Rebel News Podcast - YouTube comes to kill Rebel News

00:00:00.000 Hello, my Rebels. Today, I have some news about us. Listen, I love talking about the world,

00:00:04.560 but sometimes we make news too. YouTube wrote to me last night saying they're fully demonetizing

00:00:11.640 us. And when I asked why, they wouldn't say. I'll take you through possible theories and what we're

00:00:17.080 going to do about it. I think this means YouTube is looking to suspend us altogether. That would

00:00:21.900 be bad news, but I have a plan to overcome it. So that's what I'm going to get into in today's show.

00:00:27.420 By the way, I'd love it if you became a subscriber. And what I mean by that is

00:00:32.700 subscriber to the video version of this podcast. Just go to rebelnews.com and click subscribe. It's

00:00:38.200 eight bucks a month. You get the video version of the podcast, plus shows by David Benzies,

00:00:42.360 Sheila Gunn-Reed, Andrew Chapados. And oh my God, more important than ever,

00:00:47.620 you will support us because YouTube just kicked a $400,000 hole in our company.

00:00:52.720 I'll tell you more about that in today's podcast. All right, here's today's show.

00:00:57.420 Tonight, YouTube comes to kill rebel news. It's March 23rd, and this is the Ezra LeVant Show.

00:01:18.180 Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?

00:01:23.920 There's 8,500 customers here, and you won't give them an answer.

00:01:27.980 The only thing I have to say to the government, the wire publisher, is because it's my bloody

00:01:32.860 right to do so.

00:01:38.700 Last night at 5.30 p.m., I received this letter from YouTube. They're cutting off rebel news.

00:01:45.880 They're completely canceling all remaining ads on our channel, even from advertisers who

00:01:51.880 specifically request our channel. And worse, they're banning our 1.45 million YouTube subscribers

00:01:59.360 from voluntarily paying us through what are called live stream super chats. This is going to cost us

00:02:06.740 about $400,000 a year. We've got three choices, really. If we stop criticizing the lockdown,

00:02:16.340 they say we can reapply in 30 days and possibly get our ads back. But we would have to stop saying what

00:02:23.560 we say. We have to say what they want us to say. Or we could gut our company, cut out $400,000 a year

00:02:32.640 in costs. We've just hired great new folks, new reporters, editors. We've done so much great civil

00:02:40.780 liberties work. Cutting $400,000 a year means probably cutting seven staff. I think that's really

00:02:49.340 what YouTube wants us to do. Which of those would you choose? Change our editorial viewpoint

00:02:55.800 or cut $400,000 from our payroll? Me? I'll do neither, thank you. I've got a plan.

00:03:05.600 We're going to get through this. We're not going to be just like the CBC or CNN. We're not going to

00:03:11.340 parrot the left. We're not going to cut our staff. I have a plan. Stay with me and I'll tell you about

00:03:17.660 it. Or if you can't wait, just go to afteryoutube.com and it's all right there.

00:03:23.540 I need your help to survive this. I think YouTube is ramping up. To be honest, I think their next step

00:03:30.860 will be to suspend our channel altogether, just to delete us. I really don't know how long we've

00:03:36.920 got left on YouTube at all, but I do have a plan and you can see it at afteryoutube.com. It's a

00:03:43.060 simple plan and today we started to implement it. Frankly, we were expecting something like this.

00:03:48.780 We started putting things in motion months ago. But just quickly, before I get to the plan,

00:03:54.400 you might think that maybe we did something wrong. YouTube has a three strikes and you're out policy

00:04:00.420 for inappropriate videos. I should tell you, we have zero strikes. We've published more than 15,000

00:04:08.620 videos on YouTube and we've never violated their terms of service. There was no warning here.

