Pearl - Does Fat Shaming ACTUALLY Work Or Is It Just A Myth？

00:00:00.240 so it's not like i i spend my nights thinking about fat people it's the internet you make fun

00:00:06.000 of things it's a show it is what it is however what is annoying to me is that it will become

00:00:11.520 somebody else's problem then i will i don't think that fat shaming helps anyone lose weight

00:00:17.280 and i think we lose weight the way that helps so much it helps so much sorry it helped you eva

00:00:27.120 oh my god fat shaming was the only way i lost weight i tried to lose weight for years i went

00:00:30.880 off and on with it and did all sorts of things and then hannah started tweeting being like i

00:00:34.640 told my sister to walk on a treadmill i said okay i'm gonna go walk

00:00:41.280 if it's the first time in my life i actually lost weight and actually kept it off yeah she looked

00:00:46.960 great eva i'm gonna ask you there like i said earlier my parents used to say that i would

00:00:56.320 spend more time trying to more time and effort trying to not do my chores than to actually do

00:01:01.840 them when i was younger is it that way with like body positivity and weight loss where you see

00:01:06.480 people spending more effort defending themselves being big or trying not to lose weight than just

00:01:11.680 losing weight no because they don't have to defend themselves anymore because everybody just says plus

00:01:16.640 size instead of saying you're obese cool okay all right i think it's interesting sorry go ahead i

00:01:26.320 think it's interesting that you're from the same family and you have the same opinion on the fat

00:01:30.480 shaming works for you it makes me wonder like when you grew up what was your household like in terms

00:01:36.880 of like did you have like kind of an almond mom like do you know what i mean no do you know what's funny

00:01:41.360 eva what used to be like a blue haired feminist like she used to have like blue hair and like she 1.00

00:01:47.120 did not agree with any of this stuff so thank you for calling me out hannah thank you thank you for

00:01:54.480 bringing up that very painful memory hey hey you're past it now but no i'm telling you no go ahead i'm

00:02:05.360 just saying the majority of fat people are like that they try to defend themselves like i like i i

00:02:11.200 live in colorado now and i'm telling you the people who i feel safest to talk to about what i believe

00:02:16.560 are not fat they're not overweight they're not plus size whatever you want to call it

00:02:21.280 i just i found that people who are bigger lean towards more like the feminism views and being like 0.71

00:02:28.800 being big is okay and like it's just not there's there's almost no excuse for being fat that you

00:02:36.480 can find even if you're disabled you can eat healthier and i know some of them still struggle

00:02:40.800 to lose weight there's things that make it harder for them but there's just no excuse to be absolutely

00:02:46.640 massive i think if that was true though there wouldn't be an obesity crisis if it was just that

00:02:51.280 simple everyone would just be thin they'd be like oh well this doesn't make sense let's just be thin

00:02:54.960 it's because people just know like i this is uh oh you you broke up oh no oh well i'm right anyway

00:03:12.000 you broke up for a second it makes so many apps nowadays that you oh i said it's actually

00:03:18.800 uh oh i think she's saying it's so easy because of the apps like i guess like my fitness pal and

00:03:26.320 stuff no i'm telling you that gpp i'll die on this hill yeah there's no excuse to be overweight people 0.74

00:03:34.720 just eat like shit and say i can't lose weight it's just not true as most of you know i have been 0.98

00:03:42.320 fighting on the front lines of the simp epidemic for years but i need to tell you about a quiet weapon 0.99

00:03:47.520 being ratcheted up against men that is rarely talked about it's not just the relentless anti-masculinity

00:03:53.040 propaganda and only fans hoes causing the societal issues that we discuss on this show did you know 0.98

00:03:58.880 that the average city's tap water contains trace pharmaceuticals and endocrine disruptors

00:04:03.760 this often includes estrogen from birth control the average adult consumes a credit card worth of

00:04:08.640 plastic every single week that's five grams of plastic a week on average so it's no wonder that

00:04:14.320 the average male's testosterone is half of what the average was 50 years ago testosterone levels

