00:01:23.460 You're listening to Rebel News Podcast.

00:01:33.600 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, ladies and gentlemen, and the rest of you,

00:01:37.260 in which we look back at some of the very best commentaries of the week by your favorite Rebels.

00:01:42.600 I'm your host, David Menzies.

00:01:44.460 So much for the tagline, beautiful British Columbia.

00:01:48.880 Oh yeah, the gorgeous mountains and the magnificent Pacific Ocean.

00:01:52.500 They're still mainstays on Canada's left coast, but so too these days are filthy tent cities. 1.00

00:01:59.520 Drea Humphrey visited one of the latest ones to pop up in Victoria, right near an elementary school.

00:02:06.260 And what a bad month for a good year.

00:02:10.200 No, not due to a tire recall, but rather thanks to the company implementing a discriminatory dress code

00:02:17.400 that was seemingly designed by uber-woke social justice warriors. 0.70

00:02:23.160 Andrew Chapados has plenty to say on this PR disaster.

00:02:27.700 And finally, letters. We get your letters. We get your letters every minute of every day.

00:02:32.700 And I'll share some of your responses regarding my report on Carol Jansen of Thunder Bay,

00:02:38.260 who allegedly got roughed up by security guards and was banned for life

00:02:43.300 when she visited the intercity shopping center.

00:02:47.460 Her crime being breaching Wuhan virus safety protocols? 0.61

00:02:52.440 Just while you hear this one, folks.

00:02:54.800 Those are your Rebels. Now let's round them up.

00:02:57.700 Many parents have been tasked with weighing the mental health pros for keeping their children in school this fall

00:03:08.440 against possible cons linked to the repetitive, worse-than-the-first-wave-of-COVID-19 warnings we've been getting.

00:03:15.740 But parents whose children attend South Park Elementary in Victoria, B.C.,

00:03:20.340 have a unique concern to weigh regarding the well-being of their children,

00:03:24.520 and that is the ever-growing tent city that's located directly across the street from their children's school.

00:03:32.380 Drea Humphrey here with Rebel News.

00:03:34.260 And this past weekend, I took a walk through Beacon Hill Park.

00:03:37.800 This beautiful park, which is described by Victoria.ca as the crowning jewel in Victoria's park system,

00:03:45.200 has become less popular for families to enjoy.

00:03:48.260 It's approximately 740,000 square metres of parkland is now being utilised as a tent city of over 100 homeless people.

00:03:58.420 According to Victoria.ca, a court order was granted to the city that required tent residents to be reallocated within the park.

00:04:06.500 While that was probably a step in the right direction, many feel it's not enough.

00:04:11.280 Concerns about both the threat of the preservation of the park and the safety of the surrounding citizens are still commonly expressed by many.

00:04:20.840 Stephen Andrew, a candidate running for Victoria City Council, told me that there is an increased police patrols in the park

00:04:28.360 due to reports of increased criminal activity in and around the park.

00:04:32.820 Many people reach out to him to say that they feel unsafe.

00:04:36.480 On August 20th, Czech News.ca reported that according to the police data calls,

00:04:42.580 reports of mischief, weapons, street violence and break-in enters in the downtown core are on the rise.

00:04:50.000 Another common concern when homeless encampments take over any public area

00:04:54.580 is the risk regarding improperly disposed needles,

00:04:58.620 especially given that this encampment is literally across the street from an elementary school like this one.

00:05:05.620 Global News reported that on August 23rd, Victoria Police issued a warning to the public

00:05:12.180 after a man walking through a trail at the park felt a pain in his foot

00:05:16.360 only to discover he had been poked by an uncapped needle.

00:05:21.180 Now, the city's mayor, Lisa Helps, sent a letter out to parents at South Park Elementary.

00:05:27.340 According to CTV News, Helps said that the encampment tents are not in an appropriate place

00:05:33.860 and that the city staff were drafting amendments to bylaws

00:05:37.940 that would prevent sheltering in tents near the school.

00:05:42.600 Now, with that said, many tax-paying residents are not holding their breath for Mayor Helps

00:05:48.100 and are losing faith in her, especially after Mayor Helps and other city council members

00:05:53.620 stood in favour of deferring enforcement of the 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. bylaw

00:05:59.380 that was designed to have the campers cleared out during the day.

00:06:03.740 Over 25,000 city residents who still have concerns for the rare and sensitive ecology in the park,

00:06:10.620 the safety for the local citizens, as well as who also wish to find an appropriate housing solution

00:06:17.560 for the homeless have come together to sign a petition to help save Beacon Park.

00:06:23.220 The petition states that the city of Victoria is actually breaking the law

00:06:29.260 regarding the establishing of a tent city at Beacon Hill Park.

00:06:34.260 Well, yet again, another tent city fiasco, and yet again, another failure on the behalf

00:06:40.280 of those in government who refuse to govern, and those in law enforcement who refuse to enforce the law.

00:06:46.720 And the end result? Law-abiding citizens suffer from enduring an eyesore occupied by potentially dangerous people.

00:06:56.580 Lovely.

00:06:57.860 And joining me now to discuss her latest descent into tent city madness, B.C. style, is Drea Humphrey.

00:07:04.920 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, Drea.

