00:02:13.840the existing designs and then they're going to be gone a deep and veiny discount on these t-shirts

00:02:56.220to get 10 off of your tickets uh great guest today uh long time friend of the show friend since
00:03:02.860before the show yeah actually uh a friend of yours in a dire time of need yes apparently
00:03:09.020correctly um which i'd love to get into that story a little bit but before we even do that
00:03:13.660um thank you for coming chris welcome to the show before we get started let's tell everybody where
00:03:18.720they can find your work uh you can go to uh chris carr.substack.com that's uh k-a-r-r chris
00:03:25.520carr.substack.com that's where i write about film interesting people and i just uh penned my uh
00:03:31.880anarcho-christian manifesto to the top of the page and that is probably the most important
00:03:36.180thing i've ever written at least in my estimation yeah so that's where you can check me out and i'm
00:03:40.240also uh talking shit on twitter every once in a while uh chris carr 17 on it very interesting uh
00:03:45.120the the how is it phrased christian anarcho uh one more time run that by me uh i say anarcho-christian0.95
00:03:51.380but you can say christian anarchist anarchist christian it really doesn't matter the point
00:03:55.680is is that the political philosophy is anarchism and the belief structure is christianity
00:04:01.220are you uh are you friends with uh what's his name jacob winograd yes i'm very friendly with
00:04:08.180him yeah we we've interacted uh a couple of times yeah he's great okay yeah he's really good on this
00:04:12.780issue he's one of the first people that i heard bring up the term inocular christianity we haven't
00:04:17.260had haven't had him on uh but he's been my friend from like the libertarian days um sure sure a good
00:04:23.640sport i've said some crazy shit to him no you did that yeah that's why i laughed i was like yeah
00:04:33.000you kind of do that with everybody i i want to kind of hear this this story because i've heard0.58
00:04:37.600it from your perspective um but chris really helped out when it came to you losing an account
00:04:44.640i don't want to bury the lead at all and i know we have other things to get into but can we kind
00:04:48.240to talk about a little bit what what what caused you to lose your account top uh i was a slurs
00:04:54.660no oh no nothing like that i was actually talking smack to uh i think she was like the vp of x at
00:05:01.560the time i forget her name yeah yeah yeah i can't remember her name either but yeah yeah yeah and i
00:05:07.460had made a joke about launching her to the moon because of spacex haha very funny and they took
00:05:12.320that as an actionable threat i kind of forgot about this this is fucking hysterical
00:05:17.780that's a very mild thing launching launching her to the moon i mean uh linda yaccarino that's her0.94
00:05:23.580name there you go yeah that's a fun last name so um but obviously not actionable you lack the
00:05:30.900resources but if i could if you could sure sure yeah but i mean that's a lot of money and and so
00:05:36.180what happens x deletes your entire account or or bans your entire account yeah from all the things
00:05:41.120that i've said previously uh like they didn't really care but that one right there so i was
00:05:45.720like oh i have the actual eye of sauron on me here yeah i've gotten the attention of the lady from x
00:05:51.660and i think this was also after the interaction with elon musk that i had that that whole thing
00:05:56.820so like the algorithm has primed me to like show up in these people's feeds i suppose i said a
00:06:02.560thing got banned and you were writing for tim cast at the time or yeah yeah revolver or uh whatever
00:06:08.220i was the editor at tim cast and i was also writing articles as well and uh once i saw that
00:06:13.580happened i want to make sure that we covered it and got some more exposure to what was happening
00:06:16.480to you because that was insanely fucked up yeah and that i mean it was a couple of weeks that my
00:06:22.180account was gone and i don't know if the rest of this plays out like how we're doing it now if i0.94
00:06:26.980don't get that account back because it's like it's a big way of uh you know twitter is the way that
00:06:32.240you communicate with everybody yeah and your social media follower count means a lot when
00:06:38.240you're talking to people it adds veracity to your reputation and sure people pay attention if there's
00:06:43.280like a 50,000 behind your name rather than a 5,000. Yeah, because it imagines there's a body
00:06:47.920of work. So if you're just somebody who's reaching out, like let's say to even come on the show and
00:06:51.900it there's, you know, instances where people with low follower accounts get on the show.
00:06:56.400I don't have anything against that at all. It's just like if I'm going through the noise and
00:07:00.600you're reaching out to me and a bunch of other people are reaching out to me, if I can click on
00:07:03.740your profile real quick, see you've got like some sort of a reputable following thing, I go, okay,
00:07:08.240maybe there's a body of work here. Let's go check that out. It's just the beginning domino in
00:07:13.220the investigation process is this person somebody that i want to talk to that helps a lot unfortunately
00:07:18.060that's the truth yeah that's not like uh what i want it to be but that's just what it is so yeah
00:07:22.900it's the twitter account is gone but uh you guys helped get it back with that article you wrote
00:07:27.140the article and then i think vivek ramaswamy oh that's right and started commenting on it and
00:07:32.540there's another article written about him that like sort of compiled and it pressured the powers
00:07:37.540that be at twitter to give me my account back yeah which was just the craziest thing in the world
00:07:43.120rare instance i mean when did that ever happen well i mean stranger things have happened online
00:07:49.140like sure sure but i mean for for them to actually get pressured in that way and then give you your
00:07:55.240account back it's typically like it's why it's why i get so mad at the conspiracy community
00:07:59.720like today when they go must be fed activity or like this person's paid off i'm like sometimes
00:08:05.800there's a domino effect of things like you you push a domino i don't know let here's the domino
00:08:11.000effect i suppose i went on tim cast had a really bad performance but i bought t-shirts for the
00:08:15.900guys there and maybe they remembered me yeah okay yeah yeah yeah exactly yeah so then when something
00:08:22.720comes up like that like like i i don't know i didn't do it on purpose like i'm gonna go ahead
00:08:26.840and get banned later so that way they'll help me it's just like no i don't know we don't know
00:08:30.660what's gonna happen we've i've spread seed and whatever happens whatever grows grows he went to
00:08:35.640his thing and spread seed no i remember that broadcast very clearly tim was hung up on
00:08:44.700steven crowder's contract in that broadcast and that's all he talked about it was all about the
00:08:49.880contract with steven crowder and you didn't really have much of a chance to uh weigh in on news items
00:08:56.080or anything else it's all about the contract and initially we did not get along you you after the
00:09:03.020show you talk some shit about tim and i was defending tim and then you know and i didn't0.57
00:09:07.760realize who you were i didn't realize how rabid your fan base was and how vicious and hilarious1.00
00:09:12.840you guys are and i was just like who is who's top lobster you know i was talking so much shit0.91
00:09:17.580and then our mutual dear friend shane cashman intervened and he stepped in he was just like0.92
00:09:22.780listen i don't want my homies to beef i like top i love you i've been shane's editor you know the
00:09:27.800whole time he was at tim cast and and i think i messaged you and i said i think we got off on the
00:09:32.260wrong foot and uh we've been cool ever since so uh b i remember that that uh that that appearance
00:09:38.600very well it's it's almost a shame that things went that way because um you know we give him
00:09:44.880a hard time you more so than i do uh uh tim but uh you know he's got this giant thing that he's
00:09:50.240building and it's just to say the people that are surrounding him like i i enjoy so many of
00:09:56.180those people you know you mentioned shane cashman he's one of my favorite people yeah
00:09:59.200you Bert West Josie the red-headed libertarian like all these people everybody around him I'm
00:10:04.620like this guy probably is all right in some way shape or form but when you see him even Luke like
00:10:10.120Luke was cool like yeah but I think Tim is just like redlining it constantly and he's got all
00:10:16.840these insane external pressures and then when he gets out and he shows his public face there's so
00:10:22.560many things to pick at because you're dealing with a guy that's redlining it constantly it's
00:10:26.620just funny how that happens because a lot of my favorite people come from his orbit which is
00:10:31.420strange yeah well i mean i will say this just to get it out there and get it on the record uh
00:10:36.820my wife and i you know alex she was a shane's producer for a long time you guys did her show
00:10:41.720you know so you know alex we've worked for him for five years and he's been unbelievably kind
00:10:45.940to me and my family he's been good to my boys he's been good to her he's been incredible to me
00:10:49.940uh he's kept me employed even when he didn't have a reason to employ me so tim's been on a personal
00:10:54.520level tim's been very good to us so i can i can stand honestly in terms of being a good dude i
00:10:59.340didn't realize your wife was uh that was shane's producer on uh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
00:11:06.340small world that is what i oh i'm sorry go ahead chris i was just gonna say we've been together
00:11:11.480for 18 years so that's uh yeah long long-standing relationship got two boys four and six and uh
00:11:17.620she currently has her jaw broken which is really fun what did you do to her i've been warning her0.97
00:11:23.340for years i was just like listen one of these fucking days it's gonna happen and two weeks0.94
00:11:27.640ago it finally happened i busted her really hard and let me tell you chris the warnings mean nothing0.97
00:11:32.560if there's no action exactly i've learned okay that's what i've learned from raising boys yeah
00:11:37.200you can't you can't lay down a threat if you're not going to follow through on it that's right0.89
00:11:40.800that's right she had uh she's got a mouth problem and it's been uh eating at her her whole life and
00:11:45.740then a couple weeks ago she had it surgically broken and uh she's recovering right now so
00:11:49.300oh okay yeah yeah a strategic one well that's good to hear i hope for her uh her speedy recovery0.73
00:11:53.940you know i i will say on the the topic of tim all the shit that we've talked about him i cannot
00:11:58.740avoid the fact that everybody that we know that knows him says the exact same thing that you just
00:12:04.920said which is in personal life he's a really good dude so i i think what you what you constantly
00:12:11.360catch is people fighting the public persona of tim which is not to say those aren't his
00:12:17.100convictions aren't his ideas. Well, in a way, isn't that what we did? You fought with top
00:12:21.000lops a little bit. Then you messaged me and I was like, you got to Danny and then Danny and Chris
00:12:27.180talked. So it's very much like that. But I want to get into your article. And I think a good place
00:12:33.680to, maybe we could start at the beginning. How long have you been a Christian? How did you get
00:12:39.440into Christianity? How did you hear about it? And what does that path look like? Because I have an
00:12:44.440idea of the pathway you came through. Um, but I'm curious to hear your side of this.
