Transcript

00:00:00.000 Alberta has an Ottawa problem.
00:00:03.180 For the last 10 years, Ottawa, led by successive Liberal governments,
00:00:07.720 has taken direct aim at Alberta's core industry.
00:00:10.800 This is an opportunity for you to present how you feel about those topics.
00:00:14.980 I would like to see Alberta collect 100% of the taxes
00:00:18.600 and then send to Ottawa what we think they deserve.
00:00:22.260 My last paycheck, I put $1,700 toward the CPP.
00:00:25.780 I would rather that be in Alberta for Alberta infrastructure.
00:00:30.000 Canada itself became autonomous from Britain
00:00:35.180 through a process called responsible government.
00:00:37.300 And power should be devolved closer to the people being governed.
00:00:41.020 If you look at Section 95 of the Constitution, it's a special section.
00:00:45.000 It says that the provincial legislatures shall make laws on immigration and agriculture
00:00:49.800 and from time to time, the federal government will make laws.
00:00:53.700 We've reversed it.
00:00:54.520 We've allowed the federal government to take over complete control over both of those areas
00:00:58.080 and from time to time, we make laws.
00:00:59.680 Massive immigration is not actually the skill set that we're looking for
00:01:03.900 with very little control on the numbers.
00:01:06.640 And that's putting huge pressure on health service,
00:01:09.360 putting huge pressure on education, on schools, on housing, on cost of living.
00:01:13.520 I met with the new police chief in Calgary,
00:01:15.500 was very delighted at the collaboration that they're having with the sheriffs.
00:01:19.060 Who likes the APP?
00:01:22.480 And who would prefer no Alberta pension plan?
00:01:27.980 Alberta is a state of mind.
00:01:29.620 It's an incredible, incredible culture, Western Canada.
00:01:32.080 I think the difference of opinion just shows that this is important to everyone.
00:01:38.300 Alberta, year after year, has $20 to $25 billion that is siphoned out of our system to go to Ottawa
00:01:45.860 so that it can be spent mostly in Quebec, but also in other places that vote liberal.
00:01:50.800 We have been watching this for years.
00:01:53.320 $600 billion in the last 40 or 50 years that have been taken out of this province.
00:01:58.940 You don't think we might be able to do a little bit more on social spending
00:02:01.940 if those $20 to $25 billion stayed here?
00:02:04.580 You don't think we'd be able to cut taxes a bit if those $20 to $25 billion stayed here?
00:02:09.780 It is $5,000 per Albertan that every single year gets transferred out of this province
00:02:18.860 for political reasons so that the liberals can continue to spend it in places that vote liberal.
00:02:25.040 That is what is happening in the province and in the country.
00:02:28.220 Thank you.
