00:00:19.360 And Sheila Gunn-Reed will chronicle the plight of Mr. Osman, who wants a vanity plate displaying his surname,

00:00:26.220 but the Saskatchewan bureaucrats just won't allow it, and wait till you hear the nitty-gritty regarding this one.

00:01:35.940 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, ladies and gentlemen, and the rest of you,

00:01:42.040 in which we look back at some of the very best commentaries of the week by your favourite rebels.

00:01:47.140 I'm your host, David Menzies.

00:01:49.420 While the SNC-Lavalin scandal continues to take myriad twists and turns,

00:01:54.800 in the meantime, the Justin Trudeau Liberals are clearly in panic mode.

00:01:59.700 Ezra Levant will have the latest.

00:02:01.640 The Yellow Vest convoy is rolling east, and it'll be hitting Ottawa come Tuesday.

00:02:08.240 Kenan Bexte is embedded in that convoy, and he'll have the latest on this massive protest.

00:02:15.280 And pity Mr. Osman, whose name is spelt A-S-S-M-A-N.

00:02:21.360 He wants a vanity plate displaying his surname.

00:02:24.000 But the bureaucrats in Saskatchewan are saying nyan because apparently this would prove too offensive to other motorists.

00:02:33.500 Sheila Gunn-Reed has all the comical details. 0.99

00:02:37.460 And finally, we get your letters.

00:02:39.140 We get your letters every minute of every day.

00:02:41.560 And I'll share some of the letters we received regarding my report

00:02:45.200 on how the Academy Awards has thrown in the towel regarding having a host this year.

00:02:51.280 Yes, apparently there is a dearth of celebrities who can combine comedy with sensitivity.

00:02:59.220 End result?

00:03:00.280 Get ready for a snooze fest.

00:03:03.020 Assuming you're still watching this thing, that is.

00:03:06.260 Those are your Rebels, folks.

00:03:07.740 Now let's round them up.

00:03:09.040 We'll be right back.

00:03:39.020 This is the entire political system, I would say.

00:03:42.300 Let me quote two lines from it.

00:03:44.380 Dear Prime Minister, with a heavy heart, I am writing to tender my resignation

00:03:47.200 as the Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defense.

00:03:51.020 And let me skip down, about two-thirds of the way down.

00:03:53.920 She says,

00:03:54.280 I am aware that many Canadians wish for me to speak on matters that have been in the media

00:03:59.340 over the last week.

00:04:00.640 I am in the process of obtaining advice on the topics that I am legally permitted to discuss

00:04:06.080 in this matter.

00:04:07.060 And as such, have retained the Honorable Thomas Albert Cromwell, C.C., as counsel.

00:04:13.820 And just one last point.

00:04:15.100 She signs it, Puglis.

00:04:17.160 That is her aboriginal name.

00:04:18.940 above her English name, Jody Wilson Rabel.

00:04:22.820 That is a fighting document.

00:04:24.960 The fact that she's retained a former Supreme Court judge to give her advice to tell her

00:04:29.640 what to do and how to talk about this is very interesting to me.

00:04:34.580 There are real questions about whether or not she actually has solicited her client privilege

00:04:40.080 on this matter that she has to submit to.

00:04:42.960 Justin Trudeau, of course, could waive any such privilege and say,

00:04:45.920 oh, you're free to talk.

00:04:47.020 I release you from that.

00:04:47.880 But he won't.

00:04:48.980 The government's in a panic.

00:04:50.800 Oh, the federal government is in panic mode, all right,

00:04:53.540 because the SNC-Lavalin scandal is not going away anytime soon.

00:04:58.200 And oh, to be a fly on the wall of the liberal inner circle

00:05:02.320 to hear the best laid plans of mice and persons

00:05:05.660 being bandied about by Justin Trudeau and co-Prime Minister Gerald Butz.

00:05:10.740 But one thing is certain.

00:05:12.600 In the past, Justin has proven to have a Teflon-like exterior

00:05:16.480 when it comes to avoiding debilitating scandals sticking to him.

00:05:21.180 But no amount of political tap dancing is going to make Trudeau immune

00:05:25.440 from this raging dumpster fire.

00:05:28.380 And with more on this scandal that only intensifies with every passing day

00:05:33.620 is our very own rebel commander, Ezra Levette.

00:05:36.120 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, Ezra.

00:05:37.580 Well, thanks very much.

00:05:38.220 You know, I don't often disagree with you, David,

00:05:40.360 but I think I'm going to disagree with you here.

00:05:41.920 I think that Justin Trudeau absolutely will skate through this.

00:05:46.900 I see evidence that he already is.

00:05:48.920 I see reporters already saying, well, for example,

00:05:52.080 the Globe and Mail itself was saying, well, you know,

00:05:54.680 there's a lot of good reasons that we should have a deferred prosecution deal

00:05:58.780 with SNC-Lavalin.

00:06:01.120 I notice that the bulk of the Quebec-based media

00:06:05.640 is taking the stance, why are you picking on a Quebec company?

00:06:09.780 I see that most liberals are rallying around their leader,

00:06:15.400 including a number of liberals who have taken to disparaging

00:06:18.600 Jody Wilson-Raybould, saying that she wasn't up to the job,

00:06:21.940 she was incompetent, or as Anthony Howe's father, 0.69

00:06:24.600 the bizarre liberal from Montreal, said yesterday,

00:06:27.020 she was fired because she didn't speak French,

00:06:28.520 which apparently they only found out a few months ago.

00:06:32.200 Wasn't that preposterous?

00:06:33.740 Well, you know what?

00:06:36.320 The fact that he still sits in caucus and has the positions he has,

00:06:42.160 this absolutely will blow over

00:06:45.320 because Trudeau has perfected brazening it out,

00:06:50.560 and he just reads his lines literally.

00:06:52.440 There was a moment the other day where he said,

00:06:53.880 uh, what's the line again?

00:06:55.520 Like, he did, like, he...

00:06:56.900 I saw that.

00:06:58.060 And, um, you've got a few reporters who are hungry for this.

00:07:02.480 Uh, the three reporters at the Globe who broke the story,

00:07:04.800 Bob Fyfe, Steve Chase, and Sean Fine.

00:07:06.600 I think they're invested in it.

00:07:08.320 And I think the editor-in-chief of the Globe and Mail

00:07:10.680 is running with it, too.

00:07:12.460 But you can see the counter forces.

00:07:14.200 Uh, Chantal Ibert, the Toronto Star, uh, the CBC.

00:07:18.420 Listen, if he could skate through groping Rose Knight,

00:07:21.900 who he sexually assaulted in 2000 and Creston, B.C.,

00:07:24.660 he'll skate through this.

00:07:26.220 And, um, most people aren't following this news.

00:07:30.680 They don't understand SNC-Lavalin.

00:07:32.840 What does that word even mean?

00:07:34.400 What's a deferred prosecution agreement even mean?

00:07:37.160 Trudeau says he didn't do anything wrong.

00:07:38.980 I think this is technical, vague, and complex.

00:07:43.680 And, um, I don't think most people are following the news.

00:07:47.540 I don't think most people care.

00:07:49.060 I think most people are following, uh, fun news instead

00:07:52.500 that Trudeau excels at, like, uh, that girl in Toronto

00:07:55.320 who threw a patio chair off of a tall condo.

00:07:58.840 Yes.

00:07:59.120 The only way that I think this is going to make a dent

00:08:02.380 is if the RCMP file some sort of corruption charges in Canada,

00:08:07.580 whether against Trudeau, SNC-Lavalin, some Trudeau staff.

00:08:12.220 I just think this notion that there's any integrity

00:08:16.020 in the Quebec-based Liberal Party is wrong.

00:08:18.980 Nigel Wright, Stephen Harper's chief of staff,

00:08:21.780 had so much integrity.

00:08:24.100 Not only did he not take his salary to be chief of staff

00:08:27.920 or bill any expenses at all,

00:08:31.560 when he saw there was a possible ethical question

00:08:34.680 about Mike Duffy's expenses,

00:08:35.840 Nigel Wright reached into his own pocket

00:08:37.880 to pay the government 90 grand

00:08:39.220 just to make the problem go away.

00:08:40.680 Obviously, he didn't make the problem go away

00:08:42.000 because they said, oh, that's, you're bribing someone.

00:08:45.840 That turned into a huge court trial.

00:08:48.920 Duffy was acquitted.

00:08:50.300 But the only reason that went anywhere

00:08:52.460 was because Stephen Harper, Nigel Wright,

00:08:55.580 and everyone involved had a sense of shame or honour.

00:09:01.240 Justin Trudeau is the kind of person

00:09:03.200 who lies about taking a secret $200,000 vacation

00:09:07.400 on Billionaire's Island, lies to the ethics commissioner.

