00:00:00.000 Hello, my Rebels. Today I talk about the case of Carlos Maza, an activist journalist at Vox,
00:00:05.960 versus Steven Crowder, a conservative comedian. Who's going to win? Well, you know the answer to
00:00:11.120 that. Hey, before I go, do me a favor. Go to the rebel.media slash shows and become a premium
00:00:17.300 subscriber for eight bucks a month. You can get a membership, which lets you see the video version
00:00:22.580 of my show, as well as Sheila Gunn-Reed's show and David Menzies' show. And of course,
00:00:26.720 the $8 a month goes to, well, frankly, to fill our coffers so we can hire staff because we've
00:00:34.480 been demonetized to a large degree on YouTube too. So if it weren't for people buying those $8 a month
00:00:41.480 premium subscriptions, I don't think we'd be around. So please consider doing that. I appreciate it if
00:00:46.020 you would. All right, here's today's podcast. You're listening to a Rebel Media Podcast.
00:00:51.560 Tonight, America's second largest media company pressures YouTube into silencing thousands of
00:00:58.660 independent content creators. It's June 7th, and this is The Ezra LeVance Show.
00:01:05.060 Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?
00:01:08.940 There's 8,500 customers here, and you won't give them an answer.
00:01:12.580 The only thing I have to say to the government of a wire publisher is because it's my bloody
00:01:17.880 right to do so.
00:01:23.800 Have you ever heard of Vox, the media company? It's painfully liberal, and it really has this
00:01:29.960 social justice warrior affectation. It really feels like it's written not just by millennials,
00:01:35.920 but by really irritating, know-nothing millennials who just Google things an hour before they write
00:01:43.060 about it, and ta-da, they call themselves experts. It's really cringy, and they have this shtick.
00:01:49.240 They say they do explanatory journalism. They say things like the monetary system explained,
00:01:56.180 the United Nations explained, but of course they're not experts in any way. They should really be called
00:02:02.280 things we learned in the last hour that seem important to us on Google.
00:02:07.240 My favorite example of all time about Vox was this one, written by some know-nothing,
00:02:13.080 titled, 11 Crucial Facts to Understand the Israel-Gaza Crisis. I mean, you just know that it's like a
00:02:21.380 college newspaper-level facts, right, with that headline. Now, I just showed you what that story
00:02:26.540 looks like now, but look at the bottom. There's a correction there. It says,
00:02:30.900 An earlier version of this post suggested there was a bridge connecting Gaza and the West Bank.
00:02:39.140 Various plans to do this have been floated, but the bridge was never actually built.
00:02:45.960 Yeah, that would have been one of the world's largest bridges, and I'm not sure why you would
00:02:50.700 need a bridge, because it's not over a sea or a chasm. Here's what the original article wrote.
00:02:56.320 Remember, these are crucial facts. You need to understand things. This is the explanatory
00:03:02.460 journalism website. Of course, the author has obviously never been to Israel. You would
00:03:06.740 immediately know that no such bridge exists. Here's what he wrote. Someone took a screenshot
00:03:12.420 of it before they corrected it. This was the number one crucial fact you needed to know. Let me quote.
00:03:19.200 As you can see on the above map, Gaza is separate from the other major Palestinian population center,
00:03:26.100 the big green blob to the east of Israel, the West Bank. They're connected only by a bridge
00:03:32.780 that Israel limits traffic on. Yeah, no. Just no. No, no, that's not how it is. You know,
00:03:43.420 back in the 1990s when I was in college, I sold encyclopedias as a summer job, the Encyclopedia
00:03:50.240 Britannica. And back then, there were other encyclopedias. This was before the internet was
00:03:54.840 a real thing. But the one thing Britannica said was that each of its articles were written by the
00:04:00.900 world's expert in that subject. So for example, Nobel Prize winner in economics, Milton Friedman,
00:04:07.080 wrote the encyclopedia entry about economics. Carl Sagan wrote about space. Even Albert Einstein
00:04:15.480 wrote an article for the Encyclopedia Britannica. They had 4,000 different experts. As in, they didn't
00:04:21.620 just have a bunch of know-nothing college kids who read up on something the night before.
00:04:27.900 It truly was a compendium of the world's best knowledge supplanted now only by the internet. But
00:04:34.200 you can still find experts on the internet, of course, now more than ever, really.
00:04:39.920 Or you can go to Vox, which has 20-something sitting in cubicles in Brooklyn, becoming a half-hour
00:04:47.680 expert in something before explaining it to you. Here are those cubicles. I'm serious. This is where
00:04:53.720 all that brilliance happens. They're actually on strike today. I guess these world-class experts want
00:04:58.820 more than 15 bucks an hour or whatever it takes these days to write that.
00:05:02.620 There's a magic bridge from Gaza to Jerusalem or whatever. So that's Vox.
00:05:11.420 But what they lack in knowledge or wisdom or understanding or experience, they make up for
00:05:16.640 in partisanship and politics. The spirit of the encyclopedia was academic debate, the scientific
00:05:24.020 method. You know what the scientific method is, right? You start with a hypothesis or a theory,
00:05:28.680 something you think might be true, but you're not so certain of it. So you test it. You do a test.
00:05:33.640 You do an experiment. You control other variables. You check one thing. You see the results. You adjust
00:05:39.940 your hypothesis. You do it over again. You're constantly learning. Empirical facts. You love
00:05:44.800 criticism because it'll improve your knowledge. So yeah, Vox is the opposite.
00:05:51.560 They really hate people with different opinions. Let me give you an example. They hired this fellow,
00:05:57.720 Carlos Maza, who goes by the Twitter nickname Gay Wonk. A wonk, I don't know if you know that word.
