00:00:00.620 Peace through strength, clarity, courage.
00:00:04.500 That's what the world needs right now.
00:00:06.260 That's what the church understands right now.
00:00:08.400 Thankfully, J.D. Vance understands that.
00:00:11.440 We will hear from him today.
00:00:13.180 And I've got a message for you from the Word of God that I hope encourages you.
00:00:18.040 They're not my words.
00:00:19.560 They're not my thoughts.
00:00:20.720 They are God's thoughts.
00:00:22.740 And they give us so much boldness for today.
00:00:25.080 And so I hope this gives you the bravery that you need.
00:00:29.740 This episode is brought to you by our friends at Good Ranchers.

00:00:45.660 Hey, guys.
00:00:46.480 Welcome to Relatable.
00:00:47.280 Happy Wednesday.
00:00:48.140 Hope everyone is having a great week so far.
00:00:51.100 Vice President J.D. Vance guest hosted Charlie Kirk's show yesterday.
00:00:56.500 And he had some words for the country and especially for those who are celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk.
00:01:05.240 Here's that one.
00:01:06.060 There is no unity with people who scream at children over their parents' politics.
00:01:11.620 There is no unity with someone who lies about what Charlie Kirk said in order to excuse his murder.
00:01:17.260 There is no unity with someone who harasses an innocent family the day after the father of that family lost a dear friend.
00:01:25.620 There is no unity with the people who celebrate Charlie Kirk's assassination.
00:01:30.620 And there is no unity with the people who fund these articles, who pay the salaries of these terrorist sympathizers,
00:01:37.100 who argue that Charlie Kirk, a loving husband and father, deserved a shot to the neck because he spoke words with which they disagree.
00:01:48.300 He's absolutely right.
00:01:49.940 Look, as Christians, we are called to try to make peace with everyone.
00:01:53.620 But making peace with people does not mean being weak.
00:01:57.380 It doesn't mean being a doormat.
00:01:59.180 It means sometimes that we have to restrain evil and punish wickedness on behalf of the most vulnerable.
00:02:07.180 People get very confused sometimes about Jesus's commands to turn the other cheek and to forgive and to pray for our enemies and pray for those who persecute us.
00:02:16.200 All of those things are true.
00:02:17.700 All of those things are commands for the Christian and they are countercultural.
00:02:21.220 They are definitely against any kind of spirit of anger and bitterness and vengeance when it comes to our personal relationships.
00:02:30.600 People apply that wrongly to how the government is supposed to act.
00:02:35.600 When we say, well, we need to punish crime or we need to use the death penalty to punish those who commit this kind of murder,
00:02:43.740 people will say, well, Jesus said to turn the other cheek.
00:02:46.940 And I just want to take you through that logic for a second.
00:02:49.200 If you're saying that Jesus's commands apply to the government, then you would be saying that we should not punish crime at all.
00:02:57.640 Because if we should turn the other cheek when people commit these heinous crimes of rape or assault or murder,
00:03:05.200 that would mean that we also shouldn't put them in jail.
00:03:08.520 And surely I haven't met anyone yet who believes that.
00:03:12.480 So I think we have to think a little bit more deeply about what it means to make peace
00:03:17.400 and what it means to turn the other cheek.
00:03:19.880 What it actually means in these passages is to conduct ourselves in our interpersonal communication,
00:03:26.480 in our relationships with grace and forgiveness and foregoing all hypocrisy
00:03:32.480 and the kind of resentment that builds up between people,
00:03:35.880 understanding that God in Christ has forgiven us so much.
00:03:39.720 And so there is grace.
00:03:41.000 There is a possibility for repentance and for salvation and for spiritual mercy for this person who killed Charlie Kirk.
00:03:49.180 And I pray that.
00:03:50.340 I pray that the Holy Spirit would enter his heart, that he would change,
00:03:53.440 that he would see the gravity of what he did and the state of his sinful self apart from Christ bound for hell.
00:04:00.280 I pray that for him.
00:04:01.560 But that does not negate earthly justice.
00:04:04.920 Because what we see, specifically in Romans 13, that the state, the government, does not bear the sword in vain.
00:04:12.880 That is not an analogy.
00:04:14.580 That is not a metaphor.
00:04:16.340 The sword there is a symbol of execution.
00:04:19.160 And when we're talking specifically about this particular person that committed this crime against Charlie Kirk and committed this murder,
00:04:31.840 we go all the way back to Genesis 9 in the Noahic Covenant, before the establishment of Israel, before the establishment of any civilization.
00:04:39.320 When God says that if you commit murder, then you should be executed.
00:04:46.420 If you shed another's blood, if you shed the blood of an innocent person, then your blood will be shed.
00:04:51.760 Why?
00:04:52.820 It's not from any circumstantial reason.
00:04:55.740 It wasn't for some cultural reason.
00:04:58.260 It's for a reason that is still true today because man is made in God's image.
00:05:04.440 So I just want you to understand that, yes, as Christians, we should be peacemakers and we should seek to forgive.
00:05:12.300 That does not mean that we do not have the responsibility to compel and advocate to our government to exact earthly justice.
00:05:22.340 We've talked many times, especially in 2020.
00:05:25.620 What does biblical justice look like?
00:05:27.900 It's not social justice.
00:05:29.500 It's not collectively maligning one group because of their socioeconomic status or race.
00:05:34.440 And alleviating all guilt from another group.
00:05:38.220 It's not an oppressed versus oppressor dichotomy.
00:05:41.440 It's not taking away the wealth and the privilege from one group and trying to redistribute it to another group.
00:05:46.280 That's not what justice looks like.
00:05:47.720 We can look at God's law giving to Israel and his character throughout Scripture to look at what justice should look like.
00:05:53.980 If we are going to abide by the creator's rules that the founders abided by.
00:06:00.500 God's definition of justice is proportional.
00:06:03.140 Proportional, it is impartial, it is truthful, and it is direct.
00:06:07.300 Proportional, impartial, truthful, and direct.
00:06:11.320 People are very confused about what justice needs to look like today.
00:06:15.980 And even though J.D. Vance right there, he's not talking about the death penalty.
00:06:19.920 I don't think I know his personal stance on the death penalty, particularly as a Catholic.
00:06:24.780 Many Catholics are against it.
00:06:27.380 But I do hear him crying out for justice.
00:06:30.960 I do hear him emphasizing the government's job to restrain evil.
00:06:37.220 To do everything we can to root out evil.
00:06:39.380 That's the same thing I heard Stephen Miller say in the clip that we played on Monday.
00:06:43.100 So I appreciate this kind of strength.
00:06:45.580 This is not the time for kumbaya.
00:06:47.820 It's not the time for kumbaya.
00:06:49.280 I'm not saying that we should be trying to stoke division because ultimately this is not left versus right.
00:06:55.400 It's not.
00:06:56.260 It's good versus evil.
00:06:57.920 That's what it is.
00:06:58.920 And after George Floyd died, what did we see?
00:07:02.020 We saw arson.
00:07:03.240 We saw looting.
00:07:04.780 We saw destruction.
00:07:06.240 We saw violence.
00:07:07.580 We saw people scared to leave their homes.
00:07:09.340 We saw businesses boarding up their windows.
00:07:12.080 We saw people of all races be murdered by these rioters.
00:07:16.340 Never forget St. Louis police officer, former police officer David Dorn.
00:07:21.240 He was a black man who was killed by rioters.
00:07:25.540 Never forget Sequoia Turner.
00:07:27.420 She was a little eight-year-old girl who was killed by BLM rioters in Atlanta, Georgia a few years ago.
00:07:34.780 Has that happened in the wake of the death of one of the right's heroes?
00:07:39.280 George Floyd wasn't even a hero for the left.
00:07:41.740 He wasn't even someone that people knew.
00:07:43.860 He was just kind of a symbol of something that people on the left think is systemic, and it's actually not.
00:07:51.100 But Charlie Kirk, he was someone that millions and millions of people on our side around the world admired.
00:07:56.800 Have we seen anyone scared to leave their homes?
00:07:59.380 Have we seen any business board up their windows?
00:08:02.900 Are police officers scared for their lives right now?
00:08:06.580 Do we see violence in the streets?
00:08:08.740 Do we see plans of vengeance coming to fruition?
00:08:12.900 No.
00:08:14.320 It is good versus evil.
00:08:16.900 And it's about time that we see that.
00:08:19.240 And I love this kind of clear language from J.D. Vance.
00:08:23.240 To have this kind of moral clarity in the White House is so incredibly important.
00:08:30.360 It is so meaningful for a country.
00:08:32.780 And what I can pray is that justice, true, biblical, proportionate, impartial justice manifests itself.
00:08:41.720 And that this administration, if it accomplishes nothing else, that it would accomplish its godly responsibility, its God-given obligation to restrain evil on behalf of the most vulnerable.