00:07:07.480 Hey, David. Hey, everyone.

00:07:09.000 So, Drea, why are these tent city people getting away with such lawlessness in the first place? 1.00

00:07:17.760 You know, that's a good question.

00:07:19.680 It's almost as if, in my opinion, that the powers that be, whether it be the mayor or the people voting,

00:07:26.800 are just, they're terrified to actually be stiff on the people in the encampments.

00:07:33.200 And I know it's a complicated situation, but in this last example, being right across the street from an elementary school

00:07:41.500 is just completely, completely inappropriate.

00:07:44.900 So, you have to be stiffer.

00:07:47.520 You know, I think you're right.

00:07:48.660 I think they are being driven by political correctness.

00:07:51.340 But at the same time, I think this is somewhat self-defeating in terms of just plain old-fashioned politics.

00:07:58.960 What I'm saying, Drea, is that I don't think the residents in tent cities are voting, right?

00:08:04.880 So, that the constituencies of these mayors, these council people,

00:08:10.840 they're the actual tax-paying citizens that are getting sick and tired of putting up with this.

00:08:16.820 So, you would think that would be impetus for them to do something constructive

00:08:21.360 for the people who are actually paying their salaries.

00:08:25.340 You would think.

00:08:26.620 I mean, a couple of people had mentioned that Mayor Health in Victoria, BC,

00:08:31.600 where this last tent city that I covered was,

00:08:34.280 had said when she first started that Victoria was too perfect.

00:08:38.040 So, they kind of made the joke that maybe this is just adding a little bit of spice.

00:08:42.460 But, yeah, we have a really big problem in BC with homelessness.

00:08:48.720 It's on the rise.

00:08:49.620 Our fatal overdoses continue to be the highest our province has seen.

00:08:54.320 So, there's a real big issue and people are dying and not finding homes

00:09:00.660 and other people are not comfortable walking in their own neighbourhoods,

00:09:04.380 even though they pay taxes.

00:09:06.100 Yeah, and, you know, let's talk about the danger aspect.

00:09:09.620 I mean, let's face it.

00:09:11.360 There are some mentally unstable people.

00:09:14.340 There are some drug addicts that are part of these encampments

00:09:18.000 and they've been known to act out violently.

00:09:21.080 Furthermore, Drea, when it comes to intravenous drug use, 0.56

00:09:25.340 aren't there reports in this neighbourhood of spent needles,

00:09:29.500 which, you know, God forbid, a child happens upon that?

00:09:32.760 And that's not a stretch because there's an elementary school nearby, isn't there?

00:09:37.620 There is.

00:09:38.400 It's right nearby.

00:09:39.780 And also, this time of year, there's people visiting that aren't aware

00:09:43.180 there's a tent city.

00:09:44.760 There is quite a large park, so you can enter on one end and not realise it

00:09:49.180 and walk through a trail and, oops, you have your kids with you.

00:09:52.440 And so, yeah, there was that gentleman who just was walking along on the trail

00:09:57.240 and Prick says, what?

00:09:59.320 On a used needle.

00:10:00.860 I mean, how horrifying.

00:10:02.960 That is horrifying.

00:10:03.820 And to me, it goes against what we've always been told by our public officials,

00:10:09.580 especially these days with the pandemic, Adria,

00:10:12.700 that public safety trumps everything.

00:10:16.080 You know, and some elected officials are actually using public safety

00:10:19.680 to trump constitutional rights and freedoms.

00:10:22.720 So why is it that with this kind of a health hazard,

00:10:26.520 and that's what this is, that the health advocates,

00:10:30.620 you know, the Department of Health aren't declaring an emergency

00:10:34.820 because that's what I think this is,

00:10:36.920 and shutting this down in the name of public health?

00:10:41.540 Well, apparently there are some sorts of advocates

00:10:45.120 and they are pro the encampment being there.

00:10:49.920 I know with my last tent city coverage,

00:10:51.920 there was the Indigenous leader advocates, whatever you want to call them.

00:10:56.800 And so I don't know where the other advocates are for the people.

00:11:01.040 The lady that I interviewed, Janice Williams,

00:11:03.300 she basically said, you know, the silent majority is they get in trouble for speaking out.

00:11:08.800 And this is something that we're seeing in Canada in kind of all aspects right now.

00:11:14.220 It's not just about tent cities.

00:11:16.440 It's pretty much if you're saying anything that isn't parroted in mainstream media,

00:11:21.180 then you're going to get some backlash.

00:11:24.240 And that's why it's so important for the silent majority to keep speaking up,

00:11:28.480 to say, no, this is how most of us think,

00:11:31.200 or this is how a lot of us think,

00:11:33.660 so that that cancel mob can't survive.

00:11:38.620 Yeah, no, that's a very good point.

00:11:39.900 And before we wrap up, Drea,

00:11:41.260 when she spoke about getting backlash,

00:11:44.080 is she talking about, I don't know, nasty comments online,

00:11:46.860 and to me, sticks and stones and all that?

00:11:48.880 Or was she actually talking about threats of physical violence,

00:11:52.260 people actually coming to our house to make a statement,

00:11:56.240 which to me is completely offside.

