00:00:00.000 Danielle Smith has ignited the Alberta independence movement with her ultimatum to the prime minister.
00:00:06.020 She just met with Mark Carney again, and with the Great Cup deadline coming fast,
00:00:11.360 she's still hoping he'll fix this nine bad laws that are strangling Alberta's energy sector.
00:00:17.080 She's talking about negotiation, about hope, about maybe getting a signal from Ottawa.
00:00:23.800 But here's what I keep wondering.
00:00:25.240 Why is she still trying so hard to make this country work when Ottawa clearly isn't?
00:00:31.960 Carney hasn't repealed a single one of those laws.
00:00:34.680 Not the tanker ban, not the emissions cap,
00:00:37.200 not one piece of the complete mess that's been killing investment in Alberta for years.
00:00:42.220 And yeah, he paused the EV rules mandate or whatever, but that's just cosmetic.
00:00:46.380 Smith even floated the possibility of shipping more oil to the United States if Ottawa won't play ball,
00:00:52.200 which clearly shows just how bad things have gotten.
00:00:54.580 But if she knows it and we know it, why isn't she saying what half of Albertans are already thinking?
00:01:00.960 You know, why won't she just admit that maybe, just maybe this country isn't fixable anymore?
00:01:07.080 She keeps talking about unity, about deals, about hope.
00:01:10.020 But hope doesn't pay the bills when a federal government is actively choking your province.
00:01:15.300 And that's why the Alberta independence movement keeps growing.
00:01:18.060 Because people are tired of waiting for Ottawa to change.
00:01:22.600 And they're starting to wonder if their premier is, too.
00:01:26.860 Or if she's still afraid to say what actually comes next.
00:01:30.660 So like I said, a few months back, Premier Daniel Smith gave an ultimatum to Mark Carney and his liberal government,
00:01:37.980 saying that there were nine bad laws that were supposed to be repealed to, quote,
00:01:43.940 avoid a national unity crisis.
00:01:46.780 Basically threatening separation from the rest of Canada,
00:01:50.680 knowing that the independence movement in Alberta is as active as it has ever been.
00:01:58.340 Here's a tweet from Keith Wilson.
00:01:59.840 This week we find out, will Ottawa keep its policies holding Alberta back?
00:02:04.840 Premier Smith has set out clear, fair demands so Alberta can chart its own path to prosperity.
00:02:11.540 Here is what she's calling for.
00:02:14.600 Have a listen.
00:02:15.560 I will soon appoint a special negotiating team to represent our province in negotiations with the federal government
00:02:21.480 on the following reforms requested by our province.
00:02:25.000 We hope this will result in a binding agreement that Albertans can have confidence in.
00:02:29.840 Call it an Alberta Accord, if you will.
00:02:32.940 First, Alberta requires guaranteed corridor and port access to tidewater off the Pacific,
00:02:39.380 Arctic and Atlantic coasts for the international export of Alberta oil, gas, critical minerals
00:02:45.180 and other resources in amounts supported by the free market rather than by the dictates and whims of Ottawa.
00:02:52.200 Every province in the country other than Alberta and Saskatchewan have coastal port access
00:02:57.380 and no province needs it more given the size and value of our resources.
00:03:02.460 This will benefit all Canadians to the tune of trillions of dollars of economic activity,
00:03:07.720 including billions for First Nations partners.
00:03:11.480 Second, the federal government must end all federal interference in the development of provincial resources
00:03:18.120 by repealing the No New Pipelines Law, C-69, the oil tanker ban, the net zero electricity regulations,
00:03:25.960 the oil and gas emissions cap, the net zero vehicle mandate and any federal law or regulation
00:03:31.640 that purports to regulate industrial carbon emissions, plastics or the commercial free speech of energy companies.
00:03:38.980 These laws are destroying investment confidence and costing Canada and Alberta
00:03:43.260 hundreds of billions in investments each year.
00:03:46.360 They need to go.
00:03:47.020 The federal government must provide to Alberta the same per capita federal transfers and equalization
00:03:53.100 as is received by the other three largest provinces, Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia.
00:04:00.440 We have no issue with Alberta continuing to subsidize smaller provinces with their needs.
00:04:05.100 Heck, I do.
00:04:05.580 But there is no excuse for such large and powerful economies like Ontario, Quebec, B.C. or Alberta.
00:04:12.420 I have an issue with subsidizing any province, any province, particularly those that keep voting liberal.
00:04:19.720 I don't want to subsidize any of them.
00:04:21.520 Alberta money should stay in Alberta.
00:04:23.920 And it needs to end.
00:04:24.900 If these points can be agreed to by the federal government,
00:04:28.160 I am convinced it will not only make Alberta and Canada an infinitely stronger and more prosperous country,
00:04:34.680 but we'll eliminate the doubts a growing number of Albertans feel about the future of Alberta in Canada.