00:12:50.020Yeah. Um, I grew up in the very rural mountains of Eastern Kentucky, uh, Southeastern Kentucky.
00:12:55.600Um, and down there you really just have Baptist churches. That's, that's pretty much, there's
00:12:59.300some Methodists, there's some snake handlers. And I was actually briefly involved with a Messianic1.00
00:13:03.860Judaism, uh, cult, I would call it. Uh, but you know, yeah, we could totally get into that if you1.00
00:13:09.080want to, but I would love to. Yeah. Okay. Uh, but, um, these, I never had a good experience in
00:13:14.460church. Uh, I, our preachers, they would get up and they would read one Bible verse and they would
00:13:20.620scream and shout for an hour. And I left church every day with a fucking headache. Um, I mean,0.99
00:13:26.280I, there was a piece, there was a preacher that would regularly kick the altar and scream at us
00:13:30.480about hell and sin, horrible experience. Um, and basically it's just like, I realize now that
00:13:37.340churches always failed me, but Jesus never did. So my conviction and my, my faith in Christ never
00:13:42.020was dislodged from these horrific experiences in church. And like, I was in high school and I was
00:13:46.780just like, all right, I want to get back into church. I want to find a good church. And I was
00:13:49.060like, I got my girlfriend. I was like, Hey, come, come to this Bible study, you know? And then the
00:13:52.680youth pastor would try to steal my girlfriend from me. I mean, it was, it was, I mean, like,
00:13:57.600I'm telling you at a certain point, I realized that I'm never going to go to a church again.0.92
00:14:02.460it's just not for me these people are insane they're psychos the the the protestant churches0.99
00:14:08.240there's so much goofy shit in them and uh so that was it was like that for a while and then about0.99
00:14:14.620two years ago not this past easter but the easter before my wife's a jew alex is a jew0.99
00:14:18.780okay so she you know she was bought mitzvahed and you know she went to hebrew school hated
00:14:23.460every minute of it and then um the easter before last i'm i love movies i'm always trying to get
00:14:29.340my boys go to the movies and enjoy cinema and enjoy that experience of being in the dark with
00:14:33.440a, you know, with a crowd and watching something fun. And we went to see the Jesus movie, the
00:14:37.420angel studios, King of Kings, I think it's called the animated film. Yeah, it was really,
00:14:42.740it was really bad. Like it had a framing device where there was this dude. It was like, I think
00:14:46.920it was, uh, Charles Dickens is narrating it. I don't know. I lost interest, but the boys lost
00:14:52.320interest. They were a little young, but Alex was captivated. She was just like, can we just stay
00:14:56.740the crucifixion i think she just wanted to see him die um but but listen but so within within 24
00:15:05.680hours she was just like i think we need to get these kids educated in religion you know she's0.83
00:15:11.480a very crafty jew she wanted to outsource it you know she wanted to like send them off to learn0.89
00:15:14.720about the jesus and the god and the stuff and i was like no no we're gonna do this as a family0.95
00:15:18.220and we're gonna find a good church and we're gonna and this is gonna be what we do wait wait
00:15:23.240Chris, are you saying that the film had an impact on her to that degree?
00:15:28.240Because you're saying she's Jewish or is Jewish, was Jewish, but we're talking about – because the Jews don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah.0.76
00:15:36.220They're still waiting for the Moshiach.0.85
00:15:39.960What exactly are you saying happened there?
00:15:41.880Alex was raised by secular, liberal, Jewish family in Long Island, New York.0.98
00:15:49.520So, I mean, they're not like very devout Jews.
00:15:52.380They don't go to the temple or anything, but that was her background, and I'm pretty sure that the only thing that she knew about Jesus before we went to this movie was that he was a traitor.0.99
00:16:01.900So this movie, I suppose it activated something in her that got her interested in faith, and we began the very – with great trepidation, we began the process of finding a church, and we ran into a bunch of really goofy Protestant shit.0.99
00:16:17.900We ran into preachers that got up there and talked about their lesbian daughters and how great they are and how they just got married and their lesbian daughter has a wife.0.99
00:16:28.380It's crazy what's happened in the Protestant church.0.82
00:16:30.100As much as I've made a lot of peace with my Catholic brothers and sisters with the stuff that they believe and I don't.0.98
00:16:36.160But I will say this for the Catholics is that they do have a hierarchy that sort of safeguards against a lot of the goofy shit that's in the Protestant churches.0.99
00:17:11.040And Protestantism seems like it has tendencies to embrace leftist politics, or at least leftist ideologies, which lean it that way. Orthodox and Catholic would lean a little bit more right. And nowadays, it's interesting watching the Orthodox movement. And I don't know if there's really a Catholic movement, possibly, but it leans toward this, what do they call that?
00:17:35.920not a reformation but like a crusades idea this idea of a strong male and it does feel
00:17:42.320it has a tinge of like right-wing extremism to is it for lack of better words yeah unironically
00:17:47.940using like templar symbolism or like within their meme culture you know it's like yeah it's also
00:17:54.680correct i'm watching them going yeah you're positioned correctly to absorb disaffected
00:17:59.660libertarians uh right-wing people into this movement and that's correct but then the movement
00:18:05.260i go well what else is in it and why has uh why have why have pentecostals or uh protestants
00:18:12.860almost ignored that that uh that vacuum of power and they've kind of stood in this weird left-wing
00:18:20.700spot it almost seems like uh catholicism because i would say there is a catholicism movement i've
00:18:26.220seen it um not as much as orthodoxy but those two institutions have um been more plugged into the
00:18:33.420cultural dialogue on the internet where it seems like protestants are less plugged in in that way
00:18:39.140or at least as an institution they're less plugged in on an individual basis i'm sure everybody's
00:18:43.240plugged into the internet well not to offend but it's yeah those those two institutions will name
00:18:47.940the jew right and uh protestantism will fly an israeli flag in in the in the church itself
00:18:55.560completely unaware of what's happening politically and and culturally and culturally and it's just
00:19:01.060like i'm watching it happen i say whoa why are you why are you missing this yeah that's interesting
00:19:06.300well i've actually had the chance to talk to andrew wilson a number of occasions sorry you know
00:19:11.320i know i you know what i mean once again it's one of those things it's just like he has a certain
00:19:16.040i mean of course he's annoying i get that especially the way that he presents himself
00:19:20.660but i've had in my personal interactions with him he's been just like a guy that i can talk to
00:19:24.740And he did say something that framed Protestantism in a way that I didn't understand, but I think about it often.
00:19:33.040He was just like, well, Protestants are the original leftists because they're always protesting.
00:19:39.420So it's just like that might be a reason why Protestants are in some sense very annoying because we are constantly protesting the Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church.0.70
00:19:50.180And it's just like, yeah, I mean, what's more annoying than somebody that's just constantly protesting for centuries on end?0.71
00:19:56.200So if you're if you're constantly kind of situated as a protester, then maybe that's one reason why you're not as dialed in as some of these more institutional denominations are.
00:20:05.920It's interesting. Well, that's true. That's true. But then, I mean, more recently, I would say that the protesters are the Orthodox Church.
00:20:14.660The protesters are in the Catholic church.