00:08:55.780 I've always said that one way to love your neighbor, one way to love your neighbor is to fight crime.
00:09:03.500 One way to show compassion for the most vulnerable, to stand up for the truly marginalized, the truly defenseless, is to do everything you can to stop violence in the streets and to protect them from those who give no regard to their well-being.
00:09:20.760 And so this is the righteous obligation of the government to do what they can to put a stop to evil.
00:09:27.960 Okay, we've got a lot more to say about J.D. Vance's comments on Charlie Kirk's podcast.
00:09:33.080 But let me go ahead and remind you, Share the Errors is coming up, y'all.
00:09:35.980 It's coming up on October 11th.
00:09:37.700 It is, wow, it is going to be here so soon.
00:09:40.980 And we are expecting 5,000 Christian women from across the country to be there singing in unison,
00:09:47.560 Is He Worthy?
00:09:48.820 This is My Father's World.
00:09:50.780 In Christ Alone, just to give you a little bit of a taste of what the worship will look like.
00:09:55.540 And I can tell you from being there last year, this is such a special conference.
00:10:02.540 It is, by the grace of God, Holy Spirit inspired.
00:10:05.960 And I've talked to every one of the speakers.
00:10:08.420 They are fired up.
00:10:09.360 Last year was right before the election, so we were fired up.
00:10:11.840 We were all coming together.
00:10:12.840 We didn't know what was going to happen.
00:10:14.280 We were nervous.
00:10:15.000 We needed to remind ourselves that God is on His throne, that He is sovereign, that we've got each other's backs,
00:10:20.200 that we are standing up for one another.
00:10:21.960 We are linking arms with each other.
00:10:23.660 We had fellowship.
00:10:24.540 We had worship.
00:10:25.180 We had teaching.
00:10:25.800 I had no idea that we were going to be in such a similar but even more monumental moment this year,
00:10:33.760 that I think we need it more this year than we did last year.
00:10:36.180 And if you're thinking that, too, if you feel that fire burning, you don't know what to do with it,

00:12:15.660 Go to CozyEarth.com.
00:12:16.820 Code RELATABLE.
00:12:17.480 Okay, so he's got a word for the people who are celebrating or excusing or downplaying
00:12:28.380 in any way this horrible assassination sought for.
00:12:33.420 So when you see someone celebrating Charlie's murder, call them out in hell.
00:12:38.060 Call their employer.
00:12:39.340 We don't believe in political violence, but we do believe in civility.
00:12:43.420 And there is no civility in the celebration of political assassination.
00:12:47.040 It's what I said yesterday.
00:12:50.100 It's what a lot of people have been saying, that there are consequences for celebrating
00:12:56.280 someone's assassination.
00:12:57.680 It's not cancel culture.
00:12:59.380 It's not your political opinion.
00:13:01.280 No, you've got a character problem.
00:13:02.800 Like, you're probably possessed by a demon.
00:13:04.600 And if you're possessed by a demon, I don't want you to be a pediatric nurse.
00:13:07.640 Call me crazy.
00:13:09.660 Like, I don't want you to be a therapist.
00:13:12.340 I don't want you working at the old folks' home.
00:13:14.240 I don't want you to be a kindergarten teacher.
00:13:15.840 I don't want you to be a professor shaping the minds of future leaders and voters.
00:13:20.180 No, thank you.
00:13:21.360 No, thank you.
00:13:21.940 It's a character problem.
00:13:23.320 It's a liability for everyone involved.
00:13:26.820 So yes, you should be calling the employer of people who are out and out celebrating or
00:13:32.860 excusing Charlie Kirk's assassination.
00:13:35.240 There has to be social ostracization for those people.
00:13:39.580 As Stephen Miller said yesterday, we will not live in fear, but you will live in exile.
00:13:44.140 That is what the justice system is for when people are actually committing crimes.
00:13:49.940 I'm not talking about punishing people legally for their speech, but when people are actually
00:13:54.760 committing crimes, these cells of violence and radicalization that we're seeing across
00:13:58.280 the country, our justice system is supposed to go after those.
00:14:01.580 And when it comes to people who are celebrating this assassination, there are social consequences
00:14:07.340 for that.
00:14:08.620 Overton window is shifting, baby.
00:14:11.100 And if you didn't want that to happen, shouldn't have killed the nicest guy on the right.
00:14:16.040 All right.
00:14:16.800 He's got more to say.
00:14:18.220 Here's top five.
00:14:18.980 St. Paul tells us in the book of Ephesians to put on the full armor of God.
00:14:26.500 Let all of us put on that armor and commit ourselves to that cause for which Charlie gave
00:14:32.160 his life, to rebuild a united states of America and to do it by telling the truth.
00:14:39.380 Yep.
00:14:41.840 Speaking the truth in love.
00:14:45.100 Don't partner with darkness, but instead expose it.
00:14:49.600 That's what the book of Ephesians tells us to do.
00:14:51.320 There's so much wisdom in the book of Ephesians.
00:14:53.560 My friend and I, I feel like I've probably told you this before, but I can't remember.
00:14:57.920 My friend and I, when we were in college, we decided to memorize the whole book of Ephesians,
00:15:02.440 which I don't think there's another book that I've memorized in full.
00:15:05.440 I've memorized lots of bits and pieces of the Bible over time, but we decided to memorize
00:15:10.760 and recite to each other just for fun, the entire book of Ephesians.
00:15:15.000 And y'all, I am so thankful that I did that.
00:15:17.860 I really encourage you to challenge yourself in that way because you have heard me do it.
00:15:22.520 You've heard me just tell you Ephesians 2, and I keep going and going because like 13
00:15:28.100 years ago, my friend and I decided to memorize it and recite it.
00:15:32.140 And it really does hide the word in your heart.
00:15:34.120 And you're just reminded of the gospel all the time.
00:15:37.340 You're reminded of these verses all of the time because you have it locked away in your
00:15:43.740 head.
00:15:44.100 So, wow, what a gift it is to hide God's word in your heart and how amazing it is that
00:15:48.800 it is living and active, that every time something happens, it bubbles up.
00:15:54.680 And God is so good that he has given us his will in his word so that we don't have to wonder
00:15:59.560 what he thinks or wonder what to do next.
00:16:02.180 But this ancient text that is always applicable to us in every single moment is ministering
00:16:09.140 to our hearts when we read Scripture and when we memorize Scripture.
00:16:14.560 And you know what?
00:16:15.180 Because I forgot this, I want to tell you on that note something really amazing.
00:16:20.340 Crossway and I are partnering together to give away 500 of the Concise ESV Study Bibles.
00:16:26.680 So it's really amazing that they are willing to do this.
00:16:29.640 We reached out to them and we said, what can we do?
00:16:31.960 We want people to be reading the Bible.
00:16:33.900 We don't want them to have to pay for it.
00:16:35.300 So all you have to do is click the link in this description.
00:16:37.660 We'll put it at the top of the description, whether you're listening or you're watching,
00:16:40.760 and it will be totally for free.
00:16:42.740 You don't have to pay for shipping.
00:16:44.100 You don't have to pay anything.
00:16:45.020 If you want to read the Bible, then get this study Bible and start in the book of John.
00:16:50.020 So we would love for you to get one of these Bibles and to dig into it.
00:16:57.360 Maybe you could even start in the book of Ephesians since I was just talking about that.
00:17:01.140 But it's so important to know and understand truth right now.
00:17:05.200 So there's this other clip from J.D. Vance where he basically recites the Nicene Creed,
00:17:11.960 and the Nicene Creed in general is what unites kind of Catholics and Protestants that generally
00:17:17.420 we agree on the principles here.
00:17:19.300 So I thought that this was really good.
00:17:21.020 I mean, this is so much of the gospel that is being publicized in Charlie's name to millions
00:17:27.040 of people.
00:17:27.480 So praise God for that.
00:17:28.520 Now, the most important truth Charlie told is this, that long ago, a man begotten, not
00:17:36.880 made, came down from heaven and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and
00:17:43.800 became man.
00:17:45.060 For our sake, he was crucified under Pontius Pilate and suffered death and was buried and
00:17:51.080 rose again on the third day.
00:17:52.520 Charlie believed, as I do, that all the truth he told flowed from that fundamental principle.
00:18:03.720 Yes, and amen.
00:18:05.060 So I just thought that was a beautiful tribute.
00:18:07.040 I thought that it balanced strength and faith and hope and peace really well.
00:18:13.220 Again, a muscular peace, not a doormat peace.
00:18:16.660 And that is what we need right now.
00:18:18.520 We need peace through strength, not just externally, but internally as well.
00:18:23.240 As I've said before, when, you know, before Charlie, like we all thought on the right, we
00:18:29.640 were bringing words, we were bringing beliefs, but they were bringing weapons and they were
00:18:34.260 bringing bullets.
