Summary

Justin Trudeau wants to raise taxes on grocery stores to bring down the price of food. Is he talking about price controls? Or is he trying to make food more affordable for the middle class? And if so, what kind of price control measures will he introduce?

00:00:00.840 Woke green policies are costing most people in Canada who vote liberal far more than they
00:00:07.120 can afford.
00:00:08.120 It's only a matter of time before I start shooting those smartening up pills.
00:00:12.880 So we are in a very precarious position in this country.
00:00:17.080 We need political change, but we also need to resolve to resist.
00:00:30.000 Welcome back to another stand on guard.
00:00:33.240 This is the Creighton's right channel.
00:00:35.440 See our new logo up there.
00:00:37.760 Yeah.
00:00:38.760 Moves around gives you gives you the chance to see what we're doing happy to be back.
00:00:45.920 We've got a lot of things to talk about today, but I'm going to be brief.
00:00:49.880 It's been a very busy week following that freedom convoy trial, but you know, the thing we weren't
00:00:55.960 talking a lot about was this liberal caucus retreat in London, Ontario.
00:01:02.580 But before I get to that, I want to talk about Trudeau's announcement on Thursday, which was
00:01:08.920 one of the most ridiculous, most stupid, most mystifying, and perhaps most dangerous things
00:01:19.720 that Trudeau has said.
00:01:22.520 I wrote about this yesterday in the post-millennium, I encourage you to read the article.
00:01:29.740 It's about Trudeau's announcement on grocery stores.
00:01:34.560 Now we're going to, I'm going to go to a clip in a minute here, but it is inexplicable.
00:01:41.700 I'm going to give you some idea of what he is perhaps talking about, but let's just allow
00:01:47.660 Trudeau to talk for himself for a minute here.
00:01:52.880 Our biggest grocery stores are making record profits while Canadians are struggling to put
00:01:58.320 food on the table.
00:02:00.260 So Minister Champagne will be calling on the heads of large grocers to come to Ottawa with
00:02:05.680 a plan to address the rising cost of food.
00:02:09.100 And we expect to hear from them by Thanksgiving on what their plan is to stabilize prices.
00:02:16.320 And let me be very clear, if their plan doesn't provide real relief for the middle class and
00:02:33.540 people working hard to join it, then we will take further action.
00:02:38.380 We are not ruling anything out, including tax measures.
00:02:46.260 Okay, first of all, how in the hell does he make this assumption that the grocery stores
00:02:53.380 are making record profits?
00:02:55.860 This is bullshit.
00:02:57.380 And Trudeau knows it's bullshit and it's absolute nonsense.
00:03:01.040 He comes up with this stuff and he just puts it out there, hoping nobody will test him, challenge
00:03:05.720 him, suggest he's lying, not making record profits.
00:03:10.840 This is garbage.
00:03:12.260 What the hell does he mean he's going to institute tax measures so that food prices stabilize?
00:03:19.280 This is just so ridiculous.
00:03:21.480 I don't know where to start.
00:03:23.100 Because first of all, if he's talking about taxing grocery stores so that grocery prices
00:03:30.660 will magically drop, does that make sense to anybody?
00:03:32.940 You add another tax and prices are going to go down somehow.
00:03:38.120 No, it doesn't make any sense.
00:03:40.420 It is just so hypocritical because there is a tax related to the increase in the price of
00:03:46.720 food.
00:03:47.740 It's called the carbon tax.
00:03:51.020 We are paying about 60 cents a liter in tax, carbon tax, every time you fill your gas tank
00:03:58.900 up.
00:03:59.120 So that's what's pushing up the price of food.
00:04:03.440 It costs more to transport food.
00:04:05.760 Everything costs more because of the carbon tax.
00:04:09.220 So Trudeau wants another tax to alleviate the high price of food.
00:04:16.120 He didn't explain what he meant.
00:04:17.800 I don't know if he has a clue in his shallow head what he's talking about.
00:04:22.340 Clearly, while he was saying this, you could see the deputy prime minister slash finance
00:04:28.400 minister, Chrystia Freeland, fidgeting nervously, looking really worried, because I think she
00:04:34.480 understands there's nothing to this, but perhaps there could be something really, really dangerous
00:04:39.760 to this.