00:20:16.380Because when I go to church, yeah, they might be praying for Israel,
00:20:20.740but there's never one mention about what they're doing in orthodoxy
00:20:24.040or what they're doing in Catholicism.0.99
00:20:31.840I was like, yo, they don't even, I'm just going to tell you from experience,1.00
00:20:35.220they don't think about you to the point where I've been in a Protestant church
00:20:38.200my whole life in some form or fashion, never once heard about your denomination.0.98
00:20:42.580nobody really even gave a shit like they're busy doing like yeah because because the focus is it's0.97
00:20:48.960not on icons it's not on you know uh the the painted windows the focus is on jesus yeah and0.98
00:20:57.460that's and that needs to be the focus and i think that these other denominations they lose that
00:21:01.980focus because they're going to be talking about all this other stuff you know they're going to
00:21:05.240be complaining and the one thing i will say about the protestant faith and it's a non-denomination
00:21:10.580church that I go to. And it, it, the focus is almost every time on Jesus. It's also on donuts
00:21:16.880too. They like to get us all sugared up and then, you know, do a phrase in worship, but, uh, it's
00:21:20.900always on Jesus and Jesus's words and Jesus's message. And I think that that's something that
00:21:25.780is sort of a, uh, short-sighted measure with the product, with the, uh, Catholics and the orthos.1.00
00:21:31.220I was made aware recently that, um, maybe it was in the eighties or nineties that as far as like0.99
00:21:36.780the church of Satan is concerned, or which covens are concerned, there was a real effort
00:21:44.620to infiltrate the Baptist church, because I think there was this concern, you know, on that side of
00:21:51.460the fence of a real resurgence happening through particularly the Baptist church. And when you
00:21:57.780think about the way that the adversary will sneak in and corrupt a thing, I think it's fascinating
00:22:04.560that there are these if we want to talk about satanic cultural elements a lot of those belong
00:22:10.080to the left side of the political spectrum or the cultural spectrum right with as far as the overt
00:22:14.160ones go where it's drag queen story hour and everything that we've kind of been wrestling
00:22:17.520with for the last decade or or more um so it's fascinating i think that you see those elements0.99
00:22:25.280coming into the protestant church and those elements do um deserve uh ridicule and and
00:22:31.840highlighting you know there's this idea when it comes to this dialogue excuse me on twitter that
00:22:37.880um you know it's just protestants versus uh orthodox or protestants versus catholics it's
00:22:44.380like no i'll call out my church too if i come across a video where i think something is overtly0.92
00:22:49.520gay and retarded i'm going to call that out it doesn't matter what church it's in um but i do0.91
00:22:54.560find it fascinating that those corrosive left-leaning and arguably satanic elements like0.99
00:22:59.620embracing you know lgbtq culture or what have you are finding their way and there are instances0.85
00:23:06.980where you see it in the catholic church but it's much more rampant in the protestant church
00:23:09.940and i wonder um because i agree with what you're saying chris it is hyper focused on jesus christ
00:23:15.360that's the message every time i've stepped my foot through uh the church that i was attending
00:23:20.280to up until recently um it was always that it's always that i think it's probably going to continue
00:23:25.180being that it's jesus christ centric and so is that just a fault of the protestant church or is
00:23:33.060it a fault of the protestant church that it is succumbing to these sort of satanic spiritual
00:23:39.960elements you know in other words in an attack is it not worth attacking orthodoxy and i know that's
00:23:47.100highly speculative right but is it not worth attacking orthodoxy is it not worth attacking
00:23:51.100Catholicism if they're not super Christ-centric like the Protestant churches? Is it a surprise
00:23:57.340at all that you would see these elements within it? You know, it's funny because, like, I've said
00:24:02.500some very, very hateful, spiteful things to Catholics, including Jack Posobiec. I've got
00:24:08.480into it with him before, and I've actually apologized because I felt like I was coming
00:24:12.560from a spiritually bankrupt place when I said that. And I think there's so much demonic activity
00:24:18.080in the world right now, as I believe we're approaching the end times, that if we can agree
00:24:23.980on John 3.16, then that's fine. Like, you know, if we can really agree on that core tenet of John
00:24:32.3803.16, then I don't really feel a need to argue with Josie. You know, I've had conversations
00:24:37.120with her, and she's had really great points to make about Catholicism and its strengths. I don't
00:24:42.300agree with all of them but i it as long as we can agree on that one key verse then i'm okay with0.98
00:24:49.120their goofy shit you know it's like i'm not going to do it that's not for me i'm not going to be an0.95
00:24:53.420orthodox guy i'm not going to be a catholic guy if i was raised catholic maybe i would be but i0.98
00:24:58.340wasn't you know and it's just it's not for me that is um the truth of the matter is it doesn't matter
00:25:04.360if it's the protestant church with the lesbian pastor which i've seen those as well or if it's
00:25:10.820a catholic church with um you know whatever the run-of-the-mill um sort of caricature issues that
00:25:17.940a catholic church might have are people are being saved in both institutions right like there's no
00:25:23.440limit to where god is working and so i mean i would say and there is a strong argument for
00:25:29.820all of the institutions are dead and rotting in their own unique ways but that doesn't stop
00:25:36.280God from calling people in those institutions and saving them, right? So it's the same thing.
00:25:42.860I would agree with that 100%. It's, you know, we get into it with the Orthodox Church a little
00:25:46.340bit because there are people that say, well, you're not Christian. You're not saved unless
00:25:50.980you're Christian, and you're not Christian unless you're baptized, and you're not baptized unless0.85
00:25:55.060it happened in an Orthodox Church. And you paid for it. And you paid for it. Right. And even that,0.98
00:25:59.880like, all right, I'll put up some slack on the some of the places aren't having you. Like,
00:26:04.240That's that's a funny thing to throw in their face. But still, at the end of the day, it seems to be universal across the board with Orthodox that you are not Christian unless you are baptized in specifically the one true church.
00:26:16.120And that's pretty problematic. Right. Because saying what people aren't saying and then they'll they'll go back and forth and say, well, people are saved.
00:26:22.040And what about the thief on the cross and all these things? And there's ways to kind of like word salad around that.
00:26:28.340But I think the truth of the matter is, yeah, if we can agree on John 3.16 and acknowledge that in every institution, those are fallen institutions.
00:26:36.560They're rotten in their own way, but people are still being saved in them.
00:26:45.920But, oh, my God, you just reminded me.
00:26:47.260the most infuriating debate that I've ever had the misfortune of listening to was Tim staged a0.69
00:26:53.540debate with Jay Dyer, some sort of Catholic guy that I can't remember his name and some Protestant
00:26:59.140guy. And I, you know, Tim, I don't want to speak for him, but I mean, after having a child and
00:27:04.560everything, he's, he's come around to the idea. He believes in God. Like, I mean, he knows that
00:27:08.160there's a God, but he hasn't quite moved to Christianity yet. I think he had a very bad
00:27:11.960experience growing up as a Catholic, which is pretty universal. A lot of Catholics have,
00:27:16.420Or, you know, they don't – I think the Catholic Church has driven a lot more people from God than to God, but that's perhaps a different subject.
00:27:23.340But Jay Dyer, he got on there with this Catholic guy.
00:27:25.920First of all, the Catholic guy kept talking about something called Christianity.
00:27:45.120I wanted to just jump in the studio and move that guy and be like, I could be a Protestant in this conversation because you guys aren't offering anything.0.99
00:27:50.700And Jay Dyer was such a fucking Pharisee in that conversation.0.99
00:28:34.820That too. But they lean on the idea of intellectual superiority.
00:28:38.300The reason I say socially is because a lot of these guys do have some sort of autism that doesn't, they're not charismatic.
00:28:43.860they're not charming they're not funny they're not interesting they're not fun it hasn't stopped
00:28:47.060me right well you've got a different type you know and and so what happens is when when you
00:28:54.120remove all of those elements that might be endearing to your character all that you have
00:28:58.660left is what you can build upon and it's hard to build on like charming and funny but it is
00:29:03.360easy to crunch information and then lean on intellectual superiority so i think that's
00:29:07.840really and and there is a huge problem paul talks about it this idea of um the simplicity of the
00:29:13.620gospel. And when you, your whole purpose is to make yourself seem intellectually superior and
00:29:20.780the way that you're doing it is with scripture, you're going in the opposite direction of the
00:29:24.580simplicity of the gospel. And now, you know, you talked about the Catholic church, maybe pushing
00:29:28.860more people away than it had brought to Christ. There's something to be said about as an individual,
00:29:33.780when you're making this thing seem so hyper complicated and that the bar for entry is so
00:29:39.720high you're doing something very similar to you cannot interpret the bible without me as your
00:29:44.780interpreter that's a huge right chris is this what you mean in your article when you're talking about
00:29:48.880the trojan horse of christianity and the trojan horse of anarchism like what is what's actually
00:29:54.520sneaking in is this are we getting at that idea here well christ said be as uh well first of all
00:30:00.460let me just preface it with this you guys on the podcast with the flat earth guy i know he doesn't
00:30:04.980want to be styled as a flat earth guy from kingdom in context oh yeah yeah great podcast i that was
00:30:10.780a little bit over my head but fascinating sean's a fantastic guy yeah and i think raven you brought
00:30:16.320up needing to have a scripture that is easy to understand you know you're talking about like
00:30:21.060there's all these different versions and stuff this is what i stand for the message it is written
00:30:26.500in plain modern day english this is the bible that i use all the time because there's no there's no
00:30:32.340confusion it is written in modern English it's so good Eugene Peterson check this out you can get
00:30:37.160on your phone and so when I reference any kind of verses I'm going to be referencing this really
00:30:42.320quick uh some of these guys the guys uh that I had the conversation with they were like oh he's a0.92
00:30:48.060KJV guy I get apparently there's people who are KJV only I guess Matt is kind of like that I can't0.96
00:30:53.340even understand it when I read like yeah I'm doing the straight bottles with him and I try to pick up0.52
00:30:58.280the scripture so that way when he's flipping to it i'm stumbling all over i read an nasb at home
00:31:04.060and uh it's good american standard it's a little probably a more a little bit more complicated than
00:31:09.860what you're reading but i understand it it's it speaks my language i'm like this is the one that
00:31:14.400i'm gonna do comprehension is the main thing at least for me you know and uh and actually the
00:31:19.320the catholics and the ortho bros they hate the message this this new you know modern style
00:31:24.180version of the scriptures. But there is zero chance for miscomprehension with this text.
00:31:30.140It's really well done. And actually, the guy that did it, he did his due diligence. He understood
00:31:34.340the Hebrew, he understood the Aramaic, he understood the Greek, and it's a very, very fair translation.