00:18:35.320 And this is a very different battle than the one that we thought.
00:18:40.680 And we still want peace.
00:18:42.540 We still want civility.
00:18:44.080 We don't want a civil war here.
00:18:45.740 But again, in order to do that, we have to root out evil.
00:18:50.160 Now, on Monday, we talked about all of the revival, the awakening that we are seeing across
00:18:55.620 the country.
00:18:56.360 These so many people who have reached out to me personally, people that I've known in
00:19:00.480 life, also just followers and fans sending me messages saying, I'm going to church.
00:19:05.460 I'm reading my Bible.
00:19:06.760 I'm praying.
00:19:07.760 I dreamed about Charlie.
00:19:09.220 This shook me.
00:19:10.260 Um, I was talking to my makeup artist this morning and she was so deeply affected by Charlie's
00:19:16.160 death.
00:19:16.480 And of course she didn't, she didn't know him personally, but it is comforting to me when
00:19:22.480 I talk to so many people who feel because Charlie was murdered that they lost something.
00:19:29.480 And it's sad, of course, but the reason that it is assuring is because I know that this
00:19:35.620 has changed everything, it's changed everything ultimately, I think, in a way that God will
00:19:43.020 bring glory to himself and that will lead to change that will be good for the country.
00:19:48.800 Now, would I have chosen, would anyone have chosen for it to go this way?
00:19:53.080 No, absolutely not.
00:19:55.360 I hate that Charlie was an impetus for anything.
00:19:58.320 I wish that there could have been a revival and reawakening without this.
00:20:03.280 And I do think that that had already kind of been started, but again, God is in the
00:20:08.860 business of redemption.
00:20:10.360 He is in the business of making beauty out of ashes and thwarting Satan's schemes.
00:20:15.760 And when Satan thinks he's winning, when he thinks that he's taken someone out of the
00:20:19.820 fight, God does something good.
00:20:23.360 God does something incredible by bringing glory to himself.
00:20:27.260 I've got more on that in a second.

00:21:39.820 Thank you.
00:21:40.320 Thank you.
00:21:40.820 Thank you.
00:21:44.920 I just want to play you this clip of Forrest Frank.
00:21:48.040 A lot of people are saying that they lost followers, they lost friends, they had to block
00:21:53.620 people because they said something about Charlie Kirk.
00:21:58.300 And, you know, Forrest, as I've talked about, we did a segment, Charlie and I did, on Fox and
00:22:03.760 Friends on the rise in Christian music.
00:22:07.040 And I said that there is genuinely good music now that is glorifying God.
00:22:11.400 And I talked about going to a Forrest Frank concert and Charlie had talked about Forrest
00:22:16.240 Frank before.
00:22:17.180 And so Forrest just did this kind of like a dedication video to Charlie, didn't make a
00:22:22.660 political statement or anything like that.
00:22:24.960 And I guess he got backlash.
00:22:27.020 Well, after he got backlash, this is what Forrest had to say.
00:22:30.100 30,000 people unfollowed me because I posted about Charlie Kirk and I said that Jesus Christ
00:22:35.940 is Lord.
00:22:36.980 Good.
00:22:37.820 I don't want you to follow me.
00:22:39.600 I don't want you to track my music.
00:22:41.300 I don't want you to come to my shows.
00:22:43.640 I don't want you to do any of that if you don't do this one thing.
00:22:46.580 And that is follow Jesus Christ, the King of all kings, the Lord of all lords, the one
00:22:51.000 who is the one who is to come.
00:22:52.700 He's coming back real soon.
00:22:54.120 So if you have not gotten your heart right with him and dropped down on your knees and
00:22:57.900 repented to him, today is the day.
00:23:00.680 The hour is at hand.
00:23:02.200 I don't know if you can feel it, too.
00:23:03.580 There's a heaviness.
00:23:04.420 Something shifted.
00:23:05.520 And I don't care.
00:23:06.480 I don't care anymore.
00:23:07.460 I just want you to know that Jesus Christ is here and he loves you.
00:23:11.480 Okay, like that's just I just want y'all to know out there, especially y'all who just
00:23:15.540 maybe aren't plugged into our side of things.
00:23:18.180 That's the vibe.
00:23:19.520 Okay, like that's the shift.
00:23:21.240 That's what's happening.
00:23:22.460 And the fact that he said that he repents for not being bolder in his platform, someone
00:23:27.860 that I think very unapologetically shares the gospel, but maybe he feels like he's been
00:23:32.420 reticent to say some things that are true for fear of backlash, like that is really big.
00:23:37.820 And I just appreciate that so much.
00:23:40.920 Elisa Childers, she's going to be speaking at Share the Arrows.
00:23:43.560 She's an apologist.
00:23:44.440 She's amazing.
00:23:45.320 She posted on X a confession that a few years ago she was asked to speak at a conference
00:23:50.460 with Charlie, but she believed some of the progressive lies about Charlie, that he was
00:23:54.460 divisive or alt-right or whatever it was.
00:23:57.460 And she said no.
00:23:58.820 And you know what she did?
00:23:59.860 She did the only thing that we can ever do when we mess up, when we make a mistake, when
00:24:03.680 we believe things that aren't true.
00:24:05.000 She apologized.
00:24:05.580 And she said this was to her shame and that she was wrong about Charlie and that she watched
00:24:12.400 all this footage of Charlie and realized that he was a minister of the gospel, that he wanted
00:24:17.260 people to be saved.
00:24:18.900 And so people are waking up.
00:24:20.140 And I'm not just talking about non-Christians waking up.
00:24:22.540 I am talking about Christians.
00:24:24.420 I am talking about Christians who have been shaken because of this.
00:24:27.400 They've been shaken out of their stupor.
00:24:29.100 They've been shaken out of their cowardice.
00:24:31.400 And I feel like I have been even more reinvigorated.
00:24:37.580 I mean, at first, my reaction, of course, was fear and anxiety.
00:24:42.200 And there is a part of that because I'm human.
00:24:44.720 But gosh, this has so firmly established the importance of bold truth tellers.
00:24:52.400 And this has awakened, I think, this just spirit of courage.
00:24:57.180 And courage is a contagion.
00:24:58.980 And when it hits one person, that torch is passed to the next and the next.
00:25:03.540 And I've been thinking about this quote that I heard from my friend, Seth Gruber.
00:25:09.220 He has an organization, a pro-life organization called the White Rose Resistance.
00:25:13.740 And he got this name from the White Rose Resistance of Christians in Germany who fought against
00:25:19.940 the Nazis at the time.
00:25:21.760 And Hans and Sophie Scholl were these young 22 and 24-year-old brother and sister pair that
00:25:28.980 who were advocates against the Nazis.
00:25:30.920 And they were beheaded for their advocacy for fighting against Nazism and fighting on behalf
00:25:37.920 of their fellow image bearers of God in Germany.
00:25:40.260 They were beheaded in 1943.
00:25:43.020 At the age of 22, Sophie Scholl wrote a letter to her mother explaining what the real problem is.
00:25:52.320 She said that the real problem weren't the evildoers, but the cowards.
00:25:58.460 She wrote,
00:25:59.260 The real damage is done by those millions who just want to survive.
00:26:03.340 The honest men who just want to be left in peace.
00:26:06.560 Those who don't want their little lives disturbed by anything bigger than themselves.
00:26:10.860 Those with no size and no causes.
00:26:13.500 Those who won't take measure of their own strength for fear of antagonizing their own weakness.
00:26:18.640 Those who don't like to make waves or enemies.
00:26:22.500 Those for whom freedom, honor, truth, and principles are only literature.
00:26:27.740 If you don't make any noise, the boogeyman won't find you.
00:26:30.860 But it's all an illusion.
00:26:32.700 Because they die too.
00:26:34.360 Those people who roll up their spirits into tiny little balls so as to be safe.
00:26:38.180 Safe?
00:26:39.340 From what?
00:26:40.680 Life is always on the edge of death.
00:26:42.360 Narrow streets lead to the same place as wide avenues.
00:26:45.180 And a little candle burns itself out just like a flaming torch does.
00:26:53.320 Sophie's bravery, her death, helped fan the flame of Nazi opposition throughout the world.
00:27:02.700 And I just want to remind you, Christian, that your heritage is not one of cowardice.
00:27:09.180 It is not one of ambiguity.
00:27:12.800 Your heritage is one of courage.
00:27:15.620 It's one of boldness.
00:27:17.000 It's one of bravery.
00:27:18.020 I think a lot of people can look out at the chaos of our world and say, it's never been worse than this.
00:27:23.480 Things are accelerating.
00:27:24.740 They're getting darker than they've ever been before.
00:27:26.920 And it's harder to share the gospel than ever.
