Stand on Guard with David Krayden - Day 8, Not One Step Back, Freedom Trial of Chris Barber and Tamara Lich ｜ Stand on Guard Take 5

00:00:00.000 Just as a follow up, I'm sorry to cut you off, but I just wanted to take note, you're all masking, which is lovely to see, of course, but most government ministers are not now, most MPs are not, most people on the street are not masking. Is there any specific guidance on that going forward at this point?

00:00:16.240 Hi, so it's David Creighton here, reporting from the Ottawa Courthouse.

00:00:46.240 And we're at day eight of what I'm calling the Freedom Trial, and we've got Tamara Leach and Chris Barber on trial for four ridiculous charges.

00:00:59.660 This thing could have been over in a day. It should have been over in a day. We have gone eight days now. We're starting our eighth day.

00:01:06.820 This is supposedly was going to be midway through the trial, which was originally 16 days. We're up to at least 20, probably longer now.

00:01:16.300 And hopefully today we're going to hear from the defense. We haven't heard from them since last Friday. And we might get some cross-examination of witnesses today.

00:01:26.360 But it has been a very dull week. But everything we've seen, all the videos, all the social media, texting, has provided a good glimpse of how peaceful this protest was.

00:01:42.660 And how hard the organizers, as much as they were organizers, encouraged people to be nonviolent, to cooperate with the police, to not disturb residents of Ottawa, and to clean up after themselves.

00:01:59.200 All of which they did. If you were here in February 2022, and you witnessed this, as I did, you can say that this was a peaceful protest and a clean protest.

00:02:12.280 So I'm going in the courthouse now. I will be tweeting throughout the day to let you know what's going on.

00:02:22.180 Well, welcome back to another Stand on Guard. I'm your host, David Creighton.

00:02:25.760 This is a Take 5, and I promised I'd be back again today.

00:02:31.000 We've gone through another day of the Freedom Trial. It's been Day 8.

00:02:36.740 Do I have a lot to tell you? Well, yes and no.

00:02:40.980 They finally got to a bit of cross-examination from the defense.

00:02:45.420 By the way, how did you love that intro? How did you love that video?

00:02:50.840 Isn't that just like CBC?

00:02:55.760 Bending over backwards to show their total obeisance, subservience to the COVID-19 authorities.

00:03:08.180 And there she is, eh?

00:03:09.480 Canada's version of Anthony Fauci.

00:03:12.320 Theresa Tam, our chief medical officer,

00:03:16.880 who's always spouting the propaganda from communist China.

00:03:20.200 And she did it all during COVID.

00:03:23.100 And here she goes again with her mask on and saying,

00:03:27.400 oh, you know, it's one way to reduce the threat. 0.52

00:03:31.180 What a nonsense. 0.92

00:03:33.560 What absolute nonsense. 0.96

00:03:34.960 Even though we all know that wearing the mask

00:03:39.240 is not going to help you reduce the risk of getting COVID

00:03:44.120 or any other viral disease.

00:03:46.540 It goes right through the mask.

00:03:48.580 We all know that.

00:03:49.860 In fact, we know it's dangerous to wear a mask all day.

00:03:53.000 We're breathing in germs and carbon monoxide.

00:03:55.340 And the material in a lot of these masks is toxic.

00:03:59.300 So it's not reducing any threat.

00:04:00.860 It's adding to the threat.

00:04:02.020 She's repeating falsehoods.

00:04:03.940 And there they are, lined up with their masks on.

00:04:06.520 And a CBC reporter, good CBC reporter, says,

00:04:11.300 oh, isn't it wonderful that you're all masked up?

00:04:15.040 Isn't it unfortunate that our politicians

00:04:17.280 and people on the streets are not wearing masks? 1.00

00:04:21.060 How stupid. 1.00

00:04:22.200 How stupid can journalism be in this country? 1.00

00:04:27.140 That stupid. 1.00

00:04:29.120 You want to know one thing, though, about this freedom trial? 1.00

00:04:33.060 It's the trial against the Freedom Convoy,

00:04:36.920 but specifically it's targeted to Mara Leach and Chris Barber.

