Rebel News Podcast - The China Files： Justin Trudeau's Chinese Troops

00:00:00.000 Hello, my Rebels. Today, it's the biggest story of my life, really, journalistically.

00:00:04.560 I've done thousands of stories here at Rebel News and Sun News before that.

00:00:09.080 Nothing like this. I did a request to the government for some documents

00:00:13.100 about China's relationship with Canada and Canada's relationship

00:00:16.420 with China when it comes to military things. They sent me 34 pages, but they forgot to delete it,

00:00:22.460 forgot to censor it, redact it. Holy cow, did they send me something. I'll take you through it.

00:00:28.140 Before I do, let me invite you to become a subscriber to Rebel News+.

00:00:32.420 The reason I say that is because it's very visual. I want you to see the documents and see what I'm

00:00:40.180 saying here. The podcast will work. It'll work, absolutely. But I think to get full value out of

00:00:45.840 Rebel shows, you've got to get the Rebel News+. It's just eight bucks a month. You get my shows

00:00:50.840 every day in video. You get weekly videos by Sheila Gunn-Reed and David Menzies. And most importantly,

00:00:55.720 I think, you keep the Rebels strong and independent. I promise you,

00:00:59.720 the CBC would never do a story like this. All right, here's today's podcast.

00:01:17.720 Tonight, the biggest journalistic scoop of my life. It's December 9th, and this is the Ezra Levant Show.

00:01:25.720 Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?

00:01:29.620 There's 8,500 customers here, and you won't give them an answer.

00:01:33.700 The only thing I have to say to the government, the wire publisher, is because it's my bloody right to do so.

00:01:39.560 I've been working on today's story for a few days. You could even say I've been working on it for 19

00:01:49.100 months when I first put an access to information request to the Canadian government. I had no idea

00:01:54.340 then that they would send me 34 pages of unredacted secret information. It's such a big story that we've

00:02:03.400 put it on its own special website called thechinaphiles.com, and we released a special half-hour

00:02:10.240 video about it earlier today. It's all I've been thinking about today and working on, and it doesn't

00:02:16.440 make a lot of sense to do a different show tonight, especially if you haven't seen the video we put out

00:02:21.760 today. So without further ado, let me show you the half-hour video we released this afternoon

00:02:27.800 about the China files. Now, you can see I introduced myself as a journalist and an author, and you'll

00:02:32.460 be saying, Ezra, we already know that. I was assuming some people would see our video for the first time,

00:02:36.880 including in the United States. This is a subject that touches on the United States, NATO, China,

00:02:44.480 secret military documents, and all sorts of other things. Here are the China files. Take a look,

00:02:50.440 and I'll see you on the other side. My name is Ezra Levant, and I'm a Canadian journalist and author.

00:02:55.320 Full disclosure, I'm a skeptic of Justin Trudeau, Canada's Liberal Prime Minister. Last year,

00:03:01.520 I wrote a book about him called The Libranos. This year, I wrote a book about him called China

00:03:06.740 Virus, how Justin Trudeau's pro-communist ideology is putting Canadians in danger. But even I didn't

00:03:14.780 know the half of that. I've never held a top-secret document in my hands before. This one is marked

00:03:20.700 secret in so many places. In some parts, it says, Canadian eyes only. Other parts are marked five

00:03:27.620 eyes only. That's the name of our intelligence alliance amongst our closest allies, Canada plus

00:03:34.400 the United States, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. I wonder what they're going to think of

00:03:39.340 all this. The China files, as I call them, are 34 pages long. I didn't steal them or hack them,

00:03:47.120 nor were they leaked to me illegally. They were actually just given to me by Global Affairs Canada.

