle of it and
01:14:54.460 screw it up. Right. We have to be mindful of that. Or like with an employee here, like, do I want to
01:14:59.220 get in the middle of what God's doing. If he's trying to, you know, correct them or speak to
01:15:04.060 them or guide them or help them, I don't want to screw that up in any way. We have to be mindful
01:15:08.320 of that, dude. Like in the church, we have to be mindful of like how many people do walk away from
01:15:14.320 the 501c3 system because they've been like so-called church hurt or like the pastor did
01:15:18.640 something shady or what it's like, dude, you don't want to be somebody who like screwed up what God
01:15:23.200 was doing with somebody else. You don't want to do that. That could also be your path, man.
01:15:27.640 that could be you know like if you had to fire that employee that's what that employee needs
01:15:32.820 to do right there that's what needs to happen to them right there for the rest of their life
01:15:36.900 i wouldn't change i wouldn't change what what's happened to me you know that that 10 years of
01:15:42.420 being out of it being going through the nonsense and then figuring it out i don't know if i figured
01:15:48.420 it out but like coming back to a better understanding i wouldn't change that yeah
01:15:53.960 No, thank God for the path.
01:15:55.640 Yeah.
01:15:57.000 You know what I mean?
01:15:58.240 Like, thank God for the path.
01:15:59.820 Yeah, so good people are screwing up.
01:16:04.460 As we thus pass over the record of our Lord's dealings with John,
01:16:08.560 we come to that final page, that postscript to his gospel.
01:16:12.440 Peter was still not understanding John.
01:16:15.300 After his conversation with Jesus,
01:16:17.700 in which following the miraculous draft of fishes,
01:16:20.880 he had challenged his love, given him his work,
01:16:23.760 told him that he must go by the way of the cross,
01:16:26.900 Peter had looked at John and said,
01:16:28.660 Lord, what shall this man do?
01:16:30.840 Isn't that wild?
01:16:33.340 Sharply rebuking the interfering spirit of Peter,
01:16:36.380 he uttered words which are of the very essence of poetry,
01:16:40.020 undoubtedly understood of John more than of any other.
01:16:43.540 So he's saying John would have understood this next statement
01:16:45.700 more than anybody else,
01:16:47.260 because other people got mixed up.
01:16:49.480 If I will that he tarry till I come,
01:16:51.520 what is that to thee?
01:16:52.740 That's what he says to Peter.
01:16:53.760 which i don't know dude sometimes i read that and um i'm like well it's kind of deeper than that
01:16:59.880 dude like like jesus tells peter like hey when you're young you're going to be able to go about
01:17:03.720 in freedom but when you get old when you die you're going to be in chains something to that
01:17:07.640 extent like you're not able to go wherever you want and it says like this he was telling peter
01:17:12.380 how he was going to die and so i don't know if like peter was just like well will john be with
01:17:18.400 me you know i don't know like that's heavy to me if that's what he was saying if he would you know
01:17:23.220 i don't know but it's like he says you're gonna you're gonna be like in prison if you will and
01:17:29.380 you're gonna die in this way and i think it's crazy if peter's like well john will at least
01:17:33.640 be with me right but i don't know i think no i don't you know i don't know i think people will
01:17:38.560 i don't know i think it's so easy for us to just be like oh he's like you know making excuses or
01:17:44.040 he's trying to trying to cast it on somebody else like yeah maybe maybe you want your boy with you
01:17:49.720 Yeah. Maybe he's like, dude, if I'm going to die like that, I'm not going to have you like, can I at least have John with me?
01:17:55.440 I don't know, man. But John and his narrative is careful to point out at this point that those hearing it did not understand it.
01:18:02.960 So he's saying, I think John may have understood this more than the crowd, but the crowd did not understand it.
01:18:08.000 And consequently, a legend went out that John was not to die.
01:18:12.340 This misapprehension, John, who understood, corrected as he wrote, Jesus said not to him that he should not die.
01:18:19.720 But if I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
01:18:23.820 So I don't know.
01:18:24.840 He kind of said, he's not saying I'm not going to die.
01:18:28.440 But he's kind of not saying it either.
01:18:30.660 That's a wild one, man.
01:18:32.480 That's a wild one.
01:18:33.680 I know people don't like that.
01:18:34.700 But it's kind of mysterious.
01:18:36.140 He didn't just straight up correct it and say, John's definitely going to die before he comes back.
01:18:40.940 He didn't say that.
01:18:42.020 Yeah, yeah.
01:18:43.080 So some people think he's John the Apostle.
01:18:45.620 Oh, boy, this is getting into little season stuff, too.
01:18:47.760 We're not doing that.
01:18:48.320 No, no, no.
01:18:48.600 He's like living in a cave in Tibet somewhere, man.
