Rebel News Podcast - Out of any 10 hate crime reports — are nine of them hoaxes？

00:00:00.000 Hello, Rebels. Did you know it's our fourth birthday today? I think you did.

00:00:04.140 I have an interesting conversation on the show today, and the main substance of the show was

00:00:12.160 an American actor in Chicago who claimed he was attacked in an anti-black, anti-gay lynching

00:00:21.500 in Chicago at 2 a.m. outside a subway by someone who tried to put a rope around his neck and

00:00:26.720 bleach him, and wouldn't you know, that extremely reasonable-sounding story was proved to be

00:00:32.600 a hoax, and the two guys arrested were his buddies who, like him, were black. I tell 0.90

00:00:38.400 you, a white supremacist these days. Anyways, tune in if you like listening to this podcast, 0.84

00:00:44.160 which is free. I think you would like watching it. I show you a lot of things, especially

00:00:48.120 a story like this. I think it's just better on video. In order to watch on video, you've

00:00:54.080 got to be a premium subscriber, and that's what we call our long-form TV shows. You get

00:00:59.000 access to my show, Sheila Gunn-Reed's show, David Menzies' show, and it's eight bucks a

00:01:24.820 called Jussie Smollett.

00:01:27.960 Tonight, out of any 10 hate crime reports, are nine of them hoaxes? It's February 15th,

00:01:33.300 and this is The Ezra LeVant Show.

00:01:34.940 Let me tell you about a spectacular hate crime. It's just incredible. And it happened in one

00:02:01.080 of the great black cities of the United States of America, Chicago. Chicago, home of Barack

00:02:07.740 Obama. Chicago, home of Oprah Winfrey. Chicago, city that voted 83.7% for Hillary Clinton in

00:02:16.460 2016, and even higher for Barack Obama in 2012 and 2008. Well, my friends, you may think that

00:02:24.500 Chicago is a liberal city, a city that has had black mayors, black senators, black billionaires. 0.95

00:02:32.400 But you're dead wrong. Chicago, you see, is like something out of Mississippi burning, 0.97

00:02:39.640 the 50s and 60s. Let me tell you this chilling story. Just a word before you see this. This is a

00:02:47.340 TV actor named Jussie Smollett, who appears in a TV show about rap music called Empire. He is a gay 1.00

00:02:55.560 black entertainer who plays a gay black entertainer. I mention that because that is the center of the 0.98

00:03:01.920 story here. So watch this. Watch and listen to what the actor says happened to him on the streets of

00:03:11.560 Chicago. Now, you're going to hear some words bleeped out. That includes the N word. And you'll hear

00:03:18.460 Smollett quickly say MAGA. That stands for Make America Great Again. It's Donald Trump's slogan.

00:03:25.500 Okay, so watch Jussie Smollett. When I landed in Chicago, and Frank Gatson, who's like my uncle,

00:03:32.280 and he's also my creative director, and he picked me up. And then we got back to the apartment.

00:03:37.240 There was no food. And so I went out to Walgreens thinking that they were 24 hours and to have a

00:03:44.920 smoke. Walgreens was closed. So I called him up and I said, hey, I'm going to run to Subway,

00:03:51.740 which was across the street. And I'm gonna get a salad. Do you want anything? I went to the Subway

00:03:55.620 and got the order. During that time, I texted my manager thinking that he was still in Australia

00:04:01.800 because he was on an Australian tour with one of his other clients. And I said, yo, call me when you can.

00:04:06.700 And he called me immediately. And while he was on the phone, I heard, as I was crossing

00:04:13.140 the intersection, I heard, Empire. And I don't answer to Empire. My name ain't Empire.

00:04:22.160 And I didn't answer. I kept walking. And then I heard, Empire. So I turned around and I said,

00:04:28.500 what the did you just say to me? And I see the attacker masked. And he said, this MAGA country

00:04:40.140 punches me right in the face. So I punched his ass back. And then we started tussling. You know, 1.00

00:04:46.600 it was very icy. And we ended up tussling by the stairs, fighting, fighting, fighting. There was a

00:04:53.980 second person involved who was kicking me in my back. And then it just stopped. And they ran off.

00:05:06.040 And I saw where they ran. And the phone was in my pocket, but it had fallen out. And it was sitting

00:05:10.700 there. And my manager was still on the phone. So I picked up the phone and I said, Brandon,

00:05:15.880 and he's like, what's going on? And I said, I was just jumped. And then I looked down and I see

00:05:21.180 that there's a rope around my neck.

00:05:22.300 Wow. So a black man in Chicago goes out for Subway sandwiches at 2 a.m. And a couple of white guys 0.94

00:05:32.060 spot him just on the street because white guys love watching Empire show about black rappers.

00:05:40.280 And so they spot him on the street at 2 a.m. and they identify him immediately. And they shout

00:05:45.100 Empire at him, as you would imagine they would. And they call him the N-word. And I think they

00:05:51.980 called him an anti-gay swear. And they try and beat him up. And they put a rope around his neck 0.97

00:05:58.320 and they shout, this is MAGA country in Chicago, a city that's 83 percent Democrat. Let me just

00:06:05.460 play a little bit more about what Smollett says happened. Watch this. During that time before

00:06:10.360 they came, it took them about maybe a half hour to come. And during that time, I was looking at

00:06:15.680 myself, just like checking myself out. I saw the bruise on my neck, you know, like the little,

00:06:19.900 um, the rope burn around my neck. And then I, but I smelled bleach. I know the smell of bleach.

00:06:26.240 And I saw on my sweatshirt, it had marks on it, like spots on it when you have a bad bleach

00:06:31.580 job. So then I was like, there's bleach on me too. So when the police came, um, I kept the clothes on.

