REAL AF with Andy Frisella - 610. Real Talk： 3 Things I Wish I Had Known On Day 1 As An Entrepreneur

00:00:00.000 what is up guys it's andy for selling this is the show for the real let's say goodbye to the lies 0.98

00:00:21.000 the fakeness and delusions of modern society and welcome to motherfucking reality guys today we 0.61

00:00:25.260 have a real talk all right and i'm gonna try to do these more regularly because i think they're

00:00:31.420 important and i think you guys like them i'm gonna get right into it okay i'm gonna spare you the

00:00:35.780 normal long intro we're gonna get right into this you know i was thinking about what kind of value

00:00:40.080 i could provide for you guys and what i wanted to talk about and the idea was floated to me of what

00:00:46.060 are the top three things i wish i knew before starting on my entrepreneurship journey and i'm

00:00:52.880 gonna cover that with you guys today because entrepreneurship has become this glorified

00:00:58.960 uh solution to everybody's life and everybody wants to be an entrepreneur and everybody's talking

00:01:06.320 about entrepreneurship and there's just some things that you should know and i think the first one is

00:01:11.560 this if you decide to be an entrepreneur and i'm talking about a real entrepreneur and i'm not talking

00:01:19.180 about one of these people on instagrams that pretends to be an entrepreneur and puts it in their 0.53

00:01:23.760 fucking bio i'm talking about building a real company with real people and creating a solution 0.95

00:01:29.400 to a problem for a consumer and making money doing so the first thing that you have to understand 0.99

00:01:34.980 is that you are picking literally one of the hardest paths that you could possibly pick over the course of

00:01:44.060 one's life all right statistics show that less than eight percent of people become entrepreneurs

00:01:50.460 and less than one percent of those people become quote-unquote successful entrepreneurs all right

00:01:57.100 but here's the thing aside from those statistics it's still possible but you should know what to expect 1.00

00:02:04.160 and what you can expect is a life of waking up and getting your fucking ass beat day after day after day 1.00

00:02:12.780 after day and having some wins in between that's the reality of entrepreneurship it is not this shit 1.00

00:02:19.780 that we see on the internet it is not always nice cars and fat watches and like that's not what the 0.99

00:02:26.760 fuck it is bro entrepreneurship is a lot of loneliness a lot of getting your ass beat a lot of questioning 0.99

00:02:33.960 yourself a lot of doubt a lot of pain a lot of mistakes a lot of expensive mistakes all your friends 1.00

00:02:40.880 and family telling you that you're crazy everybody you've ever known telling you you need to grow up 0.98

00:02:46.020 and get realistic until you actually build something and then they're like holy shit i always believed 0.98

00:02:51.280 in you and they didn't okay you're going to move from friend group to friend group to friend group to

00:02:56.200 friend group over the course of your life because every time you level up the current friend group is

00:03:02.120 going to take it personal and they're going to say oh you're forgetting about us oh remember where you

00:03:07.280 came from oh you're too good for us now and and bro that's going to happen over and over again okay

00:03:14.060 like you're going to live a very different kind of life than literally every one of your friends

00:03:19.240 all of your friends are going to be able to go out on the weekends go to parties go on vacations and do 0.91

00:03:25.800 all this shit travel the world in the van or whatever is popular now okay and you can't understand 0.95

00:03:32.600 because you're at the beginning of the journey that those very people that say all those things to 0.99

00:03:37.840 you and live this different life that you're having like massive uh fomo about are going to pay a price 0.90

00:03:44.080 later when they're working at fucking this local cell phone store because they have to because they 0.96

00:03:48.980 have to because they have to provide for themselves all right a lot of these people in the beginning 0.99

00:03:53.520 that are doubting you talking shit you know laughing at you making fun of you saying all this shit that 1.00

00:03:58.680 pisses you off these people in 15 or 20 years are going to be working at fucking kfc bro taking your 1.00

00:04:04.140 motherfucking order okay that's the price they're going to pay you're paying a different price you're 1.00

00:04:09.220 paying a price of pain frustration investment of time and energy skipping out on other things that 0.99

00:04:14.980 you could be doing with your life and eventually the price the reward that you get back is you don't

00:04:20.100 have to worry about things other people have to worry about that doesn't mean you'll have a carefree

00:04:23.720 life it doesn't mean life's going to be easy it doesn't mean things are just going to come to you

00:04:28.620 it doesn't mean that you know you're gonna have freedom bro you never have freedom and that's 0.97

00:04:36.600 going to lead into my second point okay but here's the point it's hard as fuck and it takes a long time 0.56

00:04:42.220 and nobody's going to understand you and you're going to feel alone most of the time but if you 0.74

00:04:46.840 keep going it's possible okay and if you keep going for long enough it's probable but the ultimate