00:27:28.740 It's harder to live like a Christian than ever.
00:27:31.040 And you just can't overcome this fear.
00:27:32.940 Let me remind you that Christians used to be fed to lions.
00:27:35.800 Let me remind you that Christians used to be beheaded and their heads placed on top of stakes and lit on fire.
00:27:45.160 Let me remind you that Christians have been tortured, that they've been butchered, that they have been betrayed, that they have been bruised and battered for their faith.
00:27:56.940 Let me remind you of the fate of our Lord, who was full of grace and truth, who only shared truth, who healed the sick, who helped the poor, who touched the untouchable.
00:28:09.880 He was the kindest and most loving individual that ever lived, that ever walked the earth.
00:28:17.220 And yet he was crucified.
00:28:20.180 And I also want to go to Acts 7 and 8.
00:28:23.460 I've been thinking a lot over the past few days about Stephen.
00:28:30.520 Stephen, who is described as being full of grace and power.
00:28:36.220 Acts 6, 8 through 15.
00:28:39.880 Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people.
00:28:45.460 Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the freedmen, as it was called, and others, paraphrasing that part, rose up and disputed with Stephen.
00:28:53.780 But they could not withstand the wisdom and the spirit with which he was speaking.
00:28:59.800 Then they secretly instigated men who said,
00:29:02.140 We have not heard him speak blasphemous words.
00:29:04.080 We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God, which, of course, was not true.
00:29:08.400 And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes.
00:29:11.060 And they came upon him and seized him and brought him before the council.
00:29:13.740 And they set up false witnesses who said,
00:29:16.360 This man never ceases to speak words against this holy place and the law.
00:29:20.420 For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and will change the customs that Moses delivered to us.
00:29:27.740 And gazing at him, all who sat in the council saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
00:29:34.660 And then Stephen took this opportunity to share the gospel.
00:29:39.040 He laid it all out.
00:29:40.080 He said,
00:29:40.440 This is what the prophet said.
00:29:41.920 This is the road through the Old Testament from the very beginning until our Messiah, this Jesus, arrived and you rejected him.
00:29:50.000 Verses 51 through 53.
00:29:53.620 You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit as your fathers did.
00:30:00.160 So do you.
00:30:01.940 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute?
00:30:05.460 And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of the righteous one, whom you have now betrayed and murdered,
00:30:11.600 you who received the law as delivered by angels and did not keep it.
00:30:15.700 So Stephen, out of love for these people, out of a love for God, out of a desire for these people to know truth and accept Jesus as the Messiah,
00:30:26.840 he hurt their feelings.
00:30:29.260 So they falsely accused him.
00:30:31.040 They called him a blasphemer.
00:30:32.340 Maybe in our day they would have called him a bigot.
00:30:35.480 And what happened to him?
00:30:37.300 This person, Stephen, who had a face like an angel, who was so peaceful, so calm and full of grace and power.
00:30:44.720 Wouldn't all of us want to be described that way as full of grace and power?
00:30:48.080 He was stoned to death.
00:30:50.140 They were so angry that they executed him.
00:30:52.700 Jesus, full of grace and truth.
00:30:54.500 Again, what a description.
00:30:56.440 Was crucified.
00:30:57.820 Over and over again, we see that no matter how kind Christians are, no matter how nice we are, no matter how perfect our tone is,
00:31:04.900 no matter how much we plead with people,
00:31:06.860 there will be people because they don't understand the truth, because they don't know the truth,
00:31:11.240 because they are depraved in mind, who will want to kill us.
00:31:15.620 That is the pattern for Christianity.
00:31:17.740 So anyone out there who would like to say, well, Charlie was killed because of how he spoke,
00:31:22.780 because he was divisive, because of his politics.
00:31:25.720 No, Charlie was killed because he was a forth-telling prophet.
00:31:29.820 And because the prophet in so many different eras has been murdered, has been executed.
00:31:38.560 I'm not claiming that he was a foretelling prophet, that he could see the future,
00:31:42.420 but a forth-telling prophet.
00:31:44.160 Through the power of the Holy Spirit, he was able to give such prescient and precise language
00:31:50.120 to describe the evil spirit of the age and to call people to repentance.
00:31:55.440 And because of that, he made people very angry.
00:31:59.900 And that is why I believe he was killed.
00:32:03.420 And that is the history of Christianity.
00:32:06.100 But the history of Christianity doesn't stop with someone being killed.
00:32:09.780 The history of Christianity starts with not Jesus' crucifixion, but his resurrection.
00:32:15.500 And because of that, we see the manifestation of the resurrection
00:32:19.560 throughout the past 2,000 years of Christian history,
00:32:22.300 that when Christians are killed, Christians are multiplied.
00:32:26.900 Christians tell the truth, Christians are killed, and then Christians are multiplied.
00:32:31.600 That's the pattern.
00:32:32.860 That's the pattern that we are seeing right now.
00:32:34.740 We are living through the same cycle that Christians have lived through for years.
00:32:38.560 And what a blessed privilege that we get to be vessels of courage,
00:32:42.220 of sharing that same gospel,
00:32:44.240 and making sure that God's purpose of multiplication happens.
00:32:49.460 Wow, what a terrifying age, but what a privileged moment that we get to live in.
00:32:56.560 Let us not fail.
00:32:59.000 Let us not falter.
00:33:00.740 Let us not shrink back.
00:33:02.440 Let us not cower in fear.
00:33:04.080 Let us meet this moment with the fullness of strength of the power of the Holy Spirit
00:33:08.880 that God has placed in all of us,
00:33:10.720 that God has placed in every single believer for the past 2,000 years.
00:33:15.960 From Nero to Newsome, Jesus reigns.
00:33:18.480 From Herod to Harris, the Holy Spirit is alive and well in the lives of believers.
00:33:26.080 All right, I've got more encouragement for us in just a second.
00:33:29.660 Let me go ahead and pause.

00:34:34.400 CrowdHealth is not insurance.
00:34:35.600 Opt out.
00:34:36.060 Take your power back.
00:34:37.040 This is how we win.
00:34:38.260 Joincrowdhealth.com.
00:34:39.640 I just want to remind you
00:34:47.000 that God's eternal plan of redemption
00:34:48.720 is going off without a hitch.
00:34:51.920 Again, He's not surprised.
00:34:53.440 He's not taken aback.
00:34:54.520 He's not thrown off.
00:34:56.020 He's not looking down and wondering
00:34:57.780 what is going to happen next.
00:35:00.180 When it seems like God is doing one thing,
00:35:02.380 He's actually doing a million things.
00:35:04.060 And through the unseen and unsung
00:35:06.140 daily mundane work of believers,
00:35:08.920 He is accomplishing His purposes.
00:35:10.680 And let us remember this,
00:35:12.160 that what God sets out to do, He does.
00:35:15.000 The will He wants to accomplish, He accomplishes.
00:35:18.360 Christ will win.
00:35:21.080 Christ will claim what is His.
00:35:23.200 He will bring the entirety of His flock to Himself.
00:35:28.000 He will make all things new.
00:35:30.400 He will set all things right.
00:35:33.020 One day through Christ, we win.
00:35:35.560 One day through Christ, we inherit the earth.
00:35:38.300 One day this dark night will be over
00:35:40.520 and we will wake up in a new heaven
00:35:43.440 and a new earth where there's no more sin
00:35:45.920 and there's no more sadness
00:35:47.320 and there's no more sorrow
00:35:48.800 and there's no more murder or assassination
00:35:51.120 or abortion or depravity
00:35:53.980 or injustice or oppression.
00:35:56.920 Everything will be made perfect
00:35:59.300 because Jesus wins.
00:36:01.780 Jesus wins.
00:36:02.760 That is our hope.
00:36:05.420 That is what we cling to.
00:36:06.720 One day we will stand shoulder to shoulder
00:36:08.700 with Charlie,
00:36:10.740 with the Christians who have gone before us,
00:36:13.260 with all of these giants of the faith
00:36:15.520 that we've lost this year.
00:36:16.700 Gosh, John MacArthur
00:36:17.980 and James Dobson
00:36:21.580 and Phil Robertson
00:36:23.100 and we will stand with the butchered
00:36:25.200 and the betrayed
00:36:26.060 and the bruised
00:36:28.040 and the battered for their faith
00:36:30.100 and we will sing in unison
00:36:31.840 for all of eternity.
00:36:33.200 Holy, holy, holy
00:36:34.320 is the Lord God Almighty
00:36:35.880 who was and is
00:36:38.060 and is to come.
00:36:40.700 Now we are in the lion's den,
00:36:42.560 but then we will be
00:36:43.660 with the lion of Judah.
00:36:46.740 That's our hope.
00:36:48.220 We're not there yet.
00:36:50.580 Jesus is not back.
00:36:51.640 God has not chosen
00:36:54.320 yet
00:36:55.940 to take you or I home.