00:06:40.080 I kept the rope. So you had the rope on the entire time. I mean, it wasn't like wrapped around, but

00:06:46.600 yeah, it was around because I wanted them to see, I wanted them to see what this was. I told them

00:06:51.520 what happened, everything. I also asked them to turn their body cams off because they were trying

00:06:55.320 to stay in the hallway. And I was like, please just come in. Like, I don't want a big scene.

00:06:59.020 So these two white guys who spotted them and they knew them from empire, because I mean, who,

00:07:07.740 who doesn't? And they, they immediately, and they, and they shouted, there's MAGA country. And they,

00:07:13.660 and they beat them up and they, and they attacked him with bleach and a rope. 0.84

00:07:19.500 Because I hear that's the thing, marauding white guys, just patrolling in Chicago, carrying around 0.97

00:07:27.840 ropes and bottles of bleach at two, at 2am when it's so cold outside, it's biting. Apparently these

00:07:37.740 are these traveling lynch mobs. That's what a rope around the neck is. I don't know what, were they

00:07:45.020 going to try and hang him and then bleach him? And they bleached his clothes a bit, but not his

00:07:53.060 skin apparently. And I guess they did that while they were punching him and while they were putting

00:07:59.260 a rope around his neck and it all happened in 30 seconds or something. Oh, and by the way, no one

00:08:04.760 saw this, no one in Subway's restaurant, no one on the street. And that detail there, did you catch

00:08:11.980 that part? When police arrived, he asked them to turn off their body cameras. You know, you know,

00:08:18.480 cops these days, they wear a little GoPro. That's weird, isn't it? I've spoken to police with,

00:08:23.480 with body cameras on it just once actually. I remember I was pulled over the road and the cop

00:08:27.700 came over. He's really polite. He just started off by introducing himself and telling me that he's

00:08:31.560 recording things. And it immediately had two salutary effects on me. First of all, if I had any plan to

00:08:39.180 be a smart ass, which I didn't, I swear, it would have immediately convinced me not to be, because

00:08:44.720 who knows who would see the video of my conduct, not just the police, but theoretically the courts, 0.98

00:08:51.660 the judge, the public, my family, whatever. So now I was just pulled over for a minor traffic

00:08:56.400 infraction for which I was apologetic. But I can imagine that having that camera on and being told

00:09:01.560 that the camera is probably enough to convince a lot of troublemakers, a lot of scammers, don't even

00:09:06.360 try. And don't even try to lie about what you did. Don't even try to lie about what the cops are

00:09:11.960 going to do. So it put me on my best behavior. Not that it was going to be bad. I just want to let

00:09:16.240 you know. So I was on my best behavior. And you know what? I bet it puts the cop on their best

00:09:20.820 behavior to do things by the book. And again, they probably would anyways, but who knows? Maybe the

00:09:27.380 video would be reviewed by someone, a superior officer, even a judge, even internal affairs. So I am a huge

00:09:33.880 fan of those body cameras for cops from everyone's point of view. Safety for the suspect, safety for

00:09:40.680 the cop, and just plain getting the truth out. Who could be against that? Well, this guy was

00:09:48.520 for some weird reason. Why would you tell the cops to turn off their body camera when you're the ones

00:09:57.040 who called them over, by the way? He called the cops and they came over. Okay, I understand what

00:10:03.500 he said about not wanting to have a fuss with the neighbors around, but how does a silent body camera

00:10:08.500 being on or off create a fuss? And if you don't want to fuss, how come you were wearing a rope

00:10:16.880 around your neck for 30 minutes while you were waiting the cops to come? And, um, you just went on

00:10:24.340 national news. If Jesse Smollett, Jesse's, if Jesse Smollett wanted this to be private, why did he and his

00:10:32.880 publicist and his entire PR team go nuts with this story, shopping it around, promoting it like, oh, I don't

00:10:38.880 know, like his character in the show Empire, a young hustler trying to make a name for himself. Look at that

00:10:44.920 story in TMZ. Put it back up again. You know, TMZ, it's a celebrity website and a TV show based in

00:10:49.940 Hollywood. They're great. They're, they're gossips, but they went full tilt on this. They were literally

00:10:55.900 giving hour by hour updates on the case, interviewing all of Jesse Smollett's people. Well, enough said,

00:11:05.240 I mean, I think it was the Trump part, the MAGA, make America great again part. I mean, black man,

00:11:11.620 gay man, gay black man, lynching a rope, MAGA. It's just too perfect. Just too good. Just too good 1.00

00:11:19.740 to fact check. Just too good to even gut check. Are there really gangs of white guys roaming around 0.77

00:11:29.160 Chicago in minus 20 weather at 2 a.m. with bottles of bleach and nooses just on the chance they're going

00:11:37.160 to bump into some C-list celebrity from Empire. Everyone's talking about Empire. And they'd

00:11:42.120 recognize this fairly obscure actor from a TV show in the dark. He's just rushing into a subway and

00:11:48.600 they'd shout, this is MAGA country in Chicago. Has anyone ever said that? Has Donald Trump, who is not

00:11:57.720 known for his modesty? He, he would never say that. Chicago is Trump town. No, no, no.

00:12:08.480 But it wasn't news. It was politics. Take a look, see. Here's Kamala Harris, who's running for president. 1.00

00:12:16.460 Jesse Smollett is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I'm praying for his quick

00:12:20.820 recovery. And Kamala, good news. It looks like he's fully recovered. This was an attempted modern day

00:12:26.760 lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their

00:12:30.520 skin. We must confront this hate. Here's Senator Cory Booker, who I think is running for president. I'm

00:12:37.800 not quite sure. He says, this vicious attack on actor Jesse Smollett was an attempted modern day

00:12:43.560 lynching. I'm glad he's safe. To those in Congress who don't feel the urgency to pass our anti-lynching

00:12:49.520 bill designating lynching as a federal hate crime, I urge you to pay attention. Just FYI, lynching someone is a

00:12:55.300 crime. Just like stabbing someone or poisoning someone or, I don't know, running someone. It's

00:12:59.740 a crime. Here's Joe Biden, Obama's former vice president, might be running for president himself.