00:31:39.020By the way, just as a quick aside, I think the reason that they hate it is because it then makes0.65
00:31:43.540their institutions unnecessary. Which one do you love? Do you love your institution or do you love
00:31:49.120bringing people to jesus christ exactly if you can't answer that you know very quickly that
00:31:54.640you might want to pause and maybe stop influencing people on the matter yeah exactly uh so jesus said
00:32:02.540be as wise as snakes uh as cunning as snakes but innocent as doves and that's something i quote in
00:32:08.780the introduction to my manifesto um i think that politically disaffected people are very angry and
00:32:14.540they're enticed by the idea of anarchism, but they're not interested in Jesus. They're not
00:32:19.580interested in Christianity. They've been burned. They've seen a lot of fake and gay Christians1.00
00:32:24.220that have pushed them away from belief in Christ. But if you can entice them through anarchy,1.00
00:32:30.400then that path, if you follow it appropriately, can lead to Jesus. Now, on the other hand,
00:32:36.120there are a lot of Christians that are too busy with their faith and raising families and just0.51
00:32:40.680doing the day-to-day stuff that, you know, they have to do to survive. And they're not0.98
00:32:44.740concerned about how bad things are politically. And they just believe that voting is going to
00:32:52.000help and your vote counts and all of this fucking nonsense. So it's two Trojan horses. Anarchy can0.99
00:32:57.400lead to Christianity. And I think the Christians that never thought about anarchy and have a very0.99
00:33:01.620poor understanding of what it means as a political philosophy can be led to anarchy through those0.84
00:33:07.460two different trojan horses essentially right right yeah it's like so matt i would say matt
00:33:14.140is a guy that is politically inept in a way doesn't understand it but uh embraces the tenets
00:33:22.360of anarchy with you know but with god as a center point and he did it accidentally so he's gotten to
00:33:28.000that same sort of like you know having a food forest and being sovereign away from the government
00:33:32.340in a way, you get there through the Bible as well. That's great. That sounds good. Yeah. I mean,
00:33:39.960anarchism has dealt with a significant branding problem for a long time, you know, and it's
00:33:47.580because, you know, just, just kind of walk you guys through this, if I may, did you have another
00:33:51.300question or can I just, no, no, I, my, my next question was going to be if you could unpack even
00:33:55.840the concept of anarchism, but it's like, you're about to do that. Yeah. Um, so, uh, we kind of
00:34:02.040tend to think about politics on a spectrum, left and right, you know, Democrat, Republican,
00:34:06.820conservative, liberal. But despite all the differences on that one spectrum, everybody
00:34:12.280agrees that there has to be a leader, elected leader, chosen leader, appointed leader, whatever.
00:34:17.300Anarchism is a negation from that. It's a totally different spectrum. You can look at it like an
00:34:20.780inverted triangle. Okay. So at the top of that inverted triangle, you have, you know, left,
00:34:25.400right, that dichotomy. And in a narrow portion of that triangle, you have anarchism, which is
00:34:30.400is a negation of the idea that you need a leader now on that spectrum you have on one side you have
00:34:36.720the ancaps anarcho-capitalists they believe that you know capitalism can solve all of our problems
00:34:41.120which is insane and on the other side you have anarcho-communists as much as i learn about the
00:34:46.800anarcho-communist perspective i still it doesn't click with me it's very strange to think that
00:34:51.200there could be anarcho-communism but you could have communal living and i don't know it's it's
00:34:55.760very strange so i don't quite understand that but at the very tip of this inverted triangle you have
00:35:00.000anarcho-christianity which is basically it's just two tenets two basic tenets the first one is
00:35:05.520understandable the second one makes people very angry and every time i go on tim's show and i0.99
00:35:10.320talk about this the christians get so mad they they talk so much shit they have they have every0.97
00:35:15.840excuse in the world to negate the second point but the first point no king but christ christ is king0.99
00:35:22.080simple you pledge your allegiance to christ you cannot pledge your allegiance elsewhere
00:35:27.360not to your state, not to your country, not to the world, not to an elected or chosen leader.
00:35:33.060You can't even pledge your loyalty to your family in some regards, and Christ talks about that.
00:35:37.060If you love your life, you will lose it.
00:35:39.600You know, I'm a sword to rend, mother from father, you know, all that stuff.
00:35:44.160So the second point is something that I imagine you guys are really not going to like,1.00
00:35:48.680and it's something that makes Christians especially very angry.0.98
00:35:54.120Absolute non-resistance to evil by force.
00:35:57.360absolute non-resistance to evil by force. And it goes back to what Christ said. If somebody hits
00:36:04.920you, don't hit back. Stand there and take it. If somebody takes your shoes, put your best coat in
00:36:10.800a nice box, gift wrap it, and give it to them. You don't go to court. You don't call the police.
00:36:15.560You don't serve on a jury. You don't vote in a political election. You don't advocate for
00:36:20.220political leaders. It really just comes down to a very simple matter. It's just like,
00:36:24.880do you follow Christ or do you not? And of course, the problems there are significant, right? Because
00:36:29.480if you don't fight back, then you're putting yourself in severe danger.
00:36:33.980You're talking about the non-aggression principle, but from a Christian standpoint,0.94
00:36:39.900which is the problem. And this has been the problem with libertarianism that I've seen for0.71
00:36:44.820a long time. And I always bring it up to you. I'm like, well, libertarianism, all the tenets seem
00:36:48.260correct, but the underpinning is wrong. Like the thing that they don't get is God, God holding them
00:36:53.100down so the rest of their philosophy makes sense so when you're uh when your god is capitalism
00:36:58.300that's going to fail when your god is self or whatever it may be that's going to fail if you
00:37:04.060put god there like sorry the god then these things sort of work but yeah i i do personally have a
00:37:12.620problem with the strict uh adherence to the non-aggression principle because i think that
00:37:18.560there are times where we have to act in defense or aggression, maybe even preemptively. And COVID
00:37:26.600was one of those times that kind of opened that door up. Not to mean like we were supposed to go
00:37:31.020out there and be violent against the state, but like, I think we were supposed to preemptively
00:37:36.080take action rather than being passive and letting these things come and happen to us. But I'm open
00:37:41.940to being wrong. Yeah, no, I definitely want to hear about this. But I also want to say that my
00:37:45.600my issue with the um not using physical force to resist evil thing is that i don't as somebody who
00:37:53.740was um i was a mixed martial artist for the better part of a decade and i don't view violence in the
00:38:02.020same way that a lot of other people view violence it's um to get punched in the face or to get laid
00:38:08.540out on the ground uh it only becomes this this um let's say something that is equal with evil and
00:38:15.440i'm not saying that that's the problem with it even i understand what you're saying the problem
00:38:18.140is but it's when you go too far in fact i think that there are so many cases where if somebody
00:38:24.680who is armed with the knowledge of of combat could um use that to just stop a situation and
00:38:32.620subdue an individual then the worst thing that happens is the individual either takes a quick
00:38:37.320nap you know which is really not the the end of the world or really just gets hit in the face and
00:38:43.220stunned and i don't i don't think there's morality wrapped up in that so much in other words um
00:38:48.740if if i can be in a training situation and completely suspend the emotional morality
00:38:54.640aspect of it and just treat it as a competition i never feel as though i've been slighted or i've
00:38:59.920slighted another individual who's my opponent it's more of just it's almost like the equivalent
00:39:04.500of like dancing or something like that it's a sport um and so i think that there is maybe in
00:39:11.520there a line where like how are you resisting what degree are you willing to go to to resist
00:39:16.860that's an interesting question but as far as somebody let's say grabbing my child out in public
00:39:22.340um i don't i i think it's a choice to bring uh emotion into it if i deck you when you hit the
00:39:28.780ground and i go you're gonna stop now we good and they go yeah i'm good i go okay cool bye-bye i
00:39:34.200don't have to call the police i don't have to do anything so i i think there's even a conversation
00:39:38.600to be had there? Where is that? Where's that line when it comes to violence? Because I've detached
00:39:43.220myself pretty significantly from the emotional and moral aspect of violence. And I think like if I
00:39:49.920get into a combat situation with somebody, it's better for all parties if I win, because I'm not
00:39:54.680going to stomp you, I'm not going to stab you, I'm not going to hurt you beyond you yielding and be
00:39:59.240going, okay, cool, let's not do this again. No, I think that's a very cogent and well stated
00:40:05.360argument and i don't really have a problem with what you just said i would i would uh broadly
00:40:09.160agree with uh with your perception of this yeah yeah but you're talking about more are you talking
00:40:15.240more on like a state level because there are different types of violence like a violence the
00:40:19.880violence of hitting somebody in the street is not really comparable to dropping a bomb on an entire
00:40:24.540civilization right yeah not at all yeah and and that's why the the state has a monopoly on violence
00:40:29.940And they and they use that monopoly to try to indoctrinate its citizens into thinking that as long as they have the monopoly on violence, then you're going to be safe, which is a totally deranged perspective.
00:40:42.280And more people believe that than they should. Yeah, I mean, it's not comparable at all.
00:40:46.980I mean, if you just look at the hard numbers in the past 125 years, I mean, the mass amount of bloodshed has come from wars that nobody benefits from except for the states.