00:11:59.140 Where do you think she was going with that comment? 0.95

00:12:01.480 Well, I heard from her and another source

00:12:04.480 that the original lady who is a senior who started the petition, 0.92

00:12:10.360 I believe her name is Cynthia Dyadek,

00:12:12.560 she was actually threatened.

00:12:14.940 Somebody threatened to slit her throat as well as her dog's throat. 1.00

00:12:18.340 So, yeah, there's actual legitimate threats.

00:12:22.500 The crime has gone up.

00:12:24.360 Also, one of the security guards who didn't want to be on camera,

00:12:29.560 he said that they were there to help staff,

00:12:32.660 city staff, be escorted through the park.

00:12:35.520 So it's quite a scary place to be.

00:12:38.580 And you guys heard Giannis say the comments

00:12:41.980 about what the father and his daughter almost,

00:12:45.820 his daughter almost saw when he went to check out

00:12:48.200 the ladies' bathroom in the park there.

00:12:50.240 So that's terrifying.

00:12:51.280 That's something you can't unsee.

00:12:53.100 And I don't know, I do read the comments.

00:12:55.020 I don't usually comment back, but I do like reading them.

00:12:58.940 And someone hit it on the nail in the comments of that video.

00:13:02.420 They said they bet it was Jonathan Yaniv in there.

00:13:06.940 But, yeah, I mean...

00:13:09.420 Please, I scare easy.

00:13:10.500 Well, Drea, a great report on a terrible situation,

00:13:18.760 a terrible situation that exists, as far as I'm concerned,

00:13:21.740 because of a complete lack of political will

00:13:24.900 to do something constructive.

00:13:26.340 In the meantime, if I was living in this neighborhood,

00:13:28.840 I don't mean to be glib about this,

00:13:31.380 I'm probably buying some steel-toed boots

00:13:33.440 just so that I don't have a spent needle

00:13:36.360 pricking me in the foot.

00:13:38.600 What a horrible story that was.

00:13:40.000 So, once again, Drea, thanks so much for joining me today

00:13:42.800 on this important subject.

00:13:43.920 All right. Thanks, David. Bye, everyone.

00:13:46.180 You got it.

00:13:46.800 And that was Drea Humphrey in Vancouver.

00:13:49.400 Keep it here, folks.

00:13:50.420 More of Rebel Roundup to come right after this.

00:13:58.140 Goodyear Tires has apparently been caught lying

00:14:00.560 when they said their anti-MEGA policy going around online

00:14:03.660 didn't come from them at all.

00:14:05.920 After an anonymous whistleblower from Goodyear

00:14:07.720 released this image to the media,

00:14:09.620 showing that Black Lives Matter and LGBT pride attire

00:14:12.800 was acceptable,

00:14:13.700 but Blue Lives or All Lives Matter 0.99

00:14:15.480 and MAGA attire were unacceptable,

00:14:17.620 Twitter erupted at the double standard.

00:14:20.040 The employee said, quote,

00:14:21.280 The thing that we were given in the presentation

00:14:23.400 was from Akron, Ohio,

00:14:25.000 and we were told is for every Goodyear site,

00:14:27.400 whether it was a plant or store.

00:14:29.200 This even prompted President Trump

00:14:30.820 to chime in online on Twitter saying,

00:14:33.380 Don't buy Goodyear tires.

00:14:34.800 They announced a ban on MAGA hats.

00:14:36.800 Get better tires for far less.

00:14:38.540 This is what the radical left Democrats do.

00:14:40.660 Two can play the same game,

00:14:41.960 and we've got to start playing it now.

00:14:44.100 The president calling for a boycott

00:14:45.580 is a huge deal for a company,

00:14:47.460 so obviously Goodyear responded.

00:14:49.300 In their statement, the tire giant claimed,

00:14:51.880 The visual in question was not created

00:14:53.640 or distributed by Goodyear corporate,

00:14:55.920 nor was it a part of a diversity training class.

00:14:59.160 They continued,

00:15:00.080 We appreciate the diverse viewpoint

00:15:01.420 of all of our more than 60,000 associates.

00:15:04.060 We ask associates to not engage

00:15:05.920 in political campaigning of any kind

00:15:07.840 in the workplace for any candidate,

00:15:09.640 party, or political organization.

00:15:11.540 End quote.

00:15:12.320 Unfortunately for Goodyear,

00:15:13.860 there has been some leaked audio

00:15:15.340 from a meeting in Topeka, Kansas,

00:15:17.060 which pretty much says exactly

00:15:18.740 what the leaked photo said all along.

00:15:20.400 If you pride on their face covering shirts

00:15:22.360 or wristbands,

00:15:23.660 that will be deemed approved

00:15:25.420 because it complies with zero tolerance stamp.

00:15:29.440 However, if any associate wears

00:15:32.180 all blue, white Lives Matter shirts

00:15:36.780 for face covering,

00:15:38.740 that will be not appropriate.

00:15:40.840 And that's why you never show

00:15:42.460 all your cards right away.

00:15:44.400 So supporting BLM is okay.

00:15:46.800 Trump or police support

00:15:48.260 is not okay, according to Goodyear.