00:09:10.180 She said he lied.

00:09:11.300 She convicted him four times.

00:09:13.300 His chief of staff, Gerald Butts,

00:09:14.800 billed taxpayers six figures just to move down the road

00:09:17.120 from Toronto to Ottawa, hid that from the public.

00:09:20.100 This is a culture of corruption.

00:09:23.400 This is the guy, Justin Trudeau,

00:09:24.920 who put two nannies on the public payroll

00:09:28.280 instead of paying for his own nannies

00:09:31.640 like everyone else does.

00:09:32.740 This is a guy who feels entitled to everything

00:09:37.200 and has never in his life, he's 46 years old, 47,

00:09:42.560 he has never in his life had any accountability

00:09:45.940 and until the RCMP knock on his door, he will skate.

00:09:51.700 Is that going to happen, Ezra, by the way?

00:09:53.660 I doubt it.

00:09:54.560 He's handpicked the new RCMP commissioner

00:09:57.540 who is another gender quota appointee.

00:10:00.260 Now, there may be some cop who says,

00:10:03.360 I'm going to take a run at this,

00:10:04.540 but you don't take a run at the prime minister

00:10:06.320 without having that approved by the commissioner of the RCMP.

00:10:09.860 In the United States, there were rumors

00:10:14.040 and fake dossiers circulating claiming

00:10:16.780 that Donald Trump is a Russian spy.

00:10:18.660 Yes.

00:10:19.380 The most capitalist pro-American guy in the world 0.95

00:10:22.080 is apparently a Russian spy.

00:10:23.420 The guy who's put more sanctions on Russia

00:10:25.040 than anyone else in history is a Russian spy,

00:10:27.380 as opposed to Barack Obama,

00:10:28.940 who let Putin devour Ukraine,

00:10:31.620 and Hillary Clinton, who let Putin buy American uranium. 0.99

00:10:36.240 But even those were flimsy accusations.

00:10:41.080 You have had a two-year, $20, $30 million

00:10:44.040 independent special counsel named Mueller

00:10:47.400 who is investigating, subpoenaing, searching,

00:10:52.700 even doing armed raids on houses of political operatives.

00:10:58.080 So it shows, and in the United States,

00:11:00.720 you have independent Senate and congressional committees

00:11:03.520 with the power of subpoena.

00:11:04.420 You have none of that here in Canada.

00:11:06.240 So you see yesterday, for example,

00:11:08.820 the liberals voting down any form of a parliamentary committee,

00:11:14.220 and that would be a toothless committee to begin with.

00:11:16.760 So I believe that Justin Trudeau absolutely will skate.

00:11:21.560 I believe that other than a few righteous journalists,

00:11:25.180 most will fall into line,

00:11:26.700 especially when the $595 million slush fund kicks in.

00:11:30.180 And mainly this will work

00:11:32.020 because Canadians are deferential and polite

00:11:35.500 and say, oh, after you, after you, after you, sorry, sorry,

00:11:37.660 except for Trudeau's inner circle,

00:11:39.960 who have no Canadian compunction,

00:11:42.440 have no sense of shame or honour.

00:11:45.140 So they will, they really are a form of the mafia.

00:11:48.920 We use that phrase,

00:11:50.080 the Libranos,

00:11:50.840 to describe the Quebec-based liberals a decade ago.

00:11:53.400 The Libranos are back, baby. 0.97

00:11:55.500 You know, Ezra,

00:11:56.360 you have an outstanding batting average

00:11:58.300 when it comes to being accurate.

00:12:01.300 I hope you're wrong on this, however.

00:12:04.700 I hope that,

00:12:06.540 because I just see the optics of this being so horrible.

00:12:10.460 And I also see the way Ms. Rivalda is being treated 1.00

00:12:14.100 in terms of a smear and fear campaign.

00:12:17.420 If I can just read a quote.

00:12:19.100 This appeared in the Toronto Star the other day.

00:12:21.960 An anonymous Liberal MP,

00:12:23.540 and I was stunned reading this,

00:12:25.640 if she thinks because of her status indigenous

00:12:28.960 that somehow this exempts her

00:12:32.200 from being there at the pleasure of the prime minister,

00:12:35.360 then she has a profound misunderstanding

00:12:38.000 of the system, end quote.

00:12:40.000 That is staggering.

00:12:40.980 I think it borders on races, actually.

00:12:43.060 Yeah.

00:12:44.260 It's funny because, of course,

00:12:45.780 Justin Trudeau never stopped talking

00:12:47.800 about the fact that she was a woman,

00:12:49.800 a woman of colour, an average woman.

00:12:51.460 And Justin Trudeau, one of the very first things

00:12:53.320 he said about his cabinet was,

00:12:55.460 it's, I've made this gender quota 0.99

00:12:57.480 because it's 2015, he said.

00:12:59.620 So, on the one hand, it's not that surprising.

00:13:01.800 It's like when his candidate in Burnaby said,

00:13:05.440 look, I'm the Chinese candidate.

00:13:07.260 Vote for me, you get a Chinese candidate. 1.00

00:13:09.200 If all the Chinese people vote for me, 1.00

00:13:10.780 I'll win, as opposed to Jagmeet Singh,

00:13:15.380 who's...

00:13:16.040 An Indian. 0.69

00:13:16.600 Yeah, South Asian.

00:13:17.880 And she was just speaking honestly.

00:13:19.220 Well, that's how the Liberals operate. 0.69

00:13:21.900 So, it is sort of gross when you look at it, 0.90

00:13:25.580 but it really is not that much more gross

00:13:28.160 than, hey, guys, hey, look,

00:13:30.060 I have, I've collected Noah's Ark here

00:13:32.680 of two of every animal.

00:13:33.880 Aren't they cute?

00:13:35.440 May I now introduce you

00:13:36.680 to our Sikh cabinet minister?

00:13:38.460 May I now introduce you

00:13:39.560 to our Muslim cabinet minister?

00:13:41.180 We have so, I'm such a, you know,

00:13:43.580 it's like Rudyard Kipling's poem,

00:13:44.960 The White Man's Burden.

00:13:46.300 Justin Trudeau is so generous

00:13:48.020 to the minorities.

00:13:50.800 So, Trudeau can't really have it both ways.

00:13:55.720 His, I mean, I don't think Jody Wilson-Raybould

00:13:59.000 was a great justice minister,

00:14:00.620 mainly because I disagree with her ideology.

00:14:02.420 Okay.

00:14:03.700 I'm not saying she was incompetent.

00:14:05.860 I'm just saying she was wrong.

00:14:07.500 That's a different thing.

00:14:08.920 But Justin Trudeau appointed her,

00:14:10.960 not because she was likely

00:14:12.200 the best justice minister of his caucus,

00:14:16.500 but because she was an Aboriginal woman.

00:14:17.920 So, she appointed him for that reason.

00:14:19.680 So, it's really not surprising

00:14:21.280 that they would, after firing her,

00:14:25.320 say, oh, just because you're a woman of color, 0.95

00:14:27.160 don't think you can get away with things.

00:14:28.700 That's the other side of the coin.

00:14:30.120 When you hire someone for racial reasons

00:14:33.340 and then you fire them,

00:14:35.520 don't be shocked if there's a racial tinge to it too. 0.84

00:14:38.100 I mean, that's gross,

00:14:39.520 but it's unsurprising to me

00:14:41.680 coming from this liberal government.

00:14:43.280 You know, Ezra, what about,

00:14:44.720 there's a contrarian viewpoint,

00:14:46.100 and I was kind of stunned hearing it,

00:14:47.840 but I want to bounce it off you.

00:14:49.780 Given that there are thousands of plum jobs at stake,

00:14:53.780 SNC-Lavalin is a gem crown corporation in Quebec.

00:15:00.200 There's this attitude that

00:15:02.140 maybe we should have allowed the law to be broken

00:15:05.520 or turn a blind eye to the law

00:15:08.080 so that this company is preserved

00:15:13.280 and these jobs are maintained.

00:15:16.300 What is your response to that?

00:15:17.940 Because, you know, the theory is

00:15:19.520 we were dealing with Libya 0.99

00:15:20.880 and in that part of the world,

00:15:22.940 bribery is the way you do business

00:15:26.140 and if you don't do it that way,

00:15:27.720 you don't get the contracts.

00:15:29.660 Yeah, well, that's not how business is done

00:15:33.020 in the West.

00:15:35.460 The United States has anti-corruption laws

00:15:38.480 that are extremely vigorous.

00:15:40.480 I think it's called the FISA law foreign,

00:15:45.200 you know, I'm sorry,

00:15:45.800 I can't remember what it stands for,

00:15:47.380 but any company anywhere around the world

00:15:50.580 that has a foot in America

00:15:53.520 that also does business overseas,

00:15:56.220 they are governed by anti-corruption laws

00:15:58.680 that are extremely tough.

