00:00:45.880 Well, welcome back to another Rebel Roundup on Friday.
00:00:51.360 It's November 6th.
00:00:52.720 that day for me and for many that's the one-year anniversary of the ostrich slaughter um but
00:00:59.220 Tamara nevertheless it's good to see you likewise good to see you too I'm excited to we got so much
00:01:04.780 to talk about today I'm very excited to hear for what our guest has to say about the masters of
00:01:10.380 our destiny budget uh but before we get into that let's let everybody know how they can take part

00:01:29.780 dollars we're going to bring it up on the show that's right thanks for saying that that's going
00:01:34.520 to be something we want you to weigh into about how prosperous our country is looking and to help
00:01:41.400 us walk through that conversation I'm going to bring on our guest it's Chris Sims she's the
00:01:46.220 Alberta director with the Canadian Taxpayer Federation.
00:01:48.860 Thanks for being back.
00:01:51.420 Hi.
00:01:52.260 Oh, well, we definitely need you to race us through this.
00:01:56.740 Let's start with what's going on behind you there.
00:02:00.560 Tell us about that truck.
00:02:02.520 This is the Canadian Taxpayers Federation debt clock.
00:02:06.400 It is a huge digital counter.
00:02:08.560 I'll get all the way out of the way.
00:02:09.900 It's a huge digital counter.
00:02:11.240 Can you read it?
00:02:12.080 Does it say taxpayers the right direction?
00:02:14.240 Yes.
00:02:15.080 Okay, good.
00:02:15.980 and then it mirrors itself so uh so this is our debt clock and it is a huge digital screen
00:02:21.500 bolted to the side of a very large cube truck i think this thing is like 26 feet long it's more
00:02:27.180 than 10 feet high and we drove it all the way out here to ottawa where i'm standing right now
00:02:33.660 because of course the federal budget uh was dropped yesterday and in ottawa budget week
00:02:39.740 is like a thing. So like all of the econ nerds who like to talk about fungible assets and all
00:02:46.160 that stuff that I don't understand. Budget week is a big week. And then they delivered it yesterday.
00:02:51.360 Franco Terrazzano, our federal director, who is a frequent guest on the show. He was in lock up for
00:02:56.160 hours going over the numbers. And we did this just to remind the politicians and the government that
00:03:01.620 we have un-money. We're in massive debt. We do not have money to be spending it like this and to warn
00:03:07.580 people about the interest that we're paying on the debt. So it's getting through. We did have a
00:03:12.400 really big turnout for our press conference that we had on Sunday to tee up debt, budget, debt week,
00:03:18.080 budget week. And so, yeah, we're getting some good impact, getting a lot of visuals in front
00:03:22.180 of Parliament Hill. So just reminding people what we owe. Yeah. Reminding people to be on top of it,
00:03:28.560 be involved. And of course, the lawmakers. Oh, my goodness. Now, speaking of crunching the numbers
00:03:34.300 and everything like that um i want to go to actually one of your posts here because you
00:03:40.200 went through some numbers here some scary numbers when it comes to media yeah on the government
00:03:45.720 payroll yeah um so prime minister carney is giving the media more of your money and here is what is
00:03:54.340 going down in the budget so do you want to do you want me to read through your post or you kind of
00:03:58.800 remember it yeah for sure so we're getting 300 million more dollars for the state broadcaster
00:04:03.880 for the cbc um people will recall that we already pay around 1.4 billion dollars with the b to the
00:04:12.280 cbc so 300 million dollars more um i need to always remind people that uh cbc's uh viewership
00:04:20.040 ratings are like rounding errors like like really um for cbc newsworld or whatever they call their
00:04:27.080 news channel now it's like two percent two percent of canadians are choosing to watch them
00:04:33.160 um and even on their main net say you don't want to watch cbc news and you're you know you want to
00:04:37.880 watch nice things like i don't know um downton abbey or something right pick something um even
00:04:43.880 wheel of fortune reruns whatever it is um even then they're not breaking four percent for viewership
00:04:50.200 for Canadians. So it's really small. Sorry, go ahead. That doesn't surprise me at all. I think
00:04:57.640 that people are catching on. And I can't help but be reminded of the last election, you know,
00:05:03.020 before Carney Swipton out of nowhere came into the country. And the cheers that Pierre Polyev
00:05:09.760 would get when he would say, we're going to defund the CBC. I mean, that was by far his loudest
00:05:15.920 applause yeah the media knew their time was close to being up and now we're seeing more 300 million
00:05:23.760 extra for the cbc it's the complete opposite what do you make of that tamara well it's it's funding
00:05:29.840 propaganda and there's really in my opinion no other way to say it you cannot pay media to do
00:05:35.040 their to do their job the government cannot subsidize media and um as i said i should have
00:05:40.240 a report coming out on the budget soon but um one of the things i was talking about is you know watch
00:05:44.640 with the mainstream media how they're going to report on this budget and then keep in mind how
00:05:49.200 they frame it and where their paycheck is coming from and that's going to tell the tale absolutely
00:05:54.800 i wanted to stress because uh i'm a trained journalist i went to journalism school i worked
00:06:00.640 largely in the mainstream media i was at the ctv parliamentary bureau for years i was the six o'clock
00:06:07.440 news producer in ottawa for ctv for years i was a long time member a permanent member of the
00:06:12.560 parliamentary press gallery i even worked for cbc for a little while in ottawa it was fine
00:06:18.240 like it's no personal thing i have with them the issue here is that a free press is free from
00:06:27.680 government from government that means free from government control government influence and
00:06:34.320 government funding i put it this way quite often even if the late great god rest his soul rex murphy
00:06:40.960 were hosting the cbc news and he was throwing it over to grapes to don cherry for the sports
00:06:46.960 would i personally enjoy watching that a little more yeah probably should it get
00:06:52.160 one nickel of funding from government absolutely not not agreed so this isn't even about the
00:07:00.320 politics this is about the fundamentals of a free press yeah you cannot hold the powerful
00:07:08.320 government to account if you are counting on that powerful government for your paycheck
00:07:13.760 period no you can't the press simply isn't free and also that it's 501 million for all of the
00:07:22.320 other media the rest of the media i think pretty much over 95 percent of something like that
00:07:28.240 canadian is in some way taking money from the government and it's you can see almost 28 000
00:07:35.520 per reporter yeah almost 28 000 per reporter but if just how much cbc is getting and like you said
00:07:43.680 the viewership is so much down but they're getting such a huge chunk of all that too so think of the
00:07:49.280 role that they're playing in society for the state even our cultural minister i think he's minister
00:07:54.320 of culture mark miller whatever they call him now and uh he refers to it as state financed media
00:08:01.440 that's what he actually calls it itself wow i didn't hear that actually media incredible so
00:08:06.560 absolutely crazy here you've got another post here that's interesting here this is about journalists
00:08:12.800 and basically what you were saying that they should never be paid uh we talked about the 500
00:08:18.560 million subsidy so actually we'll move on to your third post here i think um which is the cbc
00:08:24.640 affordability we've got a clip here from the coin clip can we play that one the first indication we
00:08:33.760 got that something was kind of odd was this revelation that the deficit for last year 26 20
00:08:38.640 26 uh was not 67 billion which we were told six months ago but 39 billion dollars this extraordinary
00:08:45.600 revision uh well it got even odder when you looked at it and they projected forward in time and you
00:08:50.480 You see the same revisions in spending and revenues, much higher spending than they thought, much lower spending than they thought, much higher revenues than they thought.
