00:00:00.000 Hello, my friends. I guess this is my last show before Monday, which is Referendum Day in Alberta.
00:00:05.380 Not just the big question on independence, but nine other questions, mainly about immigration.
00:00:10.960 Very interesting. Those have not had the same publicity as the independence question.
00:00:15.620 I'll take you through them and show you why they're so attractive.
00:00:18.860 And I'll talk about when was the last time you had the prime minister, the leader of the opposition,
00:00:23.500 three premiers, and basically in the entire Ottawa and Toronto establishment in Alberta at the same time.
00:00:30.000 I can't think of it.
00:00:31.900 I think the referendum has some scared.
00:00:33.560 I'll tell you why I had.
00:00:34.760 But first, let me invite you to become a subscriber to Rebel News Plus.
00:00:38.080 It's the video version of this podcast.
00:00:40.000 Just go to rebelnewsplus.com.
00:00:42.080 Click subscribe.
00:00:43.480 And it's $8 a month, which I know might not sound like a lot to you,
00:00:47.180 but it really adds up for us.
00:00:49.100 We take no money from the government, and it shows.
00:00:51.840 One more thing.
00:00:53.640 Thank you.
00:01:00.000 Tonight, Mark Carney flies to Calgary and tells Albertans to vote no to all nine of their own referendum questions.
00:01:18.800 No to showing citizenship before you vote.
00:01:20.940 No to putting citizens first for health care. 0.97
00:01:23.520 And then, that same night, he tells them the whole referendum is the work of foreigners? 0.59
00:01:28.960 It's October 16th, and this is the Ezra Levant Show.
00:01:34.460 Shame on you, you censorious who bug.
00:01:46.200 Well, Monday is the Alberta referendum, or a series of referendums, actually.
00:01:50.520 A bunch of questions.
00:01:51.960 Advance polls have been open all week.
00:01:53.640 And this week, the entire Canadian establishment descended upon Alberta, the Prime Minister, the opposition leader, three former premiers, 5,000 people at the BMO Center in Calgary last night.
00:02:07.180 I'll show you what Mark Carney said, and I'll show you the nine questions he told Albertans to vote against, because I don't think most people have even heard of them.
00:02:17.080 Carney was in Calgary yesterday, Red Deer today, with Premier Daniel Smith at his side.
00:02:22.140 Justin Trudeau would never have done that.
00:02:23.800 I'm not sure if Mark Carney would have done that were it not for the referendum.
00:02:28.200 Carney said the frustration that Albertans feel are real.
00:02:31.000 He claims he's fast-tracking an oil pipeline to the Pacific,
00:02:34.960 the first project his government ever called in the national interest.
00:02:39.480 And everyone you represent has earned that.
00:02:43.320 And I want to acknowledge that there have been times within the Federation
00:02:50.260 where that trust has been put to a test, and I recognize that.
00:02:54.860 It's been put to a test in my lifetime.
00:02:57.000 When I was growing up, Premier, well, we don't remember,
00:03:01.200 we as Albertans were made to feel that sometimes our resources weren't our own.
00:03:06.620 We were later made to feel that we were developing those resources
00:03:10.320 was against the tides of history.
00:03:12.700 Something that should have brought us together, united us,
00:03:15.200 became something that divided us.
00:03:16.980 Now, we're turning that around, but these were given to me.
00:03:23.060 They're more than a prop. They're a symbol.
00:03:27.580 The threads that linked us as a country, some of them prayed because of that.
00:03:33.240 And what we're facing on Monday is part of reflection of that.
00:03:37.300 That's a trick, of course. There is no pipeline route. There is no customer.
00:03:40.680 There's no oil companies who think it's viable.
00:03:42.440 It's extremely expensive since they have to pay a global warming surcharge for carbon.
00:03:46.300 And of course, any rogue judge can just invent a new indigenous reason to stop it. 0.50
00:03:51.020 But again, even that fake pipeline proposal is a sign that he feels he has to come across
00:03:58.660 as more reasonable than Trudeau did.
00:04:01.660 So what did he actually say when he got there?
00:04:03.960 Well, yesterday morning, he was with volunteers in Bridgeland in Calgary.
00:04:08.540 Someone held up a sign, and here's the Prime Minister of Canada.
00:04:10.960 We're making ourselves more independent.
00:04:12.960 we're making ourselves stronger as a country stronger as Albertans why so we
00:04:19.360 can live our lives as we want we can have the diversity in this province so
00:04:24.120 we take care of each other and we build together and in order to do that rah
00:04:28.420 rah rah in order to do that for the youth of this great province we need to
00:04:34.860 get people out to vote so I just wanted to come here and thank you for what
00:04:37.620 you've already done thank you what you're gonna do in the next few days
00:04:40.320 Make sure everyone's out there marking their ballots on by Monday, including Monday, including no to the nine. 0.95
00:04:48.860 No to the nine.
00:04:53.380 No to the nine.