00:03:53.540 That's the official name of the Foreign Affairs Department. You can see the entire document,

00:03:58.320 all the files for yourself, at thechinafiles.com. I'm making the whole thing available to you and to

00:04:05.740 any other reporters who want to report on this. Something tells me Trudeau's CBC state broadcaster

00:04:11.760 is going to skip this one, don't you think? The documents are not blacked out, as most secret

00:04:17.820 documents are. Normally, you can't read the interesting parts, but not these. They're all

00:04:23.540 just slightly grayed out, so you can still read them. In fact, if you assume that what's grayed

00:04:30.120 out is the stuff they really don't want you to know, it makes the reading even more revealing

00:04:34.660 because you see what they really think is sensitive. Now, there's nothing in here about

00:04:39.080 Canada's military secrets. The grayed out parts weren't trying to hide that stuff. They were

00:04:44.580 trying to hide how submissive Trudeau is to China and what he's trying to get our military to do.

00:04:51.980 That's what's marked in gray, but not in black. By the way, I would never put Canadian troops in

00:04:57.240 danger. There actually is one source who was identified in these papers who might be punished by

00:05:03.760 China. So I blacked out that info. The rest, it's just politics that you need to know.

00:05:10.820 So I don't know, maybe it was human error on the government's part to send this to me. Maybe someone

00:05:15.520 on the inside wanted the information to get out. A whistleblower, perhaps. Because I only asked one

00:05:21.200 very small question, and they answered it with these 34 pages. Back in April of 2019, I saw this story

00:05:28.640 in a Russian state-run propaganda website called Sputnik. Representatives from over 60 countries

00:05:38.020 arrived in China for international naval parade. That's the headline. I'll read a little bit.

00:05:43.700 Representatives from the navy of 61 countries arrived in the Chinese eastern port city of

00:05:48.640 Qingdao in order to attend the international parade celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Chinese

00:05:55.940 People's Liberation Army, PLA Navy, Vice Admiral Shen Jinlong said. And here's a tweet from the city of

00:06:05.520 Qingdao showing some of China's naval might and different countries coming to celebrate it.

00:06:13.240 Now, I expected Russia to be there and China's African colonies, but the sentence caught my eye.

00:06:19.180 This one here. High-ranking representatives from Canada, Germany, India, Mexico, Japan, South Korea,

00:06:26.900 and the United States and the United Kingdom are also in attendance at the event.

00:06:32.280 Whoa, Canada was there? And the U.S. too, under Donald Trump? I didn't believe it to celebrate

00:06:37.840 China's military power. Actually, no. Here's the real story from Business Insider.

00:06:44.040 The U.S. is passing on sending ships to the Chinese Navy's big 70th anniversary parade in an apparent snub.

00:06:53.960 Basically, America sent their top spy in China. Let me quote. 0.58

00:06:58.280 The U.S., however, will only send a defense attache from the U.S. embassy in Beijing.

00:07:04.680 Okay, so they sent a spy. So what about Canada? Remember, look at the date on this Sputnik story.

00:07:10.640 April 2019. So that was just a few months after China took the two Michaels hostage.

00:07:18.300 Did Justin Trudeau really send a celebration delegation to cheer for Communist China's Navy

00:07:24.660 right after two kidnapped Canadians were thrown in the Chinese jail?

00:07:30.160 I checked the websites of the Canadian Embassy in China. They didn't say a thing about attending this

00:07:35.400 parade. No press releases out of Ottawa. So was it true?

00:07:39.280 What the Russian propaganda website said about Canada. Was it partly true? Like how the U.S. did send

00:07:45.560 someone, but it was really a spy? Or was this just Russian propaganda? So we filed an access to

00:07:51.560 information request, as we do hundreds of times a year, asking for any documents that would shed light

00:07:57.480 on the question. Of course, we thought such documents would be redacted for national security secrets,

00:08:03.320 but attending a communist parade is something we had the right to know. Now, we heard back pretty

00:08:09.360 quick. They refused to answer our question before the 2019 Canadian election was over. That's an illegal

00:08:17.520 delay, but they do that all the time. Well, the election is over, plus a year. And so now, 19 months after we

00:08:25.700 asked the question, we finally heard back from the government. And instead of just telling us about the

00:08:31.700 parade, they told us everything else, too. You saw my question. It was about the Navy parade. Well, they sent me the

00:08:39.880 entire calendar of events for the Canadian Embassy in Beijing from April to December of 2019. And it's all grayed out.