00:08:58.160 So you think, okay, well, maybe the same error will work in our favor on the deficit this time.
00:09:01.720 No, the deficit's exactly the same as it was, or more or less exactly the same.
00:09:05.420 They took that revenue windfall, that spending windfall, and they spent virtually all of it at a time when economists are practically begging them, would you please get serious about the deficit and the debt?
00:09:16.800 It's not a crisis now, but before it becomes a crisis.
00:09:19.680 But there's very little on that front.
00:09:21.160 There's very little on the productivity front.
00:09:23.400 It's just more or less the same as that last budget last year, which was such a disappointment.
00:09:27.660 But would you say, and I'll get to everybody in a moment,
00:09:29.620 would you say, Andrew, though, that any of that new spending is needed?
00:09:32.600 You know, because Canadians are feeling the pinch of things and housing is an issue
00:09:37.400 and some of the new spending.
00:09:38.780 I don't know. Does any of it make sense? Yeah. Sure.
00:09:40.940 Sure. No, no. The issue isn't that every single program or thing isn't a good program.
00:09:45.580 The issue is it's going to all add up.
00:09:47.580 So if you're going to spend more in some areas, you should be able in a half a trillion dollar budget to find savings elsewhere.
00:09:55.720 They're like, how could it ever get so bad?
00:09:58.040 Where's the money going?
00:10:00.960 It's going all to you, right?
00:10:03.440 Yeah.
00:10:03.820 So credit where it is due.
00:10:06.140 Andrew Coyne, I haven't seen him lately, but he was very quite consistent when they were saying we're going to start putting media on government payroll.
00:10:14.100 he said this is a conflict of interest directly and that this shouldn't happen so again this isn't
00:10:19.160 about politics it's about a free press and it's about the money um and so credit where it's due
00:10:25.140 he did say this is a conflict of interest and it shouldn't happen but the reason why i highlighted
00:10:30.140 that clip is because everything you saw in that frame okay the the tv cameras the lights the
00:10:37.960 microphone if they were in the cbc ottawa studio i couldn't tell it looked like it everything in
00:10:43.420 behind you the people talking because talking heads on cbc get paid per hit to do that in the
00:10:51.640 background the people just working in the background are getting extra money in the
00:10:55.420 background are like producers and stuff sure sure no no no the talking heads who like i'll like that
00:11:00.160 those two people get paid for appearances oh not like you kim you're here for free you're the free
00:11:07.620 press right yes yes we wouldn't accept money if he offered it right so this is the issue um and so 0.88
00:11:14.420 i wanted to stress to people that see this this debt 1.3 trillion dollars in debt we have un
00:11:21.460 money un money right every dollar that the government is taking from taxpayers and now
00:11:26.820 handing to media regardless of that journalist political persuasions i don't give a toot about
00:11:32.180 that okay um they're giving money there that is borrowed money plus interest borrowed money plus
00:11:38.860 interest the interest on this debt is costing people a billion dollars a week a week that is
00:11:48.120 the equivalent my friends of building a brand new hospital every saturday but instead of moving in
00:11:54.260 the patients and the doctors everybody stand back tear it down over and over and over every saturday
00:12:00.220 night all year that's what we're wasting on interest and yet we're going to give the media
00:12:06.660 more money like this makes no sense whatsoever and key this is key the taxpayers federation we
00:12:13.660 push for accountable government and how do you hold the government to account if you don't have
00:12:19.960 a free press that's a huge part of being able to speak truth to power is having a free press
00:12:27.140 um black locks does not take money rebel does not take money juno does not take money credit
00:12:33.980 where it's due canadaland does not take money okay they're more of on the left side of the
00:12:39.300 podcast spectrum like there are some and of course lots of podcasters there are some
00:12:44.060 plucky independent sources of media still that aren't taking government money but my goodness
00:12:48.860 it is dwindling small group of people here in canada and it makes you think what are they
00:12:53.800 teaching in journalism school we always hear this oh rebel news not real news not real news
00:12:58.900 I don't see any criticism from I guess those who like the leftist media whatever you want to call
00:13:06.720 it talking about this issue that the press is no longer free anymore and when you think of the
00:13:13.000 coverage of even the trucker convoy and how it could have been different for you to bear in your
00:13:18.380 outcome like what would that have been like you think if the press was free with everything that
00:13:23.280 you went through and are still going through well i mean that's exactly it it was quite clear
00:13:28.960 obviously from us on the ground um how they were framing this in the narrative that they were
00:13:34.080 trying to portray i mean we have videos of the cbc setting up outside but turning their cameras
00:13:39.440 to where you know the crowd was very sparse as opposed towards parliament hill where there was
00:13:43.680 you know smiles hugs lots of happiness and um we actually have i've spoken to so many people as
00:13:50.560 far away from british columbia who were watching the news and didn't believe what they were seeing
00:13:55.520 and came to ottawa during that time to see it for themselves and thank goodness uh for citizen
00:14:00.560 journalists for rebel news for showing up um and all the independent journalists that showed up
00:14:05.040 that actually showed the real story because you are not being paid to parrot a narrative um which
00:14:11.280 is something that i personally will always be grateful for absolutely and i've said this before
00:14:16.000 we live stream too I mean we get all hands on deck on big situations like the convoy or even
00:14:21.800 the ostrich farm um one year ago during call night and we live stream so the people are basically
00:14:28.320 there they're seeing what's happening we don't have time to concoct anything oh should I put
00:14:31.820 my camera over here and and block out that we're showing you in real time that is the news uh we
00:14:38.660 have another clip yep go on oh I just wanted to ask Chris I just want to ask Chris so in that
00:14:43.060 clip with Andrew Coyne he's saying you know this is where I debt 1.3 trillion it's not a crisis
00:14:47.420 yet I mean I think 1.3 million in debt is a bit of a crisis yeah what do you think it's going to
