The competition for success in business is fierce. Is there any hope that you can really succeed? Today, Andy talks about how you can be part of the 2% of the people who are actually doing the work to become a CEO.
00:02:28.220We get people hopeful, but they would say, you know, the competition, the business competition is so fierce that you're kind of wasting your interest.
00:02:34.880This is a constant thing I've noticed throughout my lifetime between successful people and pretenders.
00:02:43.420Uh, people who say they want to be successful, who really never accomplish it.
00:02:47.800People who are successful learn that becoming successful is cause and effect.
00:02:55.220Um, it is action and reaction, action, result, however you want to say it.
00:03:01.600Um, it's not magic, you know, and people who do not become successful, they believe there's some sort of magic to it.
00:03:12.140You know, and most people believe that they believe that there's some sort of little success fairy that fly.
00:03:18.160And I've said this a million times, little success fairy that flies out of the sky and shits a hundred dollar bills on people's heads for no fucking reason.
00:03:25.140Other than, you know, you decided to be blessed with success and they did it.
00:03:30.620And the reality of the situation is that people who believe in that sort of magic never make it because they never are willing to do the work because they feel like if they do the work that there's still a good chance they won't make it.
00:03:46.140So they never do the work and then they blame the odds against them.
00:03:49.740But it's the people that I know personally, and I can only speak for myself and the people I've seen, but I know a lot of successful people.
00:03:58.220I talk to multimillionaires on the phone through email every single day, probably dozens of them a day.
00:04:37.260And they're the same kind of people that'll say, I won't do this extra work at work.
00:04:41.140Because I'm not getting paid to do that.
00:04:43.580And I'm not going to go the extra mile for this customer.
00:04:45.780Cause I'm not getting extra compensation for that.
00:04:48.160And those people, those kinds of people never move outside of where they, you know, the basic, the basic spots in life in terms of success, which would be average.
00:04:59.280Because they're not willing to do anything outside or take a step of faith other than what they can see factual.
00:05:05.980And that's, you know, that's the reality, you know?
00:05:07.800So if you're, if you're the kind of person who's going to let people or let the odds stacked against you conversation deter you from being successful or doing extra work, you're sure as shit going to be sitting on the sidelines of life.
00:05:18.360If, you know, saying the same thing, this guy's probably saying, oh, it's all bullshit.
00:05:29.160Let's talk to him about how many businesses he started, how many he's failed, or how many lessons he's learned, or how many books he's read, or how many of the things that he's done that all these successful people make habits of doing.
00:05:40.400And I guarantee he's done none of them.
00:06:26.760Miserable, excuse-making, underachieving, negative, blood-sucking pussies that ruin the idea of success for most other people because they whine and cry and pout about how life isn't fair.
00:06:41.200And when they die, they're going to say RIP.
00:06:45.140But it's not going to mean rest in peace.
00:06:46.780It's going to say, really, I was a pussy.
00:07:43.560They're going to pretend to give an effort.
00:07:46.140They're going to pretend like they tried.
00:07:47.880And they're going to talk about the rest of their life on that half the hour bar stool on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock about how the world screwed them over.
00:07:57.260And they did the same effort that all these successful people did.
00:08:00.440And they may have, but they only did it for a fucking week.
00:08:34.720Out of 100 people that are going to start the business that you are dreaming of starting, you the listener right now, 70% of the people are going to fucking quit in six months.
00:09:14.200So that's seven out of 10 people that you're going to compete against on day one when you're at the bottom of the mountain and there's 100 people that are doing your business.
00:09:23.74070% of those people will not be there in six months.
00:09:49.780They're going to become students of success.
00:09:52.800But the minute shit gets hard, the minute things go wrong, the minute their store gets broken into or vandalized, the minute they have a car accident, the minute they get sick, the minute somebody stabs them in the fucking face.
00:10:08.300The minute an employee steals, the minute their company gets flooded, the minute any sort of resistance comes in and fucking stands in their way, they're going to quit.
00:10:47.680And don't sit here and think, I don't know what the fuck this is about because my business partner's mom died of cancer while we were building our business.
00:10:55.260He drove every fucking other day to St. Louis from Springfield, Missouri, which is a three-hour drive.
00:15:27.860How lucky was I when I was living on the fucking mattress in the back of my first retail store?
00:15:31.800Having a shower at my friends' fucking places.
00:15:35.200How lucky was I that in 2012 I had a nervous fucking breakdown and ended up in the hospital because I'm so fucking anal about perfection that I fucking lost my mind.
00:16:09.000So you're really telling me that deep in your heart you believe that the best way for people to assess the competition out there is, no, you're not facing 100 people.
00:16:17.180This should be an encouraging podcast for people, not a discouraging one.
00:16:21.440And when you look at people, when you look at your competition and when we say it is a battle of persistence, it is a battle of not quitting, I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
00:16:33.140Most of the people that you compete with on day one in your small business are not going to be there in three years.
00:16:39.840They're not going to be there in fucking one year, most of them.
00:17:08.880Most people still buy into the lottery mindset.
00:17:13.380And you have to realize that the majority of your competition is not serious.
00:17:16.940They're either pussies or they're playing business or they think they're business people.
00:17:22.920And so the good news is if you stop being a pussy and you stop playing business and you get serious and you start killing it on a daily fucking basis, you will be in the 2% by default.
00:17:41.860So when you're one of these people who writes online, oh, you motivational people are the equivalent of TV evangelists and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:17:51.140Because I get that shit sometimes too.
00:17:52.680And if you write that on my page, I feel sorry for you because you just don't fucking get it.
00:17:56.580You're going to be miserable for your entire life.
00:17:58.780So let's leave it at this because this is Thursday Thunder.
00:18:02.340This isn't a 45-minute or an hour and 10-minute podcast.
00:18:07.460I'd rather you guys go out and kick some fucking ass, all right?
00:18:09.840So stop believing in fucking magic, okay?
00:18:13.580When you're seven and you're at your birthday party and the fucking clown comes, which clowns are terrifying if you ask me,
00:18:20.400but the clown comes and he pulls a little rabbit out of his fucking hat, that's still not magic.
00:18:24.420He had a fucking rabbit in his hat the whole time.
