00:06:56.500 video editing, especially with that role. There's not going to be any training involved. You got to

00:07:00.160 already be able to do it. Social media management, great to be a quick learner, but you got to have

00:07:05.400 the relevant experience in that space. We're potentially hiring for lots of new roles as we

00:08:57.440 abortion and things like that. And so I feel very, very familiar and by the grace of God

00:09:04.640 equipped to handle these kinds of arguments. And today we are going to be talking not just about

00:09:09.580 the sexuality aspect, although we will, that's a huge one when it comes to those who identify as

00:09:14.140 progressive Christians, but also the existence of hell and the definition of sin. This particular

00:09:19.620 pastor says that hell doesn't really exist as a physical place except for the manifestation of

00:09:25.100 anti-LGBTQ discrimination here in America, that that is actually what makes hell. So let's go

00:09:32.640 through some of his claims about homosexuality not being a sin, hell not existing. And I want

00:09:38.780 to try to help you think through these and give you words and tools so that you can respond to

00:09:43.740 similar arguments in your own life. Let's go ahead and place up for who had the nerve to tell you or

00:09:49.300 any of us or this world for that matter, that being queer makes for an awful person. What in 1.00

00:11:56.280 going to play another clip of that, another part of a sermon in just a second, but we got to break

00:12:00.240 this down. Who had the nerve to tell you or any of us or the world that being queer makes for an 0.96

00:12:06.880 awful person? I assume it was a man who had the nerve to tell any of us that we would be going to 0.85

00:12:11.060 hell for the way God created us to be? Here's the answer. Who told us that it's possible for us to

00:12:17.160 go to hell? Who told us that hell exists? Jesus did. And it's not just people who are gay. As

00:12:23.560 Romans 3.23 tells us, all have sin and fall short of the glory of God. That said, we'll circle back

00:12:30.100 to the question of homosexuality as a sin in just a second. Let's talk about the existence of hell. 0.97

00:12:36.980 the Bible explains that hell is eternal fiery punishment for sin. One misconception is that

00:12:42.700 Jesus never talks about eternal punishment, but Jesus himself actually refers to hell multiple

00:12:48.340 times in the new Testament. He refers to hell far more than he refers to heaven. Matthew 23, 33 to

00:12:54.160 the Pharisees, you serpents, you brood of vipers. How are you to escape being sentenced to hell? 0.98

00:12:59.360 And one thing I just want to say about the Pharisees, because I see another misconception

00:13:03.100 a lot, especially among those who call themselves progressives, is that while the Pharisees were

00:13:08.220 the religious people, and that's why Jesus didn't like them, Pharisees were in authority. And so

00:13:12.860 that's why Jesus bucked against them. They were keepers of the law. And that's why Jesus had a

00:13:18.380 problem with them because he was some kind of rebel. Jesus didn't care about religion. He

00:13:24.080 didn't care about law. He didn't care about rules. He cared just about relationship. That is a

00:13:29.260 misconception of what Jesus came to do. Jesus came to fulfill the law. Yes. And so we are not

00:13:37.020 bound to the cleansing and ceremonial law of the old Testament that has been fulfilled in Christ,

00:13:42.560 but he doubles down upon the moral law. What he points out with the Pharisees and with the

00:13:47.400 Sadducees and some of the religious leaders at the time is not that, Hey, you're too good at

00:13:51.920 keeping the law. His problem was the hypocrisy. His problem was that they didn't understand 0.81

00:13:57.280 that the law is also about your heart posture, that obedience to God starts on the inside.

00:14:03.860 That's why he says, if you look at a woman lustfully, you have already committed adultery.

00:14:09.220 That is not Jesus saying, oh, you're keeping the law too well, you law keepers. He's saying,

00:14:14.480 no, you are law breakers down to your heart. You don't even understand the spirit of the law.

00:14:19.380 And so I just want you to understand that, that his message to the Pharisees is not a message to

00:14:24.900 religious people. It's a message to rebellious people. It's a message to people like the

00:14:30.420 Pharisees who are not truly following God. They might be honoring God through lip service, 0.66

00:14:35.660 through their external appearances or saying that they are, but in their heart, they don't believe

00:14:40.620 in his authority. Mark 9, 43 through 48. And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It's

00:14:47.160 better for you to enter life crippled with two hands than to go to hell, to the unquenchable

00:14:52.260 fire, Jesus calls it. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter 0.98

00:14:57.280 life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it 0.97

00:15:02.280 out, it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown

00:15:06.460 into hell where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched. And so this preacher, when

00:15:13.660 he mocks the idea of hell and the existence of hell, like he is mocking Jesus's own words. Jesus

00:15:20.220 calls hell the unquenchable fire. Luke 12, four through five. I tell you, my friends, do not fear

00:15:26.040 those who kill the body. And after that have nothing more that they can do, but I will warn

00:15:30.380 you whom to fear. Fear him who after he has killed has authority to cast into hell. Fear God. Of

00:15:37.820 course, there is also good news is that yes, there is a hell and there is also a heaven. John 3 16

00:15:44.240 tells us that whoever believes in him and jesus will not perish but have everlasting life we get

00:15:52.280 reconciliation to god we get spared from that eternal punishment not because of anything we do

00:15:57.160 but because of what god has done for us through christ we read that in ephesians 2 as well

00:16:01.840 and so yes there is a hell and the hope that we have to escape the flames of hell the just