00:04:40.260 Is he talking about price controls?
00:04:42.320 Is he going to arbitrarily rule what the price of a loaf of bread is?
00:04:45.620 How much 12 eggs cost?
00:04:48.900 What a pound of steak costs?
00:04:51.100 Is he going to make that kind of rule?
00:04:52.640 Is the federal government going to get that intimately involved in the economy?
00:04:57.780 Well, bloody well, that's called communism.
00:05:01.080 And that's, in a greater degree, that's what the Soviet dictator, Joseph Stalin, did in controlling
00:05:09.920 the agriculture world.
00:05:11.400 He created an artificial famine.
00:05:14.200 You can do the same thing by artificially adjusting the price of food so that it becomes
00:05:21.240 unattainable, so that it no longer becomes profitable to grow.
00:05:28.380 It starts at that level.
00:05:31.500 The producers cannot afford to grow it, first of all, because of the carbon tax, second of
00:05:36.240 all, because Trudeau has priced fertilizer out of reach with tariffs, and has told farmers
00:05:41.720 not to use fertilizer because it contributes to greenhouse gas emissions.
00:05:46.340 So he'd rather people starve than farmers use fertilizer.
00:05:50.300 All this is working against the producer.
00:05:52.580 So if the producer can't make the food at the right price, the grocery stores cannot buy
00:06:00.660 that food at a lower price either.
00:06:02.940 So they are going to be losing money in the process.
00:06:06.980 And if they can't pass that on to the consumer, they'll stop buying food, they'll buy less food,
00:06:11.960 the farmers will be producing less food, the result is famine, the result is starvation.
00:06:17.240 That is where Trudeau's program is leading us.
00:06:20.240 It's common sense economics.
00:06:22.800 Anybody in first year university or grade 12 could figure this out, but not Trudeau.
00:06:28.560 No, he thinks a tax is going to solve the problem.
00:06:32.320 More taxes always solve the problem as far as Justin Trudeau is concerned.
00:06:36.500 This man is not thinking as usual.
00:06:39.620 He's so moronic in his approach to politics.
00:06:42.860 He just takes a swipe, throws something against the wall and hopes some of it is going to stick.
00:06:49.540 This is one of his craziest ideas yet.
00:06:52.300 Not going to work.
00:06:53.480 And as I said, it smacks of sheer communism.
00:06:58.920 This is absolutely ridiculous.
00:07:01.300 I wrote about this, as I said, in the post-millennial.
00:07:03.440 I encourage you to read the whole column because it's interesting because his father,
00:07:09.360 Pierre Trudeau, instituted wage and price controls in 1975.
00:07:14.820 It was called the Anti-Inflation Act.
00:07:16.900 It was a disaster.
00:07:18.180 It didn't work.
00:07:19.180 It had to be revoked.
00:07:20.060 And the funny thing is, his father ran against conservative leader Robert Stanfield in 1974.
00:07:28.200 Stanfield, a hapless red Tory, said he was going to introduce wage and price controls.
00:07:34.180 Trudeau said, not going to happen under my leadership.
00:07:38.040 One of the first things he did when he became prime minister with a majority government is to say that he was going to do wage and price controls.
00:07:47.260 Massive flip-flop.
00:07:49.280 Massive flip-flop.
00:07:50.520 Interestingly enough, too, for the previous two years, from 72 to 74, Trudeau had been propped up by the NDP, much like Justin Trudeau is being propped up by the NDP right now.
00:08:03.920 In those days, it was NDP leader David Lewis propping up Pierre Trudeau.
00:08:08.580 Today, it's Jagmeet Singh propping up Justin Trudeau.
00:08:13.100 So the historical parallels are fascinating 50 years later, 49 to be precise, but about 50 years later.
00:08:23.860 Now, what does all of this mean?
00:08:26.420 Well, it's interesting because even the mainstream media is starting to talk about this.
00:08:30.600 It's housing that works for Pierre Poiliev, Andrew, but it's also affordability, and the government also tried to deal with some of that today with the calling in the grocery chains to yell at them and put down prices and all that kind of thing.
00:08:44.920 What did you make of the timing?
00:08:45.940 All right, so even the CBC, the state media, always sucking up to Justin Trudeau, is admitting, you know, there might be a little bit of a problem here, and perhaps this isn't the plan.