00:16:01.480 If you engage in bribery or corruption

00:16:04.580 and are caught,

00:16:05.320 and I'm sorry,

00:16:06.260 I can't remember that,

00:16:07.660 sorry, it's not FISA,

00:16:08.840 it's a different,

00:16:10.140 it's Foreign Corrupt Practices Act

00:16:12.100 or something like that,

00:16:13.300 FCPA.

00:16:14.220 I'm sorry,

00:16:14.560 I don't know the American law

00:16:15.540 off the top of my head.

00:16:20.320 If you are caught

00:16:21.780 as an American company

00:16:23.300 or a Canadian or a German company

00:16:25.740 with a foot in America,

00:16:27.260 so if you're regulated all by Americans

00:16:28.880 and you engage in bribery

00:16:30.740 anywhere in the world,

00:16:32.440 you will be punished

00:16:33.820 with hundreds of millions of dollars

00:16:37.060 in fines

00:16:38.160 with possible prison terms

00:16:40.760 and you will be banned

00:16:42.700 from doing any business

00:16:44.760 with various American institutions,

00:16:46.280 including the World Bank,

00:16:47.160 for example,

00:16:48.500 which has banned SNC-Lavalin

00:16:51.100 from touching

00:16:51.740 any of its projects around the world.

00:16:53.720 So it is not the way it's done.

00:16:56.000 That's how it's done

00:16:57.200 in corrupt, failed states,

00:16:59.820 which the Trudeau liberals

00:17:01.980 seem to really admire.

00:17:04.360 But getting away from the law

00:17:06.900 and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act,

00:17:08.840 I think that's what it's called,

00:17:11.060 if there's engineering work to do,

00:17:13.240 engineers will do it.

00:17:15.620 Maybe it won't be called SNC-Lavalin.

00:17:18.280 Maybe it'll be called NewCo

00:17:20.200 or EthicalCo or something.

00:17:22.980 Like the work will be done,

00:17:23.940 the money will be spent,

00:17:25.220 bridges will be built,

00:17:26.340 hospitals will be built.

00:17:27.640 I mentioned hospitals.

00:17:28.720 Of course, SNC-Lavalin

00:17:30.200 was involved with

00:17:31.380 a corrupt super hospital in Montreal.

00:17:33.840 This is a very corrupt company

00:17:35.880 to begin with.

00:17:37.240 They admitted to paying

00:17:38.140 $48 million in bribes in Libya.

00:17:39.840 They admitted to helping

00:17:41.120 to steal more than $100 million

00:17:42.220 from the Libyan people.

00:17:45.360 It wasn't an excuse for Enron.

00:17:48.100 It wasn't an excuse for Brex.

00:17:49.920 Oh, gosh, sure,

00:17:51.160 we ripped you all off, 0.98

00:17:52.560 but, you know,

00:17:53.780 you don't want to put me

00:17:54.560 out of work, do you?

00:17:55.380 Yeah, because, you know,

00:17:57.300 my kids need a new pair of shoes.

00:17:59.760 So that's an excuse

00:18:02.520 that any criminal could say.

00:18:04.120 Yeah.

00:18:04.340 Oh, sure,

00:18:05.040 I robbed the bank, Your Honor,

00:18:06.480 but you don't want to put me in jail.

00:18:08.020 First of all,

00:18:08.440 I really need the money.

00:18:09.800 Yeah.

00:18:09.980 And second of all,

00:18:11.920 you know,

00:18:12.840 this could really put a dent

00:18:14.360 in my lifestyle, Your Honor.

00:18:15.740 Yeah.

00:18:15.860 If you put me...

00:18:16.400 So that...

00:18:17.120 But that's what I say

00:18:19.280 when I mention the brazening it out.

00:18:21.980 When you're willing

00:18:22.800 to look people in the eye

00:18:23.820 and say,

00:18:24.220 you wouldn't really,

00:18:26.460 actually expect this company

00:18:28.740 to be prosecuted.

00:18:30.940 They're a gem.

00:18:31.760 Now, they're not a crown corporation,

00:18:32.900 but they're sort of the pride of Quebec.

00:18:34.860 They're not owned by the government.

00:18:35.800 They're a private company.

00:18:37.160 Prosecute them.

00:18:38.200 Bankrupt them for all I care. 0.92

00:18:39.440 I mean,

00:18:39.760 I don't want the company

00:18:40.940 to go bankrupt because,

00:18:42.220 you know,

00:18:42.600 but I think they should be punished

00:18:44.300 to the full extent of the law.

00:18:45.920 And if that means

00:18:46.780 a bunch of corrupt people

00:18:48.600 go to jail, 0.97

00:18:49.620 so be it.

00:18:50.640 If shareholders pay the price,

00:18:52.420 so be it.

00:18:53.460 And if good engineers are let go,

00:18:55.720 I'm sure good engineers

00:18:56.680 will recombine

00:18:57.560 and get ethical work out of it.

00:19:00.000 I'm sorry.

00:19:01.100 Not prosecuting someone

00:19:02.940 because it could hurt their feelings

00:19:04.560 is not a reason

00:19:05.520 not to prosecute someone.

00:19:06.940 Well, Ezra,

00:19:07.400 we have to wrap it here.

00:19:09.140 And, well,

00:19:10.040 what can I tell you, folks?

00:19:10.940 The boss is saying

00:19:11.860 that Trudeau

00:19:12.860 is actually going to escape

00:19:14.080 from this dumpster fire.

00:19:15.900 If that is the case,

00:19:17.160 I think it just proves

00:19:18.460 that there's a huge percentage

00:19:20.340 of the Canadian electorate

00:19:21.820 that is just completely disengaged

00:19:24.580 from what's happening in Ottawa.

00:19:26.520 And secondly,

00:19:27.700 that Justin Trudeau

00:19:28.740 has more lives

00:19:29.780 than the proverbial cat.

00:19:31.540 We'll see.

00:19:32.040 Time will tell.

00:19:32.740 Keep it here.

00:19:33.280 More of Rebel Roundup

00:19:34.140 to come after this.

00:19:44.200 It's a late night

00:19:45.140 here in Regina, Saskatchewan,

00:19:46.740 where the protest convoy

00:19:47.720 has made its first stop

00:19:48.940 for the night.

00:19:49.360 It's been a high-energy convoy

00:19:50.840 all the way since Red Deer.

00:19:52.060 At a pit stop,

00:19:52.960 we were actually able

00:19:53.560 to hand out

00:19:53.940 some of our limited-edition

00:19:55.640 Rebel convoy bumper stickers.

00:19:57.500 If you see me along the way,

00:19:58.400 all the way to Ottawa,

00:19:59.180 we have lots.

00:19:59.800 Be sure to ask me for one.

00:20:01.160 We also had the chance

00:20:01.780 to chat with some real Albertans

00:20:03.300 about what they hope

00:20:04.180 to gain from this movement.

00:20:05.600 I have grandsons

00:20:06.520 and my brother-in-law

00:20:08.500 and different people

00:20:09.200 that, you know,

00:20:10.620 work in the oil field

00:20:11.400 and none of them are working.

00:20:12.940 It needs to be changed.

00:20:14.480 We need a pipeline

00:20:15.280 and that's why we're here.

00:20:16.780 You know what?

00:20:17.220 We're just standing up

00:20:18.040 for Canada

00:20:18.520 and for what's right

00:20:19.460 and, you know,

00:20:20.840 we want to show our support.

00:20:22.160 We can't go all the way

00:20:23.040 but we're doing what we can.

00:20:24.540 What's your mission?

00:20:25.400 What do you want?

00:20:26.000 What's a win for you guys?

00:20:28.540 Get Trudeau out of the government.

00:20:31.200 At the outside of this convoy,

00:20:32.780 the RCMP counted

00:20:33.580 160 trucks

00:20:34.980 headed to Calgary

00:20:35.960 from Red Deer.

00:20:36.880 The convoy lost a few

00:20:37.760 in Alberta,

00:20:38.300 especially at the border,

00:20:39.160 but they also gained

00:20:40.140 a few in Saskatchewan

00:20:41.140 and it's leveled out

00:20:42.040 at about 70 trucks.

00:20:43.400 What I found unbelievable

00:20:45.460 on the first leg

00:20:46.400 of this trip

00:20:46.860 is the amount of support

00:20:47.820 that this convoy has

00:20:48.660 from everyday Albertans

00:20:49.920 and Saskatchewaners

00:20:50.860 lining up and down

00:20:52.240 the number one highway

00:20:53.080 wishing this convoy well.