00:37:01.140 And so we have work to do.
00:37:04.400 We have truth to tell.
00:37:06.180 We have good to do
00:37:07.660 to our neighbor.
00:37:09.980 We have evil to restrain.
00:37:12.420 We have to stand up
00:37:13.800 for the most vulnerable
00:37:15.080 even when it's hard,
00:37:17.440 even when they threaten us.
00:37:19.540 I was reading Hebrews 11
00:37:21.160 actually right before
00:37:22.500 I went on Fox and Friends
00:37:23.580 on Sunday
00:37:24.020 to talk about this revival
00:37:25.580 of faith that we're seeing
00:37:26.560 in the wake of Charlie's assassination.
00:37:29.580 I was sitting there waiting
00:37:30.940 and reading Hebrews 11
00:37:32.600 on my phone.
00:37:33.800 It just reminded me
00:37:34.800 so much
00:37:35.420 of the moment
00:37:36.180 that we're in
00:37:36.720 and it reminded me
00:37:37.440 in a lot of ways
00:37:38.160 of Charlie's ministry.
00:37:40.580 We're talking about faith
00:37:41.820 and maybe you're new
00:37:42.780 to Christianity,
00:37:43.680 maybe you're new
00:37:44.160 to the Bible
00:37:44.600 and you just don't even know
00:37:45.620 what is it,
00:37:46.460 what is faith?
00:37:47.640 What is meant by that?
00:37:48.600 Hebrews 11
00:37:49.120 is a really good place
00:37:50.020 to start
00:37:50.440 because it defines it.
00:37:52.100 I love the Bible so much
00:37:53.480 for so many reasons
00:37:54.460 but one of the reasons
00:37:55.920 I love it
00:37:56.420 is because it defines
00:37:57.380 things for us
00:37:58.140 and defining our terms
00:37:59.140 is so important.
00:38:01.480 Here's Hebrews 11
00:38:02.440 1 through 3.
00:38:03.020 Now faith is the assurance
00:38:04.300 of things hoped for,
00:38:05.280 the conviction
00:38:05.880 of things not seen.
00:38:07.440 For by it the people of old
00:38:08.600 received their commendation.
00:38:10.060 By faith we understand
00:38:11.160 that the universe
00:38:11.760 was created
00:38:12.400 by the word of God
00:38:13.400 so that what is seen
00:38:15.160 was not made
00:38:16.900 out of things
00:38:17.920 that are visible.
00:38:18.680 Oh my gosh,
00:38:19.960 I just want to read
00:38:20.720 that again.
00:38:21.260 Like there's so much
00:38:21.980 there that we could unpack.
00:38:23.020 Now faith is the assurance
00:38:24.160 of things hoped for.
00:38:25.460 Okay?
00:38:25.740 The down payment,
00:38:26.700 the guarantee
00:38:27.160 of the things
00:38:27.780 that we are hoping for,
00:38:28.740 the conviction,
00:38:30.020 the knowledge,
00:38:31.100 the firm belief
00:38:32.060 of things
00:38:32.520 that we cannot see.
00:38:34.780 For by it the people
00:38:35.740 of old
00:38:36.340 received their commendation.
00:38:38.100 Okay?
00:38:38.340 This is really important.
00:38:40.020 You can cross-text this
00:38:41.440 with cross-reference this
00:38:42.800 with Romans 9.
00:38:43.740 You see that it has
00:38:44.440 always been by faith,
00:38:46.020 even in the Old Testament,
00:38:47.000 by faith in Christ,
00:38:48.280 even in the Messiah
00:38:49.840 that people have been saved.
00:38:52.100 By faith we understand
00:38:53.540 that the universe
00:38:54.180 was created
00:38:54.900 by the word of God.
00:38:57.120 Okay?
00:38:57.860 So that what is seen
00:38:59.820 was not made
00:39:01.100 out of things
00:39:01.780 that are visible.
00:39:02.540 Wow.
00:39:02.760 You could even
00:39:03.360 cross-reference this
00:39:04.500 with Colossians 1.
00:39:06.600 You could also
00:39:07.380 cross-reference this
00:39:09.340 with 1 Corinthians 1
00:39:11.100 that God shames
00:39:12.040 the wisdom of the wise.
00:39:13.520 There's so much here.
00:39:14.320 There's so much here.
00:39:15.320 And I love the Bible so much.
00:39:17.020 And if you just ordered
00:39:17.860 your Bible for the first time,
00:39:19.380 you are in
00:39:19.980 for so much fun.
00:39:22.100 Verses 8 through 10.
00:39:23.800 This is just amazing.
00:39:24.920 When we read
00:39:25.640 what it looks like
00:39:26.480 to have faith
00:39:27.060 and how the heroes
00:39:27.900 of old
00:39:28.520 applied faith
00:39:29.400 to their lives.
00:39:30.660 By faith Abraham
00:39:31.980 obeyed
00:39:32.800 when he was called
00:39:33.920 to go out
00:39:34.540 to a place
00:39:35.120 that he was to receive
00:39:36.340 as an inheritance.
00:39:37.520 And he went out
00:39:38.220 not knowing
00:39:38.820 where he was going.
00:39:39.960 By faith he went
00:39:40.680 to live in the land
00:39:41.360 of promise
00:39:41.840 as in a foreign land,
00:39:42.900 living in tents
00:39:43.540 with Isaac and Jacob
00:39:44.480 heirs with him
00:39:45.300 of the same promise
00:39:46.100 for he was looking forward
00:39:47.580 to the city
00:39:48.200 that has foundations
00:39:49.460 whose designer
00:39:50.640 and builder
00:39:51.360 is God.
00:39:52.920 So his eyes,
00:39:54.200 his heart,
00:39:54.860 his vision
00:39:55.380 was set on things
00:39:56.640 that were not yet seen.
00:39:59.500 By faith Abraham
00:40:00.440 when he was tested
00:40:01.480 offered up Isaac
00:40:02.420 and he who had
00:40:04.300 received the promises
00:40:05.320 was in the act
00:40:06.100 of offering up
00:40:06.740 his only son
00:40:07.600 of whom it was said
00:40:08.460 through Isaac
00:40:09.000 shall your offspring
00:40:09.740 be named.
00:40:10.340 So Abraham
00:40:11.220 had this son Isaac
00:40:12.560 in his very old age
00:40:14.080 which was crazy anyway
00:40:15.180 and God had told him
00:40:16.880 look up at the stars
00:40:17.620 this is going to be
00:40:18.800 your offspring
00:40:19.240 one day
00:40:20.400 and Abraham is like
00:40:21.540 well I'm really old
00:40:22.460 my wife is really old
00:40:23.680 I don't have any kids
00:40:25.160 how is this going to happen?