00:16:07.900 punishment that we deserve for our sin is found in jesus that's the mercy not in glossing over

00:17:12.800 in Romans one, this preacher is confusing biggest, uh, bigotry with the establishment of right and

00:17:19.320 wrong, which God establishes not us. And if God is love first John four, eight, then nothing he

00:17:24.420 says or does can be hateful or bigoted. He goes on to say more interesting things about hell

00:17:31.200 because of how america treats lgbtq people apparently america is hell he says here's

00:17:38.600 who in the world had the nerve to tell us that hell is actually real it is not a real place

00:17:46.680 it is not in the bible it is not of god it is not a real place except for the literal reality

00:17:53.080 being enacted in 2026 against all number of people who don't fall into the right category

00:20:48.760 eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. That's Jesus. Second Thessalonians 1, 0.82

00:20:53.640 6 through 8. Indeed, God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you,

00:20:59.320 Christians, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us. When the Lord Jesus

00:21:03.540 is revealed from heaven and his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who

00:21:08.320 do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. And for those who are

00:21:13.540 like, gosh, this just seems so terrible. I want you to think about all of the horrible things

00:21:19.180 that go on in the world, all of the injustices, the crimes that happen against children. I want

00:21:23.700 you to think of the sweet Christians, their babies, their children who are being beheaded,

00:21:28.080 who are being dismembered in places like the Sudan and Nigeria. I want you to think about

00:21:32.260 horrors of things like the Holocaust, all of the terrible things that go on. And I want you to

00:21:37.840 listen to that feeling that you have inside of you that wants things to be made right. That wants

00:21:43.780 the bad guy to be exposed, to be caught and to get his comeuppance. That is natural. We feel that

00:21:49.800 when we're reading a book, we feel that when we're watching a movie, we feel that when we turn on the

00:21:53.300 news, like when will the evil doer get his recompense? Hey, I think that is natural in all

00:22:00.680 of us because it is a longing for something that will manifest itself in eternity. That one day

00:22:06.300 everything will be made right. That the enemy, that those who wage evil, those who hurt the

00:22:12.500 vulnerable, those who are exploiting, those who can't help themselves, that one day they will be

00:22:18.560 punished. If not for the grace and the coverage that is given to them by Jesus, they will be

00:22:26.160 punished. Satan, his minions, all of those who practice those works of darkness that have caused

00:22:31.980 so much bloodshed and oppression for years and years and years. God will do away with it.

00:22:37.460 All of us want that. You want that. You want the bad guy to lose and you want goodness to win. Now,

00:22:43.080 progressive, conservative, you could disagree on who that is. Ultimately, it's not up to us.

00:22:48.120 It's not about our political enemies or our politics at all. It's about who God calls

00:22:51.620 unrighteous. And so if at all you feel like a struggle with that, think about the worst things

00:22:58.320 that go on in the world, don't you want those people to pay? You want them to repent, yes,

00:23:04.140 but if not that, you want them to pay. Evil is not going to be tolerated forever. And that's

00:23:10.620 actually really good news. That's hope that we have. Hebrews 12, 28 through 29, therefore let

00:23:15.700 us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken. And thus let us offer to God

00:23:20.520 acceptable worship with reverence and offer. Our God is a consuming fire. And that's just to say,

00:23:26.640 That's not saying that in that case, we're talking about hell, but we are talking about

00:23:32.840 fear of God. We are talking about a God who doesn't tolerate unrighteousness,

00:23:38.280 who won't tolerate evil forever. Romans 5, 5. But because of your heart and impenitent heart,

00:23:44.300 you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be

00:23:49.160 revealed. God is holy. God is just. God is righteous. He is a doler of punishment in the

00:23:55.220 most just way possible. And that is why the gospel is such good news that he has sent us a way to

00:24:00.620 escape the judgment that we deserve by sending his son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sin,

00:24:05.600 to pay the price of our sin, that whoever believes in him by grace through faith will not perish,

00:35:26.720 short of the glory of God. Romans three 23. But the good news is that we can be forgiven of our

00:35:32.120 sin in Christ. That is the only way to escape hell. Romans six 23 says for the wages of sin

00:35:36.780 is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord. So that is the very,

00:38:35.460 leadership and mentorship of other mature Christians do so alongside your Bible. I think

00:38:42.040 if you do all of those things prayerfully, then it can be okay. Um, also don't think it's necessary

00:40:18.220 some practical tips I would give you, but then I would go beyond that and maybe tell you something

00:40:29.240 try to establish some kind of routine so that your baby will start sleeping through the night.

00:40:34.020 I know some people are super anti sleep training. They think it's cruel. They think the only thing

00:40:39.020 that sleep training is, is making your baby or allowing your baby to cry for hours without

00:40:43.600 comfort. That is so not the kind of sleep training we did in our house, but we did try to establish

00:40:49.620 independence. We did put in place routines. We did taking care of babies. I love taking care of

00:45:17.020 preschool is awesome. I think it's great for your kids. Every individual kid is different. Maybe

00:45:21.180 your kid doesn't go to school till kindergarten. They're perfectly fine. That's great. It has been

00:45:25.020 so good for my kids and forming friendships and like routines and all different kinds of things.

00:45:31.320 And I love to teach them at home, but they learned a lot there too. And so like, I just think it's

00:45:35.380 really important to find teachers and schools that align with your values, that will love your kids