00:09:01.140 And the talking heads you saw actually said, yes, Trudeau might be going out on a limb here.
00:09:06.960 He might not really have a plan, and affordable housing does seem to be an issue for the conservatives.
00:09:12.200 Now, if you've seen anything on social media or on YouTube from people who are suggesting Justin Trudeau is finished, it's all over, it's nonsense.
00:09:23.560 They don't know what they're talking about because they haven't got a clue.
00:09:27.220 Justin Trudeau has two more years to go in his mandate, and he will cling to power tenaciously for as long as he can.
00:09:34.120 And just because a couple of backbench MPs are speaking off the record about how dissatisfied they are with Justin Trudeau does not mean Justin Trudeau is in any serious trouble.
00:09:45.680 He will fight to stay in power.
00:09:47.920 So don't think he's going to be leaving anytime soon.
00:09:51.180 And anybody who tells you that does not understand the political world and does not know what they are talking about.
00:09:57.820 I'll make that very clear.
00:09:59.200 But I'll tell you what is happening.
00:10:02.540 Justin Trudeau is introducing another flawed plan.
00:10:06.800 What is it, you ask?
00:10:08.860 Well, he's going to give developers a GST holiday.
00:10:18.540 No GST for developers building apartment houses.
00:10:22.900 Okay, so that's got nothing to do with single-family homes, nothing to do with duplexes, nothing to do with people where people can actually buy.
00:10:32.920 This is about people renting at exorbitant costs.
00:10:36.560 And how is this going to help renters?
00:10:39.120 Because the developers are going to be getting the rebate.
00:10:42.140 Do you think they're going to be passing on the savings?
00:10:45.640 To whom?
00:10:48.240 Somehow the tenants are going to benefit from this along the way?
00:10:54.920 This is such an unstable, crazy, doesn't add up plan.
00:11:00.180 But it's what we have come to expect from Justin Trudeau.
00:11:03.920 It's absolute nonsense.
00:11:06.360 Again.
00:11:06.840 And, yeah, I'm sure he heard some sour voices at the liberal retreat, at the caucus retreat in London.
00:11:15.880 Yeah, I'd be surprised if he didn't.
00:11:18.120 He is such a clown.
00:11:20.440 His government is so screwed up.
00:11:22.800 What he's doing is so catastrophic that they'd have to be crazy.
00:11:27.800 Not to suggest we have to do something.
00:11:30.060 We have two years to recover until the next election.
00:11:33.020 Are we going to start sometime soon?
00:11:34.440 I'm sure there's some objection to this.
00:11:37.700 But, you know, Trudeau just got back from a trip to India where he once again made a fool of himself on the international stage.
00:11:46.680 He screwed up trade deals.
00:11:48.720 He alienated the Indian prime minister.
00:11:51.800 He looked and the Indian prime minister symbolically pointed to the door in one of his pictures.
00:12:00.300 And he couldn't even get back on the government aircraft because it broke down.
00:12:05.920 And it's symbolic of this government and symbolic of Justin Trudeau, isn't it?
00:12:10.720 It just breaks down.
00:12:11.740 It keeps breaking down.
00:12:14.280 That's what the Justin Trudeau government is all about.
00:12:17.100 So is Justin Trudeau in trouble?
00:12:19.420 Yes, he's always in trouble.
00:12:20.980 But he's not in imminent trouble and any imminent pressure to resign.
00:12:26.800 Not going to happen anytime soon.
00:12:29.560 And he is going to continue to absolutely destroy the Canadian economy.
00:12:39.940 And I won't even get into how he's destroying our free speech, how he's destroying our children, how he has created a society where the government will allow you to commit suicide if you're even depressed.
00:12:55.000 I won't even get into those social issues.
00:12:57.640 But economically, Canada is on the precipice of disaster.
00:13:02.140 And if he thinks he can control the price of food with a wave of his magic wand, or if he thinks grocery stores are going to come up with his magic solution by Thanksgiving, he has nothing left in his cranium.
00:13:19.940 There's a problem here.
00:13:21.540 And the problem is Justin Trudeau.
00:13:23.280 He remains a completely fatuous, vacuous leader without a single creative thought.
00:13:33.100 He cannot cope with this crisis.