00:04:55.340 Not to separation.
00:04:56.340 That's question 10, and I'll get to it.
00:04:58.680 No to the other nine, the questions Albertans wrote themselves through something called the Alberta Next panel through town halls across the province.
00:05:07.020 So let's read them because Carney is betting that you won't.
00:05:09.660 Question five. Should Alberta require proof of citizenship, a passport, a birth certificate, a citizenship card to vote in a provincial election?
00:05:18.620 That's it. That's the question. Show you're a citizen before you pick the government. Mark Carney says no to that.
00:05:26.540 Question two. Should only Canadian citizens, permanent residents and people with an Alberta approved immigration status be eligible for provincially funded programs, health care, education, social services?
00:05:38.180 Citizens and permanent residents first.
00:05:41.680 Carney says no.
00:05:43.960 Question three, should someone on a temporary visa have to live in Alberta for 12 months
00:05:48.880 before they qualify for provincial social supports?
00:05:52.200 And the question says it right after in the text,
00:05:55.520 citizens and permanent residents keep everything they have now.
00:05:58.760 This is only about temporary residents.
00:06:01.600 Again, no, says Carney.
00:06:04.020 Question four, should temporary residents pay a reasonable fee for their family's use of the
00:06:08.420 health and education systems? Again, citizens are exempt. Permanent residents are exempt. 0.85
00:06:14.060 Carney says no. Or even question one, should Alberta take more control over immigration
00:06:19.520 to bring it down to sustainable levels and put Albertans first for new jobs?
00:06:25.260 No. No. Now here's what's funny about that one. Here's Carney's reaction, his reason, sorry,
00:06:31.460 for voting no. He told Red FM and Global News the same thing yesterday. We've taken control
00:06:37.360 on immigration. That's his line. Think about that. If Ottawa has already taken control, 0.98
00:06:42.180 if the problem is solved, then why would you fly to Calgary to campaign against Albertans saying
00:06:47.420 they'd like some control too? Let's just be clear about where immigration is right now in this
00:06:52.520 country. We have taken back control on immigration. You see asylum seekers down by 70 percent,
00:06:58.440 temporary foreign workers down by 60 percent foreign students down by 80 percent that's over
00:07:03.640 the course of the last 18 months basically well uh i've been prime minister our government's in
00:07:07.880 place so we're focused on controlling the numbers of immigration we've increased the number of
00:07:12.200 economic migrants and we're increasing the cooperation with the provinces in terms of
00:07:16.840 those selections to be candid like i don't need a referendum to tell us to cooperate more with the
00:07:24.120 provinces on immigration. I think that's where we're headed because, let's face it, the province
00:07:29.340 is closer to the needs of the industries here, where the shortages are. And two things, though,
00:07:35.780 if I can say very quickly. So one, that's the direction we're going. We don't need that in order
00:07:39.980 to get there. I think we're going to get there irrespective, irrespective of the result. The
00:07:45.560 second thing, which is incredibly important, goes back to the first question about Alberta's role
00:07:49.800 the country and i'm sorry to do this to you but you know you are one of 30 percent of albertans
00:07:55.720 who came to alberta from another part of canada and that's one of the strengths of this country
00:08:00.600 is we get great people who come to this province for opportunity and build a province up if it's
00:08:05.240 solved question one costs you nothing say yes and move on unless it isn't solved and albertans
00:08:11.640 must not be allowed to say so out loud the other four questions are constitutional
00:08:17.160 Provinces picking their own superior court judges instead of letting Ottawa do it.
00:08:21.220 Abolishing the unelected Senate, letting a province opt out of federal programs in provincial
00:08:26.040 jurisdiction like health or education without losing the money.
00:08:29.600 That's what Quebec gets to do.
00:08:31.540 And when a province's law and a federal law collide in a shared area, the provincial law
00:08:36.720 wins.
00:08:37.560 Every one of those says in the text that Alberta would work with other willing provinces to
00:08:43.000 amend the Constitution.
00:08:44.220 I think that's how you're supposed to amend the Constitution.
00:08:46.280 that's the rule book seven provinces half the population so you have to convince them no says
00:08:52.580 mark carney says no to all of it now you might say well that that's his opinion he's a liberal of
00:08:58.240 course he's against it fine but then he went to the rally 5 000 people and he didn't talk about
00:09:03.500 the nine questions at all instead this and it matters it matters the stakes are high
00:09:13.200 the stakes are high this referendum let's be clear it comes at the worst possible time
00:09:22.960 the world has become more dangerous and divided
00:09:29.340 there are some outside our borders who are working to break us so they can own us
00:09:43.200 We know, we know, we know that we can give ourselves far more than anyone else can take away. 0.70
00:09:54.680 And we know, we know something else.
00:09:57.240 We know that when we are united, we become even stronger.
00:10:03.480 Some outside our borders are working to break us so they can own us.
00:10:09.120 Who wrote the 10 questions?