00:13:05.980 He said, what happened today to Jesse Smollett must never be tolerated in this country. We must stand up

00:13:11.700 and demand that we no longer give this hate safe harbor, that homophobia and racism have no place

00:13:16.460 on our streets or in our hearts. We are with you, Jesse. Here's Bernie Sanders. The racist and homophobic

00:13:22.980 attack on Jesse Smollett is a horrifying instance of the surging hostility towards minorities around

00:13:27.400 this country. We must come together to eradicate all forms of bigotry and violence. Here's a new

00:13:32.200 Palestinian-American congressman, Rashida Tlaib. When one of the most famous black and gay men in

00:13:37.780 America is not safe, the message is clearer than it ever has been. The dangerous lie spewing from the 0.98

00:13:42.680 right wing is killing and hurting our people. Thinking of you, Jesse Smollett, and my LGBTQ neighbors.

00:13:48.100 And of course, the queen, the princess, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the new congresswoman from the

00:13:56.420 Bronx, weighs in. She says, there is no such thing as racially charged. This attack was not

00:14:00.660 possibly homophobic. It was a racist and homophobic attack. If you don't like what is

00:14:05.420 happening to our country, then work to change it. It is no one's job to water down a sugarcoat the rise

00:14:09.760 of hate crimes. Now look, every one of those are Democratic politicians. So you might say, look,

00:14:15.020 they're just campaigning. But they were all running with what the Democratic journalists

00:14:19.020 had written. That's why I call it a media party. They're really an auxiliary of the Democrats,

00:14:23.240 an auxiliary of the liberals up here. That's why I call it a political media industrial complex.

00:14:27.100 The Democrats in the media prepare the battlefield. And then the Democrats in politics go to war.

00:14:32.680 And the narrative is deepened. America is in a racial and anti-gay crisis because of Trump,

00:14:37.840 who hates blacks and hates gays and wants to lynch them. Those tweets alone, cumulatively, 1.00

00:14:42.840 had hundreds of thousands of retweets, millions of views.

00:14:47.560 At 2 a.m., outside Subway Sandwiches in Chicago, a.k.a. MAGA Town. Really? Really? Really?

00:14:56.460 Now, police seem to be a bit skeptical. I mean, the guy says, thank God you got here. Hey,

00:15:03.680 can you turn off your cameras while I tell you what happened? It's probably a bit of a tip-off.

00:15:07.700 I wonder if the police complied. I mean, when I was pulled over for a minor traffic infraction,

00:15:15.000 if I said, turn off your camera, do you think the cop would have answered, would have done what I told

00:15:19.020 him to do? I'd like to know if the cops actually did. Maybe they pretended they did. Maybe they

00:15:24.020 went, beep, beep, okay, it's off. I wonder if they did that. Beep, boop.

00:15:28.860 Now, the cops scoured the neighborhood. Chicago is a high crime city. Surveillance footage

00:15:36.700 everywhere, including the Subway Sandwiches, of course. But they found nothing. It doesn't

00:15:44.280 make sense. The closest thing they could find was this picture of two people. Do you see

00:15:52.600 the two people on the sidewalk there? You have two shots of it. On the left-hand side, it's

00:15:56.840 near the bottom. On the right-hand side, it's the middle. You see those two dark shapes. Those

00:16:00.200 are people. So you can see the surveillance. So it's pretty grainy. You can't tell what race they

00:16:04.900 are. You can't really tell anything about it other than there's two people. You have no clue.

00:16:09.180 But you can see just a little, you can't see a rope or bleach. You really can't see anything.

00:16:16.840 That's all they could find. They looked over everything everywhere. Oh, but there was something

00:16:22.480 caught on camera. Here, let me read to you a tweet by Rafer Weigel. I don't know him, but

00:16:27.480 according to his biography, he's an Emmy award-winning anchor, reporter at Fox 32 Chicago.

00:16:34.200 And you see his motto there? He says, journalism is printing what someone else doesn't want printed.

00:16:38.940 Everything else is PR. That's a quote from Orwell. So I said, look at that guy. He wins an Emmy.

00:16:44.180 He's no spring chicken. He's been around. So he's not a young punk. He's a seasoned journalist.

00:16:48.440 Um, okay. So I'm open to what he has to report. Here's what he reported two weeks ago.

00:16:53.720 Chicago police source tells Fox 32 News that Jussie Smollett was seen on surveillance,

00:17:01.200 still holding his subway sandwich when he returned to the building after the alleged attack.

00:17:09.240 Really? So you're beat up by not one guy, but two guys. Now he said he fought back.

00:17:15.780 He said so. But he also had a rope put around his neck. And but also he had bleats splashed on him.

00:17:23.120 He didn't notice at the time, though, apparently, but he figured it out later.

00:17:26.460 But he never let go of the sandwich.

00:17:30.780 I mean, I like subway, too, but whoa.

00:17:37.540 Yeah. Imagine crediting this story as the truth.

00:17:41.640 Here's the thing about dramatic actors.

00:17:44.080 They usually need someone else to write the script for them.

00:17:47.600 The ugly guys write the script and the handsome guys are on TV.

00:17:52.040 Because sometimes the handsome guys aren't really good at writing stuff for themselves.

00:17:55.500 It's a team project.

00:17:56.460 Now, you don't need a writer when you're telling the truth.

00:18:00.820 You just say, what happened?