00:08:48.260 I think they meant to black out the whole thing. But look, April 22nd to 25, PLA Navy 70th Anniversary Fleet Review,

00:08:57.560 Qingdao. They did indeed go. Canada sent a colonel. That would have answered my question, but look at what

00:09:05.000 else is on the calendar. All the celebrations and parties that the Canadian Embassy was having just months

00:09:11.960 after the kidnapping of the two Michaels in Beijing. You can see the calendar showed that Catherine

00:09:17.780 McKenna jetted into Hangzhou for some global warming festival in June. What a horrific woman flying to 1.00

00:09:25.840 China to party while two Canadians were rotting in a Chinese prison. You'll notice that event in particular

00:09:32.200 was under a dark gray highlight. I can understand why they wanted to hide that. It's not a national

00:09:39.560 security issue. It's a national shame issue. The bureaucrats at Foreign Affairs knew it was disgraceful

00:09:46.760 for McKenna to fly to China to go to a party. And look, in October 2019, Canada sent a massive delegation of

00:09:55.340 Canadian Armed Forces personnel to participate in China's military world games in Wuhan. I'm serious. 114 Canadian

00:10:04.300 athletes, 57 Canadian coaches. They're all from the military. I actually had to get those details from the Chinese

00:10:10.600 embassy. You see, the Chinese propaganda mission for nearly 200 Canadian forces personnel, this whole games was just a 0.69

00:10:18.660 propaganda exercise. That was kept secret by the Canadian government. I had to learn about it from the Chinese

00:10:23.880 government. Trudeau sent over a massive delegation to show respect to China's army to be filmed for China propaganda

00:10:31.180 movies, showing that China so dominates the world that Canadian soldiers came to bend the knee even as China holds

00:10:41.220 Canadians prisoner. So you'd think that's all I would have been sent. The calendar. It answered my question. Was the

00:10:49.180 Russian propaganda correct? Did Canada send someone to celebrate China's navy? And the answer was yes. I think it's telling that 0.57

00:10:57.100 Trudeau hid that for 19 months. And then we had to find out about it from Russia. I think Trudeau knows he was

00:11:04.220 doing something disgraceful. And maybe the person who sent me these documents agrees. So that's all I asked

00:11:10.180 for. But here's what else I got. I got internal memos showing how China is demanding that democracies back

00:11:18.300 down on having any reference to human rights in trade deals. Internal reports about how China is using its

00:11:24.880 so-called belt and road initiative to colonize the world, to build a China-centric economic and political

00:11:32.480 empire. How China is changing diplomacy itself, replacing the idea of multilateralism, which is like

00:11:40.720 the Knights of the Round Table where every country equally deals with each other country, like at the

00:11:45.180 United Nations. China is replacing that with something China calls multibilateralism, with China in the 0.61

00:11:52.720 middle of the world, like a hub, with a bunch of spokes going to each other country. So no more

00:11:58.380 international meetings like the G7, for example. China-style meetings have China in the center, and all

00:12:04.640 other countries have to go through it to deal with the others. That's interesting. Something else I learned

00:12:09.840 was how badly the Canadian government censors itself about China by looking at the sort of things that

00:12:16.420 they wanted to block us from seeing, the grayed-out stuff, because they didn't want Xi Jinping to lose

00:12:21.540 face. Canada is sticking up for the Chinese president. Why are they afraid that Xi Jinping

00:12:28.020 will see that they're calling out his censorship under the great firewall of China? Why did they want

00:12:35.240 to keep that hidden? And why is Trudeau trying to cover up the fact that China is censoring Twitter?