00:04:52.420 thing i need you to understand is this it is not what the internet makes it out to be it is not free

00:04:58.100 it is not easy it is not for everybody and it quite honestly is the opposite and anybody who

00:05:04.020 has built anything real in real life will tell you this all of them they will say bro it's the

00:05:10.180 hardest fucking thing i ever did the hardest fucking thing you ever did that's what that's what you 0.99

00:05:15.520 should expect instead of wishing and wanting and hoping and complaining about how hard it is you 0.99

00:05:22.400 should recognize this on day one because i'm telling you dude i've been doing this now for 25 years 0.99

00:05:27.700 that's the way it is and anybody else that tells you anything else is full of shit and i'd be happy 0.98

00:05:33.620 to have them sit here and debate me on it okay and i'll i'll i'll end them all right reality 0.98

00:05:39.980 it's hard so what's the best thing that you could do as a young entrepreneur it's to accept this okay

00:05:48.380 and the reason that you need to accept that it's going to be hard is because if you think that it's

00:05:53.720 going to be easy you are going to constantly feel extra frustrated and victimized by the circumstances

00:05:59.320 in your life if you assume that it's going to be easy you're going to spend your life saying why is

00:06:04.600 it so hard for me and that's the problem of what's going on in the internet we have a lot of fake 0.99

00:06:10.080 motherfuckers presenting themselves as experts telling you how easy and quick and fast this journey 1.00

00:06:15.660 is and you get out there on the playing field and you're getting your ass kicked you can't figure out 1.00

00:06:19.580 why and eventually you blame yourself and say i just don't have what it takes and that's what i'm 0.97

00:06:25.660 trying to get you to avoid it's not that you don't have what it takes it's that the expectations

00:06:30.480 were wrong from the beginning okay so understand this it's hard the second thing to understand about

00:06:38.060 point one is this what's the best thing you can do if you know that you're on a hard journey well

00:06:44.700 it's to prepare yourself for a hard journey you wouldn't go on a hundred day hike through the 0.98

00:06:51.020 forest with no fucking supplies and no training and no understanding of what the fuck you needed to do 1.00

00:06:55.880 would you that would be stupid it would also be stupid to go on to this incredibly hard journey 1.00

00:07:01.820 and not understanding that you have to do things to make yourself capable of enduring this journey 1.00

00:07:08.940 and that comes into things like live hard and 75 hard where you're getting your mind right you're

00:07:14.440 getting your body right this is your weapons these these are your tools your mind your heart your soul

00:07:20.620 your body get those to the highest possible level that you can have now i'm not saying you have to

00:07:26.800 go out here and be david goggins i'm not trying to be david goggins a lot of you guys say to me what 0.97

00:07:31.600 are you trying to do be james lawrence no motherfucker i'm trying to be the best me so i can do what my main 0.95

00:07:38.700 priority is which is to grow and be successful in business and life that's the goal you should look at 0.99

00:07:45.220 your situation the same you don't have to go out and run a hundred fucking miles bro but you got to 1.00

00:07:50.680 have your mind right and be focused on the right shit putting the right shit in your brain all the 0.99

00:07:55.480 time you've got to be physically capable meaning you have to have high confidence you have to be 0.99

00:08:01.460 fit you have to carry yourself well all of these things are skill sets you know confidence self-esteem

00:08:09.340 self-belief the ability to endure fortitude grit mental toughness discipline are skills that are

00:08:17.640 required for this journey so if you are going to go on this journey wouldn't it make sense for you to

00:08:23.440 sharpen those skills first i think it would okay and i don't think it would i know it would

00:08:29.360 okay so stop thinking it's going to be easy understand it's going to be hard understand that's the reality

00:08:34.940 and then build yourself into someone who can tolerate that journey that's point number one i

00:08:40.120 wish i would have known that on day one it would have saved me a lot of frustration a lot of time

00:08:45.440 a lot of anger a lot of bitterness and i probably would have gotten a lot further in a lot faster

00:08:51.340 time frame had i understand that now point number two okay i talked about freedom in the first point 0.96

00:08:58.260 this shit ain't about you and guess what it ain't ever going to be about you 0.92

00:09:04.060 because in order for you to succeed what you have to understand is that you have to serve other human 0.99

00:09:10.400 beings whether they be your customer or whether they be your employees you as the leader have to

00:09:16.720 contribute to them in different but absolutely certain ways when it comes to your customer it's

00:09:23.240 not about getting what they're going to give you it's about what can you give and what do they decide

00:09:29.200 that's worth and are willing to give you in return okay so your question should be not how much money

00:09:35.320 can i take but how much value can i provide and if i can provide exponentially more value i will make

00:09:42.360 exponentially more money that means it's not about what you can get it's not about you it's about them 0.99

00:09:49.540 all the time okay and a lot of people like to say well i'm free i'm my own boss motherfucker you 1.00

