00:03:02.740 don't really, because I want my house to be cool in the summer and warm in the winter. A heat pump

00:03:07.820 isn't a furnace, and it's not really an air conditioner, sort of, a little bit. I mean,

00:03:13.000 I guess it's a bit of each, but it only works a little bit of each. Let me show you what a heat

00:03:17.860 pump is. It's, in my view, a political tool. Most of the people talking about it are talking about

00:03:22.860 it as some political enterprise, as a global warming propaganda device, something you have

00:03:28.400 to buy to prove how worthy you are, but it's so expensive. It's a subsidized appliance that

00:03:35.320 almost no one would buy on their own because it makes no economic sense and it doesn't work in

00:03:41.020 Canada where it gets bloody cold in the winter. It doesn't keep things warm enough or frankly

00:03:46.060 cold enough in the summer. So it needs huge subsidies to get anyone to buy these things.

00:04:28.760 you can install at home. How does it work? Here let me show you. Your typical air source heat pump

00:04:35.960 like this mini split system has two main components an indoor and an outdoor unit which

00:04:41.880 are connected by a refrigerant line. To heat your home in the winter the outdoor unit pulls heat

00:04:47.880 from the air outside your home. Yes believe it or not even when it's cold outside air still contains

00:16:09.960 European Union have to sweat it out in the heat wave. Well, let me read the story because that's

00:16:15.280 actually the opposite of what happened. The European Commission's headquarters was forced

00:16:20.320 to shut down its air conditioning system on Friday due to the heat wave. Staff working at

00:16:25.760 the Berlimont building received a text at midday reading, urgent, due to extreme weather conditions,

00:16:31.540 forced shutdown of air cooling system from floor one to seven for the rest of the day.

00:19:06.020 Now, those of you in Canada and not in Ontario might say, well, what's this got to do with me?

00:19:11.060 Well, it's bad in every province, but let's focus in on this story.

00:19:17.000 Canadian provincial politicians took substantially bigger salaries than American state reps in 2025,

00:19:35.820 canadian provincial politician made nearly three times the salary of the median american state rep

00:20:35.760 Ezra, that the median provincial politician's salary is about 113,000 here in Canada.

00:20:41.560 it's at $45,000 in the United States as of 2025. So when Canadians see these figures,

00:20:49.440 they have to really be asking themselves whether we're getting more than double the value from our

00:20:55.160 provincial politicians than Americans are getting from their state reps. And I'd say the answer is

00:21:00.960 unequivocally no, because the vast majority of Ontario's provinces are poorer than the vast

00:21:09.420 majority of american states so if the argument from politicians that paying them more will help

00:21:15.240 deliver better results for taxpayers because more competent people are going to get into politics

00:21:20.780 that argument really doesn't hold up to the data at all yeah and let's be honest a lot of these

00:21:26.040 folks would not be particularly successful in the private sector it's it's their influence peddling

00:23:51.760 details some of these mpps that's what member of the provincial parliament that's what they call

00:23:57.240 their legislature in ontario they um they were staying in luxury hotels even though their home

00:24:05.000 or office i mean even though they were just like a few miles away god knows what they were doing

00:24:10.540 there give me some of the facts on these latest expense scandals yeah so it's pretty crazy ezra

00:24:16.740 It all started when it was revealed that former tourism minister Stan Cho had billed taxpayers for $16,000 worth of hotel expenses in Toronto, despite the fact that he lives in Toronto, about a 20 to 30 minute drive away from Queen's Park.

00:24:34.760 So it really begs the question, why is he billing taxpayers for these hotel expenses?

00:24:40.580 It's not like he needs to book a hotel in Toronto because he lives just like halfway across the province.