00:14:52.900 take for these guys to recognize that we do have a debt crisis because it's projected to reach 1.6
00:14:58.460 trillion yes so I always try to look for the silver lining the fact that they were even talking
00:15:05.080 about the debt on the CBC at issue panel that's a win like legit that's a win to have that
00:15:11.720 break through the narrative because there's lots of other stuff I'm sure they talked about that day
00:15:15.860 but for them to bring that up and talk about that actual number 1.3 trillion which is the accurate
00:15:21.320 number that's good yeah like that matters because there's still lots of folks that'll be watching
00:15:26.820 that show right so that's good to get that out there and then the press gallery watches it and
00:15:31.180 then it filters out so I was thrilled actually when I heard them talking about that to the point
00:15:36.860 of crisis okay um finance minister and then eventual liberal prime minister liberal prime
00:15:44.560 minister paul martin um he was he's largely credited with slaying the deficit okay balancing
00:15:51.080 the budget making that clock go in reverse start paying down the debt he's quoted as saying and i'm 0.99
00:15:58.660 paraphrasing him um that damn clock that damn clock i can't get these numbers this clock out of my 0.98
00:16:05.620 head so we must we must slay the deficit credit also where it's due at the time reform party 0.99
00:16:13.180 leader preston manning was up there at the time finance critic monty salberg with reform and
00:16:18.940 the canadian alliance they were really pushing on things like deficit and debt um and back then
00:16:24.060 our debt clock was literally a converted like livestock trailer it was a metal trailer that
00:16:29.280 had like physical you know like uh clock radios with those digital like blocks and it had all
00:16:34.860 numbers in it um we had to get a new one because we never think we never thought it would go over
00:16:39.660 a trillion so we had to go to the digital screen the reason why i'm telling this story is because
00:16:44.140 it was from the mid 90s and back then yeah things were things were a bit worse in the sense that i
00:16:52.460 could be corrected but i'm almost certain i'm right our credit rating was taking a bigger hit
00:16:57.420 there were some other factors economic factors that i'm not able to explain because i'm not an
00:17:02.700 economists that were worse then than they are now but we are careening in the dark at full speed
00:17:12.460 towards that crisis point and i think that's what coin was referencing because he's been in the game
00:17:18.380 for a long time he would remember what paul martin was doing when he was working to balance the
00:17:23.340 budget and start paying down the debt so i could kind of sense even by his tone i think that's what
00:17:28.320 he was referencing but boy we are getting close like yeah 2 000 bucks a second a second that's
00:17:35.340 horrifying what's truly concerning is that they have no plan like if they were saying i know
00:17:43.240 just give us another minute we'll start the diet after christmas scouts honor we'll start going to
00:17:48.840 the gym after easter it's fine there's no after christmas or after easter plan here they're not
00:17:54.020 saying we're going to spend cash to make money just now and we'll start balancing in the next
00:17:58.580 few years and paying down that debt and stop going over budget there's no plan like that's not okay
00:18:05.540 that is not okay so we're just earnestly calling for everybody to email the prime minister
00:18:11.620 and appeal to him say this is a crisis we cannot afford this anymore we have got to
00:18:17.780 quit going over budget and wasting so much money yeah well we have another clip even from the cbc
00:18:25.140 discussing basically the the answer to your question at least coming from them uh what can
00:18:30.180 be done they say the canadians are willing to give the government and its prime minister a lot of room
00:18:36.180 to try things for now well our hands are pretty much tied but let's listen to them discussing
00:18:41.780 what can be done this budget pledges to protect economic sovereignty and canadian identity it's
00:18:48.340 even called masters of our own destiny uh rosemary uh how is the government going to be selling this
00:18:54.900 budget to canadians well i mean i think i think you both hit on one of the key sort of challenges
00:19:00.420 and that is the things that canadians are worried about right now are immediate and practical and
00:19:06.820 need sort of immediate response. So yes, they've increased the grocery benefit they introduced back
00:19:13.040 in July. Peter says they've promised $11 billion for housing and for non-market housing. So those
00:19:21.380 things will help. Of course, they had already decided to continue with the pause on the federal
00:19:26.080 excise tax. So it's not as though there's nothing there. But I think that some people will be
00:19:32.000 disappointed that there is not more there and and then the piece that that peter is talking about
00:19:37.320 which of course is important and speaks to sort of the future strength of the canadian economy
00:19:42.900 in the country is much harder to kind of wrap your your mind around and your hands around
00:19:48.400 to understand how that's going to work out for you um and i i think that's going to be kind of
00:19:54.260 a communications challenge for the government and a political challenge for the government
00:19:58.900 They are going to have to explain how those things will eventually help the country.
00:20:05.780 The benefit, I guess, politically, though, Ian, is that they have a lot of political capital.
00:20:11.200 You know, the Canadians are willing to give this government and this prime minister a lot of room to try things, for now, anyway.
00:20:18.520 So if they can get some of those big pieces moving, you know,
00:20:22.780 maybe Canadians will be able to start to see how it is helping them in their everyday lives.
00:20:27.920 All right, Chris, I saw you shake your head there.
00:20:30.460 No, no, no.
00:20:31.240 And she said a lot of political capital.
00:20:33.220 What's your thoughts there?
00:20:34.700 I don't see a lot of room from regular working people.
00:20:39.940 Regular working people are, we say, fighting to make ends meet a lot.
00:20:44.000 But that literally means, like, you're going without food.
00:20:48.360 You're waiting to go to the grocery store because you can't afford to go. 0.99
00:20:52.820 And this is working people.
00:20:55.260 Every now and then, MNP does a great survey.
00:20:57.440 And it's close to half, close to half of people are within $200 every month of insolvency, of not being able to make the minimum payments on their debt.