00:18:02.060 But this guy, I think his script needs a bit of work.

00:18:07.620 Well, look at this. Look at this. Look at this. Look at this. Look, look, look.

00:18:10.780 News breaking everywhere. Here's my favorite source.

00:18:14.760 The police are talking to two men.

00:18:16.880 In fact, I've since learned they're under arrest.

00:18:18.480 They're not just taking away. They're arrested suspects.

00:18:20.780 Who are, I think they're black. Maybe they identify as black. 0.99

00:18:26.620 I don't want to prejudge anyone.

00:18:29.520 They're buddies of Jussie Smollett.

00:18:31.840 They work out with him, apparently.

00:18:34.760 They take photos on social media with him.

00:18:37.440 It sounds like they're friends.

00:18:39.480 Let me quote from the story.

00:18:40.420 Two brothers, Olabinjo Ola Olsundero and Abimbola Aibel Olsundero,

00:18:49.720 have been identified as the men taken into custody by Chicago police for questioning as

00:18:53.240 potential persons of interest in last month's purported hate crime attack of Empire TV star Jussie Smollett.

00:19:00.860 Holy cow. 0.98

00:19:01.760 I got to tell you, people, white supremacists are so sneaky these days. 0.99

00:19:05.860 They come in all colors, apparently. 0.99

00:19:09.420 Only in America. God bless America.

00:19:11.840 Where even the white supremacists are black. 0.98

00:19:15.000 Yeah, no, it was a hoax, people. 0.98

00:19:17.320 But then again, you knew that.

00:19:20.380 CBS didn't know that. ABC didn't know that.

00:19:22.220 CNN didn't know that. The entire media party didn't know that.

00:19:24.400 And here's our own state broadcast for the CBC.

00:19:26.740 The family of actor Jussie Smollett has called the attack on the Black and Gay Empire cast member a hate crime,

00:19:33.240 and they pushed back against any suggestion that he was anything but honest with the police.

00:19:38.600 And then there's that tweet, and they did a huge story on the subject.

00:19:41.620 Our Canadian state broadcaster, attack on Empire actor, a racial and homophobic hate crime family says.

00:19:47.600 Jussie Smollett's family also pushed back against suggestion he was less than honest with the police.

00:19:51.120 Why would the CBC run a big story like that?

00:19:53.980 Smollett is a sea-less celebrity, if that.

00:19:58.100 He's obscure.

00:19:59.640 He's no connection to Canada.

00:20:01.100 He's a small American show.

00:20:03.340 I'm sure it's a good show for those who like it.

00:20:06.220 But look, there's a crime in Chicago every day.

00:20:09.480 It's actually the murder capital of America.

00:20:12.620 Well, obviously they're interested in it because of the Trump reference.

00:20:17.080 That's why the CBC ran with it.

00:20:18.400 That's why all the American stations ran with it.

00:20:20.600 Someone getting attacked in Chicago is actually not news.

00:20:23.980 It was the MAGA country lynching that made it news.

00:20:29.040 But it was a lie.

00:20:30.800 It was a lie.

00:20:33.360 Just like the Breathless Report from Edmonton a few years ago.

00:20:35.700 Remember that?

00:20:36.160 Someone was going around stuffing white supremacist flyers into mailboxes.

00:20:41.180 The whole media political complex was freaking out.

00:20:44.220 But then someone had a doorbell camera.

00:20:47.260 I don't know if you could quite see it here.

00:20:48.920 Yeah, there you go.

00:20:49.520 Do you see the white supremacist? 0.99

00:20:54.100 Ooh, black guy. 0.99

00:20:56.200 Black guy. 1.00

00:20:58.760 Black white supremacist. 0.82

00:21:00.100 You know, it's not as rare as it used to be.

00:21:03.480 When I was a kid, that would be unusual.

00:21:05.140 Who was that black guy handing out white supremacist literature? 0.90

00:21:10.480 I don't know. 0.94

00:21:11.200 Government worker, maybe.

00:21:12.160 A human rights activist, maybe.

00:21:13.320 Someone trying to gin up hate.

00:21:14.600 I don't know.

00:21:15.060 To sell newspapers.

00:21:16.000 To justify budgets for an anti-hate group.

00:21:17.780 To smear ordinary Albertans as racists.

00:21:19.840 I don't know.

00:21:20.380 I don't know.

00:21:20.760 Same reason a Muslim girl in Toronto lied about a man cutting her hijab on the street,

00:21:26.680 not once but twice.

00:21:27.840 This 11-year-old girl, the school actually promoted that, calling a national press conference.

00:21:34.120 Have you ever heard of an elementary school putting a child of tender years, 11 years old,

00:21:39.380 in a national press conference and actually inviting every reporter in the land to come

00:21:44.900 to the school to interview her live on camera?

00:21:47.160 The school and the police were cooperating.

00:21:50.060 What on earth have you ever heard of that before?

00:21:53.560 Why would they do that?

00:21:54.900 If she really had just been attacked on the street twice by a man with scissors who miraculously

00:22:00.400 just cut her hijab but not her face and was completely silent the whole time and no one

00:22:05.020 else saw it, by the way.

00:22:06.900 Yeah.

00:22:07.600 But if that really did happen, why would you show the world, including her attacker who

00:22:12.760 was allegedly still at Lodge at the time, why would you show her face and name and information

00:22:16.840 like that?

00:22:17.540 Why wasn't the school on lockdown if the perpetrator was still at large?

00:22:21.180 Why would you put a girl through the stress like that?

00:22:23.360 Oh, and by the way, why was her brother laughing in the background the whole time?

00:22:27.300 And who organized all this?

00:22:29.480 I mean, who managed to get the prime minister and the mayor and the premier and everyone

00:22:33.240 tweeting in unison within hours?