00:15:49.900 Even by their own statement,

00:15:51.780 Goodyear seems to think

00:15:52.580 that Black Lives Matter

00:15:53.480 is not a political statement

00:15:54.780 or organization,

00:15:56.300 but saying all lives

00:15:57.680 or blue Lives Matter is.

00:15:59.000 It's weird how that works.

00:16:00.220 It doesn't make any sense to me.

00:16:01.920 So is Goodyear lying

00:16:03.120 and just got caught?

00:16:04.760 Or are they completely clueless?

00:16:06.300 Or maybe is it a little bit of both?

00:16:08.360 Astonishing on so many levels.

00:16:10.840 First, a company picking and choosing

00:16:13.160 the proper politics and ideology

00:16:16.240 for its employees to support,

00:16:18.240 and then getting caught in a bold-faced lie,

00:16:22.000 and then doing some quick backtracking.

00:16:25.120 Well, sort of.

00:16:26.680 Joining me now with more on this sordid story

00:16:28.980 is Andrew Chapados.

00:16:30.740 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, my friend.

00:16:32.500 Thank you.

00:16:32.940 I believe this is my second appearance

00:16:34.460 on the coveted David Menzies Rebel Roundup.

00:16:37.700 Well, thank you so much.

00:16:39.300 I'm glad you could make an edu in.

00:16:41.640 Andrew, here's the thing.

00:16:43.440 Why in the world did Goodyear

00:16:45.940 wade into this PR fiasco?

00:16:49.760 I thought the idea of a tire company

00:16:53.040 is to make, market, and sell tires,

00:16:56.760 not to get involved in politics

00:16:59.120 in the first place.

00:17:00.040 What I find usually happens

00:17:01.660 is that there's got to be somebody

00:17:03.340 in the public relations department

00:17:05.000 or somewhere up there in Goodyear

00:17:07.120 where they've been on Twitter,

00:17:08.780 so they think that everyone supports

00:17:11.000 Black Lives Matter,

00:17:12.420 and it's a great marketing move

00:17:14.960 for them to say, this is great.

00:17:16.740 Everybody will join in,

00:17:18.120 and we'll all get along,

00:17:19.380 and we'll probably get more money

00:17:20.520 for supporting Black Lives Matter.

00:17:22.420 So somebody probably thought,

00:17:23.840 oh, it's a good idea.

00:17:24.740 It means no harm.

00:17:25.640 Everybody agrees with it.

00:17:26.660 Little do they know,

00:17:27.520 or maybe they do know.

00:17:28.640 I don't know.

00:17:29.160 That it is a political organization.

00:17:32.420 They need to stop pretending.

00:17:33.500 In their statement,

00:17:34.640 they say they don't allow employees

00:17:36.880 to wear stuff that supports

00:17:38.380 political groups or political candidates,

00:17:40.900 but that's exactly what Black Lives Matter is.

00:17:42.760 It's not a grassroots movement.

00:17:45.420 It's a well-funded organization,

00:17:47.620 and as everybody knows now,

00:17:49.340 their donations go to Democrat campaigns.

00:17:53.380 Yeah, and let's be very clear.

00:17:55.140 When you say Black Lives Matter 0.99

00:17:57.000 as a generic statement,

00:17:58.280 well, of course.

00:17:59.660 Every reasonable person agrees with that

00:18:01.580 as much as you'd agree

00:18:02.440 that white lives matter, 0.89

00:18:04.580 Asian lives matter,

00:18:06.020 Hindu lives matter,

00:18:07.140 however you want to frame it,

00:18:08.200 all lives matter,

00:18:09.200 but the actual organization,

00:18:11.260 this is something beholden

00:18:12.740 to Marxism, to anarchists.

00:18:16.260 It is a very odious,

00:18:18.640 anti-democratic organization.

00:18:20.620 It fuels itself on the violence

00:18:25.220 we see happening in so many American cities right now.

00:18:28.500 So the idea that, you know,

00:18:31.120 Goodyear was ostensibly saying,

00:18:33.680 or their executive team,

00:18:35.000 that this is just a statement of solidarity,

00:18:38.320 speaking out against racial inequity

00:18:41.140 and racial injustice,

00:18:42.620 no, it's not.

00:18:43.820 Well, that's what they do with everything.

00:18:45.280 Black Lives Matter,

00:18:46.020 you can't disagree with that,

00:18:47.460 and anti-fascists,

00:18:48.660 you can't disagree with that.

00:18:49.620 It goes right up to Women's March, 0.88

00:18:51.400 which is founded by a terrorist

00:18:53.720 amongst other people,

00:18:55.260 but one of them a terrorist looking up.

00:18:56.960 Speaking of Linda Sarsour?

00:18:58.240 No, there's another woman 1.00

00:18:59.620 who was a convicted terrorist.

00:19:01.080 She was a getaway driver in a terrorist act,

00:19:03.240 and she committed immigration fraud.

00:19:06.040 She's been since removed from the placards

00:19:08.740 on the Wikipedia page and everything.

00:19:10.560 Wow.

00:19:10.840 And then there's Children's March.

00:19:12.860 It's all just names to cover

00:19:14.700 for communism, essentially.

00:19:17.560 I mean, I hate to just be like,

00:19:18.740 because I'm so cut and dry like that,

00:19:20.940 because everything's either fascism

00:19:22.300 or communism now,

00:19:23.560 but this is what it is.

