00:00:00.000 So prove to yourself one morning at a time, one day at a time, one task at a time,
00:00:06.060 that when the alarm goes off, you get up. That when the alarm goes off, you move your body.
00:00:10.960 That when the alarm goes off, you start leading your family well. You are the patriarch. You are
00:00:15.200 the leader of your family. So it's important for you to start acting, even though the summer
00:00:20.160 have got away from you. It's okay you enjoyed the weekend. It's okay that you had some fun,
00:00:26.540 but Al is the time to get back into it.
00:00:31.400 Men, as you know, summer is coming to an end
00:00:34.260 and it ends the same way every single year.
00:00:37.260 The alarm goes off at 6 a.m.
00:00:40.560 and your body has no idea what that sound means anymore.
00:00:45.980 And you spent the past 9, 10, 11 weeks waking up
00:00:50.620 when the sun feels like it.
00:00:55.160 You eat at and on no particular schedule.
00:00:59.520 You're working in flip-flops as I am right now.
00:01:02.240 In fact, I'm barefoot right now.
00:01:04.260 You're saying yes to one more drink on a Tuesday afternoon
00:01:09.240 because there was no when to answer to.
00:01:13.140 And now that there's a backpack by the door,
00:01:17.580 maybe it's a bus out on the street.
00:01:20.720 maybe it's a schedule taped to the refrigerator and a version of you that has to show up on time
00:01:28.280 again most men treat this moment like it's a problem to survive it's not it's an opportunity
00:01:35.540 to rebuild and rebuilding is where men are made and here's the mistake that almost every guy that
00:01:45.260 i know including myself makes when the last week of august rolls around he waits for the calendar
00:01:52.340 to force him to to get back into shape school starts the alarm resets itself and the office
00:02:00.440 fills back up and everything back on schedule on track and he assumes most men do that the
00:02:08.700 structure will do the work for but it won't external structure all of those support systems
00:02:17.520 and that structure and the guidance and the calendars and everything else uh it gets your
00:02:23.960 body in the room right like it gets you there but it does nothing for your mind or for your discipline
00:02:30.720 or for your standards that calendar really rebuild the man he has to do that himself and you have to
00:02:39.660 do that yourself on purpose before the obligation of school and pta meetings and all the other stuff
00:02:47.160 comes along because summer's over and the way you do that is in order and there's really three
00:02:54.580 steps. It's very simple. Not five, not 10, not a dozen. It's just three steps, one at a time.
00:03:01.940 Okay. So step one is to lock in the wake time. Okay. It's not a new diet. It's not a new workout.
00:03:11.080 It's not a new productivity system. It's not the battle planner that I use. It's just the hour
00:03:19.040 that you get up. Is it four or five? Is it six? Is it seven? I don't care when it is, as long as
00:03:26.140 it's the same every single day. And by the way, the weekends are the same. So many guys are like,
00:03:32.040 I'm going to sleep in this weekend. Don't sleep in, get up at the same time. Because if you get
00:03:36.780 up at the same time, then you're going to free your mind to do the, does it actually matter?
00:03:40.620 Instead of wondering when you will get up or how long you're going to hit the snooze button,
00:03:44.560 and just get up. If it's four, if it's five, if it's six, if it's seven, I don't care when it is.
00:03:49.560 It's just the hour that you get up the same every single day for the next seven days.
00:03:55.540 Again, weekends included. Okay. No sleeping in because you earned it. That's what a lot of guys
00:04:00.680 say. I deserve it. I've earned it. Okay. This is the, I don't know how else to say it. It's
00:04:08.500 the load-bearing wall. It's your energy. It's your discipline. It's your mood. It's your
00:04:16.180 ability to parent well before 8 a.m. All of it runs through, I think, this one decision.
00:04:25.860 Most men skip this because it feels too small to even matter. It's actually the opposite.
00:04:31.620 It's small enough that you can actually hide behind it. It's small enough that you can
00:04:37.880 actually win every single day by doing this. And winning it every day is what starts rebuilding
00:04:47.780 that process and that trust that you have in yourself. And the trust is the real thing that
00:04:55.640 you lost over the summer potentially. You stopped proving to yourself that you'll do what you say
00:05:03.980 you'll do. But step one is proving to yourself again, starting tomorrow morning, get up, set
00:05:10.420 the alarm, set the notification, and then just get up whatever time it is. Okay. Step number two,
00:05:16.300 guys, as we roll into the new year regarding getting kids back into school is to rebuild your
00:05:23.620 body. Okay. Once the wake time is, is, is blaring at you, um, add movement to your day daily,
00:05:35.340 non-negotiable. Even if it's just 20 minutes, get up and do some pushups, do some jumping jacks,
00:05:40.560 do some jump ropes, do some squats, do some lunges, do some, some sit-ups. Okay. Even again,
00:05:47.120 if it's 20 minutes, I don't care if it's 20 minutes, if it's 30 minutes, if it's an hour,
00:05:50.960 This is not the moment for a 12-week transformation plan, the battle plan.