00:22:35.800 Yeah, it was a hoax.

00:22:36.880 Of course, of course, it was a hoax.

00:22:39.300 I'm not saying there are no hate crimes.

00:22:41.320 I happen to know there are a fair number of hate crimes.

00:22:47.880 Some of them are domestic.

00:22:49.320 Some of them are legitimate.

00:22:50.280 Some of them are imported from some of the most hateful regimes in the world. 0.95

00:22:54.060 Syria being amongst the worst. 1.00

00:22:55.820 Pakistan, too. 1.00

00:22:56.780 They hate Jews. 1.00

00:22:57.520 They hate gays. 1.00

00:22:58.160 They hate uncovered women. 1.00

00:22:59.420 Not all Syrians, of course. 0.97

00:23:00.440 Not all Pakistanis, of course.

00:23:02.180 But it's pretty widespread.

00:23:03.320 So, yeah, hate crimes are on the rise.

00:23:04.980 Some of it's domestic.

00:23:05.740 Some of it's imported, but it's not.

00:23:08.440 White guys with ropes and bottles of bleach saying, you're in MAGA country here in Chicago.

00:23:16.780 No, but that's the narrative the mainstream media likes.

00:23:20.620 I think Jussie Smollett's going to walk. 0.51

00:23:22.960 Chicago is one-third black.

00:23:24.520 It's in a policing crisis.

00:23:25.920 I told you about the violence.

00:23:27.400 Cops probably don't want the political fallout of charging a black celebrity with lying. 0.97

00:23:32.060 But even if they did, you can believe that for every tweet exposing his lie, there are

00:23:40.960 a hundred uncorrected tweets promoting his lie.

00:23:44.840 Do you think Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez is going to delete her tweet? 0.98

00:23:51.200 That hijab hoax girl from Toronto? 0.97

00:23:53.200 Well, even after the police officially declared it a hoax in a press release, well, look at this.

00:23:58.420 Justin Trudeau still has his two tweets on the subject up, uncorrected, undeleted.

00:24:06.680 One's in English, an identical one in French, implying that we're basically all a bunch of racists

00:24:12.180 and she's a victim.

00:24:14.460 Again, naming a minor child like that, that doesn't happen normally.

00:24:20.280 But even after the lie was proved, he's still on narrative because that's the point.

00:24:25.100 It's all too bad, I think, because maybe one in ten times a story like this is true. 0.80

00:24:33.040 Maybe one in ten times it really is an anti-gay or anti-black lynching.

00:24:36.600 It still does happen occasionally.

00:24:40.100 But demand far exceeds supply, so it's faked.

00:24:44.060 The other nine times out of ten, it's a scammer.

00:24:46.760 In this case, word is he was worried he would be written off the show,

00:24:50.040 so we need a little bit of attention and sympathy.

00:24:53.360 And Fox wouldn't write him off the show after this.

00:24:56.680 That would be cruel.

00:24:58.140 It's a scam.

00:24:59.860 It's a scam.

00:25:02.300 Trouble is, like the boy who cried wolf,

00:25:05.200 when we really do need to worry or care or pay attention,

00:25:08.860 when there really was someone black or gay or Jewish or Muslim or anyone being attacked,

00:25:14.840 no one's going to believe it anymore. 0.58

00:25:19.160 Stay with us for more.

00:25:34.380 Well, it wasn't just young Muslim men from around the world

00:25:37.720 who converged on Syria and Iraq over the last five years

00:25:41.620 to participate in the jihad as part of ISIS.

00:25:45.540 It was women, too, who went there as brides for the mujahideen, the terrorist men. 0.55

00:25:52.420 Well, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have practically put an end to ISIS,

00:25:58.160 and so some of these terrorists and their concubines, 1.00

00:26:02.220 why, they want to come back west.

00:26:04.960 And look at this headline in the Times of London.

00:26:09.220 Bring me home.

00:26:11.320 Exclusive.

00:26:11.880 The Times finds former schoolgirl who fled to join ISIS in Syrian refugee camps.

00:26:17.260 Oh, the poor dear. 1.00

00:26:18.220 She's just a schoolgirl. 0.87

00:26:20.100 Bring me home.

00:26:20.800 And look at her.

00:26:21.360 She seems so nice.

00:26:23.620 And as you can see on the right-hand side of the page,

00:26:25.760 an image of her walking out of the country.

00:26:29.320 I think that was taken perhaps at an airport or a train station

00:26:31.700 as she made her way to Syria.

00:26:33.580 This is a woman who was an essential part of ISIS, 1.00

00:26:38.460 who may well have, in fact, engaged in terrorism herself,

00:26:42.840 although surely supported terrorism. 0.85

00:26:45.540 It's quite likely that her husband had a rape slave in the home, 0.94

00:26:50.940 a Yazidi woman, quite likely. 0.90

00:26:53.940 And she wants to come back now,

00:26:56.360 and the Times seems to be doing their best to make that happen.

00:26:59.400 And joining us now via Skype from the United Kingdom is our friend Janice Atkinson,

00:27:04.120 a member of the European Parliament,

00:27:06.100 who is doing videos with the rebel these days.

00:27:08.820 Great to see you again, Janice.

00:27:10.500 Hi, Ezra.

00:27:11.420 Good to be on.

00:27:12.380 You know, I look at the layout of that front page

00:27:16.660 and that picture on the front page,

00:27:18.280 and there could have been about 100 ways to tell this story.

00:27:21.720 You could have shown the rubble.

00:27:23.120 You could have shown the death.

00:27:24.640 You could have shown how that woman actually would have been in Syria,

00:27:28.060 in Iraq, the full-face obscuring niqab, 0.99

00:27:30.880 not done just so like a model.