00:06:06.120 It's someone who claims they really love public policy. So Zach Beauchamp, who wrote the Gaza Bridge
00:06:13.220 story, he'd call himself a policy wonk. It's basically what a non-expert calls himself to pretend
00:06:19.780 they're an expert. I mean, Milton Friedman didn't have to call himself a policy wonk because he
00:06:24.080 was a PhD and a Nobel Prize winner in economics. Carlos Maza calls himself a policy wonk because
00:06:29.780 he really doesn't know anything about anything. But he calls himself gay wonk because he wants you 0.97
00:06:35.860 to know he's gay. Because, well, why actually? Does it go to his expertise on things like bridges? 0.94
00:06:43.580 If you're gay, do you have special knowledge about Gaza or anything? No, the opposite. Actually, 1.00
00:06:50.600 it's the opposite of wisdom and the search for truth. It's a reversion to tribalism, at least how
00:06:55.480 he's using it there. He's using it as an identity marker, as a trump card. Milton Friedman might have
00:07:02.720 said, as an economist, I believe that. Carlos Maza says, as a gay man, I believe that something.
00:07:11.580 It doesn't lend more authority, does it? It's playing the sexual orientation card, like 0.97
00:07:17.820 a race card or a gender card. As a black man, I believe. As a Jew, I believe. It's not really
00:07:23.740 a source of authority. It's anti-intellectual. Here's an example. Let me know if you see any
00:07:29.440 argumentation here or just lots of virtue signaling and identity politics. Take a look at this.
00:07:36.160 Search YouTube for videos about immigration and eventually you'll find this.
00:07:40.920 Mass immigration is not the rainbows and unicorns that our politicians portrayed as. It is in fact
00:07:47.160 a tragedy. Search for videos about Islam and you'll find stuff like this.
00:07:51.660 By its very nature, Islam is an intolerant, radical, extremist belief system. 1.00
00:07:58.120 Search for feminism and yeah. Newsflash, everybody hates feminism. 1.00
00:08:03.960 These videos are all products of what New York Times Magazine calls the YouTube Right. A growing
00:08:09.080 collection of right-wing vloggers, media operations, conspiracy theorists, and activists who built
00:08:14.120 sizable followings on YouTube. They warn about mass immigration, decry political correctness, and mock
00:08:19.880 out-of-control social justice warriors. Why am I on camera for this?
00:08:23.240 Yeah, he's sort of an over-the-top central casting effete gay man. It's his thing. Now, some people, 1.00
00:08:29.640 their thing is they're really smart. For Carlos Maza, his ethnicity and his sexuality
00:08:37.000 are his thing that he makes into a thing. That's who he is. He tells you that. He tells you that in
00:08:43.960 his nickname. And that's fine. Look, you be you. But that's not intellectual. That's not actually
00:08:50.440 explaining anything, is it? That's politics. Again, no problem. I mean, for people who want to know
00:08:58.280 the gay point of view on the non-existent bridge to Gaza, knock yourself out. I put it to you, 1.00
00:09:03.480 there's more than one gay point of view. There is no such thing as a gay point of view on a bridge.
00:09:07.000 But Carlos Maza, even though he attacks his enemies relentlessly, not just his enemies in that YouTube
00:09:14.680 video I just showed you. But on Twitter, look at this. He says, milkshake them all. Humiliate
00:09:21.800 them at every turn. Make them dread public organizing. Wow. By milkshake them, of course,
00:09:30.040 he means to assault his political enemies, conservatives, by throwing things at the
00:09:34.600 milkshakes or whatever. In the UK, they throw bricks and bottles down too. Like I said,
00:09:38.760 Carlos Maza's strong suit is not debating or convincing people. It's being really pleased
00:09:45.720 with who he is from an ethnic and sexual identity point of view, and being absolutely malicious,
00:09:52.120 literally cheering violence against people who have a different identity than him. Identity.
00:09:56.040 Not a lot of explaining here. Not a lot of intellectualism. Other than his one explanation,
00:10:00.520 he's a gay wonk, and that's what he's going to do to you if you don't agree. He'll cheer for 1.00
00:10:06.920 your milkshaking. There's a slightly interesting Democratic presidential candidate, by the way,
00:10:12.760 who's gay as well. His name is Pete Buttigieg, who is going to go on a TV show to be interviewed
00:10:19.000 by a classical liberal named Dave Rubin, who is actually gay also, as it turns out. And Maza
00:10:28.280 put his Twitter mob to work to stop that. So I guess he's a gay wonk, but he doesn't like gays who 0.99
00:10:35.320 don't share his opinion. Pete Buttigieg wanted to meet with Dave Rubin. But here's what Maza said. 0.98
00:10:42.280 He said, absolutely madness, this debating, interviewing thing. I mean, Rubin is an enemy, obviously.
00:10:51.800 Maza doesn't need to be good at debating, you see, because if he can personally or financially
00:10:56.440 destroy his enemies, that's great. De-platforming works, he says. Look at that. De-platforming works,
00:11:01.720 and we should use it way more aggressively. He was tweeting news that Milo Yiannopoulos is in debt
00:11:07.400 because of being banned from many platforms. Milo's gay too, by the way. 0.96
00:11:13.240 I don't think gay wonk is even an accurate name because he hates gays who have a different opinion. 0.97
00:11:20.360 So Maza is not exactly a liberal, is he? He isn't someone who loves knowledge. I don't think he should 0.97
00:11:25.080 be working for a place that claims they explain things. That's not really his thing. He doesn't
00:11:32.200 believe in having to explain to conservatives how they're wrong. He didn't try to explain to Dave
00:11:37.560 Rubin or Milo why they're wrong. He believes in silencing them aggressively, either through banning
00:11:43.560 them like Milo or through milkshaking them or otherwise humiliating them. That's his word.
00:11:49.000 That's the real giveaway, I think. He wants people to be dehumanized.
00:11:53.640 To lose their mind, really to lose their place in society, to make them unpersoned, calling for
00:11:58.760 someone to be humiliated. Well, Maza is so insufferable. I mean, he plays this effete explainer
00:12:06.440 on TV. Oh, it's just me. But he's actually rather butch, isn't he? He believes in milkshaking
00:12:12.040 people and deplatforming them and humiliating them. He's not a gentle man. I think he's very
00:12:17.800 inauthentic that way. He's not liberal and he's not nice. And he's not even a wonk. He's a bully.