00:21:07.920 So for normal working people outside of the Ottawa terrarium, no, I'm not hearing a lot of room.
00:21:13.960 And what's concerning here, OK, again, the debt, the interest on the debt costs you, all of you listening, $1,400 personally per year.
00:21:25.660 every man woman and child population based in canada so not just taxpayers for the taxpayer
00:21:32.200 it's higher but per population one thousand four hundred dollars that's just the interest
00:21:39.260 on the debt well i just i just did a quick search i just did a quick search and it tells me that
00:21:45.620 a child born in canada is essentially born already owing 35 uh over 35 thousand dollars
00:21:52.960 we got it based at 32 that's your share 32 000 so that baby first born wow absolutely wild so
00:22:02.360 i understand if you're looking at the long-term projection and jet debt to gdp and all the econ
00:22:08.620 nerds that get in on this but at the end of the day they can slice it and dice it however they
00:22:13.580 want they can say it's operating they can say it's capital they can say it's an investment
00:22:17.800 instead of spending at the end of the day this is the number that matters are you overspending
00:22:23.580 what you're taking in yes are they ever planning on stopping that no no who's paying for it we all
00:22:33.600 are like if we were in the situation like norway okay who has a sovereign wealth fund basically
00:22:40.880 they have trillions with a t plural us dollars basically in a piggy bank i would not be up in
00:22:48.960 arms about a lot of this stuff but we're in the opposite situation we have un-money and they're
00:22:55.100 still acting as if there's some big investment banker wheeling around their own cash and they
00:23:02.180 don't they're not and they don't have the cash they've got our wallets yes this is the result
00:23:07.800 this is the result digging into the debt and desk let's say a little bit more we have a video here
00:23:13.900 from franco tarzano about the 60 billion plus borrowed this year alone let's take a look at that
00:23:22.400 breaking the national finances folks breaking news carney just released his federal budget
00:23:30.420 let me tell you it is a debt disaster budget 2026 continues the borrowing spree interest
00:23:37.160 charges on the debt cost taxpayers more than a billion dollars every week. Folks, buckle up,
00:23:43.000 here are the numbers, okay? The federal government, the Carney government is borrowing more than 60
00:23:48.760 billion dollars this year. More than 60 billion dollars of borrowing this year. The government
00:23:55.080 is going to borrow tens of billions of dollars every year. Don't even listen to a spin about
00:23:59.880 balancing the operating budget, folks. The government is not balancing squat. It is borrowing
00:24:05.400 tens of billions of dollars every year more than 60 billion dollars this year okay from the end of
00:24:11.480 2025 to 2031 287 billion dollars to the debt gross and remember folks every single dollar
00:24:21.880 the government borrows you gotta pay interest on it okay look at the interest charges 60 billion
00:24:28.840 dollars this year okay that means interest cost taxpayers more than a billion dollars every week
00:24:35.400 Well, that's enough money to build a brand new hospital.
00:24:38.340 So imagine.
00:24:41.960 That figure, you guys keep saying,
00:24:44.800 about building a hospital every week.
00:24:47.060 I mean, that's one of our biggest issues here in British Columbia.
00:24:49.880 And of course, it's provincial.
00:24:51.080 But to think that that is what is being wasted.
00:24:54.220 It's shocking.
00:24:55.400 On interest.
00:24:56.320 That's just the interest.
00:24:57.460 I'll put it another way.
00:24:58.500 The hospital thing's true.
00:25:00.860 Put it this way.
00:25:01.820 Okay.
00:25:02.320 what we're spending on interest on the debt per week could pay the annual
00:25:08.200 salaries of 5,000 cops plus 5,000 paramedics every single week that's how
00:25:17.260 much a billion is it's a thousand million a trillion is a thousand
00:25:21.820 billion if you started counting loonies right now like Scrooge McDuck right one
00:25:26.140 two three it would take you 30 000 years to count to one trillion wow that's the pickle we're in
00:25:34.380 and yeah great shot i think that uh camera person deserves a raise there that was shooting a video
00:25:38.220 for franco we have a raise yeah it looked really good uh and thank god you guys are around to really
00:25:50.380 break it down to us because it could really go over people's heads especially if you're not a
00:25:54.140 figure person like myself and uh and you still have some trust in the state broadcasters although
00:26:00.380 even though they're talking about it a little bit more than usual um but you guys are really
00:26:05.260 breaking it down driving around that truck getting out there in front of ottawa uh we have another
00:26:10.060 video here too this is the masters of increasing debt and interest um payment i think we could
00:26:17.020 skip that one because we've kind of really talked about that let's go to this one so this is from
00:26:21.580 juno news this is about polyev on debt interest beating health care defense let's look at that
00:26:37.020 i will confess that i have no idea how to build up 733 billion dollars of new debt
00:26:42.940 which is what he's planning to do and it's going to the liberal club now the prime minister has
00:26:47.420 attempted to distract using the trump card to justify the 2.3 billion tax dollars he's given
00:26:53.980 to telesat the company of his friend dan goldberg but the excuse doesn't work because telesat is
00:27:00.220 giving a billion of those dollars to elon musk spacex for launch capabilities has the prime
00:27:06.780 minister ever discussed telesat with his public servants his ministers or his staff yes or no
00:27:12.540 Disney just used our spaceport.
00:27:18.260 Yeah, exactly.
00:27:20.660 And we know we're not going to get an answer.
00:27:22.660 Anytime Polyev asks a good question, do we ever actually get the answer?
00:27:26.700 Not really.
00:27:27.800 You know, Polyev has always been strong when it's come to the debt.
00:27:31.060 But in the last four terms, the Conservatives haven't won.
00:27:34.640 The country keeps getting more and more in debt.