00:04:20.320 decline one percent a year and without a course correction we are headed towards extinction

00:05:15.760 that's c-h-o-q.com my name pearl is the discount code have you heard have you heard of vanity sizing pia

00:05:24.880 uh yeah yeah what do you think of vanity sizing i think it's really annoying because all of my clothes

00:05:30.880 are different in every different shop like um and like some shops don't carry a small enough size

00:05:38.800 because like the extra small is like a small not an extra you know what i mean things like that it

00:05:43.120 is annoying um and silly and i think it's apparent when you look at old clothes and stuff but i just

00:05:48.960 think that people again like if people were more accepting of themselves things like that wouldn't exist

00:05:53.040 because they wouldn't need to pretend that they're smaller to buy the clothes that they want i actually

00:05:57.680 agree with you but why can't they just say i'm fat instead of gaslighting us to to think they're not

00:06:04.000 fat but that's like if they just said hey i'm fat and i don't look good fat that's it like why does

00:06:12.960 why does it have to have the end bit on why can't you look good fat well because that's delusional to

00:06:17.600 think you do i mean you might look fat when you're young because you got like the youngness to you but

00:06:22.880 when you're old and fat you're like you could still get laid as a young fat person 0.65

00:06:30.400 when you're an old fat woman you're done cook yeah but if you're just talking about looks fading 0.99

00:06:35.600 everyone's looks fade when they get old everybody's ugly and saggy and old and gross eventually yeah i'm 0.98

00:06:40.560 gonna get i'm sorry not not as much i don't know i went to guys guys can hold on to it for a lot longer 0.98

00:06:49.280 but um go ahead doug here's the way that i see the effort of defending yourself when you're fat and 0.51

00:06:57.200 all the time it takes to do so so you know the the black community we come up with all these crazy 1.00

00:07:04.400 names right we have women with apostrophes and all sorts of you know one of my friends named her 1.00

00:07:10.640 daughter kyandria with an apostrophe and all sorts of extra ease and a's and stuff and and anyway so i see

00:07:17.680 people where uh asian people come here and they have asian names but an office they'll just have

00:07:24.400 you call them phil or alice because they know people won't be able to pronounce their name so why 0.83

00:07:30.160 fight it every single day but my people american black people would give their son or daughter a crazy 0.87

00:07:37.200 name and they'll spend their entire life correcting people on the name and it's like you only have so 0.64

00:07:42.640 much energy in a day why do you just accept your name except the fact that people can't say your

00:07:48.800 name like asian people do asian people are like look they're never going to be able to say my name

00:07:53.680 call me phil move on where and that's what it is with body positivity you only have so much time and

00:08:00.240 effort in a day why put yourself in a position where you have to defend that over and over every single

00:08:05.680 day why i think that's an injustice though like i think people should always make an effort to say

00:08:11.120 somebody's name i think that that's polite and civil

00:08:17.920 yeah but it's real world you know you can't go into i know you know what i mean you can't go and

00:08:22.480 like demand polite no that's just not realistic i know what you're saying but i still would be of the

00:08:28.320 opinion that like i'm like well i would always make an effort to say someone's name correctly so

00:08:32.080 why shouldn't everybody else in the same way that i don't think there's anything wrong with body

00:08:35.440 positivity i think it's fine for people to be fine with the way they are and so i i don't see why other

00:08:40.240 people should have such a problem with it okay so i'll tell you why i have a problem with it

00:08:44.800 okay i'll give it to you so it's not like i i spend my nights thinking about fat people okay i don't 0.74

00:08:52.000 really it's not like every day i'm just seething thinking about these fatties and wanting them to 0.98

00:08:58.320 lose weight you know they you guys are not you anymore but they're fun to dunk on right but

00:09:04.960 it's the internet you make fun of things it's a show it is what it is however what is annoying to

00:09:12.240 me is that it will become somebody else's problem yes if you get old enough and you get fat enough