00:12:25.160 I think he's a bit of a fascist. And he decided to take aim at a leading conservative political 0.99
00:12:30.520 comedian, Steven Crowder. I think he's funny. He's a comedian first and a political commentator
00:12:38.120 second. That's actually how he started off in life at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal.
00:12:42.760 I think he's in the mold of Bill Maher or Jon Stewart. I think Crowder's funnier. Lots of
00:12:48.680 costumes. Lots of jokes. I mean, obviously, you're not going to laugh at everything he does,
00:12:52.680 but I think he's funny. And obviously, Crowder started making fun of Maza, which is what comedians 0.84
00:13:00.200 do. And of course, if you don't like it, ignore it. Block it on social media. I don't know.
00:13:06.780 Heckle back. Make a video back. You work for Vox. Whatever. I mean, Maza broadcast a video smearing 0.99
00:13:12.940 his enemies list online. I showed you that. But he didn't want to take any return fire because
00:13:20.460 they were being mean to him. But hey, if you condition out, you can take it. But Maza didn't 0.69
00:13:25.180 want to take it. You heard the man. He believes in deplatforming his enemies, not convincing them.
00:13:30.300 And so he started a bit of a pout online. He says, so I have a pretty thick skin when it comes to
00:13:37.260 online harassment. But something has really been bothering me. Yeah, brother, you don't have a
00:13:41.340 thick skin. He said, since I started working at Vox, Steven Crowder has been making video after video
00:13:46.940 debunking strikethrough. That's Maza's videos. Every single video has included repeated overt
00:13:53.500 attacks on my sexual orientation and ethnicity. Here's a sample and take a look.
00:13:58.300 Before we get to the video, uh, with our favorite, favorite lispy strike from Vox. It's ridiculous? 0.81
00:14:05.420 It's bonkers? You're being given a free pass as a crappy writer because you're gay. That's 1.00
00:14:09.820 center line on his little queer graph there. What is that line? Well, now the graph is queer? 0.73
00:14:14.540 Violence, filth. Okay, so the little queer can eat his chips all nonchalantly. It's code for rape, 1.00
00:14:20.220 Mr. Queer Eating Chips on the Vox channel. Chip, chip, chip, chip, but you can't eat just one. Like dicks. 1.00
00:14:25.900 This is what Mr. Gay Vox wants to do. Mr. Lispy Queer from Vox. What were you holding, 0.99
00:14:31.180 gay Latino from Vox? Even his hand movement in fast motion is gay. Now we're here with a short-haired 1.00
00:14:36.780 angry lesbian on Skype. Cable news, gable news bitching, two gay guys sitting there eating a 1.00
00:14:40.540 banana. We get the symbolism there. Truth is hiding in a closet two weeks later, probably along to his 0.99
00:14:45.660 next pride parade outfit. This guy on the gay semi-Latino Vox. Oh, okay, so you really are just an angry little 0.96
00:14:50.860 queer. All right, can't deal with this sprite anymore. Okay, he just sashays across without it. 1.00
00:14:54.700 Like just, oh, the gay Vox sprite is wrong. Now he could be a dranny, your honor. How many lispy, 1.00
00:15:01.420 angry sprites Vox sashay across your screen and try and tell you otherwise. Or you, by the way,
00:15:07.020 the gay Mexican guy. The gay Latino v-neck. Gay Mexican. Mexican gay guy used to work. Mexican gay 1.00
00:15:11.580 Latino there at Vox. Gay Latino from Vox. The token Vox gay atheist sprite with surprisingly, 0.96
00:15:18.140 surprisingly flaccid chest considering how thin he is. It is very bizarre to me. Ad hominem? Yes, 0.84
00:15:22.060 but it was an addendum to fat. Now I should tell you, speaking in that affectation,
00:15:28.060 that's not a speech impediment, obviously. And that's not something that gay people do by reasons
00:15:33.020 of biology or sexuality. It's not an accent, like being born in Boston or Alabama. It's a speak
00:15:39.980 affectation. It's a thing done on purpose, like how valley girls talk. It's like Catherine McKenna. 0.69
00:15:45.820 It's a thing. Like calling yourself gay wonk. You're leading with it. You want people to know it. 0.97
00:15:51.580 You can't very well use it as your shtick. Call yourself gay wonk, have that affectation, 0.97
00:15:57.820 and then object because a comedian who you yourself have attacked is now mocking you in return. 0.98
00:16:05.020 Or you can object to it, but grow up. Dish it out, take it. Well, that's not how it works at Vox.
00:16:11.740 And so he went on this endless Twitter pout rant that every leftist in America retweeted.
00:16:20.060 Now, Crowder is funny, I think. If you don't think he's funny, that's fine. But 3.8 million
00:16:24.380 people have subscribed to his YouTube channel. That's triple the size of our YouTube channel.
00:16:29.100 And he gets tons of views. And he's also on a paywall channel called Blaze TV with Glenn Beck.
00:16:36.380 So he's a pretty big deal. He's not as big as Tucker Carlson on Fox News, but he's pretty big on the internet.
00:16:42.060 So lots of leftists were retweeting and liking Carlos Mazza because they hate Steve Crowder.
00:16:48.860 And YouTube, well, at first, they held the line. The company replied to Mazza directly and publicly.
00:16:55.980 Let me read what they said. They said,
00:16:57.180 Thanks again for taking the time to share all of this information with us. We take allegations of
00:17:02.300 harassment very seriously. We know this is important and impacts a lot of people.
00:17:08.220 Our teams spent the last few days conducting an in-depth review of the videos flagged to us.
00:17:15.660 And while we found language that was clearly hurtful, the videos as posted don't violate our policies.
00:17:21.740 We've included more info below to explain this decision. As an open platform, it's crucial for us to allow
00:17:29.420 everyone, from creators to journalists to late-night TV hosts, to express their opinions within the scope of our policies.
00:17:37.340 Opinions can be deeply offensive, but if they don't violate our policies, they'll remain on our site.
00:17:43.900 Even if a video remains on our site, it doesn't mean we endorse or support that viewpoint.
00:17:49.020 There are other aspects of the channel that we're still evaluating. We'll be in touch with any further update.