00:20:54.760 It truly is a grassroots movement,

00:20:56.520 one that Canada 0.51

00:20:57.200 hasn't seen the likes of

00:20:58.320 in nearly a generation.

00:20:59.960 Actually,

00:21:00.420 now that I think about it,

00:21:01.280 not since the last Trudeau

00:21:02.800 was in power

00:21:03.360 has Western Canada

00:21:04.360 been so ready for revolt.

00:21:07.160 Well,

00:21:07.540 the Yellow Vesters 0.95

00:21:08.620 are heading their way

00:21:09.980 east all the way

00:21:11.400 to Ottawa

00:21:12.000 to knock on

00:21:12.960 the Prime Minister's door

00:21:14.000 and of course,

00:21:15.000 Kian Bexte

00:21:15.580 is embedded

00:21:16.820 in that group

00:21:18.020 and he joins me now.

00:21:19.760 Kian,

00:21:20.100 how are things

00:21:20.800 on the road?

00:21:22.780 Things are going great.

00:21:24.160 The fog just cleared

00:21:25.520 so I'm in the media bus

00:21:27.760 here with a few

00:21:28.460 other reporters

00:21:29.280 who are covering

00:21:30.200 the convoy.

00:21:31.400 It's pretty cold

00:21:32.520 but it looks like

00:21:33.980 we have a few more

00:21:35.740 people joining the convoy

00:21:36.620 here.

00:21:36.840 We just pulled over

00:21:37.600 at a truck stop

00:21:38.260 but that might put us

00:21:39.980 up at about

00:21:40.600 the 80 truck range.

00:21:42.400 So it looks like

00:21:43.660 a success so far

00:21:44.620 but there's about

00:21:45.620 2,500 kilometres

00:21:47.780 to go yet

00:21:48.500 so we'll still

00:21:49.680 have to see.

00:21:50.760 Fantastic.

00:21:51.420 And of course,

00:21:51.860 you're scheduled

00:21:52.340 to arrive on Tuesday,

00:21:53.820 I understand.

00:21:54.460 Is that correct?

00:21:56.620 Yes,

00:21:57.200 there's one day

00:22:00.000 that's reserved

00:22:01.220 in case we

00:22:03.180 are behind schedule

00:22:04.720 but Tuesday's the day

00:22:05.960 that there will be

00:22:06.880 a rally on Parliament Hill.

00:22:09.040 Fantastic.

00:22:09.840 Now,

00:22:10.140 Kian,

00:22:10.600 as you said,

00:22:11.280 you are on the media bus

00:22:12.780 and I was going to ask you

00:22:13.780 what is your take

00:22:15.560 so far

00:22:16.680 on the media coverage

00:22:17.940 and I ask that

00:22:18.860 because there was

00:22:19.420 a recent

00:22:20.200 CBC report

00:22:21.940 and I was

00:22:23.200 quite staggered

00:22:24.300 by it.

00:22:24.760 I mean,

00:22:25.100 you know,

00:22:25.420 the thrust

00:22:26.140 of the Yellow Vest

00:22:27.020 protests

00:22:27.500 is they want,

00:22:29.140 you know,

00:22:29.740 the construction equipment

00:22:31.000 in the ground,

00:22:32.120 they want pipelines

00:22:33.280 being developed,

00:22:34.140 they want to get

00:22:34.620 the oil to market,

00:22:35.780 that's what this

00:22:36.360 is all about

00:22:36.900 and the CBC twist

00:22:38.840 was that

00:22:39.940 this is,

00:22:41.120 you know,

00:22:41.560 a lot of this

00:22:42.620 is about xenophobia

00:22:43.900 and anti-Muslim sentiment

00:22:45.860 and it just had me

00:22:48.000 really shaking my head

00:22:49.660 because the people

00:22:51.140 I've seen

00:22:51.860 on this convoy,

00:22:53.180 that's not what

00:22:53.820 they're about,

00:22:54.480 Shirley.

00:22:56.160 Yeah,

00:22:56.800 this convoy

00:22:57.500 is about getting

00:22:58.360 shovels in the ground,

00:22:59.280 getting pipelines laid

00:23:00.280 so that Alberta

00:23:02.180 can get back to work.

00:23:03.220 That's what they want.

00:23:03.880 They don't want

00:23:04.360 bailouts,

00:23:05.840 they don't want

00:23:06.520 preferential treatment

00:23:07.560 from the government

00:23:08.440 like we're seeing

00:23:09.480 Trudeau give

00:23:10.220 SNC-Lavalin.

00:23:12.500 All they want

00:23:13.360 is to be treated

00:23:14.100 fairly

00:23:14.620 and that just means

00:23:15.840 getting Bill C-69

00:23:17.480 out of the way,

00:23:18.240 getting Bill C-48

00:23:19.200 out of the way.

00:23:20.180 I think this convoy

00:23:21.180 is united

00:23:21.660 in a lot of things.

00:23:22.960 It's united

00:23:23.360 in terms of pipelines

00:23:25.040 and oil and gas,

00:23:25.840 of course,

00:23:26.420 but when it comes

00:23:27.920 to the global

00:23:29.520 compact of migration

00:23:30.360 I don't think

00:23:30.820 anyone's a fan

00:23:31.560 but that certainly

00:23:32.680 isn't the main point

00:23:34.220 or the focal point

00:23:35.480 of this convoy.

00:23:36.260 The main point

00:23:36.820 is to make sure

00:23:37.520 that we can get

00:23:39.120 Alberta back to work 0.79

00:23:40.280 and back on its feet

00:23:41.560 so that we can continue

00:23:42.700 so that Alberta

00:23:43.780 can continue

00:23:44.460 to support

00:23:45.080 the rest of Canada.

00:23:46.400 And you know,

00:23:47.060 I'm glad you mentioned

00:23:47.980 SNC-Lavalin,

00:23:49.700 Kian,

00:23:49.980 because it seems

00:23:51.240 that the federal liberals

00:23:52.340 are doing

00:23:53.360 quite a bit

00:23:54.260 of tap dancing

00:23:55.160 to secure a deal

00:23:57.540 that may or may not

00:23:58.700 be illegal.

00:23:59.500 We'll have to see

00:23:59.960 as this,

00:24:00.480 you know,

00:24:01.980 saga proceeds.

00:24:04.200 But in the grand scheme

00:24:05.840 of things,

00:24:06.920 you know,

00:24:07.380 the billions of dollars

00:24:09.120 in,

00:24:10.120 you know,

00:24:11.500 wasted development

00:24:12.600 in Alberta

00:24:13.640 puts SNC-Lavalin

00:24:15.880 to shame

00:24:16.600 in terms of magnitude.

00:24:18.280 This is truly,

00:24:20.120 I would think,

00:24:21.260 where the federal government

00:24:22.680 should be diverting

00:24:24.140 its attention

00:24:24.860 and yet

00:24:25.520 they're not.

00:24:28.000 Yeah,

00:24:28.780 this convoy

00:24:30.020 and Albertans

00:24:30.680 in general

00:24:31.240 don't want

00:24:32.080 the federal government's money.

00:24:33.820 They don't want bailouts.

00:24:34.800 They don't want anything.

00:24:35.860 They just want the government

00:24:36.900 to get out of the way.

00:24:38.960 It seems like

00:24:40.160 it should be

00:24:40.860 an easy thing to do.

00:24:41.880 They just have to

00:24:42.960 get them to do nothing.

00:24:44.080 But,

00:24:44.380 you know,

00:24:45.740 when it comes to

00:24:46.540 Justin Trudeau,

00:24:47.600 nothing's going to stop him

00:24:49.400 trying to get in the way

00:24:50.780 of hard-working Albertans.

00:24:52.640 And tell me,

00:24:54.440 Kian,

00:24:54.660 I understand

00:24:55.360 there's rumours

00:24:56.280 that our good friends

00:24:58.260 Antifa

00:24:59.020 might be showing up

00:25:00.420 in Ottawa

00:25:00.900 on Tuesday.

00:25:02.120 I'm wondering

00:25:02.520 what angle

00:25:03.040 they're taking.

00:25:03.780 They're against

00:25:04.480 developing the economy.

00:25:06.200 They're against

00:25:06.680 pipelines now, too.

00:25:08.200 What's your take on this?

00:25:09.420 I don't know.

00:25:10.680 You know what,

00:25:11.340 Antifa,

00:25:12.580 you never know

00:25:13.640 what they're going to do.

00:25:14.440 But it certainly

00:25:16.160 is a concern

00:25:16.700 for this convoy.

00:25:17.500 Just as I was

00:25:18.080 leaving the hotel

00:25:18.800 this morning,

00:25:20.520 there was

00:25:21.060 two convoy members

00:25:23.620 outside the door

00:25:24.540 having a smoke

00:25:25.200 talking about

00:25:26.480 what they had heard

00:25:27.780 about Antifa.