00:09:54.360 made the boss of shit your customers are the fucking boss and that's reality okay so this whole idea 1.00

00:10:00.940 that it's about you and it's about this and it's about that lose that shit i spent a decade of my 1.00

00:10:06.860 business life believing that i could sell shit and take money and the most amount of money from people 0.99

00:10:13.680 and i would somehow make it i didn't even figure this out until i was at least 10 or 11 years into business 0.97

00:10:19.720 when i finally figured out what i loved about our business and what i loved about our business

00:10:24.960 was i loved when someone would come in who was very unfit very unhappy and over the course of six or

00:10:32.160 seven months they would become a new person and they would come back in the store and they would give 0.74

00:10:36.280 you a hug and they would be crying shit and they'd be thanking you and at my lowest of lows in business 0.87

00:10:42.980 where i had to assume that i would never make any money in business i had to really think about what i 0.98

00:10:48.380 wanted to do if money wasn't an option i fucking loved that i loved helping people get better okay 0.87

00:10:56.180 i loved it and so i flipped my perspective from hey i'm going to take money from these people and i 0.91

00:11:01.720 went into this perspective of hey i'm just going to try to replicate this level of result every single

00:11:08.000 time with every single customer you know what happened a company grew 100 you know what happened for 0.91

00:11:12.720 the last the next five years after that we grew 100 every fucking year you know why because i stopped 0.95

00:11:19.540 focusing on me i started focusing on what i could do for other people the same goes for your employees

00:11:24.340 once you get to a point where you have employees the intent of having employees should be that i give

00:11:30.720 a fuck about that employee i care about their career i care about where they're going and yes i'm going 0.98

00:11:35.160 to be hard but i'm going to also be their friend and real friends give a fuck about those people's 0.99

00:11:39.460 futures and once your employees start to understand that they start to perform okay so it's not hey 0.99

00:11:45.000 motherfucker you work for me do this shit so i can make money it's hey man you fucking aren't holding 0.99

00:11:50.320 the line on yourself you aren't doing what you need to do to be great and if you did these things you'd 1.00

00:11:54.980 be great and guess what happens when they have that respect and they have the understanding that

00:11:59.580 you are trustworthy as an entrepreneur as a leader and they believe that you have their interests in

00:12:06.120 mind not because you made them believe you have their interests in mind but because you actually

00:12:09.880 do what do you think happens oh you create a tremendous team culture where people want to win 0.81

00:12:15.540 and people are motivated and people want to build shit and it becomes amazing but it still ain't about 0.63

00:12:20.520 you it's about them okay this will never be about you this will never if you want to be a successful 0.97

00:12:27.580 entrepreneur this will never ever be about you there's a famous saying that steward scott

00:12:34.620 the the deceased espn announcer said one time and i'll never forget i was watching sports center and

00:12:42.900 he said this he said great leaders take responsibility and give the credit okay never make it about you

00:12:51.880 you know what your reward is bro your reward is you get to make some money your reward is you get to

00:12:57.860 you get the public praise but you have to remember it ain't really you it's them okay it's them and then

00:13:03.720 beyond them your employees it's them the customers who built you it's not you okay it'll never be

00:13:09.040 about you your reward is the financial gain and the success and your job is to make it about everybody

00:13:16.160 else and if you make it about everybody else and you focus on everybody else you will never have a 0.65

00:13:19.840 problem making fucking money in business that's reality okay so that's the second thing i wish i would 0.91

00:13:24.340 have known because had i changed my perspective from it's about them not about me before 10 years in 0.98

00:13:31.400 business i would be 10 years ahead of where i am right now so that's a 10 year lesson make it about

00:13:36.860 them focus on what you can provide do what you can to make their lives better how can you over deliver

00:13:42.460 with your product how can you over deliver with your leadership how can you make your employees better 0.98

00:13:46.720 humans how can you do everything to contribute to everybody around you and make them fucking win

00:13:51.620 how can you do that and if you do that to the best of your abilities you will be rewarded

00:13:56.580 okay and that cost me 11 years to learn that lesson that's a multi-million billion dollar lesson 0.99

00:14:02.940 depending on how far you want to go with it all right and point number three is this shit takes time 0.98

00:14:09.440 okay i have this concept called aggressive patience that i've talked about for years and years and years 0.96

00:14:15.420 people hear certain personalities talk about patience when it comes to entrepreneurship and we have all

00:14:21.180 these different we have all these different people saying different things when people hear patience

00:14:28.580 typically what do they think they think wait okay and they think wait around and eventually it'll happen

00:14:35.000 and this is why most people fail in life they think that when they turn 30 the finances are going to turn

00:14:40.400 on or when they get to be 35 the finances are going to turn on and it never happens it doesn't happen