00:17:57.020 So that's what they wrote back to Mazza on June 4th. Pretty free speechy to me.
00:18:03.020 And look at this. Stephen Crowder celebrated. He said,
00:18:06.060 Team YouTube made the right decision. If they banned us, they'd have to ban.
00:18:10.220 And then you see he linked to this video of other political comedians saying very rude things,
00:18:16.620 including about the sexuality of someone they were attacking. Take a look.
00:18:20.860 You're the presidents, but you're turning into a real prick-tator.
00:18:26.540 Sir, you attract more skinheads than free Rogaine. You have more people marching against you than
00:18:33.980 cancer. You talk like a sign language gorilla who got hit in the head. In fact, the only thing your 0.99
00:18:39.180 mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's holster. You know, Ivanka, that's a beautiful
00:18:44.860 photo of you and your child. But let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your
00:18:50.940 dad's immigration practices, you feckless . And obviously, I hope India and Pakistan don't 1.00
00:18:55.980 go to war. But if they did go to war, it would probably be the most entertaining war of all time.
00:18:59.740 Yeah? Because the Indian soldiers would run out on the battlefield and they'd be like,
00:19:03.020 time for you to die. 0.95
00:19:17.020 Ask lots of questions about this and that. 1.00
00:19:23.340 About this and that?
00:19:26.780 Sometime at night, calm alone, look up in the sky and say, what the hell going on up there?
00:19:32.780 Do UFO live on another planet, phoning home like E.T.?
00:19:37.100 Calm alone, read on TV about white people getting deducted by aliens, sticking all kind of hell up 1.00
00:19:42.220 their butt. And that's a damn thing. 1.00
00:19:44.620 Yeah, so that's a free speech victory, eh? I gotta tell you, I was skeptical, I have to say. I 0.99
00:19:50.140 really couldn't believe that YouTube was standing up for free speech.
00:19:54.300 Well, I guess the wall of anger was ratcheted up in the face of YouTube's four explanations. And I
00:20:04.700 I wonder if there were some moves behind the scenes. I wonder if Barack Obama made a phone
00:20:08.780 call or Hillary Clinton made a phone call to YouTube's owners, Google. Remember,
00:20:13.420 Google is a 100% Democrat company. They fired the one guy who was conservative. Their senior
00:20:18.380 executives are all Democrats. Their executive vice president, Eric Schmidt,
00:20:22.060 offered to build Hillary Clinton's campaign website. Do you remember the senior staff meeting
00:20:25.820 at Google the week Trump won? Here's a little bit of that. This is videos
00:20:30.300 from their staff meeting after Trump won.
00:20:32.380 As we started to see the direction of the voting, I reached out to someone close to me who was at
00:20:38.540 the Javits Center where the big celebration was supposed to occur in New York City. Somebody had
00:20:44.620 been working on the campaign. And I just sent him a note and said, you know, are you okay?
00:20:49.980 It looks like it's going the wrong way. And I got back a very sad short text that read,
00:20:57.820 people are leaving. Staff is crying. We're going to lose.
00:21:02.460 Yeah, that's Google. The most telling was this woman, a senior Google executive,
00:21:07.580 practically crying, saying the Hillary Clinton campaign was we. She spoke in the first person
00:21:13.660 plural, as in it wasn't Hillary or they or them. It was as if Google and Hillary were the same thing.
00:21:20.380 Do you remember this? That was the first moment I really felt like we were going to lose. And it was
00:21:26.140 this massive like kick in the gut that we were going to lose. And it was really painful.
00:21:31.820 So maybe, I don't know, we'll never know. Maybe Obama or Hillary Clinton or someone made a phone
00:21:36.540 call to those Democrats at Google who own YouTube and made them think again and said, what are you
00:21:40.700 doing standing with Steven Crowder? He's a Republican and Vox is Democrat. Because the very next day,
00:21:48.060 after they wrote their defense of free speech, they thought again and they wrote this.
00:21:52.460 Update on our continued review. We have suspended this channel's monetization. We came to this
00:21:59.820 decision because a pattern of egregious actions has harmed the broader community and is against
00:22:05.420 our YouTube partner program policies. Oh, really? Wow. That was quick. Egregious, eh? Because earlier
00:22:11.820 they said they had teams, plural, reviewing things. So they sounded like they went through exhaustively.
00:22:17.740 And voila, and one day later they said, no, no, no, no, we're shocked. Shocked. A day ago
00:22:25.100 they weren't shocked, but now they're shocked. Was it really egregious though? Was it, was it a little
00:22:31.020 bit like, was it like this? Weirdly shaped Dick's Jew face? Oh, sorry. No, no, no. That's not Steven Crowder. 0.99
00:22:42.700 That's Carlos Maza himself. See, it's different when he's the racist one, or I don't even know if
00:22:50.140 that was a sexual orientation attack. I really don't know what that means. So Steven Crowder's
00:22:54.940 website was in fact demonetized. That's the word that means YouTube has shut off his ability to make
00:23:01.740 any money off it. They just canceled his ability to put ads on it. I'm guessing that's half a million
00:23:07.100 bucks a year, at least enough to pay for a significant staff. And it's just gone because
00:23:12.780 Carlos Maza's feelings were hurt by a conservative comedian. Even if it was offensive humor, it's humor.
00:23:20.860 And now, oh, by the way, thousands of other YouTube pages were immediately, simultaneously
00:23:28.220 swept up in this Night of the Long Knives. I don't know exactly what they did or how they did it.