00:25:28.480 They said that

00:25:28.900 they were going to be

00:25:29.760 parking their trucks

00:25:30.700 away from the convoy

00:25:32.060 every night

00:25:32.620 when they stopped

00:25:34.800 to sleep for the night

00:25:35.520 because Antifa

00:25:36.600 was rumoured

00:25:37.200 to be coming around

00:25:38.600 getting ready

00:25:39.380 to slash tires.

00:25:40.400 So there's certainly

00:25:41.640 people that are concerned

00:25:42.940 and they're expecting

00:25:44.620 it to get bad

00:25:45.780 in Ontario.

00:25:47.700 Antifa doesn't have

00:25:48.440 much of a presence

00:25:49.080 in Saskatchewan

00:25:49.800 or Manitoba.

00:25:52.100 Antifa's just not

00:25:53.040 really in western Canada

00:25:54.040 as much as they are

00:25:55.260 in Toronto area.

00:25:56.680 But once we get

00:25:57.220 to Arnpryor,

00:25:58.920 there might be some,

00:26:01.800 might get a little bit western

00:26:02.980 as Sheila Gunn-Reed says.

00:26:05.660 Well, you know,

00:26:06.480 slashing tires,

00:26:07.360 what an incredible way

00:26:08.360 to make a political point.

00:26:09.580 One last question,

00:26:11.200 Kian. 0.52

00:26:11.840 You, of course,

00:26:12.820 will be there on Tuesday

00:26:14.040 covering this protest

00:26:16.560 and we'll have to see

00:26:18.060 how it unfolds.

00:26:18.900 But I guess I'm asking you

00:26:20.660 a speculative question here.

00:26:23.280 There'll be a huge protest,

00:26:25.080 the likes of which

00:26:25.800 Ottawa has never seen.

00:26:27.500 I'm wondering,

00:26:28.500 at the end of the day

00:26:29.520 when all the noise

00:26:31.960 and hooting 0.95

00:26:32.520 and hollering is over,

00:26:34.200 will this amount

00:26:35.700 to anything

00:26:36.520 in terms of

00:26:37.800 a tangible

00:26:38.980 way in which

00:26:40.800 the government

00:26:41.280 is moving forward

00:26:42.940 on the whole

00:26:43.600 pipeline question?

00:26:45.760 I don't think

00:26:46.480 anything tangible

00:26:47.220 is going to happen

00:26:47.820 to the oil and gas industry

00:26:49.040 until Trudeau

00:26:49.780 is no longer

00:26:50.540 the Prime Minister

00:26:51.220 of Canada.

00:26:52.940 You know,

00:26:53.400 what...

00:26:54.320 Oh, sorry.

00:26:56.760 The new passenger

00:26:57.700 just turned the bus.

00:26:58.720 Sorry, there's a new problem.

00:27:00.640 You know,

00:27:01.300 like I said,

00:27:02.340 I don't think

00:27:03.040 much is going to change

00:27:04.280 until Trudeau

00:27:05.460 is no longer

00:27:06.240 Prime Minister.

00:27:06.720 He's stuck in his ways.

00:27:08.040 He hates Alberta.

00:27:08.820 He hates the oil

00:27:09.300 and gas industry.

00:27:11.160 And even a major

00:27:12.380 protest like this

00:27:13.280 isn't going to change

00:27:14.060 his mind.

00:27:15.280 His arrogance

00:27:16.180 is unmatched

00:27:18.140 and unparalleled

00:27:19.140 anywhere in Canada.

00:27:20.760 I'm not holding out hope,

00:27:22.340 but this convoy

00:27:23.520 certainly wants

00:27:24.820 to see that change.

00:27:26.320 Gotcha.

00:27:26.880 Well, who knows?

00:27:27.480 You might get your wish

00:27:28.380 in about nine months' time,

00:27:30.320 so we'll have to see

00:27:31.520 how that goes.

00:27:31.980 You never know

00:27:32.300 with the scandals

00:27:33.160 we're seeing right now

00:27:35.480 with Judy Raybould-Wilson.

00:27:37.160 You never know

00:27:37.620 how long Trudeau's

00:27:38.260 going to last.

00:27:38.940 Well, the timing

00:27:39.540 is perfect.

00:27:40.420 I've got to say that.

00:27:41.680 Kian, thank you so much

00:27:42.940 and stay safe

00:27:44.380 on Tuesday

00:27:44.900 as you cover this for us.

00:27:46.060 Thank you again.

00:27:47.800 For sure.

00:27:48.440 Take care.

00:27:49.640 Got it.

00:27:50.660 And more of

00:27:51.400 Rebel Roundup

00:27:51.900 to come, folks,

00:27:52.640 right after this.

00:27:53.400 Dale Osman

00:28:03.600 of Melville, Saskatchewan

00:28:05.360 likes his last name

00:28:06.760 and do you know what?

00:28:07.340 I totally understand this

00:28:08.620 because my last name

00:28:09.540 is pretty cool too.

00:28:11.640 Now, Osman

00:28:12.280 likes his last name

00:28:13.300 so much

00:28:13.860 that he really wants

00:28:14.780 to put it on

00:28:15.320 a vanity license plate,

00:28:17.140 but SGI,

00:28:18.960 Saskatchewan Government Insurance

00:28:20.420 says it's a no-go.

00:28:21.940 Why?

00:28:22.320 Because Osman 0.96

00:28:23.680 is spelled 0.91

00:28:24.740 Ass Man. 0.92

00:28:27.100 Thanks. 0.99

00:28:31.740 Ass Man? 1.00

00:28:33.600 No, no. 0.98

00:28:34.340 These don't belong to me.

00:28:35.420 I'm not the Ass Man.

00:28:36.580 I think there's been a mistake. 0.87

00:28:38.600 What's your name again?

00:28:39.780 Cosmo Kramer.

00:28:41.100 Cosmo Kramer. 1.00

00:28:42.440 You are the Ass Man. 0.99

00:28:45.660 No, I'm not the Ass Man. 0.99

00:28:47.820 Well,

00:28:48.880 as far as the state

00:28:50.680 of New York is concerned,

00:28:52.320 you are.

00:29:00.180 Yes,

00:29:01.220 Osman is really 0.99

00:29:02.220 the Ass Man. 0.99

00:29:03.860 Osman told CBC, 0.98

00:29:05.400 it's my last name,

00:29:06.500 I've always had it,

00:29:07.520 I'm not ashamed of it,

00:29:09.260 there's nothing bad about it.

00:29:11.340 But,

00:29:11.880 echoing the Manitoba

00:29:13.000 government's banning

00:29:14.020 of the Star Trek-inspired

00:29:15.780 Assimilate license plate,

00:29:17.700 SGI said the spelling

00:29:19.600 of Osman's name

00:29:20.820 could be misread

00:29:21.920 and cause offence

00:29:23.360 to other drivers.

00:29:25.020 Well,

00:29:26.240 there you have it folks.

00:29:27.500 According to the tall

00:29:28.620 forehead bureaucrats

00:29:29.940 running the Saskatchewan

00:29:31.280 car insurance racket,

00:29:32.620 the mere sight of a plate

00:29:34.620 stating Ass Man

00:29:36.040 might lead to carnage

00:29:37.840 on the highways

00:29:38.580 and byways

00:29:39.340 of Saskatoon

00:29:40.380 and Regina.

00:29:42.100 I said Regina,

00:29:43.400 by the way.

00:29:44.340 But is this much ado

00:29:45.960 over nothing,

00:29:47.060 especially given that

00:29:48.280 this is the actual spelling

00:29:49.780 of the surname

00:29:50.660 for the man

00:29:51.860 applying for the plate?

00:29:53.640 And with more

00:29:54.240 on this story

00:29:55.240 of censorship

00:29:56.220 run amok

00:29:57.060 is the host

00:29:57.920 of the gun show,

00:29:58.840 Sheila Gunn-Reed.

00:29:59.660 Welcome to Rebel Roundup,

00:30:00.680 my friend.

00:30:01.900 Hey David,

00:30:02.420 thanks for having me on.

00:30:03.320 Always a pleasure.

00:30:04.340 So Sheila,

00:30:05.260 I get it

00:30:06.020 that there is a line

00:30:07.420 in the sand

00:30:08.040 when it comes to

00:30:08.900 state-sanctioned

00:30:09.980 vanity plates.

00:30:11.080 You know,

00:30:11.440 I get it

00:30:12.240 that it would be vulgar

00:30:13.300 to have a plate

00:30:14.080 displaying the F-bomb

00:30:15.560 or the N-word, 0.97

00:30:17.120 but Ass Man, 1.00

00:30:18.020 I mean, 0.94

00:30:18.280 come on,

00:30:18.700 as you showed

00:30:19.240 in your commentary,

00:30:20.540 this was the plot line

00:30:21.960 for a primetime

00:30:23.020 network sitcom

00:30:23.960 that ran way back

00:30:25.160 in the 90s.

