In this episode, I talk about why AOC is not a communist and why she's not a socialist. I also talk about the deep state, and why the right is the real threat to democracy. And I talk a little bit about AOC.
00:00:00.000I think the right, as negative as they are and is lacking in like clear policy proposals, in a weird way and in a kind of horrible way, they have the vision.
00:00:19.160And so let me try to prove what I'm saying.
00:00:25.620So as we know, there's been a general trend of like liberal hegemony.
00:00:58.260And there's some interesting studies of like voting patterns by profession.
00:01:04.140And so, you know, I can go back and look it up and just, you know, take my word for it at the moment.
00:01:11.900You know, if you're a corporate manager, if you are working for the government, if you're working in a university, et cetera, you are a liberal.
00:01:21.360If you own a small business, if you work with your hands, you're much more likely to be a conservative.
00:01:28.340So there's a class dynamic at play there that is actually really significant because institutional power is what it is.
00:01:40.360Getting rich, running a small business, you can go buy a jet ski, but you're not really impactful on the culture at all.
00:01:52.240In fact, that that person working for $30,000 a year at an art museum has more cultural impact or a journalist working for the same amount for Politico or whatever has more cultural impact than a guy with 10 million in the bank and three jet skis at his lake house just is what it is.
00:02:17.560It's maybe a real serious blind spot among conservatives that they are kind of more interested in that type of life as opposed to being an institutionalist.
00:02:29.480So the liberals are kind of defending liberalism.
00:02:35.940And one of my criticisms, and in fact, I've even gotten fairly caustic or poisonous with some of my criticisms of these liberals are just wringing their hands and fretting about conservatives.
00:02:51.920Like, in a way, conservatives are pushing the envelope.
00:02:57.620Liberals are worried about, you know, J6 was a threat to democracy and Trump's selection is a threat to democracy.
00:03:06.220And, you know, some of these conservative gatherings just get out of hand.
00:03:11.380They're basically just fretting over, like, the conservatives being raucous.
00:03:17.260But the question is, what is democracy?
00:03:20.320What is it exactly that you're protecting?
00:03:30.980And the reason is, is that liberals are kind of the conservatives at this point.
00:03:35.940They are managing and maintaining liberal hegemony.
00:03:40.240And the conservatives are the ones who might be dumb and, you know, politically violent and crude, et cetera, et cetera.
00:03:53.320But they're the ones who are kind of directly confronting it.
00:03:56.340They're the ones now talking about a fucking holy war.
00:04:00.340You know, I mean, you can't against the deep state or against the enemies of Jesus or whomever.
00:04:05.840But, like, you can't really put it more pointedly than that.
00:04:10.860And so, you know, the left at some point had, you know, the Soviet Union as an embodiment of utopia, as the end of history, as something to shoot for.
00:04:25.280Before that, it had a kind of idea of utopia that it could imagine.
00:04:30.720And now it's really bereft of those things.
00:04:33.300You know, like, isn't it in a way kind of like overly complimentary to say that AOC is a communist or a Marxist or something?
00:04:45.100You know, she sounds a lot like a liberal who's, I don't know, more favorable towards labor unions.
00:04:54.120She sounds kind of like a, I don't know, suburban white girl who thinks trans is kind of cool or something, or drag queens are cool.
00:05:20.900But an actual leftist who understood himself as in a revolutionary scenario would just laugh at this bourgeois pretender who claims to be a leftist or who's leading the left or whatever.
00:05:37.720And so the liberals, precisely because they're in charge, don't really have a motive or a kind of revolution.
00:05:49.360Now, the conservatives, there's no doubt that they have next to no policy promotions.
00:05:56.200Their rhetoric is stupid and nuts and their rallies are dumb, whatever.
00:06:05.220But they're the ones actually pushing for some kind of paradigmatic change, whether it's a national divorce, whether it's a holy war, whether it's, you know, firing half the government, whether it's a banning abortion everywhere.
00:06:25.400Whether even in the online space, whether it's, you know, sending women back to the kitchen and converting to medieval Catholicism.
00:06:35.460I mean, I don't support any of these things, but, and many of them are kind of LARPy or silly, but there's something, there's something there.
00:06:46.600They're not just defending an establishment.
00:06:48.460And so I do think that, like, at the end of the day, if we are headed towards a chaotic situation, which I think might very well be the case, I do think it's going to be like all of these dumb energies that in many ways we make fun of.
00:07:06.500I think that they will, you know, I think that they will, like, impact, they're going to, they're going to be the ones, they're going to be the aggressor, they're going to strike first.
00:07:15.720They're going to be the ones who are pushing for some radical change of some kind to the liberal status quo.