00:19:25.040 Black Lives Matter admits

00:19:26.600 that they're Marxist.

00:19:27.840 They have on their website

00:19:29.080 destroy the nuclear family unit.

00:19:31.640 They're obviously anti-police.

00:19:33.080 They want to defund police.

00:19:34.420 None of that gets mentioned.

00:19:36.660 It's just, it's a nice phrase, you guys.

00:19:38.760 You don't believe it?

00:19:39.800 Like the people in the restaurants,

00:19:41.040 raise your fist or we're going to yell at you 0.96

00:19:42.680 by some scrawny teenagers 0.99

00:19:44.640 who don't know what they're talking about.

00:19:46.400 Now, it should be noted, Andrew,

00:19:48.160 to Goodyear's CEO, Rich Kramer.

00:19:51.320 He said several days ago,

00:19:52.980 the company had clarified its policy

00:19:56.120 to make it clear that employees

00:19:58.020 can wear apparel expressing support

00:20:00.440 for law enforcement.

00:20:02.400 And of course, this is in reaction

00:20:05.040 to the boycott announced by President Trump.

00:20:08.480 That's serious stuff,

00:20:09.380 especially when your shares fall 6% overnight.

00:20:13.260 But missing from this

00:20:15.480 is whether an employee

00:20:17.600 can wear a MAGA hat or not.

00:20:19.840 Now, on the flip side,

00:20:22.240 Goodyear says it has a longstanding policy

00:20:24.140 of asking employees

00:20:25.340 of refraining from working place

00:20:28.160 expressions of support

00:20:29.320 for any political candidates.

00:20:31.300 Well, a MAGA hat

00:20:32.960 isn't a specific political candidate,

00:20:35.340 of course.

00:20:35.720 It's a political movement.

00:20:36.740 So, the retraction,

00:20:39.900 the clarification,

00:20:41.400 it's very hazy to me.

00:20:42.760 I'm not actually sure

00:20:43.960 if I work for Goodyear

00:20:45.120 what I can and cannot wear.

00:20:47.100 What do you make of this?

00:20:48.120 I would assume by the wording,

00:20:50.540 as you would with any lawyer's letter

00:20:52.360 or legal document like that,

00:20:53.640 when they say something like that,

00:20:55.020 when they're suggesting it,

00:20:56.300 it means that they can't force you.

00:20:57.960 We're thinking about suing you.

00:21:00.300 And I think what they would say

00:21:02.260 in the MAGA defense

00:21:03.880 or the point that you just made

00:21:05.660 is that they would argue,

00:21:07.200 well, obviously you support Trump

00:21:08.760 if you're a MAGA person,

00:21:09.980 but they wouldn't allow

00:21:11.100 such nuance on the other way.

00:21:13.020 They wouldn't allow you

00:21:13.920 to wear something else

00:21:15.120 and say, well,

00:21:15.860 this is obviously a DNC

00:21:17.520 or a communist thing.

00:21:18.940 I don't think they would allow

00:21:19.920 room for that argument

00:21:20.860 on the other side

00:21:21.880 because no one ever does.

00:21:23.560 And as an employer,

00:21:24.600 you do have the right

00:21:25.580 to implement dress code standards.

00:21:28.320 There's no question about that.

00:21:29.860 But you can't say,

00:21:31.480 well, this political movement,

00:21:32.720 this ideology, okay,

00:21:34.380 this one, not okay.

00:21:35.680 That is completely offside.

00:21:37.780 And, you know,

00:21:38.440 that's why I think

00:21:39.720 the president called

00:21:40.780 for the boycott.

00:21:41.600 And, you know,

00:21:41.900 the blowback, of course,

00:21:43.040 Andrew was saying,

00:21:44.040 hey, Goodyear's

00:21:44.980 an American company.

00:21:46.000 They're based in Akron, Ohio.

00:21:47.280 There's a plant there.

00:21:48.620 You know, with this kind

00:21:50.380 of a boycott,

00:21:51.480 Americans risk being thrown 1.00

00:21:52.800 out of work.

00:21:53.920 How dare, you know,

00:21:54.820 the president do this?

00:21:56.080 I say, no, no, no.

00:21:57.520 What these employees,

00:21:58.440 what these Goodyear tire dealers

00:22:00.160 should be doing

00:22:00.840 who might be hurting from this

00:22:02.800 is going to their executives,

00:22:05.060 you know,

00:22:05.420 at Goodyear Corporate

00:22:06.480 and going, 0.52

00:22:07.160 what the hell

00:22:07.760 were you guys thinking?

00:22:09.200 Well, yeah,

00:22:10.240 people could get other tires.

00:22:12.160 And the thing about this

00:22:13.140 is why they're

00:22:14.000 backtracking so much

00:22:15.060 is they have contracts

00:22:16.080 with tons of police departments.

00:22:17.640 And one of the quotes

00:22:19.360 from somebody

00:22:20.020 who represented,

00:22:21.040 I forget where,

00:22:22.060 police department,

00:22:23.100 they said,

00:22:24.520 you'll let our tires 0.71

00:22:25.600 wear down

00:22:26.980 by us protecting you, 0.99

00:22:28.380 but then you'll stab us 0.99

00:22:29.460 in the back

00:22:29.840 with these types of statements.