00:30:26.820 Yeah,

00:30:27.260 a really tame

00:30:28.240 primetime network sitcom,

00:30:30.360 by the way.

00:30:31.740 But,

00:30:32.180 like,

00:30:32.680 David Assman,

00:30:34.000 he's the hero

00:30:34.800 we need right now

00:30:35.860 because he is really

00:30:37.980 just this

00:30:38.880 severely normal

00:30:41.000 Saskatchewan guy

00:30:41.940 like I think

00:30:42.680 Saskatchewan men

00:30:43.460 tend to be,

00:30:44.620 and he's just

00:30:45.160 sort of had it.

00:30:46.120 He said that

00:30:47.620 whether or not

00:30:48.820 he's going to get

00:30:49.980 his license plate,

00:30:51.180 his vehicle

00:30:51.860 is going to say 0.59

00:30:52.600 Ass Man 0.68

00:30:53.160 whether the government

00:30:53.940 likes it or not,

00:30:54.880 and apparently

00:30:55.420 now it does.

00:30:56.580 Like,

00:30:56.780 he said,

00:30:57.900 even if it wasn't

00:30:58.820 his last name,

00:31:00.060 who is really

00:31:00.940 going to be hurt

00:31:01.760 by having that

00:31:02.660 on his vehicle?

00:31:03.340 So now,

00:31:04.140 he's painted

00:31:04.840 the tailgate

00:31:05.760 of his truck

00:31:06.640 to match,

00:31:08.080 to basically

00:31:08.880 look exactly

00:31:10.020 like a big,

00:31:11.800 huge Saskatchewan

00:31:13.380 license plate,

00:31:14.200 and it says 0.87

00:31:14.680 Ass Man 0.68

00:31:15.140 across the back, 0.83

00:31:15.800 and I love

00:31:16.380 this guy's style.

00:31:17.800 That's great,

00:31:18.600 and you know,

00:31:19.080 I mean,

00:31:19.700 and this isn't the first,

00:31:20.700 I mean,

00:31:21.060 you alluded to

00:31:21.960 in Manitoba

00:31:22.700 that ludicrous story

00:31:24.060 of a,

00:31:24.740 I think about

00:31:25.420 two years ago,

00:31:26.600 the fellow

00:31:27.100 who had

00:31:27.480 Assimilate,

00:31:28.260 he's a Star Trek fan,

00:31:29.960 and this was

00:31:30.820 a Borg catchphrase,

00:31:33.020 and somehow

00:31:33.500 some bureaucrat

00:31:34.520 thought this was

00:31:35.500 about,

00:31:36.160 you know,

00:31:36.800 the white man

00:31:38.460 assimilating the natives, 0.74

00:31:40.040 and then you had

00:31:40.900 out on the East Coast

00:31:42.020 a guy who had

00:31:43.300 the last name Grabber,

00:31:45.100 and his surname

00:31:46.440 was denied

00:31:47.300 because,

00:31:48.420 you know,

00:31:48.940 in this

00:31:49.340 Me Too era,

00:31:50.840 that was suggesting

00:31:51.920 people go out

00:31:53.080 and grab a female. 1.00

00:31:55.280 Now,

00:31:55.520 I would say,

00:31:56.240 Sheila,

00:31:56.620 that if you look

00:31:57.420 at a license plate

00:31:58.320 with the word

00:31:58.920 Grabber on it,

00:31:59.980 and you go out 0.74

00:32:01.060 and molest somebody, 0.86

00:32:02.780 it's not the plate's

00:32:03.740 problem,

00:32:04.280 you have a problem.

00:32:06.420 Well,

00:32:07.020 yeah,

00:32:07.380 I mean,

00:32:07.800 especially in the

00:32:08.540 Manitoba case,

00:32:10.180 Indigenous activists,

00:32:12.460 busybodies,

00:32:13.240 not regular

00:32:13.900 Indigenous people,

00:32:14.980 of course,

00:32:15.900 they weren't even

00:32:16.920 offended until the

00:32:18.100 guy started fighting

00:32:18.940 with the government

00:32:19.520 about it.

00:32:19.980 They didn't know,

00:32:21.040 they didn't care,

00:32:21.960 it wasn't on

00:32:22.400 anybody's radar

00:32:23.180 until it became

00:32:25.300 an issue of,

00:32:26.580 I suppose,

00:32:27.680 free speech,

00:32:28.360 but, like,

00:32:28.880 with Saskatchewan,

00:32:30.800 what's most

00:32:32.600 offensive to me

00:32:33.380 here is not

00:32:34.220 that this guy 0.99

00:32:35.080 wants ass man 1.00

00:32:36.260 on his license plate. 0.99

00:32:37.460 I think that's

00:32:38.000 sort of a conversation

00:32:38.780 starter in the

00:32:39.460 Canadian Tire

00:32:39.940 parking lot.

00:32:40.540 It's the fact

00:32:42.460 that in Saskatchewan,

00:32:45.260 the government

00:32:45.860 licensing agency,

00:32:47.640 so the Crown

00:32:48.340 Corporation in

00:32:49.360 Saskatchewan,

00:32:50.480 is paying people

00:32:51.740 to make probably

00:32:52.960 $100,000 a year,

00:32:54.500 these are government

00:32:55.200 workers,

00:32:55.780 so full benefits,

00:32:57.060 to decide what's

00:32:58.200 offensive or

00:32:59.520 potentially offensive

00:33:00.440 to people on the

00:33:01.440 road,

00:33:01.740 and I've never

00:33:02.780 in my entire life

00:33:04.240 looked at a

00:33:04.940 license plate,

00:33:05.520 or,

00:33:05.580 you know what,

00:33:06.240 this is Alberta,

00:33:07.220 we get some pretty

00:33:07.880 crude things on our

00:33:09.160 bumper stickers,

00:33:10.140 especially these

00:33:11.020 days,

00:33:11.540 with regard to

00:33:12.680 Rachel Notley

00:33:13.260 and Justin Trudeau,

00:33:14.320 but I never think,

00:33:15.340 holy smokes,

00:33:15.920 that's so offensive,

00:33:16.620 I better put my

00:33:17.200 car in the ditch.

00:33:18.040 I just,

00:33:19.020 I don't know

00:33:20.020 what sort of world

00:33:21.100 these people are

00:33:21.920 living in.

00:33:22.700 Either do I,

00:33:23.720 Sheila,

00:33:23.920 and I find it

00:33:24.540 perverse that

00:33:25.240 there are

00:33:25.580 government bureaucrats

00:33:26.740 that are in the

00:33:28.080 department of funny.

00:33:29.940 I mean,

00:33:30.560 that is so not

00:33:31.840 what a government

00:33:32.680 bureaucrat is about,

00:33:34.640 and that they have

00:33:35.440 this...

00:33:35.780 I can't think of

00:33:36.500 anything more unfunny

00:33:37.220 than a government

00:33:38.120 bureaucrat.

00:33:39.160 And you know,

00:33:39.780 Sheila,

00:33:39.940 you showed a,

00:33:42.240 it was a list

00:33:43.800 of words

00:33:45.020 that have been

00:33:45.780 banned as

00:33:47.160 vanity plates,

00:33:47.840 and I did a

00:33:49.420 screen capture of it

00:33:50.860 because I wanted to

00:33:51.480 read through them.

00:33:52.180 Now,

00:33:52.360 some of them were

00:33:52.820 pretty vulgar terms,

00:33:53.780 I get that,

00:33:54.400 but I was looking

00:33:55.280 at other things,

00:33:56.160 like meat.

00:33:58.340 I mean,

00:33:59.040 Saskatchewan

00:34:00.060 is a province

00:34:01.300 where there's a big

00:34:02.160 beef cattle industry.

00:34:03.600 I mean,

00:34:04.220 meat is somehow

00:34:05.180 offensive.

00:34:06.600 Sinbin,

00:34:07.040 sinbin is just

00:34:08.140 another name

00:34:08.960 for the penalty

00:34:10.040 box.

00:34:10.980 You know,

00:34:11.200 that's what we

00:34:11.620 used to call it

00:34:12.180 in hockey.

00:34:12.840 And number

00:34:13.760 three,

00:34:14.720 roadkill.

00:34:15.820 I mean,

00:34:16.240 for goodness

00:34:16.680 sakes,

00:34:17.420 roadkill is a

00:34:18.120 fact of life.

