Summary

In this episode, I discuss the situation in Alberta and why it matters more than ever right now, and why the fight for sovereignty in the province is so important. I talk about the reasons why Alberta should leave the mess that is Canada, and how the United States and China are playing geopolitical chess with each other.

00:00:00.000 well folks this is it canada just picked a side and to no one's surprise it wasn't the peoples
00:00:08.400 it wasn't canadians and it definitely wasn't albertans it was communist china and the globalist
00:00:15.920 system that just took over all of ottawa and this is why the fight that's happening in alberta
00:00:22.320 matters more than ever right now because we are already in a secession movement alberta is
00:00:29.680 currently moving to separate and leave the mess that is canada behind this isn't a future theory
00:00:36.400 this isn't wishful thinking this is real action and it is happening as we speak people in alberta's
00:00:44.480 biggest city waiting to add their names to a conversation about the province's future alberta
00:00:49.680 would be better off if we separated from the rest of canada separatist sentiment gaining traction
00:00:55.680 recently as the group stay free alberta gathers signatures for a referendum on the province
00:01:01.440 leaving the country supporters say they've been on the losing end of federal policy continually
00:01:07.200 giving to the have-not provinces and never having pipelines and alberta is a natural partner for the
00:01:14.800 u.s uh they they have great resources the albertans are very independent people um rumors that they may
00:01:23.040 have a referendum on whether they want to stay in canada or not sounds like you may know something up
00:01:27.600 there uh what uh people are saying people people people are talking people are talking people want
00:01:35.440 uh sovereignty they they want what the u.s has got well i think it's more than obvious at this point that
00:01:41.520 alberta just chose alberta first and america first as canada continues to bow down to communist china
00:01:50.640 and i know that sounds dramatic but honestly just look at what's happening i mean on one side you've
00:01:55.760 got alberta still working with the united states still trying to make deals and still treating america
00:02:02.720 like her most important ally because it is and on the other hand you've got ottawa you've got mark
00:02:08.640 carney and the liberals opening the door to china importing tens of thousands of chinese electric
00:02:15.200 vehicles are basically no tariffs while the united states is literally warning canada not to become a
00:02:21.600 back door for chinese goods donald trump didn't even sugarcoat it he called carney governor he said
00:02:29.600 canada is turning into a drop-off port for china and he straight up warned if canada sides with china
00:02:36.720 the united states could slap a 100 tariff on canadian goods think about how insane that is that is an
00:02:45.040 economy ending amount in tariffs the united states our biggest trading partner our biggest customer our
00:02:53.040 biggest security ally is basically saying do not let china use you against us and ottawa's response is well
00:03:01.840 yeah but chinese evs though and you know we gotta diversify and you know it's a new world order and
00:03:09.680 all of that you led a six-year study this followed canadian technology companies as they went into joint
00:03:15.120 ventures with chinese firms how did those partnerships typically play out well not well all of our uh more than
00:03:23.200 uh three dozen uh three dozen uh technology companies that i looked at uh many in clean energy ran into
00:03:30.880 significant problems uh one of the things that the chinese insist on is they have to have the majority
00:03:37.600 share of the joint venture and uh that's 70 80 even 90 percent of the joint venture which means also the
00:03:46.240 profits and uh it's 100 the canadian technology that's being made uh in china and then they have
00:03:54.080 various tactics that they use to take over the joint venture over time and ultimately the canadian
00:04:01.040 company often leaves and leaves behind their intellectual property and their factory equipment
00:04:07.200 and then the chinese partner becomes their international competitor abroad so these have been
00:04:13.760 uh bad news stories for many of our companies now here's where that story gets really interesting
00:04:22.080 while carney is causing up to beijing danielle smith the premier of alberta is doing the exact
00:04:28.800 opposite she's on record saying that she doesn't want this turning into a personal spat between trump
00:04:34.480 and carney she wants to keep the focus on making deals with the united states not china not brics not global