00:27:33.980 You could have had a thousand different choices of headlines.

00:27:37.080 But taking her point of view,

00:27:39.980 I felt, without getting into the heart of the story,

00:27:43.500 because most people will just see that on a newsstand,

00:27:45.800 I felt like the Times was basically saying,

00:27:48.520 let this poor schoolgirl home. 1.00

00:27:49.960 They're actually calling her a schoolgirl still.

00:27:53.260 I know.

00:27:53.920 She's had two babies.

00:27:55.140 I think the Times of London is just an absolute disgraceful rag.

00:27:59.820 This is where some of the mainstream media is.

00:28:02.260 But there's been a big backlash against this story

00:28:04.900 and the Times in London.

00:28:07.820 They described her as fleeing.

00:28:09.800 She had fled.

00:28:10.800 She left.

00:28:12.180 She chose to leave a Western democracy.

00:28:14.720 We took her parents in from Bangladesh some years ago.

00:28:18.460 I believe she was born in this country.

00:28:20.020 She chose her fate.

00:28:21.740 She's got no regrets about what she did.

00:28:24.320 She's got no remorse.

00:28:26.040 And so, therefore, she's had no entry to Britain.

00:28:28.300 If she took arms up against our country,

00:28:31.280 and she can rot in the desert, as far as I'm concerned, 1.00

00:28:34.320 she's just terrorist scum. 1.00

00:28:36.300 She forfeited her citizenship when she fled to go be a jihadi bride. 1.00

00:28:42.140 So, therefore, she's no longer a British citizen.

00:28:43.900 She's a citizen of ISIS. 0.98

00:28:46.040 As far as I'm concerned, she can just rot in Syria, in the refugee camp. 1.00

00:28:50.680 And bear in mind, she'd had two babies, and both of them had died.

00:28:54.620 We don't know the full extent of that.

00:28:56.420 One of them died of malnutrition.

00:28:58.540 The other one died.

00:28:59.720 And now she wants a third child. 0.94

00:29:01.360 If anything, I would take that child away from her.

00:29:03.960 I would bring that child back to the U.K., and I would give it to a desperate couple that want a baby. 1.00

00:29:09.800 You know, it's a good Christian Jewish people, even, Judeo-Christian society, which we are,

00:29:16.180 and they should be bringing up that baby, not being left languishing with her.

00:29:19.960 As far as I'm concerned, what I would do, and we're really, really weak and limp on treason charges and terrorist charges in this country. 0.94

00:29:28.720 We should have a death penalty. 0.99

00:29:30.060 We should bring it back for the jihadi wives and the jihadi men as well. 0.99

00:29:33.320 Or open a Guantanamo Bay.

00:29:36.700 All right, we've got plenty of Scottish islands.

00:29:38.620 We could have one up there.

00:29:40.020 And the U.S. is so frustrated by us that even some of the ISIS fighters that the Kurdish militia no longer want,

00:29:49.460 the so-called Beatles terrorists, the U.S. don't trust us to take them back, prosecute them properly,

00:29:57.840 so they're putting them into Guantanamo Bay.

00:30:00.060 I say we should have our own Guantanamo Bay.

00:30:02.200 Yeah, well, I mean, of course, even giving her baby up for adoption to a Muslim couple that is not pro-terrorism.

00:30:10.440 Let me ask you a question.

00:30:12.140 Here in Canada, after 9-11, there were revisions made to our criminal code,

00:30:16.840 which is our statute that lists the crimes in this country.

00:30:21.540 And it's very difficult to apply a legal solution to a military or terrorist problem

00:30:28.460 because in our normal courts of law, there's evidence, there's witnesses, there's beyond a reasonable doubt,

00:30:36.460 there's hearsay rules.

00:30:38.860 It's not built for a war zone or a terrorist zone where people may be dead, etc.

00:30:46.760 And so the Canadian law was changed that merely going over there or supporting or saying you would support

00:30:55.080 or taking steps to support it, that was a crime in itself.

00:30:59.280 Because if you were going to, if you're going to try and prosecute that ISIS wife, you couldn't do it. 0.99

00:31:08.140 Unless you had some Yazidi rape slave. 1.00

00:31:10.880 And really, are they going to come to London and have a trial and be cross-examined and, you know, credibility issues? 0.92

00:31:17.260 Can you really?

00:31:17.740 So, in Canada, we have a rule that says if you say you're with ISIS, if you take steps to help ISIS,

00:31:23.960 that's all we need to prove to convict you of a terrorist.

00:31:27.580 Has any Brit returning from Syria or Iraq being prosecuted and convicted in that manner or any other manner?

00:31:35.620 That's the Canadian way.

00:31:36.740 Has there been any prosecution in the UK?

00:31:39.420 We have something similar.

00:31:41.280 There's been around about 850 people that left the UK to go and fight as ISIS fighters.

00:31:47.740 400 that we know of have returned to the UK.

00:31:51.020 And there have only been 40 convictions.

00:31:54.080 Now, in our country, we've had 8,000 people.

00:31:57.280 And that's a small estimate.

00:31:59.240 Those are the numbers that I can get hold of.

00:32:01.740 They're referred to as something called the Prevent Programme,

00:32:04.420 which actually is supposed to stop people turning to ISIS and being radicalised.

00:32:08.720 And, you know, there's 400 under 10s that have been referred to, under 10-year-olds.

00:32:14.600 In 2015, the government produced something called Temporary Exclusion Orders,

00:32:20.060 and that was in order to control UK citizens involved in terrorism-related activities overseas.

00:32:26.520 But in the two years, from 2015 to 2017, only nine of those have been imposed.

00:32:33.680 So, yes, it is illegal.

00:32:34.840 The Conservative government decided that they can strip citizenship of those people that have got dual nationality.