00:40:26.720 We learn that
00:40:27.380 he is going to have
00:40:28.800 this offspring
00:40:29.280 through Isaac
00:40:29.920 and then God is like
00:40:31.240 yeah you're going
00:40:31.620 to sacrifice Isaac
00:40:32.520 you're going to kill Isaac
00:40:33.640 and Abraham
00:40:34.640 because he trusts God
00:40:36.240 so much
00:40:37.640 he goes forth
00:40:39.200 it says that Abraham
00:40:40.400 considered that God
00:40:41.240 was able even to
00:40:42.260 raise Isaac from the dead
00:40:43.380 if he wanted to
00:40:44.160 from which figuratively
00:40:45.940 speaking he did
00:40:46.820 receive him back
00:40:47.580 and of course
00:40:48.220 God provided another way
00:40:49.740 he provided a sacrifice
00:40:51.060 he provided the ram
00:40:52.340 and the thicket
00:40:53.040 and there's so much
00:40:54.680 there too
00:40:55.180 we even read in
00:40:56.400 verses 24 through 27
00:40:57.680 that by faith
00:40:58.560 Moses considered
00:40:59.780 the reproach of Christ
00:41:01.060 okay Moses
00:41:01.840 this is before Jesus
00:41:03.020 but he considered
00:41:04.140 the reproach of Christ
00:41:05.160 greater wealth
00:41:06.080 than the treasures of Egypt
00:41:07.060 for he was looking
00:41:07.960 to the reward
00:41:09.280 by faith he left Egypt
00:41:12.240 not being afraid
00:41:13.140 of the anger of the king
00:41:14.100 for he endured
00:41:14.960 as seeing him
00:41:16.280 who is invisible
00:41:17.460 by faith the people
00:41:18.320 crossed the Red Sea
00:41:19.140 as on dry land
00:41:20.000 but the Egyptians
00:41:20.680 when they attempted
00:41:21.340 to do the same
00:41:22.220 were drowned
00:41:23.080 by faith the walls
00:41:23.960 of Jericho fell down
00:41:25.060 after they had been
00:41:26.040 encircled for seven days
00:41:27.360 and then I think
00:41:29.120 this is so powerful too
00:41:30.320 it was like I was
00:41:31.100 reading Hebrews 11
00:41:32.040 for the first time
00:41:33.100 verses 32 through 38
00:41:35.820 and what more shall I say
00:41:37.200 for time would fail me
00:41:38.700 to tell of Gideon
00:41:39.720 Barak Samson
00:41:40.740 Jephthah
00:41:41.320 of David and Samuel
00:41:42.940 and the prophets
00:41:43.520 who through faith
00:41:44.500 conquered kingdoms
00:41:45.320 enforced justice
00:41:46.980 through faith
00:41:48.580 wow
00:41:48.800 obtained promises
00:41:49.820 stopped the mouths
00:41:51.100 of lions
00:41:51.740 quenched the power
00:41:52.740 of the fire
00:41:53.400 escaped the edge
00:41:54.240 of the sword
00:41:54.780 were made strong
00:41:55.540 out of weakness
00:41:56.200 became mighty in war
00:41:57.820 put foreign armies
00:41:59.060 to flight
00:41:59.580 women received back
00:42:01.000 their dead
00:42:01.400 by resurrection
00:42:02.400 some were tortured
00:42:03.620 refusing to accept
00:42:05.000 release
00:42:05.340 so that they might
00:42:06.120 rise again
00:42:06.720 to a better life
00:42:07.660 others suffered
00:42:09.200 mocking and flogging
00:42:10.480 and even change
00:42:11.780 and imprisonment
00:42:12.740 they were stoned
00:42:14.300 they were sawn
00:42:15.020 in two
00:42:16.140 they were killed
00:42:16.740 with the sword
00:42:17.440 they went about
00:42:18.340 in skins of sheep
00:42:19.240 and goats
00:42:19.600 destitute
00:42:20.160 afflicted
00:42:20.760 mistreated
00:42:21.260 of whom the world
00:42:22.400 was not worthy
00:42:23.420 wandering about
00:42:25.420 in deserts
00:42:26.140 and mountains
00:42:26.760 and dens
00:42:27.500 and caves
00:42:28.340 of the earth
00:42:29.200 wow
00:42:30.960 that is our
00:42:32.240 heritage
00:42:32.620 Christians
00:42:33.320 by faith
00:42:34.960 Christians
00:42:35.720 accomplished
00:42:36.160 amazing things
00:42:36.980 and by faith
00:42:37.900 they endured
00:42:38.540 suffering
00:42:39.200 and death
00:42:40.200 and persecution
00:42:41.340 and martyrdom
00:42:42.980 by faith
00:42:44.540 in whom
00:42:45.060 and Jesus Christ
00:42:46.160 who defeated death
00:42:46.980 and because of that
00:42:48.280 we have faith
00:42:49.720 we have hope
00:42:50.700 not only in the
00:42:51.420 cleansing of our sins
00:42:52.260 but that we will
00:42:53.620 enjoy a resurrection
00:42:54.720 that we will
00:42:55.760 live again
00:42:56.560 that we will live
00:42:57.200 forever with Christ
00:42:58.360 that is our motivation
00:43:00.180 that is why
00:43:00.880 we are fearless
00:43:01.520 it's not primarily
00:43:02.480 because of what
00:43:03.120 happened with Charlie
00:43:03.940 that might have
00:43:04.480 invigorated something
00:43:05.560 it's because of the gospel
00:43:06.580 it's because of the hope
00:43:07.840 that we have in Jesus
00:43:08.680 I've got more on this
00:43:10.160 in just a second
00:43:10.780 let me go ahead
00:43:11.520 and tell you about
00:43:12.040 our next sponsor
00:43:12.680 it's Concerned Women
00:43:13.500 for America
00:43:14.100 a lot of people are asking
00:43:15.360 how do you get involved
00:43:16.200 there's a lot of ways
00:43:17.020 to get involved

00:43:30.040 you want to get involved
00:43:31.280 on the policy level
00:43:32.320 on the grassroots level
00:43:33.800 make sure that the policies
00:43:35.400 that are going forth
00:43:36.260 protect your family
00:43:37.440 and your values

00:43:57.880 slash Allie
00:43:58.940 okay so we go to
00:44:06.200 chapter 12
00:44:06.940 of Hebrews
00:44:07.660 therefore since we are
00:44:08.760 surrounded by so great
00:44:10.080 a cloud of witnesses
00:44:10.920 let us also lay aside
00:44:12.880 every weight
00:44:13.680 and sin
00:44:14.220 which clings so closely
00:44:15.360 and let us run
00:44:16.480 with endurance
00:44:17.060 the race that is set
00:44:18.140 before us
00:44:18.660 looking to Jesus
00:44:19.500 the founder and perfecter
00:44:20.740 of our faith
00:44:21.360 who for the joy
00:44:22.500 that was set before him
00:44:23.480 endured the cross
00:44:24.280 despising the shame
00:44:25.580 and is seated
00:44:26.500 at the right hand
00:44:27.200 of the throne of God
00:44:28.100 consider him
00:44:30.460 who endures
00:44:31.760 from sinners
00:44:32.560 such hostility
00:44:33.660 against himself
00:44:34.580 so that you
00:44:35.780 may not grow
00:44:37.140 weary
00:44:37.860 or faint hearted
00:44:40.080 how amazing
00:44:42.060 is that
00:44:43.760 that we get to
00:44:45.760 look to the courage
00:44:46.620 the strength
00:44:47.220 the fortitude
00:44:47.860 of Jesus
00:44:48.540 and we get to
00:44:50.100 look forward
00:44:50.600 to a better home
00:44:51.500 a better way
00:44:53.660 a better place
00:44:54.680 where there will be peace
00:44:55.740 there will be
00:44:56.220 no more need
00:44:57.640 to take up our cross
00:44:58.620 and to deny ourselves
00:44:59.880 but right now
00:45:00.780 our courage
00:45:02.180 and our boldness
00:45:03.240 our self-denial
00:45:04.500 our strong
00:45:05.780 peacemaking
00:45:06.600 is a testimony
00:45:08.040 to a chaotic world
00:45:09.220 our clarity
00:45:09.980 is a testimony
00:45:10.720 to a confused world
00:45:12.180 I love the people
00:45:13.700 that I've seen
00:45:14.360 who have said
00:45:14.820 the people pleasing
00:45:16.000 has left my body
00:45:17.100 I love the people
00:45:18.580 who have said
00:45:19.020 oh yeah
00:45:19.480 I'm gonna go
00:45:21.100 to college campuses now
00:45:22.320 I'm gonna evangelize
00:45:24.480 even harder now
00:45:25.400 and oh no
00:45:26.780 I'm not canceling
00:45:27.600 my speaking engagements
00:45:28.520 I'm gonna go out there
00:45:29.740 and share the truth
00:45:31.120 I love
00:45:32.140 what the Holy Spirit
00:45:33.420 is doing in people
00:45:34.260 and Lord please
00:45:35.240 let this be
00:45:36.880 momentous
00:45:38.200 let this
00:45:39.120 have a snowball effect
00:45:40.660 and Lord
00:45:41.080 bring us to you
00:45:42.800 and ensure
00:45:44.360 that our motivation
00:45:45.980 is not out
00:45:47.640 of an unrighteous
00:45:49.600 sense of vengeance
00:45:50.960 but that our motivation
00:45:52.380 is truly holy
00:45:53.560 that is truly righteous
00:45:54.840 that is truly a desire
00:45:56.500 to see you glorified
00:45:58.020 another prayer