00:05:58.140 That's kind of a summer activity, you know, weeks to a better body, 12 weeks to bulging abs or bulging biceps.
00:06:08.460 That's not what we're talking about here.
00:06:11.280 What we're talking about is just doing something every single day to move your body.
00:06:17.120 And that varies from person.
00:06:18.960 For me, it's going to the gym. I work out for about an hour per day and I get after. And it just helps me get on track and helps me do what I need to do. It helps me have clarity and focus and drive and ambition for the day.
00:06:37.820 But most men get fired up really briefly, and they'll do something as a 90-day segment.
00:06:44.280 What I'm asking you to do isn't necessarily fitness.
00:06:48.420 It's the same goal as step number one.
00:06:52.580 It's just proof, right?
00:06:54.160 Proof that you can do things.
00:06:56.700 It's small.
00:06:57.440 It's boring.
00:06:58.200 It's repetitive.
00:06:59.180 It's monotonous.
00:07:01.680 That you're actually going to do what you say you'll do.
00:07:04.440 that you'll move your body, that you'll exercise your brain, that you'll get up and you won't hit
00:07:09.540 the snooze button. And then you stack that up on top of a locked in wake time, which is what I
00:07:15.960 talked about in step number one. And now you've built two walls instead of one. And that's the
00:07:24.560 whole method. You're not overhauling your life in just this next weekend as your kids go back to
00:07:30.740 school, you're adding one thing at a time, systematically, methodically, very simple.
00:07:37.060 And all of us can get that done. And then there's step number three,
00:07:40.740 and that is to rebuild the work that you've been doing.
00:07:46.120 Okay. This is the one that every man wants to start with because it feels like it's most urgent.
00:07:52.360 It's the email inbox that's absolutely full. It's the deadlines that are back to back to back. It's
00:07:59.820 the pressure that you're feeling that is real resist the instinct to deviate from it man who
00:08:11.260 tries to force deep focused work before sleep and before exercise and before his body and mind are
00:08:18.620 firing is really building on ground that is not that is not stable it's ground that is not it's
00:08:27.080 on a foundation to build your life on. Yeah, you can get it done, but how long can you get it done
00:08:32.640 if you don't have the stability of waking up on time, of going to the gym, of working out? You'll
00:08:39.800 grind. You'll feel behind. You'll wonder why even fall as we roll into it feels harder than it
00:08:48.120 should be. It's harder than it should be because you skip the two steps. Do this in order. Get up
00:08:54.580 on time okay guys get up on time go move your body and then start to slip into your work
00:09:01.440 have deadlines have tasks have organizations um i use this it's the 12-week battle planner
00:09:08.920 if you're checking this out on youtube you can go to youtube.com slash order of man and i've got
00:09:15.060 literally 12 weeks of data and information and details and reports and to-do lists like
00:09:22.640 have a system okay but you can't do that until you've built the foundation and so it's very
00:09:30.200 simply as you're trying to get back on track your kids are going back to school your wife is more
00:09:35.360 engaged with work or with with home activities whatever it might be just engage in three steps
00:09:41.080 that's it but there is a piece of this that goes beyond just you individually and it's the piece
00:09:50.480 that a lot of men miss.
00:09:52.140 You're not just rebuilding your own routine
00:09:54.880 as we get back into this.
00:09:56.240 You're setting the rhythm, the cadence.
00:10:00.280 I like that term better.
00:10:01.240 The cadence for how your whole house runs.
00:10:07.820 Okay, don't follow that school schedule
00:10:11.900 or slip back into default, okay?
00:10:14.260 Your kids aren't going to follow that schedule
00:10:16.220 because the PTA told you this is the schedule
00:10:20.580 or the administration, the school administration
00:10:23.540 or the football team told you this is the way it goes.
00:10:26.240 They actually follow the system
00:10:28.200 because someone in the house, you,
00:10:30.940 is steady enough to hold it. 0.90
00:10:33.980 Okay, your wife isn't managing this re-entry 0.99
00:10:40.380 into the school year alone.