00:32:43.140 And that's what they're looking at at the moment, because this ISIS creature, they say, may have a dual nationality.

00:32:51.720 So, because her parents came here from Bangladesh, and she's also married to a Dutch citizen,

00:32:57.380 and he's disappeared somewhere, but he's a known terrorist as well.

00:33:01.660 He was setting up Basaklan Manchester murders, etc.

00:33:05.120 So, that's the situation at the moment.

00:33:07.540 But you know what?

00:33:08.400 I think you've got it in Canada, the same as we've got here.

00:33:10.780 You've got the human rights industry, who are hugely funded, who are enemies of the British state.

00:33:16.680 And that's what we're fighting against now.

00:33:18.680 The left-wing press are coming out saying, oh, she's entitled to British citizenships.

00:33:23.100 She was only a 15-year-old.

00:33:24.760 She didn't know what she was doing.

00:33:25.960 This is a very bright, A-star pupil.

00:33:29.680 She knew exactly what she was doing.

00:33:31.720 And the left say, on one hand, oh, you should give votes to 16-year-olds.

00:33:36.020 And then, oh, she didn't know what she was doing at 15.

00:33:38.320 The woman has had two babies.

00:33:39.640 She's pregnant with another one. 1.00

00:33:40.860 She's 19.

00:33:41.580 She's married.

00:33:42.320 She knew exactly what she was doing.

00:33:43.880 She's an enemy of the state. 1.00

00:33:45.080 Yeah, you know, it's funny because Omar Khadr, a terrorist in this country, was a few weeks shy of his 16th birthday.

00:33:52.620 By the way, 16, you can join the Canadian military at 16.

00:33:58.840 You can even join in some forms at 14. 0.98

00:34:01.680 So to pretend that this terrorist, a few weeks shy of 16, was some infant is ridiculous.

00:34:06.800 I should point out, Janice, that I mentioned that our criminal code allows prosecutions for people who were thinking of going over or did go over.

00:34:14.940 We have not yet prosecuted a single returnee, returner from Syria or Iraq.

00:34:23.460 So I guess I was saying we have the law in the books, but we haven't used it.

00:34:28.000 So we're just as bad as you are.

00:34:29.560 Let me ask you, I was really upset with the cover of The Times because that's a prestige press.

00:34:35.280 That's probably the fanciest paper in the U.K., I think.

00:34:38.200 It's so old and established.

00:34:40.720 That's where we get the phrase Times New Roman, the typeface for The Times created, especially for this newspaper over 100 years ago.

00:34:49.300 That's what we use on our computers to this day.

00:34:51.380 Like it's so perhaps the most prestigious newspaper in the entire world.

00:34:55.140 And they seem to be on the other side here.

00:34:59.440 They seem to be on the other side.

00:35:01.380 Does this reflect elite opinion, grassroots opinion, anyone's opinion, political opinion?

00:35:06.860 Who agrees with The Times?

00:35:08.300 A couple of the left-wing newspapers, The Independent and The Guardian.

00:35:14.840 But equally, you know, The Guardian only survives because he's got a trust fund in an offshore country in the Caribbean.

00:35:23.160 And The Independent's had to go online.

00:35:25.860 So, you know, these are not credible opposition papers.

00:35:29.060 Now, there's been a huge backlash, absolute huge backlash.

00:35:32.160 You see the headlines across the Daily Mail, The Sun, The Telegraph, and they're very strong in their condemnation of The Times and that this woman should not be allowed back into the U.K. 1.00

00:35:43.320 And I've been listening to the phone-ins today on the radio across the nation and also looking at social media.

00:35:51.060 I mean, it's almost 80%, 90% in favour of her not being allowed back and she could just rotted the jowl, the hellhole in Syria where she's found herself. 1.00

00:36:02.860 So, you know, and I think the Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, is trying his best to find some sort of strong language.

00:36:11.340 But the trouble is he will be up against the human rights industry that will pay for her to be found and brought back again.

00:36:18.240 The British government said they're not, but there has been this absolute backlash with ordinary people thinking about, well, it was only a couple of years ago we had the Manchester bombings where little girls and their mothers were blown to pieces because of this ideology.

00:36:31.540 It was only a couple of years ago that we had the Bassaclan murder where people were blown to bits.

00:36:36.360 Charlie Hebdo was blown to bits.

00:36:37.920 We've had this ideology, this infestation spreading, this virus spreading across our countries.

00:36:45.320 It's only happening in Western Europe because they haven't had the same problem in Eastern Europe and it's got to be stopped.

00:36:50.680 So the politicians, I would suggest the so-called faux conservatives that are in power in my country, they have really got to step up to the plate and stop this woman coming in and stop funding the human rights industry that is also fighting against and are enemies of the state of the people. 0.87

00:37:08.860 Well, Janice, it's fascinating to watch this in the UK because, of course, the numbers you told us, the 800-plus British Muslims going over to fight with ISIS, those are numbers that dwarf our Canadian numbers.

00:37:22.800 So how your country responds, not just the politicians, but the courts, the press, the popular culture is very instructive to us over here.

00:37:33.380 It's great to see you again, my friend, and I look forward to your reports in the days and weeks ahead.

00:37:37.660 Thank you, Ezra.

00:37:38.320 All right, there you have it.

00:37:39.520 Janice Atkinson is a member of the European Parliament. 0.99

00:37:42.980 She was elected several years ago.

00:37:45.160 Of course, Brexit means that the British participation in that European Parliament is coming to a close,

00:37:51.840 and I'm sure that Janice will have reports on this interesting subject in the weeks ahead.

00:37:56.200 Stay with us.

00:37:56.880 More Ahead on the Rebel.

00:37:57.520 Hey, welcome back on my monologue yesterday about the fourth anniversary of Rebel Media.