00:40:55.260So, I mean, it's like it's four to one. Basically, it's like, yeah, 200 million versus 50 million, you know, over 125 years of private violence versus state sanctioned violence. So, yeah, I mean, there's there's there's really no comparison there. Yeah, the state is is the ultimately is ultimately the most violent entity that we have to contend with.
00:41:15.640And that is the problem with even my argument, let's say, because if you're trying to defend yourself, like you said, in the street situation, that's one thing and things can be mitigated and never escalate beyond just a stiff punch in the face. But if, you know, let's say the police show up to your property, and it's unjust, there's no way to defend yourself without this escalating to ultimately death.
00:41:36.100Well, this is what we were talking about with Ed Mabry on the last episode we just did, which is actually interesting to have this conversation.
00:41:43.160We're talking about the idea of justice and revenge is for the Lord, right?
00:41:50.460We're talking about forgiveness, justice, and revenge.
00:41:53.980And we kind of distilled it down to this point where it was like, well, if someone is wrong to you, you can go to the state.
00:42:01.160And the state is supposed to dole out the justice here on earth for something that's happened.
00:42:06.100And I was like, yeah, but I don't even know, like, this is a inherently corrupt system.
00:42:57.900I'm allowed to do this thing to you because, you know, my follower, my this this living
00:43:02.480sacrifice of mine hasn't retaliated it's in fact passed the ball to me so i i can see that um but
00:43:08.440yeah it is it's it's like a strategic spiritual warfare thing that's right and that's that's a
00:43:13.700really key point that i that i've been thinking about a lot lately is uh you you said you don't
00:43:17.340know how it's gonna you don't you we don't know how god's gonna distribute justice yeah and the
00:43:22.640the the harder thing to contend with that we really need to understand as christians is that
00:43:27.560we don't need to know it's not our place to know like when uh i think it's ananias uh god calls
00:43:34.040him to go witness to saul who's been struck blind yeah and uh i mean imagine this is so great this
00:43:40.620is why we know the bible is is the true word of god it's insane like god speaks to ananias this
00:43:46.860is go to saul and he was just like are you sure you're talking about him i mean he's talking to
00:43:50.040the almighty god he's just like are you sure i do you have the wrong guy like it is if god could
00:43:54.660make an error in judgment. It's so funny. I mean, how human we are and how easy it is to like lose
00:44:00.280sight of our, uh, of what we're supposed to do under God's command. But you know, Ananias went
00:44:06.780to Saul. He's like, that guy's, he's throwing Christians in jail. Like I'm not going to go0.73
00:44:10.340talk to him. He's like, just go do it. Just go do it. That's, that's God's command. Just go do it.
00:44:14.940Listen to what I say and do what I say. No question. Just do it. And we know more about
00:44:20.840paul with the world over than we do about ananias but without ananias we wouldn't have paul you know
00:44:26.980i mean like as many people praise paul on the planet earth there's more people that you know
00:44:31.480praise ananias and in heaven because he was able to just do what god said just do it and ananias
00:44:38.360didn't know what that outcome was going to be he had no idea and and you know the bigger the
00:44:42.420broader point is he didn't need to know like god didn't need to tell him how important what he was
00:44:47.580doing was he just did it so it's obedience over confusion and over questioning that's that's the
00:44:53.840key thing well we talked about this on a previous episode that the main driver of that part of you
00:44:59.360that wants to know that wants to see the vengeance enacted that wants to know that the scales have
00:45:03.940been rectified that is pride yeah right yeah that's what it comes from it's like yeah sure0.99
00:45:09.280like to go like yeah god i'll leave this one in your hands but like let me know how that shit0.94
00:45:12.880goes like i want to watch it i kind of do want to know but where do you want of course i want to0.96
00:45:17.080know yeah yeah where you're at on then uh earthly punishment or law or things like uh i don't know
00:45:23.920even like policing as far as like the christian worldview goes is it okay for uh christian i mean
00:45:30.100we play i play in a in a band and i play in the church and one of the people is a cop yeah and i
00:45:36.280often think about that kneeling on their neck no like i don't like you know i don't know i'm not
00:45:42.860i'm not a libertarian anymore i will i never really was but i still got this thing with the
00:45:47.640cops when i see him i go yeah you know you're a glorified revenue collector for the state that's
00:45:52.420the thing that's right that's exactly what i feel yeah yeah yeah and i i know some really good cops
00:45:58.820i got cops in my neighborhood retired cops uh current cops and uh generally they're they're
00:46:03.740good they're good people you know but at the same time i do recognize that they are administers of
00:46:09.560the state and they will come in and kick your teeth in for no reason other than to follow rules i got
00:46:14.080i got a dear friend of mine is an iraq veteran uh afghanistan i think actually afghanistan veteran
00:46:19.780uh he was deployed multiple times jumping out helicopters his back's destroyed uh the va doesn't
00:46:25.540help him at all he regularly uh randomly smells the dead flesh of burned uh afghani just walking
00:46:32.640around he and um the other day he had some sort of situation at school he's trying to get his 14
00:46:40.580year old registered at the school that he just moved to and the school kept fumbling the paperwork
00:46:45.160and he was walking out and he was like i'm just gonna go home and shoot myself you know i mean
00:46:48.680this guy's got a lot of issues and uh some lady overheard him and she was just like did you say
00:46:52.960you're gonna shoot the school he's like no i wasn't talking to you and she's like you just
00:46:56.260said you're gonna shoot up the school he spent a week in prison in jail rather yeah yeah i mean
00:47:01.380his life, which was already very difficult, has gotten exponentially worse. And, you know, I mean,
00:47:07.220quite frankly, him and his family and his parents, I've been able to move them closer to anarchism
00:47:11.620because of this, because it's just like, why would the police do this? They're asking. They were
00:47:15.260just like, how could this happen to him? I'm just like, this is what they do. They will do anything
00:47:20.320to quash citizens' rights, even if it's free speech spoken privately. You cannot trust the
00:47:27.320police to do anything effectively. If we had a competent justice system in the courts or in
00:47:32.900policing, then I would advocate for going to court or calling police if there's some sort of issue.
00:47:38.100We don't have that. They have proven themselves incompetent over and over and over so consistently
00:47:42.700that you cannot rely on them for fucking shit. I think that that's just the nature of the human1.00
00:47:49.560experience, though, right? I mean, as long as we've had guards of any sort, they've always been
00:47:54.760corrupt because they're man it's like you look at any institution um religious or otherwise and
00:48:00.200you can find the corruption because you can find the corruption in man's heart so you're always
00:48:04.120going to have that and i mean when you said you couldn't trust them to do anything right
00:48:07.200uh police officers themselves if they're being candid will often tell you you cannot trust them
00:48:12.720period you cannot try at all for i mean you know whatever that case is and but there is also this
00:48:19.420idea of who the hell am I supposed to call when you know I've been wronged in some great degree
00:48:26.540your body is always giving you signals whoop helps you understand them whoop is the wearable
00:48:32.200health and fitness coach that provides personalized insights into your sleep recovery strain and
00:48:37.860overall health to help you make better decisions every day whether you're training working traveling
00:48:43.180or just trying to feel your best whoop shows you what helps your performance and what might be
00:48:48.260holding you back listen to your body build better habits see where whoop can take you try whoop free
00:48:54.360for 30 days at whoop.com well i think what you're describing too at at the bottom of uh these these
00:49:02.480people and their issues your friend that's in the military uh or a cop there is like a there's an
00:49:09.040underlying sense of patriotism that they have that caused them to either join the police force or the
00:49:14.700military. And even after war, sometimes you can get their legs blown off and still retain that
00:49:20.200patriotism. And patriotism is a weird word, because it's something that I think we should
00:49:27.220have still, like, we should like our country, because we live here. Why? Because I live here,
00:49:35.260because my kid, it's a very strange line to walk. And I still haven't really expressed it
00:49:42.320correctly. It's just that I am a citizen here. This is the boat that I'm on and I can't afford
00:49:48.680it to sink. And I know that there's a lot of problems with it, but I got my kids on this boat.
00:49:52.920So like that idea of patriotism of, of being like, yeah, okay, this country is inherently flawed,
00:49:58.400but I don't want it to completely fail versus, uh, I'm following Christ alone. You know what
00:50:08.320i mean like these two things are in opposition to each other well what i mean okay so you don't
00:50:13.520want it to fail neither do i what measures can you possibly take to ensure that it doesn't fail
00:50:19.580i mean we're we're in the back seat of a car that's throttling toward hell i mean and we're
00:50:25.780not our politicians are not held accountable for anything the epstein class there's nothing we can
00:50:31.420really effectively do to make sure that our country doesn't fail so what measures could you possibly
00:50:37.640take to ensure that it does. I think it's just the connotation with the the radical left that
00:50:42.460we've seen for the last six years, I mean, the last decade or so, where it's like, I'm not going
00:50:46.240to be I'm not going to go and burn an American flag. That is not conducive to changing anything.