00:13:36.300 He's the one that was saying, along with Chrystia Freeland, that inflation is no big deal in Canada.
00:13:42.260 We're the lowest among the G8.
00:13:44.460 And, uh-huh, now it's suddenly a crisis, probably because he heard it was a crisis from some disgruntled MPs.
00:13:55.220 And maybe he thought, well, yeah, you know, I have to do something about this.
00:13:58.620 Unfortunately, the something is not going to work.
00:14:02.140 While the rest of the world is taking advantage of the fact that we were playing international boy scouts and girl guides, practical effect, additional 28 cents on the liter of gasoline and diesel.
00:14:12.500 Now, because all commodities are priced in U.S. terms, imagine having that kind of a burden on everything you buy.
00:14:19.520 Food, transportation costs, lumber costs, cement costs, steel costs, asphalt for the road.
00:14:26.700 So, all of these things mean that because we no longer have the petrodollar status we did, not only are you paying a carbon tax of 23, 24 cents a liter in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and, of course, let's not forget British Columbia.
00:14:40.500 You now have to pay an additional, let's call for what it is, an additional 28 cents to 30 cents a liter depending on the HST or GST that you're using.
00:14:48.660 Because the Canadian dollar no longer behaves the way it did, because we're not selling oil and gas to the extent that we could or should.
00:14:54.740 Bottom line, woke green policies are costing most people in Canada who vote liberal far more than they can afford.
00:15:03.640 It's only a matter of time before I start shooting those smartening up pills.
00:15:07.920 Keep on watching. I'll be back on Monday as the Tamara Leach, Chris Barber trial resumes.
00:15:14.920 I'll be keeping an eye on Justin Trudeau and having worked on the Hill for years, having been a journalist for years, knowing how Ottawa works and how prime ministers escape the punishment they deserve.
00:15:31.540 I will not be telling you that Justin Trudeau is going to be resigning tomorrow or next week when it ain't going to happen.
00:15:38.900 I will keep you up to date on how the facts are unfolding, not how we wish they would unfold.
00:15:47.280 And I, like most of you viewers, really would like to see Justin Trudeau resign.
00:15:52.640 I'd like to see an election next week or next month, but it's probably not going to happen because reality dictates otherwise.
00:16:00.800 And the reality tells us we have to continue to resolve to resist this maniacal, despotic, authoritarian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, because he's still very much in control of his party and of his government.
00:16:17.820 And he's still very much in control of bringing further catastrophe and devastation upon Canada.
00:16:26.860 And he's got plans for the fall that is going to take your free speech away.
00:16:31.960 So stay tuned and stay tuned not only to the station, but to what Trudeau is up to, because it's bad.
00:16:41.720 Bye for now. We'll see you on Monday.
00:16:45.760 Hi, this is David Creighton from Creighton's Right and Stand on Guard.
00:16:49.980 Join the resistance. Resolve to resist.
00:16:53.600 Become a member of this station.
00:16:56.960 I've been practicing journalism in one form or another for over 30 years.
00:17:01.240 I've worked in print, radio and television for a lot of prestigious publications and media outlets.
00:17:07.760 I was an armed forces public affairs officer.
00:17:11.700 I worked in Parliament Hill.
00:17:13.800 I know how Ottawa works and I know how corrupt federal government can be.
00:17:19.420 But you can play a part in opposing Justin Trudeau's government and Justin Trudeau's plans for Canada.
00:17:29.580 You can become a part of the Creighton's Right resistance.
00:17:32.640 Now, I urge you today, please support this station in any way you can.
00:17:40.000 Ring that bell, subscribe, because that ensures you're at least going to continue to be able to watch these episodes.
00:17:47.680 You'll beat the algorithm.
00:17:49.200 But more importantly, I need your financial support.
00:17:53.680 I hate to ask, but that's what I'm doing.
00:17:56.120 Look, I made a decision to pursue independent media because I believe it was the best possible route for me to take as a journalist and as a concerned citizen of Canada.
00:18:09.380 So you can become a part of that.
00:18:11.720 And at only $5, you can become a part of that on YouTube, on Substack, and with buying me a copy, a one-time donation.

00:18:30.600 But if you haven't, make that decision today.
00:18:37.340 Thank you.