00:22:30.800 I'm paraphrasing.

00:22:31.520 That's essentially

00:22:32.020 what it was.

00:22:32.580 You could,

00:22:33.020 well, we're allowed

00:22:33.580 to use your tires,

00:22:34.420 but you won't publicly

00:22:35.520 endorse us, essentially.

00:22:37.140 And they're still pretending

00:22:38.360 Black Lives Matter

00:22:39.300 is not a political organization

00:22:40.540 in this statement.

00:22:41.520 You know, 0.92

00:22:41.920 and that is ludicrous. 0.80

00:22:43.040 And you raise 0.95

00:22:43.700 a good point, too.

00:22:44.540 Think of the thousands

00:22:47.260 and thousands

00:22:48.000 of American law enforcement

00:22:50.280 vehicles that are probably

00:22:52.480 a large chunk of them

00:22:53.940 buying Goodyear tires.

00:22:55.080 If you're in charge

00:22:56.000 of procurement

00:22:56.540 with a police force,

00:22:57.980 is Goodyear at the top

00:22:59.980 of your list right now?

00:23:00.820 Or maybe you're looking

00:23:01.500 at competitors

00:23:02.200 like Bridgestone and Toyo

00:23:03.660 and Hankook

00:23:04.300 and what have you.

00:23:05.140 They provide tires

00:23:06.760 for President Trump's

00:23:08.420 motorcade,

00:23:08.900 I'm pretty sure.

00:23:09.780 That's right.

00:23:10.380 They have in the past, yeah.

00:23:11.340 So how hard would it be

00:23:12.460 for them to just

00:23:13.120 switch the contract?

00:23:13.780 There is some executives,

00:23:15.420 some high-up Goodyear people

00:23:16.700 going into many

00:23:18.100 police departments

00:23:18.920 and probably the White House

00:23:20.360 and apologizing until,

00:23:22.160 I don't know,

00:23:22.560 their gums bleed

00:23:23.360 or something.

00:23:24.340 A hundred percent.

00:23:25.160 Well, you know,

00:23:25.520 Andrew, it was a great commentary.

00:23:26.900 And you know, folks,

00:23:27.460 I'll tell you,

00:23:28.520 I think the ostensible reason

00:23:30.840 for a business

00:23:31.520 to be in business,

00:23:32.300 it's to make money.

00:23:34.040 It's to return

00:23:35.240 shareholder value.

00:23:36.740 It is a business after all,

00:23:38.540 not a political institution.

00:23:39.800 Now, in recent years,

00:23:40.860 a lot of big companies

00:23:41.880 have adopted something

00:23:42.860 called CSR,

00:23:44.500 Corporate Social Responsibility.

00:23:46.320 But that's,

00:23:47.160 and traditionally,

00:23:47.920 that's all been about

00:23:48.820 raising money for charities

00:23:50.780 like breast cancer

00:23:52.320 or what have you.

00:23:53.420 This idea of a company

00:23:54.840 going,

00:23:55.560 wading into the weeds

00:23:56.820 of politics,

00:23:58.500 well,

00:23:59.320 look what happened to them.

00:24:00.680 Let's hope this is

00:24:01.520 a cautionary tale

00:24:02.600 for other companies

00:24:04.160 out there

00:24:04.680 that this is a,

00:24:06.240 this is territory

00:24:07.000 that is rife with danger.

00:24:09.160 Keep it here.

00:24:10.280 More of Rebel Roundup

00:24:11.080 to come

00:24:11.440 right after this.

00:24:17.500 David Menzies

00:24:18.460 for Rebel News

00:24:19.500 here in Thunder Bay,

00:24:21.200 Ontario.

00:24:21.940 And folks,

00:24:22.480 I'm with Arrow

00:24:23.420 and Carol Jansen.

00:24:25.120 They live here

00:24:25.940 in Thunder Bay.

00:24:27.460 And on July 15th,

00:24:30.340 they came here

00:24:31.680 to the Intercity

00:24:32.760 Shopping Centre.

00:24:34.160 And you're just to do

00:24:34.940 a little bit of shopping.

00:24:36.180 And then what happened?

00:24:38.240 Then we went

00:24:39.620 to go sit on the steps

00:24:40.780 and within minutes,

00:24:42.720 the security guard

00:24:43.460 had come up to us.

00:24:45.200 The security guard

00:24:45.920 said that we couldn't

00:24:46.900 be sitting on the steps

00:24:48.040 because it was

00:24:48.880 against the law.

00:24:49.980 Now, Arrow,

00:24:50.660 the reason why

00:24:51.820 he was saying that,

00:24:52.860 I suppose,

00:24:53.680 is that the food court

00:24:54.960 was still closed down

00:24:56.380 due to the Wuhan virus.

00:24:57.680 It hadn't reopened yet.

00:24:59.180 And I guess

00:24:59.980 they didn't want people

00:25:00.780 loitering around.

00:25:01.520 But you are dealing

00:25:03.000 right now

00:25:03.620 with prostate cancer.

00:25:04.960 You get tired.

00:25:06.580 So you weren't there

00:25:07.520 to, I don't know,

00:25:08.740 camp out.