00:10:11.400 Danielle Smith's government from an Alberta panel after Alberta town halls, who gathered the
00:10:16.860 signatures for the separation question, Albertans. Actually, between those who want out and want in,
00:10:22.800 about half a million, or actually it was, I think, closer to 700,000. Albertans signed them. Who's
00:10:28.580 voting? Albertans. What has any of this have to do with foreigners? But according to Mark Carney,
00:10:34.840 without any proof, if you vote yes, you're a tool of a foreign power? Not a citizen with a grievance,
00:10:41.320 You're a dupe. You're too stupid to know what's in your own interest. And then this. 1.00
00:10:46.120 It does.
00:10:50.920 Don't. Don't let anyone tell you that this is already decided.
00:10:57.240 No. Turnout will determine the outcome.
00:11:00.800 And don't be fooled by the idea that you can send a message with your vote.
00:11:07.360 This is not poker.
00:11:08.620 A vote against Canada is a dangerous bluff that will lead to years of deep uncertainty and lost opportunities for Albertans and for Canadians.
00:11:21.080 Our country, your futures, are too precious to play games with.
00:11:30.500 This, my friends.
00:11:33.880 This is not poker. This is not a dangerous bluff.
00:11:36.780 A referendum is not a bluff. It's the most democratic thing a province can do.
00:11:41.520 Quebec held two of them, 1980 and 1995, on separation.
00:11:45.840 Ottawa didn't call those bluffs, by the way. Ottawa called them a national conversation.
00:11:50.240 And then it spent 40 years and tens of billions of dollars making sure Quebec never felt the need for a third referendum.
00:11:56.540 It's not a bluff. That's leverage.
00:11:59.560 And Quebec has been cashing it in since before I was born.
00:12:02.940 And then came my favorite moment of the night. Mark Carney got his biggest cheer.
00:12:06.780 for the pipeline for getting out from under the Americans and he turned to the
00:12:13.140 crowd and said this and together together we're unlocking our full
00:12:18.280 potential as an energy superpower including with the Pacific link pipeline
00:12:25.320 it will add it will create more than a hundred and forty thousand jobs it will
00:12:32.960 reduce, reduce our dependent on the dependence on the United States.
00:12:48.960 Oh, oh, careful.
00:12:54.960 Careful.
00:12:56.960 They might.
00:13:02.960 Reduce.
00:13:07.200 Careful, they might think that's election interference.
00:13:14.580 They're a little touchy down there.
00:13:18.660 We're not.
00:13:19.840 We're getting on with it.
00:13:21.060 We are getting on with it.
00:13:22.780 We are getting on with it.
00:13:26.480 That's a dig at the U.S. ambassador, Pete Hoekstra,
00:13:29.680 who said on Wednesday that Canadian politicians
00:13:31.580 should keep their nose out of American politics
00:13:34.300 that some of what Ottawa has been doing
00:13:35.960 before the midterms could be inferred
00:13:38.360 to be election interference
00:13:39.500 and that America will respond.
00:13:40.980 Like when Doug Ford spent $100 million
00:13:43.260 to run attack ads against Trump.
00:13:45.680 So in one speech, though,
00:13:47.140 this is quite a trick,
00:13:48.320 Mark Carney mocked the Americans
00:13:50.900 for worrying about foreign interference
00:13:53.140 in their election.
00:13:55.140 And then he told Albertans
00:13:56.220 that their own election
00:13:57.660 is full of foreign interference.
00:14:00.300 Touchy indeed. 0.85
00:14:01.580 Here's Danielle Smith's answer. She posted it within hours. 0.97
00:14:05.520 Yes to the rest. That's her slogan now.
00:14:07.980 Option one on separation, stay in Canada.
00:14:10.420 But yes to the other nine.
00:14:11.880 And she said that standing next to him today in Red Deer.
00:14:15.080 To give confidence in the judiciary.
00:14:17.660 And I hope that we're able to continue working on that.
00:14:20.380 I think there is still more to come.
00:14:22.240 You might know that there's another nine questions.
00:14:24.520 And I've given this to the Prime Minister so he can read why we're going to vote yes to the nine.
00:14:29.000 I have bad news for you, Prime Minister.
00:14:30.840 all of the premiers are interested in talking about immigration and how we might be able to
00:14:34.640 reform it. The judiciary, we've already mentioned the senate and provincial jurisdiction. The polls
00:14:40.060 say Albertans agree with her. Angus Reid tested the questions as written. 62% of yes said yes
00:14:46.200 on control over immigration. 64% said yes on citizens and permanent residents first for
00:14:51.860 services. On separation, it's about 70-30 the other way. So Carney might not win the nine.
00:14:59.660 But look at what else happened this week.
00:15:02.220 Three former premiers, Stelmack, Redford, Notley,
00:15:06.880 came out together to say no to the immigration questions.
00:15:09.860 And, of course, Jason Kenney said no to the independence questions.
