00:00:00.000 The new Lord of the Rings series spinoff, The Rings of Power, has been released on Amazon.
00:00:04.620 25 million people tuned in to watch the first day, thinking it would be like Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings,
00:00:11.340 but it was far from magical and moving.
00:00:13.980 The writing is weak, it lacks a powerful storyline, and has no soul.
00:00:19.720 It's supposed to tell the story of Sauron's rise to power,
00:00:22.580 but it feels like they are more concerned with making it progressive.
00:00:25.940 Feminist lead? Check. 1.00
00:00:27.380 Black and other non-white elves, hobbits, and dwarves? Check. 1.00
00:00:31.480 But of course, there was no diversity to be found among the orcs.
00:00:36.160 Let's take a look at a few scenes.
00:00:38.960 Why?
00:00:41.480 Look like a badger. Maybe a fox.
00:00:44.140 More likely a half foot.
00:00:45.960 Half foot?
00:00:46.920 Don't care to be seen, none.
00:00:49.080 But if you do, watch yourself.
00:00:53.040 Dangerous creatures they are.
00:00:57.380 Clear and clear.
00:01:06.200 Clear.
00:01:06.760 Oh, we know.
00:01:21.640 Oh, the onion I'd scooped, do not instant.
00:01:35.520 Sheet.
00:01:36.200 Oh, dear.
00:01:38.500 Has it really been a fortnight already?
00:01:41.160 Been a starfall.
00:01:42.240 A big one.
00:01:46.560 How many signs do you need?
00:01:49.940 Ask me.
00:01:51.040 We ought to break camp at this moment.
00:01:53.220 What about the festival?
00:01:54.620 Let's not do anything rash just yet.
00:01:56.920 More likely we're safer in camp than we are out.
00:01:59.540 How bad is it?
00:02:20.760 Can you migrate?
00:02:21.380 You, Tom, wouldn't put the weight of a leaf on that leg, much less pull a cart.
00:02:32.120 Mind your own fire, Mother. 0.69
00:02:33.120 I fear so, fair lady. 0.95
00:02:44.000 Durin didn't tell me you were coming.
00:02:46.180 Durin didn't know.
00:02:47.820 I've been remiss in not visiting sooner.
00:02:51.160 An oversight for which I am here to humbly ask forgiveness.
00:02:54.900 You're staying for dinner.
00:02:56.000 He's leaving.
00:02:56.900 He's staying.
00:02:57.700 He's leaving.
00:02:58.460 He's staying.
00:02:59.220 He's staying.
00:02:59.280 You ready?
00:03:15.440 Yes, Mother.
00:03:16.540 I'm ready.
00:03:22.040 Blacks, Puerto Ricans, Indians, Iranians, Afro-Latinos, 0.88
00:03:27.240 and several other concoctions I don't know about. 0.79
00:03:30.820 Please.
00:03:31.520 There are no non-white elves, dwarves, and hobbits.
00:03:34.460 Period.
00:03:34.880 This is European mythology.
00:03:36.740 End of story.
00:03:38.120 The non-white actors mentioned in an interview that diversity was talked about
00:03:42.540 and that they were aware the production was introducing much more diversity,
00:03:46.800 more equal representation to Middle Earth.
00:03:49.500 The woman who played the black dwarf princess that we showed said,
00:03:53.660 this series is not only a cinematic revolution, but a revolution of Tolkien's work.
00:03:59.240 The black elf man said he was happy to be a disruptor in this series, 1.00
00:04:03.120 much like the guy in Star Wars, the black man in Star Wars. 0.97
00:04:05.740 They know they don't belong, and they know that they are anti-white. 0.89
00:04:09.740 This series was the most expensive TV series ever made,
00:04:13.220 which spent more than $700 million on the first season,
00:04:16.260 including the rights to adapt J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
00:04:21.380 Tolkien was a masterful writer of high fantasy and an academic.
00:04:25.280 Although living in the UK, he was of German stock.
00:04:27.500 His family originated in eastern Prussia.
00:04:30.020 He died in 1973.
00:04:32.040 J.R.R. Tolkien sold the rights to Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit
00:04:35.320 to United Artists in 1968 for just £100,000
00:04:39.860 in order to settle a tax bill from his royalties.
00:04:43.660 Yeah.
00:04:43.780 Well, nothing really came of that.
00:04:45.840 The rights were sold to Tolkien Enterprises,
00:04:48.100 a division of the Saul Zentz Company, a Jewish man,
00:04:51.460 and the first film was released in 1978.
00:04:54.860 Later, the rights ended up in the hands of New Line Cinema,
00:04:57.800 who produced Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
00:05:00.980 In 2017, Amazon purchased rights to make this cringe TV show,
00:05:06.260 some of the clips we just played for you.