00:25:09.580 You were just there

00:25:10.380 to take a little break

00:25:11.400 before you resumed

00:25:12.440 your journey

00:25:12.900 into the parking lot.

00:25:14.180 He had no empathy

00:25:15.520 at all

00:25:16.060 for your predicament?

00:25:17.760 Nothing.

00:25:18.340 He just

00:25:18.980 was targeting Carol.

00:25:22.400 And I said

00:25:22.940 about the mask,

00:25:23.860 I said,

00:25:24.240 that's the worst thing

00:25:25.260 you could be doing

00:25:25.960 is wearing these masks.

00:25:27.220 I mean,

00:25:27.440 you're cutting off

00:25:28.160 your oxygen.

00:25:29.360 And I said,

00:25:29.820 and I need all the oxygen

00:25:31.040 I can get,

00:25:32.720 you know,

00:25:33.020 in my condition.

00:25:33.820 So then we got up

00:25:34.920 and we started

00:25:35.420 walking out.

00:25:36.660 And as we were

00:25:37.740 coming towards

00:25:39.280 the exit,

00:25:40.580 I was walking

00:25:42.280 ahead of them.

00:25:43.800 Apparently,

00:25:44.280 he had hollered out

00:25:45.620 to Carol that,

00:25:47.340 well,

00:25:47.480 Merry Christmas.

00:25:48.680 And he said

00:25:49.580 that we were banned

00:25:50.760 for life,

00:25:51.720 the two of us.

00:25:52.960 And he said

00:25:53.780 that we have to

00:25:54.960 vacate the premises.

00:25:56.660 And we just said,

00:25:57.580 that's fine.

00:25:58.320 We're leaving now.

00:25:59.800 And we proceeded

00:26:01.040 to cross into

00:26:03.040 the parking lot

00:26:03.700 to head for our vehicle.

00:26:04.960 Now,

00:26:05.280 surely this must be

00:26:06.640 the end of the story.

00:26:07.940 Oh,

00:26:08.220 but there's another epilogue

00:26:09.480 because you went

00:26:10.680 to your new

00:26:11.960 Buick SUV

00:26:13.640 and you were,

00:26:15.640 and it should be noted,

00:26:16.480 folks,

00:26:16.860 you have a

00:26:18.000 handicapped parking sticker.

00:26:19.720 You are parked

00:26:20.360 in a handicapped space.

00:26:22.400 And lo and behold,

00:26:24.060 that security guard

00:26:25.320 was not done

00:26:26.440 with you yet,

00:26:27.160 correct?

00:26:27.660 That's correct.

00:26:28.260 He wasn't done

00:26:28.760 with us yet.

00:26:29.600 I had the door

00:26:30.240 open about this much

00:26:31.180 and they came

00:26:32.420 from behind me

00:26:33.320 and slammed the door

00:26:34.980 closed and threw me

00:26:36.300 against the vehicle

00:26:37.020 and then put handcuffs

00:26:38.300 on me and told me

00:26:39.060 I was under arrest.

00:26:40.520 And then I had

00:26:41.500 been saying to him,

00:26:42.340 call the police,

00:26:43.280 call the police,

00:26:44.000 because I was,

00:26:44.700 you know,

00:26:45.180 trying to,

00:26:45.740 you know,

00:26:47.020 get away from it.

00:26:49.240 And I got thrown

00:26:50.300 against the vehicle.

00:26:51.060 I don't know

00:26:51.540 how many times

00:26:52.360 because I got thrown

00:26:54.720 this way

00:26:55.560 and I got thrown

00:26:56.440 this way.

00:26:57.160 Certainly,

00:26:57.500 these must have been

00:26:58.260 very powerful throws.

00:26:59.840 There was $2,500

00:27:00.700 worth of damage

00:27:01.960 done on your vehicle,

00:27:03.520 wasn't there?

00:27:04.000 Yes, there was.

00:27:04.620 Oh, and there is

00:27:05.740 an epilogue

00:27:06.740 to what is already

00:27:08.020 an awful story

00:27:09.100 regarding what was

00:27:10.080 meant to be

00:27:10.720 simply a routine

00:27:11.880 trip to the mall.

00:27:13.300 Namely,

00:27:13.820 when police arrived

00:27:15.000 on the scene,

00:27:16.260 they charged

00:27:17.720 Carol Jansen

00:27:18.680 with assault.

00:27:19.620 A security guard

00:27:21.280 claims she spat

00:27:22.960 on him,

00:27:23.800 an allegation

00:27:24.520 Carol vehemently 0.98

00:27:25.640 denies.

00:27:26.720 So, let's see

00:27:27.560 what the surveillance

00:27:28.560 cameras have to say,

00:27:29.680 right?

00:27:30.320 Well, folks,

00:27:31.060 apparently that footage

00:27:32.280 does not exist,

00:27:33.900 even though there

00:27:34.660 was a camera

00:27:35.320 situated just a few

00:27:36.780 meters away

00:27:37.540 from the altercation.

00:27:39.700 Interesting.

00:27:40.960 In any event,

00:27:41.660 here's what you

00:27:42.220 had to say

00:27:42.900 about a shopping

00:27:44.220 trip that was

00:27:45.020 memorable

00:27:45.460 for all the

00:27:46.620 wrong reasons.