00:46:00.220 that I have
00:46:00.760 in the midst of this
00:46:01.700 is for discernment
00:46:03.780 for all of us
00:46:04.640 I didn't know
00:46:06.240 whether I was going
00:46:07.020 to even talk
00:46:07.900 about this at all
00:46:08.440 I'm not really
00:46:08.920 gonna get into it
00:46:09.640 but there's a lot
00:46:11.080 of theories right now
00:46:11.960 there's a lot
00:46:13.380 of conspiracies
00:46:14.240 not all the questions
00:46:15.980 that people are asking
00:46:16.720 are wrong
00:46:17.120 I'm not saying that
00:46:17.940 again I'm not saying
00:46:19.100 that we should just
00:46:19.600 accept whatever
00:46:20.200 the government tells us
00:46:21.300 and that's fine
00:46:22.160 move on
00:46:22.720 I'm not saying that
00:46:23.520 but there's a lot
00:46:25.560 of theories
00:46:26.000 and I don't know
00:46:28.380 that it is healthy
00:46:29.200 or productive
00:46:29.720 for you Christian
00:46:30.580 to go down
00:46:31.220 every rabbit hole
00:46:32.060 I just don't
00:46:33.560 I don't think
00:46:34.100 it's healthy
00:46:34.480 for your heart
00:46:35.100 and for your spirit
00:46:35.940 I don't know
00:46:36.500 if it's productive
00:46:37.180 I don't know
00:46:37.700 if it's honoring
00:46:38.360 to Charlie
00:46:39.020 and his wife
00:46:39.780 and his children
00:46:41.320 here's what I would say
00:46:43.180 here's a good question
00:46:44.540 okay
00:46:45.060 when people are throwing out
00:46:47.560 what about this
00:46:48.660 what about that
00:46:49.800 think about this
00:46:51.160 I know this
00:46:52.440 who knows this
00:46:53.820 ask yourself
00:46:55.460 where's your evidence
00:46:56.480 where's your evidence
00:46:58.420 for the people
00:46:58.940 who are just
00:46:59.600 asking questions
00:47:00.720 out there
00:47:01.400 back it up
00:47:03.080 give us some proof
00:47:04.700 give us some concrete evidence
00:47:06.800 of the things
00:47:07.840 that you're saying
00:47:08.560 I see a lot of people
00:47:09.880 calling for transparency
00:47:11.160 who also claim
00:47:12.380 that they know more
00:47:13.360 than the people in charge
00:47:14.440 tell us
00:47:15.540 please
00:47:16.000 let's not play games
00:47:16.940 like if you've got the truth
00:47:18.840 if you've got evidence
00:47:20.020 of something
00:47:20.540 that is going on
00:47:21.620 a true conspiracy
00:47:22.960 true collusion
00:47:23.840 then the world needs to know
00:47:25.340 let's not play games
00:47:26.460 okay
00:47:26.800 so I want you Christian
00:47:28.380 to ask yourself
00:47:29.380 where's the evidence
00:47:31.420 where's the truth
00:47:32.940 okay
00:47:33.920 and a rabbit hole
00:47:35.880 is not a helpful place to go
00:47:37.060 asking questions
00:47:38.480 that follow a logical line
00:47:40.100 of reasoning
00:47:40.760 and taking it to people
00:47:42.460 that can actually influence
00:47:44.260 those in charge
00:47:44.980 who are seeking justice
00:47:46.080 I think that is healthy
00:47:47.440 but getting all worked up
00:47:49.720 in every single theory
00:47:51.220 that is out there
00:47:52.260 without someone offering
00:47:54.140 in return
00:47:54.900 some substantive evidence
00:47:56.520 for their questions
00:47:57.760 and accusations
00:47:58.540 that's going to be
00:48:00.440 a no from me
00:48:01.220 and I'm not going to be
00:48:02.880 the place
00:48:03.320 that y'all are going to be
00:48:04.160 able to go
00:48:04.940 to explore all those theories
00:48:06.700 there are some other
00:48:08.180 people out there
00:48:08.820 probably people that can do it
00:48:09.880 in a healthy way
00:48:10.600 and you can watch them
00:48:12.280 you can listen to them
00:48:13.200 I'm not here to tell you
00:48:14.800 what to do
00:48:15.500 in that
00:48:16.180 I'm just saying
00:48:16.700 I'm not going to be
00:48:17.580 that person
00:48:18.200 okay
00:48:19.000 as truth is revealed
00:48:21.000 which I pray to God
00:48:22.040 that it is
00:48:22.680 as justice is sought
00:48:24.220 and I pray to God
00:48:25.680 that it is
00:48:26.460 and that justice is satisfied
00:48:28.840 that I will reveal
00:48:30.660 the facts that I know
00:48:31.860 but I feel
00:48:33.460 a responsibility
00:48:34.620 to you guys
00:48:35.980 to not take you down
00:48:38.100 every trail
00:48:39.740 because I'm not here
00:48:41.480 to cause anxiety
00:48:42.400 I am here
00:48:43.080 to infuse courage
00:48:44.100 into your life
00:48:44.800 and clarity
00:48:45.380 into your life
00:48:45.980 I have not been perfect
00:48:46.940 on that by the way
00:48:47.640 my entire history
00:48:48.500 like there have been times
00:48:49.800 where I look back
00:48:50.380 and I'm like
00:48:50.720 I probably just induced
00:48:52.740 anxiety there
00:48:53.380 that wasn't helpful
00:48:54.040 that wasn't productive
00:48:54.780 and I pray for grace
00:48:56.200 to cover me
00:48:56.740 and to help me
00:48:57.180 and give me wisdom
00:48:57.780 but be careful
00:48:59.000 just be careful
00:49:00.920 out there okay
00:49:01.580 have discernment
00:49:02.600 I'm not saying
00:49:04.040 that you should only
00:49:04.640 listen to me
00:49:05.100 please no
00:49:05.780 seek truth
00:49:07.140 but there's a difference
00:49:08.520 in truth-seeking
00:49:09.300 and anxiety-inducing
00:49:12.440 conspiracy theories
00:49:13.460 ask for evidence
00:49:15.260 all right
00:49:16.700 I want to end
00:49:18.420 on the story
00:49:20.040 of Shadrach, Meshach
00:49:21.520 and Abednego
00:49:22.020 and again
00:49:23.540 if you're
00:49:24.140 dusting off your Bible
00:49:25.520 or you're buying
00:49:26.620 that Bible
00:49:27.420 then you can read
00:49:29.460 Daniel 3
00:49:30.100 it's pretty incredible
00:49:31.280 just the courage
00:49:32.520 that we see there
00:49:33.280 the courage that we see
00:49:34.260 throughout scripture
00:49:34.900 that's really a pattern
00:49:35.760 that we see
00:49:36.280 we see these like
00:49:37.580 failing
00:49:38.620 finite
00:49:39.580 fallible people
00:49:40.720 who just mess up
00:49:42.100 over and over again
00:49:43.160 who just like
00:49:44.060 completely reject
00:49:45.000 what God just told them
00:49:46.600 but
00:49:47.600 the people
00:49:49.460 who are held up
00:49:51.180 as our examples
00:49:51.880 are not perfect people
00:49:52.860 they're faithful people
00:49:53.800 they're obedient people
00:49:55.440 they're courageous people
00:49:56.800 who just trusted
00:49:58.080 that God was going to do
00:49:59.220 what he said
00:49:59.780 that he was going to do
00:50:00.840 and we see that
00:50:02.360 in Daniel 3
00:50:03.080 let me go ahead
00:50:03.880 and tell you
00:50:04.360 our last
00:50:05.880 sponsor for the day

00:51:01.640 slash Allie
00:51:02.300 you know
00:51:07.660 I just got this in
00:51:08.640 and by the time
00:51:09.820 this is coming out
00:51:10.660 this will be old news
00:51:11.940 but I just
00:51:13.720 got the headline
00:51:15.000 from CNBC
00:51:15.820 that said that
00:51:16.560 the prosecutor
00:51:17.340 in Charlie Kirk's
00:51:18.440 case will seek
00:51:19.440 the death penalty
00:51:20.200 and we already
00:51:21.600 covered the death penalty
00:51:22.620 earlier in this episode
00:51:24.240 it's right
00:51:24.960 it is just
00:51:26.160 the only unjust thing
00:51:27.500 about the death penalty
00:51:28.300 in this country
00:51:30.200 at least in principle
00:51:31.200 is that
00:51:32.240 it is delayed
00:51:33.100 for years
00:51:33.920 and years
00:51:34.260 and years
00:51:34.820 even after due process
00:51:36.480 even after we have
00:51:37.320 DNA evidence
00:51:38.140 that someone committed
00:51:38.940 a murder
00:51:39.400 it's
00:51:40.840 you know
00:51:41.440 we wait so long
00:51:42.780 to execute the person
00:51:44.320 and then also
00:51:45.340 it just seems so arbitrary
00:51:46.700 we just don't consistently
00:51:48.000 apply it
00:51:48.720 and that is the cruel
00:51:49.660 part of it
00:51:50.200 it's not the execution
00:51:51.260 because you're executing
00:51:52.740 someone by lethal injection
00:51:54.240 you're actually giving them
00:51:55.260 so much more
00:51:55.900 mercy