00:50:51.320Neither is voting. Sure. So we're kind of in a situation right where I'm like, so yeah, I see
00:50:56.960we see through the bullshit of the left and the right. And we know that both of these cars are0.97
00:51:00.460going in the same direction. But there's still the tangible country, like the actual land that
00:51:07.780we live on, not the powers that be that govern it. And is that patriotism? Or is that just like,
00:51:13.860hey, yeah, I'm, I'm sorry, maybe I'm guilty, because yeah, I do love where I live. I love
00:51:18.940this place. I'm grateful for everything that I'm I've been able to do in it and all the things
00:51:24.040that it's given me, and the ability for me to build what I've built on this place. But it's
00:51:29.420inherently evil so yes yes to both of those things but i don't know where to put it yeah it's tough
00:51:36.300this is something i've been thinking about a lot uh lately it's i mean where i'm at is patriotism
00:51:40.760is slavery um that that's not my uh that's not my quote it's from tolstoy who is kind of the uh the
00:51:46.920the grandfather of anarcho-christian thought um and and he understood uh particularly because he
00:51:53.360was he was writing at a time that was 19th century russia and he he saw what was coming and he saw
00:51:57.920what he had gone through. And he realized that patriotism was slavery because I think that
00:52:04.160essentially countries exist to create patriotism. And patriotism is more or less a devotion to the
00:52:11.240government to the extent that you're willing to go to war for them. Without a country, you don't
00:52:17.140have people that are willing to go to war and commit mass murder. But patriotism is, well,
00:52:23.480it's kind of a Trojan horse, actually. If you have a devotion to your country, then why wouldn't
00:52:27.260you serve your country and if you had people that did not want to serve their country then we
00:52:32.180wouldn't have as many wars as we've seen in the past century and centuries preceding that so i i
00:52:38.680think that i think that patriotism is essentially a gateway drug into uh total war that's an
00:52:46.100interesting idea because you can see the how would you how would you express this sort of the
00:52:51.320logistical reasons for well hey if we've got this thing we want to protect this how many people are
00:52:56.760willing to stand up and defend us in the case of let's say historically um even in hunter-gatherer
00:53:03.160situations there's always been tribal warfare right but the second you make that decision
00:53:07.740and you go like yeah i would fight for this i would fight for this and then somebody is because
00:53:11.920of the corruption of man's heart will look at that and go actually we kind of got a lot of0.96
00:53:16.200people willing to die for this situation what if we went over there and killed those dudes with
00:53:20.540this so it's like demonetize that it's just it is a problem because logistically you can see
00:53:25.200that right it's like imagine being in this tribal situation where you're experiencing um you know
00:53:32.660just getting ran in on by some opposing tribe uh on a on a monthly basis like they did it again
00:53:39.740they took more of our women like you can see that natural inclination to go we've got to gather
00:53:44.960together how many people let's have this conversation how many people are willing to0.88
00:53:49.640get together and go and do something about this well that's the thing i i am willing to die
00:53:54.920for this country but not this country the way people are told like i'm not willing to go
00:54:00.820somewhere else to defend some strange ideals or a poppy field somewhere else but yeah if somebody's
00:54:06.000going to come here and try to take what i have i have to defend it but that's what happens is they
00:54:12.380they then go that line is super blurred yeah yeah well they crash into a couple of towers and they
00:54:17.520go we have to go defend ourselves now right exactly like you knock yourself and then and
00:54:21.960then honeydick us into going somewhere else we got honeydicked this is a big problem here
00:54:25.860but this this is why i have like a the holdup with that non-aggression principle because like
00:54:31.120the idea of aggression has been so skewed we've been you know since uh what's it called um
00:54:36.880operation gladio project like where they're doing domestic uh domestic terrorism to ourselves
00:54:44.400you know whether it's in italy or that's been moved over to here now it's very hard to determine
00:54:49.760where the aggression is coming from and is it justified to even oppose this aggression or
00:54:57.240take action against it because it's so it's just crazy so but i don't i honestly don't know where
00:55:03.480to even start with it do you do you have any solutions like what have you what have you been
00:55:07.300thinking about this uh as far as like conclusions well when when i get into these conversations with
00:55:14.420Tim or anybody else on the show they they always want to move to oh what if your wife gets great
00:55:20.320you know I mean like what they always want to move to the most extreme scenarios and
00:55:24.540God forbid these things happen and I to be honest I don't know what I would do in an extreme scenario
00:55:30.860like that when it comes to extreme physical violence or you know sexual assault or something
00:55:35.880like that I would I mean I would tend to just pray for a hedge of protection around my family
00:55:43.180like I do every day to ensure that these things don't happen. But even, you know, these hedges
00:55:47.280can be broken by evil. That does happen. But the simpler way to apply these principles is to just
00:55:54.720put them in your daily life on a day-to-day basis. You know, I mean, you don't have to think
00:55:59.000about the extreme scenario, war, sexual assault for my wife, you know, something happens to my
00:56:03.740kids, God forbid. You can actually just apply these principles on a daily basis to the simple
00:56:08.160things and at the same time pray that the worst doesn't come to worse worse comes to worse i mean
00:56:16.220i really don't know how i'd respond in those situations i have to be honest you know well
00:56:19.700we've had discussions on this show and i forgot who exactly we're talking to uh might have been
00:56:25.620dr masood unless this is something we heard in church but uh missionaries in africa dealing with
00:56:34.260um you know the witchcraft is is alive and well the third world country has no uh qualms about
00:56:40.720spirituality they're very aware that it exists and they're engaging with it on a regular basis0.79
00:56:45.340and so witchcraft and things of that nature are dialed up to the extreme out there and
00:56:49.500um there's a christian missionary and uh an african gentleman who was preaching the gospel
00:56:56.720to local uh tribes of witches effectively right and um long story short they end up
00:57:05.200murdering his entire family uh killing his his mother i believe is his spouse everything else
00:57:11.360that you can imagine even uh uh i believe he lost his arm and as soon as he recovered he went
00:57:18.060straight back to them and continued preaching the gospel and then ended up converting a ton of them
00:57:23.880um to christianity because they were so staggered by the fact that he would come back and still
00:57:29.180preach the word of god after what they had done to him um staggering testimony unbelievable
00:57:35.340strength and conviction in the lord and it's that is effectively what you're asking for which is
00:57:42.720to say that is what scripture is asking for that is what what the bible was asking for um
00:57:48.300And in my mind over and over again, I'm struck with, well, thank God we have a forgiving God because I don't know that I have that sort of strength.
00:57:57.420But I know when I see that or I hear that story, I recognize like, oh, yeah, that is – that's the way.
01:07:37.940So they weren't encountering anything that we're not encountering now, and yet I think that part of the thing with Romans 13 is that you have to be able to survive in order to spread the message.
01:07:51.720And if you're constantly – this is the problem with a lot of anarchists is that they just want to protest.
01:08:06.240You know, I mean, so it's like if you want to continue to spread the message and you need to be a peaceable citizen up to the point where you're facing a Nebuchadnezzar scenario, it's like, OK, bow down to this idol.0.60
01:08:23.460But up until that point, you do need to be a peaceful citizen because you need to be able to go about your life, raise your family and spread the message of Christ.
01:08:31.840And you can't do that if you're in prison.
01:08:33.200well what about the idea too that it's it's um there's a difference between using these systems
01:08:40.040uh when it makes sense and putting your faith in a system or an institution or a process
01:08:46.500that's you know uh government adjacent because um i just think that let's say within the the
01:08:54.540the idea of war or or the police um where are you placing your faith that this situation is
01:09:01.120going to be remedied, whether that situation be your safety or the future prosperity of a nation
01:09:06.500or any of those things, your faith should be placed in God. If you're walking around with
01:09:13.560faith in the institutions of man, maybe that's more so the problem?
01:09:18.660Oh, that is exactly the problem, especially with people that don't know Christ.
01:09:22.960Because you have to place your faith in something. You have to. Everybody does. Otherwise,
01:09:27.120you wouldn't get out of bed in the morning and a lot of people just place their faith in secular
01:09:31.740institutions or ideas like science you know i mean but yeah that that is exactly the key problem that
01:09:38.600a lot of people are contending with and don't even realize they're contending with it honestly
01:09:41.780because you have to place your faith in christ in christ alone otherwise you're going to be lost
01:09:46.660here here's an example maybe on a on a micro scale so can i just say before we move from the
01:09:53.740romans passage when i read that people do throw that in people's faces uh christians faces and0.99
01:09:59.480they're like yeah you should obey the government how stupid are you but i'm like it's just for me0.97
01:10:03.660when i read it i'm like jesus is giving you very good advice it's honestly the same advice that i0.98
01:10:08.780give i gave uh my libertarian followers back in the day before i was like overtly spreading the
01:10:16.780gospel or even like at that point i wasn't i didn't want anything to do with the church or
01:10:20.920got it but i would tell them like hey you're saying don't pay your taxes and here's the way0.94
01:10:25.760i was like hey do that because you're gonna get your head cut off and you're more useful to me0.95
01:10:31.780uh not in jail or dead right you know you're more useful to this idea having children and0.97
01:10:39.080spreading this idea and making it grow or you can be you know like the bitcoin i think they're the
01:10:44.680bitcoin six in new hampshire these guys tossed in jail and their lives are hell for like the and
01:10:51.380they're making a moot point like we we all understand that but we have to play this game
01:10:55.900give them a thing they have the guns right now be aware of where we are positioned here yeah
01:11:01.960stay alive i think that's a good point like if you're thrown in prison um you know you you can
01:11:07.600still spread the gospel right if you're dead you can't so it's like whatever whatever um i wonder
01:11:13.360is is like get under the radar and keep spreading the gospel and keep propagating and keep making
01:11:18.860believers of men and disciples of men and the second you you know get your neck kneeled on
01:11:25.320for too long like it's over you can't do that anymore so maybe there is something to be said
01:11:29.540about that too where it's like stay in the game like i wonder i wonder how jesus felt about his
01:11:34.200cousin being killed at the time he was killed for uh i think he was criticizing uh uh one of
01:11:41.520one of the emperor's wives i forgot exactly the offense that like really put his head on the
01:11:45.480chair they wanted to kill him anyway because they didn't like him you're talking about john the
01:11:48.540baptist yeah yeah i just wonder if jesus was probably like hey man you could have just shut0.91
01:11:54.760up for a little bit longer he was gonna get his head cut off eventually but it's like
01:11:59.000a week another week of preaching or baptizing people what does that do for the kingdom i don't
01:12:03.780know i don't know but yeah that could be a cautionary tale and by the way so what i was
01:12:10.380talking about was this idea on the micro of, um, you have faith that God will heal you. Right.