00:23:33.580 Maybe they just deleted anyone's monetization if they had keywords like right wing or whatever,
00:23:39.020 because thousands of other independent YouTube sites were demonetized all at the same time
00:23:46.060 because someone at Vox had a temper tantrum because their affected way of speaking was mocked by a
00:23:52.540 comedian. And that's how our story ends, except not quite because Carlos Maza, I mean,
00:24:00.300 he's a nobody. Or is he? He's not quite a nobody, is he? Look at this. Until Donald Trump was elected,
00:24:07.180 Maza worked for a Democratic Party war room called Media Matters. It was a privately funded
00:24:13.420 anti-Republican, anti-Conservative Democrat super PAC. Here's a list of 313 stories Maza wrote
00:24:20.940 for this Democrat super PAC. They weren't journalism. They were attacks, partisan attacks,
00:24:26.060 from a campaign war room. And you'll notice the date there. As soon as the campaign ended,
00:24:32.460 as soon as Trump became president, Maza left the Media Matters super PAC to work for Vox,
00:24:38.140 but doing the same thing. Just calling himself a journalist now, but still pretending to be just
00:24:42.700 folks. I'm just folks. I'm a grassroots social justice actor. It's just me, gay wonk, and I'm so
00:24:49.020 friendly. Yeah, but no. See, Vox, they're owned by a company called Comcast. 0.94
00:24:56.060 Here's their website. How big is Comcast? They own NBC. They own cell phone companies,
00:25:05.120 cable companies, movie companies, internet companies. Around the world, actually, their
00:25:09.180 market capitalization, that's what the stock market says they're worth. I checked, it's $185
00:25:14.680 billion as of today. Nearly 200,000 employees around the world. They are one of the largest media
00:25:20.740 companies in the world. So Carlos Maza isn't just some cute, awkward social justice warrior who's a
00:25:29.460 little shy and a little goofy, and his feelings were hurt. My feelings were hurt. No, they weren't,
00:25:34.660 buddy. He's brutal. Of course he's brutal. He told us that. He believes in humiliating people.
00:25:41.220 He believes in deplatforming people. He has weird insults about Jews, as leftists often do. 0.95
00:25:48.360 But the whole thing is actually an act. It's a role he's playing. He's not just some guy.
00:25:54.480 He's a Democratic Party operative from Media Matters who led the ad boycotts against Rush Limbaugh and
00:25:59.680 against Fox News. And now they're going for Steven Crowder, but not just for ideological reasons.
00:26:03.800 It's more serious now. It's for business reasons. Now, like I say, Vox is owned by Comcast. Comcast is
00:26:10.440 a competitor to whom? To thousands and thousands and thousands of independent citizen entertainers,
00:26:19.400 citizen journalists, citizen comedians, citizen reporters, citizen commentators around the world
00:26:24.220 who are all eating Comcast's lunch. Comcast does very well. Don't worry about them. They made $12
00:26:30.100 billion profit last year. But they're not stupid. The internet killed the VCR business. The internet 0.99
00:26:35.400 killed the CD business. The internet is killing TV stations. Comcast is not going to stand by and let
00:26:41.880 the internet kill them. So they'll kill it first. So don't see Carlos Maza as just an ideological bully 0.99
00:26:49.160 and a bigot who enjoys humiliating people. See him as a tool of one of the largest media companies in
00:26:55.540 the world using a fake social justice warrior to flatten thousands, literally thousands of YouTube
00:27:02.280 competitors. Just wipe them out. And that's what you just saw. I'm guessing we here at the Rebel won't
00:27:10.600 be far behind on their enemies list. Stay with us for more.
00:27:25.540 Well, isn't this special? The annual hate fest known as Al-Quds Day is off and running in Toronto
00:27:35.500 yet again, even though the city of Toronto said it wasn't going to tolerate hate speech on its property.
00:27:43.120 Indeed, folks, last month a series of motions were approved by council in conjunction with the
00:27:47.820 Toronto Police. If protesters occupy city property without a permit, the city will issue
00:27:54.940 trespass warnings and seek reimbursement for policing costs. Well, guess what? This group does not have
00:28:02.600 a permit and this group is most certainly not paying the cost of policing. Hey, welcome to the
00:28:09.560 diversity is our strength city of Toronto. That was the Al-Quds protest. Al-Quds is a made-up 1.00
00:28:16.720 holiday created by the dictator of Iran about 40 years ago, the Ayatollah Khomeini. It's basically an
00:28:23.500 officially anti-Semitic, anti-Western holiday. So, of course, there's lots of enthusiasts for it. 1.00
00:28:29.260 I think almost 2,000 people showed up in Toronto and our own fearless David Menzies went there to
00:28:34.280 record it. David, good to see you. I have heard different reports, but it sounds like there were
00:28:40.340 a lot of people there. Do you know what? Actually, Ezra, I think, judging by last year, I think it was
00:28:46.600 half the amount of Al-Quds people. Yeah, I really do. I mean, maybe that was a logistical matter in 0.98
00:28:52.500 that they could not assemble at Queen's Park as they have done in previous years. But I saw it
00:28:59.500 noticeably smaller than what I saw last year. And I think that's a good thing. Yeah, that is a good
00:29:03.840 thing. Now, of course, Mayor John Tory, the weakest, wobbliest mayor in Canada, and that's, I mean,
00:29:10.700 it's a very low bar. He said, well, we're not going to have this anti-Semitic group with these hate
00:29:15.940 messages without a permit. We're going to charge them for security. None of that happened. They
00:29:21.380 didn't have a permit. They weren't charged with security. And in fact, police focused on you and
00:29:27.200 the Jewish counterproductions. Yeah, no, Ezra, it's not a matter of Mayor Tory saying, we're not going to 1.00
00:29:32.360 have this, you know, just saying it as a rhetorical statement. This was passed by council last month.
00:29:38.540 You cannot go on to city property without a permit if you're going to do what they define to be hate
00:29:43.760 speech. I think this meets the benchmark, by the way. And furthermore, if you do, guess what? You're
00:29:49.140 going to be fined. And if the police have to come in en masse with the paddy wagon and what have you,
00:29:54.020 the mounted unit, you're going to get the bill. Well, nobody was fined. I will be shocked. I will be
00:29:59.620 gobsmacked if anybody receives a bill. And we're talking tens of thousands, if not six figures in
00:30:04.720 police costs for sure. And thirdly, to add insult to injury, Ezra, at one point they decide, you know
00:30:13.900 what, we're just going to leave the U.S. consulate, march up university across Dundas, down Queen.
00:30:22.040 These are all major thoroughfares, which ended up in traffic chaos. And they got a police escort to
00:30:29.880 do so. We'll take a quick look at that. Here, take a look. I'm asking him if he has a permit.