00:05:08.020 The Tolkien estate initially approached Peter Jackson
00:05:10.820 to give input on the series, but then later ignored him.
00:05:14.740 Christopher Tolkien, son of J.R.R. Tolkien,
00:05:17.340 didn't like Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings
00:05:19.300 as he thought there was too much action in it
00:05:21.680 and that it was aimed for 15 to 25-year-olds.
00:05:25.040 He didn't think the film did justice to the beauty and intricacy
00:05:28.240 of his father's world building.
00:05:30.140 I disagree.
00:05:31.020 Peter Jackson, I think, did an excellent job, 0.99
00:05:33.320 much better than this crap we just saw. 0.92
00:05:34.940 Christopher Tolkien stepped down as chair of the Tolkien estate in 2017 0.98
00:05:38.260 before passing away in 2020.
00:05:41.240 The estate and the Tolkien Trust were originally run by his four kids
00:05:44.680 who have all died, so it's in the hands of his grandchildren.
00:05:48.180 Simon Tolkien, a grandson, was the consultant on this Amazon TV series,
00:05:52.900 and apparently he's much happier with this version than Peter Jackson's
00:05:57.300 and says this series does justice to his grandfather's work.
00:06:00.600 He's married to Tracy Steinberg, who is Jewish.
00:06:04.180 I'm sure she had some input on adding diversity into the series
00:06:07.100 to make it less European.
00:06:09.060 Several of the white actors were a bit odd-looking.
00:06:11.840 It's like they just couldn't feature beautiful Europeans. 1.00
00:06:15.060 We don't get to see that much anymore.
00:06:16.980 By the way, the Tolkien Trust sued New Line Cinema in 2008,
00:06:20.380 the studio behind the trilogy,
00:06:21.900 claiming that they had not received even one penny from the films.
00:06:25.600 I'm not shocked.
00:06:26.840 It was resolved out of court.
00:06:28.300 But I think Papa Tolkien would have hated Rings of Power,
00:06:32.580 not just because it has been commercialized,
00:06:34.760 but because it has been politicized and destroyed, subverted by Europhobes.
00:06:40.260 Yeah, so this was expected, of course.
00:06:41.960 These memes came out before it was even announced, really,
00:06:45.380 that they were going to do it super diverse.
00:06:47.060 I think there were some rumors in the beginning,
00:06:48.540 like, oh, finally we can break the anti-white,
00:06:50.880 or the white supremacy, rather, in the Lord of the Rings, right?
00:06:54.860 Because it's a long tradition here, really,
00:06:57.000 of all these actors and actresses complaining, right?
00:07:00.420 As you said, one of the stars now,
00:07:02.400 she claimed she had watched the Lord of the Rings,
00:07:04.460 but it was difficult to watch them
00:07:06.280 because there was so little diversity there.
00:07:08.860 So, again, it's all about, like,
00:07:09.980 fine for them to walk all over our European stories, right?
00:07:13.320 And representing them everywhere.
00:07:16.200 That's fine.
00:07:16.820 If every white person would be replaced in Lord of the Rings, 0.86
00:07:18.800 these people wouldn't bat an eyelid, basically.
00:07:22.060 So it's the same thing every single time.
00:07:24.740 This is always the goal, right?
00:07:26.120 There's been several other articles that detail this to
00:07:28.660 throughout the years.
00:07:30.320 Dear Tolkien fans, black people exist. 1.00
00:07:32.620 Well, great.
00:07:33.260 You exist.
00:07:33.940 So why do we have to put blacks in all of our stories? 0.99
00:07:37.360 Just watch it and enjoy it if you're a fan, right?
00:07:40.080 Yeah, no, no.
00:07:40.740 It's about this.
00:07:41.260 They did this with Star Wars.
00:07:42.960 They've done this with every successful franchise.
00:07:44.820 We can't have anything that is ours.
00:07:46.900 No, of course not.
00:07:47.500 That's the point.
00:07:47.760 The conversation was totally really racist.
00:07:49.460 And if we had had something that's ours that's been very successful,
00:07:52.140 they have to remake it and reimagine it with all these diverse characters.
00:07:57.820 Yeah, I mean, and then you have the other segment, of course,
00:08:00.360 that people go and they complain on it, right?
00:08:03.680 And now, oh, we've got to shut down the reviews, right?
00:08:07.000 It's the same thing happens with all these stories, right? 0.95
00:08:08.440 All those racist white supremacists who didn't like it, right? 0.90
00:08:11.300 It's getting review-bombed, they said here. 0.95
00:08:13.620 This is a Hollywood report.