01:12:15.960But, and, and obviously your first route should be prayer and commuting with the Lord about this
01:12:20.740thing that ails you. But then after that, is it not reasonable? If, especially if it's something
01:12:25.380it's like, I need antibiotics. Like I have faith that God is going to heal me, but I'm going to do
01:12:30.940the things that I need to do because if God's like, yeah, I was going to heal you. Um, but you
01:12:35.860never got off your ass to go get the antibiotics prescription you know what i mean like so so it's0.99
01:12:41.160like the idea of using a system but your faith is still in the lord and in fact first foremost you0.99
01:12:47.920came to god and laid your problem at his feet fundamentally first that was and that speaks to
01:12:53.500the faith of the situation and then after that to go like all right it's in god's hands now
01:12:57.400in the meantime i'm gonna do what i can i'm gonna get some sunlight i'm gonna get some vitamin c i'll
01:13:01.700go pick up these antibiotics. And, you know, let's do this thing. I think that you can probably
01:13:06.680navigate these systems. But first and foremost, your faith is in the Lord. Right, right. But I
01:13:11.920mean, there's no scriptural prohibition against being proactive, you know, right, right, you know,0.99
01:13:18.780I mean, of course, your faith comes first, but you also have to just, you know, not be a dumbass.0.99
01:13:24.160Like, it's not that hard to not be a dumbass. It's actually pretty simple. And I think that's0.99
01:13:28.120Sorry. Yeah. Well, yes, I think that's where the non-aggression principle tripped me up.
01:13:34.200But it's also just a misunderstanding of it. And and how like the application of certain libertarians when they're talking about the non-aggression principle, it's almost like this non-preparation thing.
01:13:43.880Yeah. And I'm like, no, no, like you can shore up. You can shore up against events happening.
01:13:48.460That's not aggression. That's actually smart. Yeah. To think about these things like what will happen if I do X, Y, Z.
01:13:54.580and that that bothered me a lot about it and it gives it a bad name it gives it like it kind of
01:14:00.540just makes it feel like people are willing to accept whatever but i'm like no no you can change
01:14:04.660circumstances you don't have to be violent around it you can be smart we can prepare and store up
01:14:09.600treasures for the future if yeah i may um but uh there was a i wanted to ask you a question about
01:14:17.440a certain part in the article here that was interesting i didn't know that you broke your
01:14:21.480like when did this happen you broke your oh uh yeah yeah um your femur it was a good one yeah
01:14:28.120the day before christmas eve alex said hey let's take the kids ice skating that'll be fun
01:14:32.840and uh i was like if you asked me how dangerous ice skating was before to this i'd be like zero
01:14:37.700percent like you know and uh yeah i we we skated for about an hour always had a lot of fun i had
01:14:45.800fun no problems and i was exiting the rink and i like decelerating like i was i wasn't going i
01:14:52.200wasn't trying anything fancy no tricks just exiting the rink and my legs went out completely
01:14:56.440from under me i landed exactly on my hip at the perfect section of my hip to just split the femur
01:15:01.860this way broke like like a long way dude yeah yeah oh dude yeah yeah it was a good one i'd never
01:15:11.500Never, never, never broken a bone, never had a surgery, but, uh, you know, thanks to God's
01:15:15.680providence, I was put in a surgery that night and I got the, I got the hardware in right
01:17:29.440so you had mentioned earlier uh at the top of the show this idea of the but we got to get back to
01:17:34.380his broken leg though because there's some important stuff there but go ahead all right
01:17:36.860fine we'll remember that let's couch that for a second messianic jew cult oh okay oh yeah that0.86
01:17:41.700was a good one tell me about it yeah uh so of course we were always shifting churches in the0.87
01:17:47.260mountains of kentucky because they were basically glorified uh social clubs you know i mean there's
01:17:52.100really no jesus there there's no scripture i mean it's just people getting together and talking
01:17:56.720shit about each other and uh from going to a baptist church methodist church to a pentecostal0.88
01:18:01.900church we just did the cycle until we finally landed at a messianic jewish uh church it was0.99
01:18:07.180the rabbi was a uh italian american that was a a car expert he always had grease on his hands
01:18:15.900because he worked on cars during the day and uh they basically they the whole thought of messianic
01:18:21.940judaism is that well uh yeshua did did these you know rituals he did he wore the the tiny hat and
01:18:30.560he did all this stuff so we're gonna do what yeshua does you know but there wasn't a jew in0.98
01:18:34.920the place it was all like you know uh goys that were members of this church uh but yeah they
01:18:41.180followed the rabbinical laws and customs and everything but it's kind of my understanding
01:18:46.580that they like they're just christians who are trying to preach the gospel to jews specifically
01:18:54.020um there there's a strain of that but this particular church was more self-contained it
01:18:59.900wasn't uh evangelical in the sense that it was trying to spread the message it was just it was
01:19:03.940literally more like we're going to do the jewish stuff because jesus did the jewish stuff but if
01:19:10.760they believe in jesus then i mean because that's the entire thing the jews don't believe that
01:19:17.980jesus was the messiah and they're still waiting for their moshiak so you know whereas christians
01:19:23.060believe it's the second coming um they're waiting for the first and then there's even this additional
01:19:28.920layer that when they will get a moshiak and that will be the antichrist and they'll effectively
01:19:34.540celebrate him you know yada yada um those days are coming that's happening soon i think right0.94
01:19:40.540Well, I mean, yeah, they're trying to engineer red heifers to get it done.0.93
01:19:45.240But, I mean, if you believe in – this has always been my issue with the Messianic Jew thing is, like, if you believe in Christ, then you're not a Jew.0.92
01:20:04.480And, I mean, I agree with that broadly.
01:20:06.020I mean, like, it was just, literally, it was just like, it was basically Christians that follow Jewish customs, and their reasoning is, Jesus did these customs, so we're going to do what he did, essentially.
01:20:17.280Yeah, but, I mean, I learned Hebrew there, you know, I mean, like, they were very strict about the Hebrew Jewish tradition and customs, but they still believed in Yeshua as their Messiah.0.55
01:20:29.280That's fascinating, because we've been grafted onto the vine, there's no need for Jewish custom.0.83
01:20:33.520um they talked about the grafting quite a bit actually um despite the fact that they still0.90
01:20:38.280followed those customs so i don't know i like i wasn't i wasn't there very long maybe a couple
01:20:42.000years okay you know me and my family really they've realized they're just like this is kind of
01:20:46.900crazy like we can't have i remember we showed up with a pepperoni pizza one time and they like
01:20:51.560threw it in the trash you know they're just like oh no no no you can't have you can't have pepperoni
01:20:55.420yeah yeah yeah so they're very uh literal minded in that sense but it's but scripture literally
01:21:01.240says uh any food that's received with thanksgiving right permitted right and so yeah but i guess it's
01:21:07.820very selective in there oh yeah believe me i'm i'm not gonna make it i'm not i'm not gonna mount
01:21:12.860a defense for what these people practice at this church that i went to when i was a teenager but
01:21:17.660right right yeah that's uh they had their own view of things yeah very interesting very very yeah

01:25:36.940So I was fresh off of a sermon a couple weeks ago.
