00:00:00.000 Now we have President Trump again, but he won't be there forever.
00:00:03.920 So this timeline is incredibly important for Alberta and Saskatchewan as they look to become independent.
00:00:10.580 These provinces have an ally in the White House currently, but we don't know what that'll look like after 2028.
00:00:17.720 That would really provide us with some tremendous opportunities to expand a number of industries,
00:00:23.320 not just the oil and gas industry in Alberta and Saskatchewan, but open up some rail capacity for us in the potash industry,
00:00:31.520 for us in the agricultural industry, as well as shrink the basis on every barrel of oil is there,
00:00:37.360 which essentially is, you know, a $10 to $12 price increase for Western Canadian oil.
00:00:42.040 We've talked to all the players who are potentially going to be able to partner to make that happen,
00:00:46.260 and I'm pleased to see that it's elevated.
00:00:48.420 I think that would be good for us, and it would also be good for the United States.
00:00:51.460 Well, like I said before, Alberta and Saskatchewan will not be denied.
00:00:57.100 The days of just going with the flow and hoping for the best outcome are over.
00:01:02.260 These two provinces are united in standing up to the woke liberal government out in Ottawa,
00:01:07.780 and they're not taking no for an answer anymore,
00:01:11.420 particularly when it comes to the development of their oil and gas industry.
00:01:16.300 You see, for the longest time, the liberal government here in Canada
00:01:21.120 has made it its mission, basically, to eradicate oil and gas
00:01:25.980 in the name of implementing some sort of imaginary green utopia
00:01:30.900 in a country, of course, where temperatures are unbearably cold
00:01:35.800 for six months out of every year.
00:01:38.180 As a result of this, the Canadian government has caused enormous damage
00:01:43.260 to the economies of both Alberta and Saskatchewan for well over a decade,
00:01:48.880 affecting millions of livelihoods and people who call these two provinces home.
00:01:54.460 But the West has had enough, and they're taking matters into their own hands,
00:01:59.640 leaving Mark Carney with no choice but to try to save face by welcoming the inevitable.
00:02:05.340 Let's get into the video.

00:02:11.600 I appreciate it.
00:02:13.800 In Washington, at a game, the eastern press was saying,
00:02:17.780 oh, she's down there dealing with Trump.
00:02:19.940 What's he like, first of all?
00:02:21.280 He's open to being convinced by a good argument.
00:02:23.340 He said yes, and what you saw is that he also said he'd like to see a restart
00:02:27.060 of something like a Keystone XL pipeline, maybe a different route.
00:02:30.860 And so that's how I'm proceeding.
00:02:33.420 I know that the Americans under this president would be interested
00:02:37.720 in finding a way to get more product down to the U.S.
00:02:39.880 because it just makes sense.
00:02:41.320 We can backfill into the U.S. to keep prices low for their consumers.
00:02:45.000 That allows them to export internationally,
00:02:47.240 which satisfies their national security goals.
00:02:50.500 And it's really a perfect partnership.
00:02:52.220 I think that's why we don't have tariffs on oil and gas right now
00:02:54.360 is because it is such a good relationship.
00:02:56.500 Well, I can tell you that Albertans are questioning
00:02:59.560 whether Canada works, and I'm not telling anything you don't know.
00:03:03.820 There's a very active group that thinks Canada's broken.
00:03:07.240 And so I suppose I could just go down to the United States
00:03:10.760 and start working with American counterparts
00:03:12.860 to see if we can build more pipelines.
00:03:14.980 They've expressed an interest in restarting the Keystone XL.
00:03:17.560 You see, Danielle Smith is basically letting the government of Canada know
00:03:21.260 that she will not put up with the status quo.
00:03:23.880 If the rest of Canada don't see the value in the energy industry
00:03:28.640 of Alberta and Saskatchewan,
00:03:30.200 then they'll just go ahead and continue integrating further
00:03:33.700 with the United States,
00:03:35.040 which is a willing partner who actually wants to work with us
00:03:39.420 instead of demonizing our industries.
00:03:43.420 So Mark Carney notices this, right?
00:03:45.740 The fact that Alberta and Saskatchewan are basically moving ahead
00:03:49.220 and trying to make their own deals with the United States.
00:03:53.160 And he jumps in front of the issue like the snaky politician that he is.
00:03:58.940 So now he brings up the Keystone pipeline
00:04:01.980 that would bring crude oil from central Alberta down to the Gulf Coast.
00:04:06.940 And you know what?
00:04:07.940 He might claim that he's doing it for the sake of Alberta and Saskatchewan,
00:04:11.780 but I don't think anybody will be dumb enough to believe him, honestly.
00:04:15.940 Is it the revival of a pipe dream?
00:04:18.740 The Keystone XL pipeline expansion project cancelled twice,
00:04:22.300 may be back on the table.