00:15:12.820 Did you ever think you'd be beside each other,
00:15:14.840 working together on any kind of project?
00:15:18.440 I didn't really think about it,
00:15:19.900 but when I get a lot of grief from my friends on the right,
00:15:23.180 I say, the separatists made me work with Rachel, so I blame them.
00:15:27.120 Blame them.
00:15:27.800 Well, I plan to try to get Jason to come run with me, but, you know, in alternative, this will work.
00:15:35.260 You mean jog as opposed to run for office?
00:15:37.960 Well, it always starts with a jog.
00:15:40.800 Yeah, fat chance with that.
00:15:43.560 Pierre Paulyev gave a keynote speech in Calgary today about reclaiming confidence for Alberta.
00:15:49.160 So our real goal should not be separation.
00:15:52.280 It should be restoration.
00:15:53.520 It should not be to tear down our country, but to build it up.
00:15:56.300 It should be to build a country on the solid and the oldest foundations.
00:16:01.480 The answer, therefore, is more than ever.
00:16:04.460 We need to be more Canadian than we ever have been.
00:16:07.460 Freer than ever, stronger than ever, prouder than ever, richer and more affordable than ever.
00:16:12.680 But to do that, we must stay and fight for our country.
00:16:16.580 And that's what conservatives will do.
00:16:20.940 Kenny was on a panel debating the sovereignty vote.
00:16:23.380 The Alberta government spent $4 million on ads.
00:16:26.680 The Prime Minister cleared two days from his schedule.
00:16:29.080 Here's the thing I want you to take away from this.
00:16:30.960 Whatever you think of the questions,
00:16:32.680 when was the last time the Prime Minister of Canada
00:16:35.620 spent two days in Alberta not asking for things?
00:16:39.860 He asked for money all the time,
00:16:41.080 but not just announcing things,
00:16:43.380 but sort of begging, really, pleading?
00:16:48.160 When was the last time a pipeline to the coast
00:16:49.780 got approved in a hurry, even if it's a fake pipeline?
00:16:52.900 When was the last time the Laurentian establishment,
00:16:54.800 from the Globe and Mail, the CBC, the former premiers, the party leaders,
00:16:57.820 all dropped whatever they were doing because of what Alberta might think.
00:17:03.300 I'll tell you, I don't think I've ever seen that in my lifetime.
00:17:06.780 The prime minister, the leader of the opposition, a bunch of former premiers.
00:17:11.580 And the only reason it's happening now is because Alberta put a question on the ballot,
00:17:16.460 an independence question.
00:17:17.880 That is the whole lesson.
00:17:20.640 Mark Carney called it a dangerous bluff.
00:17:22.400 Well, I bet he thinks so, because he's worried he might have to actually listen to Alberta.
00:17:27.580 I'd call it the first time in a generation Alberta had a hand worth playing.
00:17:33.020 Quebec figured this out in 1980.
00:17:35.140 Hold the vote, lose the vote.
00:17:36.800 Get a third of the Supreme Court forever.
00:17:39.080 Get vast government grants forever.
00:17:40.780 Get cabinet seats.
00:17:41.880 Get equalization.
00:17:42.900 The special status.
00:17:43.820 Lose, but win.
00:17:46.180 Ottawa only listens to Quebec because it's afraid of Quebec.
00:17:50.660 Maybe it should be a little more afraid of Alberta.
00:17:52.180 So here's my advice to Albertans.
00:17:54.620 And it has nothing to do with how you mark question 10 on Monday.
00:17:58.440 Obviously, I'm free independence for Alberta.
00:18:00.120 What a wonderful future would have unhooked from Ottawa.
00:18:03.020 But also, vote yes to the rest.
00:18:06.640 Give Premier Smith the mandate.
00:18:08.260 Read the questions yourself.
00:18:09.480 Don't take Mark Carney's word for what they say.
00:18:11.580 And then don't let anyone, not Mark Carney, not the Toronto Public Mail, not your own
00:18:15.320 Premier, tell you that this was a one-time thing, an embarrassment, something to put
00:18:20.360 behind us.
00:18:20.880 We need more of this, not less.
00:18:23.960 Alberta has finally got Ottawa's attention for once.
00:18:27.660 What do you think it should do with it?
00:18:30.320 Stay with us for more.
00:18:40.260 Hey, I want to show you a couple of videos that some of my colleagues did.
00:18:43.560 The first is from Sheila Gunn-Reed about a victory that Rebel News had
00:18:48.240 in making a complaint to Elections Alberta.
00:18:50.880 I think it's sort of a pyrrhic victory, a half victory, but it's a victory nonetheless.
00:18:55.340 Here is a six-minute video. Take a look.
00:18:57.980 We won four days before the referendum vote elections.
00:19:01.600 Alberta has finally answered our complaint against Forever Canadian.
00:19:06.060 Have you thought about what your plan would be if things don't go your way on Monday?