01:25:40.340the pastor talked he's talking about elijah and elijah hearing the sound of rain before the rain
01:25:45.540came and the you know they were in a drought and then he told the king to you know he's like i hear
01:25:49.900the rain you got to go and he sent his his servant out there to look for the rain and at a certain
01:25:54.920point the servant comes and he says oh i see a cloud the size of a man's hand he was like all
01:25:59.580right the rain's coming and our pastor kind of dialed it down to ears of faith knees of prayer
01:26:07.860feet of hope use your faith pray and then have confidence to walk forward and our one of our
01:26:15.520neighbors she has an elderly mother and who's not doing very well and she mistakenly opened the
01:26:21.900window to their house and let the cat out by accident there was a screen there the cat got
01:26:26.980loose so uh that monday morning the neighbor was just like we're looking for our cat we've been
01:26:31.580looking all night can't find her and with zero confidence i said i'll find the cat don't worry0.98
01:26:36.980about it so i was just like shit i'm never gonna find this fucking cat why did i say that so i go0.99
01:26:43.740i go outside and i was just like what am i gonna do how am i gonna find this fucking cat like i0.99
01:26:47.540mean you find a dog but how are you gonna find a fucking cat yeah so i the first thing i do i'm0.99
01:26:52.020walking around the neighborhood and i the first thing i said was the lord's prayer and i was like0.99
01:26:56.480all right now what and i said god you know when every sparrow falls you know the numbers of hairs
01:27:02.640in her head i don't know where this cat is but you do where's this cat and god said to me i know
01:27:09.180that sounds crazy maybe it's not god said to me check that bush and i looked around the corner
01:27:14.380and i saw a bush and i was just like there is no way that cat's in that bush and he said look and
01:27:19.120see and i crawled under this massive bush there was the cat so i grabbed i pulled out the cat i
01:27:26.520gave her to the neighbor i was like i got her she's like i can't believe you found her i was
01:27:29.080like, I didn't. I literally did not find this cat. God told me where this cat was. And I've been
01:27:34.820able to use this story to evangelize to all of my neighbors where I live. Because I had this
01:27:40.780reputation for finding cats. And I was like, you're the hero. You found that cat. And I was
01:27:43.820like, I did not find this cat. God spoke to me. I prayed. God told me where that cat was. That's
01:27:48.700how I found it. So I've had this opportunity to sort of use a testimony to everybody that I know
01:27:54.040in this neighborhood. People don't even want to know about God. They don't want to know about
01:27:56.220jesus i want to know any of this stuff but nevertheless there's this opportunity that i
01:28:00.460have to talk about how this cat got found because god showed me where she was that's funny because
01:28:05.320people think they don't want to hear about jesus but like they do want to hear about how you found
01:28:08.660a cat because that's hard as hell yeah i don't think you're seeing that because i know i could
01:28:14.240tell from uh like the standpoint of a regular person once you say like yeah god told me they
01:28:20.000probably go up this guy's out of his mind like what yeah what have you been hearing i told well
01:28:25.180yeah i i actually shared this story with my pastor and he was just like he asked me the same question
01:28:28.860he's like what do your neighbors think about that when you tell them that god told you that cat was
01:28:33.100yeah um some people well you know what ultimately the results speak for themselves
01:28:38.780right it's a very straightforward thing cats are super hard to find once they get out
01:28:43.980and this is the way that it happened and i can't i they keep trying to give me credit and i i can't
01:28:49.740i literally cannot take credit for it like zero chance i would have found that cat if i hadn't
01:28:54.380just had the presence of mind to pray about it and i don't even know why i did that about it's0.98
01:28:58.940just a stupid fucking cat but nevertheless i was just like well this is really important to my0.99
01:29:04.000neighbors they like they don't want to lose their cat it's a beloved animal they you know yeah and0.99
01:29:07.800uh and it all worked out so i'm i'm happy about that i want to ask you something as we kind of
01:29:13.820bring this in uh for a close and it might shake out some interesting stories but i've heard
01:29:18.960Obviously, talking to our mutual friend, Shane Cashman, and his experience on Tim Cass, where he's reading scripture and he's in the presence of Gary, the numbers guy.
01:29:37.540So for you, that must have been a really cool because, you know, what it's like there and, you know, what a almost a monumental task that would be right.
01:29:47.280Like, what a deviation from what the normal flow of a show is.
01:29:51.420Yeah, I mean, I don't know if you're going to go there, but, you know, Shane was saying that the spiritual heaviness in that place when he walked in, didn't know who Gary was.
01:30:03.440Gary shoots it off, you know, color comment about there's no Christians here, right?
01:30:09.100And all this stuff that leads up to it that convicts Shane to just respond in scripture.
01:30:13.700You being there, Chris, you've probably seen so many different types of people come and go. What's it like being a Christian in that environment? I'm sure there's times where it, you know, everything's on God's side. And there's times where you're in the presence of people that are not about that at all. What's that like?
01:30:34.840yeah i mean uh well tim is situated in west virginia which is a state that i despise
01:30:41.360and a state that has i think uh in some measure a pretty heavy demonic presence
01:30:47.320yeah um and there's been some peculiar activity uh in that area uh not just in the studio but on
01:30:55.460the property uh so i'm aware of that but i do spend a lot of time there you're not talking
01:31:00.140Are you talking about supernatural activity?
01:31:10.100Well, driving from the airport to there, sorry to interrupt again, but I did notice large swaths of either empty land or what looked like desolate living conditions.
01:31:21.320So when you did the show, he was in Maryland.
01:31:24.580He has a totally different studio now that's even, I think it's like a half hour from that studio.
01:31:29.440So he's moved into an even more rural area where it's more desolate, more broken up, way too rural for my liking.
01:32:20.100Whoop is the wearable health and fitness coach that provides personalized insights into your sleep, recovery, strain, and overall health to help you make better decisions every day.
01:32:30.240Whether you're training, working, traveling, or just trying to feel your best, Whoop shows you what helps your performance and what might be holding you back.

01:32:46.180To the chagrin of the chatters and the people that I'm on the panel with.
01:32:50.100And it's interesting because even when I'm on with somebody like Libby Emmons, you know, she gets very, you know, combative about Christianity and I have my own perspective and everything.
01:32:59.840But, you know, it's I just I use the opportunity to just do the work and be kind to people.
01:33:07.640I take care of people. I'm polite to people.
01:33:09.880You know, I mean, I don't want to annoy them with my anarcho-Christian shit.0.98
01:33:15.180But whenever there's an opportunity to speak about it, I use that opportunity, you know.1.00
01:33:19.200So that's a great place to be. You know, I've heard things about it's humble. It's humble for sure. It's hard to do. I've heard things about Tim where it's like he doesn't care what you believe. He doesn't care who you associate with, you know, meaning the people that are there working for him, working with him.
01:33:37.900I do hear a lot of things in regards to he's very cool about that. And so what he has created is this very fascinating, you know, arena that has tremendous reach.
01:33:51.700And then you get to pass in and out of that arena. And when the opportunity presents itself, spread the gospel. That's a really, really unique place to be, especially when it's not just open to Christians. It's open to everybody, including maybe a fat dysgenic numerologist.
01:34:09.960so it's a great thing to do and i i'd hope that the listeners and the you know the the members of
01:34:16.260nds like the audience like pray pray for chris because what you're doing when you get that
01:34:21.460opportunity it's it's not easy like to number one to know what to say in the hour or at least to let
01:34:27.040that spirit flow through you without being intimidated by the situation and the cameras
01:34:30.860and it's it is it is a little bit overwhelming like just you know i did it one time and i i
01:34:37.680wasn't at that level or of uh the level of understanding like the live stuff and like the
01:34:42.640producing and it's it can get a little crazy a lot yeah knowing a hundred thousand people or more
01:34:47.360will see that it's it's it's hard to do so i i hope i i hate it i hate it every time i mean like
01:34:54.520i'm a writer i like to think very carefully about what i say and what i think and then put it down
01:34:59.680into words and sentences and paragraphs yeah i'm not a broadcaster but nevertheless i keep getting
01:35:05.480invited onto the show and it never gets easier especially because like now that i'm on my0.87
01:35:10.660anarcho-christian shit like you know tim is all i always end up arguing with them and the last0.90
01:35:15.720thing i want to do is have a debate with tim pool about christianity or anarchism yeah all these0.97
01:35:21.620people watching i hate it but you know what i gotta stand on it that's what i believe and i just
01:35:26.940i just have a totally heterodox perspective on all of these news items that come up you know i mean
01:35:32.920And they kind of, you know, they're all just kind of like MAGA, right wing, conservative, you know, they just have like very kind of mainline opinions.
01:35:41.020And I'm just like the bombshell, you know, and it's just like, well, I'm not going to lie, you know, but at the same time, I don't really want to have a debate.
01:35:49.640I don't like debates. I don't like broadcasts.
01:35:52.220You know what's great about that though, Chris?
01:35:54.120Like, so on this show, we're talking to an audience that gets it.
01:35:58.080And in some ways, you might ask, is that redundant?
01:43:41.140So in all of your, I mean, everything that you're doing, the only, one of the only Christians on Timcast, you know, whenever the panel's up, the articles that you're writing, the life that you're trying to live.
01:44:09.960and uh more importantly than just being happy there's a lot of talk about being happy are you
01:44:15.680happy people ask it's just like it's not about being happy it's about having a purpose and these
01:44:20.740boys and my wife and my family and this community that i adore they give me purpose every single
01:44:26.300fucking day i love it yeah you know what that brings it brings satisfaction right i find that0.92
01:44:31.640like happiness doesn't do it if it did then drugs would satisfy you or something like that but you0.96
01:44:36.400You don't hear that or money would satisfy you, but it is really like I'm grateful every day because it's clear that God has given me purpose, and that's awesome because I can't give that to myself.
01:44:47.760You can try to create something that you think is your purpose in life, but that doesn't usually work out so well.
01:44:54.620So I agree with what you're saying there.
01:44:56.220Chris, as we bring it out to a close, then where can people find you?
01:44:59.620Chris Carr 17 on X, and check out my sub stack.
01:45:03.000i got a lot of uh i'm kind of using this i'm writing about things uh occasionally but i'm
01:45:07.240also using this as an archive to sort of preserve some of my uh best reporting uh yeah right there
01:45:12.580the millennial millennial mises caucus oh boy yeah yeah that was uh that's a whole nother
01:45:18.380conversation oh yeah yeah so i covered that in reno when the mises caucus took over the libertarian
01:45:24.400party um but yeah that's where you can find some of my best writing uh chris carr.substack.com
01:45:29.860that's car k-a-r-r and oh and hillbilly sensibilities yeah there's a treasure trove