00:34:18.800 Sometimes,

00:34:19.580 unfortunately,

00:34:20.700 we're the

00:34:21.160 authors of

00:34:21.740 roadkill

00:34:22.160 when a

00:34:22.740 critter runs

00:34:23.340 in front of

00:34:23.800 our vehicles.

00:34:24.240 who is offended

00:34:25.680 by roadkill

00:34:26.740 sinbin and

00:34:27.680 meat,

00:34:28.340 Sheila?

00:34:29.540 Well,

00:34:29.900 the same

00:34:30.620 government

00:34:31.300 rubber stamper

00:34:32.580 who's also

00:34:33.260 offended by

00:34:33.900 the word

00:34:34.300 udder.

00:34:35.180 Like,

00:34:35.480 what if that's

00:34:36.300 a dairy farmer

00:34:37.320 who wants to

00:34:38.280 put the word

00:34:38.740 udder on their

00:34:39.520 plate?

00:34:40.380 No buns.

00:34:41.460 I don't know

00:34:41.900 who that's

00:34:42.480 offensive to.

00:34:43.340 Gluten intolerant

00:34:44.620 people?

00:34:45.120 I don't understand

00:34:46.140 who they're being

00:34:47.300 offended on behalf

00:34:48.400 of.

00:34:48.820 I mean,

00:34:49.080 there's even

00:34:49.660 like one

00:34:50.320 obviously Chinese

00:34:51.940 last name,

00:34:52.780 W-H-A-N-G, 1.00

00:34:55.360 who got

00:34:56.160 banned too

00:34:57.080 because it

00:34:57.580 would depend

00:34:58.100 if you didn't

00:34:58.880 understand that

00:34:59.560 was a Chinese

00:35:00.220 last name.

00:35:02.020 Look,

00:35:03.380 I'm a practicing

00:35:04.120 Catholic,

00:35:04.860 but I'm not

00:35:05.500 a prude.

00:35:06.660 You know,

00:35:07.200 like,

00:35:07.440 I'm a deeply

00:35:08.700 flawed person.

00:35:09.960 I'm not a prude.

00:35:10.980 I try not to

00:35:11.760 take the Lord's

00:35:12.380 name in vain.

00:35:13.080 I'm starting to

00:35:13.740 see Satan at

00:35:14.440 work in a lot

00:35:15.020 of things these

00:35:15.640 days,

00:35:16.100 but even I

00:35:17.360 think this is 0.93

00:35:18.760 utterly ridiculous. 0.99

00:35:20.560 Utterly. 0.98

00:35:21.620 Oh,

00:35:22.240 good plan.

00:35:22.640 One word,

00:35:23.060 Sheila.

00:35:23.480 Thank you.

00:35:24.780 Again,

00:35:25.320 it ties into

00:35:25.960 what we've

00:35:26.340 discussed on

00:35:26.900 this show

00:35:27.240 before,

00:35:27.740 that you

00:35:28.520 do not

00:35:29.260 have the

00:35:29.780 right not

00:35:30.860 to be

00:35:31.440 offended.

00:35:32.480 And in

00:35:33.320 that vein,

00:35:34.000 Sheila,

00:35:34.340 I thought

00:35:35.020 you did

00:35:35.360 a very

00:35:36.580 brilliant

00:35:37.580 thing in

00:35:38.340 your commentary,

00:35:38.900 which was

00:35:39.660 you looked

00:35:40.360 at certain

00:35:41.080 Saskatchewan

00:35:42.300 place names,

00:35:43.500 including

00:35:44.020 Climax and

00:35:45.780 Big Beaver,

00:35:47.180 which I bet

00:35:48.160 you if you

00:35:49.000 asked to put

00:35:49.840 on a plate

00:35:50.460 in Saskatchewan,

00:35:51.320 those would

00:35:52.100 be rejected.

00:35:53.740 So,

00:35:54.240 A,

00:35:54.480 we have a

00:35:54.840 double standard,

00:35:55.660 and B,

00:35:56.200 when or when

00:35:56.860 is the government

00:35:57.360 of Saskatchewan

00:35:58.200 going to rename

00:35:59.500 Climax and Big

00:36:00.760 Beaver so that

00:36:01.700 people,

00:36:02.980 these snowflakes out

00:36:04.480 there that get

00:36:04.920 offended over

00:36:05.520 everything,

00:36:06.160 won't get offended

00:36:06.900 by these towns?

00:36:07.780 Well,

00:36:09.040 yeah,

00:36:09.220 and there's a

00:36:09.640 whole other

00:36:10.620 double standard,

00:36:11.480 because I

00:36:11.880 discovered that

00:36:12.500 one guy who

00:36:13.200 got Trump's

00:36:14.640 late-night

00:36:15.120 typo,

00:36:16.080 Covfefe,

00:36:17.080 put on his

00:36:17.780 plate,

00:36:18.220 and he very

00:36:18.880 clearly admitted

00:36:19.800 that despite

00:36:20.760 the regulations

00:36:21.540 in Saskatchewan

00:36:22.980 against it,

00:36:23.520 he was making

00:36:24.180 a political

00:36:24.700 statement about

00:36:25.340 the state of

00:36:25.840 affairs in the

00:36:26.480 United States,

00:36:27.240 but he got

00:36:28.140 to put it

00:36:28.600 on there.

00:36:29.560 So,

00:36:30.160 I think there

00:36:30.680 is a little

00:36:31.300 bit of a

00:36:32.000 double standard

00:36:33.000 happening all

00:36:34.060 over the place,

00:36:35.160 but moreover,

00:36:37.060 I actually don't

00:36:38.040 think the

00:36:38.640 government

00:36:38.980 bureaucrats

00:36:39.560 working in a

00:36:40.220 cubicle in

00:36:40.760 Regina have

00:36:42.580 actually spent

00:36:43.580 a lot of time

00:36:44.240 talking to

00:36:44.840 normal Saskatchewan

00:36:45.720 people,

00:36:46.080 because they

00:36:46.460 really don't

00:36:46.960 care about

00:36:47.380 this kind of

00:36:47.860 stuff,

00:36:48.240 and I think

00:36:48.740 they don't

00:36:49.060 take themselves

00:36:49.600 all that

00:36:50.000 seriously anyway,

00:36:51.020 so I think

00:36:51.920 that there are

00:36:52.600 a whole host

00:36:53.240 of overpaid

00:36:53.900 government

00:36:54.400 bureaucrats who

00:36:55.600 probably should

00:36:56.620 be laid off,

00:36:57.320 or at least

00:36:58.020 they need to

00:36:58.460 get over

00:36:58.780 themselves.

00:36:59.980 Well,

00:37:00.160 Sheila,

00:37:00.500 I hope Mr.

00:37:01.180 Osman has 0.97

00:37:02.440 success in his

00:37:03.660 fight against

00:37:04.340 the government.

00:37:04.800 I stand in

00:37:05.820 solidarity with

00:37:06.560 him,

00:37:06.680 and I say

00:37:07.000 that because,

00:37:07.920 as you know,

00:37:08.900 there are,

00:37:09.380 you know,

00:37:09.600 three types of

00:37:10.400 men.

00:37:10.800 There's,

00:37:11.140 you know,

00:37:11.420 leg men,

00:37:12.360 boob men, 1.00

00:37:13.060 and ass men. 1.00

00:37:14.540 I think I'm 1.00

00:37:15.240 an ass man 0.99

00:37:15.800 because, 1.00

00:37:16.200 you know,

00:37:16.380 Sheila,

00:37:16.660 everywhere I

00:37:17.180 go,

00:37:17.440 people are

00:37:17.820 saying to

00:37:18.160 me,

00:37:18.480 hey,

00:37:18.720 menzoid, 0.98

00:37:19.220 you're an 1.00

00:37:19.520 ass man. 1.00

00:37:21.920 That was a 0.99

00:37:22.640 joke.

00:37:23.620 Was it?

00:37:25.760 Completely

00:37:26.160 unfunny in

00:37:26.940 Saskatchewan and

00:37:27.860 probably Alberta.

00:37:29.000 Anyways,

00:37:29.500 I better wrap it

00:37:30.300 here before I

00:37:30.940 really get into

00:37:31.600 trouble with the

00:37:32.520 powers that be

00:37:33.360 here.

00:37:33.600 Sheila,

00:37:34.340 thanks again for

00:37:35.080 another brilliant

00:37:35.760 commentary and for

00:37:37.860 making me laugh yet

00:37:38.720 again.

00:37:39.780 Yeah,

00:37:40.040 I would say don't

00:37:40.580 quit your day job,

00:37:41.340 but this is your

00:37:41.960 day job.

00:37:43.140 Have a great

00:37:43.700 weekend,

00:37:44.180 menzoid.

00:37:44.740 You too,

00:37:45.460 then,

00:37:45.780 Sheila.

