00:00:00.000 The United States is not interested in negotiating with Canada anymore.
00:00:04.360 They're moving on and no longer view this country as the ally it once was.
00:00:09.540 President Donald Trump has indicated he has zero, zero intention to meet with Canada's
00:00:14.920 prime minister.
00:00:16.100 Really an unprecedented situation where the two countries barely speak to each other,
00:00:20.820 let alone negotiate a deal.
00:00:23.460 Let's get into the video.
00:00:24.860 Okay, to try to understand what's going on between the two countries, I have an interview
00:00:29.940 here from the U.S. ambassador to Canada, where he kind of sheds some light into what's going
00:00:36.440 on.
00:00:37.340 Let's have a listen.
00:00:38.440 Additional 10% tariff on Canadian products.
00:00:41.700 He didn't give me any, you know, clear indication or any indication at all that he was in any
00:00:48.780 hurry to get back to the negotiating table and get an agreement.
00:00:53.520 While criticizing how Canadian media framed the recent breakdown of trade talks, the ambassador
00:00:58.440 said Ontario's anti-tariff ad and comments by other premiers was akin to meddling in American
00:01:05.940 affairs.
00:01:06.620 Doug Ford and E.B. were starting to play in domestic American politics, potentially affecting
00:01:14.640 a Supreme Court decision, potentially affecting politics, you know, an election that is eight
00:01:21.000 days out, uh, and for sure having an impact in the midterm elections.
00:01:26.000 Hookstra admits American businesses are grappling with the uncertainty caused by the strained trading
00:01:32.160 relationship between Canada and the U.S.
00:01:34.680 But after the contentious commercial, the U.S. is taking no blame for the current state of
00:01:40.440 the relationship.
00:01:41.180 Canada burnt the bridges with America.
00:01:44.640 I mean, it's hard to argue with what he's saying.
00:01:55.140 Imagine for a second that the roles were reversed and you have one or two governors south of the
00:02:01.540 border completely meddling into Canadian politics, running ads to try to get an outcome out of
00:02:09.900 Canadian politics.
00:02:10.900 You know, you have, say the governor of Montana running ads against policies imposed by Mark
00:02:17.020 Carney on Canadian soil.
00:02:18.900 It's just completely unacceptable.
00:02:21.100 That is what Doug Ford of Ontario is doing.
00:02:25.060 He's trying to influence American politics.
00:02:28.100 When you're doing this, you're basically a foreign agent meddling in American politics.
00:02:34.240 Again, have the roles be reversed and tell me how acceptable that is.
00:02:38.420 And so this is what I, what I'm referring to.
00:02:41.260 You have Doug Ford right here.
00:02:43.040 Listen to what he had to say.
00:02:44.040 I heard, uh, I heard that the president heard our ad, uh, I'm sure he wasn't too happy, but
00:02:49.660 it's real because it was coming from the best president the country has ever seen, Ronald
00:02:53.800 Reagan.
00:02:54.800 So it's, it is, it's, it's very effective.
00:02:57.920 It's probably one of the best ads I've ever seen.
00:03:00.920 And it's coming from Ronald Reagan's voice and it's going to be focused, uh, on right across
00:03:05.580 the, the country, but also in a Republican held areas, because what I feel the Reagan
00:03:12.180 Republicans are going to be fighting with a MAGA group and let's hope, uh, Reagan Republicans.
00:03:18.480 Do these people, I wonder if these people took any sort of diplomacy course or anything like
00:03:24.980 that, like, how does he think knowing who he's negotiating or trying to negotiate with
00:03:32.100 Donald Trump, how does he think that the declarations he just made are going to help his negotiating
00:03:40.580 position?
00:03:41.080 I'm trying to understand.
00:03:43.220 I'm trying to give these people the benefit of the doubt, but the more I listened to them,
00:03:48.060 the more it seems like they actually want negotiations to fail because anybody who knows
00:03:55.060 Donald Trump and how he operates knows Donald Trump, this will make it to him.