00:04:43.140 It's completely unnecessary.

00:04:45.360 They should not have been charged in the first place.

00:04:47.520 And for what they're charged,

00:04:48.660 this could have been resolved in a day,

00:04:51.900 in a summary trial.

00:04:53.760 Not one this long.

00:04:57.620 This is originally booked for 16 days.

00:05:00.220 It's going to go for at least 20.

00:05:01.740 And I said yesterday, and I'll say it again today.

00:05:04.440 The way things are going,

00:05:05.760 this could last into mid-November.

00:05:09.420 And it's embarrassing.

00:05:11.400 Every day, it's embarrassing for Canada

00:05:14.340 to have these two peaceful protesters put on trial.

00:05:19.680 We look like an authoritarian regime,

00:05:22.400 a third world dictatorship.

00:05:23.680 And that's exactly what Canada has become

00:05:26.880 under the auspices and the dictatorship of Justin Trudeau.

00:05:33.880 So what happened today?

00:05:35.180 Well, we had a lot more minutiae raised, of course.

00:05:38.420 We had a lot of videos shown.

00:05:40.380 But you know what's fascinating?

00:05:43.260 What's really fascinating is I haven't seen a single video

00:05:47.140 that the prosecution or defense has raised

00:05:51.060 that somehow supports the idea

00:05:54.140 that either of these two people

00:05:56.680 were inciting anyone to mischief,

00:06:00.300 to disobey the police,

00:06:01.700 to be an obstacle,

00:06:02.840 to be violent,

00:06:05.920 to bother anybody.

00:06:07.560 It's repeated time after time after time,

00:06:13.500 no matter who you're listening to.

00:06:16.300 Whether it's Tamara Leach or Chris Barber

00:06:18.440 or other members of the Freedom Convoy,

00:06:20.440 they consistently and constantly

00:06:22.900 tell people to be peaceful.

00:06:26.460 It's incredibly important,

00:06:28.420 they keep repeating,

00:06:29.620 not to exercise any violent protest.

00:06:34.040 Not to be violent.

00:06:35.140 Not to disturb local residents.

00:06:40.960 Not to disobey the authority of the police.

00:06:46.400 That's what we're hearing time after time.

00:06:49.740 So what is the point of this?

00:06:52.740 Why are we going eight days now

00:06:55.500 and we're nowhere near halfway finished?

00:06:58.800 Nowhere near halfway finished.

00:07:01.100 What is this benefiting?

00:07:02.260 Once again, people are making money off this.

00:07:07.560 And I tell you,

00:07:08.920 I think the prosecution wants to drag this on

00:07:11.500 as long as possible

00:07:12.580 because it's a lot of money.

00:07:16.520 And it's really,

00:07:17.860 and it could have been resolved very quickly.

00:07:20.740 One of the classic moments today,

00:07:23.360 there was a video shown

00:07:25.820 of Brian Peckford,

00:07:28.340 former Newfoundland and Labrador Premier

00:07:31.520 Brian Peckford.

00:07:32.560 He was Premier of that province

00:07:34.720 from 1979 to 1989.

00:07:38.520 Very prominent Premier

00:07:40.440 because he was feisty.

00:07:43.140 He was principled.

00:07:45.040 He was never afraid to tell you

00:07:46.680 what was on his mind.

00:07:47.740 And he was one of the fathers

00:07:50.640 of the new constitution,

00:07:52.900 the repatriated Canadian constitution.

00:07:56.480 He was one of the premiers

00:07:57.560 who signed it along with

00:07:59.640 the Prime Minister at the time,

00:08:02.080 Pierre Trudeau,

00:08:03.080 and the other premiers.

00:08:04.320 And he was one of the premiers

00:08:05.760 that approved and signed

00:08:08.080 the Charter of Rights.