00:37:46.340 And that was

00:37:46.960 Sheila Gunn-Reed

00:37:47.840 in Alberta.

00:37:48.620 Keep it here,

00:37:49.060 folks.

00:37:49.400 More of Rebel

00:37:49.880 Roundup to come

00:37:50.600 right after this.

00:37:51.660 Oh, it's just so

00:38:01.320 beautifully ironic,

00:38:02.560 isn't it?

00:38:03.220 Hollywood, which

00:38:04.080 loves to position

00:38:04.900 itself as equal

00:38:05.880 parts courageous and

00:38:07.520 rebellious, has

00:38:09.000 thrown in the towel

00:38:10.020 when it comes to

00:38:10.980 selecting a host for

00:38:12.200 this year's Oscars

00:38:13.440 telecast.

00:38:14.800 Yeah, it just looks

00:38:15.900 like there was simply

00:38:16.920 nobody available in

00:38:18.520 Tinseltown who could

00:38:20.240 crack jokes while at

00:38:21.760 the same time being

00:38:23.760 sensitive and

00:38:25.060 politically correct.

00:38:26.920 Or maybe the

00:38:28.160 number of worthy

00:38:28.980 candidates looked at

00:38:30.240 the Oscars hosting

00:38:31.320 gig and thought,

00:38:32.360 hmm, do I really

00:38:33.720 need this aggro?

00:38:35.040 If I make one

00:38:36.020 little slip up,

00:38:37.000 if I make one

00:38:37.920 quip deemed to be

00:38:39.020 transphobic or

00:38:40.180 Islamophobic or 0.84

00:38:41.320 phobic-phobic,

00:38:42.860 well, the social

00:38:44.120 media universe will

00:38:45.120 go supernova and

00:38:46.320 there will be calls

00:38:47.040 for boycotts and

00:38:48.040 apologies, so,

00:38:49.080 eh, no thanks.

00:38:50.240 Thus, the Oscars

00:38:52.560 will actually be

00:38:53.880 host-free this

00:38:55.260 year.

00:38:56.360 Now, the most

00:38:56.880 recent Oscars

00:38:58.020 fiasco started a

00:38:59.280 few months ago when

00:39:00.180 comedian Kevin

00:39:01.020 Hart was offered

00:39:02.560 the hosting gig,

00:39:04.120 but then some

00:39:05.120 thought police

00:39:06.020 sleuths, well,

00:39:06.920 they discovered a

00:39:07.800 routine Hart

00:39:08.560 performed a

00:39:09.280 decade ago that

00:39:10.760 was allegedly

00:39:11.420 homophobic.

00:39:13.080 And even though

00:39:13.800 Hart doesn't do

00:39:14.800 that routine

00:39:15.420 anymore and has

00:39:16.680 apologized and

00:39:18.640 says he's a

00:39:19.280 changed man,

00:39:20.240 well, sorry

00:39:21.300 Kevin, while we

00:39:22.760 might give

00:39:23.240 murderers and

00:39:24.140 terrorists second 0.90

00:39:24.940 chances, if you

00:39:26.360 commit the crime of

00:39:27.400 political

00:39:27.780 incorrectness, you

00:39:28.920 are, um, what

00:39:30.640 was the name of

00:39:31.320 that 1992 Oscar

00:39:33.080 winning western

00:39:33.860 again?

00:39:34.600 Oh, yeah,

00:39:35.660 Unforgiven.

00:39:36.440 Gee, for an

00:39:38.080 industry that has

00:39:39.060 long self-congratulated

00:39:41.300 itself for its

00:39:42.280 alleged bravery and

00:39:43.860 fearlessness, the

00:39:45.580 Oscars has really

00:39:46.880 chickened out when it

00:39:48.180 comes to the hosting

00:39:49.600 gig this year.

00:39:50.920 After all, in this

00:39:52.040 day and age in which

00:39:53.060 the usual suspects

00:39:54.160 are offended by

00:39:55.840 imaginary things, who

00:39:57.980 needs the hassle of

00:39:59.060 doing damage control

00:40:00.240 and stating endless

00:40:02.100 mea culpas in the

00:40:03.720 aftermath of outrage

00:40:05.260 over nothing.

00:40:07.360 And so it is that

00:40:08.180 the Oscars will

00:40:09.020 actually be host-free

00:40:10.560 this year.

00:40:11.640 As they say in

00:40:12.580 Tinseltown, that's

00:40:14.420 entertainment.

00:40:15.800 Not.

00:40:16.740 In any event, here's

00:40:18.180 what some of you had

00:40:19.100 to say about the

00:40:19.840 Academy Awards waving

00:40:21.520 the white flag of

00:40:22.540 surrender when it

00:40:23.840 comes to having a

00:40:24.880 host.

00:40:26.080 Jinx Mim writes,

00:40:27.340 Political correctness

00:40:28.580 and Trump derangement

00:40:30.180 syndrome has taken a

00:40:31.800 terrible toll on

00:40:32.900 Hollywood altogether.

00:40:34.600 All of the late

00:40:35.200 night shows hosts 1.00

00:40:36.260 suck. 1.00

00:40:37.260 Now that they can do 1.00

00:40:38.480 nothing but rant about

00:40:39.840 how they hate Trump,

00:40:41.560 celebrities still have

00:40:42.680 no idea how out of

00:40:44.620 touch they are with

00:40:45.580 everyday people in

00:40:46.740 regard to Trump and

00:40:48.260 their insane PC

00:40:49.800 standards.

00:40:51.020 Well, you are right,

00:40:52.460 Jinx, the endless

00:40:53.280 pandering to special

00:40:55.020 interest groups, the

00:40:56.380 endless attacks on

00:40:57.800 the president, it's

00:40:59.340 all amounted to so

00:41:00.440 much white noise.

00:41:01.920 Can I still use that

00:41:03.100 term, by the way?

00:41:04.160 And people are tuning

00:41:06.000 out en masse.

00:41:08.000 So much of what one

00:41:09.360 sees on TV now is

00:41:11.080 leftists making

00:41:12.180 programming for other

00:41:14.360 leftists.

00:41:15.400 And in the meantime,

00:41:16.780 the ratings are taking

00:41:18.280 a nosedive.

00:41:20.100 Cliff Ryden writes,

00:41:21.720 Don't care, haven't

00:41:22.760 watched them for a

00:41:23.620 decade.

00:41:24.500 Oh, and you're not

00:41:25.000 the only one, Cliff,

00:41:25.820 and just check out

00:41:27.020 those plunging ratings.

00:41:28.440 I remember back in

00:41:29.400 the day, tuning into

00:41:30.600 the Oscars, it was all

00:41:31.740 about entertainment.

00:41:33.800 Today, it's all about

00:41:34.960 hearing one-sided

00:41:36.140 political lectures.

00:41:38.040 Like yourself, I have

00:41:39.760 much better things to

00:41:40.720 do with my time on a

00:41:41.800 Sunday night.

00:41:44.000 JG32 writes, we need

00:41:45.840 Trey Parker and Matt

00:41:47.100 Stone.

00:41:47.720 Oh, could you imagine?

00:41:49.860 I think most of the

00:41:50.840 assembled guests at the

00:41:51.980 Oscars would end up

00:41:53.300 going into a coma if

00:41:54.680 those two got their way 1.00

00:41:55.760 on the podium.

00:41:57.060 What an inspired choice,

00:41:58.520 JG32.

00:41:59.480 But the Hollywood elite,

00:42:00.820 such as Barbara 0.97

00:42:01.580 Streisand, well, they

00:42:03.620 would never allow it.

00:42:05.460 And Bass Cannon, Jake

00:42:06.960 2, writes, politically

00:42:08.560 correct and sensitive or

00:42:11.200 funny.

00:42:12.400 You know, you're right,

00:42:13.100 Jake.

00:42:13.400 I don't think comedy is

00:42:15.420 compatible with political

00:42:17.140 correctness.

00:42:17.760 I think the very best

00:42:19.320 comedy by definition is

00:42:21.260 politically incorrect.

00:42:23.160 But we now must kowtow to

00:42:25.500 the uber-sensitive

00:42:26.440 snowflakes out there.

00:42:28.260 And yes, everything that

00:42:29.660 was once entertaining is

00:42:31.760 now being ruined in the

00:42:33.040 process.

00:42:34.180 Yep, that's

00:42:34.900 entertainment indeed.

00:42:36.600 Well, that wraps up

00:42:37.780 another edition of Rebel

00:42:39.600 Roundup.

00:42:40.100 Thanks so much for joining

00:42:41.040 us.

00:42:41.340 See you next week.

00:42:42.140 And hey, folks, never

00:42:42.960 forget, without risk, there

00:42:45.180 can be no glory.

00:42:46.080 Good night.