00:12:42.660 The Canadian government mentions an allegation by an NGO that China is using smartphones to track

00:12:49.020 Muslims in Xinjiang province. Why did they cover up the fact that the Canadian embassy has, quote,

00:12:55.500 seen this app in use at police checkpoints in Xinjiang? Why is Trudeau literally covering up

00:13:02.860 atrocities for China? There's enough in here for at least three other videos, and I will do those in

00:13:12.140 the days ahead and publish them on thechinafiles.com. It's just so much to go through here. This document

00:13:20.100 will take weeks to work through, so for the rest of this video, I want to talk about just one thing,

00:13:26.180 the most shocking revelation in it. These papers show an internal battle within the Canadian government

00:13:32.340 over how to deal with China in the wake of the kidnapping of the two Michaels. On one side of this

00:13:38.860 political battle is China, Trudeau, his pro-China ambassador at the time, John McCallum, and senior

00:13:46.080 bureaucrats, including this man, Ian Sugart, who used to run foreign affairs for Trudeau, and who has

00:13:53.600 since been promoted as Trudeau's top civil servant. His title is the chief of the Privy Council.

00:14:01.560 That's on the China side. And on the other side of this political battle is the Canadian Armed Forces,

00:14:06.480 the Department of National Defense, and our five allies, including the U.S. It's incredible. And

00:14:13.780 folks, the China side seems to be winning. The battle I'm going to show you centered on a memo 0.99

00:14:20.560 that the Trudeau-China team was drafting to be signed by Ian Sugart, telling the military

00:14:26.940 to obey them and to keep warm relations with the People's Liberation Army, even after the kidnapping

00:14:36.240 of the two Michaels. So all the bureaucrats were trying to tie down and tie up the Canadian military,

00:14:43.220 which was clearly disgusted by China, and naturally wanted to stand with our real allies instead.

00:14:48.140 So the battle was over this memo. Memorandum for action, it says. And you see it's marked

00:14:55.520 secret CEO. That means Canadian eyes only. So I'll go through it. Two, deputy minister of foreign

00:15:03.760 affairs. At the time, that was Ian Sugart. CC, IFM, OGM. That's an alphabet soup for the political

00:15:11.480 affairs branch and the Asia branch of foreign affairs. Subject, deputy minister level guidance

00:15:17.740 from Global Affairs Canada with respect to Department of National Defense, Canadian Armed

00:15:22.980 Forces engagements with China's People's Liberation Army. So I read out the acronyms there. So this is

00:15:29.840 the memo put to the deputy minister for him to sign. This is directing the army to play nice with China.

00:15:37.180 Let me read the contents of this memo. As you can see, I'm reading out the full acronyms because

00:15:42.500 otherwise it's just so many alphabets, letters. But it's hard to see this because of all the shading,

00:15:49.240 the gray shading. But you can read it all. You can go to our website, thechinaphiles.com,

00:15:55.120 and see the primary document yourself. So I'll read some of it now for you. It's a little hard to see,

00:15:59.780 but you can see it. Summary, and note how this is 90% grayed out. On December 21st, so that would be

00:16:09.040 in 2018, right after the two Michaels were kidnapped, the Department of National Defense requested

00:16:14.520 deputy minister level guidance with respect to Department of National Defense, Canadian Armed

00:16:19.260 Forces bilateral engagements with China. Department of Defense, Canadian Armed Forces is reviewing its

00:16:26.560 posture and commitments to its engagements with the People's Liberation Army, in part due to Chinese

00:16:32.480 response to the U.S. extradition request for Ms. Meng Wanzhou and the resulting Canadian consular cases.

00:16:40.480 Stop right there for a second. Isn't it funny? This memo mentions Ms. Meng Wanzhou by name,

00:16:46.320 but won't even say the names of the two Michaels, won't even say they're prisoners, hostages really.