00:27:36.860 I think in the last five years, we've had the bulk of the debt we've ever had
00:27:42.400 or something we've occurred in the last five years my question is is this going to be enough
00:27:47.240 is this issue going to be enough next term for the conservatives to take government
00:27:51.760 i don't know uh frankly i would like so we're non-partisan um i don't care what color jersey 0.99
00:27:58.720 the government's wearing i want them to make this stupid clock go backwards yeah um like i said 0.75
00:28:03.780 before uh prime minister paul martin when he was finance minister was wearing with red team that 0.98
00:28:08.080 the Liberal government under Trechen. Credit where it's due, Pierre Polyev has been excellent
00:28:13.600 on the debts. He was really good on inflation too. So right in the middle of the lockdown,
00:28:18.560 when they locked down the industry and production on one side and hit the printing button
00:28:24.560 on the money printing machine at the same time, it was Polyev, credit where it's due,
00:28:30.160 who was warning very loud about the inflation issue. And so was my colleague Franco Teresano,
00:28:36.240 know who you heard from um much to the ridicule quite often they were saying oh it's no problem
00:28:40.660 all these smart people were saying oh you're just making stuff up no it's true and here we are with
00:28:45.380 a major issue now with inflation that's why everything costs so bloody much okay um so he's
00:28:51.180 been very good on debt he's been very good on spending been very good on inflation frankly
00:28:55.320 i want every political party to have come out to that press conference we let them know last week
00:29:02.120 that this clock would be in Ottawa, the capital for the entire week. Please, please come look at
00:29:08.920 it for yourself. Come take a video of it for yourself. Send it to your constituents. Do a
00:29:14.780 Zoom call with your constituents in front of it. Any party is welcome to come do this. And it's
00:29:20.780 been the Conservatives that have taken it up on us so far, but we're going to have it in town for
00:29:24.300 a couple more days. So that's what we want to see. We want everyone being so gripped with this issue
00:29:29.740 that they can't help but take it seriously we want it to be the first thing on their minds
00:29:34.420 when they're thinking about the budget well as it should be i mean and it shouldn't be too much to
00:29:38.860 ask for that either i remember trudeau used to say the budget when he would say the budget would
00:29:44.240 balance itself yeah it didn't though you know of course it didn't we have another post here
00:29:49.700 reminds me of a little bit about that um so this is the canadian bpm budget uh topic here the charts
00:29:56.960 it's that it says the charts it owns course and controls its own destiny let's watch that
00:30:03.840 guys my starters of our destiny
00:30:09.520 is that the a new book is that that was so fast what exactly the budget we're looking at
00:30:21.640 I'm sorry, I have like this disclaimer up on my computer that's blocking half the screen.
00:30:27.380 That's okay. It was the budget. They were both holding it.
00:30:29.840 Yeah, it charts its own destiny. What do you think of that, Tamara?
00:30:35.060 Well, I think our colleague, Sheila Gunn-Reed, tweeted most aptly this morning that it's the masters of our own dumpster fire budget.
00:30:43.180 And of course, I watched this yesterday and, you know, I couldn't help but think, you know,
00:30:48.900 there's, you know, all the Liberals are getting up and clapping and clapping after everything
00:30:52.580 that he had to say, just like a bunch of trained SEALs.
00:30:55.100 You know, this is going to impact everyday Canadians, as Chris was saying earlier.
00:31:01.020 And I have an inkling that, you know, our Prime Minister, as soon as his tenure here
00:31:05.280 is done, he's going to fly back to the UK.
00:31:07.240 So none of this is going to affect him in the long term.
00:31:10.500 it's us our families our children and our grandchildren uh that are going to be paying
00:31:16.380 for this reckless spending absolutely we have more from polyev here on the 2.3 billion to friend
00:31:24.500 dan goldberg's teslat so a little bit more from him on that with this oh we just saw that we did
00:31:30.480 see that um okay so cbc let's go to the next one line number 10 and it's more on the 62
00:31:40.480 $2.3 billion deficit and the new measures surrounding that.
00:31:49.300 Okay, so this one is, so we've got seven takeaways from the Kearney government's second budget.
00:31:57.600 Let's talk about, see if there's any real quick that we haven't really gone through.
00:32:02.220 so the whole plan is being backed by a 11.2 billion dollar commitment over the next four
00:32:12.780 years including 3.6 billion to build supportive and transitional housing and 1.8 billion toward
00:32:19.780 mental health addictions and social supports so this is the breakdown of the plan in different
00:32:25.180 areas the government is also committing 2 billion over the next two years to build mental health
00:32:30.740 and addictions facilities. Let's hope there's emphasis on recovery there. The Trudeau government
00:32:38.280 had promised to reduce chronic homelessness by 50% by 2030, though the Parliamentary Budget
00:32:46.000 Office reported in 2024 that the government was falling short of that goal, you think? That report
00:32:53.340 acknowledged that the COVID-declared pandemic likely presented unexpected challenges.
00:32:59.320 i mean we're that's another thing i we are still suffering from what happened during lockdowns and
00:33:06.460 beyond including our businesses um actually i'd like to ask you about that chris are we ever even
00:33:12.900 going to get out of the mess that happened from how we had the knee-jerk reaction to that situation
00:33:18.540 uh the main issue that we had uh with that is the um the freezing of the bank accounts with the uh
00:33:27.720 with the Emergencies Act. Because if you have the government, as two levels of courts have said,
00:33:36.320 overstating and overstepping its bounds and freezing bank accounts, then you are intruding
00:33:43.200 on people's own privacy and you are limiting their ability to express themselves. And at the
00:33:49.080 Taxpayers Federation, we're always encouraging people to speak up for themselves, to speak truth
00:33:54.460 the power, to stand up and be heard is even one of our slogans. And so we did come out quite
00:34:00.520 strongly on that. The rest of it isn't really within our mandate of lower taxes, less waste,
00:34:04.720 accountable government. But we were speaking out against the Emergencies Act for sure.
00:34:10.020 I'm sorry, but I really do need to go because I need to go. There are some updated budget numbers
00:34:15.220 that I have to put into our system, like physically that haven't been put into the system yet. So I do
00:34:20.380 need to jet but I hope that this has been a good update for you ladies here it has been so much
00:34:26.600 this let oh she really had to jet well thank you she was so good to walk us through that
00:34:31.560 so again that's Chris Sims with the Canadian Taxpayer Federation you can follow her online
00:34:37.080 very easily I'm sure she is the Alberta director they do great work across the country as you
00:34:42.700 could see from that Ottawa clip so how depressing yeah I just want to say you know going back to
00:34:49.560 that previous clip that you were just showing or that news article where they're going to eradicate
00:34:53.760 homelessness within 10 years. But then when you look at the numbers of the new immigrants that
00:34:58.960 they're going to be bringing in, I mean, we don't have that infrastructure here even in place yet.