00:04:41.060 All right.
00:04:41.300 So this was Premier Smith a few months back, basically outlining her demands or requests,
00:04:47.240 whatever you want to call them, from the Prime Minister of Canada.
00:04:51.580 Mark Carney has now been in power for well over six months and he hasn't changed a single thing.
00:04:58.240 I mean, he did pause the EV mandate, the electric vehicle mandate.
00:05:02.200 But other than that, and by the way, it was a pause.
00:05:05.160 He didn't completely eliminate it.
00:05:07.120 He just paused it.
00:05:08.920 Other than that, he hasn't done anything.
00:05:10.900 The biggest one is the tanker ban, which is the stupidest thing ever.
00:05:14.700 You can't have an Alberta energy, Alberta oil tanker ban going on the B.C. coast.
00:05:21.120 But the U.S. has tankers going up and down from Alaska to California and Alaska to Washington State using the exact same waters all the time.
00:05:32.220 So, again, it's a nonsensical mandate.
00:05:35.020 It's just it's created to landlock Alberta energy.
00:05:38.860 OK, here we have another tweet from Keith Wilson, and it goes,
00:05:41.960 It's eight months of Mark Carney and Alberta's nine demands are still ignored.
00:05:47.320 No pipeline, no repeal of the bad laws, no respect for this province.
00:05:52.100 This is why more Albertans are choosing independence over illusion.
00:05:55.760 Hashtag Alberta independence.
00:05:58.140 Exactly.
00:05:59.260 And then you have a video which he posted of Pierre Poliev.
00:06:03.120 This is the leader of the so-called conservatives here in Canada.
00:06:07.600 He, I mean, he won't do much.
00:06:10.740 He's a politician.
00:06:11.880 He's not, you know, again, I call conservatives in Canada a liberal light.
00:06:17.740 Don't trust any of them.
00:06:19.100 But he does say things that make a lot of sense.
00:06:21.900 He does speak truth in this particular clip.
00:06:24.860 Let's have a listen.
00:06:26.500 We've been told in Alberta for weeks, if not months, that on Grey Cup week that we would get a win in Alberta.
00:06:34.060 And that win would be a pipeline to the West Coast.
00:06:37.700 It would be significant commitment to action on the so-called nine bad laws.
00:06:42.600 And that would all happen Grey Cup week.
00:06:44.960 That is to say, tomorrow.
00:06:46.760 We are also told somehow there might be some sort of memorandum of understanding between the province of Alberta and Carney.
00:06:54.260 That's just floating out there.
00:06:55.500 I don't know if that's confirmed.
00:06:56.900 What are your thoughts?
00:06:57.880 Because for weeks, months, we've been promised that Grey Cup week, the stamps aren't in, neither is Edmonton, but that Alberta would get a win on both of those files.
00:07:07.560 Well, tomorrow, you know, it reminds me when you go into the pub, the Liberals are like that pub that has that sign on the wall that says free beer tomorrow.
00:07:14.660 And so you come back the next day and it still says free beer tomorrow.
00:07:17.800 And you keep coming back day after day for the promise of free beer and the price of beer continues to rise and rise and rise.
00:07:23.240 So they keep telling us that something is going to happen tomorrow.
00:07:26.780 Mark Carney has been prime minister for eight months, promising to move at, quote, unimaginable speeds.
00:07:31.840 Get out of the way and get rid of the liberal industrial carbon tax so that we can actually produce enough oil to fill a future pipeline.
00:07:37.920 Get out of the way, Mark Carney, and do it now.
00:07:40.560 It has been eight months.
00:07:42.040 We don't need Mark Carney to put on a hard hat and hold another photo op.
00:07:45.700 He's had many countless photo ops in the last eight months.
00:07:49.480 While investment flees and our industrial sector leaves to the United States of America, he has not got shovels in the ground on anything.
00:07:58.300 Now, I suspect there will be some sort of, quote, unquote, memorandum.
00:08:02.060 You know, you know something?
00:08:03.320 Memorandums don't pay the bills.
00:08:05.100 We need shovels and ground.
00:08:06.340 So Mark Carney should get out of the way and tell us on what date will shovels be in the ground on a new million barrel a day pipeline from Hardesty, Alberta to Prince Rupert or Kitimat, British Columbia.
00:08:18.360 Yeah, that's all he's got to do.
00:08:19.840 I mean, for what it's worth, this guy spoke the truth.
00:08:23.220 That's actually what needs to happen in Canada.
00:08:25.920 It's just the liberal government needs to get out of the way because the only thing keeping Alberta landlocked is the policies by the liberal government.
00:08:35.020 The East keeping our resources locked, keeping them in the ground, which is their goal.