00:16:52.220 It's disgraceful the way they talk, even in private, in the government. But get this.

00:16:58.200 Thus far, the chief of the defense staff has unilaterally elected not to proceed with one

00:17:03.180 bilateral military activity training exercise planned for 2019, a winter survival training exercise.

00:17:12.500 China, People's Liberation Army, has not yet been informed of this decision.

00:17:16.720 I'm stunned. I'm serious. Did you know that Canada had a bilateral military training exercise with

00:17:27.820 China? Bilateral means one-on-one. It's just Canada and China there. And apparently we do a number of

00:17:35.120 these. So just Canada and China training together. Our NATO allies not invited. The Americans who have

00:17:43.260 subsidized our Canadian national defense for decades throughout the Cold War, throughout the war on

00:17:49.180 terror, the Americans, our greatest friends and allies. We kick them out and we're hanging out with 0.61

00:17:54.620 China's soldiers. Instead, we're inviting China's soldiers to learn our military secrets. And now the 0.90

00:18:00.100 chief of defense staff wants to put one, just one, such exercise on hold. The cold weather warfare session

00:18:07.460 where we train China how to beat us in Canada, how we train China how to beat India in their mountain 0.75

00:18:14.100 battle that's been going on for months. The chief of defense staff thinks that maybe we ought to put

00:18:19.040 that on hold. And here's what the Trudeocrats write. They say, while resolving the consular cases

00:18:25.640 is the government of Canada's top priority. Again, they won't say Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor's

00:18:31.820 names. They just won't. While resolving the consular cases is the government of Canada's top

00:18:37.360 priority, ensuring a certain amount of continuity in other parts of the Canada-China relationship

00:18:43.020 remains important. Given the heightened scrutiny, any decision by Canada to reduce or cut ties

00:18:49.700 should be carefully considered to avoid sending any unhelpful or unintended messages. So Trudeau

00:18:56.740 and his staff are lecturing the army. Don't you dare stand up for Canadian values. Don't

00:19:03.220 you dare stand up for two Canadians illegally kidnapped. You keep pretending everything is

00:19:08.720 just fine. That's an order. And that's what the rest of the memo is about. The bureaucrats

00:19:15.800 instructing the chief of defense staff that he is not allowed to cut any more joint programs

00:19:22.380 with the People's Liberation Army without Trudeau's permission first. Let me read some more.

00:19:27.480 In the interest of avoiding such a scenario, a letter has been drafted on your behalf for

00:19:32.160 Department of National Defense's Deputy Minister Thomas that will provide guidance consistent with

00:19:37.800 Canada's current approach to China. Look at that. If they really had blacked out the gray parts here, 1.00

00:19:44.360 you would have no idea what this is about. You'd know nothing. You wouldn't know that our army

00:19:49.820 trains the Chinese troops. You wouldn't know the army wanted to cancel only one of several joint

00:19:56.280 training sessions. And you wouldn't know that deeply enraged Trudeau and the whole liberal bureaucracy

00:20:01.960 who wanted to handcuff the chief of defense staff and force him to continue working with Chinese army

00:20:07.680 troops unless he was given explicit permission otherwise. So that's the cover letter to the memo. And

00:20:14.620 then they have their arguments. And I know this video is getting long, but frankly, it's all leading

00:20:19.820 to this. Look at this part. Look at the very, very dark part in paragraph two. I'll read it out if you

00:20:25.940 can't quite see it. The review is also driven by concerns expressed by the United States military

00:20:32.920 that at least one element of Canada-China military collaboration planned for 2019 risks unintended

00:20:41.580 and undesired knowledge transfer from Canada to the PLA. That's it. That's everything right there.

00:20:51.400 It's very dark, but you can see it if you look carefully. Look for yourself at thechinafiles.com.