01:18:50.820 Like he's just walking the earth, dude.
01:18:52.240 He didn't die.
01:18:53.460 That's crazy.
01:18:54.200 Who knows?
01:18:54.780 And then some say that's why he's able to be one of the witnesses.
01:18:59.380 Because John and Daniel both kind of see somebody in their,
01:19:03.380 in their visions, you know, like, did they see each other?
01:19:07.180 Maybe.
01:19:07.760 No, that's too much.
01:19:08.680 That's too much.
01:19:10.500 Let's stick with the game plan.
01:19:12.820 Jesus said not to him that he should not die.
01:19:15.140 But if I will, that he tarry till I come.
01:19:16.940 What is that to thee?
01:19:17.620 thus he made no attempt to explain the poetic reference but simply corrected the misapprehension
01:19:22.560 john had heard the voice of his lord speaking to peter concerning himself and he realized that
01:19:27.360 whoever might misunderstand him his lord did not thus all through the history we see jesus dealing
01:19:33.720 with this man this seer this poet removing from him the elements that blinded clearing the atmosphere
01:19:39.100 bringing the confused into focus interpreting to him the deepest things because he was ever a
01:19:44.760 questing soul that's so big man that to be a man on a quest he was ever a questing soul you know
01:19:51.940 like if you used to play legend of zelda on the weekend and you kind of just felt like you were
01:19:55.700 in it like you were in the story and you were on a quest right like we should be able to look at
01:20:00.900 our life like that like like we're on this quest man it's not i'm not going to get sucked into the
01:20:05.340 monotony i'm not going to get sucked into the whole punch in punch out mow the lawn wash the
01:20:10.400 car. I'm not going to be this eagle stuck in a cage. I'm going to actually go hard. I'm going
01:20:14.400 to go. I'm going to be in a quest. I'm going to be seeking God. I'm going to be seeking whatever
01:20:18.480 he has for me in the 120 years that I'm down here. I'm just going to keep going. I'm going.
01:20:23.300 I'm not going to let the monotony of life bring me down. It's a crazy line. Yeah, he was a
01:20:27.640 seer. He was a guy that was looking to see, and then he showed him. Yeah. That's the whole point
01:20:33.600 of that, right? Amen. Using him at last for the interpretation of himself and his gospel,
01:20:38.800 which leads men to the profoundest facts concerning himself.
01:20:42.560 Hold on, I'm going to read that again.
01:20:43.980 Because he was ever a questing soul,
01:20:45.820 using him at last for the interpretation of himself and his gospel,
01:20:49.020 which leads men to the profoundest facts concerning himself,
01:20:52.340 and then commissioning him to be the writer of that literature
01:20:55.180 which unveils the Lord in his glory, his grace, and his government.
01:20:59.340 That's the John the Apostle, dude.
01:21:01.680 You think it was all right?
01:21:02.900 Yeah, I love that.
01:21:04.340 I love this series.
01:21:05.880 You do?
01:21:06.860 You do?
01:21:07.300 no i just didn't know it was like we were just kind of thinking of like what's a good way to
01:21:11.660 you know the whole library was built so that we could show people who these great men of god were
01:21:16.140 from previous uh time periods you know what i mean it's kind of exposed people to this type
01:21:22.220 of writing and this type of thinking and this type of view of the kingdom of god and of god
01:21:26.320 himself right and uh i don't know i i love doing this dude i got like i love showing people this
01:21:33.700 stuff. And people react great to it. People are like, wow, this hits hard, man. Like, this is
01:21:38.240 good. This is, you know, and ultimately what we want all of these things to do is to drive us
01:21:42.800 into a deeper relationship with God and realize like there is more. Cause I think maybe sometimes
01:21:47.260 in the human experience, you think like whatever I'm doing right now, that's as far as you can go.
01:21:52.760 I think we all have that with all the things, you know, in life, we kind of feel like, well,
01:21:58.080 if there was more, I would already have it. And it's like, that's very destructive, right? It's
01:22:02.620 like you read these great men of God
01:22:04.340 and they're pulling out all these stories of Jesus
01:22:06.900 and how he's dealing with people
01:22:08.040 and you're saying, maybe there's more for me.
01:22:10.200 You know, I want to go deeper.
01:22:11.700 I want to go into more stuff
01:22:13.280 and to be able to expose this to people
01:22:15.980 so that they can continue on that path
01:22:18.540 and they can keep being on the quest
01:22:20.140 and they can be really tying into
01:22:22.220 how Jesus is dealing directly with them.
01:22:24.200 I think that's really the goal here.
01:22:25.680 That's why I love these stories.
01:22:32.620 And they will do it again
01:22:36.620 The end is written in the book
01:22:40.620 In the pages they foresaw