00:30:34.140 You're in the way, sir. Excuse me.
00:30:36.360 What? Is this Sharia alarm? 0.93
00:30:38.180 Back up, please. Thank you.
00:30:39.560 Where is their permit?
00:30:40.980 Thank you.
00:30:41.980 Where is their permit?
00:30:42.780 What are you, what are you doing bashing me with your bicycle? Are you kidding me?
00:30:47.800 What are you guys doing?
00:30:49.820 How come they, this is amazing. They don't have a permit and you're escorting them.
00:30:55.780 This is against the law, sir. How do I make a citizen's arrest?
00:31:01.160 That, that is amazing. I mean, they shouldn't be shutting down an entire street. And they are.
00:31:09.760 And the cops are turning on us, the messenger. You know?
00:31:16.960 Well, I guess this is a very sad day in Toronto's history. They're completely
00:31:21.860 being aided and abetted by the police.
00:31:26.240 Now, David, I got to tell you, I don't like the idea of politicians banning peaceful political
00:31:31.020 rallies, even for odious points of view, like these guys have. The left would probably call
00:31:36.000 my point of view odious. Yeah. But if you, but I know for a fact that some of the crazy
00:31:42.040 anti-Semitism here, if it were being done by white supremacist alt-right, which is the media 0.67
00:31:50.200 is obsessed with, there's a handful of white supremacists in the entire country, most of whom 0.73
00:31:55.640 are just undercover cops with honey traps for these folks.
00:31:58.300 It's not a real thing. You saw the real thing there. I want to show you one guy who, like,
00:32:05.480 again, the media would go ape if they saw these kind of anti-Semitic crazy talk. That one guy
00:32:12.140 calling for the execution of gays, if that was a Christian pastor saying that he'd be in prison, 1.00
00:32:19.260 but he's Muslim, so it's fine. But check out that same guy who was calling for the execution 0.99
00:32:23.200 of gays. Listen to him mock our immigration laws. This is from your interview with him. 0.99
00:32:27.600 What would happen to a gay couple in Gaza?
00:32:30.200 They executed according to Islamic law. Islam doesn't endorse gayism. Islam doesn't endorse 0.96
00:32:35.640 homosexuality. Okay, so would you like to see Sharia law in Canada replace Canadian law? 0.88
00:32:41.220 At some point it will. You know, because we have families, we are making babies. You're not.
00:32:47.060 Your population is going down the slump, right? By 2016, Muslims will be the biggest religious 1.00
00:32:54.280 group the world over. What are you going to do then?
00:32:57.200 Actually, you're going to go post-Sharia even then? 0.98
00:32:59.280 I saw that. He was laughing. Ha ha. I was supposed to swear a loyalty oath to your country and queen.
00:33:05.380 Ha ha, suckers. I didn't. And that's on you. Like, he's mocking the system. 0.99
00:33:10.640 I don't know if it's a lawful requirement to actually swear that citizenship oath. I think it is.
00:33:16.020 I think it is. 0.99
00:33:16.580 And he just said in public, I didn't, and you guys are suckers. 0.97
00:33:19.480 But you want to know something, Ezra? I think he is merely ahead of the curve. I think in our lifetime, 0.96
00:33:24.700 in the interests of diversity and cultural sensitivity and political correctness and
00:33:29.560 not offending those from other cultures, et cetera, I can see this oath being done away
00:33:33.960 with or being made optional. Yeah.
00:33:35.640 A hundred percent.
00:33:36.300 You know what? In some small way, I give that guy some credit because at least he was intellectually
00:33:42.480 honest. How many people would have sworn that oath and lied about it? He actually
00:33:46.600 seemed to hold that his oath was meaningful, so he withheld it.
00:33:51.360 And, you know, Ezra, what scares me about that? I mean, you know, throughout the Islamic world, 1.00
00:33:56.460 and I don't say this with any relish or any glee, but there is a high illiteracy rate.
00:34:03.040 And I think when you have a large contingency of people who are not educated, these are
00:34:11.000 perfect stooges to, you know, get radicalized. This individual, the more we talked, I got to
00:34:17.940 learn about him. He's a U of T graduate in the sciences.
00:34:22.320 Oh, really? You know his name?
00:34:23.400 I don't know his name. And he claims he went to U of T, of course. He has children.
00:34:30.580 The question I wish, I'm kicking myself in hindsight that I didn't ask him, Ezra, is
00:34:38.500 that he believes that Sharia law is inevitable. He thinks Sharia law is a good thing because 1.00
00:34:43.900 infidels such as gays will be executed. I think the question to have asked him, and 1.00
00:34:49.340 I think this could have been a really chilling answer one way or the other, is that you have
00:34:54.240 children, if one of your kids came out as being gay, would your unconditional love as
00:35:01.180 a father eclipse Sharia, Quranic law, or nope, the law is the law and you have to go to the 0.95
00:35:09.480 gallows? I wonder what he would say to that.
00:35:11.920 Well, I think he would say we would just un-gay him or something. Like he had a funny phrase 0.99
00:35:18.860 there about he's against gayism, which I didn't know was a thing.
00:35:23.460 And of course, Al-Quds, as you said, is a creature born out of Iran. And remember when 1.00
00:35:29.120 Mr. I Need a Dinner Jacket was doing that U.S. university tour some almost 10 years ago,
00:35:34.440 and he said to incredible laughter, oh, there are no gay people in Iran. 0.97
00:35:40.540 Well, he's right, because they stoned them to death. So they're not there very long. 0.92
00:35:44.160 I want to show you to me what was the most upsetting part of it. And it was the police
00:35:49.080 getting mad, not at these protesters who were violating a city bylaw, but at you. And some
00:35:57.300 Jewish reporters, some Jewish counter protesters. Let's take a look at that.
00:36:01.120 Why is the city turning a blind eye? That's a question that we're asking. You know, a few
00:36:07.040 minutes ago, the police drove all the pro-Israel protesters, literally herded us like cattle
00:36:11.980 with their bicycles, all the way across to the other side, under the guise of safety.