00:03:59.300 This video of Doug Ford talking the way he's talking, throwing shade at Donald Trump, saying
00:04:05.340 that, you know, uh, Reagan was the greatest president ever, basically saying Trump is nowhere
00:04:11.820 near as good and, and then saying that his goal is to divide Donald Trump's base, the Reagan
00:04:19.940 Republicans versus the MAGA Republicans.
00:04:23.100 Like how does that help you negotiate with president Trump?
00:04:28.600 I honestly believe these people are trying to, are trying to sabotage negotiations, but pretend
00:04:35.260 like they're negotiating.
00:04:36.660 So I wouldn't be surprised if all they're doing is just theater.
00:04:39.820 It's just theatrics and pretending like they're trying to get a deal with the U S but keeping
00:04:45.140 their elbows up and whatever.
00:04:47.000 When in reality, they want to just get closer to China.
00:04:49.760 So in all of this, we have president Trump's response from air force one, where he addressed
00:04:54.660 what Doug Ford had to say.
00:04:56.700 Let's listen.
00:04:57.700 This is an ad that was an ad run by a provincial government in Canada.
00:05:00.940 Why you have a federal government?
00:05:02.500 Because the, uh, whether it's provincial or Canada itself, they all know exactly what the
00:05:06.720 ad was.
00:05:07.720 Uh, the, uh, prime minister knew, everybody knew the prime minister knew what the ad was.
00:05:13.040 We don't want to meet with him.
00:05:17.660 I'm not going to be meeting with him for a while.
00:05:19.660 I'm very happy with the deal we have right now with Canada and we're going to let it ride.
00:05:24.040 He says, we're very happy with the deal we have with Canada currently.
00:05:27.280 I mean, it's a $30 trillion economy versus a $2 trillion economy.
00:05:33.980 Canada needs a deal way more than the U S does.
00:05:36.980 As much as Carney will lie to the Canadian people and have them become all delusional thinking,
00:05:43.360 Oh, we're going to show the Americans numbers.
00:05:46.720 Don't care about your feelings or your ideology economics.
00:05:50.800 Doesn't care.
00:05:51.800 Here you have Doug Ford, uh, looking like he F owed after effing around, uh, looks like
00:05:59.480 he's about to cry.
00:06:01.680 Let's hear what he had to say like, yeah, well, sure, sure enough.
00:06:05.000 Yeah.
00:06:06.000 Well, of course, Daniel Smith doesn't like the ads because she's not getting her auto
00:06:09.120 annihilated or manufacturing or steel, her life science sector.
00:06:13.420 She has a commodity called oil that Americans need and want.
00:06:17.020 So she's going to be fine on terror.
00:06:18.620 Won't be fine.
00:06:19.620 If we sign a lousy deal, I'd rather have no deal than a terrible deal that will cost jobs
00:06:25.060 here in Ontario.
00:06:26.060 So he's basically going after premier Danielle Smith of Alberta, because she's been saying
00:06:31.040 from the very beginning that the way to get the best deal possible is to exercise diplomacy.
00:06:37.140 Who would have thought that diplomacy would work better than attacking the person you're
00:06:41.900 trying to make a deal with?
00:06:43.420 So you have this guy saying he doesn't care.
00:06:45.160 He doesn't want to have a deal.
00:06:46.160 He'd rather have no deal than get a bad deal.
00:06:50.320 But you hear him crying every day that Canada doesn't have a deal.
00:06:55.420 He knows that the tariffs are having the effect that Trump wanted him to have.
00:07:00.880 You have more car makers, more manufacturers, more companies packing it up in Canada and heading
00:07:07.240 south to the United States.
00:07:08.920 And it's happening every day.
00:07:11.020 They're just losing car makers daily.
00:07:13.700 And they're heading to Detroit.
00:07:15.020 They're heading to Illinois.
00:07:16.520 They're heading south of the border, but they don't want to negotiate in good faith.