00:04:14.960 We don't know about any complaint. We're aware of no video that caused this. When I got that letter

00:04:22.680 last night, I phoned our YouTube rep and I asked if there was something in particular that we did

00:04:28.280 wrong. Was there a video that broke a rule? I mean, if there was something really bad, maybe we would

00:04:33.220 fix it or even just take it down. She said, no, there's no particular video. I asked if we could

00:04:40.620 appeal the ruling. She said, no, there's no such thing. I asked if I could talk to a more senior

00:04:47.380 boss. She said she'd check. Pretty sure I know the answer. But let me take one more minute on their

00:04:55.100 email to me last night. There was a cryptic reference in there. You see that one phrase,

00:05:00.480 harmful or dangerous acts? That's a list of things you can't do on YouTube. I read through the whole

00:05:08.920 thing very carefully. It's mainly a rule against crazy and dangerous things that we've just never

00:05:14.840 done. Here's an example. Acts involving high-risk activities such as skyscraper parkour or depicting

00:05:23.560 serious injury like skate slam aftermath. That's an example. Or pranks relating to suicide, death,

00:05:32.760 terrorism such as fake bomb scare pranks or threats with lethal weapons, sexually unwanted acts such as

00:05:41.120 forced kissing, groping, sexual abuse, spy cams in dress room. These are actual YouTube examples of what

00:05:50.040 they mean by harmful or dangerous ads. Have you ever seen anything like that on Rebel News? There's a list

00:05:57.780 of things they call medical misinformation like denying that certain medical conditions exist such

00:06:04.840 as HIV, COVID-19 and content claiming the vaccine will cause infertility, contain a microchip or be used

00:06:14.220 to euthanize parts of a population. Now we've never said those things. I don't think anyone actually knows

00:06:20.700 all the facts about the virus or the vaccines yet. But we haven't claimed that COVID doesn't exist or

00:06:26.620 that there's a microchip in the vaccine or anything wild at all like that. We just talk about the same

00:06:33.000 things everyone else does. It's the news and we're a news channel. If you've watched our videos, you know

00:06:38.720 our problem isn't really with the virus itself. It's the political response to the virus we're worried

00:06:44.060 about. The lockdowns, the violation of civil liberties, even police brutality. That's what we talk

00:06:49.780 about every day. We even put a little warning on the front of our videos about the pandemic, letting people

00:06:55.500 know that we are skeptics of the conventional wisdom. YouTube told us that that's all we needed

00:07:00.740 to do. So for no reason, YouTube has just gutted $400,000 from our Rebel News budget and they won't

00:07:10.940 even tell us why. Is it because we're skeptics of the lockdown? Is it because of political pressure

00:07:17.280 on them maybe? Is it because of what I showed you last week that the U.S. Navy and the Canadian Armed

00:07:22.640 Forces Special Operations Command paid an Arkansas defense contractor to try to spy on us? I mean,

00:07:30.280 that was really weird and creepy. Did those spy agencies pressure YouTube to demonetize us?

00:07:38.880 It wouldn't surprise me. I mean, we caught them spying on us. Or maybe it was Trudeau himself.

00:07:45.000 Trudeau has ordered police to remove our reporters from his press conferences. He's banned us from

00:07:51.180 attending public debates. And he even denounced us by name on the floor of Parliament.

00:07:56.180 It is disappointing to see the conservatives engage in peddling rebel media conspiracy theories.

00:08:01.960 Was it that? Or was it the fact that just last week we filed a lawsuit against the Heritage Minister,

00:08:09.080 Stephen Gilbeau, for blocking and censoring us? I haven't even had a chance to tell you about that

00:08:13.760 lawsuit yet. Imagine that. We sue him for censoring us, so he censors us. Is that what happened? I don't

00:08:21.820 know. YouTube won't tell us. I don't think we'll ever know. But I know that YouTube, which is owned by

00:08:28.380 Google, is a far-left organization politically that really doesn't like conservatives. And after Trump won

00:08:35.680 in 2016, they had a staff meeting at Google where they swore they would crack down on any conservative

00:08:42.700 YouTubers. Well, it took them four years, but it looks like they finally kept their promise. 0.91

00:08:47.480 This is step one. Their next step could be to shut us down. To hell with the 1.45 million YouTube

00:08:54.880 subscribers who love our content, who constantly give our videos 99% like-to-dislike ratios.

00:09:02.360 So what do we do after YouTube? We'll be working on our plan B for when the cancel mob comes for us.

00:09:10.420 We've already set up Rebel News channels on smaller rivals to YouTube, like the video website

00:09:16.500 BitChute and Rumble.com. That's a Canadian-based company that has a free speech orientation.