00:08:14.380 Review-bombing is when a group of users post numerous negative reviews
00:08:17.520 due to perceived cultural or political issues rather than actual quality.
00:08:23.940 No, it's you're making it political because that's where you're replacing white people. 0.87
00:08:27.900 So anyway, so they had to, what was it, shut it down for, let me see,
00:08:31.940 I think Sarah Hedge has it here.
00:08:33.160 They had to shut it down for like 72 hours, I think, the Amazon reviews or something like that,
00:08:38.180 just to try to control all the negative reviews.
00:08:40.380 They claimed that it was like record numbers watching and all that stuff.
00:08:45.200 25 million watches the first time.
00:08:45.740 Well, yeah, they probably dropped in to see it.
00:08:47.620 I did for review purposes, right?
00:08:49.500 Yeah.
00:08:49.880 But most people probably were just curious or they thought it was going to be as cool as Peter Jackson's
00:08:55.280 and then they were highly disappointed.
00:08:57.620 I hope so. 0.97
00:08:58.280 I hope it wakes up some people like, damn it, that's the straw that broke the candles back. 0.97
00:09:01.780 They spent all this money, but it's meh, nothing special. 0.99
00:09:05.300 You know, you can just feel the subversion coming through.
00:09:07.920 It doesn't work.
00:09:10.040 It doesn't have any of that magic to it at all.
00:09:12.220 And some of the costumes, I mean, you can see that they've spent money on it,
00:09:15.180 but it's obviously still not as good as the movies.
00:09:17.200 Yeah, of course.
00:09:17.600 And so even the effects and the, you know, costumes or the masks that they wear and stuff
00:09:22.160 is not as good and I don't know.
00:09:24.000 It's just – but the point is what people have to remember, you know,
00:09:27.840 is that this is strictly – this is like a Germanic, Anglo-Norse kind of saga really
00:09:35.180 that Tolkien, you know, kind of laid out.
00:09:37.980 Very Euro-pagan. 0.74
00:09:39.340 Right, Silmarillion, that's like he claims that he did research on the Kalevala, the Finnish epic.
00:09:44.580 Like he took a lot from Norse mythology, even the language he created and stuff.
00:09:48.480 It's our story.
00:09:49.300 It's like a fictionalized version kind of of our story.
00:09:52.840 Some people have been claiming that there's, you know, more to it than that,
00:09:54.900 but we don't have to go that deep.
00:09:55.920 You know, this is like pre – the pre – you know, prehistory of like European ancient
00:10:00.880 Indo-Aryans basically, right?
00:10:02.900 But anyway, even if that's true or not, it doesn't really matter.
00:10:05.000 It's become a symbol of our story and it was successful. 0.99
00:10:08.800 And so the point is they got to shit all over it. 0.99
00:10:11.300 It doesn't matter if it makes money or not. 0.99
00:10:13.000 It doesn't matter. 0.99
00:10:13.620 It's about taking the whole Tolkien universe and then just smearing their shit all over it. 0.99
00:10:18.880 That is what it's about at the end of the day. 0.98
00:10:21.400 But anyway, I hope it wakes up some people.
00:10:23.500 It still doesn't destroy the older works.
00:10:26.120 It's just there as like an illegitimate spawn, I guess, a devil spawn of the beautiful original saga that Tolkien actually wrote.
00:10:34.800 And isn't it interesting how you can tell from the generations you had Tolkien and then you have his kids
00:10:39.860 and then the grandkids, it just gets progressively worse and more liberal?
00:10:43.600 Yeah. 1.00
00:10:43.940 And then here's his grandkids like helping sell the rights to this crap. 0.99
00:10:47.740 And like, oh, now it's perfect. 0.99
00:10:49.180 It's better than Peter Jackson's.
00:10:50.520 Are you kidding me?
00:10:51.320 Do you know how much money actually like Simon or some of the others got for the series?
00:10:58.420 I couldn't see that.
00:10:59.080 But he was a consultant on it.
00:11:00.800 That's it's probably like under wraps the number of that, to be honest.
00:11:04.540 I wonder how much of the 718 million was included of like purchasing the rights.
00:11:08.840 It was.
00:11:09.460 Yeah, I don't know how much.
00:11:10.580 I don't know.
00:11:11.320 A chunk of that, I'm sure.
00:11:12.240 But that shows you.
00:11:13.380 I mean, if they had some spine and courage or some backbone, they would just not sell their father's work and not let this happen.
00:11:20.060 But no, everyone has a price.
00:11:22.840 You know what I mean? 0.99
00:11:23.420 But no, it sucks. 0.99
00:11:25.080 Not a big surprise. 0.94