00:19:10.980 Well, by all means. You know, I never anticipate electoral outcomes.
00:19:15.840 I know when polling is in your favour, that's usually actually dangerous because that breeds apathy.
00:19:20.040 And a lot of voters will say, well, you know, we have it in the bag, so I don't need to vote if there is a good football or hockey game on TV.
00:19:26.380 My message to all Albertans is don't miss this vote.
00:19:29.540 This is the most important, the most critical vote probably that we will ever participate in our lifetimes.
00:19:36.780 We got our answer.
00:19:38.220 Yesterday, Alberta's Elections Commissioner Paula Hale sent Rebel News her notice of outcome on the complaint we filed against Forever Canadian on July 24th.
00:19:47.840 She opened an investigation and she found a problem and Thomas Lukasik's campaign signed a compliance agreement.
00:19:55.940 Now, we knew about that part. We knew about the compliance agreement, but it's directly related to our complaint.
00:20:01.620 The investigation into Forever Canadian opened on August 20th after our complaint, and I'll get to the timeline in a second.
00:20:09.900 Commissioner Paula Hale reviewed multiple events.
00:20:12.860 at some of the recent ones she found a Forever Canadian speaker referring to the referendum
00:20:17.060 question on Alberta's separation. After she served Forever Canadian a notice of investigation,
00:20:23.980 as we know, the group entered into a compliance agreement. To see all of our evidence and our
00:20:28.960 sworn affidavits that brought us today's small victory and to offset our legal costs, you can
00:20:34.480 visit StopTheCheaters.com. The agreement has three terms. One, Forever Canadian has to separate
00:20:41.740 referendum advertising contributions from its other donations on its website that's going to
00:20:46.940 be hard two it has to report the cost of events where speakers promoted or opposed a referendum
00:20:51.860 question the letter names two specifically the august 23rd youtube town hall recorded at west
00:20:58.920 edmonton mall plus any similar productions and every unity bus tour event from august 20th on
00:21:05.480 three the agreement stays in force until forever canadian has met every financial and reporting
00:21:11.560 requirement for this referendum. And I should be precise here because the commissioner was.
00:21:17.620 She found that most of the events and materials she reviewed did not count as referendum advertising.
00:21:23.240 Okay. She says general unity events are not advertising. She also notes that groups on
00:21:29.000 the independent side hold information events too, and that she applied the same definition to
00:21:33.940 everyone. But the same rules for everyone is all we ever asked for. There have been days where I
00:21:41.520 have been in the same parking lot as Forever Canadian, giving out signs and talking about
00:21:48.400 the referendum, and yet only one of us had to register as a third-party advertiser.
00:21:54.200 The bus tour counts. The West Edmonton Mall Town Hall counts. And this is a campaign that reported,
00:22:01.780 wait for it zero dollars in contributions for 15 straight weeks for a highly organized
00:22:09.000 cross alberta tour with two campaign head offices now look at the dates here because i'm claiming a
00:22:15.720 victory lap the compliance agreement is dated september 29th rebel news the complainant got
00:22:22.200 notice of the agreement on october 15th that's four days before the vote in the middle of the
00:22:29.960 advanced polls. That's why we went to court. We wanted to know one thing. Had Elections Alberta
00:22:35.640 opened an investigation into our complaint? For two months, they wouldn't say. They told the court
00:22:42.180 nothing was urgent. Their lawyers called our case hopeless. There was an investigation. It had been
00:22:48.340 open since August 20th the whole time, thanks to our complaint in July. And now they've told us
00:22:56.520 about it. The commissioner's letter says in black and white that it is the notice required under
00:23:02.940 section 44.975 of the act and that's what we asked the court for and now we've got it. Our lawyers at
00:23:12.500 Williamson Law expect we can close the court case on a without cost basis and count it as a win
00:23:18.440 but that still means all these legal proceedings cost us at Rebel News but I guess that's the cost
00:23:24.860 of ensuring fairness in a referendum. Our lawyers are confirming that with Elections Alberta's
00:23:30.360 lawyers this week. And there's one more thing. Elections Alberta posts its compliance agreements
00:23:35.960 online. Just look at this year's list. Of every group registered to advertise in this referendum,
00:23:44.040 including my own at Alberta's Choice, only one is under a compliance agreement. Only one so far
00:23:51.300 has been deemed a rule breaker. It's Forever Canadian, the largest federalist campaign.
00:23:57.980 Elections Alberta files it under the heading Contravention Summary. So here's my question.
00:24:03.980 If a complaint about a referendum campaign can't be answered until people are already voting,
00:24:09.480 when is it supposed to matter? None of this happened on its own though. You did this.
00:24:14.840 Elections Alberta didn't volunteer this. Forever Canadian certainly didn't volunteer it either.
00:24:19.820 They were happy to break the rules all along, but viewers like you paid for these great lawyers who made Elections Alberta answer.