00:09:23.700 Dan Bongino and even Donald Trump Jr. use Rumble.com for their videos.

00:09:28.200 Starting today, we'll put all of our videos up on those sites and five other video alternatives, too.

00:09:38.500 And instead of driving traffic to YouTube by linking to YouTube from our Facebook and Twitter accounts,

00:09:44.540 we'll now send our people to those new upstart video channels, too. We'll still keep using YouTube.

00:09:50.500 We're not going to abandon the 1.45 million people there. We won't cut them off.

00:09:55.860 But we're going to let them know in every single video we upload to YouTube

00:10:00.340 that they have to tell us who they are, their name and email address,

00:10:04.780 or else when YouTube finally pulls the plug on us, we just won't be able to contact them anymore.

00:10:10.500 That's the main purpose for AfterYouTube.com, so that when YouTube kills us, which I fear they will,

00:10:18.300 our 1.45 million friends know where to find us, and we know where to find them.

00:10:24.880 Look, YouTube essentially said that if we stop talking about the lockdowns,

00:10:28.700 maybe they'll let us have ads again.

00:10:31.380 Well, I'll never censor myself or our reporters like that.

00:10:34.560 But we can't survive with a $400,000 a year hole in our company.

00:10:40.820 You've seen our new young reporters who are doing great work.

00:10:44.780 We just hired two new video editors, too.

00:10:47.820 We just hired a full-time lawyer to help us fight the fight-the-fines cases.

00:10:53.020 I suppose a normal company would just lay off seven or eight staff.

00:10:57.160 I mean, that's what the corporate media do.

00:10:59.280 BuzzFeed just bought the Huffington Post,

00:11:01.800 and they immediately laid off their entire Canadian staff.

00:11:05.920 They just care more about making money.

00:11:08.340 They don't actually believe anything.

00:11:10.900 Well, we believe in things here.

00:11:12.480 I do, and our whole staff does.

00:11:14.680 Our motto is to tell the other side of the story,

00:11:17.380 not to just repeat the story that YouTube wants us to tell.

00:11:20.980 So option one is to obey YouTube and become liberal.

00:11:24.540 No thanks.

00:11:25.840 Option two is to do what Huffington Post just did.

00:11:28.740 Just fire everyone to cut costs.

00:11:30.440 No thanks.

00:11:32.840 Option three is to do what I'm going to do,

00:11:35.860 to ask you to help me.

00:11:38.580 If you love Rebel News,

00:11:40.260 and you don't want to see us bend to the will of YouTube,

00:11:42.980 and you don't want to see us lay off staff,

00:11:45.240 then please help me.

00:11:47.100 Go to afteryoutube.com

00:11:49.120 and tell me your name and email address

00:11:51.160 so I know how to reach you when I'm finally deleted from YouTube.

00:11:54.800 You can unsubscribe from our list anytime,

00:11:57.220 and we'll never sell our list to anyone.

00:11:59.560 That's the first thing.

00:12:02.100 Second, sign up for our alternative video platforms.

00:12:06.840 You can see that right on the page at afteryoutube.com.

00:12:11.000 And number three, I have to ask,

00:12:13.340 not for me but for my team,

00:12:15.900 please help me replace the $400,000

00:12:18.300 that YouTube just took from us.

00:12:21.600 Please help me keep our editorial policy independent.

00:12:23.960 Please help me make payroll for all these new journalists.

00:12:28.020 And you can do that too right there at afteryoutube.com.

00:12:32.100 I'm sorry to ask for money,

00:12:33.660 but YouTube knows our pressure points, don't they?

00:12:37.160 They know we don't take money from Trudeau.

00:12:39.340 They know we don't take money from a big corporation.

00:12:42.000 So they know we really, really needed that $400,000 a year from them,

00:12:46.520 which is why they blocked that with no explanation.

00:12:49.720 Please don't let them win.

00:12:52.940 Please let us continue our important work.

00:12:55.960 Please help me replace the $400,000

00:12:58.000 that YouTube just took from us.

00:13:00.880 Go to afteryoutube.com to help.

00:13:04.260 Thank you, my friends.

00:13:06.040 I promise that if you give us the tools,

00:13:08.880 we'll finish the job.