00:51:56.840 and more comfort
00:51:57.660 than they gave
00:51:58.480 the victims
00:51:59.440 of their murder
00:52:00.340 and so
00:52:01.100 it's actually
00:52:02.500 a great mercy
00:52:03.180 it's not only a mercy
00:52:04.240 to the heinous murderer
00:52:06.660 but it is also
00:52:07.640 a great mercy
00:52:08.420 to society
00:52:09.160 when you take out
00:52:09.960 people inflicting
00:52:10.780 that kind of violence
00:52:11.600 and evil
00:52:12.000 but I just want to remind you
00:52:13.800 of a couple things
00:52:14.740 but Daniel 3
00:52:15.660 Shadrach, Meshach
00:52:16.580 and Abednego
00:52:17.220 answered the king
00:52:19.420 when the king said
00:52:20.580 you gotta bow down to me
00:52:21.580 look at this awesome
00:52:22.440 golden statue of myself
00:52:23.480 you gotta bow down
00:52:24.240 to this idol
00:52:24.840 they said
00:52:26.300 oh Nebuchadnezzar
00:52:27.080 we have no need
00:52:27.900 to answer you
00:52:28.580 in this matter
00:52:29.200 if this be so
00:52:31.280 our God
00:52:31.860 whom we serve
00:52:32.540 is able to deliver us
00:52:33.860 from the burning
00:52:34.660 fiery furnace
00:52:35.400 and he will deliver us
00:52:36.740 out of your hand
00:52:37.600 oh king
00:52:38.140 because Nebuchadnezzar
00:52:39.040 had said
00:52:39.380 hey
00:52:39.620 if you don't bow down
00:52:40.680 to me
00:52:40.960 you're going
00:52:41.640 in this furnace
00:52:42.200 I'm gonna kill you
00:52:44.200 and they said
00:52:44.960 well even if you do
00:52:46.580 if God wants to
00:52:47.940 he can deliver us
00:52:49.100 from that
00:52:49.520 it reminds me
00:52:50.360 of what we just read
00:52:50.980 in Hebrews 11
00:52:51.880 that Abraham knew
00:52:53.900 that even if he sacrificed
00:52:55.460 Isaac as God told him
00:52:56.640 to do
00:52:56.960 that he even believed
00:52:57.820 that God could raise him
00:52:58.600 from the dead
00:52:59.100 so it was actually
00:53:00.040 faith in the resurrection
00:53:01.000 even in the Old Testament
00:53:02.660 that was the saving faith
00:53:05.140 in verse 18 of Daniel 3
00:53:07.740 but if not
00:53:09.040 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego say
00:53:11.500 be it known to you
00:53:13.200 oh king
00:53:13.780 that we will not
00:53:14.860 serve your gods
00:53:15.540 or worship the golden image
00:53:16.760 that you have set up
00:53:17.740 so again
00:53:18.880 they had faith
00:53:19.540 in not what they saw
00:53:20.460 they had faith
00:53:21.600 not in some material resource
00:53:23.680 that God had promised them
00:53:24.680 or even faith
00:53:25.800 that God was going
00:53:26.360 to save them physically
00:53:27.260 they said
00:53:27.660 even if not
00:53:28.320 we're not going
00:53:28.800 to bow down to you
00:53:29.740 we will not serve
00:53:30.760 your gods
00:53:31.220 or worship the golden image
00:53:32.300 that you have set up
00:53:33.240 so against idolatry
00:53:37.080 they were
00:53:37.440 so in love
00:53:38.420 with God
00:53:38.820 they were
00:53:39.140 that they said
00:53:39.620 you can burn us up
00:53:40.700 we do not care
00:53:42.160 we trust in God
00:53:43.100 so Nebuchadnezzar
00:53:45.220 threw them
00:53:45.640 in the fiery furnace
00:53:46.560 he ordered his people
00:53:48.340 to turn it up
00:53:49.140 seven times hotter
00:53:50.320 than what it typically was
00:53:52.100 but when Nebuchadnezzar
00:53:53.240 and his people
00:53:53.820 looked into the furnace
00:53:55.240 they saw not just
00:53:56.320 three people
00:53:56.800 but four
00:53:57.440 then king Nebuchadnezzar
00:54:00.320 was astonished
00:54:01.120 and rose up in haste
00:54:02.100 he declared to his counselors
00:54:03.420 did we not cast
00:54:04.400 three men bound
00:54:05.220 into the fire
00:54:05.900 they answered
00:54:06.680 and said to the king
00:54:07.380 true oh king
00:54:08.500 verse 25
00:54:09.600 he answered and said
00:54:10.480 but I see four men
00:54:11.840 unbound
00:54:12.540 walking in the midst
00:54:14.060 of the fire
00:54:14.820 and they are not hurt
00:54:16.240 and the appearance
00:54:17.620 of the fourth
00:54:18.220 is like a son
00:54:19.300 of the gods
00:54:19.940 so we see
00:54:21.920 there
00:54:22.420 God with him
00:54:23.840 we see the presence
00:54:24.780 of God there
00:54:25.440 saving them
00:54:26.700 and they had faith
00:54:27.720 that he would
00:54:28.240 that they walked
00:54:28.780 into the fiery furnace
00:54:29.900 and they would have
00:54:31.140 rather done that
00:54:32.060 than bow down
00:54:32.840 to an idol
00:54:33.560 and disobey God
00:54:34.740 it's the same thing
00:54:35.640 with Daniel
00:54:36.320 when Daniel was ordered
00:54:38.180 not to pray to God
00:54:39.760 he opened the windows
00:54:40.720 and he prayed to God
00:54:41.800 and he was thrown
00:54:42.920 into a den of lions
00:54:44.000 and what did God do
00:54:44.940 he shut the mouth
00:54:45.840 of the lions
00:54:46.800 and because of their faith
00:54:48.200 because of their boldness
00:54:50.600 God was able
00:54:52.440 to spread
00:54:54.420 faith of him
00:54:55.640 and knowledge
00:54:56.360 of his power
00:54:57.360 throughout the land
00:54:58.400 and we are not guaranteed
00:55:00.100 that we will be saved
00:55:01.420 from every physical malady
00:55:03.120 or physical threat
00:55:04.160 here on earth
00:55:04.740 obviously God chose
00:55:05.780 not to spare Charlie Kirk
00:55:07.120 from his assassination
00:55:09.300 but we know
00:55:10.580 again
00:55:11.040 that God uses
00:55:11.940 our faith
00:55:12.700 that he uses
00:55:13.800 our boldness
00:55:14.740 he uses
00:55:15.340 our obedience
00:55:16.260 for his glory
00:55:17.800 and our good
00:55:18.600 and I'll end
00:55:21.300 just asking you
00:55:22.240 I know I've asked this
00:55:23.200 a couple times
00:55:23.840 in the past few weeks
00:55:24.640 and sometimes
00:55:25.060 I even just feel
00:55:25.820 bad asking this
00:55:27.080 but I know
00:55:28.920 that you guys
00:55:29.660 love to do it
00:55:30.820 and will do it
00:55:31.540 but in addition
00:55:33.280 to praying so much
00:55:34.540 for so many people
00:55:35.520 that need prayer
00:55:36.300 Charlie's family
00:55:37.200 especially
00:55:37.720 I just ask that
00:55:39.140 over the next few days
00:55:40.400 if you'll think
00:55:41.000 of me
00:55:41.980 and my family
00:55:42.660 and pray for us
00:55:43.420 there's several things
00:55:44.620 that are coming up
00:55:45.460 that I need
00:55:46.320 strength for
00:55:47.100 as you can tell
00:55:47.640 I'm under the weather
00:55:48.820 I have not gotten
00:55:50.360 good sleep at all
00:55:51.100 I've barely gotten
00:55:51.980 sleep over the past
00:55:52.780 two weeks
00:55:53.380 for a variety
00:55:55.360 of reasons
00:55:55.940 and I got a lot
00:55:57.920 coming up
00:55:58.280 that I need energy
00:55:59.040 for
00:55:59.380 that I need strength
00:56:00.200 for
00:56:00.460 that I need clarity
00:56:01.420 and sound
00:56:02.280 and a sound mind
00:56:03.820 for
00:56:04.180 and I need the Holy Spirit
00:56:05.440 to help me
00:56:06.020 I need protection
00:56:07.240 and I need strength
00:56:08.660 not just for me
00:56:09.840 but also for Chief Related Bro
00:56:11.220 for our family
00:56:11.820 and so I just ask
00:56:12.640 that you could
00:56:13.780 offer that
00:56:14.420 the prayer
00:56:15.700 of a righteous person
00:56:16.720 has great power
00:56:17.460 as it is working
00:56:18.240 that's James 5
00:56:19.160 and I trust that
00:56:20.400 and believe that
00:56:21.000 and I'm just thankful
00:56:21.580 for you guys
00:56:22.260 and how you share
00:56:23.020 the arrows with me
00:56:23.760 and I share the arrows
00:56:25.400 with you too
00:56:26.080 and so just thank you
00:56:27.640 for being here
00:56:28.440 and committing
00:56:29.040 to praying
00:56:30.080 for all of us
00:56:30.880 all right
00:56:31.400 that's all we've got
00:56:32.220 time for today
00:56:32.860 we will be back
00:56:33.600 on Friday
00:56:34.000 with a super
00:56:34.760 super encouraging
00:56:35.700 conversation
00:56:36.340 with Maddie Pruitt
00:56:37.340 I'll see you guys
00:56:38.220 back here then