00:04:43.120 south or whatever that is the united states she's literally saying 97 percent of alberta's goods cross into
00:04:51.520 the u.s tariff free and her goal is to keep it that way and possibly even expand it meanwhile ottawa's out
00:05:00.720 here playing geopolitical chess with china a country that the united states military the u.s intelligence
00:05:08.560 community and basically every western government considers their number one strategic rival and
00:05:15.280 trump is saying it out loud at this point china will eat canada alive devour its businesses undermine
00:05:24.720 its economy and use canada as a tool against the united states to canada's detriment by the way and
00:05:32.640 whether you like trump or not this part is objectively true china does not do friendship deals china does
00:05:43.520 leverage china does control china does dependency and ottawa is walking straight into it but maybe that's
00:05:53.680 the plan maybe that is mark carney's plan all right let me move on to canada because president trump
00:06:00.080 issued a stark warning to canadian prime minister mark carney over canada's new trade deal with china
00:06:05.520 threatening 100 percent tariffs on ottawa if something is signed now i was in davos
00:06:11.440 and carney gave a speech in davos and it very much tried to undermine the president and the united states
00:06:18.880 so the president writes on truth social if governor carney thinks that he's going to make canada a drop-off
00:06:24.800 port for china to send goods and products into the united states he is sorely mistaken china will eat
00:06:30.480 canada alive completely devour it including the destruction of their businesses social fabric and
00:06:35.760 general way of life we have had james rajat as our um a representative in washington for the last number
00:06:42.960 of years and he has done just an amazing job in building relationships down there we had a real
00:06:47.920 opportunity in the last couple of years because the democrats were very concerned about energy
00:06:51.920 affordability and the republicans were very concerned about energy security and we're able to offer
00:06:57.280 a value proposition for both it's very concerning that mexico has been courting china as a way of
00:07:03.280 doing investment in their nation to draw out manufacturing from both america and canada the
00:07:09.840 the fact that lightheiser made a point of saying they are doing this it's hurting us it's hurting you
00:07:14.640 why do you keep on aligning yourselves with mexico you should look out for yourself that is that stayed
00:07:21.040 with me donald trump has made it very very clear that he thinks everybody is free riding on the
00:07:26.160 american military prowess so if we want to be able to continue to trade we've got to make sure that
00:07:32.080 we're meeting our obligation on our international spending for for defense to do whatever we can to
00:07:38.000 demonstrate that we are the exception and i think we'll be able to make that case so this is what this
00:07:42.960 really comes down to this isn't just about tariffs this isn't just about evs this isn't even just about
00:07:50.080 donald trump this is about a fundamental choice do you align with the world's largest democratic economy
00:07:58.080 your neighbor your oldest and biggest customer your biggest security partner or do you align with a
00:08:04.640 communist regime that uses trade as a weapon and sees western countries as adversaries well alberta has
00:08:13.920 made its choice alberta said america and alberta first energy first real trade first real alliances first
00:08:25.680 well maybe the best way to describe it is for people to examine how scared and fearful they are
00:08:32.160 that donald trump will crush their economy that's how scared and fearful albertans are that the liberals
00:08:37.040 will continue to crush our economy how all of the damage that we have seen over the last 10 years most of
00:08:43.200 it has come from bad federal policy coming out of the alliance between the liberals and the nds to
00:08:48.480 target our industry and to put in punitive policies that are designed to keep our oil and gas in the
00:08:53.200 ground ottawa made a different choice though they said cheap chinese goods carnies own profits and let's
00:09:00.960 just hope and see what happens and now the united states is basically saying do not drag us into this
00:09:08.800 because you don't want to see what happens next so the real question is is canada actually moving away
00:09:16.080 from the united states or is ottawa just so desperate for global relevance that they're willing to play
00:09:22.880 both sides and risk burning their most important ally because one province clearly gets it and the rest of
00:09:32.160 the country seems determined to learn this lesson the hard way well thank you for watching if you want
