The Freedom Convoy and Tamara Leach and Chris Barber are on trial for their part in the protest that turned into a riot in the streets of Ottawa, Canada on the day of their trial. The case is getting bogged down in minutiae, with witnesses who don't know why they're there, and the prosecution never seems to have its ducks in order.

00:00:00.000 Welcome back to another Stand on Guard. Stay tuned, we've got some breaking news from
00:00:05.220 leader of the opposition, conservative party leader Pierre Paulyev. He posted a statement
00:00:12.340 today on X, which is formerly known as Twitter, which I think you're going to find very interesting.
00:00:18.760 Stay tuned.
00:00:19.940 So we are in a very precarious position in this country. We need political change, but
00:00:27.960 we also need to resolve to resist.
00:00:39.380 Well, welcome back to another Stand on Guard Take 5. I'm your host, David Creighton, talking
00:00:44.980 very fast today, full of energy, just back from another trial. Day 13 of what I call the
00:00:53.580 Freedom Trial. Why is it the Freedom Trial? Because our freedom is on trial, as well as
00:00:59.120 that of the Freedom Convoy and Tamara Leach and Chris Barber. It's their trial, but in a larger
00:01:06.700 context, our freedom of speech, our freedom of assembly, our freedom to protest is also
00:01:12.820 on trial. And you know what? This thing is just getting bogged down in minutiae, verbiage,
00:01:21.820 in witnesses who don't know why they're there. It's really incredible to watch. It's hard to
00:01:28.020 relate how silly this trial has become. In fact, I mean, today we were expecting a ruling from the 0.83
00:01:36.680 judge and whether or not the eight prosecution witnesses will appear someday, maybe next week.
00:01:44.020 No, not next week. We're coming back on October the 11th. But when the trial resumes in October,
00:01:49.640 will these eight witnesses appear? Well, the judge is going to make a decision between now and September
00:01:54.500 29th. The judge has been quite good, so I'm not casting any aspersion on the judge. She's been very
00:02:00.160 fair. However, the prosecution never seems to have its ducks in order, never seems to know
00:02:06.820 what it's doing. It brings witnesses to the stand who aren't even sure why they're there. I've mentioned
00:02:13.060 this earlier, like this emergency preparedness general manager from the city of Ottawa thought
00:02:18.020 he was there to talk about his job description. It's really quite something to see. And the former
00:02:24.580 chief of staff to the mayor of Ottawa, Jim Watson, who has retired since he went crazy over the freedom
00:02:35.040 convoy, wasn't sure why he was there either. None of them had notes with them. They all had to sort of
00:02:42.140 borrow some notes off of the prosecution. And it's really quite something to see. However, Serge Arpine
00:02:49.900 did admit today, or at least he agreed with the words of defense counsel Lawrence Greenspan, who said,
00:02:59.020 the reason you had this weird bylaw in Ottawa that made it technically illegal to start to idle your
00:03:08.840 engine, for truckers to idle their engines, unless the temperature dropped below minus 15 degrees Celsius,
00:03:16.160 is that you wanted to freeze them out. And he says, well, that sounds like a logical outcome of what
00:03:22.620 that kind of bylaw would do. So he, you know, they were admitting that they passed the bylaw,
00:03:28.300 which was just trying to freeze people in their trucks. The previous bylaw Greenspan pointed out
00:03:34.360 was, I think, five degrees was the threshold. You could start, you could idle your truck on the streets
00:03:40.920 if the temperature dropped below five degrees Celsius. So they added like 20 degrees to this.
00:03:48.620 So we had to wait till it hit minus 15. Now that's pretty damn cold when you're sitting in your truck
00:03:55.920 and you've got kids and family with you. And Greenspan pointed that out today. Now I asked Greenspan after
00:04:05.100 the trial, you know, I said, how, how is this going? And he looks very exasperated. You know, he said, slowly.