00:09:18.960 there are going to be health issues and somebody is going to have to take care of you that's where

00:09:25.360 it's either going to be your husband um your father your brother it will become somebody else's

00:09:32.880 problem because you can't put the donut down or you don't get as much time with your kids

00:09:38.800 so i it's not necessarily that you know i spend my nights thinking about fat people but i think it's a

00:09:46.400 shame that we want to say you're okay how you are and celebrate it because this is killing people

00:09:54.240 you know i know people that have died from being overweight so it would be the same to me as saying

00:10:00.000 like oh you should be okay with being a heroin addict it's not like i spend my nights you know

00:10:06.720 thinking about heroin addicts but when i see somebody say heroin positive i kind of look at them funny

00:10:12.480 i know what i i understand exactly what you're saying and i don't disagree with you from that

00:10:18.960 like health perspective i don't i don't agree with health at any size i don't think that should be

00:10:24.400 put across anyway i do think that there needs to be some sort of address for like how society is so

00:10:30.320 comfortable with everybody being overweight and i think the food is making us fat i think advertisers

00:10:34.080 make us fat i agree with i think it was doug earlier saying that they should put more stuff

00:10:38.640 on fatty foods and stuff like warnings like there are on cigarettes i agree with you but i still don't

00:10:45.120 think going off at an individual is gonna help them to better themselves anyway like i just think that

00:10:51.520 you should be able to be happy with who you are while being encouraged to better yourself well yes

00:10:57.280 but i i still think even if you're doing your day-to-day stuff it becomes someone else's problem

00:11:02.640 like i'll go on an airplane and there's some like i fly all the time i hate it when i have a fat

00:11:09.200 person next to me yeah because you're spilling into my seat this isn't fair we get off the

00:11:15.040 like you get off the plane and they're like wobbling they walk really slow and again it's not

00:11:20.480 like i spend my days thinking about them um i'm just trying to get around them so i can keep walking

00:11:26.800 but when you get enough of them it makes life just more annoying and then becomes someone else's problem

00:11:35.200 does that make sense it's also like i hate when i have a tall person behind me and their knees are

00:11:39.360 in my seat the seats are just too small like airlines yeah but a tall person can't control that

00:11:45.600 that that's genetics i know just being tall fat is food yeah i i agree with you but i think there's a

00:11:54.000 reason that people are so fat and i don't think it's directly their fault all the time but it's

00:11:58.480 interesting because i don't understand how you could say that when you lost the weight do you know what i

00:12:02.400 mean like because i don't know when i started tracking what i was eating i couldn't believe i wasn't

00:12:07.760 fatter and i was like i should i for me it was like i didn't want to weigh my food i would rather just work

00:12:12.880 out and i just i was always putting that off but it was my own fault um but yeah go ahead i think

00:12:21.360 it's because i saw people's reactions to my weight loss and i realized how like kind of delulu people

00:12:26.880 are generally about weight and weight loss and eating disorders and all of those things like there

00:12:31.840 is a societal problem where people do not know what healthy is like people think because i don't eat

00:12:37.360 like because i don't eat chocolate i don't eat chocolate generally if i have chocolate i will really

00:12:42.240 want chocolate i have people push desserts on me all the time and they think it's weird that i won't

00:12:47.200 have a dessert and it's like that is that's a societal problem at a certain point because why do

00:12:53.680 you think it's so like odd that i don't want to eat that do you know what do you know what i'm saying

00:12:58.320 like no i know what you're saying when you try to i have a friend who he you know it's funny you say

00:13:04.320 shaving doesn't work but i've gotten two people to lose like 40 pounds but i do yeah there's a guy um

00:13:12.400 i i went to england right when i came back he was my brother's friend and like i grew up with him and

00:13:18.320 i came back and i'm like what happened man he was like 50 pounds heavier and i've worked out with him

00:13:25.040 every day for like a year or something and now he's lost a bunch of weight but i went to his um

00:13:30.000 family's house and the mom was in his ear saying like oh you shouldn't have to lose weight and i'm