00:38:13.600 Grieg writes,

00:38:14.480 It seems like just yesterday we were building the Rebel brick by brick after the loss of the Sun News Network.

00:38:20.360 I've thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

00:38:21.420 Keep it going.

00:38:22.120 Many thanks to the Rebel team and fellow supporters.

00:38:23.940 Well, thanks very much.

00:38:25.360 Thank you very much.

00:38:26.160 Today we had a little staff celebration.

00:38:29.540 We had some sandwiches and some pastries, and like 18 of us shared one bottle of champagne with orange juice.

00:38:38.460 So we got really carried away.

00:38:41.040 It was pretty fun, and we talked a bit, and it's a big team here.

00:38:45.200 I mean, you only see the on-camera people, but we have people who do everything from editing and producing and databasing and accounting and the whole thing.

00:38:53.300 So it's a good team, and thank you for supporting us.

00:38:56.320 You know, we talked about this at our meeting today.

00:38:58.360 We talked about—I mean, just give me a minute right now.

00:39:02.500 I'll just tell you.

00:39:03.520 There's four ways you can pay for a media company.

00:39:07.220 Number one, you can take government money.

00:39:09.300 That's what the CBC does.

00:39:10.320 No thanks.

00:39:11.300 Number two, you can be part of a big corporation.

00:39:13.600 They got lots of dough.

00:39:14.820 But then you have to be very sensitive to criticism, and you don't talk about anything controversial.

00:39:19.820 That's like CTV or the Globe and Mail, right?

00:39:22.440 Number three, you could have a billionaire boss.

00:39:25.340 Jeff Bezos of Amazon owns Washington Post.

00:39:27.540 Carlos Slim of Mexico owns the New York Times.

00:39:30.320 I guess that's the Thompson family in Canada's, which his family owns a chunk of the globe.

00:39:36.120 Pierre-Carl Pelletot owns Sun News Network.

00:39:38.220 I guess if you could find yourself a billionaire patron of the arts, and if you can accept his terms and that he's the boss and not you, that's a good way to go.

00:39:46.440 We've tried a new way called crowdfunding, where it's you chipping in.

00:39:52.980 Our average gift is $63, I think.

00:39:56.040 And from that, we've built a company.

00:39:57.720 I don't know, it's been hard work, but it's been rewarding work, and I thank you for being there.

00:40:03.520 You are the reason that we are alive, because those first three options are not there for us.

00:40:09.500 Outwrites, when I first stumbled onto the rebel from a link in an NFA, a National Firearms Association, email, it was like finally getting out of the smog and breathing fresh air.

00:40:17.700 Ah, well, thank you very much, and we are for property rights and self-defense, and we're against the scapegoating of gun control extremists who have this fiction that the problem is farmers and duck hunters as opposed to urban gangbangers who use handguns that are never registered anyway.

00:40:39.460 So, yeah, we're on your side.

00:40:42.000 Jane writes, happy birthday, Rebel.

00:40:44.120 Been with you since day one, and we'll continue to contribute to the dark side.

00:40:47.720 Laugh out loud.

00:40:48.480 Cheers.

00:40:49.080 Thanks very much, Jane.

00:40:49.880 Appreciate that.

00:40:51.580 You know, there are some people who have given to us more than 10 times, and it's amazing.

00:40:55.940 And how do you thank someone like that?

00:40:58.400 Well, you just realize that they want you to keep doing what you're doing, so you better keep doing it and better do your best to do it well.

00:41:04.600 Real writes, congrats to Ezra and his team.

00:41:08.360 Thanks for holding all levels of government and politicians to account, even if they snub you.

00:41:12.120 Well, that's the thing.

00:41:13.120 I mean, it's like when Sheila Gunn-Reed was the only journalist not allowed into the UN Global Warming Convention in Poland or before that in Bonn, Germany.

00:41:26.140 That's the way you know Sheila's independent. 1.00

00:41:30.180 It's almost like it's a certification.

00:41:32.120 The UN disapproved.

00:41:35.020 If the UN would say, yeah, we trust Sheila, ooh, then you couldn't. 0.98

00:41:40.740 And the fact that all these politicians, including politicians on the right who are a little bit cowardly, like the cowardly lions, 0.77

00:41:48.500 and you're sharing Jason Kenney, who don't, I don't like the rebel. 0.96

00:41:50.840 I don't like the rebel.

00:41:51.940 Well, that proves we're independent, doesn't it?

00:41:55.660 It proves we're not, you know, we have no masters.

00:41:58.220 I told you about a corporate master or a billionaire patron of the arts master.

00:42:02.420 We don't have that.

00:42:03.260 We answer to you.

00:42:04.360 You know, it's a shame that the conservative parties in this country are not in sync with the conservative people of this country and the conservative media in this country.

00:42:12.720 But that's their business.

00:42:13.660 We're going to keep doing what we're doing.

00:42:14.780 And that's what we do every day.

00:42:18.100 Well, I hope you enjoyed the shows this week.

00:42:20.500 May I recommend, if you're interested in the Yellow Vest Convoy, we have embedded our young Calgary reporter, Kian Bexty, on the convoy.

00:42:29.600 And he'll be on it.

00:42:30.700 And it's keeping rolling this weekend.

00:42:32.840 Go to rebelconvoy.com.

00:42:36.620 He's doing a lot of great updates.

00:42:37.940 I'm really enjoying that.

00:42:39.180 I've got to tell you.

00:42:40.460 Go to rebelconvoy.com.

00:42:41.860 I think it's good journalism.

00:42:44.460 On that note, let me say goodbye.

00:42:46.040 And from all of us here to you at home, keep fighting for freedom as we enter our fifth year.

00:42:50.900 Bye, everybody.