00:10:43.680 and if she does then that's not going to be favorable for you okay but your kids are watching
00:10:51.780 how you handle the return back to structure whether or not you drag your feet whether or
00:10:58.080 not you treat it like a burden that you have to carry or something that ultimately you choose to
00:11:03.900 do because you're the kind of man that wants to lead his family his wife and his kids well
00:11:07.780 the house that you're leading and you are the leader of the home i hope you know that
00:11:13.500 doesn't find its rhythm on its own. I mean, imagine getting, getting a hundred kids, let alone a
00:11:20.540 dozen or three kids together and saying, all of them have a different instrument and saying,
00:11:26.660 Hey, let's, let's put together something that harmonizes well. It's very, very likely that
00:11:33.380 that's not going to happen. But if you have somebody to orchestrate the music, somebody to
00:11:39.820 direct somebody to guide somebody to say you play this and you play that and you do this and you do
00:11:44.320 that then you're going to find a lot more harmonizing in the system okay that's you you're
00:11:51.960 the man you set the tone okay you're the one that's locked in you're the one who's dialed in
00:11:58.460 you're the one who's getting up at a set time you're the one who's uh working hard you're the
00:12:03.960 one who is moving in a positive direction. And this is where the old language, I guess
00:12:16.160 you might say, earns its place. Instead of just sounding on a podcast, you know, masculinity,
00:12:24.980 I've talked about this a lot. Masculinity is just the raw material. It's drive, it's energy,
00:12:29.360 It's the capacity. It's a propensity for risk-taking, aggressiveness.
00:12:35.560 But you still have that sitting out there, right? Unused, coming off of a loose and enjoyable
00:12:44.420 summer. I'm not saying you shouldn't have enjoyed the summer. You should have. But manliness,
00:12:48.340 and that's what we talk often about, is what happens when you take that raw energy,
00:12:53.160 the drive, the motivation, the ambition, the desire, and then you forge it and you point
00:12:58.500 towards something on purpose, with discipline, with commitment, with a standard that you hold
00:13:06.700 yourself to. And that's the most important thing I want you guys to take away from this. It's not
00:13:11.400 about getting your kids back on the bus on time. It's not about your wife getting the kids out the 0.65
00:13:17.120 door on time. It's about what you as a man will do in order to get the standard.
00:13:25.260 in order to lead your family well.
00:13:31.220 So those are the three steps.
00:13:32.740 It's very simple.
00:13:33.540 So simple, you might overlook it. 1.00
00:13:34.900 You might say, this is stupid. 1.00
00:13:36.140 It's not stupid, guys. 1.00
00:13:38.340 It's not a mood. 0.99
00:13:39.060 It's not a mindset.
00:13:41.620 It's not like how you feel.
00:13:43.140 It's just a sequence that you execute.
00:13:45.740 And one last thing,
00:13:47.000 because it matters more than the steps themselves.
00:13:50.520 Don't run this sequence out of guilt or shame
00:13:54.540 or I have an obligation, but run it out of duty, responsibility, being a man.
00:14:06.960 I don't want you to treat it as like, oh, I messed up and I got to get back on track
00:14:10.700 or I got to get back on the path.
00:14:12.060 We do that all the time, especially when it comes to our bodies.
00:14:15.040 But do this as a result of who you are as a man.
00:14:17.580 You didn't fail a summer.
00:14:19.540 Hopefully, you lived a really good summer.
00:14:22.020 the one that was meant to be lived
00:14:25.140 and now you're choosing to move into the next one
00:14:27.260 the next season on purpose
00:14:29.060 if you build this on
00:14:33.220 I should do this, I should do that
00:14:35.280 I should do this, I should treat this this way
00:14:37.220 I should show up this way
00:14:38.360 you're going to fizzle out
00:14:40.100 so prove to yourself
00:14:42.900 one morning at a time
00:14:44.760 one day at a time, one task at a time
00:14:47.520 that when the alarm goes off
00:14:49.160 you get up
00:14:49.660 that when the alarm goes off, you move your body, that when the alarm goes off, you start leading
00:14:56.240 your family. Well, you are the patriarch, you are the leader of your family. And so it's important
00:15:00.480 for you to start acting, even though the summer might have got away from you. It's like going on
00:15:06.980 a summer cruise. You know, it's like, I, how many times have I talked with men who think,
00:15:11.860 well, I'm going to go on a cruise, but I'm still going to maintain my, my fitness and my health.
00:15:16.660 and then they go to the all-you-can-eat buffets on the cruise
00:15:21.360 and everything goes out the window.
00:15:24.540 It's okay.
00:15:25.520 You slipped.
00:15:26.860 It's okay you enjoyed the weekend.
00:15:29.260 It's okay that you had some fun.
00:15:31.400 But now is the time to get back into it.
00:15:34.340 And I want you to get into it for yourself
00:15:36.320 because you feel better about who you are.
00:15:38.100 But I also want you to feel better about leading your family well.
00:15:41.920 And that's what we do as men.
00:15:43.020 We lead our families well.
00:15:44.560 so guys get back after it get on top of it lead your families well lead yourself well
00:15:50.180 incorporate those three steps and i think you'll have a better better time transitioning back into