00:13:35.440 like he's he's trying so hard i see him every day he looks so good like why are you trying to fatten him

00:13:42.400 up so i totally i actually really agree with you like fat people they always try to drag you down

00:13:49.360 it's like they want you to stay i think eva didn't you lose a friend getting thin didn't you lose your

00:13:54.800 fat friend or making that up there was more to it than that but that was part of the thing

00:14:02.560 is that i actually gained so much weight being her friend because you just want to go eat out

00:14:07.120 24 7 and like there'd be times we'd go to mcdonald's or something like like some fast food place

00:14:12.800 and we would both get like a meal you know like they have the pre-made ones and like i wouldn't finish

00:14:17.120 mine and she would finish it for me and i'm like how are you eating so much and then two hours later

00:14:21.360 she'd be hungry again i'm like what the actual hell but that that to me sounds like addiction

00:14:28.400 like i think a lot of people are addicted to food like if you want to get in two hours you're not hungry

00:14:34.960 yeah the um i agree with the food addiction but that's how i hear it when i hear body positivity

00:14:41.680 to me it sounds like addiction that's how i hear it it's like addiction positive food addiction

00:14:47.360 positivity i have a question for for pia so you shouldn't shame people uh so the okay outside

00:14:55.760 of shame the only time i've seen someone lose weight is is there is a there is a um an event

00:15:03.120 that happens like i had a friend that gave a bunch of weight after she got married and she broke her leg

00:15:07.760 she had never flown on a plane before so she's gonna fly from pennsylvania to california and she sat on

00:15:14.080 the plane and she couldn't buckle her seat belt so she hit the little call button and she called the

00:15:19.680 the flight attendant over and said i can't buckle my seat belt and the flight attendant was like oh

00:15:26.640 you need a seat belt extender i'll be right back oh my god and and then of course the lady comes back 1.00

00:15:36.160 holding the sepa extender like outstretched and two fingers like it's the nastiest thing ever and everyone

00:15:41.920 saw it it was so embarrassing so she had to wear her first time on a plane she had to wear a seat belt

00:15:47.440 extended on the way there and the way back and she lost 70 pounds after that so okay outside of a event 0.54

00:15:54.560 and if you can't fat shame people how can you get them to lose weight like how would you communicate

00:16:00.400 to a person that you cared about who's fat like how would you let them know yeah not a not a stranger

00:16:06.000 but someone you love yeah i think you have to be really close to somebody to approach them about

00:16:10.480 that kind of thing and i would ask them what was going on with them i think would be my first i

00:16:15.200 would first come at it from a mental health point of view and be like are you like if i saw someone

00:16:18.560 gaining a lot of weight for example not someone that hadn't been fat and i'm getting a lot of

00:16:21.440 weight i'd be like are you okay like what's up in the same way i would if someone lost all the weight

00:16:24.480 i'd be like are you like all right is that everything good with you and i think that's totally

00:16:28.720 fair and i have had a lot of those like quite positive conversations when i lost weight as well

00:16:32.080 that like i almost wish people had had with me when i was gaining the weight just been like hey you

00:16:35.200 okay like there's nothing i could do you know what i mean like and i know pearl you're saying you shamed somebody

00:16:39.280 into losing those weight but it actually sounds like you were really supportive of them and you

00:16:42.240 worked out with them loads that's the kind of thing that i found really helpful when i was

00:16:46.240 losing weight was people being genuinely supportive and being like oh do you want to go for a run

00:16:49.600 together and stuff like that that was what was helpful to me what did i say to eva eva was the text

00:16:55.680 i sent you oh no i just sent him a picture on the treadmill it was weird i said where are you

00:17:01.040 should be on the treadmill yeah i said where you should be oh did you tweet that i think i remember

00:17:08.240 seeing you tweet that i asked her i asked her if i could tweet it first i always ask i never just tweet

00:17:15.280 the time yes i don't care i just thought like i know i know i'm fat people can

00:17:30.240 you