00:08:42.000 They've said it.
00:08:42.580 They want to keep them in the ground.
00:08:43.640 They don't want they want green energy.
00:08:45.220 They want their green scam and all that stuff.
00:08:47.420 They don't want to use Alberta oil.
00:08:49.220 However, they do want to continue getting the money from Alberta to continue to bribe Quebec and other provinces.
00:08:57.380 We have a tweet by Mark Nixon, a more recent clip of Premier Danielle Smith speaking about her desire for the liberal government to make certain changes,
00:09:08.680 changing those nine bad laws so that the energy industry in Alberta can actually prosper and progress.
00:09:14.960 Tweet goes, Danielle Smith just called out Mark Carney's nine bad laws, strangling Alberta's economy.
00:09:22.460 If they're not removed, Alberta will separate from Canada.
00:09:25.960 Plain and simple.
00:09:27.220 The clock is ticking.
00:09:28.460 Of course, we're home to an abundance of natural resources, and we continue to champion free trade, free markets, and free enterprise.
00:09:37.060 Alberta is a strong proponent of removing internal trade barriers in Canada because we know open trade equals stronger business.
00:09:45.240 We removed 75% of Alberta's exceptions under the Canada Free Trade Agreement, and we continue to push for greater labour mobility, fewer regulatory barriers, and increased investment opportunities.
00:09:56.340 Our government is dedicated to creating jobs for Albertans, Quebecers, and Canadians, and growing our province's economy within a united Canada.
00:10:04.840 And the key word here is united.
00:10:07.580 She just keeps saying that.
00:10:09.260 And it's like, lady, half of Alberta, 40 to 50% of Albertans are done with the whole united thing.
00:10:17.580 And I would dare say more because those polls normally come from mainstream news agencies, mainstream pollsters that are paid to suppress real support, that do it with certain methodology that doesn't really take into account the real support behind a certain cause.
00:10:38.500 And the thing with Alberta independence is that it is heavily represented in rural Alberta.
00:10:45.340 Hard-working Albertans from small towns and small cities are the ones that support Alberta independence the most, and those tend to be underrepresented in most polls.
00:10:56.260 So when she talks about, ah, we want to create jobs in Alberta, but also in Quebec and whatever else, you're not speaking for Albertans, particularly not for your base, which is 70%, 66% to 70% for Alberta independence.
00:11:13.740 And we're going to end up with an article from the National Post titled, Danielle Smith says she's giving Carney until Grey Cup to fix the, quote, nine bad laws.
00:11:26.100 Smith was taking questions from the media a day after meeting briefly with Carney just before he left Ottawa for a visit to Washington, D.C.
00:11:34.460 All the while, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is softening an ultimatum she gave Prime Minister Mark Carney several months ago, saying she hopes to negotiate a resolution of the nine federal laws she says are throttling Alberta's oil and gas sector by Grey Cup.
00:11:51.500 I can tell you, quote, I can tell you that we are hoping to have some kind of agreement with the Prime Minister by Grey Cup, where he gives a clear indication that he's prepared to address the nine laws that have created an investment climate that is hostile to private investment, Smith told reporters in Ottawa on Tuesday.
00:12:12.500 Smith was taking questions from the media a day after meeting briefly with Carney just before he left Ottawa for a visit to Washington, D.C.
00:12:20.520 She wouldn't divulge too many details from the meeting, but said she was very hopeful that she and Carney could reach an agreement on the nine so-called bad laws.
00:12:34.100 The one thing that people have said that I agree with is a memorandum of understanding, which is the word that Danielle Smith has been using as some sort of win that she could extract from the Carney liberals out of this whole negotiation thing.
00:12:52.100 She thinks that she thinks that she thinks that she thinks that she thinks that that is going to appease Albertans.
00:12:57.180 I don't I don't know that that'll do it. I don't think so.
00:13:00.440 Short of a real pipeline and like real a date when shovels are going to be on the ground.
00:13:07.160 Short of that, I don't know that that moves the needle at all.
00:13:10.960 Most Albertans who support independence are dead set that Alberta would be much better off going it alone.
00:13:17.860 That we would be able to negotiate pipelines from a stronger position if we were independent.
00:13:24.700 That we could possibly create some sort of deal with the United States where like there's open trade.
00:13:32.080 There's no border economically between the United States and Alberta.
00:13:36.680 Matter of fact, the United States has been much more friendly to Alberta businesses than the rest of Canada has ever been.
00:13:44.200 So, again, even a pipeline, I don't think will lower the support, let alone a freaking MOU memorandum or whatever.
00:13:55.680 That's just words. And we know that liberals lie all the time, especially to Alberta.
00:14:01.820 So we'll see what happens.
00:14:03.700 Hey, if you've made it this far, thank you so much for watching.