00:08:09.780 So I think he knows something.

00:08:11.140 And I think we should probably remember him

00:08:13.280 as an historical figure.

00:08:14.960 He came out to support the Freedom Convoy

00:08:17.220 in February, 2022.

00:08:20.320 Now, when this video was shown,

00:08:22.920 the police officer present

00:08:26.040 said she couldn't positively identify

00:08:29.140 the individual as Brian Peckford.

00:08:34.720 Same thing was said by the prosecution.

00:08:37.680 The judge said,

00:08:38.840 you don't recognize Brian Peckford?

00:08:42.320 Do you even know who he is?

00:08:43.860 You don't recognize this, man.

00:08:47.460 She was just dumbfounded

00:08:48.740 that they actually were going to play

00:08:50.500 politics with that one.

00:08:52.760 Yeah, it was Brian Peckford, all right.

00:08:54.680 I think we all can admit he was there.

00:08:58.540 He was at several news conferences.

00:09:00.960 He was a great help and assistance

00:09:03.640 to explaining what was going on.

00:09:06.000 And he repeatedly said

00:09:08.000 that the invocation of the Emergencies Act

00:09:12.680 was completely inappropriate

00:09:15.840 and unjustified.

00:09:18.520 And he made that comment several times.

00:09:21.280 So clearly, he was a vital part of it.

00:09:24.860 So it goes on and on.

00:09:28.120 What's happening?

00:09:28.840 It's over for the week.

00:09:31.260 I will be back in the next few days

00:09:33.440 with other issues.

00:09:34.860 We've got a lot of things happening here

00:09:36.620 in Ottawa.

00:09:37.620 And I'm going to touch on those in a minute.

00:09:40.240 But next week,

00:09:42.240 I hope we get to some of these

00:09:45.000 residents in Ottawa

00:09:47.360 who are complaining so much,

00:09:49.860 apparently.

00:09:50.360 Because if we hear from them,

00:09:53.340 we're going to hear from the residents

00:09:54.820 who weren't complaining.

00:09:56.780 I talked to a woman on the street today

00:09:58.680 who suggested

00:10:00.860 they might have done this trial

00:10:03.600 with a jury in Ottawa

00:10:05.520 because everybody in Ottawa

00:10:08.200 did not object

00:10:10.580 to the Freedom Convoy being in town.

00:10:13.280 Everybody in Ottawa

00:10:14.240 did not suggest

00:10:15.720 it was a massive inconvenience.

00:10:18.320 Everyone in Ottawa did not

00:10:19.820 pretend it was an occupation, 1.00

00:10:23.500 an incredibly stupid description 1.00

00:10:25.780 of a peaceful protest. 1.00

00:10:28.920 Whether that's the truth,

00:10:30.640 whether that's a fact or not,

00:10:33.060 it really doesn't matter.

00:10:34.480 It is what it is.

00:10:35.580 It's being adjudicated by a judge,

00:10:38.580 be assessed by a judge.

00:10:40.140 So far, I think she's been quite fair.

00:10:42.200 I've been saying that every day.

00:10:44.300 So I'm not really worried about the judge.

00:10:47.240 Now, I think the prosecution

00:10:49.200 has blown it time after time.

00:10:51.980 They have demonstrated

00:10:53.760 gross incompetence,

00:10:56.880 as far as I'm concerned,

00:10:58.240 in not knowing sometimes

00:10:59.560 what they're even showing.

00:11:01.620 And I don't think

00:11:03.480 they've got a shred of evidence

00:11:04.620 to convict Tamara or Chris.

00:11:07.520 I really think this is an outrage.

00:11:10.080 And this is why every day

00:11:12.580 when you sit there,

00:11:14.240 you're thinking,

00:11:15.960 why are these two on trial?

00:11:19.080 And why are we doing this in Canada?