00:36:16.960 Safety would be had if they wouldn't have this happening anyways. It's illegal.
00:36:20.740 Shouldn't be happening. It's hate speech. If they wouldn't let this happen, they wouldn't
00:36:24.540 have to worry about my safety.
00:36:25.740 It looks like a gentleman with a flag of Israel is being pressured by a police officer to,
00:36:31.440 I don't know, put a burqa over it, because he might be inciting these fine intellectuals 0.94
00:36:40.120 marching illegally up University Avenue.
00:36:42.700 Do you have a permit?
00:36:43.320 I don't want to talk to you.
00:36:44.540 Do you have a permit?
00:36:45.280 It's your business.
00:36:45.940 Go to the police.
00:36:46.820 Really? It's none of my business?
00:36:48.160 It's not your business.
00:36:49.000 Do you have a permit, sir?
00:36:50.140 It's none of your business.
00:36:51.260 Oh, I think it is. This is a public street.
00:36:52.900 I live here, sir. I was born in Canada, and you don't have a permit.
00:36:57.660 Go file a complaint.
00:36:58.920 You don't have a permit, do you?
00:37:01.160 I'm harassing him?
00:37:02.980 Officer, I'm asking him if he has a permit.
00:37:07.440 You're in the way, sir. Excuse me.
00:37:10.140 Is this Sharia law?
00:37:11.500 Back up, please. Thank you.
00:37:12.900 Where is their permit?
00:37:14.300 Thank you.
00:37:15.140 Where is their permit?
00:37:16.820 What are you doing bashing me with your bicycle? Are you kidding me?
00:37:20.900 Now, you told me that that cop was actually bumping you with his bike tire.
00:37:25.600 That's really weird.
00:37:27.540 Unfortunately, because it was, you know, below my waist, the camera didn't capture that.
00:37:31.780 But I can swear to you that is the case.
00:37:33.880 Both of them did that.
00:37:34.800 They were using their bicycle wheel.
00:37:36.160 Look, it's not as though I'm battered and bruised.
00:37:38.920 Not at all.
00:37:39.840 But that is, you know, the definition of an assault.
00:37:43.220 And secondly, what predicated it?
00:37:45.500 I mean, when you see one of the ringleaders, he said, you're harassing me.
00:37:50.880 And he called over the cops and they came running.
00:37:53.960 And by the way, I do not want to sound like I'm bashing the cops.
00:37:58.400 Most of the cops, I think, are fantastic guys.
00:38:01.240 They're often in a horrible situation in trying to keep the peace and uphold the law is wrong.
00:38:06.000 But these two guys, I don't know what it is.
00:38:09.500 I think they send some of the same cops to cover these Al-Quds and, you know, Palestine House demonstrations.
00:38:17.100 And I think, Ezra, a bit of Stockholm Syndrome sets in.
00:38:21.320 They become kind of on a friendly basis with these very odious people.
00:38:26.360 That's a theory.
00:38:26.900 Another is my working theory, which is it's just easier to move you out of the way than a thousand screaming jihadist sympathizers.
00:38:37.360 Well, it is easier. 0.99
00:38:38.660 There's one David Menzies and there's 100, 200, 500 people who are talking about killing gays. 0.97
00:38:43.560 Who's easier from a practical point of view to shove over? 0.97
00:38:46.680 If he would have bumped them with his bicycle tire, he could have a ride on his hands.
00:38:50.480 Yeah, and that's always the default.
00:38:52.180 First of all, Ezra, if he says, sir, could you please, you know, I would do that.
00:38:56.180 I'm not trying to make their jobs even more difficult than it is.
00:38:59.620 But I'm getting a little sick and tired of if you ask them insensitive questions, you're going to cause a riot.
00:39:05.520 If you wave the flag of the Star of David, you are going to cause a riot.
00:39:10.320 Look, these acts, these legal acts, as provocative as they may be to some people,
00:39:17.280 shouldn't be the reason to say don't do it because the bullies will act like a child having a temper tantrum. 0.89
00:39:23.980 The onus is on them to be conditioned by the law, Ezra.
00:39:28.680 See, David, I have my own personal dystopian time machine.
00:39:32.260 Whenever I travel to the United Kingdom, I see five years into our own dark future.
00:39:36.100 Yes.
00:39:36.400 So I can assure you that this will get much worse and that in the future, police will proactively keep you out.
00:39:43.160 As they keep out, for example, Tommy Robinson.
00:39:45.180 Police themselves will escort rioters, as they did to some of Tommy Robinson's events.
00:39:51.640 This will not get better.
00:39:53.420 This will get worse.
00:39:54.880 I have seen it with my eyes in the United Kingdom.
00:39:57.540 And I guess part of our job here is just to document it.
00:40:01.000 So thank you for doing that.
00:40:01.880 Oh, and I can tell you, Jessica, again, whose last name I still cannot pronounce properly, so I will not draw.
00:40:08.240 She did fantastic work in the UK.
00:40:10.100 And the one moment that sticks in my mind about her coverage, Ezra,
00:40:13.780 was when she as a journalist went over to interview the protesters of Tommy Robinson.
00:40:18.560 And that dummy of a policewoman says, oh, no, you got to go back with your people, your people.
00:40:25.280 Wait a minute. 0.99
00:40:25.920 She doesn't have a dog in this race. 0.99
00:40:28.620 She's a journalist.
00:40:29.540 And then says the ludicrous thing, which was a technical impossibility of shouting her questions 100 meters,
00:40:37.160 you know, knowing that we're not going to get any audio that way.
00:40:40.400 And I'm just, you know, I think you're right.
00:40:43.120 This is the next step with police being emboldened as thought police, if you will.
00:40:47.880 You said that you respect most police officers in Canada.
00:40:50.520 I think that's right.
00:40:51.680 I think it's 80 or 90 percent of police officers in Canada are still real cops.
00:40:56.440 And it's mainly the brass and some political officers who are on specialty beats that are bad.
00:41:02.920 In my dystopian time machine of the future in the UK, I believe that it's probably about 50-50 now.