00:04:17.160 And he, he, he said, we're not even close to reaching first base. This was supposed to be a 16 day trial,
00:04:26.180 16 days. We are on day 13. As I said, we have recessed for a couple of weeks. We're back on October
00:04:33.800 the 11th. This trial could well go into November. Okay. We might be celebrating the anniversary of the
00:04:43.980 emergencies inquiry, uh, emergency act inquiry, which was going on last November. This is how ridiculous 0.65
00:04:51.140 this is. And once again, these people are charged with very, very basic crimes, you know, like 0.96
00:05:03.500 mischief, inciting mischief, uh, obstructing the police. These are all things that are highly debatable.
00:05:12.140 And the prosecution is going to have a very difficult time making any of this stick, but
00:05:20.900 they're going to try anyway. And none of the evidence I've seen so far remotely suggests
00:05:28.180 that these two people are guilty of these crimes, that they were doing anything, but peacefully
00:05:36.020 protesting and encouraging everybody who was there as part of the convoy to,
00:05:42.140 who was there supporting, who was there protesting to do anything but peacefully protest.
00:05:49.020 I see no incitement. I see no incitement to mischief. I see no mischief. However, they were charged.
00:05:57.160 That's the law. But this is amounting to be a monumental waste of time and a embarrassment as we
00:06:06.920 continue to continue to show the world just how totalitarian Canada can be.
00:06:13.800 You want to say authoritarian? Okay. Maybe totalitarian is a bit of a stretch, but we're
00:06:19.720 getting there. We're not only that, we just look inept right now because of all the crap that Trudeau 0.99
00:06:25.000 caused with India, making stupid accusations and alienating the second largest country in the world, 1.00
00:06:32.540 population-wise. A member of the Commonwealth, a country we've always had ties with. Lots of 0.99
00:06:39.100 Indians have come to Canada to emigrate. India is a democratic country. It holds fair elections and free
00:06:49.340 elections. It has lots of the same traditions as Canada. However, Trudeau just decided to throw it all
00:06:58.060 to the wind because of his ego because he felt slighted by India. And so Canada looks really
00:07:03.980 stupid right now on the world stage. Really stupid. And the Freedom Convoy trial is not helping. 1.00
00:07:12.540 But we're going to keep reporting about this because even though it's an embarrassment for Canada,
00:07:16.620 it's an embarrassment for Justin Trudeau. Because he's the one that could have solved this
00:07:23.020 by simply meeting with the convoy people. And what did he do? He took out. He fled Ottawa. But not
00:07:34.220 before he had a little news conference and he labeled them all as a fringe element.
00:07:39.660 Yes, there is a small fringe element in this country that is angry,
00:07:46.700 that doesn't believe in science, that is lashing out with racist, misogynistic attacks.
00:08:02.380 But Canadians, the vast majority of Canadians, are not represented by them.
00:08:08.940 And I know, will not allow those voices, those special interest groups, those protesters who can,
00:08:20.860 I don't even want to call them protesters, those anti-vaxxer mobs, to dictate how this country gets
00:08:28.940 through this pandemic. 0.83
00:08:31.180 Racist and misogynist, which is exactly what Justin Trudeau has become. He's become part of a 0.96
00:08:38.220 fringe element, an extremist voice that supports a lot of crazy policies from medically assisted
00:08:47.420 suicide to gender ideology. He's the one that had a lifetime of misogyny and racism.
00:08:56.540 He can't escape the fact he loved to perform blackface and he can't escape his contempt he's had
00:09:03.100 for women over the years, especially those who served with him in politics,
00:09:06.940 throws them under the bus and can be very verbally abusive. At least one liberal MP has talked about that.
00:09:17.740 So it's embarrassing Trudeau, so let it continue. But I tell you, I believe Tamara Leach and Chris
00:09:24.460 Barber will be vindicated and acquitted. I believe that. Could be wrong. I don't know.