00:11:22.260 Why do we have

00:11:23.060 three governments

00:11:26.220 who worked against these people,

00:11:27.640 who worked against the peaceful protests,

00:11:29.240 who tried to make them out

00:11:30.240 to be terrorists,

00:11:31.380 who tried to pretend

00:11:32.580 they were doing something

00:11:34.860 threatening and dangerous?

00:11:36.420 Thank God

00:11:38.280 the Freedom Convoy

00:11:39.240 came to Ottawa.

00:11:40.200 Thank God

00:11:40.940 they raised the specter

00:11:43.240 of continued COVID-19 mandates.

00:11:46.600 And I tell you what,

00:11:48.400 after that protest,

00:11:51.140 the mandates began to disappear.

00:11:53.120 But I'll tell you what again,

00:11:55.860 as Theresa Tam

00:11:57.020 and these

00:11:57.860 so-called spontaneous rallies

00:12:00.420 across Canada

00:12:02.000 for masking

00:12:03.400 demonstrate

00:12:04.740 there's a push-on

00:12:07.360 to bring back

00:12:09.060 lockdowns,

00:12:10.180 mandates,

00:12:11.640 mandatory vaccinations,

00:12:13.860 mandatory masking.

00:12:15.520 None of it

00:12:16.200 is healthy.

00:12:17.240 None of it

00:12:17.720 is good.

00:12:18.680 We don't need it.

00:12:20.520 The economy

00:12:21.140 is barely recovering

00:12:22.720 from

00:12:24.240 the last

00:12:25.360 rolling

00:12:26.520 lockdowns

00:12:27.620 in many cities

00:12:29.620 across Canada.

00:12:30.500 I tell you,

00:12:33.720 I went to

00:12:34.900 a Tim Hortons

00:12:35.760 in Ottawa

00:12:36.200 the other day

00:12:36.880 that looks like

00:12:38.100 it's still

00:12:38.640 suffering

00:12:39.160 from rolling

00:12:40.160 lockdowns.

00:12:41.080 They couldn't

00:12:41.560 even provide

00:12:42.540 lunch.

00:12:44.740 And they had

00:12:45.600 two kinds

00:12:46.640 of bagels

00:12:47.280 and a few

00:12:49.160 muffins.

00:12:50.800 And this is

00:12:51.580 in the downtown

00:12:52.200 core of Ottawa.

00:12:53.640 There is still

00:12:54.640 a lot of chaos

00:12:56.060 that is a direct

00:12:57.300 result,

00:12:57.840 not of any

00:12:58.320 Freedom Convoy,

00:12:59.320 but of

00:13:00.580 lockdowns

00:13:01.580 instituted by

00:13:02.760 the provincial

00:13:03.420 government

00:13:04.260 in Ontario.

00:13:05.280 And it's the same

00:13:06.280 across Canada.

00:13:07.020 We are not

00:13:08.380 going back

00:13:09.340 to lockdowns,

00:13:11.420 masking,

00:13:12.960 and mandatory

00:13:13.960 vaccinations.

00:13:15.820 Everything points

00:13:17.180 to that being

00:13:18.040 a mistake.

00:13:20.020 And don't let

00:13:21.040 the authorities,

00:13:22.140 don't let the

00:13:22.800 healthcare

00:13:23.380 Gestapo,

00:13:24.220 and don't

00:13:25.260 let people

00:13:25.760 like Teresa

00:13:26.320 Tam or a 0.98

00:13:27.380 CBC reporter

00:13:28.580 convince you

00:13:29.640 that it's okay

00:13:30.260 to do it again.

00:13:31.680 That it's time

00:13:32.840 to do it again

00:13:33.600 because it's all

00:13:34.760 based on

00:13:35.420 falsehoods

00:13:36.480 and it's all

00:13:37.080 based on

00:13:38.540 absolute 1.00

00:13:39.480 crap. 0.99

00:13:42.040 And it's time 1.00

00:13:43.060 to say that.