00:20:56.780 Trudeau was making the Canadian Armed Forces give private military training to China on a Canadian

00:21:05.280 Forces base in Ontario. And America said, whoa, you're teaching him our secrets. And instead of

00:21:11.820 Canada saying, you're right, what are we thinking? The entire Trudeau government says, yeah, you stupid 1.00

00:21:17.780 Americans, we're with China now. That's what this memo means. I mean, just ask our ambassador to China at 1.00

00:21:23.700 the time, John McCallum. He's mentioned in these files. Here he is when he was asked about Canada-China

00:21:30.180 relations and on what terms. Within 24 hours of arriving in China, I was invited to present my

00:21:37.500 credentials to President Xi Jinping. And I conveyed to him a message from our prime minister that can

00:21:44.560 be summarized in three words, more, more, more. Or in Mandarin, gung dua, gung dua, gung dua.

00:21:51.340 You know, McCallum actually said Canada has more in common with China than with the United States. He

00:21:57.740 said that. So paragraph four repeats that the winter survival training course is canceled,

00:22:04.400 but Trudeau was worried it would hurt China's feelings. Let me read.

00:22:09.820 Department of National Defense agreed that Global Affairs Canada would be consulted before this decision

00:22:14.720 is communicated to China in order to shape messaging in advance and account for ongoing sensitivities

00:22:20.540 in bilateral relations. Paragraph five is about the Navy parade in Qingdao, the one I was curious

00:22:27.100 about, and it's threatening the military. They can't make the decision on their own. They have to confer

00:22:32.140 with Trudeau. Paragraph six says that any changes between the Canada-People's Liberation Army relationship

00:22:38.880 must be approved by Trudeau's China-loving bureaucrats and diplomats first.

00:22:43.140 More, more, more.

00:22:44.560 Yeah, more, more, more is what they want. The memo basically says the same thing five more times.

00:22:50.960 But look at paragraph 15. Should Canada make significant reductions in its military engagement

00:22:57.640 with China, China will likely read this as a retaliatory move related to the Meng Wanzhou case. 0.95

00:23:04.620 No, not Meng Wanzhou, you immoral cads. Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, say their names. 0.63

00:23:13.260 We wouldn't be retaliating against China because we lawfully arrested a billionaire oligarch,

00:23:20.840 the CFO of Huawei, Meng Wanzhou, because she was accused of bank fraud. And she's living the high

00:23:26.080 life in Vancouver, out and about in that lovely city. We wouldn't be retaliating for her.

00:23:31.500 Imagine the person giving moral direction to our military, worried about her. No, we're not

00:23:38.940 worried about her. We're worried about the two Canadians that were kidnapped by China. I'll keep 1.00

00:23:42.120 reading. This is not least because China has used reductions in military engagement with the U.S.

00:23:48.680 in recent years to signal its dissatisfaction with the U.S.-China trade relationship. Oh, so China

00:23:54.400 can pout by, say, canceling port visits that U.S. Navy ships used to dock in Hong Kong.

00:24:01.500 But Trudeau is telling our military we're not allowed to do that to express our displeasure.

00:24:07.900 And just in case you missed it, they drafted a letter marked Secret CEO, which means Canadian

00:24:15.280 eyes only, that said this, Canada does not want to be the partner that is reducing normal bilateral

00:24:23.720 interactions. Yeah, we're not, buddy. They're the ones who kidnapped our citizens. We're not the ones

00:24:31.660 degrading the relationship. And more threats that the Army had better check with Trudeau diplomats

00:24:36.980 before canceling or reducing anything like the Winter Warfare Training School. And then look at the

00:24:42.000 last two pages in the whole file. The last two pages of the memo, Annex 2, it's called. It's marked

00:24:49.780 unclassified because it's a list of engagements between the Canadian Armed Forces and China's

00:24:55.560 People's Liberation Army. So how could it possibly be classified? We're literally inviting an enemy

00:25:01.560 army to Canada to train with us. And yet they grayed out the first item. So you and I weren't meant to

00:25:09.400 see this, but China knows all about it, of course. PLA members participate in winter survival training

00:25:15.880 at CFB Petawala, Canadian Forces Base Petawala. Now it's small. It's not hundreds of soldiers.