00:09:31.100 But I do believe they will be because I think they've got a better case. Now, somebody close to the
00:09:40.060 defense was mentioning today that they do think
00:09:42.700 I think this trial often looks like it's off the rails. It often looks like the
00:09:50.860 prosecution doesn't know what it's doing.
00:09:52.620 But you know what? This individual didn't have to tell me that it's obvious to everybody who's there.
00:10:00.700 And it's going to continue that way. So this will be day 13. We won't have a day 14 for like I say, until
00:10:08.540 October 11th. That's quite a few days away. In the meantime,
00:10:12.540 keep hoping and praying for your country. That other things are coming to the fore that we need to fight just as strongly.
00:10:26.300 Okay, this is just breaking. And a lot of people tell you this news is breaking these days. But this really is okay.
00:10:33.660 And so it's a post from Pierre Polyev, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.
00:10:40.780 And of course, a lot of people were disappointed when Mr. Polyev did not appear at the Million March for Children.
00:10:51.580 In Ottawa, he was not too far away at the House of Commons. He could have walked down.
00:10:57.340 We had Maxime Bernier, the People's Party of Canada. And we had Rod Taylor of the Christian Heritage Party.
00:11:02.300 Did show up. We didn't really expect Jagmeet Singh or Justin Trudeau to come down.
00:11:10.140 Jagmeet Singh came down for the other side. Yeah, he waved some Marxist flags and showed his true colors.
00:11:16.860 And actually tried to intimidate the organizer of the march, the Million Persons march.
00:11:24.140 That's how he showed his lack of support.
00:11:29.820 But Pierre Polyev, a lot of people said, why wasn't Pierre here today?
00:11:33.820 Pierre has just tweeted today. Well, it should say posted, excuse me, on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
00:11:41.660 And he said, Justin Trudeau always divides to distract from all he has broken.
00:11:48.380 This time he is demonizing concerned parents.
00:11:52.220 Parents should be the final authority on the values and lessons that are taught to children.
00:11:58.140 Trudeau should butt out
00:11:59.500 and let parents raise their kids. 0.93
00:12:09.020 OK, thank you, Pierre Polyev.
00:12:12.380 Yes, the state should not be raising our children.
00:12:15.740 No, Justin Trudeau is talking like a fascist when he says the state should be raising our children.
00:12:22.540 Parents need to raise our children. That's what's good for democracy. 0.97
00:12:26.940 That's what we've done for thousands of years in Western civilization and all civilizations.
00:12:33.180 Any place where the state raises children becomes a dictatorship.
00:12:38.860 So I always say I'm in no politician's pocket and I'm not.
00:12:44.780 But when a politician stands up for the right thing, stands up for principle,
00:12:50.620 even though there's going to be some flack over this, there's going to be opposition,
00:12:55.340 he's going to probably be called transphobic for this, even though it's got nothing to do with that at all.
00:13:03.180 Thank you, Pierre Polyev, for standing up for what's right and for principle.
00:13:08.860 It's very important.
00:13:11.900 Trudeau's Online Information Act is the third part of his internet censorship trilogy legislation.
00:13:20.140 He wants to ban disinformation from the internet without defining it.
00:13:25.740 And they have very good reason for not defining it.
00:13:28.460 And that reason is it's easier to prosecute people if there's no clear definition.
00:13:33.500 And that's what Trudeau wants to do.
00:13:35.500 And that's what his justice ministry wants to do.
00:13:37.340 And expect that legislation to be introduced in the fall, which we began, the fall session began this week.
00:13:44.800 Expect that legislation to be coming up in the next month or so through the Heritage Department again.
00:13:50.120 And it's got to be fought tooth and nail.
00:13:53.480 And if it's passed, God help us.
00:13:56.840 If it's passed, a subsequent government, probably conservative, must repeal it for the sake of freedom in this country.
00:14:08.440 Anyway, thanks for watching.
00:14:10.600 Please ring that bell.
00:14:11.840 Subscribe.

00:14:32.460 I'm telling you what I'm out there reporting.