00:13:44.860 And let's

00:13:45.900 have some

00:13:46.400 politicians this

00:13:47.600 time around

00:13:48.020 with some

00:13:48.660 guts

00:13:49.160 to say no.

00:13:50.480 we are not

00:13:52.420 going back

00:13:53.140 to lockdowns

00:13:54.280 and we are

00:13:54.500 not going

00:13:55.080 back the

00:13:55.880 mandatory

00:13:56.340 COVID

00:13:56.820 measures

00:13:59.080 because it's

00:14:00.160 crazy.

00:14:01.520 We're going

00:14:02.220 to continue

00:14:02.680 to follow

00:14:03.100 this trial

00:14:03.620 every day

00:14:04.180 that it's

00:14:04.940 in session.

00:14:07.060 I'm going

00:14:07.740 to continue

00:14:08.160 to provide

00:14:08.640 you with

00:14:08.960 updates.

00:14:10.400 And as I

00:14:11.480 said before,

00:14:12.320 if there's

00:14:13.160 any solace

00:14:14.560 in watching

00:14:16.580 this grievous

00:14:17.600 operation

00:14:18.400 unfold every

00:14:19.660 week,

00:14:20.480 it's only

00:14:21.520 that it's

00:14:22.180 a timely

00:14:22.880 way to

00:14:24.080 demonstrate

00:14:24.600 that we

00:14:25.160 cannot go

00:14:25.840 back to

00:14:27.200 February 2022

00:14:28.460 when the

00:14:29.520 Freedom Convoy

00:14:30.220 was in

00:14:30.700 Ottawa

00:14:30.980 fighting the

00:14:32.840 mandates.

00:14:33.620 We must

00:14:34.500 continue to

00:14:35.160 move forward.

00:14:36.740 Thanks for

00:14:37.420 watching today.

00:14:39.440 I'm here

00:14:40.400 every day

00:14:41.100 that I need

00:14:41.760 to be.

00:14:43.080 And

00:14:43.340 please

00:14:44.900 subscribe to

00:14:46.020 the station,

00:14:46.800 support us

00:14:47.360 financially,

00:14:48.500 ring that

00:14:48.980 bell,

00:14:49.360 become a

00:14:51.360 member because

00:14:53.100 when you

00:14:53.380 do, you

00:14:53.860 beat Trudeau's

00:14:54.920 censorship.

00:14:56.300 You become

00:14:57.040 part of the

00:14:58.200 solution.

00:14:59.020 You are

00:14:59.440 resolving to

00:15:00.280 resist and

00:15:02.500 you become

00:15:03.120 part of the

00:15:04.800 stand on

00:15:05.420 guard resistance.

00:15:07.040 I'm in a

00:15:07.980 decision to

00:15:08.940 pursue independent

00:15:09.840 media because

00:15:10.840 I believe it

00:15:11.620 was the best

00:15:12.360 possible route

00:15:14.420 for me to

00:15:15.120 take as a

00:15:17.080 journalist and

00:15:17.680 as a

00:15:18.660 concerned citizen

00:15:19.700 of Canada.

00:15:20.780 So you can

00:15:21.600 become a part

00:15:22.200 of that.

00:15:23.140 And at only

00:15:23.800 $5, you can

00:15:24.940 become a part

00:15:25.480 of that on

00:15:26.860 YouTube, on

00:15:28.140 Substack, and

00:15:30.540 with buying me a

00:15:31.380 copy, a one-time

00:15:32.300 donation.

00:15:32.800 But I need

00:15:33.900 your support.

00:15:34.740 And from the

00:15:35.120 bottom of my

00:15:35.660 heart, I

00:15:36.360 thank you.

00:15:37.280 If you've

00:15:37.600 already done

00:15:38.240 that, if you're

00:15:39.040 already supporting

00:15:39.720 the station, thank

00:15:40.880 you.

00:15:42.040 But if you

00:15:42.720 haven't, make

00:15:44.380 that decision

00:15:45.040 today.