00:24:28.320 So thank you.
00:24:29.440 And don't take my word for any of this.
00:24:32.080 Our court filing and the letter from Elections Alberta is posted at StopTheCheaters.com.
00:24:39.720 So is our compendium, more than 200 pages of evidence, and nearly 300 pages of sworn affidavits, and you can read it all.
00:24:47.220 And then on Monday, vote.
00:24:49.820 For Rebel News, I'm Sheila Gunn-Reed.
00:24:54.240 Well, there you have it.
00:24:55.800 Forever Canadian is under an investigation and a compliance agreement with Elections Alberta
00:25:01.140 for breaking referendum campaign rules.
00:25:04.460 And it's all thanks to you and your donations at StopTheCheaters.com.
00:25:09.520 But the legal bills, they're still rolling in.
00:25:11.680 If you'd like to help and read all the documents and evidence you helped us with,
00:25:17.380 go to StopTheCheaters.com.
00:25:19.820 I got to show you one more video. It's from my colleague David Menzies. There was this pro-Hamas march in Toronto that really happens every day, doesn't it? But some crazy person who I think was with the pro-Hamas side just jumped on an anti-Hamas guy and beat the daylights out of him and nothing happened. In fact, the rest of the Palestinian mob tried to protect this assaulter. Well, police actually made arrest and David talked to the victim. Here, take a look.
00:25:49.820 The kneecap was split in half.
00:25:57.460 A disturbing new chapter last Saturday
00:25:59.860 to those pro-Hamas demonstrations,
00:26:02.560 a brutal assault in broad daylight.
00:26:06.080 You're not going to believe this story, folks.
00:26:10.260 David Menzies for Rebel News here in downtown Toronto.
00:26:14.120 And folks, I'm at the corner of Yonge Street and Grosvenor,
00:26:18.520 Literally, the scene of the crime.
00:26:22.080 And what do I mean by that?
00:26:23.420 Well, last Saturday afternoon, Kyle Boissel was covering the shenanigans of a pro-Hamas demonstration.
00:26:33.020 And things got extremely violent, at least when it came to Kyle's well-being.
00:26:38.840 Before we get into the nitty-gritty, why don't we throw to some disturbing video of what happened that afternoon?
00:26:48.520 What do you mean?
00:26:49.520 I don't know.
00:26:50.520 I don't know.
00:26:51.520 You just put the right now.
00:26:52.520 You got the right now.
00:26:55.520 Do something about that .
00:26:58.520 Oh! 0.86
00:26:59.520 Oh! 0.98
00:27:00.520 Oh!
00:27:01.520 Yeah!
00:27:02.520 You got it.
00:27:04.520 Yeah!
00:27:05.520 Yeah! 0.71
00:27:06.520 Yeah! 0.71
00:27:07.520 Yeah!
00:27:08.520 Stop it. 0.99
00:27:09.520 Stop it. 1.00
00:27:10.520 Stop it! 1.00
00:27:11.520 Stop it! 1.00
00:27:12.520 Stop it. 1.00
00:27:13.520 Stop it. 1.00
00:27:14.520 Stop it. 1.00
00:27:15.520 Stop it. 1.00
00:27:16.520 Stop it.
00:27:17.520 Oh my God, stop, stop, stop.
00:27:19.520 Stop, stop, stop, stop.
00:27:21.520 Stop, stop, stop.
00:27:23.520 Stop, stop, stop, stop.
00:27:25.520 Stop, stop, stop, stop.
00:27:27.520 I know, I know, I know.
00:27:29.520 My knees broke. 1.00
00:27:31.520 Fuck you! 1.00
00:27:33.520 You're trying to pick fights with people? 1.00
00:27:35.520 You're trying to pick fights with people? 1.00
00:27:37.520 You're trying to pick fights with motherfucking people? 1.00
00:27:39.520 Get out of here. 1.00
00:27:41.520 Where are the guys?
00:27:43.520 My leg's broken.
00:27:45.520 Don't you have a lawsuit happening? 1.00
00:27:47.140 You're a loser. 1.00
00:27:48.140 Let's go. 1.00
00:27:52.540 Let's see it all, bud.
00:27:54.000 Let's see it all. 1.00
00:27:55.180 F***ing teenagers are... 0.99
00:27:56.280 How's your f***ing going, Jack? 1.00
00:27:58.000 F***ing teenagers are... 0.99
00:28:00.240 Where's that kid? 1.00
00:28:02.600 Look at...
00:28:03.160 Hello.
00:28:03.960 Hello.
00:28:04.720 Where's the guys?
00:28:06.080 They're coming.
00:28:07.100 That was despicable.
00:28:08.680 That was disturbing.
00:28:10.140 Carl, first of all, thank you so much for making time for me.