00:41:09.560 Oh, my goodness.
00:41:10.340 And the police have been so inculcated with Islamophilia.
00:41:14.880 And, you know, I have seen with my own eyes people being asked to take down the union flag, the union jacket.
00:41:22.560 Yes.
00:41:23.480 Because it's racist.
00:41:24.800 Yes.
00:41:27.400 That's normal in the UK to be asked to take down the flag of St. George, across St. George with the English flag.
00:41:33.160 That's not even news anymore.
00:41:35.280 Cops asked for that to happen all the time.
00:41:38.340 So so it's I think that's five years from now.
00:41:43.720 You know what?
00:41:44.560 I'm not going to argue with you, Ezra, because you've made a profound case to support your point.
00:41:50.600 And you even forgot an incredible profound example, which you covered when you were over there a few years ago.
00:41:56.480 The fellow at the convenience store who had the say no to terrorism sign.
00:42:01.620 And I mean, can you imagine like what's the alternative that, you know, that that a pro-terrorism sign?
00:42:10.120 Yeah.
00:42:10.240 You're talking about John Fletcher.
00:42:11.440 The police literally told him to take down a say no to terrorism sign.
00:42:15.140 And that was just incredible.
00:42:18.840 Give me another 30 seconds in that same city.
00:42:21.400 Different case.
00:42:22.700 I was meeting with someone and the police sent a spy truck by.
00:42:26.460 Yes.
00:42:26.800 To video cameras to spy on me, meeting with the family.
00:42:30.440 I wouldn't have believed it.
00:42:31.400 I thought a spy truck that doesn't exist.
00:42:33.740 That's that sounds like conspiracy theory.
00:42:36.460 I saw it with my own eyes.
00:42:37.920 A big truck pulled up to where I was just talking to a family.
00:42:40.600 And it went with the cameras to feel who's this person meeting with the right family and spying on people, spying, creeping on people's Facebook.
00:42:52.620 The city of London itself met police there, police there have 900 police on the Facebook beat.
00:42:58.460 900, 900 police.
00:43:01.660 You know, the worst thing I can say, Ezra, is that the only thing George Orwell got wrong was the chronology.
00:43:06.880 You know, he said 1984, which was the reverse of 1948 when it was written.
00:43:13.140 But it was, you know, it's the 2000 teens, this coming to fruition in the UK.
00:43:19.220 And I hope you're wrong.
00:43:20.940 You're right on so many things.
00:43:22.280 You're right on just about everything. 0.98
00:43:23.780 But I hope you're wrong about a five year timeline for this garbage to come to our dominion. 0.97
00:43:29.260 I don't want to see that. 0.97
00:43:30.900 You know what?
00:43:31.780 It wasn't actually a police problem in Toronto last weekend.
00:43:35.460 It was a political and journalistic problem.
00:43:38.500 And the politicians show they don't care.
00:43:40.920 And the journalists show they don't care.
00:43:42.460 If anything, they're on the side of the protesters and against you.
00:43:45.280 And so the police take their direction from the court of public opinion, the journalists, and the court of public law, the court of law.
00:43:54.460 The politicians, the prosecutors, the police are taking their steer from politicians.
00:44:00.580 John Tory's fine with that.
00:44:01.680 And so why shouldn't the police be?
00:44:04.280 Anyway, we're out of time, my friend.
00:44:05.400 One last thing.
00:44:06.180 Where was the state appointed stenographers at the CBC?
00:44:08.940 This was walking distance away from their headquarters.
00:44:11.460 And it reminds me when the hijab hoax protest was going on and they were marching down legally with a permit, University Avenue, a couple of years ago or a year and a half ago.
00:44:20.700 And I'll never forget it, Ezra, there was a CBC news van that came along because there was one lane of traffic open.
00:44:27.700 They came to a crawl.
00:44:29.460 They read the signs.
00:44:30.840 Oh, this is a protest about the hijab hoax. 0.91
00:44:34.040 You know, hit the gas and get out of there.
00:44:37.400 I mean, you know, it is blatant right now.
00:44:40.640 Blatant what the bias is in terms of the political correct narrative on diversity.
00:44:46.340 Yeah.
00:44:46.700 Well, we're in trouble.
00:44:48.680 All right, folks, stay with us.
00:44:49.620 More ahead.
00:45:00.960 What do you think of the show today?
00:45:02.380 What do you think about someone calling himself Gay Wonk being mad when someone mocks him and being so mad that he whips up a Twitter mob that gets YouTube to de-platform thousands, literally thousands,
00:45:18.300 of independent content creators?
00:45:20.320 I think that's the state of the left.
00:45:24.000 But it's not a two-way street, is it?
00:45:27.300 I mean, if you want swearing, if you want humiliation, if you want offensiveness, listen to Bill Maher's show.
00:45:36.640 And by the way, I do.
00:45:37.600 I mean, he offends me all the time, but I find it entertaining.
00:45:40.860 And he's actually fairly articulate on issues sometimes.
00:45:44.240 Jon Stewart's Saturday Night Live isn't even watchable.
00:45:48.160 I think they're neither funny nor sharp.
00:45:50.060 But why is it that only conservative comedians aren't allowed to be outrageous?
00:45:55.380 I think of our own friend Gavin McInnes and Stephen Crowder.
00:45:59.100 Isn't it allowed to make jokes?
00:46:01.480 Isn't every joke a little revolution?
00:46:04.180 I think so.
00:46:04.880 I think that's exactly why they go for the comedians.
00:46:07.760 Because if you're laughing at someone, if you're laughing at a Hillary Clinton or a Barack Obama,
00:46:13.180 they lose power over you and you start a great revolution.
00:46:16.520 I think that's why the left believes in censorship.
00:46:19.660 Well, that's our show for today.
00:46:21.740 I'll be back on Monday, of course, over the weekend.
00:46:24.060 Please enjoy all our other Rebel YouTube videos.
00:46:27.000 So until then, on behalf of us here at Rebel World Headquarters, to you at home,
00:46:31.340 good night and keep fighting for freedom while you still can.