00:35:03.060 So how can we be talking? 200,000 temporary residents are just going to get an automatic,
00:35:08.120 they're automatically going to be granted a permanent resident status. And I believe that's
00:35:11.720 on top of 380,000 new immigrants that they want to bring in. But we just simply don't have
00:35:19.500 the housing infrastructure for it now last year we heard mark carney talk about you know building
00:35:24.460 homes they're going to build faster they're going to do this faster than we've seen in generations
00:35:28.620 but that has not manifested um he's been our prime minister for almost two years now we're coming
00:35:33.820 into uh 2027 here soon um and there's still nothing has been done so i don't understand
00:35:41.100 how they can be you know parroting this we're going to end homelessness but at the same time
00:35:44.540 they're bringing in all these new uh people into our country without having the existing
00:35:48.940 infrastructure to support that already. Yep, actually that same article talks a little bit 1.00
00:35:53.680 about what Canada is aiming to do with immigration. It says Canada is aiming to admit
00:35:58.800 370,000 temporary residents, 380,000 permanent residents per year over the next three years,
00:36:08.580 and these targets line up with the numbers released in last year's budget. So they're
00:36:13.840 still planning to move forward, but you're right, what is the actual plan for that?
00:36:17.160 Another little interesting thing is it looks like they're considering giving us more time to file our taxes, which I'd appreciate, actually, and considering a new tax filing date.
00:36:30.600 Every year it's been by April 30th.
00:36:33.820 So we'll see if that change is coming forward.
00:36:36.260 But, yeah, how depressed are you about the whole everything, the situation we're in?
00:36:42.060 How do we get out?
00:36:43.100 Is that likely to happen even with a new government in a few years?
00:36:47.160 I mean, there has to be some serious cuts. And, you know, I do appreciate what she was saying about how they're just not taking this seriously. And they're not taking it seriously. Like I said, as soon as you're born, you already owe $35,000 to the government, just for your share of the debt. That's just to come into this world, just to be born. They have to, we got to stop this reckless spending. As I said, this is affecting us, everyday Canadians, it's going to affect your children, it's going to affect your grandchildren.
00:37:14.420 children, and they are going to be the ones that are paying the price for this.
00:37:18.120 Not Mark Carney, not Mark Miller, you know, not Dominic LeBlanc, none of these people.
00:37:24.780 It's really going to affect.
00:37:26.180 The bottom line is it's going to come down to everyday Canadians that are going to have
00:37:30.260 to pay for this and they really need to take it seriously.
00:37:33.500 Like I was saying earlier, I mean, I think $1.3 trillion in debt and this rolling number
00:37:40.920 of increasing every minute is a crisis it's a crisis for our children's future oh my gosh
00:37:47.980 absolutely well it was good to go through that we are going to have a break and then we'll be back
00:37:53.160 with a little bit more on a different subject for generations many Canadians have preserved
00:37:59.980 more than just firearms they've preserved history tradition competition memories but under Trudeau
00:38:09.000 and now carny, heirlooms, estates, collectibles, and competition firearms now have to be surrendered
00:38:17.400 and destroyed. While violent gun criminals get pass after pass, openly ignoring any legislation,
00:38:28.220 lawful gun owners are trapped in an increasingly unfair legal system. But we can help. Canada's
00:38:35.700 National Firearms Association's Save Firearms program offers the legal pathway to preserve
00:38:41.920 what matters while we work towards a political solution. Don't let yours be next. Save history,
00:38:49.560 save heritage, save firearms. Visit nfa.ca today to learn more. Hey folks, do you love a good cup

00:39:40.820 Resistance Coffee has been doing the real thing all along,

00:39:58.060 It is worth every penny.
00:39:59.460 Folks, this is great coffee, and this is the coffee to brew.
00:40:03.300 Rebel News.
00:40:07.520 I said a different topic, but actually there's some interesting stuff here.
00:40:10.980 If we just sit a little bit longer when we look at what's happening with the immigration,
00:40:15.800 MP Michelle Rempel with the Conservatives is actually kind of calling the bluff on the Liberal governments between how they're sort of packaging things to the public and what's really going on.
00:40:26.040 Let's play that video.
00:40:29.760 So they got all these headlines on Budget Day saying that they had decreased levels.
00:40:34.600 They're still historically high.
00:40:36.120 Let me talk about that in a second.
00:40:37.320 but then when the subsequent information came out they had these sort of tricky side side routes
00:40:43.300 that actually showed an increase so they got all these yeah so they're making it look like hey
00:40:49.300 everything and the cbc of course i don't even know why are we reading from the cbc but when i was
00:40:54.340 reading from the cbc it said it was you know it's on par with schedule and she's saying they're just
00:40:58.920 sort of releasing the information in different angles so that it all looks uh to be kosher
00:41:05.820 yes well one of the things that she did also say was that um the new total number of new permanent
00:41:12.140 residents is up to six 650 000 um that's the city of winnipeg so which is which is quite substantial
00:41:21.580 and it goes back to what i was saying just before the break like where are we going to put these
00:41:25.900 people uh we already have a rampant homelessness problem as it is i mean where are these people
00:41:32.540 expected to live, Drea. And that 600,000 figure that you're seeing on the screen right now,
00:41:37.940 that's just in a year. That's not, you know, over 20 years or something like that,
00:41:43.860 that might be understandable. That is just a single year. So that is quite frightening.
00:41:52.240 Item number 15, the globe there, we have Ottawa to grant permanent residence to 200,000 temporary
00:42:00.000 residents on top of so i think that's what we're saying there and that's how we're getting close to
00:42:04.400 the the 600 000 but yeah that is an astonishing figure it's winnipeg like you're saying in a
00:42:10.720 single year we're not going to be able to handle that uh rural immigration uh pilot made permanent
00:42:18.640 despite 10.5 million so this is a article here and i think then we can close the immigration
00:42:26.320 discussion so the government's own analysis counts 60.8 million in costs against 50.3 million
00:42:33.760 in measurable benefits over 10 years and provinces warned of fraudulent employers on top of it
00:42:43.040 of course we're seeing already as a problem in canada already it's a problem it's not just
00:42:47.680 employers too if you start looking into the student things and these these colleges that 0.51
00:42:52.000 pop out of nowhere but then if you're like a canadian you can't even you can't go there you
00:42:57.360 it's horrible so immigration minister lena metleg dyab recommended the change and the
00:43:05.680 liberal cabinet approved it on october uh 22nd so the regulations were published on november 4th so
00:43:13.280 this is basically just going through all of that the government's own costing published with the
00:43:18.080 the regulations say this estimate is based on a target of 3,000 admissions per year, including
00:43:25.400 principal applicants and dependents. That's another thing. It's not just one single person,
00:43:30.700 right? It's the whole shebang going through. The biggest costs fall on the employers at about 24
00:43:38.040 million and on provincial governments at 23.4 million in provincial nominee program fees
00:43:45.120 they would no longer collect because applicants will use the federal class instead.