00:25:22.800 It's six to eight personnel per country. But you only need one spy to learn our winter warfare secrets.

00:25:30.600 We actually invite six to eight Chinese spies to take notes and to study and to learn everything.

00:25:38.060 And they don't even have to do so secretly. We actually invited them to teach them on purpose

00:25:44.760 our secrets to fighting in the cold. And that's not all. PLA in Canada. Military Education Commanders

00:25:54.160 Dialogue. So we're teaching one-star and two-star Chinese generals how to properly train their soldiers.

00:26:00.740 Why are we doing that? And look at the next page. PLA members attend the Canadian Security

00:26:07.740 Studies Program at CFC Toronto. That's the Canadian Forces College. That's where we train our top men

00:26:15.380 and women. Now we're training China's top men. And we're inviting them right in there. A couple of

00:26:22.480 senior colonels, it says. They can't believe their luck. I mean, whether they're planting listing devices

00:26:28.840 or just making notes of people to corrupt, why are we inviting the enemy into the place where we make

00:26:34.720 our own soldiers? I'll read some more. There's a couple more at the Military College in Kingston

00:26:40.940 too. Do you see that? And I didn't even show you all the sessions that Canadian soldiers are sent to do

00:26:45.940 in China to teach China, to train China, and to be spied on by China in China. Did you know we were doing

00:26:54.580 any of this? Any of this? This memo's outrageous. It's outrageous for what it describes as normal

00:27:00.900 that we're giving one-on-one training sessions to our enemy's commanders. But even more so that

00:27:06.800 the moment the military says, oh, we should probably cool things off. We should gear down. Well, you've got

00:27:13.080 a full court press by Trudeau to not change a thing. That's the memo they're fighting over. That's a lot of

00:27:20.260 what the rest of these documents show. I'll invite you to read them for yourself at thechinafiles.com.

00:27:26.240 But look at this. The bureaucrats are now fighting over this proposed memo, right? Which is basically

00:27:31.520 Trudeau telling the army to put China first. So they're battling over the wording of the memo.

00:27:38.220 So a Trudeau bureaucrat in charge of China policy named Nicola Payne writes,

00:27:43.460 We are in the process of reviewing the draft and had a couple of questions, comments.

00:27:49.300 And it's all grayed out because it blames America. I'm serious. Look at point two.

00:27:56.220 Our impression is that Department of National Defense, Canadian Armed Forces, reluctance to engage

00:28:02.160 with the People's Liberation Army is not solely related to Ms. Mung's arrest and the consular cases.

00:28:08.700 There are other reasons behind their interest in disengaging. From our perspective, it also

00:28:15.060 perhaps to be related to a desire to be fully aligned with five eyes, particularly the United

00:28:22.980 States, whose approach has shifted under the Trump administration. We recall, for example,

00:28:29.760 back in December, Department of National Defense, Canadian Armed Forces were keen to cancel the

00:28:34.980 People's Liberation Army's participation in the winter survival training following the request

00:28:40.960 from the U.S. Department of Defense to do so. That's what DOD stands for. So they're blaming Trump.

00:28:49.200 They're saying only an idiot would stop training China in how to fight in cold weather. This is a 1.00

00:28:53.340 Trump thing. Just ignore it. I'm serious. That's the meaning of this. So another bureaucrat named

00:28:59.300 Antoine Nouveau writes back saying, I'll get back to you on that whole Trump thing.

00:29:03.160 Whether several five eyes countries have expressed concerns about knowledge transfer versus the U.S.