00:28:13.700 I know you're scheduled for surgery tomorrow I know you're in some pain with what happened to
00:28:20.080 your knee what were you doing there and what provoked that man to attack you so viciously
00:28:28.380 it's really been different stages and there is like a real need for people I've talked to all
00:28:33.460 of us have realized that we need to sort of have a buddy system going and that's why I was there
00:28:38.120 to be a part of the buddy system to keep an eye out on these guys I wasn't particularly filming
00:28:42.620 that day but i was engaging one of the regular troublemakers at these free palestine marches
00:28:48.060 whose face is always obscured so we don't know his identity at all but he's always involved in
00:28:52.860 all of the fight the flame ups that happen at all these rallies have you ever engaged with this
00:28:58.380 individual before i know you weren't talking to him you were in discourse with another demonstrator
00:29:04.460 is there any back history with this individual in yourself nothing whatsoever i can only assume
00:29:10.620 because he screamed something at me,
00:29:12.960 like the hate and the violence
00:29:15.600 with which this young man was going at it,
00:29:19.300 really just said he was really hateful of me.
00:29:22.600 And I just assumed it was like what some of the comments say
00:29:25.440 because they see me and they say, oh, he's a zio, 1.00
00:29:28.280 or he deserved it. 0.65
00:29:29.400 So we forget there's a layer of people
00:29:30.740 that are truly despicable, and when they see pain
00:29:33.340 and suffering, they revel in it, right?
00:29:35.540 Have you had it up to here with what you've seen
00:29:38.380 in the streets of our once great dominion,
00:29:40.380 these past three years. And you can send a message by going to our petition, DeportHamas.com. 0.75
00:29:47.560 DeportHamas.com. If you're going to act like a hooligan as a guest in our country, 0.65
00:29:54.820 we don't want you. And folks, I'm with Mitch. She was the camera woman on that Saturday.
00:30:01.660 You caught everything from a ringside seat, if you will, Mitch. When you were viewing what
00:30:07.440 happened to kyle what were you thinking i was thinking that i was shocked actually about this
00:30:13.920 brutal assault unprovoked by the way i was just happened to be in the right moment as i document
00:30:20.720 protests around the gta i was just documenting the march i was seeing kyle talk to one of the
00:30:26.400 demonstrators and then all of a sudden he just started run run up to him and started whamming
00:30:32.480 on him, pulling him to the ground, fighting.
00:30:34.240 And then everybody came trying to separate them
00:30:37.240 and then mocking him and everything.
00:30:40.240 On Sunday, this fellow turned himself into police.
00:30:45.020 He is now, of course, out on bail.
00:30:46.940 You told me before we went on camera
00:30:48.880 you were dealing with the detective with the hate crimes
00:30:52.020 unit.
00:30:52.520 The hate crime unit was excellent.
00:30:55.820 The ambulance guys were excellent, the hospital.
00:30:57.920 So everyone's been excellent so far.
00:31:00.080 Your knee, I understand, that's
00:31:01.840 what you're going into hospital for for surgery what happened to your knee well the knee actually
00:31:07.980 the kneecap was split in half horizontally so it was like a log being split by an axe it was just
00:31:16.320 the right spot the right angle of these bricks that hit my kneecap and split it in two was it
00:31:21.380 just an awkward way you fell then Kyle well it was because I was we were being pulled down it
00:31:26.200 was because of that attack you could see in the video that he was prepared to haul me down to
00:31:31.740 ground and continue throwing punches were there any police officers on scene when this happened
00:31:37.820 there was no police officers on scene when this happened um they're at the back of the march where
00:31:42.860 the counter protesters were because the counter protesters were behind the police and there are
00:31:47.740 probably some police at the front but none i asked the police vehicle that was riding by
00:31:52.700 for some help but they just kept on going so i had to keep so i kept so i pulled over some
00:31:57.900 some bike cops coming over, and they came over and helped.
00:32:00.400 My youth broke.
00:32:02.100 You're trying to big fights with people?
00:32:04.600 You're trying to big fights with people?
00:32:06.100 You're trying to big fights with people? 1.00
00:32:08.100 Bitch, get me out of here. 1.00
00:32:09.600 Where are the guys? 1.00
00:32:10.600 You deserve it.
00:32:12.100 You deserve it.
00:32:13.800 Not a lot of empathy.
00:32:15.400 People were mocking you.
00:32:16.900 They were throwing insults at you.
00:32:19.900 They were giving you the finger.