00:27:48.020 Haikaru

00:27:49.320 writes,

00:27:50.380 Mall security

00:27:51.160 is not allowed

00:27:51.920 to have physical

00:27:52.660 contact with anyone.

00:27:54.040 It's not

00:27:54.820 in their jurisdiction.

00:27:56.880 This is 100%

00:27:58.160 illegal,

00:27:58.980 and I hope

00:27:59.600 they get sued

00:28:00.300 and arrested.

00:28:01.540 Well, Haikura,

00:28:02.620 first of all,

00:28:03.660 all of the allegations

00:28:04.600 have to be proven

00:28:05.840 in a court of law.

00:28:06.980 That hasn't happened yet.

00:28:08.100 But it does not

00:28:09.500 look good

00:28:10.280 that the mall

00:28:10.960 administration

00:28:11.700 won't even return

00:28:12.740 our phone calls.

00:28:13.620 And we do want

00:28:15.000 to hear their

00:28:15.580 side of the story.

00:28:16.940 As for no video

00:28:18.500 footage,

00:28:19.360 hmm,

00:28:19.940 my spidey senses

00:28:21.640 are tingling

00:28:22.320 on that one.

00:28:25.240 Malls are a

00:28:26.240 dying thing.

00:28:27.220 Don't go to the

00:28:27.800 malls.

00:28:28.240 No need for them

00:28:29.000 anymore.

00:28:29.800 Well,

00:28:30.180 you are right,

00:28:30.900 Beck Durham.

00:28:31.480 Traditional retail

00:28:32.280 outlets are

00:28:33.020 struggling these

00:28:34.000 days,

00:28:34.480 including the

00:28:35.640 Intercity Shopping

00:28:36.620 Center,

00:28:37.080 which has lost

00:28:37.760 a few key

00:28:38.860 anchor tenants

00:28:39.760 in recent months.

00:28:40.960 Now,

00:28:41.180 I don't want to

00:28:42.100 see anyone go

00:28:42.840 out of business,

00:28:43.380 and I don't

00:28:44.140 want to see

00:28:44.760 people lose

00:28:45.400 their jobs.

00:28:46.720 But for security

00:28:47.540 to allegedly

00:28:48.340 take such a

00:28:49.320 heavy-handed

00:28:49.960 approach on

00:28:51.380 paying customers?

00:28:53.000 Wow,

00:28:53.500 that makes no

00:28:54.780 sense to me.

00:29:01.100 a case in weeks.

00:29:02.220 Well,

00:29:02.480 I'm not sure

00:29:03.000 what the most

00:29:03.780 recent stats are,

00:29:05.000 but I do know

00:29:05.900 that Thunder

00:29:06.440 Bay is certainly

00:29:07.380 no hotbed for

00:29:08.540 the Wuhan virus,

00:29:09.660 perhaps because

00:29:10.320 the city is so

00:29:11.240 remote,

00:29:11.640 which makes

00:29:12.900 the alleged

00:29:13.420 behavior of

00:29:14.320 those security

00:29:14.940 guards all the

00:29:15.840 more bizarre,

00:29:16.640 really,

00:29:17.340 as they were

00:29:18.060 allegedly lashing

00:29:19.280 out in the name

00:29:19.980 of pandemic

00:29:20.860 safety.

00:29:21.820 Weird.

00:29:22.700 And who knew

00:29:23.760 that sitting on

00:29:24.740 a staircase

00:29:25.360 was a pandemic

00:29:26.940 faux pas?

00:29:34.420 Police need a

00:29:35.980 Yes,

00:29:36.620 folks,

00:29:36.900 Ross is

00:29:37.280 referring to

00:29:37.880 what happens

00:29:38.420 later in the

00:29:38.940 video when a

00:29:39.460 security guard

00:29:40.220 takes umbrage

00:29:41.180 to us filming

00:29:42.600 in the mall

00:29:43.160 and actually

00:29:44.380 threatens to

00:29:45.280 confiscate our

00:29:46.260 equipment.

00:29:47.260 Good luck on

00:29:48.240 that.

00:29:48.900 And what a

00:29:49.900 happy vibe at

00:29:51.300 the Intercity

00:29:52.120 Shopping Centre

00:29:53.240 these days,

00:29:53.920 eh?

00:30:01.140 a trophy.

00:30:02.240 Well,

00:30:02.880 maybe we

00:30:03.560 certainly do have

00:30:04.620 a two-tiered

00:30:05.400 justice system

00:30:06.160 these days,

00:30:07.120 so maybe it's

00:30:08.100 a pruned idea

00:30:08.880 to wear a

00:30:09.940 BLM t-shirt 0.98

00:30:11.180 even if you

00:30:12.580 don't subscribe

00:30:13.480 to the ideology

00:30:14.760 of such a

00:30:15.680 radical Marxist

00:30:16.680 organization.

00:30:17.920 After all,

00:30:18.800 maybe this apparel

00:30:19.880 can serve as a

00:30:21.100 get-out-of-jail-free

00:30:22.460 card.

00:30:23.360 Well,

00:30:23.900 that wraps up