00:14:46.120 because you're missing the aggressive part all right what you have to understand is yes it takes

00:14:51.440 time yes it takes a lot of time and during that time do you know what you should be doing every 0.98

00:14:57.320 single day every motherfucking thing that you can fucking do on that day to win then on the next day 0.97

00:15:03.680 every single thing you can do and then on the next day every single thing you can do all day long 0.99

00:15:08.880 aggressive patience has nothing to do with sitting on your hands it has everything to do with doing

00:15:13.780 everything you can and still understanding that it's going to take a long time that's what patience

00:15:20.260 means in business and you should be impatient you should take impatient action on a day by day basis

00:15:26.760 but you should understand for the sense of your own sanity that is still going to take time no matter 0.98

00:15:33.520 what you want no matter how fast you want it you have it's no different than a recipe on a fucking cake 0.96

00:15:39.520 bro okay if you do not allow time to do its part nothing will happen okay you could get the best 0.99

00:15:48.480 recipe in the entire world from the most famous baker and you could take all the ingredients and you

00:15:55.280 could mix them up in a bowl all right and you say i got the best recipe and and then you pour it in 0.99

00:16:01.580 the cake pan and then you say well fuck dude the recipe calls for 400 degrees for 45 minutes and you 0.99

00:16:09.840 say well i want this and i want this in 20 minutes so what do you do you turn the fucking heat up in 1.00

00:16:14.620 the oven 800 degrees and you cook for 20 minutes what the fuck you got now you got a burnt piece of 1.00

00:16:19.600 shit okay nobody's eating that shit it's fucking disgusting and then half of you have the nerve to 1.00

00:16:25.460 blame the person that gave you the fucking recipe okay the reality is the reason it calls for 45 1.00

00:16:31.360 minutes because that's the fuck it takes it takes time and it takes a long time okay and you can't 1.00

00:16:37.900 out finagle time you can't there's nothing you can do there's not now what you can do is you can do 0.99

00:16:43.960 everything you can day by day by day by day by day you can be aggressive on a daily basis and still

00:16:49.380 exercise patience over the long term i didn't know this when i first started i thought like a lot of

00:16:56.380 you guys think that eventually my

00:16:58.780 life would just materialize into a uh would materialize into a uh success story because i was

00:17:09.760 doing it that's not true you have to in the patient time over the course of time if you're not executing

00:17:15.320 aggressively the result never happens okay so let me break this down summarize for you okay 0.84

00:17:21.040 first thing entrepreneurship is the hardest motherfucking thing you could do if it's not 0.96

00:17:26.380 the hardest it's one of the hardest all right it's hard it's hard as fuck take the time to become 0.97

00:17:32.620 someone who is capable and equipped of going on a difficult journey for a long period of time

00:17:37.360 build your mind build your heart build your body build your resilience and become someone that

00:17:43.120 can tolerate that that's the first thing the second thing is the quicker you can understand

00:17:48.220 it's not about you and it's about service it's about everybody else the more successful and the

00:17:52.620 more money you're going to make quicker all right so don't waste time thinking you're going to scam 0.90

00:17:57.400 people don't waste time thinking you're going to trick people people are fucking smart take the time 0.90

00:18:02.860 to figure out how i'm going to over deliver how i'm going to create so much value and i'm going to 0.94

00:18:08.080 create so much value for my customers and so much for my employees that they love to do

00:18:12.760 and be customers of and support and work for and build what it is you're building okay it's about

00:18:19.400 them it's never about you and the third thing is aggressive patience it doesn't matter how hard you

00:18:27.080 work time is still going to exist it's still going to be a component of success you cannot cheat your way

00:18:37.060 around it all these people online they're telling you they could save you this or that yes there's value

00:18:42.520 in learning from someone who has legitimately been on the path that you're on and has done the

00:18:49.200 things that you do if i were to talk to 19 year old andy now 19 year old andy would save 15 years 0.96

00:18:55.600 off of his journey by learning from 44 year old andy okay but i can promise you these knuckle fucks on 0.99

00:19:02.260 the internet who post these reels all day long talking all this shit cannot do that for you so understand 0.99

00:19:08.020 this all right you have to realize that this is going to be hard you have to act with urgency you 0.97

00:19:15.900 have to act with impatience on a daily basis and still recognize that it's going to take a long

00:19:21.960 time okay aggressive patience if you can get those three things in on day one bro you're in a much 1.00

00:19:27.580 better spot than i was all right so go out there kick some fucking ass take these things to heart listen 0.99

00:19:33.340 this a few times let this sink in it'll save you a lot of time a lot of money a lot of frustration 0.99

00:19:38.600 and greatly increase the chances of you getting to where you want to go 0.99

00:19:42.620 went from sleeping on the floor now my jewelry box froze fuck a pole fuck a stole counted millions in 1.00