00:32:21.500 To me, this speaks volumes that they don't condemn
00:32:26.600 this kind of ultra violent behavior but actually implicitly condone it i agree why would you want
00:32:34.760 to have packs of people roaming around your city that if somebody has fallen down that they don't
00:32:42.200 like that they they'll kick them in the head when they're down that that happened as well so i mean
00:32:47.000 you have to like wonder is this a machine for criminals is this a magnet for criminals either
00:32:53.960 way. It's really not something that we should be tolerating anymore. It has nothing in common with
00:32:59.500 any of the protests that have occurred up to this point. I've been covering protests since October
00:33:04.680 7th and it's just been getting worse and worse with police not doing anything and people getting
00:33:10.220 attacked, assaulted just for filming on the street by these demonstrators. But something needs to
00:33:16.020 happen. We can't allow this to continue. What we have seen in the streets of this city, people
00:33:22.540 chanting genocide, people displaying swastikas, people dressing up as terrorists and brandishing 1.00
00:33:31.160 fake hand grenades, at least I hope they're fake, marching into Jewish neighborhoods saying the most 0.99
00:33:37.620 vile repugnant things. And from the political class, from the police, too often I would argue 0.92
00:33:45.800 they just held their nose and turned a blind eye. In fact, the police are infamous for
00:33:52.220 delivering timbits and coffee to these people on one particularly cold January day. I guess in the
00:33:59.160 Department of Plenty a blame to go around. Does some of this fall on our politicians and police
00:34:05.240 for just not enacting the law? I suppose in the end you see that the media influences the public
00:34:11.760 so the public is just being lazy and they're not saying anything. They're just sitting there waiting
00:34:17.160 for something to happen.
00:34:18.860 So then that begs the question, what
00:34:21.600 is it really going to take to happen in your country that
00:34:24.760 is really going to move the benchmark until this is over, 1.00
00:34:29.400 until people that have been living in this country
00:34:31.160 for quite some time aren't being persecuted
00:34:32.960 in their own living rooms?
00:34:34.360 You know what I mean?
00:34:34.960 It's just not Canada.
00:34:36.820 That's not my country anymore.
00:34:38.600 GRANT HARDY- Given the inherent danger,
00:34:40.520 what brings you out to chronicle these events?
00:34:44.060 I've come out here because I don't see any of this happening on mainstream media.
00:34:48.860 None of mainstream media is showing what I'm showing on social media.
00:34:53.420 They didn't, they weren't, the only people that they interviewed on Saturday, CBC,
00:34:58.680 only interviewed the protesters, the Hamas protesters, and none of the counter protesters.
00:35:05.340 Has he become indoctrinated? 0.66
00:35:07.420 We see in universities this unholy alliance, I would call it, between the Islamists and the Marxists. 0.95
00:35:14.600 I'd sure like to know what category he falls into. 0.71
00:35:17.400 It's a bit of a few things, but he, if you watch, to me, it looks like he's pretty calm, cool, and calculated,
00:35:24.480 sort of stalking me from behind, so there's nothing erratic about his behavior, and he just launches.
00:35:30.260 He practically leaps off the ground and starts striking me from the back of the head,
00:35:35.020 in front of a whole bunch of people in daylight with cameras everywhere.
00:35:39.600 I just don't understand.
00:35:40.560 That's like a kamikaze type of a move, right?
00:35:43.040 It's really sad that we can't have any civil discussions anymore
00:35:47.080 without being assaulted.
00:35:48.860 They say this is peaceful.
00:35:50.420 It's not been peaceful.
00:35:51.580 It's been really insults against the Jewish community,
00:35:55.040 insults against the Iranian community.
00:35:57.440 What do you think the appropriate penalty would be for this individual? 0.96
00:36:01.140 Well, he certainly needs psychological evaluation.
00:36:06.420 I wouldn't say that he needs to be somebody that should be all doped up on pills or anything like that and locked into it.
00:36:13.040 But he needs to be re-educated.
00:36:15.200 So, I mean, he needs to go through a process.
00:36:18.360 The criminal system will be a part of that process.
00:36:21.080 A good slap on the wrist, whatever ends up happening.
00:36:23.640 Would you like to see him in prison for a certain amount of time?
00:36:25.960 You know, I don't have any, I think what I believe is that because the kid was either, like you said, he was either brainwashed, inspired, or conspired with some of these people and they said, yeah, go get that guy over there.
00:36:41.620 Then that's a different matter because either one of those answers is really a bad thing for this particular group.
00:36:47.720 Well, Carl, what can I say? Another shocking chapter in our streets, something we've witnessed virtually every weekend since October 7th, 2023.
00:36:58.760 I know you're going in for surgery tomorrow. I wish you the very best. Last word goes to you.
00:37:05.800 Well, I would say that there's been many things happening, but the evidence is clear on this one here.
00:37:14.120 There's nothing. It's right there. This could happen to anybody and eventually all things must
00:37:19.680 stop. So hopefully this incident combined with all of the other ones starts to have people really
00:37:26.780 care and say something and show up and let's make all the people that represent us that you pay for
00:37:33.800 do something about it instead of sitting on their hands. Kyle, good luck in the hospital tomorrow.
00:37:40.160 You didn't deserve that. Nobody deserves that.
00:37:43.820 Maybe you have a difference of opinion with the guy that was throwing those haymakers.
00:37:49.080 But a difference of opinion, traditionally, has never given anyone the right to take the law into their own hands
00:37:56.360 and deliver a beating to somebody that they just apparently disagree with.