00:43:53.760 And there was a couple other things before we move on that I wanted to touch on in the budget.
00:43:58.820 And one of them, one of them, I think is a good thing. But there is what they they're introducing
00:44:04.340 the Canadian Creative Credit, Drea. So if you are an artist now in Canada, you can apply for a $45,000
00:44:11.980 grant. So, I mean, I'm identifying as an artist. I'm not sure what that means.
00:44:16.480 You are.
00:44:17.340 Mr. Prime Minister Carney did say, you know, if you have, if you want to tell great Canadian
00:44:21.660 stories, and I think I have a great story to tell. So, where's my 45 grand?
00:44:26.200 Yeah.
00:44:26.760 And the other thing I wanted to say, and this is the one thing that I was happy to see,
00:44:31.040 is that they are adding some additional money to the vaccine impact assistance program.
00:44:36.600 i believe it's 17.5 million dollars um you know i of course i have a huge advocate for helping our
00:44:44.080 injured and canadians and so i i was encouraged to see this i really really hope though that it's
00:44:49.440 going to make it down to the people that need it the most yeah without the struggle i remember the
00:44:54.420 one story that i covered um of a lady named fran and her mother dropped dead after taking moderna
00:45:01.960 within the 15 minute waiting period. I mean, there should have been no friction. This was 100%
00:45:07.900 from the jab. She should have got what was owed to her to help with the cost of the funeral, 0.87
00:45:13.500 et cetera. It took her, I believe, 10 months to get anything from that. And she had gone around
00:45:20.340 to media after media. She had never heard of Rebel News. And an MP said to her, she went to an MP
00:45:26.160 and the MP said, the only people who are ever going to touch the story is Rebel News. That's
00:45:30.580 how she found out about us and uh we helped give some exposure and then finally got she got some
00:45:35.720 attention for her mom dropping dead right after the jab um so yeah you're right i'm happy to see
00:45:42.660 that money's going in there but it also speaks to the fact that there is a need and even the
00:45:47.020 government can't pretend that there is no need they're not closing the file we were told it was
00:45:52.080 conspiracy conspiracy to even say that there are people getting injured from it so um so yeah
00:45:58.360 definite need there going on here so we'll switch uh lanes just a little bit before we end just a
00:46:04.360 couple of crazy things in canada of course there always is um we have um mp andrew lawton he talks
00:46:14.920 about uh a motion uh that was blocked by the liberal government and this is a long overdue
00:46:21.960 first of all i'm i'm happy to finally see this coming out of the conservatives and that was to
00:46:27.160 probe to properly investigate what the heck has been happening happening with the mass church
00:46:34.220 burnings across the country if this has been any other religion this wouldn't even be up for debate
00:46:40.700 but uh if you click here and we look here what happened well the carney liberals well they
00:46:48.200 blocked the motion to study canadian church arsons because yeah that's not important at all
00:46:54.600 All Liberals on the House of Commons Heritage, every single one, including those floor crossers, voted against a motion to investigate vandalism, arsons and other attacks on places of worship in Canada.
00:47:10.180 So, it's places of worship in general, but we know the bulk of that is the churches. Since the false 215 unmarked grave discovery claim was made, we've seen well over 130 churches be burnt or vandalized across the country. 0.98
00:47:30.380 and the liberals are saying no we don't want to probe into that um and the conservatives were
00:47:36.920 saying you know it is time so on october 29th during debate in the house of commons um conservative
00:47:43.540 mp andrew lawton made the motion to undertake a study of no fewer than eight meetings just eight
00:47:50.240 meetings that's all he's asking about like can we just have eight meetings to really figure out
00:47:53.580 what's going on here on the vandalism arson shootings let's not forget what's happening
00:47:58.500 at synagogues as well and other criminal attacks against places of worship in canada these are
00:48:04.580 communities doing great things helping out where the government isn't helping out whether it be
00:48:09.620 the poor or low-income families they're getting shot at the burnt vandalized and the liberal
00:48:16.100 government doesn't think that's an important enough cause to look into no of course and and
00:48:21.540 you know as you were just saying if it was a mosque for example or you know rampant mosque
00:48:26.420 burnings um we would all be told uh to reflect we you know it would be classified as a hate crime
00:48:34.020 and here we are because they're because they're christian churches i mean i i just i don't
00:48:38.980 understand why they wouldn't even want to study this why they you know why they don't want to get
00:48:42.580 to the bottom of why this is happening and to your point yes of course as soon as the news from
00:48:47.060 kamloops came out um they rapidly rapidly increased so it's really disappointing um that they're that
00:48:54.740 that they're not even willing to have a look at this yeah and then after october 7th that's when
00:48:59.680 we started to see the rise in attacks against the synagogues too which we've covered as well
00:49:04.120 what does this say to those canadians who are impacted in these communities more important
00:49:10.240 question what does it say to the people doing it what does it say to the people who are getting
00:49:15.600 away with this you know um our colleague alexa lavaw did a great job investigating um that that
00:49:23.320 the more recent church that was burned down oh i want to say new brunswick i believe it was in
00:49:28.400 new brunswick correct me if i'm wrong sorry anyway i think you're right i think it was
00:49:33.060 new brunswick yeah she investigated that guy was basically infiltrating in that church he was
00:49:39.740 connected to a radical group right out here in british columbia columbia basically marxists
00:49:45.580 and stuff and they're taking down this church and as it's burning he's saying oh yeah we're getting
00:49:50.440 what we want in the voice. What message does it say to people like that, psychos, who are going
00:49:55.460 and burning these communities, shooting at them, and what are they going to do next? The liberals 0.94
00:50:02.320 don't care. I guess as somebody that has been tried and convicted of mischief and currently
00:50:09.320 serving an 18-month sentence for mischief, you're asking the wrong person. I mean, make it make
00:50:17.380 sense i mean like we've talked about so many times before there's all these crimes happening
00:50:22.740 out there you know there nobody's been arrested for any of these church burnings to my knowledge
00:50:27.460 you please correct me if i'm wrong um you know and here's chris barber and i um just two regular
00:50:32.980 canadians who you know wanted to just ask our government some questions and have a conversation
00:50:37.940 and here we are locked up in our homes for 18 months uh over a mischief charge which is essentially