00:13:10.120 Well, thank you for letting me tell you the story

00:13:23.700 about YouTube coming for us.

00:13:25.300 We have been preparing, hardening our systems.

00:13:28.380 Look, there's no way to say it.

00:13:29.820 Being booted off YouTube will be bad news for us.

00:13:32.600 It's the second largest search engine in the world,

00:13:35.120 and it is the largest video platform in the world.

00:13:37.660 We've got to be on there.

00:13:38.620 But it's not our choice, is it?

00:13:40.720 So if YouTube is going to kick us off,

00:13:42.460 my goal is to get as many people from YouTube

00:13:44.760 to follow us to other sites and to our own site.

00:13:48.280 I also have to make up the $400,000 hole in our boat

00:13:51.280 that YouTube is drilling.

00:13:52.500 That's going to be a little tougher.

00:13:54.440 But I want to talk to you about something else.

00:13:56.740 We've been so busy fighting back against YouTube today

00:14:00.000 that I want to, instead of interviewing Sheila,

00:14:02.700 because she's busy and we're busy,

00:14:04.140 I want to play for you a video she recorded

00:14:06.800 about some good news.

00:14:08.620 Pastor James Coates was finally released from prison,

00:14:12.120 where he outrageously spent more than a month in prison

00:14:15.220 for opening his church.

00:14:17.040 And I should tell you again that the crime,

00:14:18.960 the non-crime he was charged with,

00:14:20.680 if he was convicted of it,

00:14:21.760 it itself would not include a prison term.

00:14:24.120 That is real police state stuff,

00:14:25.980 and I don't like it one bit.

00:14:27.140 I'm embarrassed that it's happening in Canada,

00:14:29.340 let alone Alberta, which is supposed to be the freest place.

00:14:32.160 So let me throw to a video that Sheila recorded

00:14:35.320 about this happy day.

00:14:36.700 It's part of my house.

00:14:43.100 I don't know.

00:14:43.880 I don't know.

00:14:44.540 I don't know.

00:14:45.040 I don't know.

00:14:45.380 I don't know.

00:14:45.700 It's the here.

00:14:46.200 Yeah.

00:14:54.800 You're the other Somalia show from the Spanish 1.00

00:14:56.780 video.

00:14:57.120 Road traffic

00:15:01.480 The pandemon

00:15:04.440 It is a windy part

00:15:08.680 It's배away

00:15:13.680 We have a river

00:15:25.160 If so, this is not okay

00:16:16.140 Flirt

00:16:19.600 There we go.

00:16:36.400 You guys!

00:16:48.240 Yeah?

00:16:56.720 That guy puts your hand.

00:16:59.220 Yeah!

00:17:03.340 I told you to take off your laces. 1.00

00:17:25.800 I think you're going to break out your shoelace.

00:17:28.820 No.

00:17:33.340 It should be in my bags.

00:18:03.340 I need to just transfer some money to a guy.

00:18:25.140 You need a new car.

00:18:26.140 I need a...

00:18:27.140 It's in this one.

00:18:29.140 Sure, yeah.

00:18:32.140 Thank you.

00:18:33.140 Yeah, no worries.

00:18:39.140 Oh, there it is.

00:18:41.140 Oh, there we go.

00:19:11.140 Oh, there we go.

00:19:41.140 Yes, it's trying to silence us, but it will not work.

00:19:45.040 We are bigger than that.

00:19:46.900 I want to stay on YouTube as long as possible.

00:19:49.540 I'd like to have our monetization back, but they're not going to crush us and they sure

00:19:55.300 aren't going to tell us what we can or can't say.

00:19:57.760 If you can, look, I know we already have your email address if you're watching this because

00:20:02.480 you're a member of our Rebel News Plus, but for over a million people out there who watch

00:20:08.520 our stuff, we just don't know who they are.

00:20:10.700 And getting those names and taking them with us is the sure way to beat you too.

00:20:15.700 Anyways, that's our story for today.

00:20:17.340 Thanks for joining us and thanks as always for your support.

00:20:19.560 Don't you worry.

00:20:20.560 We'll get through this until tomorrow.

00:20:22.480 On behalf of all of us here at Rebel World Headquarters to you at home, good night and

00:20:26.700 keep fighting for freedom.