00:04:23.660 CTV News has learned it was discussed
00:04:25.500 during the Prime Minister's meeting with President Donald Trump
00:04:28.040 at the White House yesterday.
00:04:29.640 But just how serious is Mark Carney
00:04:31.620 in bringing back that shelved proposal?
00:04:34.280 Tyson Fedor reports.
00:04:35.860 Prime Minister, did you and Mr. Trump agree
00:04:38.560 to revive the Keystone XL pipeline?
00:04:40.580 Very good discussions on a wide range of issues
00:04:42.620 and I look forward to talking to Parliament.
00:04:43.920 A return to Ottawa for the Prime Minister
00:04:46.140 as sources tell CTV News
00:04:47.720 he floated the idea of a Keystone XL expansion revival.
00:04:51.540 We should build more pipelines.
00:04:53.000 Any pipelines are good pipeline, we just need more delivery.
00:04:55.280 TC Energy's controversial project dates back to 2008
00:04:58.660 and was to carry crude from Hardesty, Alberta to Nebraska.
00:05:02.240 But it was rejected by U.S. President Barack Obama,
00:05:04.880 then revived in Donald Trump's first term
00:05:06.880 and cancelled again in 2021
00:05:08.620 under the Joe Biden administration.
00:05:11.120 But Trump revoked that order this year.
00:05:13.100 The project would link energy between the two countries
00:05:15.440 and could serve as a relief measure
00:05:16.880 for steel and aluminum tariffs.
00:05:18.720 Certainly it could be another one of the levers
00:05:21.000 that increases North American energy security
00:05:23.420 and so it certainly warrants exploring.
00:05:26.000 It comes as Alberta and B.C. squabble
00:05:27.740 over a new pipeline to the B.C. north coast
00:05:29.740 with Premier David Eby opposed
00:05:31.620 and Premier Daniel Smith seeking routes within Canada
00:05:34.060 to export Alberta energy.
00:05:35.980 A former TC Energy executive
00:05:37.460 who worked on the initial Keystone proposal
00:05:39.540 says this could benefit Canada's energy sector
00:05:42.260 if Mark Carney is serious.
00:05:44.360 If Mark Carney sends the right signals,
00:05:47.280 there will be a proponent.
00:05:49.000 It avoids the issue of having to get the concurrence
00:05:51.600 of British Columbia
00:05:52.300 and all of the much more unsettled circumstances
00:05:55.860 with respect to land claims.
00:05:58.500 The question, however, still is there
00:06:00.880 that the industry itself may prefer a West Coast option
00:06:04.940 because of the greater optionality.
00:06:06.640 The project aimed to carry more than 800,000 barrels of oil
00:06:09.900 a day south of the border.
00:06:11.820 Its failure cost the Alberta government
00:06:13.400 more than $1.3 billion.
00:06:16.060 And this is why timing is everything
00:06:18.360 from developing the energy industry
00:06:21.000 to pursuing independence.
00:06:24.000 You can't waste time.
00:06:25.780 The Keystone XL pipeline was moving forward
00:06:28.320 without an issue up until 2021
00:06:30.660 when Biden got into office
00:06:32.980 and we all know what he did.
00:06:34.560 Now we have President Trump again,
00:06:37.360 but he won't be there forever.
00:06:38.880 So this timeline is incredibly important
00:06:41.360 for Alberta and Saskatchewan
00:06:42.680 as they look to become independent.
00:06:45.520 These provinces have an ally
00:06:47.100 in the White House currently,
00:06:48.620 but we don't know what that'll look like
00:06:51.000 after 2028.
00:06:52.740 TV News has confirmed
00:06:53.660 the scrapped Keystone XL pipeline
00:06:56.420 did come up during Tuesday's meeting
00:06:58.260 between Prime Minister Mark Carney
00:06:59.760 and U.S. President Donald Trump.
00:07:01.660 Sources say it was raised in the context
00:07:03.780 of linking energy between the two countries.
00:07:06.360 TV also confirmed the conversation
00:07:08.520 was also related to possible relief
00:07:10.580 on steel and aluminum tariffs.
00:07:12.860 Now, in the original proposal for the expansion,
00:07:14.980 the new pipeline would have a section
00:07:16.360 crossing from Alberta
00:07:17.680 through southwestern Saskatchewan into Montana.
00:07:20.780 An existing Keystone pipeline
00:07:22.400 already runs a more direct line
00:07:24.500 through the province
00:07:25.200 before turning south from Manitoba
00:07:27.260 into the midwestern states.
00:07:28.940 The expansion proposal was halted in 2021
00:07:31.780 by the Joe Biden administration.
00:07:34.060 And Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe
00:07:35.300 says he's supportive of any efforts
00:07:37.280 to revive the project,
00:07:38.740 especially as Alberta tries to push forward
00:07:40.860 on plans for a separate pipeline
00:07:42.520 to the Canadian West Coast.
00:07:43.880 Hey, if you've made it this far,