00:50:44.340 in any other case a slap on the wrist or a small fine or you know maybe a few months of probation
00:50:50.900 so exactly what does that say there's absolutely no deterrent here and um you know as you know we
00:50:57.700 were just recently in court to try and get a variation order to my condition so that i could
00:51:01.620 travel for for work with rebel news yeah and um you know the judge made a point of saying you
00:51:06.900 that they wouldn't they weren't going to let me do that because it wouldn't it would make my
00:51:11.140 sentence seem less denunciatory what is this what message is this sending to people that are
00:51:16.900 actually out there uh committing arson uh committing robbery um assaulting people in
00:51:22.980 broad daylight i mean there was just that lady a couple days ago or earlier this week that caught
00:51:28.020 was caught on video i believe it was in toronto that just randomly punched uh you know a passerby
00:51:34.100 so so where is the deterrent for them then right and this is the message that they're sending in
00:51:39.380 canada if you're a 54 year old uh peaceful grandmother um accused of mischief uh they're
00:51:46.260 gonna throw the book at you but if you go and burn a church down um by all means we don't we
00:51:51.220 don't want to see we don't want to know we don't want to hear oh my gosh you know i've covered a
00:51:55.940 handful like even a handful is too much to say i think i've covered about three arrests granted
00:52:02.420 it's hard to keep up with all of the situations but what i have found is most of them just remain
00:52:07.780 suspicious i don't know if the investigation it seems like it's just not a priority and that's
00:52:14.340 again what these people who are doing it are noticing uh it's a real attack i think on our
00:52:22.020 christian judeo values that have made our country strong i think it's actually an attack against
00:52:27.300 canada when you see this stuff happening um that and and nobody cares about it i think we'll end
00:52:33.860 with it's almost like ending with a cringe dare i say but this is where is that article here um
00:52:44.020 this is basically do we have that that post of how many uh how do i say this we're live we got
00:52:52.180 to be careful here but in the after the midterms how many trans identifying people um have now
00:53:01.300 become lawmakers do we have that there i'd love to talk about that a little bit it was so shocking
00:53:06.020 i shared the post and so many people were saying to me um if not you can get it on my most recent
00:53:11.940 ex post if we don't actually have the article but so many people were saying to me like drea this is
00:53:16.500 a joke right like this this isn't real and i'm like no this is absolutely real i'm putting it
00:53:23.940 in the chat and i'll read the heading here um so it's the democrats it says uh men who won as women
00:53:33.540 in the midterms can we just take a look this is quite shocking um do you have it yet there we go
00:53:42.580 there we go that's what i'm talking about here so at least eight eight that we know of um this is
00:53:49.220 got to be a record of all records this has to be a world record uh many of this this is the
00:53:54.660 situation the first time trans identifying people um who actually won and my comment was the first
00:54:03.220 thing i thought when i saw this is it took me back i won't say how many years ago but to when
00:54:08.500 i was in university and um in sociology they would talk about the glass ceiling and they they would 0.71
00:54:14.900 really drilling your head that because you're a woman, you know, society is so full of misogyny 1.00
00:54:21.120 that you're going to hit this glass ceiling. It doesn't matter how capable you are. You're going 1.00
00:54:25.060 to hit there. You're never going to be able to surpass males when you get to these roles. And
00:54:29.140 I used to look at that as a young woman and go, this is crap. I'll be able to do whatever I want 0.99
00:54:32.960 to do. That was my attitude. But then I look at this and I'm like, oh my gosh, maybe there is a
00:54:39.660 glass ceiling going on here because these are the women these are the women who are women
00:54:46.300 what do you lord help me with this tamara i i i got nothing i really got nothing i don't know
00:54:56.440 what to tell you um i mean we live in a country where the head of our public health agency can't
00:55:01.680 even define what a woman is they won't even say pregnant woman they have to say pregnant people
00:55:06.820 even in the budget you saw um uh an allotment in the budget for tampons and men's rostrums for
00:55:13.060 menstruating people or people who menstruate i mean we we are dealing with a government that
00:55:18.460 can't even say the word woman or give a give a definition of what a woman actually is i mean
00:55:23.560 yeah it's insanity our our head whoever replaced theresa tam i forget her name she can't say what
00:55:29.600 a woman is our head chief medical officer medical officer but just look at something isn't right
00:55:35.140 here okay and i'm not saying oh because they're trans i'm saying because of statistics because
00:55:39.860 in north america the average trans non or the figure of who identifies as trans or non-binary
00:55:46.660 is something like 0.33 i think it's on the rise as it's the cool thing to do um but even if it's
00:55:56.500 double how on earth do you have that many who have won what the heck is going on exactly exactly
00:56:05.140 oh my gosh I can't help you Drea I mean I can't make sense of it myself I don't know how you
00:56:10.620 explain the unexplainable well I'm sure it's coming to Canada soon so anyways well that was
00:56:17.160 a good way I think to end I think we're right on time and it was great and lovely to do the show
00:56:22.160 with you again Tamara and always a pleasure Drea a better topic do we have some chat to go through
00:56:29.920 before we end because you know me i like to i like inviting people and then pretending they
00:56:35.280 didn't say anything okay we do um this is from keith who donates seven dollars thank you so much
00:56:42.720 thank you says don't don't forget to get a poppy to show you remember everyone absolutely you can
00:56:49.600 find them in so many different places and they love to make it so it falls off so you have to
00:56:54.400 buy a few it's just just just embrace it for a great cause so please do wear your poppy for
00:57:01.460 remembrance day dominion day and um yeah thanks if i could just before we sign off um you know
00:57:08.240 i'm not a fan of gofundme but there has been a gofundme um created for ken kunkle who was the
00:57:16.560 commanding uh cadet leader of those of those children selling poppies in hamilton so i would
00:57:21.900 obviously that was a horrific horrific attack on this man his life has forever changed and
00:57:28.700 I would encourage you to search out that GoFundMe and make a donation for for Mr. Kunkel and his
00:57:35.780 family thank you so much for saying that absolutely yeah that's terrific so yes well thank you thank
00:57:44.280 you to the producers behind the screen for keeping the show going smoothly Tamara and for everybody