00:29:10.900 only. So they're trying to figure out, do they have to pay attention or not? If it's just the dummies

00:29:18.160 in the Trump administration who are worried about Canada teaching China our cold weather warfare 0.96

00:29:23.540 secrets, Trudeau's fine with it. If the Brits or the Kiwis or the Aussies don't like it, maybe Trudeau

00:29:29.300 will yield to them. That's exactly what this means. Now this goes back and forth amongst various

00:29:34.960 bureaucrats. It's pretty clear. If some other country were objecting to Canada training the

00:29:41.080 Chinese Army, Canada would pay attention. But if it's just the U.S. that objects, Trudeau doesn't

00:29:46.180 care about them. Look, I've only covered maybe 25% of all these files. I'm going to do more videos on

00:29:53.280 completely different subjects in the days ahead. How Canada covers up China's spying on Uyghur Muslims

00:29:58.440 in Xinjiang. How China uses the Belt and Road Initiative to undermine rival diplomatic blocks

00:30:04.100 and to neuter human rights concerns. On how Canada's bureaucrats are afraid of offending

00:30:09.440 Xi Jinping. Those are all important, but not as shocking to me as the revelation that Canada

00:30:15.900 has been training Chinese troops, colonels, generals, risking our military secrets. And Trudeau's main

00:30:25.460 concern is that we don't offend China by disengaging and that we don't act if it's just the Americans who

00:30:33.480 are worried. I've read and re-read these memos again and again. What I don't see is a single

00:30:40.080 voice fighting for Michael Spavor or Michael Kovrig. Not a single voice promoting Canadian values

00:30:48.200 abroad. Not even promoting Canadian interests. I see bureaucrats who see America as the enemy

00:30:54.020 and China as the ally. Who think it's fine to participate in Chinese propaganda exercises, whether

00:31:00.100 it's the naval parade or the Wuhan military games. I actually didn't see a single national security

00:31:05.820 secret in this whole mess. But I did see a lot of politics that Trudeau and his team probably want

00:31:11.200 kept quiet. And what I saw is that memo putting our soldiers on a leash. It was drafted for signature

00:31:20.160 by a man named Ian Sugart. He was the top bureaucrat at foreign affairs and it was his job to put the

00:31:27.540 military in its place. He's not there anymore because Trudeau just promoted him to be the top bureaucrat

00:31:35.780 for the entire liberal government. The chief of the Privy Council. He runs interference for Trudeau on

00:31:42.160 every file now. Whether it's on the We Charity fiasco or telling soldiers that they have to train

00:31:48.660 their enemies. How do you feel about what I've shown you today? If you're still interested and want to

00:31:55.560 read more, why not go over to thechinafiles.com. Read all the documents for yourself. I found it easier

00:32:01.740 to read the gray parts when I actually printed it out on paper. I've invited other journalists to

00:32:06.680 study this document too. I don't know how many will. Like Trudeau and Ian Sugart, the media party is

00:32:13.920 just fine with China. It's our military that they don't like. And the only thing they dislike more than 0.51

00:32:20.540 our military is America's military. Go to thechinafiles.com. See for yourself. And if you

00:32:28.060 appreciate the work we're doing here at Rebel News, please chip in a bit on the crowdfunding button

00:32:33.360 on that page. Unlike Trudeau's CBC, we don't get a dime in government money. Which is probably the

00:32:39.620 only reason we're able to tell you the news like this. Well, what do you think of the Chinafiles?

00:32:57.620 Very exciting, I think. And even more exciting, it looks like other journalists might actually pick

00:33:03.840 up the story. Certainly in the United States they are. Hopefully some other voices here in Canada.

00:33:09.440 You never know. What did you think of it? We're going to do more stories. There was so much to

00:33:14.180 unpack there. I encourage you to go to thechinafiles.com and just read it. Now, it's slow

00:33:18.180 going. There's lots of jargon and acronyms, but you'll get the gist of it pretty quick.

00:33:23.240 That's our show for today. Until tomorrow, on behalf of all of us here at Rebel World Headquarters,

00:33:27.440 good night. Keep fighting for freedom.