00:07:21.800 Like the ambassador said, Canada burnt that bridge.
00:07:24.920 It wasn't the United States.
00:07:26.300 If Canada wants the United States to open its market fully free trade, then Canada has to
00:07:31.180 do the same.
00:07:32.740 Canada has to open its market to the United States.
00:07:35.760 You can't complain about protectionism.
00:07:38.120 And you yourself are doing the exact same thing.
00:07:40.240 And this right here is what Doug Ford was complaining about in regards to Danielle Smith.
00:07:44.500 Danielle Smith has been from the very beginning.
00:07:47.120 She's been consistent saying that diplomacy is the way to get the best deal possible, not
00:07:52.880 by attacking the Trump administration.
00:07:54.680 So she says here, quote, I remain convinced that the path to a positive resolution with
00:08:01.680 our U.S. partners lies in strong, consistent diplomacy and a commitment to working in good
00:08:07.620 faith towards shared priorities such as North American energy dominance.
00:08:13.240 To that end, I am pleased to see that Ontario's ad campaign is being suspended.
00:08:18.620 And I once again urge the federal government to continue negotiating to resolve these tariff
00:08:25.040 issues and restore a free and fair trade agreement with the United States while diversifying and
00:08:31.240 strengthening the Canadian economy by unleashing our world-class natural resource sector.
00:08:36.480 Well, that's the thing they're doing neither.
00:08:39.240 They're blocking pipelines, Alberta pipelines to tight water, and they're also attacking
00:08:44.980 Donald Trump.
00:08:45.980 Meanwhile, Trump is out in Japan making all kinds of deals.
00:08:48.980 That's the things you do when you just made a huge deal with Japan.
00:08:53.480 Japan, with an economy two to three times bigger than Canada, came and made a deal with
00:08:58.480 the United States because they know better than to be dumb enough to try to, oh, I'm going
00:09:02.740 to show the Americans.
00:09:03.740 Because they know they're not, there's no economy that can show the Americans.
00:09:07.740 China even has to come to the table, let alone Canada.
00:09:11.740 But then again, most Canadian politicians are not known for using logic to run the country.
00:09:16.740 Here you have the Premier of British Columbia, David Eby, saying that he is going to run ads
00:09:23.740 of his own against the United States.
00:09:25.740 Let's see what he had to say.
00:09:26.740 The Premier David Eby says the province will go ahead with its own anti-tariff ads aimed
00:09:31.740 at the American public.
00:09:33.740 First of all, let me say that I support unambiguously Premier Ford's advertisements in the United States.
00:09:41.740 It is absolutely essential that we talk to Americans about the implications of tariffs, about the fact that trade policy in the United States right now is governed not by logic, not by economics, not by relationship, but by something else entirely and by one individual in the White House.
00:10:04.740 And the best example that I can give of that is the fact that Russia has better access to the U.S. market right now for softwood than Canada does.
00:10:12.740 So we will continue to work to get the word out about the unfair and absurd treatment of the United States of Canada.
00:10:17.740 But we can't control the man in the White House.
00:10:20.740 All we can do is control our own destiny by ensuring that we're working with trade partners that value the resources and the work that Canadians bring to the global economy.
00:10:29.740 Sure. Continue to do the exact same thing that got you where you're at now, literally the one country in the world who is not talking trade at all with the United States, where trade talks are completely stopped and terminated.
00:10:44.740 You're going to do some more of that. But then you're going to tell Canadians that you want to get a fair trade deal with the United States.
00:10:53.740 You can't make this stuff up. He knows that those ads are only going to make things worse.
00:10:58.740 They're doing this for political gain. They're left leaning. They know that their delusional base is going to be very happy.
00:11:04.740 Yeah, stick it to Trump while the Canadian economy continues to fall apart.
00:11:08.740 That's the reality of what's happening here.
00:11:11.740 Hey, if you've made it this far, thank you so much for watching.
